예루살렘 기도 목록 – 2022년 3월 28일

요전 안식일 토라와 선지서 포션은 “셰미니”라고 하는 레위기 9:1~11:47입니다. 이 안식일은 특별 안식일 중 하나기도 하여 “파라샷 파라” 라고 하는 추가 포션 – 민수기 19:1-22 - 이 있습니다.
선지서에서 우리가 추가적으로 더 읽는 본문, “파라”는 에스겔 36:16-36입니다. 저는 신약성경에서는 히브리서 13장을 모두 읽을 것을 추천합니다. 제가 히브리서에서 이 본문을 추천하는 이유는 이 본문이 토라 포션과 에스겔 36장에서 읽는 포션과 직접적으로 연관되어 있기 때문입니다. 저는 대부분의 기독교인들과 심지어 지도자들조차 이러한 연관성, “파라”와 히브리서 13장 사이의 관계에 대해 친숙하지 않다는 것을 압니다. 그 때문에 저는 히브리서 본문부터 시작하여 토라 포션과 에스겔 본문으로 되돌아갈 것입니다. 히브리서 13:10-16에서 우리는 이 말씀을 봅니다: “우리에게 제단이 있는데 장막에서 섬기는 자들은 그 제단에서 먹을 권한이 없나니 이는 죄를 위한 짐승의 피는 대제사장이 가지고 성소에 들어가고 그 육체는 영문 밖에서 불사름이라 그러므로 예수도 자기 피로써 백성을 거룩하게 하려고 성문 밖에서 고난을 받으셨느니라 그런즉 우리도 그의 치욕을 짊어지고 영문 밖으로 그에게 나아가자 우리가 여기에는 영구한 도성이 없으므로 장차 올 것을 찾나니 그러므로 우리는 예수로 말미암아 항상 찬송의 제사를 하나님께 드리자 이는 그 이름을 증언하는 입술의 열매니라 오직 선을 행함과 서로 나누어 주기를 잊지 말라 하나님은 이같은 제사를 기뻐하시느니라.” – 히브리서 13:10-16 보통, 광야 성막과 예루살렘 성전에서는 성막에서 섬기는 이들인 제사장들과 레위인들은 제단에 드려진 고기 중에 허용된 부분을 먹을 배타적 권한이 있는 이들입니다. 그러면, 히브리서 저자는 무엇에 대해 말하고 있는 것일까요? 성막과 예루살렘 성전에서 드려진 모든 동물은 성전과 성막의 거룩한 구내에서 드려졌습니다. 딱 한 희생제물만 완전히 불살라져 제사장이나 레위인 아무도 먹을 수 없는 것이 있었습니다. 그것은 붉은 암송아지 “파라 아두마” 제물입니다. 다음은 민수기 19:1-6 본문입니다: “여호와께서 모세와 아론에게 말씀하여 이르시되 여호와께서 명령하시는 법의 율례를 이제 이르노니 이스라엘 자손에게 일러서 온전하여 흠이 없고 아직 멍에 메지 아니한 붉은 암송아지를 네게로 끌어오게 하고 너는 그것을 제사장 엘르아살에게 줄 것이요 그는 그것을 진영 밖으로 끌어내어서 자기 목전에서 잡게 할 것이며 제사장 엘르아살은 손가락에 그 피를 찍고 그 피를 회막 앞을 향하여 일곱 번 뿌리고 그 암소를 자기 목전에서 불사르게 하되 그 가죽과 고기와 피와 똥을 불사르게 하고 동시에 제사장은 백향목과 우슬초와 홍색 실을 가져다가 암송아지를 사르는 불 가운데에 던질 것이며” – 민수기 19:1-6 붉은 암송아지는 하나님께서 이스라엘 자손에게 진영 밖, 즉 성막 밖, 예루살렘 성전 밖에서 드리라 명하신 유일한 제물입니다. 이 붉은 암송아지 제물은 아주 중요한 제물입니다. 그렇습니다, 제사장들과 레위인들은 이 제물에서 아무 것도 먹지 못하지만, 이 제물이 없이는 거룩한 진영이나 의례적으로 부정한 사람들을 정결케 함도 없을 것이며, 그렇게 되면 거룩한 권리에 참여함도, 예루살렘 성전 혹은 광야 성막에서의 제사도 없을 것입니다. 이 붉은 암송아지 제물의 재는 남편에게 정절을 지키지 않았다고 의심을 받는 아내의 의심을 해소하기 위해서도 사용되었습니다(민수기 5장, 정절을 의심받는 여인에 관한 법). 붉은 암송아지 제물은 여러 모로 독특했는데요, 이것은 나병과 다른 전염성 있는 질병으로부터 정결케 되는 유일한 방법이기도 했습니다. 친애하는 형제자매님들, 저는 여러분께 이것이 진영 밖 제단에서 드려진 유일한 제물이라는 것을 상기시켜 드립니다. 사실, 지금 우리는 이 붉은 암송아지 제사가 어디에서 있었는지 압니다. 이것은 에세네 공동체가 예루살렘에서 멀리 떨어진 곳에 진영을 만든 쿰란이라고 부르는 사해 옆 광야에서 있었습니다. 최근 쿰란 근처 동굴 중 한 곳에서 큰 발견이 있었습니다. 최근 고고학자들이 발견한 것은 에스더서의 일부 조각이었습니다. 이것은 주전 1세기에서 주후 1세기에 쿰란에 살았던 사람들이 에스더서를 가지고 있었고 그것을 정경의 일부라고 여겼음을 가리키는 것입니다. 에스더서는 성령의 감동을 받아 거룩하다고 여겨져 마지막에 받아들여진 책들에 드는 책이었습니다. 사실 쿰란 근처에서 붉은 암송아지가 불살라진 장소를 발견한 사람은 빈달 존스라는 전-침례교 선교사였습니다. 그는 잃어버린 언약궤와 노아의 방주와 성경에서 언급된 다른 잃어버린 유물을 찾아다니던 아마추어 고고학자였습니다. 영화 인디애나 존스의 캐릭터는 모두 빈달 존스의 페르소나로 본을 삼은 것이었습니다. 빈달은 저희 네티비야 사역 설립과 시작 때 저희에게 크게 도움을 주었습니다. 여러 달 동안 극정통 유대교 과격파의 핍박을 겪자, 존스 형제님은 우리에게 나르키스 스트리트에 있는 침례교 건물을 월세 100달러에 사용하라고 제안했습니다. 그 금액에는 청소비와, 쿠키, 커피, 차와, 나중에 앞서 말한 극정통 유대교 과격파가 방화한 침례교회 뒤에 있었던, 로버트 엘(L.) 린제이 박사와 함께 사용한 사무실 공간을 포함한 것이었습니다. 우리 본문으로 다시 돌아갑니다: “그러므로 예수도 자기 피로써 백성을 거룩하게 하려고 성문 밖에서 고난을 받으셨느니라 그런즉 우리도 그의 치욕을 짊어지고 영문 밖으로 그에게 나아가자 우리가 여기에는 영구한 도성이 없으므로 장차 올 것을 찾나니 그러므로 우리는 예수로 말미암아 항상 찬송의 제사를 하나님께 드리자 이는 그 이름을 증언하는 입술의 열매니라 오직 선을 행함과 서로 나누어 주기를 잊지 말라 하나님은 이같은 제사를 기뻐하시느니라.” – 히브리서 13:12-16 이 본문은 대부분의 복음주의 목사님들이 자주 간과하는데요, 주된 이유는 이 본문이 대부분의 복음주의 교회들에 동기 부여하는 패러다임과 연관되어 있지 않기 때문입니다. 그리고 이 본문은 이해하기도 어렵습니다. 히브리서 저자는 형제자매님들에게 예슈아의 죽음과 부활이 “진영(영문) 밖”에서 일어났다는 것을 인지할 것을 촉구하고 있습니다. 히브리서 저자에게 예슈아는 진영 밖에서 드린 붉은 암송아지 제사의 체현이었습니다. 히브리서에서 “진영 밖”은 여러 가지 의미가 있습니다. 이것은 오늘날 “틀을 벗어난”이라는 뜻입니다. 이것은 “당시 유대인 지도자의 합의에 벗어난”이라는 뜻이기도 합니다. 이것은 또 지리적 의미로 “진영 밖”, 즉 예루살렘과 성전 제사 밖이라는 뜻이기도 합니다. 저자는 제자들에게 예루살렘이 곧 무너지게 된다는 것을 알라고 촉구하고 있습니다(히브리서를 쓴 지 얼마 되지 않아 정말로 그렇게 되었습니다). 히브리서는 초대교회 제자들이 찾는 예루살렘은 영구한 도성 예루살렘, 즉 히브리서 11장에서 아브라함이 기다리던 바로 그 예루살렘이라는 선언도 하고 있습니다. 그런 다음 15절에 “그러므로”가 옵니다. 우리는 찬양의 제사, 감사로 우리 입술의 열매(동일한 것을 기대하는 호세아 14장에 근거한)를 드려야 합니다. 히브리서 저자에게는 예슈아가 붉은 암송아지였습니다. 진영 밖은 예슈아의 죽음과 예루살렘 성전 파괴 후 우리 예슈아의 제자들이 죄로부터의 대속과 우리 영혼의 정결케 함을 찾을 수 있는 유일한 곳입니다. 16절의 간곡한 권유는 오늘날 우리에게도 아주 중요합니다. 저자는 우리에게 두 가지를 상기시키는데요, 이 두 가지는 오늘날 우리도 마음에 간직해야 하는 것입니다: “오직 선을 행함과 서로 나누어 주기를 잊지 말라 하나님은 이같은 제사를 기뻐하시느니라.” – 히브리서 13:16 선을 행한다는 것은 선한 행위를 하라는 뜻이고 서로 나누어준다는 것은 우리의 육적인 것과 영적인 것 둘 다를 나누어주라는 뜻인데요, 특히 예슈아께서 우리를 위해 기꺼이 진영 밖으로 나가, 영문 밖에서, 합의에서 벗어나서, 다른 사람들이 우리에 대해 뭐라 말할까, 그들이 우리를 대적하여 뭘 할까 하는 우리의 염려와 걱정에서 벗어나 우리의 대속과 정결케 함과 거룩케 함을 주셨기에 우리가 갖게 된 복음을 나누라는 것입니다. 우리는 이 세상의 대중의 인기를 추구하는 사람들의 진영 바깥에, 자기들의 죄를 대속 받고 끔찍한 죄 많은 세상 한가운데서도 자기들의 삶이 정결케 함을 받은 사람들의 진영 안에 있습니다. 이번 토라 포션 중 레위기 10:1-3에서 우리는 아론의 두 아들의 비극적인 죽음도 볼 수 있습니다, “아론의 아들 나답과 아비후가 각기 향로를 가져다가 여호와께서 명령하시지 아니하신 다른 불을 담아 여호와 앞에 분향하였더니 불이 여호와 앞에서 나와 그들을 삼키매 그들이 여호와 앞에서 죽은지라 모세가 아론에게 이르되 이는 여호와의 말씀이라 이르시기를 나는 나를 가까이 하는 자 중에서 내 거룩함을 나타내겠고 온 백성 앞에서 내 영광을 나타내리라 하셨느니라 아론이 잠잠하니” – 레위기 10:1-3 이 사건은 성경에서 아주 비극적이고 이해하기 어려운 두 사건 중 하나입니다. 그 두 사건은 여기에 있는 나답과 아비후가 죽은 사건과 다윗이 기럇여아림에서 예루살렘으로 언약궤를 가져올 때 웃사가 죽은 사건입니다. 저는 이번 토라 포션에 가까이 있으면서 그저 이해해 보고자 합니다: 아론의 아들들이 그렇게 사납게 모든 사람들이 보는 데서 죽을만했던 그들의 심각한 죄, 범죄는 무엇이었을까요? 우리는 오늘날 광야의 주님의 성막과, 후에 성전에서의 주님의 공무가 얼마나 진지한 것이었는지 결코 이해하지 못할 것입니다. 첫째, 하나님께서는 애굽 종살이에서 벗어나 자유를 얻고 시내산 아래 서서 토라를 받은 이스라엘 자손에게 아주 현저히 드러나셨습니다. 모두가 나팔 소리와 산이 진통하는 것과 하나님께서 친히 산에서부터 십계명을 말씀하시는 음성을 듣고 있었습니다. 우리 현대 및 후기 현대 세계는 시간과 공간 감각을 잃었습니다. 우리는 성경과, 사진에 담긴 추억과, 사전과, 도서관과, 은행업무나 신분증 같은 문자 그대로 가장 중요한 “것들” 대부분을 포함하여 온 “세상”을 주머니 속에 가지고 다닙니다. 우리는 스마트폰과 아이패드, 노트북 컴퓨터로 인해 생긴 편리함과 함께, 거룩한 공간과 거룩한 시간이라는 개념을 잃어버렸습니다. 우리에게 나답과 아비후의 죽음은 불필요하고 잔인하고 너무 가혹하게 보이고, 아론의 아들들 이 두 사람의 생명을 앗아간 하나님은 거리감 있고 어렵고 무자비해 보입니다. 오늘날 우리의 생각은 이렇습니다: “여보시오, 불이 불이지, 불을 여기서 가져오든 저기서 가져오든 뭐가 대수란 말이오?” 그러나 낮에는 구름으로, 밤에는 불기둥으로 주님의 임재를 본 사람들에게는 그렇지가 않았습니다. 지도자들과 제사장들에게는 계명의 문자 그대로 명령을 따르는 것이 중요합니다. 랍비 주석에 의하면, 아론의 이 두 아들은 주님을 섬기러 가기 전에 포도주를 마셨습니다. 그들은 주님 앞에서의 봉사를 진지하게 생각하여 제단에 다른 불을 가져오는 이런 행동을 한 것이 아니었습니다. 아론의 아들들의 죽음의 결과를 다룬 본문 다음에 하나님께서는 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다: “여호와께서 아론에게 말씀하여 이르시되 너와 네 자손들이 회막에 들어갈 때에는 포도주나 독주를 마시지 말라 그리하여 너희 죽음을 면하라 이는 너희 대대로 지킬 영영한 규례라 그리하여야 너희가 거룩하고 속된 것을 분별하며 부정하고 정한 것을 분별하고 또 나 여호와가 모세를 통하여 모든 규례를 이스라엘 자손에게 가르치리라.” – 레위기 10:8-11 유대 전승에 따르면, 다른 불을 가져온 것은 외따로 떨어진 사건이 아니었습니다. 그것은 포도주나 독주를 마신 결과의 사건이었던 것입니다. 아론의 이 아들들은 서로에게 “매일 늘 똑같은 일이 닥칠 텐데, 가서 우리가 매일 하는 일을 반복하기 전에 조니 워커(스카치위스키 이름)와 좀 걷다 가면 어떨까.” 말했을 수도 있습니다. 글쎄, 이들이 조니 워커와 잠시 거닌 후에 하나님의 집에서의 업무를 하러 가서 좀 멋대로 한 것입니다. 조니와 거닐었던 것이 그들로 하여금 다른 곳에서 불을 가져올 정도로 혼탁한 판단을 내리게 만든 것입니다. 어쨌든 “불은 불이다.”라며. 우리는 모두 우리의 섬김과 헌신과 예배를 우리 시대에 우리가 하는 일보다 훨씬 더 진지하게 여겨야 합니다. 우리가 옷을 입는 방식, 노래하는 방식, 주님의 만찬을 받는 방식에는 우리 가운데 하나님의 임재 의식을 지녀야 합니다. 어쨌든 우리는 모두, 두 세 사람이 주님께 예배하고 주님에 대해 말하는 곳은 어디든, 주님께서 우리 가운데, 우리와 함께 계심을 압니다!

The Jerusalem Prayer List – March 28, 2022

The Torah and prophets reading this last Shabbat is called Shemini: Leviticus 9:1 - 11:47. It is also one of the special Shabbats and there is extra reading of what is called Parashat Parah – Numbers 19:1-22.
From the prophets we read a complimentary text, Parah, which is found in Ezekiel 36:16-36. I recommend the reading from the New Testament from Hebrews chapter 13, the whole chapter. The reason that I recommend this text from the letter to the Hebrews is because it is directly related to the reading from the Torah and from Ezekiel 36. Now I realize that most Christians and even the leaders are not familiar with this connection and relationship between the “Parah” and Hebrews 13. This is why I will start from the letter of Hebrews and return to the Torah portion and Ezekiel. In Hebrews 13:10-16, we find this text: “We have an altar from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat. For the bodies of those animals, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned outside the camp. Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate. Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach. For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come. Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” – Hebrews 13:10-16 Normally, in the Tabernacle in the wilderness, and in the Temple in Jerusalem, the priests and the Levites, those who serve in the Tabernacle, are those who have the exclusive right to eat the permitted pieces of meat that is sacrificed on the altar. So, what is the writer of the book of Hebrews is talking about? All the animals that were offered in the Tabernacle and in the Temple in Jerusalem were offered inside the holy precinct of the Temple and the Tabernacle. There was only one sacrifice that was offered and totally burned, and none of the priests and Levites could eat from it. It is the sacrifice of the Red Heifer, the “Parah Aduma.” Here is the text from Numbers chapter 19:1-6: “Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, ‘This is the ordinance of the law which the Lord has commanded, saying: “Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring you a red heifer without blemish, in which there is no defect and on which a yoke has never come. You shall give it to Eleazar the priest, that he may take it outside the camp, and it shall be slaughtered before him; and Eleazar the priest shall take some of its blood with his finger, and sprinkle some of its blood seven times directly in front of the tabernacle of meeting. Then the heifer shall be burned in his sight: its hide, its flesh, its blood, and its offal shall be burned. And the priest shall take cedar wood and hyssop and scarlet and cast them into the midst of the fire burning the heifer.”’” – Numbers 19:1-6 The Red Heifer was the only sacrifice that was ordered by God for the children of Israel to be offered outside of the camp. Outside of the Tabernacle and outside the Temple in Jerusalem. This sacrifice of the Red Heifer was a very important sacrifice. Yes, the priests and the Levites didn’t get to eat from this sacrifice, but without this sacrifice there could not exist a holy camp, or purification of people who were made ritually unclean, and therefore could not participate in the holy rights and worship in the Jerusalem Temple or the Tabernacle in the wilderness. The ashes of this sacrifice of the Red Heifer were used in order to clear doubt in the case of a husband that suspected that his wife was unfaithful to him (Numbers chapter 5, about the woman suspected of infidelity). The sacrifice of the Red Heifer was unique in many ways, and it was the only way to be purified from leprosy, and other illnesses that are infectious. I remind you, dear brothers and sisters, that this was the only sacrifice that was offered on an altar outside the camp. In fact, now we know where that sacrifice of the Red Heifer took place. It took place in the desert by the Dead Sea in a place called Qumran, where the Essene community setup camp far from Jerusalem. Just recently a big find was discovered in one of the caves near Qumran. The thing that archaeologists found recently was a small piece from the book of Esther. This indicates that the people who lived in Qumran in the first century B.C.E. and C.E. (B.C. and A.D.) had the book of Esther and considered it a part of the canon of the Bible. The book of Esther was among the last books that were accepted and considered inspired by the Holy Spirit, and holy. The person that actually made the discovery near Qumran of the place where the Red Heifer was burned was an ex-Baptist missionary by the name of Vindal Jones. He was an amateur archaeologist who went about looking for the lost Ark of the Covenant and for Noah’s ark, and for other lost artifacts mentioned in the Bible. All the Indiana Jones characters were patterned by the persona of Vindal Jones. Vindal was a big help to us in Netivyah, in the beginning and formation of our ministry. After being persecuted for many months by ultra-orthodox Jewish radicals, Brother Jones offered us the use of the Baptist House on Narkis Street for $100 per month. That included the cleaning, and the cookies and coffee and tea, and office space for me in the same room with Dr. Robert L. Lindsey, behind the Baptist church that was later burned by the same radicals. Back to our text: “Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate. Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach. For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come. Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” – Hebrews 13:12-16 This text is often neglected by most evangelical pastors, mainly because it doesn’t connect to the paradigm that motivates most Evangelical churches. And it is hard to understand. The writer of the book of Hebrews is calling on the brothers and sisters to recognize that Yeshua’s death and resurrection happened “outside the camp”. Yeshua, for the writer of Hebrews, was the embodiment of the sacrifice of the Red Heifer outside the camp. “Outside the camp “has several meanings in this text of Hebrews. It has today’s meaning of “outside the box”. It has also the meaning of “outside the consensus of the Jewish leadership of that time”. It has also the geographical meaning of “outside the camp,” meaning outside of Jerusalem and the Temple cultus. The writer calls the disciples to realize that Jerusalem is about to fall (which it did, not long after the letter to the Hebrews was written). It has the declaration that the Jerusalem that the early disciples were seeking was the eternal Jerusalem, the same one that in chapter 11 of Hebrews Abraham was waiting for. Then comes the “Therefore” in verse 15. We must offer the sacrifices of praise and the fruit of our lips with thanksgiving (based on Hosea chapter 14, that anticipated the same events.). For the writer of Hebrews, Yeshua was the Red Heifer. Outside the camp is the only place that, after Yeshua’s death and after the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem, we, His disciples, can still find atonement from sin and purification of our souls. The exhortation in verse 16 is of great importance for us today also. The writer reminds us two things that also today we need to keep in mind: “But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” – Hebrews 13:16 To do good means to do good deeds and to share means to share both our physical and spiritual goods, and especially the good news that we have because of Yeshua’s willingness to go outside the camp for us and provide our atonement and purification and sanctification outside the camp, outside the consensus, outside our worry and care of what others might say about us and what they might do against us. We are outside the camp of this world’s popularists, and inside the holy camp of those who have their sins atoned for, and their lives purified even in the middle of a horrible sinful world. In this same Torah portion we also find the tragic death of Aaron’s two sons in Leviticus 10:1-3, “Then Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered profane fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them. So fire went out from the Lord and devoured them, and they died before the Lord. And Moses said to Aaron, ‘This is what the Lord spoke, saying: “By those who come near Me I must be regarded as holy; And before all the people I must be glorified.”’ So Aaron held his peace.” – Leviticus 10:1-3 This event is one of two very tragic and very hard to understand events in the whole Bible. It is the death of Nadab and Abihu here and the death of Uza when David was bringing the Ark of the Covenant from Kiryat Yearim to Jerusalem. I am going to stay close to our Torah Portion and just try to understand: what was the serious sin and crime of the sons of Aaron that they deserved to die in such a violent and public death? We can never understand today how serious the public service of the Lord in the Tabernacle of the Lord in the wilderness was, and later in the Temple. First, God was very eminent for the children of Israel that left Egyptian slavery, and received their freedom and stood under Mount Sinai, and received the Torah. All hearing the sound of the trumpet and the shaking of the mountain and the voice of God Himself speaking out the Ten Commandments from the mountain. In our modern and post-modern world, we have lost the sense and the sensitivity for time and space. We carry in our pockets our whole “world”, including our bibles and our memories in our photos, and dictionaries, and libraries and literally most of the most important “things”, like banking and identifications. Together with the great convenience of having smartphones and iPads, and laptop computers, we have lost the concept of holy space and holy time. To us, the death of Nadab and Abihu seems unnecessary, cruel, and way too harsh. The God who took the lives of these two men, the sons of Aaron, seems distant and difficult, and heartless. Our idea today could be: “Hey man, fire is fire, what's the big deal if it's fire from here or from there?” But not so for people who saw by day the presence of the Lord above the Tabernacle in the cloud, and by night the pilar of fire. It was important for the leaders and the priests to follow instruction to the letter of the command. These boys of Aaron, according to rabbinical commentaries, drank wine before they went to serve the Lord. They didn’t do this act of bringing strange fire to the altar by thinking seriously about their service before the Lord. After the texts that deal with the consequences of the death of Aaron’s sons, this is what the word of God says: “Then the Lord spoke to Aaron, saying: ‘Do not drink wine or intoxicating drink, you, nor your sons with you, when you go into the tabernacle of meeting, lest you die. It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations, that you may distinguish between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean, and that you may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the Lord has spoken to them by the hand of Moses.’” – Leviticus 10:8-11 The bringing of the strange fire was not a standalone event, according to Jewish tradition. It was an event that was a result of drinking wine or intoxicating drink. These boys of Aaron could have said to each other, “This same-old same-old practice every day is getting to me, why don’t we take a little walk with Johnny Walker before we go and repeat the same-old same-old things that we do every day.” Well, after they strolled with Johnny Walker for a while, they went to do their duty in the house of God and took some liberties. The walk with Johnny made their judgment fuzzy enough to take fire from a different source. After all, “fire is fire is fire”. We must all take our service and dedication and our worship much more serious than we do in our day and time. The way we dress, the way we sing, the way we take the Lord’s Supper has to carry with it the sense of God’s presence in our midst. After all, we all know that wherever there are two or three of us worshiping and speaking and talking of the Lord, He is in our midst, with us!

Please continue to pray for Ukraine and for Europe and Russia and the USA. The danger for a world war is not over. On the contrary, the possibilities of a major world war are only increasing and the danger is so significant that in the next world war it might be Armageddon.
No one knows when the end of the world will come and when Yeshua will descend on Mount of Olives in Jerusalem to start the true and real and positive New World Order as it is described in the prophets of Israel, from Moses to Malachi, and in the last chapters of the book of Revelation.
Please pray for our dear brother Keijo and Sister Salme in Finland. Marcia and I need your prayers and Keijo and Salme need your prayers. We are getting older and our bodies are not what they used to be and we need healing and strength from the Lord to continue and do the Lord’s work.

A very dear sister who is a Korean living in Mexico and doing international ministry, Sarah Lee, is feeling better after a massive stroke and she is out of danger, but has to go through physical therapy and relearn to walk and conduct herself. Please keep our dear sister Sarah Lee in prayer.
We received a prayer request from a dear sister, Livia Schnell Nothen, who has been with us in Portugal and has stood with our brothers in Brazil and with us on the issue of the Anussim.
Please keep brother Philip Marc in your prayers. Philip is a young man with very serious cancer. He is a truth seeker and a faithful disciple of Yeshua who loves God and who is a lover of Israel. Philip lives far from Israel in a country that we can’t travel to, but Philip's heart is with us, and with God’s people.
Pray for Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias. He is the father of a dear sister in Brazil.
The situation in Israel is getting better and many of the restrictions have been lifted. Tourists are coming, and that is a big blessing to all of Israel, and especially to many of our brothers and sisters who work as tour guides.
1. Please keep doing intercessory prayer for the whole world, concentrate on your country, but do not forget Israel.
2. There is a blessing from God to those who pray for other brothers and sisters and intercede through the Holy Spirit for the body of the Messiah.
3. It might seem like a small thing for us to pray a few minutes for brothers and sisters around the world, but in the kingdom and in the Heavens, attention is paid by the authorities of goodness to the caring and sincere intercessory prayer that conforms and confirms that the body of the Messiah Yeshua is truly one body.
4. Pray for those who have prayed so faithfully for the salvation of Israel and the peace in Israel. If you are not praying for the salvation of Israel, please start now. This prayer is sure to be answered by the Lord because He promised that, “all of Israel shall be saved!”
Please pray for Gary, our daughter-in-law Beth Shulam’s father. Pray for Danah our daughter, she needs much prayer for her situation and so does our granddaughter Noaam. Please lift Danah and Noaam in your prayers. Please lift Barry our son and his family, Beth, and Joey our grandson.

By praying for people who are your brothers and sisters, and whom you do not know personally, you are exercising the right to be God’s ambassador in what is called “agape love.” “Agape love” is the highest form of love, a love that does not look for earthly rewards or give and take, but just does the service of intercession in the kingdom of God.
You will be blessed by the almighty God who gives each of His children good for the good we do and recompense for the bad we do.
Your sincere prayers for people around the world do the following things for the Kingdom, the King, and for the body of the Messiah:
1. They unite you and the body in a major transcendent bond of prayer.
2. They demonstrate the oneness of the people of God.
3. Your prayer shows that there are people outside the realm of the physical world and personal interests who have a sincere bond and relationship that is heavenly and not earthly.
4. The Lord knows His children and gives credit and reward according to His promises.
We have brothers and sisters in Israel and in China, and I ask you to pray for their safety and protection: Deborah Ruth, Lydia, Sima, Laurel S., Naomi, David S., Daniel, Dalia D. and her sister Tikvah, and Ayla who has just given birth to a daughter. Pray for Elhanan and his family.
In Korea we need to pray for Dr. Song and his wife Dr. Kim, and for KIBI, the most important organization that started the great interest and support for Israel and for the Jewish Disciples of Yeshua in Israel.
In Africa, please pray Ismael Alves, Asher Gabriel, M. Ahuva, and especially for Yeshua College in Zimbabwe. Netivyah is providing most of the teaching in this new college that is especially serving the leadership of the Lamba tribe in Africa.
Netivyah has been feeding the poor of Jerusalem for more than 25 years and we have a highly appreciated humanitarian ministry that is working with the Jerusalem municipality. As the demands for food for people who never before needed such help grows, I pray that the Lord will inspire and motivate brothers and sisters and ministries who can help with this to visit here and do what they can to make it possible for us to double or more than double, the number of people and families that we serve.
Our prime minister’s case is still before the courts. I am not happy that this is happening in Israel, but I am praying that true justice and righteousness is exhibited in our court system.
The truth must come out and I am not interested in a second prime minister of Israel going to jail. We have had a president in jail, a finance minister in jail, a minister of interior affairs in jail, and a member of the parliament in jail.
Pray for some dear friends, Rabbi Salt, and his family and Rabbi Hasselblad. They are both older and need protection and blessings.
We are praying for Tali and asking you all to pray for Tali. We need to ask God to heal and bless this dear sister that is suffering both physically and materially. Tali has three teenage daughters with health problems and Tali herself has some serious health problems.
I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children.
Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish! The best is yet to come!
