예루살렘 기도 목록 – 2021년 9월 30일

매년 진짜 새로운 시작이 있는 민족, 문화, 종교 단체는 아주 드뭅니다. 전통을 지키는 유대인들은 매년 진짜 새로운 시작이 있습니다.
아니오, 저는 양력 새해를 말하는 것이 아니라, 유대인의 민간력 새해인 로쉬 하샤나를 말하는 것입니다. 제가 말씀드리는 것은 모든 회당에서 성경을 공중 낭독을 다시 시작하는 것입니다! 숙콧(장막절) 마지막 날, 전 세계 모든 유대인 (또는 메시아닉 유대인) 회당에서는 신명기 마지막 두 장을 읽고 두루마리를 다시 처음으로 말아 창세기 1장을 읽습니다. 이번 안식일에 우리는 다시 창세기 토라 포션으로 돌아가고 이사야 42:5~43:10과 요한복음 1:1-15을 읽습니다. 우리는 이런 풍습을 신약성경에서 몇 번 볼 수 있습니다. 예슈아께서는 고향 나사렛에 오셨고 공동체의 예우로 선지서 이사야 61장을 읽으셨습니다: “예수께서 그 자라나신 곳 나사렛에 이르사 안식일에 늘 하시던 대로 회당에 들어가사 성경을 읽으려고 서시매.” – 누가복음 4:16 이런 예우는 공동체에서 존경받는 성원에게 주어지는데요, 주로 그 주에 생일이 있는 사람에게 주어집니다. 사도들은 공동체에 있는 비-유대인 형제들에게 매주 회당에 가서 “모세의 글 낭독”을 듣는 것을 권했습니다: “이는 예로부터 각 성에서 모세를 전하는 자가 있어 안식일마다 회당에서 그 글을 읽음이라 하더라.” – 사도행전 15:21 사람들은 오늘날처럼 주머니 속이나 휴대폰 안에 성경이 없었습니다. 심지어 보통의 회당에서도 모세오경과 같은 성경의 일부조차 갖고 있는 일이 드물었습니다. 우리는 사도 바울이 소아시아와 그리스를 두루 다니며 안식일마다 회당에 간 것과, 자주 토라 말씀을 읽고 말씀을 나눠달라고 청함을 받은 것에 대해 읽을 수 있습니다. 이런 일은 대부분의 기독교인들에게서 완전히 무시당합니다. 제 기독교인 형제자매들에게 있는 가장 심각한 문제 중 하나는 그들이 교회로부터 성경 말씀에서 지적인 질문을 하도록 배우지 못한다는 것입니다. 성경에서 지적이고 어려운 질문을 하는 것이 권장되지 않았습니다. 어떻게 사도 바울은 한 마을에 도착하여 안식일에 그 고장 회당에 가자마자, 토라에서 말씀을 읽고 설교해달라고 청함을 받았던 걸까요? 바울이 한 마을의 이방인인 전형적인 20세기 기독교인으로서 가슴에 작은 금십자가 목걸이를 걸고 아침식사로 먹은 베이컨 냄새를 풍기며 그 고장 회당 안으로 걸어 들어갔다면, 그 유대인들이 그에게 올라와서 토라에서 말씀을 읽고 설교해달라고 청할 거라고 생각하십니까? “율법과 선지자의 글을 읽은 후에 회당장들이 사람을 보내어 물어 이르되 형제들아 만일 백성을 권할 말이 있거든 말하라 하니.” – 사도행전 13:15 우리는 특히 사도행전 17:10-15에서 흥미로운 이야기를 볼 수 있습니다: “밤에 형제들이 곧 바울과 실라를 베뢰아로 보내니 그들이 이르러 유대인의 회당에 들어가니라 베뢰아에 있는 사람들은 데살로니가에 있는 사람들보다 더 너그러워서 간절한 마음으로 말씀을 받고 이것이 그러한가 하여 날마다 성경을 상고하므로 그 중에 믿는 사람이 많고 또 헬라의 귀부인과 남자가 적지 아니하나 데살로니가에 있는 유대인들은 바울이 하나님의 말씀을 베뢰아에서도 전하는 줄을 알고 거기도 가서 무리를 움직여 소동하게 하거늘 형제들이 곧 바울을 내보내어 바다까지 가게 하되 실라와 디모데는 아직 거기 머물더라 바울을 인도하는 사람들이 그를 데리고 아덴까지 이르러 그에게서 실라와 디모데를 자기에게로 속히 오게 하라는 명령을 받고 떠나니라.” – 사도행전 17:10–15 이번 안식일에 우리는 다시 창세기부터 읽기 시작합니다. 성경 전체에서 가장 중요하고 근본적인 말씀은 창세기 1:1 “태초에 하나님이 천지를 창조하시니라!”입니다. 히브리어로 이 구절은 일곱 단어입니다! 저는 성경이 우연히 일곱 단어로 시작했다고 생각하지 않습니다. 그리고 이 일곱 단어는 성경 전체에서 가장 중요한 하나님의 말씀입니다. 이것에 대해 한 번 생각해 보십시오! 히브리어 성경에 “이스라엘의 하나님”이라는 문구는 203회 나옵니다. 세상에서 우상숭배를 뿌리 뽑고, 하나님을 아는 지식을 땅 끝까지 퍼뜨리고, 인류에게 서로 사랑하라고 가르치고, 소경과 귀거머리도 권력자들과 부자들과 똑같이 존중하도록 가르치는 도구로 아브라함과 그의 씨를 선택하신 이 하나님께서 하늘과 땅을 창조하신 바로 그 하나님입니다! 창세기 1:1이 가르치고 확증하는 함의 몇 가지는 이렇습니다: 1. 이 세상은 영과 진리이신 하나님께서 창조하신 것이다. 그분께서는 형상이 없으시며, 그분을 나타낼 성전이나 기념물이나 성상도 필요치 않다. 2. 우리 세계의 모든 것은 가장 작은 것에서부터 가장 큰 것에 이르기까지 창조되고 존재하는데, 창조주께서 그분의 세상에 존재하도록 설계하시고 계획하시고 원하시고 필요케 하셨기 때문이다. 3. 창조주께서는 우리의 작은 행성인 지구만 창조하신 것이 아니라, 온 우주(태양계)를 창조하셨다. 이것은 우리 하나님께서 작은 인간인 우리가 상상할 수 있는 것보다 훨씬 훨씬 더 크시다는 뜻입니다! 우리의 세상을 창조하셨고 아담과 이브의 자손인 우리 인간은 한 피에서 창조되었습니다! “인류의 모든 족속을 한 혈통으로 만드사 온 땅에 살게 하시고 그들의 연대를 정하시며 거주의 경계를 한정하셨으니…” – 사도행전 17:26 이 말씀이 우리의 세상에 대해 가지는 중요성은 한이 없습니다. 기독교인들이 성령님의 이 말씀을 믿었다면, 인종차별주의도 없었고, 반-유대주의도 없었고, 한 종족이 다른 종족에 대한 학대도 없었을 것이며, 무엇보다 이 세상에서 우리 삶이 훨씬 더 유쾌하고 형제애가 넘쳤을 것입니다. 4. 하나님께서 우리의 세상과 그 안의 모든 것을 창조하시 않으셨다면, 다른 창조자가 있어야 한다. 그렇지 않다면, 우리의 세상과 우리 자신은 우주의 우연에 불과한 것이 됩니다. 우리가 단지 우주의 우연뿐이라면, 모든 도덕성, 예의, 공정, 옳고 그름, 인권은 완전이 아무 의미가 없는 것이 됩니다! 우리는 정글보다 더 못한 존재가 됩니다. 정글에는 규칙과 원칙이 있고, 동물의 왕국에도 동물들 간에 존중과 지혜가 있습니다. 창세기 1:1은 성경 전체에서 가장 중요하고 근본적인 구절입니다! 이 구절이 우리에게 가르치는 가장 중요한 점은 하나님께서는 모든 우상숭배자들이 받드는 자연의 일부가 아니며, 자연을 초월하시고 그 바깥에 계시다는 것입니다! 여느 창작자나 예술가처럼, 이 예술가께서 그림을 지으셨습니다. 그분께서는 이 그림의 소유주시며 창작자시지만, 그분의 서명과 지문이 그분의 창조물에 있을지라도, 그분께서는 이 그림의 바깥에 계십니다. 창세기 1:1이 없다면 성경 전부가 완전히 아무 의미 없어질 것이며, 이 구절은 지금까지도 진짜 이해하고 소화하기 가장 어려운 구절입니다. 이 구절을 계속 묵상하십시오. 이 구절은 여러분이 믿음과 특별한 힘으로 이생을 지나갈 수 있도록 도와줄 것입니다. 창세기 1:1부터 성경을 읽기 시작하여 끝까지 완독하십시오.

하나님의 이름으로 가장 중요하고 가장 효과적인 선한 일들에 축복이 될 선택을 하는 판단을 테스트하는 것이며, 주님을 영화롭게 하며 우리의 충성됨을 보여주도록 후하고 선한 마음으로 주는 자선을 테스트하는 것입니다.

저희 두 손주 노암과 죠셉 둘 다 아주 재능이 많고 착한 학생들입니다. 둘 다 “A” 학생이며 뛰어난 젊은이들이지만 둘 다 인생을 위해 선하고 똑똑하고 바른 선택을 하기 위해 하나님의 보호와 인도가 필요합니다.
제가 열여덟 살이었을 때 메시아를 믿는 믿음 때문에 집에서 쫓겨났을 때, 저는 제 편이 아무도 없었고 저를 인도해 줄 사람이 아무도 없었습니다. 주님의 도우시는 이끄심과 인도만이 저에게 유일한 인도함이었습니다. 저는 제 인생에 있어온 주님의 선하심과 지도로 인해 주님을 찬양합니다.

There are very few nations and cultures and religious groups that have a real new beginning, every year. Jews that observe tradition have a true new beginning every year.
No, I am not talking about New Year, nor Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish traditional new year. I am talking about starting over reading the Bible in public in every synagogue! On the last day of the feast of Sukkot (Tabernacles), all around the world in every Jewish (or Messianic Jewish) synagogue, we read the last chapters of the book of Deuteronomy and roll the scroll back to the beginning and read the first chapter of Genesis. This Shabbat we return to read the portion of Genesis in the Torah, and Isaiah 42:5 – 43:10, and the Gospel of John 1:1-15. This practice we can find in the New Testament several times. Yeshua comes to his hometown Nazareth and He is honored by the community to read from the prophets from Isaiah chapter 61: “So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.” – Luke 4:16 [NKJV] This honor is given to respected members of the community and usually to someone who has a birthday on that week. The apostles recommend for our non-Jewish brothers in the community to go to the synagogues every Shabbat in order to hear “Moses being read”: “For Moses has had throughout many generations those who preach him in every city, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath.” – Acts 15:21 [NKJV] People didn’t have bibles in their pockets or on their phones like today. Even a part of the Bible, like the five books of Moses, the Torah, was rare to have, even in normal synagogues. We read about the apostle Paul who traveled through Asia Minor and Greece, and every Shabbat went to a synagogue, and often was invited to read from the Torah and to preach. This phenomenon is totally ignored by most Christians. One of the most serious problems with my Christian brothers and sisters is that they are not being taught by their churches to ask intelligent questions from the scriptures. Intelligent and difficult questions from the Bible are not encouraged. How is it that the apostle Paul, for whom it didn’t take long after arriving in a town to go on Shabbat to the local synagogue, immediately get invited to read from the Torah and to preach? If Paul were a typical 20th Century Christian, a stranger in town, and he walked into the local synagogue wearing a small golden cross on his chest, and having the smell of bacon from his breakfast, do you think that those Jews would invite him to come up and read from the Torah and to teach? And after the reading of the Law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, “Men and brethren, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.” – Acts 13:15 [NKJV] We find a specially interesting story in Acts 17:10-15, “Then the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. Therefore many of them believed, and also not a few of the Greeks, prominent women as well as men. But when the Jews from Thessalonica learned that the word of God was preached by Paul at Berea, they came there also and stirred up the crowds. Then immediately the brethren sent Paul away, to go to the sea; but both Silas and Timothy remained there. So those who conducted Paul brought him to Athens; and receiving a command for Silas and Timothy to come to him with all speed, they departed.” – Acts 17:10–15 [NKJV] This Shabbat we are going to start again reading from Genesis. The most important and foundational text of the whole Bible is Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning Elohim (God) created the Heavens and the Earth!” In Hebrew this verse has seven words! I don’t think that the Bible starts with seven words accidentally and these seven words are the most important word of God in the whole Bible. Just think about it! In the Hebrew Bible the phrase: “God of Israel” appears 203 times. This God, who has chosen Abraham and his seed to be the instrument that will eradicate idolatry from the world, that will spread the knowledge of God to the ends of the Earth, they will teach mankind to love one another, to respect the blind, and deaf, just the same as the powerful and rich – it is the God who created the heavens and the Earth! Here some of the implications that Genesis chapter 1:1 teaches and confirms: 1. This world was created by a God that is a spirit and truth. He has no image, nor does He need temples and monuments and statues to represent Him. 2. Everything in our world, from the smallest to the greatest, was created and exists because the Creator designed it and planned it and wanted it and needed to have it exist in His world. 3. The Creator created not only our small planet Earth, but our whole universe (solar system). This means that our God is much much bigger than we, small humans, can even imagine! The creation of our world and of us, as human beings, children of Adam and Eve, are created of one blood! “And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings…” – Acts 17:26 [NKJV] There is no end to the importance of this text for our world. If Christians would have believed this word of the Holy Spirit – there would have been no racism, no anti-Semitism, no abuse of one race against another, and above all, our life in this world would be so much more pleasant and brotherly. 4. If God didn’t create our world and everything in it, there must be another creator, or our world, and we ourselves, are nothing more than a cosmic accident. If we are only a cosmic accident, all morality, civility, justice, right and wrong, civil rights, become totally irrelevant! We are worse than a jungle. The jungle has rules and principles, and even the animal kingdom has respect and wisdom among the animals. Genesis 1:1 is the most important and foundational text in the whole Bible! The most important thing that this text teaches us is that God is not a part of nature like all the idolaters hold, but above and outside of nature! Just like any creator or artist the artist made the picture. He is the owner and creator of the picture, but he is outside of the picture, although His signature and finger prints are on His creation. The entire Bible would be totally meaningless without Genesis 1:1, and even until now it is the most difficult verse to really understand and digest. Keep meditating on this verse it will help you pass this life with faith and special strength. Start reading your Bible from Genesis 1:1 all the way to the end. Please continue praying for the Christian brothers and sisters who are left in Afghanistan in the hands of the Taliban. These brothers and sisters are in grave physical danger for their lives.
Please pray for Steve (Asher) Mock, one of my disciples, a man of God, who is in ICU in San Diego, CA. Asher had a second big (CVA) stroke with massive bleeding in the brain. The latest news is that the bleeding stopped. Prayer for divine healing and restoration is needed for Steve (Asher) Mock!
Our dear friend Mahmud Abu-Eid’s sister Gouzlan is very sick, and also Mahmud’s mother needs our prayers. The Abu-Eid family is one of the finest and dearest family of Palestinian friends and soul brothers that we have. Please lift them up in your prayers.
Keep the Israeli government in your prayers. The Coronavirus is again raging in our land and the new mutations are spreading throughout the land. People are getting vaccinated with the third vaccine shot, but it will take some weeks for the situation to stabilize.
Pray and support Netivyah during these very hard times, for opportunities to do good and to bless and feed and support the population of Israel, those in need whose number has increased by many percentage points during these difficult days in Israel.
Pray for our opportunities to do good and to be a blessing to the needy population in Jerusalem, and to believers who are students at the universities. God gives opportunities of joy and privilege and every opportunity that the Lord gives us to do good and to be a blessing is also a test of our judgement and charity.
A test of our judgment is to make choices that are going to bless the most important and the most effective good works in God’s name. The test of our charity is to give generously and with a good heart in order to honor our Lord and show our faithfulness.
Stand with us and enjoy the blessings! It is very very seldom that I appeal for financial support for Netivyah. However, the situation with the Coronavirus in Israel like in the whole world has opened opportunities to do good and bless people (not only disciples of Yeshua) and to share the love and care of the Lord in a tangible way that has no comparison.
Pray for your personal enemies if you have any, and especially for Israel’s enemies and terrorist states like Iran, and the Hamas in Gaza, and the Hizballah in Gaza and Lebanon… This is important, because when you pray for the good of these enemies you are actually heaping hot coal on their head. (See Romans 12, the last verses.)

These families will have no lack on their holiday tables and their families will be able to bless the Lord for His mercy endures forever through your contributions and generosity.
The needs in the neighborhoods of Jerusalem are growing because of the unemployment during this period of the Coronavirus, and the needs of these dear people are growing. In order to supply food to the increased number of families that we are helping, we need the Lord to impress you, our dear brothers around the world, to also increase your prayers for Jerusalem, and to take advantage of the opportunities that the Lord is giving you to help others.

From Chennai, India, please remember Pastor Isaac. Pastor Isaac is an older man with severe kidney problems and has to have dialysis several times per week. Remember Tony and Louisa Tam, and our brothers and sisters at the 611 Church, and the other churches who love God and love Israel in that great city. Remember in your prayers the Cohen family in Hong Kong.

Pray for Hadassah for a full recovery and remission from any cancer in her body.
Pray for Israel. We are going through terrible riots and violence in the streets of Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv and other places around the country. These riots are motivated by the fact that much of the populace of Israel does not understand what the government is doing in relationship to the Coronavirus pandemic.
I would like a new prayer request for a dear brother Yehuda Hochman who lives in the Negev Desert. Yehuda has to receive Dialysis treatment several times per week.

Please pray for our two grandchildren. They are both graduating in a few weeks from high school. They are both facing this important change in their lives. Noam our granddaughter also had her 18th birthday on May 1st. This was a very big day for Noam. She is free from high school and also from other obligations and is privileged to make her own decisions and choices in life. Pray for Noam on this major crossroad of life for her and ask the Lord to bless Noam and to give her clear direction and guidance for what is good and right and holy in her life.
Both Noam and Joseph, our two grandchildren, are extremely talented and good students. Both are “A” students and excellent young people, but both need divine protection and guidance to make good and smart and right choices for life.
When I was 18 years old and cut off from my family because of my faith in the Messiah, I had no one on my side and no one to guide me. The Lord’s providential leading and guidance was the only guide that I had. I praise the Lord for His goodness and direction in my life.
I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish! The best is yet to come!
