예루살렘 기도 목록 – 2020년 11월 19일

세계가 이번 전염병으로 뒤집히고 있습니다. 피해자에는 사람도 산업들도 경제도 회당도 교회도 들어 있습니다. 주님께서는 우리의 용기를 북돋는 것을 도우시기 위해 하누카 직전에 우리에게 그분의 말씀을 주셨습니다.
이번 안식일, 2020년 11월 21일에 읽는 말씀은 파라샷 톨돗, 창세기 25:19~28:9입니다. 선지서에서 읽는 하프타라는 말라기 1:1~2:7입니다. 신약성경에서 읽는 말씀은 로마서 9:1-31입니다. 노아에게도 이삭에게도 의로운 후손이 있었습니다. 노아에게는 셈이 있었고 이삭에게는 야곱이 있었습니다. 둘 다 그다지 의롭지 않은 후손도 있었습니다. 노아에게는 함과 가나안이 있었고, 이츠학(이삭)에게는 에서가 있었습니다. 노아와 이삭에게는 근본적인 차이점이 있습니다. 이삭에게는 야곱에게 물려줄 유산, 영적 유산이 있었습니다. 이삭이 그의 아들에게 해준 축복은 그가 그의 아버지 아브라함에게서 받은 축복이었습니다. 그것은 세대 간의 결속과 연합으로 연결되고 계속되는 “톨돗”(역사)을 만드는 가족의 그리고 민족의 기억과 전통인 유산입니다. 모든 것이 엉망이 되고 온 세계의 미래가 불확실한 팬데믹의 이 미친 날들 동안, 우리가 읽는 말씀들은 우리의 과거에서부터 미래를 향해 하나님의 관점을 가져다주게 되어 있습니다. 성경적, 유대적 패러다임의 “톨돗”, 히브리어로 역사는 “선조들의 행위는 죄와 관련하여 자녀에게 표지판(예언적 행로)이다.”라는 뜻입니다. 미래 세대는 자기의 행위로 역사의 사슬을 만들고, 그것은 끝으로 이어지는 연결된 사슬 같은 것입니다. 여기 성경에서 우리 개인의 과거가 어떻게 우리의 미래와 우리 자녀의 미래의 모습을 만들고 그 방향을 정하는지 보는 것이 흥미롭습니다. 이것은 주님께서 우리에게 주신 놀라운 것 중에 하나로, 미래 세대에 진한 영향을 주는 것입니다. “톨돗”이란 단어는 “출산”이라는 뜻입니다. 우리가 우리 삶을 어떻게 사느냐는 우리 미래 세대의 삶에, 그들의 육신적 삶뿐만 아니라 그들이 택하는 길에도 영향을 미치고, 또한 우리의 행동이 우리 자녀의 영혼에 심은 전능하신 하나님과 맺는 관계의 모습에도 영향을 미칩니다. 이것은 주후 18세기 이래 인류가 등한시한 것입니다. 산업혁명은 경제 발전을 촉진했지만, 핵가족에게서 사람이 창조주의 형상을 따라 지음 받은 피조물로 만들어 주는 바로 그 기반을 앗아갔습니다. 자, 여기 창세기 25:19~28:9 토라 포션에는 선과 악과 추함이 있습니다. 구원역사에 있어 가장 뼈대를 이루고 중요한 가족에게서 우리는 사람의 모든 감정과, 선과 악이 섞여 있는 것과, 악 안에도 선이 조금 있으며, 인류 구원의 미래는 언제나 한 터럭에 달려있다는 것을 봅니다. 놀라운 것은 모든 것이 리브가의 뱃속에서 시작되었다는 것입니다. 이 안에서 사내아이들이 서로 싸우며 엄마 배에서 나오기도 전부터, 세상의 빛을 보기도 전부터 서로 경쟁했습니다. “이삭이 그의 아내가 임신하지 못하므로 그를 위하여 여호와께 간구하매 여호와께서 그의 간구를 들으셨으므로 그의 아내 리브가가 임신하였더니 그 아들들이 그의 태 속에서 서로 싸우는지라 그가 이르되 이럴 경우에는 내가 어찌할꼬 하고 가서 여호와께 묻자온대” – 창세기 25:21-22 여러분, 이스라엘 민족의 어머니들이 모두 아무 무리 없이 임신하여 아이를 낳지 못했었다는 이 흥미로운 사실을 생각해 보신 적 있으십니까? 그들은 모두 “임신을 못 했습니다.” 사라도, 리브가도, 라헬도, 한나도 모두 아이를 낳기 위해서는 기적이 있었어야 했습니다. 여러분, 왜 그랬다고 생각하십니까? 남자와 여자를 만드시고, 그들에게 생육하고 번성하여 땅에 충만하라 하시어 지금 인구가 90억이 넘어 100억에 이르려 할 정도로 복 주신 주님께서 왜 임신하지 못하는 어머니들로 시작하셨을까요? 저는 이 문제를 오랫동안 생각했습니다: 하나님께서는 왜 인류 구원의 길에 역사적으로 주요한 영웅들과 악한들의 평범하지 않은 출생에 명백하게 관여하시고 싶어 하셨을까? 이에 대한 저의 대답은 간단합니다. 주님께서는 우리가 무리 없이 자연스러운 일도 있지만, 온 우주의 창조주 하나님께서 그분의 창조하신 세계에 관여하심을 결코 포기하지 않으시는 초자연적인 일도 있다는 것을 알기를 원하십니다. 물론, 가장 평범하지 않은 일은, 임신하지 못하는 여인이 아이를 낳은 사건이 아닌, 남자를 알지도 못하는 여인이 아이를 낳은 사건인, 우리 메시아 예슈아의 탄생입니다! 저에게는 이 토라 포션 중에서 중요한 부분은 아름다움과 선이 있는 사람의 단순함과, 동시에 같은 사람들에게서 이기심과 교묘히 조종하는 행동이 있는 것과 선과 악이 섞여 있고 정교한 페르시아 카펫처럼 긴밀히 짜여 있는 것을 볼 수 있다는 것입니다. 이 말씀 안에 있는 모든 인물이 선한 성품과 악한 성품이 있습니다. 모든 인물이 축복 받았고 모두가 큰 약점이 있습니다. 성경 인물 모두에게는 은혜와 진리가 있지만, 특별히 하나님의 말씀 중 이 파라샤에 특히 더 그렇습니다. “족보”로 번역된 첫 단어 “톨돗”은 성경을 구성하는 거룩한 희극과 비극의 가장 강력한 요소입니다. 저에게 이것이 극적인 이유는 창세기에서 일어나는 모든 것이 예슈아와 신약에 영향을 미치기 때문입니다. 여기 그런 한 예가 있습니다: “여호와께서 그에게 이르시되 두 국민이 네 태중에 있구나 두 민족이 네 복중에서부터 나누이리라 이 족속이 저 족속보다 강하겠고 큰 자가 어린 자를 섬기리라 하셨더라.” – 창세기 25:23 이 예언의 마지막 문장은 “큰 자가 어린 자를 섬기리라”입니다. 히브리어로는 “베랍 야아볻 자예르”입니다. 제2성전 시대 히브리어로는 “랍비가 제자를 섬길 것이다”로 번역되었을 것입니다. 예슈아께서 유월절 세데르 만찬 전에 그분의 제자들의 발을 씻기신 극적인 장면에서, 나누신 대화는 창세기의 이 말씀에 근거한 것입니다. 요한복음 13장의 해당 말씀입니다: “그들의 발을 씻으신 후에 옷을 입으시고 다시 앉아 그들에게 이르시되 내가 너희에게 행한 것을 너희가 아느냐 너희가 나를 선생이라 또는 주라 하니 너희 말이 옳도다 내가 그러하다 내가 주와 또는 선생이 되어 너희 발을 씻었으니 너희도 서로 발을 씻어 주는 것이 옳으니라.” – 요한복음 13:12–14 히브리어로 “선생”은 “랍”, “랍비”입니다. 내가 너희 발을 씻어 너희를 섬기고 있다. 이것은 하나님께서 그분을 섬기도록, 그분의 제자들을 섬기도록, 심지어 이 세상의 에서의 제자들을 섬기도록 선택하신 사람들의 소명입니다. 요한복음의 이 전체 장면은 창세기에서 리브가에게 주신 예언적 약속에 근거하고 있습니다. 이번 안식일에 읽는 창세기의 이 토라 포션에 대해 언급한 또 다른 말씀이 있습니다. 로마서 9:10-12인데요, 이 말씀도 창세기 말씀을 이방 나라들이 이스라엘에 대해 갖는 관계에 대하여 의무적이고 예언적인 예로 보고 있습니다. “그뿐 아니라 또한 리브가가 우리 조상 이삭 한 사람으로 말미암아 임신하였는데 그 자식들이 아직 나지도 아니하고 무슨 선이나 악을 행하지 아니한 때에 택하심을 따라 되는 하나님의 뜻이 행위로 말미암지 않고 오직 부르시는 이로 말미암아 서게 하려 하사 리브가에게 이르시되 큰 자가 어린 자를 섬기리라 하셨나니” – 로마서 9:10–12 사실 사도 바울은 로마서의 그의 마지막 견해에서 이것을 분명히 말하고 있습니다: “그러나 이제는 내가 성도를 섬기는 일로 예루살렘에 가노니 이는 마게도냐와 아가야 사람들이 예루살렘 성도 중 가난한 자들을 위하여 기쁘게 얼마를 연보하였음이라 저희가 기뻐서 하였거니와 또한 저희는 그들에게 빚진 자니 만일 이방인들이 그들의 영적인 것을 나눠 가졌으면 육적인 것으로 그들을 섬기는 것이 마땅하니라.” – 로마서 15:25–27
저를 오랫동안 아시는 분들은 제가 좀처럼 네티비야를 위한 재정적 후원에 대해 쓰거나 말하지 않는다는 것도 아실 것입니다. 요즈음 이 코로나바이러스라는 전 세계적 전염병은 모든 사람과 모든 나라에 어려움을 주고 있습니다.
이것은 모든 사람에게 육신적으로, 영적으로, 재정적으로 어려움을 주고 있습니다. 그런데 예루살렘에 있는 저희에게는 주님께서 예루살렘의 가난한 사람들을 섬기고 주고 축복할 비상한 기회를 주셨습니다. 저희도, 90대 중반과 80대 후반으로 혼자서 건강히 사시던 아주 연로하시고 신실하신 자매님들이 건강이 나빠지셔서 저희가 그분들을 육신적으로 돌봐드려야 하는 아주 큰 어려움들이 좀 있습니다. 영적으로는 그분들이 저희 젊은 세대에게 용기를 주십니다.
친애하는 형제자매님들, 여러분 중 많은 분들이 예루살렘의 굶주리고 가난한 사람들을 먹이고, 예슈아의 유대인 및 아랍인 제자들에게 재정적 도움을 주고 좋은 교육을 받고 발전하도록 아주 후하게 헌금해 주셨습니다.
여러분은 건축을 위해, 차량을 위해, 군인들을 위해 헌금해 주셨고, 하나님께서는 여러분 각 사람 모두에게 복 주셨습니다. 진짜 가난한 중에 헌금해 주신 형제자매님들도 계십니다.
매월, 어떤 분들은 매주, 그저 몇 달러라도 보내시는 분들도 몇 분 계십니다. 헌금하셨고 하고 계신 모든 분들께 깊이 감사드립니다. 저희는 복음서의 가난한 과부처럼 자기의 동전 두 닢을 헌금하시는 모든 분과 또 수천 달러를 헌금하신 분들께 감사드리고 그분들을 위해 기도합니다.
그러나 제가 이것을 쓰는 것은 저희와 이스라엘을 즐거워하시고 배워 알고 위하여 기도는 하시지만 헌금은 하신 적이 없으신 분들께, 하나님의 말씀을 이스라엘 사람들, 유대인과 아랍인 모두에게 전하는 이 큰 사역에 동참하시도록 고무하고자 쓰는 것입니다.
아직 헌금을 하신 적이 없으신 친애하는 형제자매님들, 그러나 압박감을 느끼지도 마시고 언짢게 생각하지도 마시기 바랍니다. 저는 그 누구도 판단하고 있는 것이 아니라, 그저 여러분이 축복 받으시고 또 축복하시라고 고무하는 것뿐입니다.
여러분이 할 수 있는 일, 뭐든지 여러분이 할 수 있는 일을 하는 것은 옳고 선한 일입니다. 금액이 헌금에 있어서 가장 중요한 부분이 아닌 이유는 주님께서 우리를 잘 아시고 우리의 역량을 아시기 때문입니다. 우리의 일은 예루살렘 시에서부터 세계와 열방에 이르기까지 일하고 섬기는 것입니다.
저는 그저 친애하는 형제자매님들이 참여하는 금액 때문에 위협을 느끼지 마시고, 그분들이 주님께서 저희를 사용하여 예루살렘과 이스라엘과 전 세계에서 섬기게 하신 이 위대한 일과 사역에 역할이 있는 분들 중 한 분이라는 사실에 용기를 얻으시라고 언급하고 격려하고 싶은 것입니다. 하나님께서 여러분 모두에게 복 주시기를 축복합니다!
저는 이 예루살렘 기도 목록에서 엄청나게 특별한 기도를 좀 부탁드릴 것입니다.
1. 주님을 찬양합니다. 저희는 오늘 11월 18일 수요일에 미국에 안전하게 도착했습니다. 저희는 마르시아의 친정어머니를 뵈러 테네시 동부로 갈 것입니다. 그녀는 90세가 넘으셨고 폐암이 있지만 의학적 치료를 거부하고 있습니다. 저는 여러분께 차로 오랫동안 가는 이 여정과 마르시아의 친정어머니와 친정가족을 만나 뵙는 것을 위해 기도해 주시기를 부탁드립니다. 또한 마르시아와 저의 건강을 위해서도 기도해 주시기를 부탁드립니다. 저희 둘 다 늙어가고 있고 나이를 실감하기 시작했습니다.
2. 95세이시며 혼자 사시는 귀한 자매님이 계십니다. 우리의 귀한 일라나 자매님은 육체적으로도 인지적으로도 스스로를 돌볼 수 없다고 진단을 받아, 저희는 일라나 자매님에게 종일 돌보미를 붙여드려야 합니다. 다니엘과 유다와 한나가 아주 훌륭하게 잘 하고 있어 적어도 당분간 일라나 자매님을 돌봐드릴 수 있는 사람을 구했습니다. 저는 여러분께 우선 일라나 자매님과 그녀를 돌보는 사람들을 위해 기도해 주시기를 부탁드립니다. 그 다음, 여러분의 기도에 네티비야를 기억해 주시고 저희가 우리 형제자매님들을 위해 하는 일에 함께 해주시기를 부탁드립니다. 자원하여 일라나 자매님을 섬기며 성경에서 가장 중요한 명령, 즉 고아와 과부, 진짜 과부를 돌봄에 자기의 시간과 에너지를 내어주는 이들을 위해 기도해 주시기를 부탁드립니다. 우리가 우리 공동체를 위해 이 일을 하는 것은 분명한 명령이며, 저희는 여러분의 기도와 후원을 부탁드립니다.

우리 영적 지도자들이 우리를 회개로, 죄와 허물을 고백하는 데로 이끌고 지적하여, 주님께서 이 코로나바이러스를 이 땅에서 거두시고 우리가 주님을 기억하며 그분의 의와 진리의 길로 걸어가게 하도록 우리 모두 기도하며 격려합시다.
제 건강과 제 눈을 위해 기도해 주셔서 감사합니다. 저는 수술 전보다 아주 훨씬 더 잘 보게 되었습니다. 저를 위해 기도해 주신 여러분 모두께 감사드립니다. 저와 제 아내 마르시아를 위해 계속 기도해 주시기 바랍니다. 마르시아는 요즈음 기력이 별로 없고 하루 중 많은 시간을 잡니다. 그녀는 류마티스 관절염으로 인한 통증이 심하며 눈에도 백내장이 있지만 당뇨 때문에 수술을 하는 것은 위험합니다. 저희는 여러분의 기도가 필요합니다.

The Jerusalem Prayer List – November 19, 2020

The world is turning upside down with this plague. The victims include people and industries, and the culture, and economics, and synagogues and churches. The Lord has given us His word just before Hanukkah to help encourage us.
The reading this Shabbat, November 21, 2020 is from Parashat Toldot, Genesis 25:19-28:9. The Haftarah from the prophets is from Malachi 1:1-2:7. The reading from the New Testament is from Romans 9:1-31. Both Noah and Isaac had righteous offspring. Noah had Shem and Isaac had Jacob. Both also had offspring that were not so righteous. Noah had Ham and Canaan, and Yitzchak had Esau. There is a fundamental difference between Noah and Isaac. Isaac had a heritage to transmit to Jacob, a spiritual inheritance. The blessings that Isaac gave his son were those that he had received from his father Abraham. It is heritage, family and national memory and traditions that create “toldot” (history), a continuity and connection to generational bonding and unity. During these crazy days of the pandemic when almost everything is in disarray and the future of the whole world is unsure, our readings are supposed to bring some divine perspective from our past towards our future. The biblical and Jewish paradigm of Toldot, history, means in Hebrew: “The deeds of the fathers are a sign (a prophetic path) for the children with regard to sin.” Future generations form a chain of history by their deeds; it's like a linked chain leading to the end. It is interesting to see here in the Bible, how our personal past shapes and directs our future, and the future of our children. This is one of the amazing things that the Lord has given us, an intense effect on future generations. The word “toldot” means “birthings”. How we live our lives affects the lives of our future generations, not only their physical life, but also the paths they take as well as their relationship with the Almighty God patterns that our actions plant in the souls of our children. This is something that since the 18th century AD, humanity has neglected. The industrial revolution promoted economic progress, but took away from the nuclear family the very matrix that made the human being a creature created in the image and form of the Creator. So, here you have it in this reading from Genesis 25:19 - 28:9, the good the bad and the ugly. In the most formative and important family in the history of salvation we have every human emotion, and the good is mixed with the bad and the bad has some good in it, and the future of humanity’s salvation is always hanging by a hair. The amazing thing is that it all starts in Rebecca’s womb, where twin boys are fighting each other and competing with each other even before they come out of her womb, and even before they're seeing the light of day. “Now Isaac pleaded with the Lord for his wife, because she was barren; and the Lord granted his plea, and Rebekah his wife conceived. But the children struggled together within her; and she said, ‘If all is well, why am I like this?’ So she went to inquire of the Lord.” – Genesis 25:21-22 [NKJV] Have you ever considered this interesting fact that all the mothers of the nation of Israel were not able to conceive and have children naturally? They were all “barren.” Sara, Rebecca, Rachel, Hannah, all had to have a miracle to give birth to children. Why do you think this is so? Why does the Lord who created man and woman and blessed them (or if you wish cursed them) to give birth to children and to replenish the earth with a population that is now exceeding the 9 billion and approaching the 10 billion mark, start with barren mothers? I have considered this question for a long time: Why did God want to be clearly involved in the out of the ordinary births of the major historical heroes and villains in the path to the salvation of humanity? My answer to this is simple, the Lord wanted us to know that there is the natural, but there is also beyond the natural the Lord God the Creator of the universe who has never abdicated His involvement in His creation. Of course the most out of the ordinary, is the birth of Yeshua our Messiah that is not a birth given by a barren woman, but a birth given by a woman who knew no man! The important part in this Torah reading for me is the simplicity of humanity with its beauty and with its good and at the same time from the same people you see the selfishness, and the manipulative behavior, the good and the bad mixed and interwoven tightly like a fine Persian carpet. Every character in this text has good qualities and bad qualities. Every character is blessed and everyone has major weaknesses. There is grace and truth in all of the biblical characters, but especially in this particular parasha of God’s word. The first word “toldot”, translated as “genealogy”, is the most powerful element of the divine comedy and tragedy that makes up the Bible. For me this is dramatic because everything that happens in Genesis influences Yeshua and the New Testament. Here's just one example: “And the Lord said to her: ‘Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples shall be separated from your body; One people shall be stronger than the other, And the older shall serve the younger.’” – Genesis 25:23 [NKJV] The last phrase in this prophecy is, “And the older shall serve the younger.” In transliterated Hebrew it looks like this: “ve-rav ya’avod zayer.” In the Hebrew language of the Second Temple it would be translated as, “The rabbi will serve the disciple.” In the dramatic scene of Yeshua washing the feet of his disciples before the Passover Seder meal, the conversation is based on this text in Genesis. Here is the text from John 13: “So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, ‘Do you know what I have done to you? You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.’” – John 13:12–14 [NKJV] “Teacher” in Hebrew is “rav”, “rabbi”, and I am serving you by washing your feet. This is the calling of those who are chosen by God to serve Him, to serve His disciples, to serve even the Esau’s of this world. This whole scene in John 13 is based on the prophetic promises given to Rebecca in Genesis. We have another allusion to the Genesis portion of the reading for this Shabbat, and it is from Romans 9:10-12, that also sees the story of Genesis as an obligatory prophetic example for the relationship of the Gentile nations to Israel. “And not only this, but when Rebecca also had conceived by one man, even by our father Isaac (for the children not yet being born, nor having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works but of Him who calls), it was said to her, ‘The older shall serve the younger.’” – Romans 9:10–12 [NKJV] In fact the apostle Paul in his last notes in Romans says it clearly: “‘But now I am going to Jerusalem to minister to the saints. For it pleased those from Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor among the saints who are in Jerusalem. It pleased them indeed, and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister to them in material things.’” – Romans 15:25–27 [NKJV]
Those who know me for a long time also know that I very seldom write or talk about financial support for Netivyah. These days of the worldwide plague of the coronavirus have been hard on everyone and on every nation.
It has been hard physically and spiritually and financially on everyone. However, for us in Jerusalem the Lord has provided extra ordinary opportunities to serve and give and bless the poor of Jerusalem. We also have some very big challenges with some very old and faithful sisters who are well into their mid-90’s and very late 80’s, who live by themselves and whose health is failing, and we must take care of them physically. Spiritually, they are an encouragement to us, the younger generations.
Many of you dear brothers and sisters have been wonderfully generous and have provided the financial means to feed the hungry and poor of Jerusalem, and to provide financial help to both Jewish and Arab disciples of Yeshua, to receive a good education and to progress.
You have given for the building and for the transportation, and for the soldiers, and God bless each and every one of you. We have brothers and sisters who have truly given from their poverty.
We have some who send just a few dollars or pounds every month, and some every week. Everyone who has given and gives is deeply appreciated. We are thankful and pray for everyone who has given their two pence like the widow in the Gospel and also for those who have given thousands of dollars.
But, I am writing this to encourage those who have enjoyed and learned and prayed for us and for Israel but have not given, to participate, and to take part in this great ministry of God’s Word to the people of Israel, for both Jews and Arabs.
You dear brothers and sisters who have not given yet, please don’t be pressured and don’t feel bad. I am not judging anyone but just encouraging you to be blessed and to bless.
It is the right and good thing to do what you can, whatever you can. The amounts are not the most significant part of giving because the Lord knows us well and knows our capabilities. Our task is to do the work and to serve in and from the City of Jerusalem and out to the world and the nations.
I just want to mention and encourage those dear brothers and sisters not to be intimidated by the amount of their participation, but to be encouraged that they are one of those who have a part in this great work and ministry that the Lord is using us to serve in Jerusalem and in Israel and throughout the world. I am asking you for some incredibly special prayers for this Jerusalem Prayer List.
1. Praise the Lord we have arrived safely in the USA. Today, Wednesday, November 18th, we are traveling to East Tennessee to see Marcia’s mother. She is past 90 years old and has lung cancer and refuses any medical treatment I am asking for your prayers both for the long trip by car, and for the meeting and visit with Marcia’s mother and family. I am also asking you to pray for Marcia and for my health. We are both getting older and are beginning to feel our age.
2. We have a dear sister that is 95 years old and lives alone. Our dear sister Ilana has been diagnosed as not able to care for herself both physically and cognitively, and we have to provide Ilana with a full-time caretaker. Daniel and Yuda and Hannah are doing a wonderful job and have found a person who can at least temporarily care for Ilana. I am asking you to first pray for Ilana and for those who care for her and who will care for her. Then, I am asking you to keep Netivyah in your prayers, and to stand with what we are doing for our brothers and sisters. I am asking you to pray for those who are volunteering and serving Ilana, and giving of their time and energy to keep the most important commandments in the bible and that is to take care of orphans and widows and widows-in-deed. It is a clear commandment for us to do this for our communities, and we are asking for your prayers and support.
3. Zacharias Waldner from Canada who is paraplegic has problem with sores and is asking for our prayers. Please add Zacharias to your prayer list.
4. Keep a dear brother in Asia in your prayer. Philip Marc is his name. Philip is a young man who is battling serious cancer. He is a truth seeker and faithful disciple of Yeshua who loves God and is a lover of Israel.
5. Pray for Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias. He is the father of a dear sister in Brazil.
6. Please keep praying for the entire list – just mention these names before the mercy seat of the almighty one of Israel and before Yeshua our Lord, and ask for healing and blessing. It is a great privilege to pray for others and there is a blessing for you when you bless others. This is a biblical principle.
7. Please pray for a dear sister in Brazil who has been diagnosed with cancer. Her name is Livia Schnell Nothen, and I have known her as a part of the congregation in Belo-Horizonte for many years. She is a young mother and please pray and plead for her healing in Yeshua’s name.
Israel is still under closure with limited mobility and most of the economy is shut down and many businesses are closed, at least until next Sunday night at midnight. The economy is devastated.
1. Please keep doing intercessory prayer for the whole world, concentrate on your country, but don’t forget Israel.
2. There is a blessing from God to those who pray for other brothers and sisters and intercede through the Holy Spirit for the body of the Messiah.
3. It might seem like a small thing for us to pray a few minutes for brothers and sisters around the world, but in the Kingdom and in the heavens attention is paid by the authorities of goodness to caring and sincere intercession and prayer that conforms and confirms that the body of the Messiah Yeshua is truly one body.
a. Pray for all the former and present people that are involved with Korean Israel Bible Instruction Ministry.
b. Pray for the former board members of KIBI and those who need to repent and restore their relationship and that they may receive power from heaven to do so.
c. Pray for those members and academics that are and were a part of the Israel Forum.
d. Pray for those who have prayed so faithfully for the salvation of Israel and for peace in Israel.
e. Pray for the spiritual and physical health of all those in Korea who are still praying for the body of the Messiah in Israel and specifically praying and supporting Netivyah. May they be blessed inspired and filled with faith, hope and love for the Lord and for Israel.
Let us all pray and encourage our spiritual leaders to lead and to point us toward repentance and to confession of our sins and weaknesses, so that the Lord will lift this coronavirus from off of this earth and we will remember the Lord and seek to walk in His paths of righteousness and truth.
I appreciate the prayers for my health and my eye. I see so much better with my eye than I did before the surgery. Thank you, all your prayers, for me. Please continue to pray for me and for my wife Marcia. Marcia has truly little energy these days and sleeps most of the day. She is in pain from the rheumatoid arthritis and her eyes have cataracts, but since she is diabetic it is too dangerous to operate. We need your prayers.
Danah our daughter, needs much prayer for her situation and so does our granddaughter Noaam. Please lift Danah and Noaam in your prayers. Please lift Barry our son and his family, Beth, and Joey our grandson who are also staying at home and working from home during this time. Marcia’s mother June is 91 years old and her health is failing. Our sister from Jerusalem, Hadassah, had her surgery for cancer and is now at home recovering. Please keep her in your prayers.
Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Brazil. Brazil is one of the countries with a remarkably high count of sick and dead people from the coronavirus. We have brothers and sisters all around Brazil, and I ask you to just say a prayer for divine protection and wisdom to keep clear from this deadly plague. Pray for healing and strength for 70-year-old men by the name of Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias. Also include in your prayers Caique de Oliveira Becker. These are people in Brazil that need the Lord’s special grace for healing. Please do not forget to lift and pray for the young man Paulo and for the Amaral family in Brazil.
Please keep our dear brother Pastor TJ in Taiwan. TJ is going through a new phase in his life.
Keep Ruby Little in your prayers, our dear sister from Oklahoma City, who is also battling against cancer and add to your prayers Allison Howard Williams. Allison is the daughter of one of my incredibly special teachers and friends, Dr. George Howard. Allison is also battling cancer.

Please keep praying for Samuel Lopes, a 17-year-old boy who is going through an extremely hard time. His father and mother are extremely upset that He is not walking with the Lord and I heard from his father he has joined with friends who are far from the paths of righteousness. Please pray for the family of brother Joseph Kelber and especially for his son.
Pray for Rachael and Daniel, a brother and sister who need jobs and emotional healing.
Lift these brothers and sisters in your prayers: Angela Isby, Aries Franklin Mayers Sr., and Tony Black. Keep praying for Nancy, Don and their son Aaron Hook, Rachel David Kim’s wife – Jingyung Lee, Dr. Yuizawa, Tiz H., Lion H., Michael Schiffman, Joe Mays, Ilana Abramov, Cynthia Parveen’s sister, David Stern and his family, Anne West who is now 100 years old. Remember the following brothers and sisters from the Roeh Israel Congregation in Jerusalem; Sarit, Gabriela, Ahuva, Leah, Ilana, Hannah, young Gabriela, Zvi D. and Bathsheba, Jonathan B. and his wife Aviva and their baby, and pray for Sister Yoko Nagumo in Japan. Sister Yoko had a stroke, and we pray that her recovery will be quick and full.
From Chennai, India, please remember Pastor Isaac. From Hong Kong, remember all of Hong Kong during these days of several different kinds of viruses and the coronavirus. I have just received a prayer request from a dear sister from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her father who is 70 years old and diabetic has contracted the COVID-19 virus. His name is Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias. He is in the hospital and his condition is particularly challenging. Please join us in lifting Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias in your prayers.
Please see your prayer as casting a vote for healing before the Lord and His angels in Heaven in favor of every brother and sister that you are praying for. Just a word of grace for all of us is a refreshing spirit. Take your prayers before the mercy seat of the Almighty to be heard in favor of those that you are lifting in prayer.
Please add to your prayers the family of Um Mahmud Abu-Eid and Jimmy their son. I believe that this is a good thing for us to pray for friends and acquaintances who are Muslims. It is an act of love and reconciliation to carry before the throne of mercy those dear people who are seeking peace and righteousness looking toward the Lord for mercy and healing.

By praying for people who are your brothers and sisters, and whom you do not know personally, you are exercising the right to be God’s ambassador in what is called “agape love.” “Agape love” is the highest form of love, a love that does not look for earthly rewards or give and take, but just does the service of intercession in the kingdom of God.
You will be blessed by the almighty God who gives each of His children good for the good we do and recompense for the bad we do. Your sincere prayers for people around the world do the following things for the Kingdom, the King, and for the body of the Messiah:
1. They unite you and the body in a major transcendent bond of prayer.
2. They demonstrate the oneness of the people of God.
3. Your prayer shows that there are people outside the realm of the physical world and personal interests who have a sincere bond and relationship that is heavenly and not earthly.
4. The Lord knows His children and gives credit and reward according to His promises.

Ahuva. Please pray for a dear brother who is well into his 90’s and lost his wife a couple of weeks ago. His name is Dov H. Please keep a dear sister who attends our congregation in Jerusalem. Her name is Hadassah and she just had cancer surgery. Pray for Hadassah for a full recovery and remission from cancer in her body.
Pray for Israel. We are going through terrible riots and violence in the streets of Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv and other places around the country. These riots are motivated by the fact that much of the populace of Israel does not understand what the government is doing in relationship to the coronavirus pandemic.
Businesses are closing and bankruptcy is happening to old established companies and businesses and even our national airline is on the verge of bankruptcy. People do not have money to put food on their tables. The number of people in need of basic food is growing.
Netivyah has been feeding the poor of Jerusalem for more than 25 years and we have a highly appreciated humanitarian ministry that is working with the Jerusalem municipality. As the demands for food for people who never before needed such help grows, I pray that the Lord will inspire and motivate brothers and sisters and ministries who can help with this to go to the webpage: www.netivyah.org and do what they can to make it possible for us to double or more than double, the number of people and families that we serve.
Our prime minister’s case is still before the courts. I am not happy that this is happening in Israel, but I am praying that true justice and righteousness is exhibited in our court system. The truth must come out and I am not interested in a second prime minister of Israel going to jail. We have had a president in jail, a finance minister in jail, a minister of interior affairs in jail, and a member of the parliament in jail. Enough!

Anarchist elements have taken the center of Portland, OR, and turned it into chaos, and disorder. So, please pray for Portland, OR, and for our brothers and sisters in that city.
The coronavirus is threatening the economy of the world with a great recession and depression. Some of our major supporters have already lowered the amount of their support. They have done this not only toward Netivyah, but for all the ministries that they are supporting, and they are many. I would like to first ask you to pray about your part in supporting Netivyah Bible Instruction Ministry.
Second, I would like for you who stand with us in prayer and financially to do your absolute best to stay on board with us and communicate. We realize that times will be hard for several years, but we also realize that God has chosen and blessed you for such a time as this.
Third please pray for a new project that we are starting in Israel in partnership with the Houses for Healing ministry from Abilene, Texas.
The aim is to provide hospitality for families of critically ill patients who are hospitalized in one of Jerusalem’s hospitals and who have no means to stay in hotels while their family members are in the hospitals.
This is a critical need especially in these days when there are hundreds of men and women who are in the Coronavirus ICU units for weeks and even months.
We need your prayer and your help to make this a meaningful and significant blessing both to the sick and to their families.
I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish!
