자녀가 자라서 스스로 생각하기 시작하면 그들의 성품이 드러나기 시작합니다! 모든 그룹에는 언제나 범상치 않고 남다르고 총명하지만 못 말리는 아이가 있습니다. 마음은 상냥하지만 고집이 있는 주의 깊은 아이가 있습니다.

이번 주 토라 포션 민수기 25:10‑30:1은 핀하스(비느하스)라고 부릅니다. 비느하스는 이런 종류의 젊은이의 이름입니다. 그에 관한 모든 것이 “고정관념을 벗어난” 젊은이입니다.

그는 정치적으로 옳은 부류가 아닙니다. 그는 고집이 세고 부족의 통치 엘리트에 순순히 따르지 않습니다. 비느하스는 결코 포기하지 않고 언제나 문에 앉아 군중을 판단하는 원로들에게 도전하는 질문을 가지고 있습니다. 이 토라 포션을 앞에서 묘사한 젊은이의 이름을 따라서 이름 지은 이유가 여기 있습니다.

여기에 비느하스의 이야기가 있습니다! 지난 안식일에 우리는 “발락”이라는 포션을 읽었습니다. 발락은 저주하거나 축복할 수 있는 힘이 있는 마법사 발람을 부른 모압왕입니다.

발람은 국제적 명성과 성공의 이력이 있습니다. 발람이 축복하면 사람들이 축복받은 것으로 드러납니다. 발람이 저주하면 그가 사용한 저주가 재앙을 가져와 분명하고 가시적인 방식으로 이루어집니다.

발람은 이스라엘을 저주하러 왔다가 결국은 이스라엘을 축복합니다. 발람에게 온 가장 강력한 영향력은, 주의 사자가 그의 앞에 서있는 것을 본, 그가 타고 있는 그의 나귀였습니다.

나귀는 주의 사자를 볼 수 있었으나 위대한 선지자이자 마법사인 발람은 보지 못했습니다. 나귀는 주의 사자의 소리를 들을 수 있었지만 발람은 그러지 못했습니다. 주의 사자가 나타나 나귀와 발람을 막으려 한 세 번 째에야, 매 번 발람이 그의 지팡이로 나귀의 머리를 때렸던, 그 세 번째에야,

주께서 나귀의 입을 열어주시어 나귀가 발람에게 말합니다. 나귀는 발람에게 불평하며 들을 수 있는 소리로 그에게 묻습니다. 왜 저를 때리세요! 이 순간에 발람의 눈이 열려 그제서야 주의 사자의 소리를 듣고 볼 수 있었습니다.

모압왕 발락의 계략은 성공하지 못했는데, 발람이 하나님께 순종하여 발락에게 순종하지 않으려 했기 때문입니다. 그러나 발람의 욕심은 여전히 있어, 하나님께서 허용하지 않으시기 때문에 이스라엘을 저주하지는 못하지만, 모압왕 발락이 그에게 약속한 보상을 원했습니다.

그래서 발람은 이스라엘과 유대민족을 묘사하는 가장 멋진 성경 구절을 발합니다. 모든 유대교 회당은 이 이교도 마법사 발람의 말로 모든 예배를 시작합니다:

“야곱이여 네 장막들이, 이스라엘이여 네 거처들이 어찌 그리 아름다운고!” – 민수기 24:5

발람은 이스라엘을 저주하지 못했지만, 그래도 아직 발락이 그에게 약속한 금과 은을 원했습니다. 그래서 발람은 발락에게 조언을 해줍니다. 이스라엘 사람들이 아리따운 젊은 여인들을 사랑하니 아리따운 미디안 소녀들을 이용해 이스라엘 남자들을 유혹하라고.

여기에서 비느하스가 등장합니다. 시므온 지파의 왕자 살루의 아들 시므리와 미디안 공주 수르의 딸 고스비가 하나님의 성막 입구에서 섹스를 하고 있습니다. 네, 사람들이 보는 앞에서 섹스를 하고 있고 이스라엘의 장로들은 지켜보며 충격에 빠져 어찌 해야 할지 모릅니다. 이 참혹한 행위가 하나님께서 거하시는 곳 마당에서 벌어지고 있기 때문입니다.

모세와 장로들은 완전히 충격에 빠져 말을 잃었습니다. 이스라엘 지도자들은 그냥 마비가 되어 그렇게 가증한 일을 이스라엘 중 누가 그렇게 뻔뻔하게 저지르랴 상상도 못했습니다.

“제사장 아론의 손자 엘르아살의 아들 비느하스가 보고 회중 가운데에서 일어나 손에 창을 들고 그 이스라엘 남자를 따라 그의 막사에 들어가 이스라엘 남자와 그 여인의 배를 꿰뚫어서 두 사람을 죽이니 염병이 이스라엘 자손에게서 그쳤더라.” – 민수기 25:7,8

젊은이 비느하스는 정말로 이번 주 토라 포션에 그의 이름을 주었습니다. 여러분은 아무런 법적 권위가 없는 이 젊은 레위인이 직접 법을 집행하여 사람들이 보는데서 시므리와 고스비를 주의 성막 입구에서 처형하여 하나님께서 매우 언짢으셨을 것이라고 생각할 것입니다.

대부분의 서구 국가들의 법에서는 권한이나 허가 없이 직접 법을 집행하여 사람들이 보는데서 모세와 이스라엘의 장로들 앞에서 두 사람을 죽인 비느하스 같은 사람은 범죄로 기소될 것입니다.

여기의 교훈은 제게 너무도 아주 중요합니다. 저는 비느하스에서 하나님께서는 고정관념에 갇혀 있지 않으시며, 법이 무력한 순간에 비록 공식적인 권한은 없을지라도 솔선수범하여 용기를 내 주도적으로 나선 한 젊은이가 무죄가 될 수 있다고 존중해 주실 수 있다는 것을 배웁니다.

보통의 상황에서는 누가 권한 없이 직접 법을 집행할 경우 그는 법정에 서게 되고 감옥에 가게 될 것입니다. 그러나 여기에는 하나님께서 계신데, 세상을 창조하신 하나님께서 이스라엘의 모든 엘리트와 지도자를 증인으로 하여, 솔선하여 시므리와 고스비 이 두 사람을 죽인 비느하스에게 상을 주십니다.

비느하스는 자기 자신을 걱정하거나, 하나님의 성막과 그분의 존전과 그곳에서 보고 있는 모세와 그의 권위와 이스라엘의 장로들과 주의 제사장들에게 도전하고 있는 이 두 사람을 죽인 것 때문에 그에게 무슨 일이 일어날까 우려하지 않았습니다.

비느하스는 정치적으로 옳고자 하지 않았습니다. 비느하스는 각자의 부족의 지도자들인 이 두 젊은 지도자들, 시므온 지파 두령의 아들 시므리와 미디안왕의 딸 고스비의 가증한 일과 비행을 멈추게 하는 것에 대해서만 관심을 가졌습니다.

친애하는 형제님들, 여러분도 아시다시피, 소위 “하나님의 사람들” 대부분은 “고정관념에서 벗어났다”거나 정치적으로 옳지 않다고 해석될지도 모르는 어떤 것을 말하기 전에 세 번 생각합니다. 미디어에 대한 두려움, 사람들이나 언론으로부터 있을 수 있는 비난에 대한 두려움이 아주 무서운 요인입니다.

목사가 세련되지 못한 건 아닌지, 크게 미소 짓지 못한 건 아닌지, 치아가 완벽하게 희지 않은 것은 아닌지, 늘 월요일에 일자리를 잃게 되는 것은 아닌지 염려하며 언제나 말을 번드르르하게 어떤 비평 없이 무난하고 온유하고 긍정적인 생각으로만 가득한 일반적인 표현으로 하지 않은 것은 아닌지, 장로나 심지어 목사나 자기 자녀 중 한 명의 죄를 폭로한 것은 아닌지 두려워합니다.

우리는 비느하스에서 사람이 개인적 대가가 매우 클지라도 옳은 것과 거룩한 것과 하나님의 명예를 지키고 옹호하기 위해 정의롭고 중요한 것을 위해 일어나야 하는 때가 있다는 것을 배울 수 있습니다. 모든 하나님의 선지자는 정치적으로 옳지 않고 하루 세 번 “정치적으로 옳은” 것을 먹는 대중에게 인기 없는 것들을 말할 용기가 있어야 합니다.

이스라엘과 이스라엘 지도자들과 예루살렘의 영적 지도자들에게 말하고 정숙을 명하는데 경험이 풍부했던 예레미야의 말이 있습니다. 예레미야는 배척과 육체적 핍박과 지위를 잃음과 심지어 하나님의 집에서 제사장이라는 일자리에서도 쫓겨나는 심한 대우를 겪었습니다.

때때로 부패한 법과 악한 관습과 불의에 항거하여 일어나고 온통 계속되는 악에 대해 공개적으로 말하고 항의하는 것은 해야 할 옳은 일입니다. 누군가는 조류를 바꿔 하나님의 주권과 진리를 지키기 위해 일어나 분명한 입장을 취해야 합니다. 이것이 비느하스가 하나님한테 상을 받고 온 이스라엘 군대 장군이 된 이유입니다.

제가 생각하기에 모든 하나님의 사람이 그의 부르심에 있어야 한다고 하는 원칙은 무엇보다 우선 하나님과 그분의 대의를 명예롭게 하는 일에 헌신하는 것입니다. 두 번째는 모든 하나님의 사람은 정치적으로 옳은 문화에 항거하여 다수에 항거하며, 무엇이 자기에게 이득이 될지 아니면 무엇을 놓칠지 계산하지 않고 하나님께 속한 것과 거룩하고 순전한 것을 옹호하기 위해 일어나는 용기가 있어야 합니다.

저는 여러분과 여러분의 회당이나 교회 지도자들이 여러분 진영에 의와 거룩과 정의를 옹호하기 위해 일어나도록 비느하스와 같은 종류의 자질로 이루어지고 비느하스와 같은 성품을 갖기를 기도합니다.

사람이 하나님과 그분의 말씀을 위해 일어나 옳은 것을 옹호하고 그른 것을 규탄하고자 하지 않는다면, 그는 목사나 설교자나 심지어 하나님의 말씀을 가르치는 교사가 되어서는 안 됩니다. 누가 하나님과 그분의 말씀과 토라와 선지서와 복음의 신약성경과 먼저는 유대인과 또한 이방인을 옹호하여 일어날 것입니까?

믿음과 하나님의 사람들 편에 서시고, 이스라엘의 유대 민족을 멸하여 하나님의 약속에서 뽑아버리고 싶어 하는 모든 가짜 세상 정치인들을 믿지 마십시오. 탐욕스럽고 권력을 사고 파는 세상의 유명한 정치인들의 목표는 모압왕 발락과 브올의 아들 발람의 목표와 같습니다.

The Jerusalem Prayer List – July 1, 2021

When children grow up and start to think for themselves their character begins to show! In every group there is always some kid that is unusual, different, bright but not controllable. Precautious kid with a soft heart, but a hard head.

This week’s Torah portion from the book of Numbers 25:10‑30:1 is called Pinchas (Phinehas). Pinchas is a name of this kind of young man. A young man that everything about him is “out of the box.”

He is not politically correct. He is stubborn and disobedient to the ruling elite of the tribe Pinchas never gives up and always has questions that challenge the elders that are sitting at the gate to judge the crowds. Here is the reason why this portion of the Torah is named after a young man that I described above.

Here is the story of Pinchas! In the last Shabbat we read the Portion called Balak. Balak is the King of Moab who calls Balaam the magician who has the power to curse or to bless.

Balaam has an international reputation and a record of success. When Balaam blesses, the people come out blessed. When Balaam curses, the curses that he uses bring disaster and are fulfilled in a clear and visible way.

Balaam came to curse Israel and ended up by blessing Israel. The most powerful influence on Balaam was his donkey that saw the angel of the Lord standing in front of him while Balaam was riding him.

The donkey could see the angel and Balaam the great prophet and magician could not see him. The donkey could hear the angel and Balaam couldn't. After three times that the angel appears and tries to stop the donkey and Balaam, and each time Balaam uses his cane and hits the donkey on the head.

The Lord opens the donkey’s mouth and he talks to Balaam. The donkey complains to Balaam and asks him with an audible voice. Why are you beating me! At this point the eyes of Balaam open and now he can hear and see the Angel of the Lord.

The scheme of Balak King of Moab does not succeed, because Balaam was obedient to God and would not disobey Him. However, Balaam’s greed is still there and he can’t curse Israel because God does not allow him, but on the other hand he wants the reward that Balak, King of Moab, promised him.

So, Balaam gives forth some of the most wonderful biblical texts describing Israel and the Jewish nation. Every Jewish synagogue opens every service with the words of the Gentile magician, Balaam:

“How lovely are your tents, O Jacob! Your dwellings, O Israel!” – Numbers 24:5 [NKJV]

Balaam can’t curse Israel, but he still wants to the gold and silver that Balak promised him. So, Balaam gives advice to Balak. Since the Israelites love beautiful young women, use the beautiful Midianite girls to seduce the Israelite men.

Here is when Pinchas comes into the picture. Zimri the son of Palu, the prince of the tribe of Simeon, and Cozbi the daughter of Zur, a princess of Midian, are having sex at the entrance to the Tabernacle of God. Yes, having sex publicly and the elders of Israel are watching and in shock, and they don’t know what to do because this horrible act is being performed in the courtyard of God’s dwelling place.

Moses and the elders are in total shock and tongue-tied. The leadership of Israel is just paralyzed and could not imagine that such an abomination would ever be performed by anyone from Israel, in such a blatant abominable act.

“Now when Pinchas the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose from among the congregation and took a javelin in his hand; and he went after the man of Israel into the tent and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her body. So the plague was stopped among the children of Israel.” – Numbers 25:7,8 [NKJV]

The young man Pinchas actually provides his name for this week’s portion. You would think that God would be very upset that this young Levite who had no legal authority and took the law into his own hands and executed Zimri and Cozbi in public, right at the entrance to the Lord’s Tabernacle.

Under the laws of most Western countries, a person like Pinchas, who takes the law into his hands without authority and permission, and kills two people in public, right in in front of Moses and the elders of Israel, would be charged with a crime.

The lesson here is so very important for me. I learn from Pinchas that God is not square and that God can appreciate moments when the law is impotent and a young person who steps up with courage and initiative and, even if he takes the initiative without formal authority, can be innocent of committing a crime.

Under normal circumstances, when someone takes the law into his own hands without authority, he would be taken to court and go to jail. However, here we have God, the God who created the world, rewarding Pinchas for taking the initiative and killing these two people, Zimri and Cozbi, with all the elite and leadership of Israel as witnesses.

Pinchas was not concerned for himself or what might happen to him for killing these two people who were challenging the Tabernacle of God and His presence. Challenging Moses and his authority, the elders of Israel, and the priests of the Lord who were all there watching.

Pinchas was not trying to be politically correct. Pinchas was concerned about stopping the abomination and depravity of these two young leaders, of these two leaders among their people, Simeon the president of his tribe, Simeon, and Cozbi, the daughter of the King of Midian.

You see, my dear brothers, most of the so-called “men of God” think three times before they say something that might be interpreted as “out of the box” or politically incorrect. The fear of the media and of the possible criticism of people or of the press, is a very scaring factor.

If the pastor is not polished and if he does not wear a big smile, and if his teeth aren’t perfectly white and he isn’t always smooth-talking and speaking in generalities, without any criticisms, smooth and mild and full of positive thinking, all the time worrying that he might not have a job on Monday, if he exposes the sins of one of the elders, or even of the pastor or of one of his children.

We can learn from Pinchas that there are moments when a man has to stand for what is right and just and important to protect and defend what is right and what is holy, and God’s honor, even at a high personal cost. Every prophet of God has to have the courage to speak things that are not politically correct and not popular for the masses that are fed “politically correct” three times per day.

Here are the words of Jeremiah, who had a rich experience speaking and calling Israel and the leadership of Israel and the spiritual leadership of Jerusalem to order. Jeremiah experienced rejection and physical persecution and loss of status and severe treatment even to be expelled from his job as a priest in God’s house.

It is sometimes the right thing to do, to stand up against corrupt laws and evil practices and injustice and to speak out and protest the evil that is going on all around. Someone has to have the courage to stand up and take a clear stand to change the tide and protect God’s interests and the truth. This is why Pinchas was rewarded by God and made the chief of staff of all of Israel’s army.

The principle that I think that every man of God has to have in his calling is, first of all, commitment to honor God and His cause. Second, every man of God has to have courage to stand up against the majority against the politically correct culture and stand up for what is of God and what is holy and pure without calculating what he will personally gain, or what he might miss out on.

I pray that you and the leadership in your synagogue or church will be made up of the same kind of material as Pinchas, and have the character of Pinchas. To stand up for righteousness and holiness and justice in your camp.

If a person is not willing to stand up for God and for His word and defend what is right and to condemn what is wrong, he ought not to become a pastor or a preacher or even a teacher of God’s word. Who is going to stand up for God and for His word, and for The Torah and the prophets, and the New Testament of the good news, for the Jew first, and also for the Gentiles?

Stay on the side of faith and with God’s people, and don’t trust all the fake world politicians that want to destroy and uproot the Jewish nation of Israel from God’s promises. The goals of the greedy and power mongering world famous politicians are the same as the goals of Balak, King of Moab, and Balaam, the son of Beor.

Marcia’s mother is 91 years old and her condition (lung cancer) has become very serious. Her name is June. Please pray for June, Marcia’s mother.

Pray for the Lord’s mercy and that His grace be present and act for June’s comfort and to free her of all pain. Pray for Marcia and her brothers and their families to be strong and to appreciate the Lord’s mercy, and grace, in our human lives here on this Earth.

Standing on the promises of God!

Please pray for Israel and pray for the new government to have enough courage and wisdom to know how to apply everything that is good and holy and righteous for us in Israel and for our Arab neighbors.

Pray and support Netivyah during these very hard times, for opportunities to do good and to bless and feed and support the population of Israel, those in need whose number has increased by many percentage points during these difficult days in Israel.

Thank you, dear brothers, for praying for our dear sister Rita Sassai in Brazil. The Lord heard our prayers and our dear sister Rita is out of the hospital and at home. Please keep praying for sister Rita that she will continue to improve and be totally healed from the coronavirus. We are praying for Rita’s full healing and restoration of strength and energy to continue her ministry and take care of her family.

Sarit our dear sister is out of the hospital and in a convalescent home for a few weeks. We are happy that Sarit is recovering and enjoying now and soon returning to her home in Jerusalem.

We have many dear brothers and sisters in both India and Brazil who are still very much in serious trouble with the coronavirus situation and need our prayers. We need to continue to pray for India and Brazil and especially for our dear brothers and sisters in these two countries. I received a special prayer request from our dear brother Isaac in Chennai, India. Brother Isaac asked us to pray especially for sister Sheela Stephen. Sister Sheela’s lungs are in serious need of oxygen and right now oxygen is hard to find for coronavirus patients.

Please continue to pray for Marcia. Marcia’s cataract surgery went well and she is seeing much better but still taking medications. This is good but there are some other challenges of old age that we are both facing, but Marcia especially needs our prayers.

My left eye surgery is progressing and I do see with my left eye after 70 years of blindness. Thank you so much for your prayers and please continue to pray for my health and Marcia’s health and the health of my family.

The pandemic of the coronavirus is raising its head again in Israel and around the world with the mutation that came from India. Although Israel is in better shape than most of the world, please pray for the whole world and also mention Israel and your own country in your prayers.

Yudah Chamero returned from Colombia after the death of his father and is back at work and with his family.

Keep praying for the Rosenfeld family, the young and the old.

Please pray for a dear brother, Malcolm Thomas King from the UK. Malcolm is already a week in hospital in critical condition. I don’t have any new information from Malcolm and his family.

Please consider helping Netivyah to continue caring and feeding the poor of Jerusalem and blessing the people of this city that need help to feed their children and families.

Also we need your prayers and help to continue to do the Lord's work with the youth in Jerusalem.

Please pray for the Teaching from Zion publication that has been printed and distributed by the thousands around the world free of charge. You can also subscribe to receive the Teaching from Zion Magazine by mail, a hard copy. This too is free of charge. The Lord has always been faithful to supply our needs. He has also been precise and provided what we need, not too little and not too much.

The Hamotzi program for feeding the needy of Jerusalem is ongoing and has not stopped during most of the coronavirus lockdown and quarantine. The number of needy people who come to receive food from our program has increased and overall need has increased.

Please pray for Netivyah and for the Netivyah leadership and find ways to partner and participate in the great blessing that the ministry of Netivyah is here in Israel and also around the world. Please pray and seek ways to partner and contribute financially for the Lord’s work in Netivyah Bible Instruction Ministry.

Both Yehuda and I continue to teach on Zoom and on YouTube and on the Netivyah Facebook every week and sometimes every day. Please pray for these teachings to bear fruit for the Kingdom of God. Enjoy the very fine teaching and enjoy learning from God’s Word. It is all free of charge!

Please continue to pray for a very special kindergarten in Jerusalem “Little Hearts.” The director of this special kindergarten is one of our own from the congregation.

Keep praying for a dear sister, Livia Schnell Nothen. Please keep brother Philip Marc in your prayers. Pray for Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias. He is the father of a dear sister in Brazil.

Pray for all those wonderful, dedicated brothers and sisters in Korea who stood with Israel and with Netivyah to revive and to not forget their first love for Israel and for Netivyah.

Danah our daughter, needs much prayer for her health and her situation. Our granddaughter Noam is a senior in high school and working with Zoom to finish her high school. Pray for the Lord to give Noam guidance and direction for graduation from high school.

Our grandson Joseph also needs prayer to be able to get into college with proper scholarships. Please lift Barry our son and his family, Beth, and Joey our grandson to be protected and spared any contact and infection of the coronavirus. Marcia’s mother June is 91 years old and her health is failing.

I am adding a new prayer request from a leader of God’s people in India, Joy Mathew. Joy has a serious heart condition and has asked for prayer.

We have received many letters of gratitude and praise for our scholarship fund through which we support more than 40 Israeli disciples of Yeshua who are students in Israel’s fine academic institutions and universities.

The gratitude and appreciation of these students is such an encouragement and refreshing hope for the future generation of Jewish Disciples of Yeshua in this land. Netivyah has been doing this for longer than 30 years and we have generations of students from all of Israel and from most of the Messianic congregations in Israel.

For a season we had a special fund to support Arab Christian medical students and we have supported dozens of Arab Christians from the Galilee with their medical school studies. It is a great program that Netivyah started many years ago and the fruit of these scholarships has produced lawyers and doctors and pharmacists, nurses…

We need your prayers and your support to be able to continue this wonderful work of creating the next generation of disciples of Yeshua in this God-given land of Israel.

From Chennai, India, please remember Pastor Isaac. Pastor Isaac is an older man with severe kidney problems and has to have dialysis several times per week. Remember Tony and Louisa Tam, and our brothers and sisters at the 611 Church, and the other churches who love God and love Israel in that great city. Remember in your prayers the Cohen family in Hong Kong.

Just a word of grace before the mercy seat of the Almighty will be heard in favor of these brothers and Um Mahmud Abu-Eid and Jimmy Abu-Eid and his family, Keijo and Salme our dear brothers in Finland, Tim Tucker, Satu-Maria, Sinni Tuuli, Anne Mirjami our dear sister and all our other brothers and sisters in Finland who need our prayers, Eva H., Patty, Andrea, Julia and Victor, and Aaron Tani, and Hillel and his wife.

We continue to pray for Zhou Wenrian, Abe family, Toru San, Takeo Sensei, Daisuke Sensei, Tomoko San, Yumi and her father Pastor Ohara, George, and Pastor Isaac in Chennai, India.

Please pray for the Rantavaara family and especially for Pekka our dear brother and for his whole family. Pekka is in advanced stages of Parkinson and needs the Lord’s healing and strength.

I have just received a prayer request from a dear sister from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her father who is 70 years old and diabetic has contracted the COVID-19 virus. His name is Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias.

Please see your prayer as casting a vote for healing before the Lord and His angels in Heaven in favor of every brother and sister that you are praying for. Just a word of grace for all of us is a refreshing spirit. Take your prayers before the mercy seat of the Almighty to be heard in favor of those that you are lifting in prayer.

Keep praying for Guilherme Antonio Nathan Becker and his wife Artuza de Oliviera, also add Rachael and Daniel Webster and Lizette Nancy, and Jose Carlos from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Please keep in your prayers a dear sister who attends our congregation in Jerusalem. Her name is Hadassah and she just had cancer surgery. Pray for Hadassah for a full recovery and remission from any cancer in her body.

Pray for Israel. We are going through terrible riots and violence in the streets of Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv and other places around the country. These riots are motivated by the fact that much of the populace of Israel does not understand what the government is doing in relationship to the coronavirus pandemic.

I would like a new prayer request for a dear brother Yehuda Hochman who lives in the Negev Desert. Yehuda has to receive Dialysis treatment several times per week.

From our congregation in Jerusalem, we ask you to join us in prayer for the following dear brothers and sisters: Gary, Melanie, Sarit, Gabriela, Ahuva, Leah, Ilana, Hannah, young Gabriela, Jonathan B. and his wife Aviva and their new baby.

Pray for some dear friends, Rabbi Salt, and his family and Rabbi Hasselblad. They are both older and need protection and blessings.

Please pray for a new project that we are starting in Israel in partnership with the Houses for Healing ministry from Abilene, Texas.

Please pray for our two grandchildren. They are both graduating in a few weeks from high school. They are both facing this important change in their lives. Noam our granddaughter also has her 18th birthday on May 1st. This is a very big day for Noam. She will be free from high school and also from other obligations and be privileged to make her own decisions and choices in life. Pray for Noam on this major crossroad of life for her and ask the Lord to bless Noam and to give her clear direction and guidance for what is good and right and holy in her life.

Both Noam and Joseph, our two grandchildren, are extremely talented and good students. Both are “A” students and excellent young people, but both need divine protection and guidance to make good and smart and right choices for life.

When I was 18 years old and cut off from my family because of my faith in the Messiah, I had no one on my side and no one to guide me. The Lord’s providential leading and guidance was the only guide that I had. I praise the Lord for His goodness and direction in my life.

I pray that both Joseph and Noam will have such divine strength and vision for their own future that only right and good choices will be their gift from the Almighty God of Israel and Yeshua our Lord. 
 

I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish! The best is yet to come!
