이번 안식일 토라 포션은 “보!(오라!)”라고 부르며 출애굽기 10:1~13:15입니다.
선지서에서 읽는 말씀은 예레미야 46:13-28입니다.
신약성경에서 읽는 말씀은 누가복음 22:7-30과 고린도전서 11:20–34입니다.

이들 성경 본문을 살펴보기 전에, 제가 요즈음 이스라엘 상황에 대해 나누는 것을 용서해 주시기 바랍니다. 이스라엘은, 도덕이라고는 없고 유대인 전반과 특히 이스라엘 내 유대인에 대한 악마적 증오를 가진 매우 잔인하고 가학적인 적과 전쟁해왔습니다.

이스라엘은 104일 동안 두 개 전선에서 전쟁을 하고 있습니다. 남쪽에서는 냉혹하고 잔인하고 가학적인 변태 하마스와 전쟁을 하고 있습니다. 하마스는 페르시아, 이란입니다. 그들은 이란의 지원을 받아 훈련되고 부추겨지고 동기 부여되고 있습니다. 그들은 이란의 대리자이며 이란에 의해 무장되고 적어도 부분적으로 재정지원을 받고 있습니다.

북쪽에서는 헤즈볼라와 전쟁을 하고 있는데요, 헤즈볼라 역시 이란의 대리자입니다. 이스라엘은 도덕이 없고 이란에 의해 훈련되고 무장된 무자비하고 잔인한 적들과 싸우고 있습니다. 하마스도 헤즈볼라도 완전히 이란의 통제를 받고 부추겨지고 재정지원을 받습니다.

이스라엘과 네티비야와 슐람 가족은 여러분의 기도가 필요합니다. 저희는 온 이스라엘과 이스라엘 정부가 현재 전쟁 중에 그리고 사람이 판 150피트 깊이나 되는 터널 속에 끔찍한 상황에 포로로 잡혀 있는 136명의 인질의 석방을 위해 현명하게 결정하도록 여러분의 기도가 필요합니다. 사람이 판 100마일 이상의 1층 이상 지하 터널이 도처에 있습니다. 하마스 지도부와 군지휘본부와 고문실들도 모두 수 마일 깊이의 어두운 지하터널에 있고, 그들은 이스라엘 유대인 인질들을 그곳에 가두어두고 있습니다. 일부는 반복적으로 성폭행을 당하고 종종 살해당합니다.

제 아내 마르시아와 저를 위해서 기도해 주시기 바랍니다. 저는 가슴과 다른 내부 장기에 과도히 커진 림프절 몇 개의 생검을 받았습니다.

토라 포션 “보”는 히브리어 “보”, “오라”라는 단어로 시작됩니다. 일반적으로 여러분이 누군가를 밖으로 내보낼 때 여러분은 “오라!”가 아니라, “가라!”라고 말합니다.

이 히브리어는 이중의 의미가 있습니다. “가서 바로를 만나라” 뿐만 아니라 “바로의 안으로 가라!”라는 뜻도 됩니다. 본문에서 주께서 모세를 바로에게 보내어 이 애굽 통치자에게 이스라엘 자손을 종살이에서 풀어주어 그들이 자유롭게 가나안땅으로 가도록 요구하고 계신 것이 분명합니다. 토라 포션 “보”는 출애굽기 10장 1절로 시작되지만 제게는 2절이 흥미롭습니다.

“여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 바로에게로 들어가라 내가 그의 마음과 그의 신하들의 마음을 완강하게 함은 나의 표징을 그들 중에 보이기 위함이며 네게 내가 애굽에서 행한 일들 곧 내가 그들 가운데에서 행한 표징을 네 아들과 네 자손의 귀에 전하기 위함이라 너희는 내가 여호와인 줄을 알리라”

이 본문에서 제게 흥미로운 점은 주께서 우리에게 그분께서 왜, 무슨 연유로 애굽에 이 재앙들을 사용하셨는지를 말씀하고 계신 점입니다. 하나님께서는 바로와 애굽인들 앞에, 그리고 이스라엘 앞에서도 누가 우두머리인지 보이시기 위해 그분 자신을 광고하시고 공표하는 일에 관심을 두고 계셨습니다. “내가 그들 가운데에서 행한 표징을 네 아들과 네 자손의 귀에 전하기 위함이라 너희는 내가 여호와인 줄을 알리라” 저는 출애굽기 서두의 장들에서 하나님께서 양측에 그분께서 다스리고 계심을 보이시기 위해 비상하고 특별한 표징과 재앙을 사용하고 계신 것에 놀았습니다. 처음 재앙들은 애굽 사람들의 신체를 건드리지 않았습니다. 나일강이 피로 변했고, 하나님께서는 가축들에 해를 입히셨습니다. 그런 다음, 재앙은 사람들에게로 옮겨갔습니다. 메뚜기 재앙은 애굽 토지와 농작물에 영향을 미쳤는데요, 거기서 재앙들은 애굽 사람들에게 해를 끼치는 방향으로 진전했습니다.

재앙들에서 가장 흥미로운 국면 중 하나는 애굽 사람들은 그것들로 인해 고초를 겪으나, 이 재앙들이 이스라엘 사람들은 건드리지 않았다는 점입니다. 이 재앙들은 자연 재앙이 아니라 특별히 애굽 사람들을 겨냥한 것으로 이스라엘 사람들은 건드리지 않고 애굽 사람들만 건드린 재앙이었다는 점이 큰 표징입니다.

저는 일반적으로 그다지 인식되지 않는 하나님의 능력에 대해 몇 가지 배웠습니다. 이러한 것은 예슈아의 제자들이 알아야 할 아주 중요한 교훈입니다.

하나님에 대한 믿음을 정립하기 위해 하나님께서는 특정 그룹의 사람들을 겨냥해 재앙을 내리시되, 주변에 있는 사람들은 영향을 받지 않게 하실 수 있으십니다. 하나님께서 이 땅에서 어떻게 역사하시는지 이해하는 것은 중요합니다.

이스라엘 자손은 마른 땅을 걸어 홍해를 건넜습니다. 몇 시간 후에 바로 그 홍해는 바로의 군대에게는 죽음의 덫이 되었습니다. 온 애굽은 흑암에 싸였지만, 이스라엘 자손에게는 빛이 있었습니다.

이것은 여러분에게 주(여호와)께서 자연의 모든 힘, 해와 달과 별들을 다스리심을 상기시킵니다. 마지막 때에 대한 우리의 질문은 하나님께서 그것을 어떻게 하실 것인가가 아니라 낮에 해가 비추지도 않으면서 어떻게 빛이 있을 것인가입니다. “나는 이유를 질문할 일이 아니라 행하고 죽어야 할 일이다!”[1] 다음은 마지막 때에 대한 이사야서 말씀입니다:

“다시는 강포한 일이 네 땅에 들리지 않을 것이요 황폐와 파멸이 네 국경 안에 다시 없을 것이며 네가 네 성벽을 구원이라, 네 성문을 찬송이라 부를 것이라 다시는 낮에 해가 네 빛이 되지 아니하며 달도 네게 빛을 비추지 않을 것이요 오직 여호와가 네게 영원한 빛이 되며 네 하나님이 네 영광이 되리니 다시는 네 해가 지지 아니하며 네 달이 물러가지 아니할 것은 여호와가 네 영원한 빛이 되고 네 슬픔의 날이 끝날 것임이라 네 백성이 다 의롭게 되어 영원히 땅을 차지하리니 그들은 내가 심은 가지요 내가 손으로 만든 것으로서 나의 영광을 나타낼 것인즉” (이사야 60:18–21)

저는 이사야서에서 대격변이 일어난 후 이 세상의 마지막 장들을 묘사하는 이 구절을 가져온 것입니다. 오늘 흥미로운 부분은 “다시는 강포한 일이 네 땅에 들리지 않을 것이요”라고 예언하는 이사야 60장 18절입니다. 히브리어로 강포라는 단어는 하마스입니다! 그렇습니다, 이 끔찍하고 비인간적인 잔인함과 짐승같은 행위를 하는 자들의 이름과 같은 단어입니다.

이번 안식일 토라 포션에는 예슈아의 제자들과 유대인들이 잊어버린 이러한 것들 중 또 다른 중요한 사실을 상기시켜 주는 내용이 있습니다. 그렇습니다, 우리는 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱과 이스라엘의 하나님이신 우리 하나님께서는 모든 민족의 하나님이시기도 하다는 것을 잊어버렸습니다. 열방은 이것을 알지 못할지도, 이 세상과 이 세상 안에 있는 모든 것을 지으신 참된 한 분 하나님을 인식하지 못할 수도 있습니다. 여기에는 아랍 사람들도 포함됩니다. 하나님께서는 그들의 마음에 무엇이 있는지도 아십니다. 다음은 이번 안식일 토라 포션 중 아주 흥미로운 구절입니다:

“그러나 여호와께서 바로의 마음을 완악하게 하셨으므로 이스라엘 자손을 보내지 아니하였더라” (출애굽기 10:20)

출애굽 이야기에는 “여호와께서 바로의 마음을 완악하게 하셨다”는 문구가 13회 나옵니다. 이 문구는 저를 난감하게 만드는 데요, 어쩌면 여러분에게도 그러할 것입니다. 대부분의 경우, 하나님께서는 바로가 거래를 좀 하거나 양보를 하고자 하려 할 때마다 바로의 마음을 완악하게 하셨습니다. 출애굽 이야기에서 하나님께서 사용하고 계신 신묘한 전술에서 무엇을 배울 수 있을까요?

1. 하나님께서는 미리 계획된 상세한 프로그램이 있는 종합계획을 가지고 그분의 뜻을 행하시고 그분의 계획이 작동하게 하십니다. 출애굽 이야기에서 하나님께서 바로의 마음을 완악하게 하시어 그가 모세와 이스라엘 자손을 애굽의 종살이에서 풀어주지 않은 것이 13회라는 것을 분명히 볼 수 있습니다.

2. 출애굽 이야기는 한 가지 주요 주제를 다룹니다. 즉, 누가 자연과, 사람들의 마음과, 왕의 마음(이 경우에는 애굽의 통치자 바로)을 다스리는가를 다룹니다. 성경에는 “하나님께서 마음을 완악하게 하셨다”는 것이 73회 나오고, “하나님께서 바로의 마음을 무겁게 하셨다”는 것이 32회 나옵니다. 하나님께서 그분의 프로그램과 계획을 성공시키기 위해 사용하시는 통치자들, 왕들, 사람들에 대하여 이러한 것에서 우리는 무엇을 배울 수 있습니까? 그 프로그램은 언제나 그분의 백성을 구하고 그분의 이름에 영광을 돌리는 것으로 완수됩니다!

3. 이번 안식일 토라 포션에서 하나님께서는 자연과 빛과 어둠을 완전히 다스리심을 보여주시기도 하십니다. 그분께서는 애굽 사람들의 머리의 이와 떼로 몰려와 하늘을 덮고 애굽땅의 풀들을 먹어치우는 메뚜기같은 작은 동물들까지도 다스리십니다.

4. 마지막으로 제가 이번 토라 포션에서 배운 점은 재앙이 아니라 사람들에 관한 것입니다. 모세와 아론은 하나님을 이해하지 못하고 여기서 무슨 일이 일어나고 있는지 의아해 합니다. 모세와 아론은 이해는 못했지만 막판을 믿었습니다. 그들은 하나님께서 결국에는 성공할 것을 믿었는데요, 왜냐하면 하나님께서 시내산 불붙은 떨기나무에서 모세를 처음 만나셨을 때 이것을 모세에게 예언하셨기 때문입니다. 하나님께서 어떻게 바로를 몰아가 애굽을 건설하고 있던 이 종들을 풀어놓게 하실지를 말입니다.

이번 안식일 토라 포션에는 유월절 이야기와 위대한 구원, 해방, 자유의 이야기인 실제 출발, 출애굽이 있습니다. 이 해방은 가족을 기반으로 한 수백만 노예 민족의 해방입니다. 유월절 밤 유월절 식사 때 드러나듯이 하나님의 계획은 문제 많은 씨쪽 집단을 나라로 만드는 것입니다.

그래서 하나님께서는 이스라엘 자손에게 첫째 그분께서 자연을 다스리실 수 있음을 보여주셨고, 둘째 왕들의 권력을 통제하시고 그들의 길을 지시하실 수 있음을 보여주셨습니다. 우리 순박한 사람들, 하나님과 사람들을 기꺼이 섬기고자 하는 우리는 어떻습니까? 우리는 하나님의 눈과 마음의 대상이며 초점입니다.

제가 결코 놓치거나 잊지 말아야 하는 한 가지가 더 있습니다. 하나님께서는 그분이 세상을 너무 사랑하셔서 그분의 아들 예슈아를 세상의 구원자로 계획하시고 주셨습니다. 화룡점정은, 예슈아께서는 일종의 모세 같은 분이기도 하십니다. 그분께서는 하나님의 사자이시기도 하고 한 민족만 아니라 온 세상의 구원을 위한 하나님의 계획의 최종 목적이시기도 합니다. 이 때문에 유월절은 온 세상의 다른 형태의 종살이로부터 구원과 구속의 절기가 된 것입니다.

이 연구의 마지막 사항은 제가 여러분 모두에게 실제로 가서 토라 포션과 선지서 포션을 읽고 무엇보다 무지개 저 너머에 이 세상을 다스리시는 분, 세상을 지으시고 아무도 지옥에서 고통당하지 않고 모두 구원받고, 해방되고, 하나님의 도움과 순종으로 이기기를 원하시는 분이 계시다는 것을 아시라고 격려하고자 하는 것입니다.

성경을 읽으시고 그 이야기 속 인물이 되십시오! 유월절 기념은 1회성 사건이 아닙니다. 이것은 우리 각 사람, 우리 가족, 우리 족속, 우리 민족이 지속적으로 기념하는 것입니다. 이스라엘 자손을 애굽에서 데리고 나오신 바로 그 하나님께서 아직도 그분의 자녀를 구원하고, 해방하고, 축복하고, 인도하고 계십니다.

지금 우리는 인생 광야 40년 유랑생활 중일지도 모르겠습니다. 그러나 인생 광야에서도 하나님의 말씀을 따라 하나님의 성막을 지은 모든 사람에게는 약속의 땅이 우리 모두를 기다리고 있습니다! 오늘날 이스라엘같이 강포나 하마스, 증오, 적의가 없는 예루살렘 말입니다. 빛의 아들들과 어둠의 자녀 사이의 전쟁과 고통의 날들인 요즈음 여러분은 야고보가 사도행전 15:12-17에서 말한 다윗의 무너진 장막을 다시 지어 일으키는 일의 일부가 되고자 한다는 것을 기억하십시오:

“온 무리가 가만히 있어 바나바와 바울이 하나님께서 자기들로 말미암아 이방인 중에서 행하신 표적과 기사에 관하여 말하는 것을 듣더니 말을 마치매 야고보가 대답하여 이르되 형제들아 내 말을 들으라 하나님이 처음으로 이방인 중에서 자기 이름을 위할 백성을 취하시려고 그들을 돌보신 것을 시므온이 말하였으니 선지자들의 말씀이 이와 일치하도다 기록된 바 이 후에 내가 돌아와서 다윗의 무너진 장막을 다시 지으며 또 그 허물어진 것을 다시 지어 일으키리니 이는 그 남은 사람들과 내 이름으로 일컬음을 받는 모든 이방인들로 주를 찾게 하려 함이라 하셨으니” (사도행전 15:12–17)

전 세계에 계시는 친애하는 형제자매님들, 주께서 네티비야를 사용하셔서 이스라엘 네티비야와 네티비야 인터내셔널을 통해 비상한 일을 행하고 계심을 기억해 주시기 바랍니다. 하나님께서는 기적과 사건과 봉사를 사용하여 병사들에게 그들에게 필요한 현대식 헬멧, 적의 탄알을 막아낼 세라믹 판을 장착한 방탄조끼, 날면서 건물 뒤편이나 지붕에 누가 숨어 있는지 볼 수 있는 군사용 드론 같은 온갖 전술 장비를 건네주었습니다. 특별 식사와 이 겨울에 눈 덮인 헤르몬산 꼭대기에 있거나 비오는 날 가자지구에 있는 군복 입은 우리 병사들을 따뜻하게 지켜줄 다른 종류의 장비도 건네주었습니다.

빛의 아들들이 어둠의 아들들과 싸우는 이 전쟁에서 동역자가 될 수 있는 이 특별한 기회에 동참하시기 바랍니다. 여러분이 와서 네티비야를 통해 직접 가자지구와 갈릴리 상부 전선에 있는 병사들을 섬길 수는 없지만, 재정적으로, 가자지구 전장과 이스라엘 북부 시리아와 레바논 국경 전장에 있는 우리 병사들을 위한 크고 작은 선물로 기여하실 수 있습니다.

하마스와의 전쟁이 조속히 끝나고 모든 인질들이 안전하고 온전하게 그들의 사랑하는 가족에게로 돌아오도록 심각한 기도를 계속해 주십시오!

저희 병사들을 위해서, 특히 우리가 알고 귀히 여기는 병사들을 위해서 기도해 주십시오: 유다, 빅터와 아얄라의 아들 에마누엘, 아미엘·솔로몬·에제카이엘 인트레이터, 루우벤·클릴 코브너, 그 외 믿는 이들의 자녀들, 또한 이 나라를 위해 복무 중인 모든 남녀.

저는 아직 군복무 중이거나 대부분 예비군인 저희 회중의 자녀들이 맹목적인 증오가 원동력인 테러주의자들로부터 이스라엘 민간인들을 보호하기 위해 무기를 들고 전쟁에 나가 싸워야 하는 것이 정말 싫습니다.

중동과 세계를 위해 여기 이 지역에서 무엇이 사실인지 보고 알도록 기도해 주시기 바랍니다. 다윗왕과 선지자들과 메시아 예슈아를 내놓은 이 땅은 저희 이웃들과의 평화를 원합니다.

그러나 그들은 평화를 위해 내민 손을 외면합니다. 그들은 유대인들을 죽이고, 지금 번성하며 전 세계에 복이 되고 있는 이 땅을 빼앗아 가자지구와 아랍국가들에 있는 그들의 정착지들처럼 쓰레기장으로 만들고자 합니다.

하나님의 은혜와, 치유와 힘을 주시는 하나님의 부드러운 손길이 필요한 예루살렘의 다음 형제자매님들을 위해 기도해 주십시오.

예루살렘 태생의 88세가 넘으신 사리트 자매님은 혼자 살고 계십니다. 가까운 가족이 없고 여러 가지 노인 질환을 앓고 계십니다.

제 아내 마르시아 슐람을 위해 계속 기도해 주시기 바랍니다. 마르시아의 기억력이 더 이상 약해지지 않도록, 관절염이 나아 재발하지 않도록, 기력이 회복되어 스스로를 돌볼 수 있도록 기도해 주십시오.

The Jerusalem Prayer List – January 18, 2024

The Torah reading this Shabbat is called Bo! = “Come”, Exodus 10:1 – 13:15.
From the Prophets, the reading is from Jeremiah 46:13-28.
From the New Testament, the reading is from Luke 22:7-30 and 1 Corinthians 11:20 – 34.

Before I go into the Biblical texts, please forgive me for sharing about the situation of Israel these days. Israel has been at war with a very cruel and sadistic enemy that has no morals and has demonic hate against Jews in general and against Jews in Israel.

Israel has been at war for 104 days on two fronts, in the South with Hamas, a heartless, cruel, sadistic pervert. The Hamas is Persia, Iran. They are supported, trained, inspired, and motivated by Iran. They are a proxy of Iran and armed and financed at least partially by Iran.

In the North, the war is with Hezbollah, also a proxy of Iran. Israel is fighting ruthless and cruel enemies that have no morals, and they are trained and armed by Iran. Both Hamas and Hezbollah are totally under Iranian control, inspiration, and finance.

Israel, Netivyah, and the Shulam family need your prayers. We need your prayers for all of Israel and for the Israeli government to be wise and make decisions that are for now in the middle of the war and also for the release of the 136 hostages held under horrible conditions in deep man-made tunnels that can be as deep as 150 feet. There are more than 100 US miles of man-made tunnels under the ground everywhere and on more than one level. The Hamas leadership and military headquarters and their torture chambers are all underground in the miles and miles of deep dark tunnels where they are keeping the Israeli-Jewish Hostages. Some are sexually abused repeatedly and often murdered.

Please pray for Marcia, my wife, and for me, too. I had a biopsy of several overgrown lymph nodes in my chest and other internal parts.

The Torah portion Bo starts with the Hebrew word Bo, “Come.” – Normally speaking, when you send someone out, you say to him “Go,” not “Come!”

The Hebrew has a double meaning. Not only “Go see Pharaoh,” but “Go inside of Pharaoh!” It is clear from the text that the Lord sent Moses to Pharaoh to demand the Egyptian ruler release the children of Israel from their slavery and let them go free to the land of Canaan! The Torah portion of Bo starts with Exodus chapter 10:1, but verse 2 fascinates me.

“Go into Pharaoh; for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his servants, that I may show these signs of Mine before him, and that you may tell in the hearing of your son and your son’s son the mighty things I have done in Egypt, and My signs which I have done among them, that you may know that I am the LORD.”

What fascinates me in this text is that the Lord tells us why and for what reason He is using these plagues on Egypt. God was interested in advertising and publicizing HIMSELF before Pharaoh and the Egyptians and also before Israel to show them who is the BOSS, “My signs which I have done among them, that you may know that I am the LORD!” I was surprised that in the first chapters of Exodus, God uses unusual and special signs and plagues to show both sides that God is in charge. The first plagues didn’t touch the people of Egypt in their bodies. The Nile River turned into blood. God damaged the animals. Then, the plagues moved on to the people with the plague of locusts that affected the Egyptians’ land and agriculture. From there, the plagues progressed to damage the people of Egypt themselves.

One of the most fascinating aspects of the Plagues is that the Egyptians suffered from them, and these Plagues didn’t touch the Israelites. This is a major sign that these were not natural plagues but ones that were specifically aimed at and touched the Egyptians and not the Israelites.

I learned things about the Power of God that are not so commonly recognized. These are very important lessons for the disciples of Yeshua to understand.

To build trust in God, He can aim the plagues against specific groups of people, and others on the sidelines will not be affected. This is important for understanding how God works on this Earth.

The children of Israel walked on dry ground, crossing the Red (reed) sea. Hours later, the same Red Sea became a death trap for the armies of the Pharaoh. All Egypt was in Darkness, and the children of Israel had light.

This reminds you that the LORD controls all forces of nature: the Sun, the Moon, and the Stars. Our question for the end times is not How God Will do it and How there will be light without the Sun shining by day. “It is not for me to ask why but to do and die!”[i] These are the words of Isaiah about the end times:

“Violence shall no longer be heard in your land, Neither wasting nor destruction within your borders; But you shall call your walls Salvation, And your gates Praise. “The sun shall no longer be your light by day, Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; But the LORD will be to you an everlasting light, And your God your glory. Your sun shall no longer go down, Nor shall your moon withdraw itself; For the LORD will be your everlasting light, And the days of your mourning shall be ended. Also your people shall all be righteous; They shall inherit the land forever, The branch of My planting, The work of My hands, That I may be glorified.” (Isaiah 60:18–21 NKJV)

I am bringing these verses from Isaiah the Prophet that describe the end chapters of this world after the cosmic changes take place. The interesting part for today is Isaiah 60:18, which predicts that “Violence shall no longer be heard in your (our) land!” The word violence in Hebrew is Hamas! Yes, the same word as the name of this horrible, inhuman cruelty and beastly behavior.

In our Torah reading this Shabbat, we have a major reminder of another of these things that the disciples of Yeshua and the Jewish people forget. Yes, we forget that God, our God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Israel, is also the God of all the nations. These nations might not know this or recognize the One True God who created this universe and all that is in this universe. This includes the Arabs, and He even knows what is their hearts. This very interesting text in our Torah reading this Shabbat:

“But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not let the children of Israel go.” (Exodus 10:20 NKJV).

The phrase “The LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart” appears 13 times in the story of the Exodus. The phrase puzzles me and may be for you, too. Most of the time, when God hardened Pharaoh’s heart when Pharaoh was willing to make some deal or concession, God hardened his heart. What can I learn from these divine tactics that God is using in the Exodus story?

1. God has a master plan with all detailed pre-planning and a program to execute His will and make His plan work. It is clearly seen in the 13 times in the story of the Exodus that God hardens the heart of Pharaoh to keep him from releasing Moses and the children of Israel from Egyptian Slavery.

2. The story of Exodus is about one major topic – Who is in control of Nature, and people’s hearts, and the heart of the King (in this case, Pharaoh, the great ruler of Egypt) 73 times in the Bible “God hardened a heart and 32 times God made Pharaoh’s heart heavy. What can we learn from this about rulers, kings, and people God uses to make His program and plan succeed? The program always comes through to save His people and bring glory to His name!

3. In our reading this Shabbat, God also demonstrates His full control of nature, light, and darkness. He controlled the small animals like the lice on the heads of the Egyptians and also the locusts who came in hordes that covered the sky and devoured the green in the land of Egypt.

4. The last point I learned from this Torah portion concerns the people, not the plagues. Moses and Aaron don’t understand God and wonder what is happening here! Moses and Aaron didn’t understand but believed in the end game. They knew that God would succeed in the end because God predicted this to Moses in his first encounter in Mount Sinai and the burning bush. The how was God driving Pharaoh to release the slaves that were building His Egypt.

In our Torah reading this Shabbat is the Passover story and the actual departure that is the greater story of deliverance, emancipation, and liberation—the liberation of a national family-based group of millions of liberated slaves. God’s plan, as revealed in the Passover night and the Passover meal, is to take a problematic tribal group and make a nation out of them.

So, God showed the children of Israel first that He can control nature, and second, He can control the powers of kings and direct their ways. What about us, the simple folk? We who are willing to serve God and men? We are the objective and the focus of God’s eyes and heart.

One more point that I must never miss or forget. God loves His world so much that He has planned and given His Son Yeshua to be the world’s savior. Now, just to put the Cherry on top of the cream – Yeshua is also a kind of Moses. He is both a Messenger of God and a conclusive object of God’s plan for the salvation of not only one nation but the whole world. This is why the Passover becomes the feast of salvation and redemption from the different forms of slavery for the entire world.

The last point of this study is that I encourage all of you to actually go and read the Torah portion and from the Prophets and above all, know that there is Someone, far, far away beyond the rainbow, that rules this world. A world that He created and seeks that no one will suffer in Hell and everyone can be saved, delivered, and overcome with God’s help and obedience!

READ the Book and become a character in the story! The celebration of the Passover is not only a one-time moment. It is a continuous celebration for each of us, our families, our tribe, and our nations. The same God that took the children of Israel from Egypt is still saving, delivering, blessing, and leading His Children.

Right now, we might be in the 40 years of wandering through the deserts of life. But for all who follow and build God’s Tabernacle, even in the wilderness of life, there is a promised land waiting for us all! A Jerusalem without violence or Hamas and hate and animosity like Israel is today. In these days of war and suffering, a battle between the sons of light against the children of darkness – remember that you want to have a part in the rebuilding of the fallen tabernacle of David, which James talks about in Acts 15: 12-17:

“Then all the multitude kept silent and listened to Barnabas and Paul declaring how many miracles and wonders God had worked through them among the Gentiles. And after they had become silent, James answered, saying, “Men and brethren, listen to me: Simon has declared how God at the first visited the Gentiles to take out of them a people for His name. And with this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is written: “After this I will return And will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; I will rebuild its ruins, And I will set it up; So that the rest of mankind may seek the LORD, Even all the Gentiles who are called by My name, Says the LORD who does all these things.’” (Acts 15:12–17 NKJV)

You can’t come and physically serve through Netivyah, the men on the front lines in Gaza and the upper Galilee. But you can contribute financially, big or small gifts for our men in the battlefields of Gaza and the northern borders of Israel with Syria and Lebanon.

You can donate in Netivyah in Israel if you don’t need US IRS documents for your taxes.

Now, Netivyah International (Netivyah USA) is also a pioneering organization with upcoming publishing, teaching, and evangelizing projects. One project will concentrate on helping and building up the worldwide campaign for the restoration of the Anussim, the Jewish victims of the Catholic Inquisition, restoring them home both physically and spiritually. Netivyah International also promotes the effort to serve our men on the front lines in Israel.

You can contribute through Netivyah International by supporting the existing projects in Netivyah Israel and our New Projects in 2024. Netivyah International is a registered 501(c)3 organization. The 2023 year-end tax letters and emails will be mailed out on the 31st of January 2024 for donations that were made using the Netivyah USA buttons or done via cheque mailed to PO Box 1387, Mount Juliet, TN 37122 USA.

Every contribution you make to Netivyah International will always go to the place and project where you mark your contributions. All your contributions earmarked for projects in Israel will go to Israel, for projects like the HaMotzi food program, scholarships for students who study in the Universities and academic institutions in Israel, working with the youth, covering travel expenses, and special gifts for our soldiers for the holidays( a project that has been a great blessing and a source of inspiration and assurance that they are not alone but have a community of Jewish Disciples of Yeshua that is standing with them.)

Your prayers for brothers and sisters whom you don’t know personally is a pure love and pure building of the Body of the Messiah. It is really Agape Love since you are doing this without any selfish interests and casting a vote in heaven for someone who is your brother but you don’t know him or her, and God looks at these prayers that are unselfish and true expression of love and care for another link in the long chain of love and faith that binds us together even though we might not know each other in this world. When we all get to heaven what a joy it will be to meet people that we prayed for and sometime even cried for brothers and sisters who are physically strangers, but spiritually a part of the same body of Christ that one day we will have the privilege to seat together and share: “I remember praying for you to be healed!” “I remember praying for you to be safe when you were fighting in Gaza to free the hostages from the cruel hands of the terrorists of the Hamas in Gaza.

Continue serious prayers for our war with Hamas to end soon and all the hostages to be returned safe and in one piece home to their loved ones!

Pray for our soldiers and especially for the soldiers that we know and appreciate: Yuda, Emanuel the son of Victor and Ayala, Amiel and Solomon and Ezekiel Intrater, Reuven and Clil Kovner, and any other children of Believers and of course for all of the men and women serving this country.

I hate that our boys, the men of our congregation, still serve in the Army and most of them in reserves have to fight and use weapons and do war to protect the civilian population of Israel from terrorism driven by hate and blindness.

Please pray for the Middle East and for the world to see and understand what the reality is here in this part of the world. The lands that provided King David, the prophets, and Yeshua the Messiah – want peace with our neighbors.

But they don’t want the hand that is stretched out in peace. They want to kill all the Jews and take their land, which is flourishing and a blessing for all the world, and make it a dump like their own place in Gaza and in the Arab countries.

In Jerusalem pray for the following brothers and sisters who need divine grace and the gentle touch of the hand of God for healing and strength.

New Batya Segal is coping with treatments for lymphoma. Please pray for her to be free of pain and free from fatigue. Restoration of her health and freedom from cancer.

Ilana Ahijervie, a dear sister who is 98 years old and suffering from memory problems.

Please pray for our dear sister Lea Kurkey.

Sarit, a sister born in Jerusalem, over 88 years old, lives alone. Has no close family, and suffers from several old-age illnesses.

Please keep praying for Marcia Shulam my wife. Pray that Marcia’s memory will stop weakening, and that her arthritis be healed and stop being active, and her strength to return to where she can take more care of herself.

Please pray for Joseph Shulam, I had a biopsy of several overgrown lymph nodes in my chest and other internal parts.
I am waiting for results which will be several weeks out.

Your prayers for Alexander and Sarah, and Andrew, who were raised as believers and have left their faith behind, have been answered, the Divine Shepherd guided these members of the same family gently back to the fold, please keep praying for their general and spiritual welfare!

Pray for Adam’s father and mother, Barry and Dalia. They too have some health problems and challenges.

Pray for Miriam and for Hannah, her daughter. Miriam is a dear sister and has lost her husband recently.

A dear friend from Hong Kong, Bonnie, asked that we pray for her brother who lives in Australia. Bonnie’s brother’s name is Ray Chen. Please mention the name Ray Chen and ask God to show this man the grace of God and God’s powerful healing of body and soul and restoration of faith and life of holiness and sanctity.

In Finland we have some precious and dear brothers and sisters that need our prayers:

Pray Mauno Lemponen, he has been diagnosed with cancer in advanced stages. We are asking for Gods Will to be done giving him healthy days with family. Prayers for Hilka, Miika and Ester who are supporting each other.

Pray for Keijo and Salme, our dear partners and fellow workers in God’s flock. Both Keijo and Salme have some challenging heart issues.

Sipra, our dear sister in Nokia who is a widow with some health issues.

Satu-Maria, Sinni Tuuli, Anne Mirjami, our dear sisters, and all our other brothers and sisters in Finland who need our prayers: Eva H., Patty, Andrea, Julia and Victor, and Aaron Tani, and Hillel.

Please don’t forget to pray for the health of Kari Antilles in Finland. He is a dear brother and supporter in prayer for Netivyah for many years.

Brazil

Pray for the congregations related to Netivyah in Brazil, to have the strength and stamina to face the challenges in front of them with courage and strength of faithfulness to the Lord, and to the vision of the restoration of the church and Israel.

Pray for the millions of victims of the Spanish and Portuguese Inquisition who have been forced to convert to the Catholic church, and now want to return home to the land of Israel and to the faith of our fathers.

Pray for the state of Israel to open the doors for these lost Jews to be able to return and fulfill God’s promises to the prophet Ovadyah:

“But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, And there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. The house of Jacob shall be a fire, And the house of Joseph a flame; But the house of Esau shall be stubble; They shall kindle them and devour them, And no survivor shall remain of the house of Esau, For the Lord has spoken. The South shall possess the mountains of Esau, And the Lowland shall possess Philistia. They shall possess the fields of Ephraim And the fields of Samaria. Benjamin shall possess Gilead. And the captives of this host of the children of Israel Shall possess the land of the Canaanites As far as Zarephath. The captives of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad Shall possess the cities of the South. Pray for a dear young man, Paulo, from Curitiba, Brazil, who seriously needs our prayers for sanity and mental health.

Pray for Livia Schnell Nothen, she has some issues with her physical health and a growth in her adrenal gland. And other health issues.

Guilherme Antonio Nothen Becker is suffering from back problems. Aratuza de Oliveira his wife. Pray for this 3-year-old child that has serious problems with his eyes and ask the Lord to give healing to his eyes. This child’s name is Caique de Oliveira Becker.

A 70-year-old Pastor Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias is the father of a dear sister in Brazil, and suffers from diabetes.

Pray for Roberto Morias, a dear brother who is going through heart surgery and an angiogram.

Please pray for a dear 71-year-old sister called Bee Kim. She lost consciousness on February 26, 2023. She has not regained her consciousness after a massive stroke.

In India, Pastor Isaac, from Chennai, needs our prayers. Pastor Isaac is suffering from kidney problems and has to have dialysis several times per week.

Tony Tam and his wife Luisa and son Marco need special prayer for their situation.

Please pray for Ruby K. from Hong Kong. Ruby has gone through a very complicated surgery for multiple cancers in her body. The surgery was very long, and Ruby is back home now recovering. Please lift Ruby K. and ask the Lord to heal and deliver Ruby from Hong Kong.

Ray Jimenez from California is batteling leukemia. Pray for god to sustain him and his time with the family.

update Troy Jr. is in the hospital in Roanoke VA. This is one of Beth's uncles. Continue to pray for improvement of his liver function and strength. We are hopeful he will transition to a rehabilitation center.

Rabbi Levy had a Stroke is in Dallas, please pray for doctors and his recovery.

Please continue to pray for the daughter of Bill Colwell, who is very sick with cancer. She is receiving a second round of treatment. Please pray for success and healing.

Jonathan Bernis is in a long six month recovery from a liver transplant. We thank God for this match. Please pray for this new liver to function and provide much needed function. Please pray for Elisangela and the girls and also for the doctors and nurses that are attending our dear brother Jonathan Bernis.

Andrew Huffines, he has complications from long term covid.

Please pray for my family in the United States: Barry my son and his wife Beth, and for Joey my grandson. Pray for their divine protection and health.

Pray for Danah my daughter's health issues. I pray for the Lord to give Danah wisdom and peace and calm in life and in her work.

Pray for Noaam my granddaughter. She is working two jobs now and needs good health and wisdom to make the right choices and plans for life, education, immigration to Israel, and just general protection from all harm.

Pray for David Young the preacher in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, who is back to preaching after recovering from medical issues. Please keep David in your prayers.

Aaron Hook, Nancy Hook’s oldest son, needs our prayers for wisdom and healing from past issues of life.

Lift for blessing and healing Jonathan B. and his wife Aviva and their new baby, his mother, and his brother Daniel. Pray for these very important men of God: Rabbi Salt, his family, and Rabbi Hasselblad. They are both older and need protection and blessings.

Also, pray for Ilana Avramov who is married to my cousin Nissim and lives in New York City. Ilana has fallen and in now in rehab learning how to walk again. We pray for her full recovery. She and Nissim both need our prayers.

Steve Mock - His cognitive condition has declined, and we ask for the grace of God and His Healing and strength. Steve and Josie’s son Joseph - named after Joseph Shulam – has received a wonderful and glorious report. After the last bone marrow transplant the report is that the doctors didn’t find any leukemia his body! Praise the Lord!

Pray for three women of God in Canada who need healing, Lynda, Sandy and Joanne.
