이번 안식일에 전 세계 모든 회당에서는 신명기 11:26~16:17을 읽습니다. 이 토라 포션의 이름은 “레에”(“보라”)입니다.
저는 이번 안식일 토라 포션의 첫 단어가 제게 아주 큰 의미가 있다고 생각합니다. 바로 1주일 전에 저는 제 왼쪽 눈에 큰 수술을 두 번째 받았습니다. 제 왼쪽 눈은 70년 동안 먼 상태였습니다. 어릴 때 사고로 실명했는데 제가 다섯 살 때였습니다. 저는 제 왼쪽 눈에 두 번째 수술을 받았습니다. 이번 수술은 각막 이식 수술이었습니다. 이제 제 왼쪽 눈은 안구와 망막 외에는 모든 것이 새 것입니다. 이제 이번 안식일 토라 포션으로 가서, 이 포션은 이 말씀으로 시작됩니다: “(보라) 내가 오늘 복과 저주를 너희 앞에 두나니…” – 신명기 11:26 선지서에서 읽는 말씀은 이사야 54:11~55:5입니다. 여기에도 치유 요소가 매우 강한데요, 민족적, 지리적, 개인적 치유와 새 예루살렘에 대한 언급이 있습니다. 이사야 선지자는 예루살렘을 말하고 있는데요, 예루살렘을 통해 온 이스라엘을 말하는 것입니다. 다음과 같은 말로 되어 있습니다: “너 곤고하며 광풍에 요동하여 안위를 받지 못한 자여 보라 내가 화려한 채색으로 네 돌 사이에 더하며 청옥으로 네 기초를 쌓으며…” – 이사야 54:11 이것은 예루살렘과 이스라엘 민족에게 아주 경이로운 말씀이지만, 고난과 병으로 고통당하고, 학대로 고통당하고, 심지어 약한 믿음과 불안한 삶으로 고생하고 있는 모든 사람들에게도 경이로운 말씀입니다. 주님께서 우리의 회복에, 더 나아가, 우리의 고난당하던 처지에서, 잿더미에서 부유함으로, 고난과 이리저리 휩쓸리던 광풍에서 보석, 보물, 청옥으로의 회복에 관여하실 수 있으시다는 점입니다. 저는 이사야 선지자가 보석과 청옥이라는 물질적인 면만 말하는 것이라고 생각하지 않습니다. 저는 이사야가 물질적 보석보다 훨씬 더 크고 더 소중한 것에 대해 말하는 것이라고 믿습니다. 다음 이사야 54:13-17 말씀을 주목해 보십시오: “네 모든 자녀는 여호와의 교훈을 받을 것이니 네 자녀에게는 큰 평안이 있을 것이며 너는 공의로 설 것이며 학대가 네게서 멀어질 것인즉 네가 두려워하지 아니할 것이며 공포도 네게 가까이하지 못할 것이라 보라 그들이 분쟁을 일으킬지라도 나로 말미암지 아니한 것이니 누구든지 너와 분쟁을 일으키는 자는 너로 말미암아 패망하리라 보라 숯불을 불어서 자기가 쓸 만한 연장을 제조하는 장인도 내가 창조하였고 파괴하며 진멸하는 자도 내가 창조하였은즉 너를 치려고 제조된 모든 연장이 쓸모가 없을 것이라 일어나 너를 대적하여 송사하는 모든 혀는 네게 정죄를 당하리니 이는 여호와의 종들의 기업이요 이는 그들이 내게서 얻은 공의니라 여호와의 말씀이니라.” – 이사야 54:13-17 이사야의 예언의 말을 통한 하나님의 약속은 우리 자녀가 주님으로부터 교훈을 받을 것이며, 우리 자녀의 평안이 클 것이라는 것입니다. 저는 역사 학도로서 주전 8세기부터 우리 시대까지 이스라엘 역사를 다소간 압니다. 우리 역사에 한 장도 이사야의 이 말이 현실이었던 적은 없었습니다. 이것이 정말로 있는 경우라면 이것은 우리가 아직도 기다리며, 우리 역사에 하나님의 약속들이 고난당한 이스라엘 민족에게 이루어지는 것을, 100번도 더 넘게 예루살렘과 이스라엘을 대적하여 증오와 멸망을 내뿜는 적들에게서 계속해서 고난당하고 미움 받고 박해받고 공격받고 위협 받은 우리와 관련하여 모든 상세한 부분까지 이루어지는 것을 봐야 한다는 뜻입니다. 스가랴 선지자는 다음과 같은 말로 상황을 묘사합니다: “여호와께서 사탄에게 이르시되 사탄아 여호와께서 너를 책망하노라 예루살렘을 택한 여호와께서 너를 책망하노라 이는 불에서 꺼낸 그슬린 나무가 아니냐 하실 때에” – 스가랴 3:2 그렇습니다, 친애하는 형제님들, 국가 이스라엘의 수도인 예루살렘은 사실 아직도 불에서 꺼낸 그슬린 나무입니다. 나치 집단수용소 화장터 불에서 말입니다. 저희에게 이스라엘에서 나고 자란 본토박이 이스라엘인과 아프리카에서 이민해온 이민자들과 아르헨티나에서 온 유대인 가우초와 뉴욕과 캘리포니아와 텍사스에서 온 유대인 카우보이 등의 훌륭한 군인들로 이루어진 훌륭한 이스라엘군이 있기는 하지만, 이스라엘과 예루살렘은 아직도 불에서 꺼낸 그슬린 나무입니다. 저희 군에는 유대인, 드루즈인, 무슬림, 기독교인, 흑인, 백인, 중국계 유대인, 자녀가 도쿄올림픽에서 금메달을 따고 있는 러시아계 이민자가 있습니다. 네, 안전하고 그 약속이 확실하고 반석 위에 서 있는 유일한 힘은 선지자들을 통해 주신 이스라엘의 전능하신 하나님의 약속입니다. 이 땅의 메시아 예슈아의 제자들인 저희들은 의지할 닻이 오직 하나 있습니다. 우리 구주이며 세상의 구주이신 예슈아를 따르는 우리들에게는 기댈 방벽이 오직 하나 있습니다. 의지할 수 있고 안전한, 믿을만한 유일한 약속들은 하나님께서 우리 선지자들에게 주신 약속들뿐입니다. 저희는 민족으로 국가로 살며 이사야, 예레미야, 에스겔, 호세아, 요엘, 아모스 및 그 외 하나님께서 그들을 통해 이 민족을 축복하셨던 선지자들의 말을 통해 그린 지도를 따라가고 있습니다. 그러니, 친애하는 형제자매님들, 고난당한 저희 민족은 밖으로는 넓게 포진한 적들에 의해 고난당하고, 안으로는 하나님에 대한 믿음이나 우리 선지자들을 통해 말씀하신 하나님의 말씀에 대한 믿음도 없는 저희와 같은 부류의 일부 지도자들로부터 고난당하지만, 동시에, 저희는 아주 오래 전 이사야가 말하고 기록한 하나님의 이 말씀을 받은 자들입니다. 여러분 중 어떤 분들은 이사야를 통해 말씀하신 모든 것이 이루어지는 것을 볼 것입니다. 여러분은 예루살렘이 번성하고 커지며 주님으로부터 친히 인도 되고 교훈 받는 청소년들로 장식되는 것을 볼 것입니다. 여러분 중 어떤 분들은 젊은 세대 지도자들이 주님의 예루살렘 재림을 기다리는 것뿐만 아니라, 예슈아께서 수백만 천사들이 수행하는 가운데 올리브산(감람산) 정상에 내려오시어 착지하시는 것도 볼 것입니다. 토라 포션 “레에”를 계속 읽어 내려가 보면 우리에게 중요한 또 하나의 큰 교훈이 있습니다! 축복과 저주들입니다. 이 큰 쇼의 배경은 동쪽으로는 에발산이고 서쪽으로는 그리심산인 두 큰 산 사이 사마리아입니다. 이스라엘 지파들은 이 두 산 사이에 나뉘어졌습니다. 레위인들과 제사장은 이 두 산 사이 계곡에 있었습니다. 이 두 산의 양 쪽에 있는 이스라엘 백성들은 각각 축복과 저주를 선포했습니다. 제게는 토라와 선지서의 이 장들과 그 말씀들이 오늘날 우리에게 아주 큰 의미가 있는 것 같습니다: 1. 이 땅의 예슈아의 유대인 제자들인 저희는 하나님의 본성과 성품의 오직 한 면, 사랑과 은혜와 기쁨만 받아왔고, 모든 것이 선하고 아멘입니다! 그러나 이번 토라 포션에서 우리는 하나님의 은혜는 전능자의 뜻 안에 행하고 살며 그분께서 축복하신 명령을 듣고 순종하며 그분의 뜻을 행하는 사람들에게 살아 역사하고 강건하며 그 기능을 다한다는 것을 발견합니다. 2. 우리는 동쪽 에발산으로부터 오는 두 번째 면, 역시 선포되고 그에 대해 이 민족이 동의하여 아멘이라 말한 저주 측면은 충분히 이해하지 못합니다! 우리는 우리 주 예슈아의 아버지이며 온 인류의 아버지이신, 이스라엘의 전능하신 하나님께서 두 가지 면, 큰 축복의 한 면과 반역하고 불충한 자들에게 큰 저주와 해가 되는 또 다른 면이 있음을 잊어서는 안 됩니다. 신명기와 이사야 본문 사이의 상관관계를 보는 것은 아주 중요합니다. “우리가 오늘 여기에서는 각기 소견대로 하였거니와 너희가 거기에서는 그렇게 하지 말지니라 너희가 너희 하나님 여호와께서 주시는 안식과 기업에 아직은 이르지 못하였거니와” – 신명기 12:8,9 “너희는 귀를 기울이고 내게로 나아와 들으라 그리하면 너희의 영혼이 살리라 내가 너희를 위하여 영원한 언약을 맺으리니 곧 다윗에게 허락한 확실한 은혜이니라 보라 내가 그를 만민에게 증인으로 세웠고 만민의 인도자와 명령자로 삼았나니 보라 네가 알지 못하는 나라를 네가 부를 것이며 너를 알지 못하는 나라가 네게로 달려올 것은 여호와 네 하나님 곧 이스라엘의 거룩하신 이로 말미암음이니라 이는 그가 너를 영화롭게 하였느니라 너희는 여호와를 만날 만한 때에 찾으라 가까이 계실 때에 그를 부르라.” – 이사야 55:3-6 토라 포션 “레에”는 “보라”로 시작하고, 선지서 본문은 우리 모두에게 “들으라”, “귀를 기울이라”, 그러면 너희 영혼이 살고 다윗에게 허락한 은혜를 확보한다고 촉구합니다. 제가 이사야서에서 여러분께 소개한 이 말씀이 아주 중요한 이유는 다윗왕이 정말로 성경 전체에서 제일 큰 죄인 중 하나였기 때문입니다. 다윗왕은 십계명 대부분을 어겼지만, 하나님께서는 그를 사랑하시어 큰 은혜로 용서해 주셨습니다. 이 말씀 안에 이사야가 덧붙인 단어는 작지만 우리에게는 아주 중요합니다: “다윗에게 허락한 확실한 은혜!” 그렇습니다, 친애하는 형제자매님들, 우리는 정말로, 우리를 향한, 우리 각 사람을 향한 주님의 확실한 은혜로 우리 죄가 용서 받았다는 것을 믿는 믿음과 안심이 있습니까? 저는 여러분 한 사람 한 사람이 토라 포션 신명기 11:26~16:17과, 하프타라 이사야 54:11~55:5와, 신약에서는 요한복음 7:37-52을 읽으시리라 확신하며 바랍니다. 요한복음 7장에서 한 말씀 드리자면: “그 중의 한 사람 곧 전에 예수께 왔던 니고데모가 그들에게 말하되…” – 요한복음 7:50 이 니고데모는 요한복음 3장에 언급된, 예루살렘 산헤드린의 한 의원이며 예루살렘에서 가장 부자 중 하나인 바로 그 니고데모입니다. 정직하고 예루살렘 성 주민을 보살피는 마음이 있었던 사람이었고, 예루살렘 주민을 위해 큰 일들을 했던 예슈아의 제자였습니다. 이스라엘 초대수상 다비드(데이비드) 벤-구리온은 그의 이름을 데이비드 그린에서 데이비드 벤-구리온으로 바꿨습니다. 벤-구리온은 니고데모의 풀 네임이었습니다. 벤-구리온은 니고데모와 동일시했으며 일종의 예슈아의 제자였습니다. 그는 예슈아를 사모했고 그리스어(헬라어)로 신약성경을 읽기 위해 그리스어를 배웠습니다. 그는 매일 신약성경을 읽었고 예슈아를 메시아로 믿었습니다. 그의 그리스어 신약성경은 네게브 스데 보케르 키부츠 그의 책상 위에 있습니다.
지난 목요일에 저는 두 번째 눈 수술, 큰 수술인 각막 이식을 받았습니다. 이것은 두어 시간 걸리는 큰 수술이었습니다. 이제 일주일이 지나 저는 이 수술에서 회복 중인데요 느리지만 확실히 나아지고 있습니다.
통증은 날마다 덜해지고 있습니다. 시력은 아직 그다지 분명하지는 않지만 의사가 말하기를 장차 점점 나아질 것이라고 합니다. 이 모든 것은 기적입니다. 저는 다섯 살 때부터 왼쪽 눈이 멀어 지금 일흔다섯 살입니다. 제 왼쪽 눈은 70년 동안 멀어 있었습니다. 지금은 사물을 볼 수 있고 점점 더 나아질 것입니다.

The Jerusalem Prayer List – August 5, 2021

This Shabbat all synagogues around the world read from Deuteronomy 11:26 - 16:17. The name of this Torah portion is Re’eh (“see” or “behold”).
I think that the very first word of this Shabbat’s reading is of great significance for me. Just a week ago I had my second major eye surgery on my left eye. I was blind in my left eye for 70 years. A childhood accident blinded me when I was 5 years old. I had a second surgery on my left (blind) eye. This time the surgery replaced my cornea and now my left eye has everything new, except the ball of the eye and the retina. Now this Shabbat’s reading starts with the words: “Behold [see], I set before you today a blessing and a curse…” – Deuteronomy 11:26 The reading from the prophets is from Isaiah 54:11 - 55:5. Here too the element of healing is very strong, and it has national, geographical, and personal healing and allusions to the new Jerusalem. The prophet Isaiah is addressing Jerusalem and through Jerusalem, all of Israel. The address is with the following words: “O you afflicted one, Tossed with tempest, and not comforted, Behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems, And lay your foundations with sapphires.” – Isaiah 54:11 [NKJV] This is such a wonderful passage of scriptures for Jerusalem and for Israel as a nation, but also for all those who are suffering from affliction, illness, and suffering from abuse, or even from a weak faith and unstable lives. The possibility of the Lord being involved for our restoration, and even much more, just restoration of our past afflicted condition, from ashes to riches, from afflicted and tempest, tossed, to be decked with precious stones, gems, sapphires. I don’t think that the prophet Isaiah was talking only of the physical aspects of precious stones and sapphires. I believe that Isaiah was talking about something much bigger and more precious than the physical jewels. Notice the next verses of Isaiah 54:13-17: “‘All your children shall be taught by the Lord, And great shall be the peace of your children. In righteousness you shall be established; You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; And from terror, for it shall not come near you. Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me. Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake. Behold, I have created the blacksmith Who blows the coals in the fire, Who brings forth an instrument for his work; And I have created the spoiler to destroy. No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,’ Says the Lord.” – Isaiah 54:13-17 [NKJV] The promises of God through Isaiah’s words of prophecy is that our children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the Shalom of our children. I am a student of history and I know more or less the history of Israel from the 8th Century B.C.E. until our own day. There has never been a chapter of our history in which these words of Isaiah the prophet were a reality. If this is really the case, it means that we must still wait and look for the fulfillment of God’s promises in our history, fulfilled in every detail with us, the afflicted nation of Israel, that continues to be afflicted, hated, persecuted, attacked, threatened by enemies that are over 100 times more numerous breathing hate and destruction against Jerusalem and Israel. Zechariah the prophet describes the situation with the following words: “And the Lord said to Satan, ‘The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?’” – Zechariah 3:2 [NKJV] Yes, dear brothers, Jerusalem, the capital of the State of Israel is in fact still a brand plucked from the fire. From the fires of the crematoriums of the Nazi concentration camps. Israel and Jerusalem are still a brand plucked from the fire, although we have a wonderful Israeli army with wonderful soldiers of native born Israelis raised in Israel, as well as immigrants from Africa, and Jewish gauchos from Argentina, and Jewish cowboys from New York, and California, and Texas. We have an army that has Jews, Druze, Muslims, Christians, black, and white, and Chinese Jews, Russian immigrants whose children are winning gold medals at the Olympic stadium in Tokyo. Yes, and the only power that is secure and whose promises are sure and standing on the Rock, are the promises given by the Almighty God of Israel through the prophets. We, the disciples of Yeshua the Messiah in this land have only one anchor to depend on. We as followers of Yeshua, our Savior and the Savior of the world, have only one wall of defense to depend on. The only dependable promises that are dependable and secure are those that God gave to our prophets. We are living as a nation and as a state and following the very map drawn by the words of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, and the rest of the prophets that God blessed this nation with. So, yes, dear brothers and sisters, our afflicted nation, is afflicted from outside by a vast array of enemies, and afflicted from within our own ranks with some leaders who have no faith in God and no trust for the word of God spoken by our prophets, but all together we are the recipients of these words of God that Isaiah has written and spoken so long ago. Some of you are going to see the fulfillment of all that was spoken by Isaiah. You will see Jerusalem flourish and grow and bedecked with the youth, who will be guided and taught by the Lord Himself. Some of you, young generation leaders, will have the privilege of not only waiting for the Lord’s return to Jerusalem, but to see Yeshua coming down with an entourage of millions of angels to land on top of the Mount of Olives. The continuation of the reading of the Torah portion Re’eh has another major important teaching for us! The blessings and the curses. The setting for this great show was in Samaria between two mountains – on the east side, Mount Abel, and on the west side of the valley, Mount Gerizim. The tribes of Israel were divided between these two mountains. The Levites and Priest were in the valley between these two mountains. There was a proclamation of the blessings and the curses from the people of Israel on each side, from each of the two mountains. For me these chapters and words of the Torah and the prophets have such a great meaning for us today: 1. We, the Jewish disciples of Yeshua in this land have been given only one side of God’s nature and character, love, grace, and joy, and everything is good and Amen! However, in this Torah portion we find out that the grace of God is alive and well and functioning in full capacity for those who are walking and living in the will of the Almighty and do His will by hearing and obeying His blessed commands. 2. We don’t get enough of the second side that came from the east side from Mount Ebal, the side of the curses that were proclaimed, and to them also the nation agreed and said Amen! We must not forget that our relationship with the almighty God of Israel, the Father of our Lord Yeshua and the Father of all mankind has two sides to it, a side of great blessings and a side of great curses and damage to those who are rebellious and unfaithful. It is of great importance to see the correlation between the text of Deuteronomy and Isaiah. “You shall not at all do as we are doing here today—every man doing whatever is right in his own eyes— for as yet you have not come to the rest and the inheritance which the Lord your God is giving you.” – Deuteronomy 12:8,9 [NKJV] “Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you— The sure mercies of David. Indeed I have given him as a witness to the people, A leader and commander for the people. Surely you shall call a nation you do not know, And nations who do not know you shall run to you, Because of the Lord your God, And the Holy One of Israel; For He has glorified you. Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.” – Isaiah 55:3-6 [NKJV] The Torah portion Re’eh starts with “look, behold, see”, and this text from the prophets is calling on us all to “hear”, to “incline your ears,” give life to your souls and secure the mercies of David. This last statement that I bring to you from Isaiah the prophet is of great importance, because King David was actually one of the biggest sinners in the whole Bible. King David broke most of the Ten Commandments, and God loved him and forgave him with great mercies. The word that Isaiah adds in this statement is small but of great importance to us: “The sure mercies of David!” Yes, dear brothers and sisters, do we have a real trust and security that our sins are forgiven by the sure mercies of the Lord, for us, for each of us? I sure hope that each one of you will read the Torah portion from Deuteronomy 11:26 - 16:17, and the Haftarah from Isaiah 54:11 - 55:5, and from John’s gospel 7:37-52. Just a word from John chapter 7: “Nicodemus (he who came to Jesus by night, being one of them) said to them…” – John 7:50 [NKJV] This is the same Nicodemus that John mentioned in chapter 3, a member of the Sanhedrin in Jerusalem, one of the richest men in Jerusalem. A man of integrity and care for the citizens of the city of Jerusalem. A disciple of Yeshua that did great things for the citizens of Jerusalem. David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s first Prime Minister changed his name from David Green to David Ben-Gurion. Ben-Gurion was Nicodemus’s full name. Ben-Gurion identified with Nicodemus and was also a kind of disciple of Yeshua. He admired Yeshua and learned Greek to be able to read the New Testament in Greek. He did read it every day and he did believe in Yeshua as the Messiah. His Greek New Testament is in Kibbutz Sde Boker in the Negev, right on his desk.
Last Thursday, I had the second major eye surgery, a cornea transplant. It was a big surgery lasting a couple of hours. Now a week later I am recovering from this surgery and slowly but surely I am getting better.
The pain is less from day to day, and although my sight is still not so clear the doctor said that it is going to get better in the future. This whole thing is a miracle. I was blind in my left eye from the age of 5, and now I am 75 years old. 70 years I was blind with my left eye. Now I can see something and it will get better.
Thank you for your prayers and moral support to go through with this suggestion of the doctors. They didn’t hide the fact that they desired to do this surgery because they could write some interesting medical papers of restoring the sight of an eye that was blind for 70 years.
Please keep praying for me, and Marcia my wife. Israel is again fallen with the Delta virus of the coronavirus, and we are getting the third shot of the Pfizer vaccine. I received my third shot and Marcia, the Lord willing, will receive her third shot on Sunday afternoon. Keep both of us in your prayers, and especially Marcia.
Our dear friend Mahmud’s sister Gouzlan is very sick and I ask you to pray for Gouzlan and also for Maria Mahmud’s daughter who is getting married in Bulgaria in a few weeks.
Also I have been asked to add the mother of Rebekka our dear sister in our prayers. Pray for Livia Schnell Nothen and for Guilherme Antonio Nothen Becker. Guilherme is in serious health condition. We are also praying for Artuza de Oliveira a dear sister in Brazil.

Please pray for Israel and pray for the new government to have enough courage and wisdom to know how to apply everything that is good and holy and righteous for us in Israel and for our Arab neighbors.
COVID-19 has the new mutation D+ that is spreading in Israel and the government is trying to bring back the restrictions and the closures. Israel like the rest of our world is in need of great help from our Lord.
Our dear brother Jair is out of the hospital in in Curitiba, Brazil, at home and recovering from COVID-19 at home.
Pray and support Netivyah during these very hard times, for opportunities to do good and to bless and feed and support the population of Israel, those in need whose number has increased by many percentage points during these difficult days in Israel.
The needs of Netivyah for more staff to be able to keep up with the amount of work and the challenges that take both time and money, and to keep up with the needs and the opportunities that God is putting in front of Netivyah.
Sarit our dear sister is out of the hospital and in a convalescent home for a few weeks.
We have many dear brothers and sisters in both India and Brazil who are still very much in serious trouble with the coronavirus situation and need our prayers. We need to continue to pray for India and Brazil and especially for our dear brothers and sisters in these two countries.
I received a special prayer request from our dear brother Isaac in Chennai, India. Brother Isaac asked us to pray especially for sister Sheela Stephen. Sister Sheela’s lungs are in serious need of oxygen and right now oxygen is hard to find for coronavirus patients.

The Hamotzi food program is restarting with mostly new candidates provided by the city of Jerusalem. Our goal is to simply bless the needy of Jerusalem and make sure that those families with many children and old people, and single mothers, and others, both Jews and a few Arab families, have something fresh and good and healthy to eat. We need your prayers and your help to make this important purely humanitarian service possible. We are following the instruction of Paul in Romans 15:24-27.

We have received many letters of gratitude and praise for our scholarship fund through which we support more than 40 Israeli disciples of Yeshua who are students in Israel’s fine academic institutions and universities.
We will have to cut the number of scholarships that we can give this year to disciples of Yeshua who are going to universities in Israel. This program has been blessing Israeli students for nearly 30 years, and last year we had the biggest number of scholarships, 43 students who are active in their congregations throughout the country receive near a full tuition scholarship from Netivyah.
It is sad that we will have to cut back from 43 to 20 scholarships. I ask you to pray for this Netivyah project because it is an investment into the future of the disciples of Yeshua in this land. Each student’s scholarships is 2400 dollars per year.
It does not seem so much if we have the money to give for these scholarships, but if we don’t have the funds we can’t give the scholarships. I want to challenge our brothers and sisters around the world to pick up one or more scholarship for a student in the universities of Israel. If possible and the donor desires and the student would agree, we could introduce them by mail.
The gratitude and appreciation of these students is such an encouragement and refreshing hope for the future generation of Jewish Disciples of Yeshua in this land. Netivyah has been doing this for longer than 30 years and we have generations of students from all of Israel and from most of the Messianic congregations in Israel.
For a season we had a special fund to support Arab Christian medical students and we have supported dozens of Arab Christians from the Galilee with their medical school studies. It is a great program that Netivyah started many years ago and the fruit of these scholarships has produced lawyers and doctors and pharmacists, nurses…
We need your prayers and your support to be able to continue this wonderful work of creating the next generation of disciples of Yeshua in this God-given land of Israel.

From Chennai, India, please remember Pastor Isaac. Pastor Isaac is an older man with severe kidney problems and has to have dialysis several times per week. I have just received a prayer request from a dear sister from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her father who is 70 years old and diabetic has contracted the COVID-19 virus. His name is Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias.

Please keep in your prayers a dear sister who attends our congregation in Jerusalem. Her name is Hadassah and she just had cancer surgery. Pray for Hadassah for a full recovery and remission from any cancer in her body.
Pray for Israel. We are going through terrible riots and violence in the streets of Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv and other places around the country. These riots are motivated by the fact that much of the populace of Israel does not understand what the government is doing in relationship to the coronavirus pandemic.
I would like a new prayer request for a dear brother Yehuda Hochman who lives in the Negev Desert. Yehuda has to receive Dialysis treatment several times per week.

Please pray for our two grandchildren. They are both graduating in a few weeks from high school. They are both facing this important change in their lives. Noam our granddaughter also had her 18th birthday on May 1st. This was a very big day for Noam. She is free from high school and also from other obligations and is privileged to make her own decisions and choices in life. Pray for Noam on this major crossroad of life for her and ask the Lord to bless Noam and to give her clear direction and guidance for what is good and right and holy in her life.
Both Noam and Joseph, our two grandchildren, are extremely talented and good students. Both are “A” students and excellent young people, but both need divine protection and guidance to make good and smart and right choices for life.
When I was 18 years old and cut off from my family because of my faith in the Messiah, I had no one on my side and no one to guide me. The Lord’s providential leading and guidance was the only guide that I had. I praise the Lord for His goodness and direction in my life.
I pray that both Joseph and Noam will have such divine strength and vision for their own future that only right and good choices will be their gift from the Almighty God of Israel and Yeshua our Lord.
I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish! The best is yet to come!
