예루살렘 기도 목록 – 2021년 6월 24일

지난 몇 달 동안 우리는 토라 포션 “발락”에서 읽는 사건들과 전개를 겪어오고 있습니다. 겉보기에는 같아 보이지 않지만 내용은 이번 안식일 토라 포션에서 읽는 것과 아주 흡사합니다.
이번 안식일 토라 포션은 민수기 22:2~25:9입니다. 선지서에서는 미가 5:6~6:8, 신약성경에서는 로마서 11:25-32를 읽습니다. 여러분이 이 세 본문을 집에서 읽으신다면 여러분 스스로 토라와 선지서와 신약성경에서 하나님의 말씀을 들을 수 있도록 큰 소리로 읽으십시오. 여러분은 문득 왜 전통적으로 이번 안식일에 이 특별한 본문들을 선택했는지 깨닫게 될 것입니다. 여러분은 안식일에 토라를 읽는 전통의 당위성을 이해하게 될 것입니다. “파라샷 발락”에는 뭐가 있습니까? 이스라엘 땅 동쪽에 아주 강력한 한 나라의 왕이 있고 그의 일생의 목표는 유대인들을 멸하는 것입니다. 그는 하나님의 지구의 지면에서 이스라엘 나라를 지워버리고 싶어 합니다. 토라는 그가 왜 이스라엘에 이런 해를 가하고 싶어 하는지 이유를 말하지 않습니다. 발락이 이 강력한 나라, 부자 나라의 왕입니다. 이스라엘은 그 나라에 해를 끼치거나 전쟁을 하거나 하나님께서 주신 저희 나라 국경 동쪽에 있는 그 나라를 정복하려는 의도가 없습니다. 그러나 발락은 그의 마음에 이스라엘은 제거되어야 한다는 마음을 먹었습니다. 발락이 혼자서는 그렇게 할 수 없는 것은, 이스라엘이 요단강 서쪽 땅에 들어가 정착하여 그것을 농원으로 만들고 적들을 쫓아낼 수 있다는 것을 알기 때문입니다. 발락은 그의 편에 서있는 광대한 군사력보다 훨씬 더 큰 힘이 이스라엘 편에 있다는 것을 압니다. 그는 마술과 사술과 강력한 외부적 조력으로 이스라엘을 제압할 수 있을 것이라고 생각했습니다. 그래서 모압왕 발락은 국제연합 중 가장 능력 있는 주술의 사부, 브올의 아들 발람 박사에게 갑니다. 이 브올의 아들 발람은 재능 있고 지혜가 있고 탐욕스럽고 나라들을 아주 잘 다룬다는 국제적인 평판이 있는 교활한 정치인입니다. 발락은 이 발람에게 가서, 와서 주술과 사술로 이스라엘을 멸해달라고 초청합니다. 발람은 가서 발락이 그에게 제안하는 산더미 같은 금과 부를 얻고 싶어 합니다. 발람도 하늘과 땅에서 다스리시는 가장 힘센 신이신 이스라엘의 하나님의 명성을 압니다. 이것 때문에 발람은 딜레마에 빠집니다. 한 편으로 그는 이스라엘을 대적하는 서비스의 대가로 그에게 제안된 부를 얻고 싶습니다. 다른 한 편으로 발람은 하나님의 능력과 하나님께서 이스라엘에게 하신 축복을 합니다. 발람도 이스라엘의 하나님과 교통하는 법을 압니다. 발람 박사가 해결해야 하는 딜레마가 얼마나 까다로운지요. 어떻게 하면 발락이 제안하는 부를 얻으면서도 하나님의 선한 편에 그대로 있을 수 있을까요. 오늘날 저희에게는 이런 나라들이 있습니다. 저희 나라 북쪽과 동쪽에 아무 합당한 이유 없이 저희를 멸하고 싶어 하는 나라들이 있습니다. 그들은 혼자서는 그렇게 못하기 때문에, 그들을 지지하고 그들에게 부를 주고 이 작지만 축복 받은 이스라엘 나라를 멸할 주술과 파괴무기를 제공해줄 힘센 동맹을 찾습니다. 이스라엘의 힘은 한 번도 저희 군대나, 군사의 수나, 저희 무기의 화력에서 온 적이 없습니다. 그것은 언제나 거인 골리앗에 맞선 작은 소년 다윗이었습니다. 그것은 언제나 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱의 주 하나님께서 막아 주신 전쟁이었습니다. 저희의 승리와 생존은 언제나 하나님께서 친히 하신 약속과 그분의 긍휼하심에 있었습니다. 저희 적들이 저희를 미워하는 것은, 저희에게 그들을 멸하고자 하는 소원이 있어서가 아니라, 우리에게 그런 소원이 없기 때문입니다. 이스라엘이 가진 단 하나의 소원은 그저 레반트의 한 귀퉁이, 하나님께서 주신 이 작은 땅에서 평화롭게 사는 것입니다. 저희 국경은 확장하고픈 저희의 소원에 의해 만들어진 것이 아니라, 하나님께서 저희 조상 아브라함에게 하신 약속에 의해 만들어진 것입니다. 저희에 대한 이런 합당하지 않은 중오는 우리가 한 무엇 때문에 오는 것이 아닙니다. 아브라함이 다음과 같이 말씀하시는 하나님의 음성을 들었을 때 이 나라가 생겨난 이래로 저희가 한 것은: “내가 너로 큰 민족을 이루고 네게 복을 주어 네 이름을 창대하게 하리니 너는 복이 될지라 너를 축복하는 자에게는 내가 복을 내리고 너를 저주하는 자에게는 내가 저주하리니 땅의 모든 족속이 너로 말미암아 복을 얻을 것이라 하신지라.” – 창세기 12:2,3 분명하고 축복된 역사적 사실은 이스라엘이 온 세상에 축복이 되어왔다는 것입니다. 세상의 모든 유대교 회당에서 모든 예배를 시작할 때 말하는 주술가 발람의 말은 참된 말입니다: “야곱이여 네 장막들이, 이스라엘이여 네 거처들이 어찌 그리 아름다운고!” – 민수기 24:5 사악한 발람의 이 말은 역사적으로 맞습니다. 유대민족은 저희 역사 첫 날부터 온 세상에 축복이 되어왔습니다. 유대민족이 온 세상에 축복이 되어온 아주 간략한 목록입니다: * 요셉은 애굽을 굶주림에서 구했습니다. * 저희는 온 세상을 위해 하나님의 말씀을 보존하고 붙들고 왔습니다. * 현대 세상에 기여한 수는 너무 많아서 이 기도 목록에 두꺼운 몇 권을 첨부하더라도 다 말하기 충분하지 않을 것입니다. 천만 명이 약간 안 되는 (그 중 유대인은 700만 명이 약간 안 되는) 이 작은 나라가 수십억에 달하는 다른 나라들보다 더 많은 노벨상을 탔습니다. * 이스라엘은 고대 세계의 여러 곳에서 이곳으로 왔던 여부스, 기르가스, 아모리, 블레셋, 브리스, 가나안 등 일곱 민족 사이에 나뉘어졌던 작은 가나안 땅에 정착했습니다. 이 민족들은 끊임없이 서로 전쟁했습니다. 이스라엘이 (당시 애굽의 한 도였던) 가나안 땅을 차지한 다음에는 이 지역에 안정을 가져왔습니다. 누가 발람을 막아 이스라엘을 대적하여 주술을 쓰지 못하게 했습니까? 그의 나귀가 그렇게 했습니다! 국제적으로 대단한 명성을 가진 대-발람 박사를 그의 나귀가 막았기 때문입니다. 나귀는 주의 사자가 손에 칼을 들고 발람을 막으려하시는 것을 볼 수 있었지만, 발람은 주의 사자를 보지도 듣지도 못했습니다. 이야기가 기니까 여기서는 초대교회 초대 제자들 중에, 제가 믿기로 오늘날도 마찬가지로, 발람의 영이 여전히 있었음을 우리에게 보여주는 신약성경 몇 구절을 알려 드리겠습니다: “그들이 바른 길을 떠나 미혹되어 브올의 아들 발람의 길을 따르는도다 그는 불의의 삯을 사랑하다가…” – 베드로후서 2:15 “화 있을진저 이 사람들이여, 가인의 길에 행하였으며 삯을 위하여 발람의 어그러진 길로 몰려 갔으며 고라의 패역을 따라 멸망을 받았도다.” – 유다서 1:11 “그러나 네게 두어 가지 책망할 것이 있나니 거기 네게 발람의 교훈을 지키는 자들이 있도다 발람이 발락을 가르쳐 이스라엘 자손 앞에 걸림돌을 놓아 우상의 제물을 먹게 하였고 또 행음하게 하였느니라.” – 요한계시록 2:14 저는 여기서 그칠 것인데요, 토라 포션 발락의 끝 부분이 다음 주 토라 포션 “핀하스(비느하스)”와 연결되어 있기 때문입니다. 제게 아주 중요한 또 다른 하나는 신약성경에서 읽는 부분인 로마서 11:25-32입니다. 이것을 읽으시기 바랍니다. 여러분은 결국에는 요단강과 지중해 사이 이 작은 한 조각의 땅에 정착하여 둥지를 튼 이 작은 이스라엘 민족이 구원을 받고, 축복 받고, 세상 모든 민족에 빛이 될 것이라는 것을 알고 이해하게 될 것입니다. 믿음직한 편에 그리고 하나님의 백성 편에 있으십시오. 그리고 이스라엘의 유대민족을 멸하여 하나님의 약속으로부터 발본하고 싶어 하는 세상의 모든 가짜 정치인들을 의뢰하지 마십시오. 탐욕스럽고 권력을 사고 파는 세상의 유명한 정치인들의 목표는 모압왕 발락과 브올의 아들 발람의 목표와 똑같습니다.
하나님의 약속 위에 서있네!

The Jerusalem Prayer List – June 24, 2021

These last few months we have been living through the events and developments that we read of in the Torah from the portion of Balak. The appearance is not the same but the substance is very close to what we read this Shabbat in the Torah.
The reading this Shabbat is from the book of Numbers 22:2 - 25:9. From the prophets we read from the book of Micah 5:6 - 6:8. From the New Testament we read from Romans 11:25-32. If you read these three texts at home and read them out loud you will hear yourself reading the word of God from the Torah, the prophets and from the New Testament. You will suddenly understand why tradition has chosen to read these three particular texts on this Shabbat. You will understand the logic of the tradition of reading the Torah on Shabbat. What do we have in Parashat Balak? We have a king of a very powerful nation east of the land of Israel whose goal in life is to destroy the Jewish people. He wants to delete the nation of Israel from the face of God’s earth. The Torah doesn’t say why he wants to do this harm to Israel. Balak is a king of a powerful nation, a rich nation. Israel has no intention to harm that nation or to wage war or conquer that nation east of the God-given borders of our land. However, Balak has set in his mind that Israel has to be eliminated. Balak can’t do it alone because he understands that Israel has been able to enter the land west of the Jordan River and settle it and make it into a garden and drive their enemies away. Balak understands that there is a much greater force on Israel’s side than the vast military force that stands on his side. He thinks that with magic, sorcery, and powerful help from outside, Israel can be subdued. So, Balak, King of Moab, goes to the United Nation’s most powerful master of witchcraft, Dr. Balaam, the son of Beor. This Balaam son of Beor is a talented, wise, greedy, and a crafty politician with an international reputation of success in derailing nations. Balak goes to this Balaam and invites him to come and destroy Israel by witchcraft and sorcery. Balaam wants to come and get the mountains of gold and riches that Balak is offering him. Balaam also knows the reputation of the God of Israel as the most powerful God that reigns both in Heaven and on Earth. This puts Balaam in a dilemma. On the one hand, he wants to get the riches offered to him for his services against Israel. On the other hand, Balaam knows the power of God and the blessings with which God has blessed Israel. Balaam also knows how to communicate with the God of Israel. What a dilemma Dr. Balaam has to resolve. How to get the riches that Balak is offering him and still stay on God’s good side. We have nations like these today. We have nations to the North and East of us that for no rational reason want to destroy us. They can’t do it alone, so they seek powerful allies to support them and enrich them and provide witchcraft and weapons of destruction to destroy this small but blessed nation of Israel. The power of Israel has never come from our army, or the number of our soldiers, or the power of our weapons. It has always been little boy David against the giant Goliath. It has always been a battle by the defense of the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Our victories and survival have always been dependent on the mercy and promises of God Himself. Our enemies hate us, not because we have a desire to destroy them, because we don’t have such a desire. The only desire that Israel has, is simply to live in peace in this small God-given corner of the Levant. Our borders have not been shaped by our desire to expand, but by the promises of God to Abraham our father. This irrational hate against us doesn’t come because of what we do. What we have done since the birth of this nation when Abraham heard God’s voice speaking: “I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” – Genesis 12:2,3 [NKJV] The clear and blessed fact of history is that Israel has been a blessing to the whole world. The words of Balaam the sorcerer that open every worship service at every Jewish Synagogue in the world are true: “How lovely are your tents, O Jacob! Your dwellings, O Israel!” – Numbers 24:5 [NKJV] These words of evil Balaam are historically true. The Jewish nation has been a blessing to the whole world from day one of our history. Here is a very short list of the blessings that the Jewish nation has been to the whole world: * Joseph saved Egypt from hunger. * We preserved and held the Word of God for the whole world. * The number of modern contributions to the world are so numerous that this prayer list along with several large volumes would not be sufficient to enumerate them. Just think that this small nation of less than 10,000,000 people (less than seven million of whom are Jewish), has more Nobel Prize winners than nations that have billions of inhabitants. * Israel settled the small land of Canaan that was divided between seven nations that had come here from various parts of the ancient world, Jebusites, Girgashites, Amorites, Philistines, Prizites, Canaanites, and more… These nations were in constant war with each other. Israel, after the conquest of the land of Canaan (that was an Egyptian province at the time), brought stability to the region. Who stopped Balaam from using his witchcraft against Israel? His donkey did! Because that big-time Dr. Balaam with the big-time international Re-Putin-nation, was stopped by his donkey. The donkey could see the angel of the Lord, with a sword in his hand, trying to stop Balaam, but Balaam could not see or hear the angel of the Lord. The story is long and here are some things from the New Testament that show us that among the early disciples, and in the days of the early church, and I believe even today, the spirit of Balaam still existed: “They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness…” – 2 Peter 2:15 [NKJV] “Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.” – Jude 1:11 “But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality.” – Revelation 2:14 [NKJV] I am stopping here because the end of the reading portion of Balak is connected with next week’s portion of the Torah, Pinchas (Phinehas). There is only one other thing that is of great importance to me, and that is the reading from the New Testament from Romans chapter 11:25-32. Please read it. You will know and understand that in the end, this small nation of Israel which settled and is nested in this small piece of land, between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, will be saved, blessed, and a light to all the nations of the world. Stay on the faithful side and with God’s people, and don’t trust all the fake world politicians that want to destroy and uproot the Jewish nation of Israel from God’s promises. The goals of the greedy and power mongering world famous politicians are the same as the goals of Balak, King of Moab, and Balaam, the son of Beor.
Standing on the promises of God!
Please pray for Israel and pray for the new government to have enough courage and wisdom to know how to apply everything that is good and holy and righteous for us in Israel and for our Arab neighbors.
Pray and support Netivyah during these very hard times, for opportunities to do good and to bless and feed and support the population of Israel, those in need whose number has increased by many percentage points during these difficult days in Israel.
Thank you, dear brothers, for praying for our dear sister Rita Sassai in Brazil. The Lord heard our prayers and our dear sister Rita is out of the hospital and at home. Please keep praying for sister Rita that she will continue to improve and be totally healed from the coronavirus. We are praying for Rita’s full healing and restoration of strength and energy to continue her ministry and take care of her family.
Please pray for a very dear sister and leader in one of our sister congregations in Vitoria Brazil, sister Rita Sassai. She is hospitalized with coronavirus, and is on a ventilator. It is urgent for you, and for all of us, to pray for Rita and beg God for her full recovery.
Sarit our sister from Jerusalem is still in the hospital and needs our prayer. She is passed 80 years old and needs our prayers.
We have many dear brothers and sisters in both India and Brazil who are still very much in serious trouble with the coronavirus situation and need our prayers. We need to continue to pray for India and Brazil and especially for our dear brothers and sisters in these two countries. I received a special prayer request from our dear brother Isaac in Chennai, India. Brother Isaac asked us to pray especially for sister Sheela Stephen. Sister Sheela’s lungs are in serious need of oxygen and right now oxygen is hard to find for coronavirus patients.
Please continue to pray for Marcia. Marcia’s cataract surgery went well and she is seeing much better but still taking medications. This is good but there are some other challenges of old age that we are both facing, but Marcia especially needs our prayers.
My left eye surgery is progressing and I do see with my left eye after 70 years of blindness. Thank you so much for your prayers and please continue to pray for my health and Marcia’s health and the health of my family.
The pandemic of the coronavirus is raising its head again in Israel and around the world with the mutation that came from India. Although Israel is in better shape than most of the world, please pray for the whole world and also mention Israel and your own country in your prayers.
Please pray for Yudah Chamero and his family. Yudah returned from Colombia last night and today we are going to visit him in this seventh day of his grieving for the death of his father.
Keep praying for the Rosenfeld family, the young and the old.
Please pray for a dear brother, Malcolm Thomas King from the UK. Malcolm is already a week in hospital in critical condition. I don’t have any new information from Malcolm and his family.
Please consider helping Netivyah to continue caring and feeding the poor of Jerusalem and blessing the people of this city that need help to feed their children and families.
Also we need your prayers and help to continue to do the Lord's work with the youth in Jerusalem.
Please pray for the Teaching from Zion publication that has been printed and distributed by the thousands around the world free of charge. You can also subscribe to receive the Teaching from Zion Magazine by mail, a hard copy. This too is free of charge. The Lord has always been faithful to supply our needs. He has also been precise and provided what we need, not too little and not too much.
The Hamotzi program for feeding the needy of Jerusalem is ongoing and has not stopped during most of the coronavirus lockdown and quarantine. The number of needy people who come to receive food from our program has increased and overall need has increased.
Please pray for Netivyah and for the Netivyah leadership and find ways to partner and participate in the great blessing that the ministry of Netivyah is here in Israel and also around the world. Please pray and seek ways to partner and contribute financially for the Lord’s work in Netivyah Bible Instruction Ministry.
Both Yehuda and I continue to teach on Zoom and on YouTube and on the Netivyah Facebook every week and sometimes every day. Please pray for these teachings to bear fruit for the Kingdom of God. Enjoy the very fine teaching and enjoy learning from God’s Word. It is all free of charge!
Please continue to pray for a very special kindergarten in Jerusalem “Little Hearts.” The director of this special kindergarten is one of our own from the congregation.
Keep praying for a dear sister, Livia Schnell Nothen. Please keep brother Philip Marc in your prayers. Pray for Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias. He is the father of a dear sister in Brazil.
Pray for all those wonderful, dedicated brothers and sisters in Korea who stood with Israel and with Netivyah to revive and to not forget their first love for Israel and for Netivyah.
Danah our daughter, needs much prayer for her health and her situation. Our granddaughter Noam is a senior in high school and working with Zoom to finish her high school. Pray for the Lord to give Noam guidance and direction for graduation from high school.
Our grandson Joseph also needs prayer to be able to get into college with proper scholarships. Please lift Barry our son and his family, Beth, and Joey our grandson to be protected and spared any contact and infection of the coronavirus. Marcia’s mother June is 91 years old and her health is failing.
I am adding a new prayer request from a leader of God’s people in India, Joy Mathew. Joy has a serious heart condition and has asked for prayer.

We have received many letters of gratitude and praise for our scholarship fund through which we support more than 40 Israeli disciples of Yeshua who are students in Israel’s fine academic institutions and universities.
The gratitude and appreciation of these students is such an encouragement and refreshing hope for the future generation of Jewish Disciples of Yeshua in this land. Netivyah has been doing this for longer than 30 years and we have generations of students from all of Israel and from most of the Messianic congregations in Israel.
For a season we had a special fund to support Arab Christian medical students and we have supported dozens of Arab Christians from the Galilee with their medical school studies. It is a great program that Netivyah started many years ago and the fruit of these scholarships has produced lawyers and doctors and pharmacists, nurses…
We need your prayers and your support to be able to continue this wonderful work of creating the next generation of disciples of Yeshua in this God-given land of Israel.

Pray for Sister Yoko Nagumo in Japan. Sister Yoko had a stroke, and we pray that her recovery will be quick and complete.
From Chennai, India, please remember Pastor Isaac. Pastor Isaac is an older man with severe kidney problems and has to have dialysis several times per week. Remember Tony and Louisa Tam, and our brothers and sisters at the 611 Church, and the other churches who love God and love Israel in that great city. Remember in your prayers the Cohen family in Hong Kong.

Please pray for the Rantavaara family and especially for Pekka our dear brother and for his whole family. Pekka is in advanced stages of Parkinson and needs the Lord’s healing and strength.
I have just received a prayer request from a dear sister from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her father who is 70 years old and diabetic has contracted the COVID-19 virus. His name is Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias.
Please see your prayer as casting a vote for healing before the Lord and His angels in Heaven in favor of every brother and sister that you are praying for. Just a word of grace for all of us is a refreshing spirit. Take your prayers before the mercy seat of the Almighty to be heard in favor of those that you are lifting in prayer.

Please keep in your prayers a dear sister who attends our congregation in Jerusalem. Her name is Hadassah and she just had cancer surgery. Pray for Hadassah for a full recovery and remission from any cancer in her body.
Pray for Israel. We are going through terrible riots and violence in the streets of Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv and other places around the country. These riots are motivated by the fact that much of the populace of Israel does not understand what the government is doing in relationship to the coronavirus pandemic.
I would like a new prayer request for a dear brother Yehuda Hochman who lives in the Negev Desert. Yehuda has to receive Dialysis treatment several times per week.
From our congregation in Jerusalem, we ask you to join us in prayer for the following dear brothers and sisters: Gary, Melanie, Sarit, Gabriela, Ahuva, Leah, Ilana, Hannah, young Gabriela, Jonathan B. and his wife Aviva and their new baby.

Please pray for our two grandchildren. They are both graduating in a few weeks from high school. They are both facing this important change in their lives. Noam our granddaughter also has her 18th birthday on May 1st. This is a very big day for Noam. She will be free from high school and also from other obligations and be privileged to make her own decisions and choices in life. Pray for Noam on this major crossroad of life for her and ask the Lord to bless Noam and to give her clear direction and guidance for what is good and right and holy in her life.
Both Noam and Joseph, our two grandchildren, are extremely talented and good students. Both are “A” students and excellent young people, but both need divine protection and guidance to make good and smart and right choices for life.
When I was 18 years old and cut off from my family because of my faith in the Messiah, I had no one on my side and no one to guide me. The Lord’s providential leading and guidance was the only guide that I had. I praise the Lord for His goodness and direction in my life.
I pray that both Joseph and Noam will have such divine strength and vision for their own future that only right and good choices will be their gift from the Almighty God of Israel and Yeshua our Lord.
I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish! The best is yet to come!
