예루살렘 기도 목록 – 2020년 12월 31일

이번이 2020년 마지막 안식일입니다! 저는 우리 대부분이 2020년을 잊고 싶지 않을까 생각합니다. 여러 모로 금년을 잊고 싶고 2021년에 훨씬 더 나은 해가 되기를 바라는 게 당연합니다. 그러나 우리가 2020년을 잊는다면, 우리는 전체적인 관점을 놓치게 될 것입니다.

우리는 이 하나님의 세상에 그 어느 것도 부질없는 것이 없음을 기억해야 합니다. 모든 것, 모든 계절에는 주님께서 지휘하시고 의도하시는 리듬과 이유가 있습니다. 주님께서 이 세상을 다스리십니다. 이 세상은 그분의 세상이며, 이 세상은 주님께 경배합니다!

저는 이 세상이 그 창조주, 즉 하늘과 땅을 지으신 주님과 맺고 있는 관계에 대한 성경적 관점이 무엇인지 보여주기 위해 그다지 유명하지 않은 몇 구절을 택했습니다. 주님께서는 은퇴하셨거나 휴가 가시지 않았음을 기억하십시오! 그분께서는 여전히 이 세상과 그 안에 있는 모든 것의 주시며 주인이십니다!

“땅을 돌보사 물을 대어 심히 윤택하게 하시며 하나님의 강에 물이 가득하게 하시고 이같이 땅을 예비하신 후에 그들에게 곡식을 주시나이다.” – 시편 65:9

“온 땅이여 하나님께 즐거운 소리를 낼지어다!” – 시편 66:1

“온 땅이 주께 경배하고 주를 노래하며 주의 이름을 노래하리이다 할지어다 (셀라)!” – 시편 66:4

“땅의 왕국들아 하나님께 노래하고 주께 찬송할지어다 (셀라)!” – 시편 68:32

요점을 명확하게 만들어주는 한 구절이 더 있습니다:

“여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 하늘은 나의 보좌요 땅은 나의 발판이니 …” – 이사야 66:1

그 무엇이 이 하나님의 말씀들보다 더 분명할 수 있을까요?

저는 “코로나”(“왕관”)라고 불리는 이 재앙/전염병이 자연스러운 현상이 아니며 아무 이유가 없는 것도 아니라고 생각합니다. 성경에는 재앙/전염병에 해당하는 여러 단어가 대략 100번 정도 나오는데요, 하나님께서 친히 그분의 지구에 일으키시고 촉진시키신 것을 묘사하는데 사용되었습니다. 그 이유는 언제나 같습니다! 인류에게 이런 재앙/전염병이 있어야 했습니다.

애굽의 바로와 애굽 자체가 하나님께서 그 땅과 애굽 사람들에 대해 촉발하신 열 재앙이 있어야 했습니다. 광야에 있던 이스라엘은 그들의 40년 시내 광야 생활 동안 1번 이상 재앙이 있었어야 했습니다. 다윗왕도 이스라엘 땅과 백성을 다스린 40년 재위 말기에 일어났던 끔찍한 전염병이 있었어야 했습니다. (삼하 24장, 대상 21장 참조)

여러분은 아마 “다윗왕은 왜 그의 인생과 재위 말기에 이런 끔찍한 전염병이 있었어야 했는가?”라는 중요한 질문을 하실 것입니다. 그것을 생각해 보시고 주님과 이스라엘에 대한 그의 삶과 관계를 살펴보십시오. 그러면 여러분은 주님께서 그분의 종들을 온전하게 하시기 위해서 어떻게 역사하시며, 어떻게 시험하시고 인정하시는지 이해하실 것입니다.

그 전염병으로 이스라엘에서 7만 명이 다윗왕의 죄 때문에 죽었습니다! “코로나”라고 하는 이 전염병에 대해 회피하려고도 잊으려고도 하지 마십시오. 세상은, 인류는 스스로 하나님과 그분의 통치로부터 자유로워지는 자유라는 왕관을 쓰고 구약에서도 신약에서도 “가증”이라고 부르는 심대한 죄 가운데로 달아났습니다! 인류는 스스로 왕관을 쓰고 이 땅과 그 안에 있는 모든 것 위에 군림했습니다!

우리 모두는, 각자 자문해보도록 합시다: “나는 내 삶에 무엇을 바꿔야 하는가?” “나는 이 우주의 창조주와 진짜 어떤 관계를 맺고 있는가?” 여러분 중 어떤 분들은 이런 질문을 자문하고 여러분이 사실 하나님을 믿지 않았다고 혹은 그분을 진지하게 받아들이지 않았다고 판단하실 것입니다. 어떤 분들은 과거에는 하나님과 정말 강한 관계를 맺고 있었지만 그것을 잃어버렸다고 판단하실 것입니다. 어떤 분은 이 세상은 너무 사랑하지만 이 세상을 창조하신 주님은 거의 사랑하지 않았다고 판단하실 것입니다.

하나님께서는 이 세상과 지금 현대의 명품 옷을 입고 있는 고대 우상들을 흔들어버리기 위해 이 코로나바이러스를 보내셨습니다. 2020년을 잊지 마시고, 여러분 자신과 여러분의 태도를 살펴보시고 여러분이 창조주와 우리 구주 예슈아와 맺고 있는 관계는 어떠하며 그것을 회복하는 일에 어떻게 참여할지 판단해 보시기 바랍니다!

이제 이번 안식일 토라 포션은 창세기 마지막 부분입니다. 이 토라 포션은 히브리어로 “바예히” (“그리고 그는 살았다”)입니다. 읽는 부분은 창세기 47:28~50:26, 선지서의 글에서는 열왕기상 2:1-2:12입니다. 신약성경에서 읽는 부분은 히브리서 11:12-22와, 베드로전서 1:3-9입니다.

“바예히” (“그리고 그는 살았다”)라고 부르는 이 토라 포션은 야곱이 살았다는 뜻입니다. 그런데 야곱이 죽는 것으 창세기의 마지막 부분, 이 토라 포션에서 입니다. 이 부분에 몇 가지 아주 중요한 이슈가 있습니다.

야곱은 요셉의 두 아들, 에브라임과 므낫세를 포함하여 그의 아들들에게 축복합니다. 이스라엘 땅을 분배하여 상속할 때 요셉은 갑절의 몫을 상속합니다. 요셉의 형제들은, 레위를 제외하고, 각각 한 부분씩 상속하고, 요셉은 그의 아들들을 통해 가나안 땅의 가장 큰 부분 중 두 부분을 상속합니다!

야곱은 그의 아들들에게 아브라함과 이삭이, 수백 명의 영혼을 얻어 그들과 그들의 가족을 한 분 하나님을 알고 경배하도록 변화시킨, 사람을 낚는 어부, 위대한 전도자들이었다는 것을 밝힙니다. 그 하나님께서는 하란에 있는 아브라함에게 그분을 계시하시고 아브라함을 불러 풍요롭고 비옥한 초승달 지역을 떠나 비옥한 땅은 별로 없고 대부분이 광야인 가나안 땅으로 가라고 하셨던 바로 그분이십니다.

다음은 그 구절입니다:

“나를 모든 환난에서 건지신 여호와의 사자께서 이 아이들에게 복을 주시오며 이들로 내 이름과 내 조상 아브라함과 이삭의 이름으로 칭하게 하시오며 이들이 세상에서 번식되게 하시기를 원하나이다.” – 창세기 48:16

“번식”이라는 단어는 히브리어 본문에 “이드구”입니다. “번식”이라고 번역된 이 단어의 어근은 “다그” (“물고기”)입니다. 창세기에 이 단어의 문법적 형태는 “그리고 그들은 (그 땅의 사람들 중에서) 낚았다”입니다.

다음은 예슈아께서 그분의 제자들에게 말씀하신 구절입니다:

“말씀하시되 나를 따라오라 내가 너희를 사람을 낚는 어부가 되게 하리라 하시니” – 마태복음 4:19

여러분은 아브라함과 이삭이 언제 어떻게 “낚아” 복음 전도했느냐고 질문하실지 모르겠습니다. 그 실마리 구절은 이것입니다:

“아브람이 그의 아내 사래와 조카 롯과 하란에서 모은 모든 소유와 얻은 사람들(영혼들)을 이끌고 가나안 땅으로 가려고 떠나서 마침내 가나안 땅에 들어갔더라.” – 창세기 12:5

“영혼들을 얻는” 것이 복음 전도입니다. 이것은 고대 히브리어에 그러하며, 현대 히브리어에서도 그렇습니다. 아브라함에게는 20세에서 50세 사이의 전쟁에 능한 318명의 장정이 있었는데요, 그들은 창세기 14장에서 그를 도와 북쪽 다섯 왕을 추적하여 그 왕들이 끌고 간 롯과 그의 가족과 약탈물을 찾아왔습니다.

이 군사작전에서 돌아오는 길에 아브라함은 살렘(예루살렘)에서 멈추어 멜기세덱을 만났습니다. 아브라함은 그의 아내 사라와 조가 롯과 그의 가족하고만 있었던 것은 아닙니다.

그에게는 많은 사람으로 이루어진 큰 진영이 있었는데요, 그 318명에게는 아내와 자녀가 있었습니다. 이 사람들은, 그들 역시 오직 한 분 하나님이 계시며 그분께서 하늘과 땅을 지으신 분이심을 알기 때문에, 아브라함을 따라온 것입니다. 바로 그 하나님께서 세상을 사랑하사 그분의 아들을 희생하시어 우리가 모두 그분을 알고 이 세상의 우상들을 뒤로 하고 그분을 따르며 그분의 뜻을 행하게 하신 분이십니다.

여러분이 복음 전도자, 영혼을 얻는 사람이면, 여러분은 여러분을 따르는 사람들도 여러분이 따르는 바로 그 주님을 계속 따르기를 원해야 합니다. 바울이 그의 제자들에게 말한 것처럼 말입니다:

“바울이 이르되 말이 적으나 많으나 당신뿐만 아니라 오늘 내 말을 듣는 모든 사람도 다 이렇게 결박된 것 외에는 나와 같이 되기를 하나님께 원하나이다 하니라.” – 사도행전 26:29

“디모데가 이르거든 너희는 조심하여 그로 두려움이 없이 너희 가운데 있게 하라 이는 그도 나와 같이 주의 일을 힘쓰는 자임이라.” – 고린도전서 16:10

“형제들아 내가 너희와 같이 되었은즉 너희도 나와 같이 되기를 구하노라 너희가 내게 해롭게 하지 아니하였느니라.” – 갈라디아서 4:12

여러분에게 이것이 이상해 보일지 모르지만, 사람들에게 복음을 전하는 목적은 그들이 여러분을 따라 하나님 나라에 들어가도록 여러분을 그들의 모범과 모델이 되게 하는 것입니다. 이것이 세상의 소위 “제자훈련” 프로그램들이 장기적으로 사실 별로 성공적이지 않은 한 가지 이유입니다.

지금과 영원히 자기의 삶을 주는 사람은 여러분을 신뢰해야 합니다. 뭔가 추상적인 것이 아닌 여러분을 말입니다. 그는 여러분을 따르며 여러분이 하는 대로 해야 합니다. 그 사람이 여러분이 따라가는 것을 볼 때 그도 따라갈 것입니다. 모든 자녀는 부모님을 따라가며, 종종 자기 아버지인 여러분에게서 배운 여러분의 좋은 버릇, 나쁜 버릇, 추한 버릇을 보여주기도 하는데요, 여러분은 그가 여러분을 따라하는 것 때문에 기분이 상해 화가 날 수도 있습니다.

이제 그만 나쁜 본이 되는 것을 그치십시오! 여러분의 아들과 자신을 붙잡고 함께 바꾸십시오. 결코 늦지 않았습니다. 저는 그 반대의 경우도 봤는데요, 아들들이 아버지들을 맡아 함께 바꿔나갔습니다. 저는 자기 아버지들을 이어받은 아들들이 그들을 주님께 인도한 경우를 압니다! 형제자매님들, 돌이켜 사람을 낚는 어부가 되십시오!

진짜 어부들에게서 폭풍 이는 바다나 강에서 고기를 낚기 위해 무엇이 필요한지 배우십시오.

이 토라 포션에 대한 마지막 사항입니다! 야곱은, 그리고 나중에 요셉도, 자기 유해를 가져가 아브라함이 묻힌 가나안땅, 하나님께서 아브라함과 그의 씨에게 영구한 소유로 주신 그 땅에 묻으라고 요청했습니다! 중요한 이 진리를 잊지 마십시오! 영구하다는 것은 영원하다는 뜻입니다.

마르시아와 저는 지금 집에 있습니다! 저희는 지난 금요일에 집으로 돌아왔습니다. 저희는 수많은 젊은이들과 함께 호텔에 격리되지 않아도 되었습니다. 저희 나이와 질병 때문에, 저희는 2주 동안 자가격리가 허락되었습니다. 이것은 아주 큰 축복이었습니다. 요즈음 마르시아의 건강이 별로 좋지 않습니다. 마르시아는 시차 적응에 어려움을 겪으며 아주 심히 피곤해 하고 있고 거동하는 것을 힘들어합니다. 저는 여러분께 마르시아를 위해 기도해 주시고 여러분의 기도에 계속 기억해 주시기를 부탁드립니다. 저희는 우리의 치료자이신 주님을 믿으며 우리 모두를 위한 그분의 돌보심과 사랑을 의뢰합니다!

쯔비 형제님의 아내 밧셰바 데바렘디커 자매님은 오늘 다시 입원하여 한 달 새 두 번째 유방암 수술을 받습니다. 저는 여러분 모두께 밧셰바와 쯔비를 위한 특별기도를 부탁드립니다. 저는 이번에 의사들이 제거되어야 하는 모든 암 조직을 제거하는 데 성공하도록, 그리고 빨리 회복하여 집으로 돌아오도록 기도합니다.

주님을 섬김에 진짜 영웅들인 저희 회중의 연로하신 레아, 아후바, 일라나 자매님들은 우리의 기도가 필요합니다. 저는 여러분도 저희 회중의 연로하신 자매님들을 위해 기도해 주시기를 부탁드립니다. 이분들은 진짜 믿음의 영웅들이며, 주님과 그분의 백성을 향한 이분들의 사랑은 무한합니다.

하나님의 말씀에는 과부와 고아를 돌보라는 분명한 명령이 있습니다. 이 명령은 토라에서도, 선지서에도, 시가서에도, 신약성경에도 여러 번 반복되었습니다. 누구든, 본인이 나이가 들어가든 연로한 가족이 있든, 성도들과 우리의 영적 가족 공동체에, 이 명령을 지켜 우리의 연로한 분들을 돌보는 일이 맡겨졌다는 것을 알아야 합니다. 그분들은 그분들이 젊었을 때 그분들의 모든 것을 내어주었습니다. 이제 그들의 필요한 것을 공급하는 것은 성도들의 책임입니다.

교회적으로, 혹은 개인적으로 예루살렘의 연로한 성도들을 위해 조금 더 헌금하는 것을 고려해 보시기 바랍니다.

이스라엘 상황은 아직 나아지지 않았습니다! 이스라엘은 제한적 이동이 허용된 채 아직 폐쇄 중이며 대부분의 경제활동과 사업체들은 휴업 중인데요, 적어도 당분간 그럴 것입니다. 경제가 피폐해졌습니다.

저는 지난 주 예루살렘 기도 목록에 여러분이 개인적으로 모르는 사람들을 위해 기도하는 것과, 세계가 회복되고 코로나바이러스라고 불리는 이 끔직한 팬데믹이 끝나도록 기도하는 것은 좋은 일이라고 썼습니다. 코로나는 왕관입니다. 저는 이 바이러스가 어느 왕의 머리의 왕관이 될지 모르겠습니다.

1. 전 세계를 위한 중보 기도를 계속해 주시고, 여러분 각자의 나라를 위한 기도에 집중해 주시되, 이스라엘도 잊지 마시기 바랍니다.

2. 다른 형제자매님들을 위해 기도하며 성령을 통해 메시아의 몸을 위해 중보하는 사람들에게는 하나님으로부터의 복이 있습니다.

3. 우리가 전 세계 형제자매님들을 위해 몇 분 동안 기도하는 것은 작은 일 같이 보일지 모르지만, 하나님 나라와 하늘에서는, 메시야 예슈아의 몸이 진짜 한 몸임을 확증하고 그에 맞춘 관심과 진심 어린 중보와 기도에 선한 권위자들의 주의가 기울여집니다.

a. 이전에, 그리고 현재 한국이스라엘성경연구소(키비) 사역에 참여했고 현재 참여하고 있는 모든 이들을 위해 기도해 주십시오.

b. 이전 키비 운영위원들과 회개하고 관계를 회복해야 하는 사람들을 위해, 그들이 하늘로부터 그렇게 할 능력을 받도록 기도해 주십시오.

우리 영적 지도자들이 우리를 회개로, 죄와 허물을 고백하는 데로 이끌고 지적하여, 주님께서 이 코로나바이러스를 이 땅에서 거두시고 우리가 주님을 기억하며 그분의 의와 진리의 길로 걸어가게 하도록 우리 모두 기도하며 격려합시다.

저희 딸 다나는 지금 처한 상황 때문에 여러분의 기도가 많이 필요하고, 저희 손녀 노아암도 그렇습니다. 여러분의 기도 가운데 다나와 노아암을 올려드려 주십시오. 역시 이 시기에 집에 있으면서 재택근무하고 있는 저희 아들 배리와 그의 가족 베쓰와 저희 손자 죠이도 올려드려 주십시오. 마르시아의 친정어머니 준은 91세시며 건강이 나빠지고 있습니다. 예루살렘의 우리 하닷사 자매님은 암 수술을 받고 지금은 집에서 회복 중입니다. 여러분의 기도에 그녀를 기억해 주시기 바랍니다.

The Jerusalem Prayer List – December 31, 2020

This is the last Shabbat of 2020! I suspect that most of us want to forget 2020. From so many aspects it is natural to want to forget this year and pray and hope for a much better year in 2021. However, if we forget the year 2020, we would be missing the whole point.

We must remember that nothing in this world, God’s world, is in vain. Everything and every season has a rhyme and a reason directed and purposed by the Lord. The Lord rules this world. It is His world, and the world worships the Lord!

I have chosen just a few texts that are not so famous to show what is the biblical perspective on the relationship of this world with the Creator, the Lord who created the Heavens and the Earth. Remember the Lord has not retired or gone on vacation! He is still the lord and master of this world and all that is in it:

“You visit the earth and water it, You greatly enrich it; The river of God is full of water; You provide their grain, For so You have prepared it.” – Psalm 65:9 [NKJV]

“Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth!” – Psalm 66:1 [NKJV]

“All the earth shall worship You and sing praises to You; They shall sing praises to Your name. Selah!” – Psalm 66:4 [NKJV]

“Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth; Oh, sing praises to the Lord, Selah!” – Psalm 68:32 [NKJV]

One more verse that makes the point clear:

“Thus says the Lord: ‘Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool.’” – Isaiah 66:1 [NKJV]

Can anything be clearer than these words of God?

I suggest that this plague that is called “corona” (“crown” in English), is not a natural phenomenon and not for nothing. There are about 100 times that the different words for plagues in the Bible are used to describe something that God Himself has created and activated on His Earth. The reasons are always the same! Mankind needed these plagues.

Pharaoh in Egypt and Egypt itself, needed the ten plagues that God set in motion against the land and people of Egypt. Israel in the wilderness more than once during their forty years in the wilderness of Sinai, needed a plague. King David needed the horrible plague that occurred at the very end of his forty years of kingship over the land and the people of Israel. (See 2 Samuel 24 and 1 Chronicles 21.)

You will probably ask the important question, “Why did King David need this terrible plague at the very end of his life and kingship?” Think about it and examine his life and relationship to the Lord and Israel and you might understand how the Lord works, and how He tests and approves His servants to perfect them.

In that plague 70,000 people died in Israel because of King David’s sin! Don’t try to escape and forget about this plague called “corona” – the world, mankind, has crowned itself, freedom from God and from His rules, escape into the deep sin that is called an “abomination” in both the Old and the New Testament! Humanity has crowned itself as king over the Earth and all that is in it!

Let us all, each of us, every one of us, ask ourselves: “What do I need to change in my own life?” “What is my real relationship with the Creator of this universe?” Some of you will ask yourselves these questions and decide that you have never really believed in God or taken Him seriously. Some will decide that you had a real strong relationship with God in the past, but you have lost it. Some of you will decide that you have had too much love for this world and too little for the Lord who created it.

God has sent this coronavirus to shake up the world, and all the ancient idols who are now dressed in modern designer clothes. Don’t forget 2020 – examine yourself, your attitudes, and also decide what and how you are going to be a part of restoring your relationship with the Creator and with Yeshua our savior!

Now this Shabbat’s reading is the last chapters of the book of Genesis. The Torah portion is called in Hebrew Vayechi (“and He lived”). The reading is from Genesis 47:28 – 50:26, from the Prophets the reading is from 1 Kings 2:1-2:12. From the New Testament the reading is from Hebrews 11:12-22, 1 Peter 1:3-9.

The portion of the Torah that is called Vayechi (“and he lived”) means that Jacob lived. However, it is in this portion of the Torah, the last portion of Genesis, that Jacob dies. There are some very important issues in this reading.

Jacob blesses his sons, including Joseph’s two sons, Ephraim and Menashe. Joseph inherits a double portion of the land of Israel. Each of the brothers of Joseph except Levi – inherit one portion, Joseph, through his sons, inherits two of the largest parts of the land of Canaan!

Jacob reveals to his sons that Abraham and Isaac, where fishers of men, great evangelists who won hundreds of souls and converted them and their families to know and worship the one God who revealed Himself to Abraham in Haran and called him to leave the rich and fertile crescent and come to Canaan a land of little fertility and much desert.

Here is the verse:

“‘The Angel who has redeemed me from all evil, Bless the lads; Let my name be named upon them, And the name of my father’s Abraham and Isaac; And let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.’” – Genesis 48:16 [NKJV]

The “multitude” is in the Hebrew text “yidgu”. The root of this word that is translated in English as “multitude” is “dag” (“fish”). The grammatical form of the word in Genesis is “and they fished” among the people of the land.

It is from this text that Yeshua said to His disciples:

“Then He said to them, ‘Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.’” – Matthew 4:19 [NKJV]

You might ask, when and how did Abraham and Isaac, “fish” and evangelized. The key text is:

“Then Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother’s son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the (souls) people whom they had acquired in Haran, and they departed to go to the land of Canaan. So, they came to the land of Canaan.” – Genesis 12:5 [NKJV]

To “acquire souls” is to evangelize. This is true in ancient Hebrew and it is also true in modern Hebrew. Abraham had 318 men between the age of 20 and 50 who were mighty men of war and helped him in Genesis 14 to chase after the five kings of the north and to retrieve Lot and his family and the loot that those kings had taken.

On his way back from this military campaign Abraham stopped at Salem, (Jerusalem) and met with Melchizedek. Abraham was not alone with only his wife Sarah, and his nephew Lot, and his family.

He had a large camp with many people and those 318 men had families and children. These people followed Abraham because they too understood that there is but one God, who created the Heavens and the Earth. The same God who loves the world and who sacrificed His Son so that we can all know Him and leave the idols of this world behind, and follow Him, and do His will.

When you are an evangelist, a soul winner, you must want those who follow you to keep following the same Lord that you follow. As Paul said to his disciples:

“And Paul said, ‘I would to God that not only you, but also all who hear me today, might become both almost and altogether such as I am, except for these chains.’” – Acts 26:29 [NKJV]

“‘And if Timothy comes, see that he may be with you without fear; for he does the work of the Lord, as I also do.’” – 1 Corinthians. 16:10 [NKJV]

“‘Brethren, I urge you to become like me, for I became like you. You have not injured me at all.’” – Galatians 4:12 [NKJV]

This might seem strange to you, but the object of sharing the Gospel with people is that they follow you into the kingdom of God and make you their example and model. This is one reason that so many of the so-called “discipleship” programs in the world are not really successful long term.

A person who is giving his life now as well as his eternal life, has to trust you, you and not something abstract. He has to follow you and do as you do. When the person sees you following – He will follow. Every child follows his father and mother and often your child will display the same good and bad and ugly traits that he learned from you, his father, and you might be upset and angry that he is following you.

Stop being a bad example! Take hold of your son and yourself and change together. It is never too late. Or, I have seen the opposite occur, sons who have taken charge of their fathers and they have changed together. I know sons who took over from their fathers and led them to the Lord! Return dear brothers and sisters and become fishers of men!

Learn from the true fishermen what it takes to fish in a stormy sea or river.

One last note on this Torah reading! Jacob, and later also Joseph, asked that their body be taken and buried in the same place as Abraham in the land of Canaan, the Land that God gave to Abraham and to his seed as an everlasting possession! Don’t forget this important truth! Everlasting means eternal.

Marcia and I are home now! We returned home last Friday. We were spared having to quarantine in a hotel with hordes of young people. Because of our age and medical condition, we were allowed to do the two weeks of quarantine in our own home. This was a wonderful blessing. Marcia’s health is not doing too well these days. She has a hard time overcoming jetlag and she is super tired and has difficulty functioning. I am asking you to pray for Marcia and to keep her in your prayers. We believe in the Lord our healer and we stand and trust His care and love for us all!

Bathsheba Derbaremdicker, Zvi’s wife, is back in the hospital today and is having the second surgery in one month for breast cancer. I am asking you all for special prayer for Bathsheba and for Zvi. I pray that this time the doctors will be able to successfully remove all that needs to be removed, everything bit of the cancer and for a speedy recovery and return home.

The situation of our older sisters who are true heroes in the service of the Lord, Leah, Ahuva, and Ilana need our prayers. I am asking you too to pray for our older sisters. They are true heroes of faith and their love for the Lord and for His people, is without limits.

There is a clear command in the world of God to take care of the widows and orphans. This command is repeated in the Torah, the prophets, the writings, and in the New Testament, even several times. Anyone who is getting old or has older family members must know that the fellowship of the saints and of our spiritual family can be trusted to keep this commandment and to take care of our older generation of people who have given all of their younger years and now it is the responsibility of the saints to take care of their elderly.

Please consider as a church or as individuals to add something extra for the elderly saints of Jerusalem.

I am asking you to pray for a very special kindergarten in Jerusalem “Little Hearts.” The director of this special kindergarten is one of our own from the congregation. What makes this kindergarten different from all others in Jerusalem is that it has Jewish and Arab and Christian children together learning co-existence from an early age. The staff is dedicated to teaching these children the values of the kaleidoscope that is called Israel, and especially Jerusalem. If you want to contribute to this very interesting and important ministry – please mark it for “little hearts” – the opportunity to contribute for this good work is only until the end of January 2021. Any amount would be a blessing!

We received a prayer request from a dear sister, Livia Schnell Nothen, who has been with us in Portugal and has stood with our brothers in Brazil and with us on the issue of the Anussim (the “coerced ones”, descendants of 15th century Spanish and Portuguese Jews who were forced to convert to Catholicism and who continued to secretly practice their Judaism - getting the State of Israel to accept them as Jews under the Law of Return has been an issue) and their plight…

Please keep brother Philip Marc in your prayers. Philp is a young man with very serious cancer. He is a truth seeker and a faithful disciple of Yeshua who loves God and who is a lover of Israel. Philip lives far from Israel in a country that we can’t travel to, but Philips heart is with us and with God’s people.

Pray for Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias. He is the father of a dear sister in Brazil.

The situation in Israel is not getting better yet! Israel is still under closure with limited mobility and most of the economy and businesses are closed, at least for now. The economy is devastated.

I wrote last week in the Jerusalem Prayer List that it is a good work to pray for people whom you don’t know personally and to pray for the world to recover and bring an end to this horrible pandemic called the coronavirus. Corona is a crown, and I am not sure on the head of which king this virus is a crown.

1. Please keep doing intercessory prayer for the whole world, concentrate on your country, but do not forget Israel.

2. There is a blessing from God to those who pray for other brothers and sisters and intercede through the Holy Spirit for the body of the Messiah.

3. It might seem like a small thing for us to pray a few minutes for brothers and sisters around the world, but in the Kingdom and in the Heavens attention is paid by the authorities of Goodness to the caring and sincere intercessory prayer that conforms and confirms that the body of the Messiah Yeshua is truly one body.

a. Pray for all the former and present people involved in Korean Israel Bible Instruction Ministry.

b. Pray for the former board members of KIBI and those who need to repent and restore their relationship receive power from on high to do so.

c. Pray for those members and academics that are and were a part of the Israel Forum.

d. Pray for those who have prayed so faithfully for the salvation of Israel and the peace in Israel.

e. Pray for the spiritual and physical health of all those in Korea who are still praying for the body of the Messiah in Israel and specifically praying and supporting Netivyah. Bless them and inspire them and pray that they be filled with faith, hope and love for the Lord and for Israel.

Let us all pray and encourage our spiritual leaders to lead and to point us toward repentance and to confession of our sins and weaknesses, so that the Lord will lift this coronavirus from off of this earth and we will remember the Lord and seek to walk in His paths of righteousness and truth.

Danah our daughter, needs much prayer for her situation and does our granddaughter Noaam. Please lift Danah and Noaam in your prayers. Please lift Barry our son and his family, Beth, and Joey our grandson who are also staying at home and working from home during this time. Marcia’s mother June is 91 years old and her health is failing. Our sister from Jerusalem, Hadassah, had her surgery for cancer and is now at home recovering. Please keep her in your prayers.

We are praying for a three-year-old little girl who is ill with a rare illness and cancer. She lives with her family in California and we need to pray for her and her family to receive attention and healing from the Lord and to be allowed to grow up to serve His kingdom.

I am adding a new prayer request from a leader of God’s people in India, Joy Mathew. Joy has a serious heart condition and has asked for prayer. I am praying that some of the local elders will go to Joy, anoint him with oil, and pray for his healing, in accordance with the instructions given by James the brother of Yeshua in his letter to the twelve tribes of Israel living in the diaspora.

Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Brazil. Brazil is one of the countries with a remarkably high count of sick and dead people from the coronavirus. We have brothers and sisters all around Brazil, and I ask you to just say a prayer for divine protection and for wisdom to keep them clear from this deadly plague. Also include in your prayers Caique de Oliveira Becker These are people in Brazil who need the Lord’s special grace for healing. Please do not forget to lift up in prayer the young man Paulo and the Amaral family, in Brazil.

Keep Ruby Little in your prayers, our dear sister from Oklahoma City, who is also battling against cancer and add to your prayers Allison Howard Williams. Allison is the daughter of one of my incredibly special teachers and friends, Dr. George Howard. Allison is also battling cancer.

Please keep praying for Samuel Lopes, a 17-year-old boy who is going through an extremely hard time. His father and mother are extremely upset that He is not walking with the Lord and I heard from his father he has joined with friends who are far from the paths of righteousness.

Please pray for the family of brother Joseph Kelber and especially for his son. Pray for Rachael and Daniel, a brother and sister who need jobs and emotional healing. Lift these brothers and sisters in your prayers: Angela Isby, Aries Franklin Mayers Sr., and Tony Black. Keep praying for Nancy, Don and their son Aaron Hook, Rachel David Kim’s wife – Jingyung Lee, Dr. Yuizawa, Tiz H., Lion H., Michael Schiffman, Joe Mays, Ilana Abramov, Cynthia Parveen’s sister, David Stern and his family, Anne West who is now 100 years old. Keep praying for Gary, and Melanie.

Remember the following brothers and sisters from the Roeh Israel Congregation in Jerusalem; Sarit, Gabriela, Ahuva, Leah, Ilana, Hannah, young Gabriela, Zvi D. and Bathsheba, Jonathan B. and his wife Aviva and their baby, and pray for Sister Yoko Nagumo in Japan. Sister Yoko had a stroke, and we pray that her recovery will be quick and full.

I have just received a prayer request from a dear sister from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her father who is 70 years old and diabetic has contracted the COVID-19 virus. His name is Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias. He is in the hospital and his condition is particularly challenging. Please join us in lifting Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias in your prayers.

Please see your prayer as casting a vote for healing before the Lord and His angels in Heaven in favor of every brother and sister that you are praying for. Just a word of grace for all of us is a refreshing spirit. Take your prayers before the mercy seat of the Almighty to be heard in favor of those that you are lifting in prayer.

Please add to your prayers the family of Um Mahmud Abu-Eid and Jimmy their son. I believe that this is a good thing for us to pray for friends and acquaintances who are Muslims. It is an act of love and reconciliation to carry before the throne of mercy those dear people who are seeking peace and righteousness looking toward the Lord for mercy and healing.

By praying for people who are your brothers and sisters, and whom you do not know personally, you are exercising the right to be God’s ambassador in what is called “agape love.” “Agape love” is the highest form of love, a love that does not look for earthly rewards or give and take, but just does the service of intercession in the kingdom of God.

You will be blessed by the almighty God who gives each of His children good for the good we do and recompense for the bad we do. Your sincere prayers for people around the world do the following things for the Kingdom, the King, and for the body of the Messiah:

1. They unite you and the body in a major transcendent bond of prayer.

2. They demonstrate the oneness of the people of God.

3. Your prayer shows that there are people outside the realm of the physical world and personal interests who have a sincere bond and relationship that is heavenly and not earthly.

4. The Lord knows His children and gives credit and reward according to His promises.

Ahuva. Please pray for a dear brother who is well into his 90’s and lost his wife a couple of weeks ago. His name is Dov H. Please keep in your prayers a dear sister who attends our congregation in Jerusalem. Her name is Hadassah and she just had cancer surgery. Pray for Hadassah for a full recovery and remission from cancer in her body.

Pray for Israel. We are going through terrible riots and violence in the streets of Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv and other places around the country. These riots are motivated by the fact that much of the populace of Israel does not understand what the government is doing in relationship to the coronavirus pandemic.

Businesses are closing, and bankruptcy is happening to old established companies and businesses and even our national airline is on the verge of bankruptcy. People do not have money to put food on their tables. The number of people in need of basic food is growing.

Netivyah has been feeding the poor of Jerusalem for more than 25 years and we have a highly appreciated humanitarian ministry that is working with the Jerusalem municipality. As the demands for food for people who never before needed such help grows, I pray that the Lord will inspire and motivate brothers and sisters and ministries who can help with this to visit our webpage: www.netivyah.org and do what they can to make it possible for us to double or more than double, the number of people and families that we serve.

Our prime minister’s case is still before the courts. I am not happy that this is happening in Israel, but I am praying that true justice and righteousness is exhibited in our court system. The truth must come out and I am not interested in a second prime minister of Israel going to jail. We have had a president in jail, a finance minister in jail, a minister of interior affairs in jail, and a member of the parliament in jail. Enough!

I was asked by brothers and sisters of the Messianic congregation, Shoresh David (The Root of David) in Portland, Oregon, to pray for Portland. Anarchist elements have taken the center of Portland, OR, and turned it into chaos, and disorder. So, please pray for Portland, OR, and for our brothers and sisters in that city.

The coronavirus is threatening the economy of the world with a great recession and depression. Some of our major supporters have already lowered the amount of their support. They have done this not only toward Netivyah, but for all the ministries that they are supporting, and they are many. I would like to first ask you to pray about your part in supporting Netivyah Bible Instruction Ministry.

Second, I would like for you who stand with us in prayer and financially to do your absolute best to stay on board with us and communicate. We realize that times will be hard for several years, but we also realize that God has chosen and blessed you for such a time as this.

Third please pray for a new project that we are starting in Israel in partnership with the Houses for Healing ministry from Abilene, Texas.

The aim is to provide hospitality for families of critically ill patients who are hospitalized in one of Jerusalem’s hospitals and who have no means to stay in hotels while their family members are in the hospitals.

This is a critical need especially in these days when there are hundreds of men and women who are in the Coronavirus ICU units for weeks and even months.

We need your prayer and your help to make this a meaningful and significant blessing both to the sick and to their families..
 

I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children.
