In every area where he served, he built congregations which gave glory to Yeshua. As we read Paul's words in Romans 9:3, let us keep in mind that he himself was once against Yeshua and yet here he was willing to lose his salvation, to be outcast from the Messiah for the sake of his brothers. For I could wish that I myself were accursed, separated from Messiah for the sake of my countrymen, my kinsmen according to the flesh, Romans 9:3 Why were/are the Jewish people (Israel) then and now, against Messiah? Why don't they accept Him when we know that in Him we have Peace and eternal life? Today, here in Israel, we see that even a left minded government is still against Messianic Jews. They may respect Christianity; but not the founder of the faith. Why? Many missionaries came to Israel and the Jewish people in the past in order to convert them to Christianity. However, for a Jew to accept Yeshua, he would find himself in the center in Yeshua but otherwise in between two worlds. The main reason Paul speaks against the Torah is because salvation doesn't come from being Torah observant, not even from being Jewish, it only comes from Yeshua himself. So what we see throughout the history of Judiasm is the spirit of the rabbis and Pharisees controlling and even manipulating the nation. That is what Yeshua stood against, provoking their teaching, especially in how to be accepted and holy in the eyes of the Lord. Again, its not our deeds that make us holy but by the grace of Yeshua. When we understand what He has done we see our ability to be connected directly to Father God, not through a mediator, rabbi or a set of rules. In Isaiah 41, the prophet speaks about God's promises to Israel. That even though they don't give God glory He will not forsake them. This takes me to the promise that all Israel will be saved. Yet I find myself asking Abba how will you do that? All I see today is a resistance against the word and people of God. Israel is a nation that received a promise and are under covenant but still far away from God's way. When I look into the various communities around me; the choices available, I see that the young generation is approaching many ways but not Yeshua's way. Even when Jewish people repent, first they go to the rabbi not Yeshua and again the rabbi feeds them with more and more laws and rules, even keeping Shabbat as the way to repentance. We know that advice and those solutions are good for a short time because there is only one redeemer for our heart and only He provides forgiveness. That is why Paul says what he does in Romans 9:3, because he sees the heart of the people. Yet they are blocked inside the fence of the rabbinical way. I believe there is a difference between religion and faith. Yeshua brought us into faith and not religion. |
