저희는 오늘 아침 일어나서 매일 아침처럼 뉴스를 틀었습니다. 여기 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 하나님께서 주신 땅에서 이스라엘 국민 대다수는 뉴스에 중독되어 있습니다. 이 날은 다른 날과 무엇이 달랐을까요?
오늘 아침 저희는 깨자마자 러시아 샘 5 미사일이 시리아에서 발사되어 이스라엘 디모나 원자로에서 30 킬로미터 밖에 떨어지지 않은 곳에 떨어졌다는 뉴스를 들었습니다. 러시아 샘 5 미사일은 200 킬로그램이 넘는 폭탄을 실어 나르는 아주 크고 무거운 장거리미사일입니다. 이것은 게임 체인저로, 이스라엘을 지도에서 지워버리겠다는 이란의 위협과 함께 합니다. 이것은 우리가, 온 이스라엘이, 이스라엘 나라의 안전과 전 세계 이스라엘 사람들을 위해 온 열방 가운데 하나님의 사람들의 기도가 필요하다는 뜻입니다. 미국에 정부가 바뀌고 이란에 대해 “미온적인” 접근법으로 바뀌면서, 이란은 점점 더 대범하고 도전적이 되고 있습니다. 이스라엘 안보 집단에서는 그 목적이 이스라엘 원자로를 타격하려는 것이었는지 여부가 분명하지가 않습니다. 그것은 그냥 원자로를 향해 가다가 인근에서 폭발했습니다. 그러나 현 상황에서 이것은 시리아에 있는 이란의 꼭두각시를 통한 이란의 도전적 움직임입니다. 이스라엘을 위해 훨씬 더 중요할 수 있는 또 다른 긴급한 기도 제목이 있습니다. 저희는 2년도 채 안 되는 기간 동안 총선거를 네 번 했습니다. 저희는 2년 넘게 국가 예산이 없었습니다. 저희는 코로나바이러스 팬데믹을 다루는 데에 성공한 정부가 있었지만, 정치권 내부적으로는 사실상 수상과 그의 정당의 생존 문제로 정신이 없었습니다. 지난 몇 년 동안 모든 것이 원 맨 쇼였습니다. 네 번째 선거를 치른 지금은 세력 균형이 “원 맨 쇼” 영웅에게서 살짝 떠났습니다. 이것은 나라에 큰 불안을 조장하고 있으며, 밖으로부터의 적들이 이전 행정부 때 자기들에게 우호적이었던 자들에게서 역풍이 있다고 느낄 때 이스라엘 내 정치 구조의 불안정성은 분명 좋지 않습니다. 이스라엘과 온 중동은 여러분의 기도가 필요합니다. 종종 깊은 걱정으로 전능하신 하나님과 우리 메시아 예슈아께 이스라엘 나라에 그분의 긍휼과 인자를 펼쳐주시기를 간구하는 여러분의 기도가 필요합니다. 이번 주 토라 포션은 레위기 16:1~20:27, “아하레이 뫁”과 “케도쉼” 두 개이고, 선지서에서는 에스겔 22:1-19을 읽습니다. 신약성경에서는 마태복음 15:10-20을 읽습니다. 레위기에서 읽는 토라 포션은 흥미롭고 중요한 명령으로 가득하여 저는 “아하레이 뫁”에 대해 페이스북에 특별 강의를 해야 할 것 같습니다. 이 기도 목록에서는 “케도쉼”에 집중하고 싶습니다. 케도쉼 포션은 레위기 19:1,2로 시작합니다: “여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하여 이르시되 너는 이스라엘 자손의 온 회중에게 말하여 이르라 너희는 거룩하라[거룩할지니라] 이는 나 여호와 너희 하나님이 거룩함이니라.” – 레위기 19:1,2 저는 이 명령에 대해 문제가 있습니다. 제 문제는 이렇습니다: 이스라엘 백성을 애굽 종살이에서 데리고 나오시고 시내 광야에서 몇 달 동안 그들을 다루시고, 그들의 불평을 다루시고, 그들의 요구를 다루시고, 그들의 반역을 다루시고, 금송아지를 다루시고 하신 이스라엘의 주 하나님께서 어떻게 지금 모세에게 오셔서 그에게 이 어중이떠중이 시끄럽고 문제 많은 백성에게 거룩한 나라가 되라고 명하라고 하실 수 있으십니까? 네, 저것은 제가 그 말씀을 처음 읽었을 때 거기서 생긴 저의 의문이었습니다. 제가 그 말씀을 한 번 이상 읽은 지금, 저의 관찰한 바는 이렇습니다: 1. 주님께서는 이스라엘 나라에 거룩해지라는 것을 계명으로 만들지 않으셨습니다! 2. 주님께서는 모세에게 “말하라”고 말씀하셨습니다 – 주님께서는 “명하라”고 말씀하시지 않으셨습니다. 저는 이것이 중요하다고 깨달았습니다. 여러분은 사람들에게 거룩해지라고 명할 수 없습니다. 여러분이 사람들에게 서로 사랑하라고 명할 수 없는 것과 마찬가지입니다. 여러분은 말하고 제안하고 권하고 훈계할 수는 있지만 명할 수는 없습니다. 사랑하는 것과 거룩해지는 것은 개인의 마음으로부터 자유롭게 선택하는 것으로만 가능하기 때문입니다. 3. 주님께서도 이스라엘 백성에게 약속하셨습니다: “너희는 거룩할지니라[사도행전1:8 성령이 임하시면 너희가 … 내 증인이 “되리라”와 같은 문법, 역자주] 이는 나 여호와 너희 하나님이 거룩함이니라.” 이 약속에는 아무런 시간이 언급되어 있지 않습니다. 이 약속에는 의심의 여지가 없습니다. 이것은 강한 어조의 “너희는 거룩할지니라”이며 너희는 거룩할지니라의 이유는 “나 여호와 너희 하나님이 거룩함이니라”입니다! 제가 이것을 깨달았을 때 제 마음은 차분히 가라앉았습니다. 저는 우리 하나님께서 언제나 그분의 약속에 신실하심을 알고 여러분의 마음도 차분해지기를 바랍니다. 4. 이 말씀의 요지는 주님께서 우리를 거룩한 나라로, 그분의 세상, 그분께서 창조하신 나라들, 그분의 사람들을 섬기는 제사장 나라로 만드실 것이라는 것입니다. 큰 질문은 “어떻게” 이스라엘의 전능자이신 그분께서 우리를 거룩하게 만드실 것인가? 입니다. 다음은 신약성경의 다음 말씀에 근거하여 제가 깨달은 것입니다: “이는 곧 물로 씻어 말씀으로 깨끗하게 하사 거룩하게 하시고 자기 앞에 영광스러운 교회로 세우사 티나 주름 잡힌 것이나 이런 것들이 없이 거룩하고 흠이 없게 하려 하심이라.” – 에베소서 5:26,27 “평강의 하나님이 친히 너희를 온전히 거룩하게 하시고 또 너희의 온 영과 혼과 몸이 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 강림하실 때에 흠 없게 보전되기를 원하노라.” – 데살로니가전서 5:23 5. 에베소서 5장 말씀은 교회, 구속받은 자들의 공동체, 예슈아에 의해 성화되고 그분을 따르며 하나님의 뜻을 행하기로 헌신된 성도들에 대해 말하고 있습니다. 그렇습니다, 메시아 예슈아의 제자들 무리는 영광스러운 공동체(교회)가 되고 깨끗하고 거룩하고, 흠이 없게 될 것입니다. 이제 여러분은 선한 사도 바울이 하나님의 성령의 인도를 받아 이것을 쓴 지 2,000년이 넘었고 이것은 결코 일어나지 않을지도 모른다고 말할지도 모르겠습니다! 이성적으로 여러분이 옳을지도 모릅니다. 우리 인간적 관점으로 보면 여러분이 옳을지도 모릅니다. 그러나 불평하고 반역하고 서로 싸우다가 갑자기 시내 광야 가운데 서서 자기들을, 자기 몸과 자기 옷을 성화시키고 주님께서 시내산 꼭대기에서 그들에게 말씀하시도록 준비하는 데 사흘이 걸린 사람들의 또 다른 역사적 사건도 있습니다. 저는 그들이 모두 “주님, 저희가 행하고 듣겠나이다!”라고 말한 것을 기억합니다. 저의 모든 형제자매님들과 메시아 예슈아의 이름으로 부름 받은 이들을 위한 저의 기도는 온 세계에 지난 18개월 동안 발생한 사건이 경종이 되기를 비는 것입니다. 혼수상태에 있으면서 겨우 숨만 쉬며 가는 관을 통해 공급되는 영양제로 연명하면서도 여전히 고대 로마처럼 양식과 서커스를 원하는 교회를 부활시키는 일이 일어나도록, 그리고 주님께서 구름 타고 시온으로 돌아오시기 전에 즉시 그분의 신부를 성화시키고 영화롭게 만드시기를 기도합니다. 혼수상태에서 깨어나는 일이 즉시 일어날 수 있고 회복도 짧은 시간 밖에 안 걸릴 수 있지만 이 일은 정말 일어나며 일어날 것입니다. 주님께서는 결국 그분의 음성을 알고 그분의 음성을 듣고 그분을 따르는 교회, 공동체를 갖게 되실 것입니다. 자기들의 목자를 알고 그분의 음성을 아는 이들의 공동체 말입니다! 제 기도는 전 세계에 있는 우리 형제자매님들이 교파적 분열도 잊어버리고, 그들이 그 안에서 태어나 들어간 종교적 가르침도 잊어버리고, 기독교 역사의 어두운 장들도 잊어버리고, 로마나 스코틀랜드나 영국이나 독일이나 스위스나 체코슬로바키아에서 생겨난 필터 없이 곧바로 전적으로 메시아 예슈아께 돌아가는 것입니다. 여러분의 얼굴을 예루살렘을 향하고 말하십시오: “마라나타!” (“주여 이제 오시옵소서!”) 주님의 공동체(교회)는 주님에 의해 친히, 예슈아의 희생으로, 그분의 피로 성화되고 정결해지고 거룩해진 이스라엘과 함께 할 것입니다! 이론상으로 뿐만 아니라 실제적으로 거룩하여 모든 사람이 우리가 흰 옷을 입고 모세의 노래, 어린양의 노래를 부르는 것을 볼 것입니다. 이 일은 일어날 것입니다. 우리는 개개인들이 지금 우리 삶에 이 일이 일어나게 함으로써 준비되어야 합니다.

The Jerusalem Prayer List – April 22, 2021
by Joseph Shulam We got up this morning and like every morning we turned on the news. The majority of the people of Israel are addicted to the news here in this God-given land of milk and honey. What was different this day from any other day. This morning we woke up with the news that a Russian Sam 5 missile was launched from Syria and landed only 30 kilometers from the nuclear reactor in Dimona. The Russian Sam 5 missile is a very big and heavy long-distance missile that carries over 200 kilograms of explosives on board. The missile itself weighs seven tons. This is a game-changer and together with Iran’s threats to erase Israel from the face of the map it means that we, and all of Israel need the prayers of God’s people among all the nations for the safety of Israel as a country and for the people of Israel around the world. With the change of government in the USA and the “milk toast” approach toward Iran, the Iranians are getting brave and challenging. It is not clear in the Israeli security community if the aim was to hit Israel’s nuclear reactor or not, it just exploded in the direction and vicinity of the reactor. But be it as it is, this is a challenging move by Iran by their proxy in Syria. Please pray for Israel. There is another urgent prayer for Israel that might be even more important. We have had four elections in less than two years. We have had no national budget for more than two years. We have had a government that is successful in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, but internally has been essentially occupied with the survival of the prime minister and his political party. Everything in the last few years has been a one man show. Now after the fourth election the balance of power has shifted a bit away from the “one man show” hero. This is causing big unrest in the country and the instability of the political structure in Israel is for sure not good when the enemies from outside feel that they have a back wind from those who favored them during the previous administration. Israel and the whole Middle East needs your prayers. Your prayers often, and with deep concern begging the Almighty God and Yeshua our Messiah, to extend His mercy and kindness to the nation of Israel. The Torah portion this week is a double portion, Acharei Mot-Kedoshim, Leviticus 16:1 - 20:27 and from the prophets we are reading Ezekiel 22:1-19. From the New Testament we are reading Matthew 15:10-20. The Torah reading from Leviticus is so full of interesting and important instructions that I will have to do a special Facebook teaching on the Acharei Mot portion. In this prayer list I would like to concentrate on the Kedoshim text. The reading of the Kedoshim portion starts in Lev. 19:1,2: “And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ‘Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say to them: “You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.”’” – Leviticus 19:1,2 [NJIV] I have a problem with this command. My problem is this, how could the Lord God of Israel who took the people of Israel out of Egyptian slavery and has been dealing with them for several months in the wilderness of Sinai, dealing with their complaints, dealing with their demands, dealing with their rebellion, with the Golden Calf, etc. now come to Moses and ask him, to command this group of rabble rousers and problematic people to become a holy nation? Well, that was my first reading of the text and from there came my question. Now, that I have read the text more than one time here are some of my observations: 1. The Lord didn’t make it a commandment for the nation of Israel to become Holy! 2. The Lord said to Moses “speak” – He didn’t say “command.” This I realize is important. You can’t command people to become holy. Just like you can’t command people to love one another. You can speak, suggest, encourage, edify, but not command. Because to love and to be holy can only be a choice made freely and from the heart of an individual. 3. The Lord also made a promise to the people of Israel: “You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.” In this promise there is no time mentioned. In this promise there is no room for doubt – it is emphatic “you shall be holy” and the reason that you shall be holy is because “for I the Lord your God am holy!” When I understood this, my heart calmed down. I hope that your heart is also calm knowing that our God is always faithful to His promises. 4. The upshot of this text is that The Lord will make us a holy nation, a nation of priests to serve His world, the nations that he created, His people. The big question is how, will He, the almighty one of Israel, make us holy? Here is my understanding based on the following texts from the New Testament: “…that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word… that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.” – Ephesians 5:26,27 [NJKV] “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:23 [NKJV] 5. The Ephesians 5 passage is talking about the church, the community of the redeemed, the saints that have been sanctified by Yeshua and by their commitment to follow Him and to do God’s will. Yes, that group of disciples of the Messiah Yeshua that are going to be a glorious community (church) and clean and holy, and without blemish. Now you might say that over 2000 years have passed since the good apostle Paul wrote these things led by the Holy Spirit of God and that this might never happen! Rationally you might be right, looking at it from our human point of view you might be right. However, I have another historical event in which people who were grumbling and rebellious and fighting with each other, suddenly standing in the middle of the Sinai desert took three days to sanctify themselves, their bodies and their clothing and to prepare for the Lord to speak to them from the top of Mount Sinai. I remember that they all said, “Lord we will do and hear!” My prayer for all my brothers and sisters and for those who are called by the name of the Messiah Yeshua (Christians) is that the events of the last 18 months around the whole world will be a wake-up call. That the resurrection of a church that is in a coma, barely breathing, and being fed through a tube, but still desiring bread and circuses like ancient Rome, will happen, and that instantly the Lord will sanctity and glorify His bride before He returns to Zion in the clouds. Waking up from a coma can happen instantly and recovery might take a short time, but it does happen and will happen. The Lord, will in the end have a church, a community that knows His voice and hears His voice and follows Him. A community of those who know their shepherd and know His voice! My prayer is for all my brothers and sisters around the world to forget their denominational divisions, to forget the religious institutions that they were born into, to forget the dark chapters of Christian history, and turn directly and entirely to the Messiah Yeshua without any filters from Rome or from Scotland, England, Germany, Switzerland, or Czechoslovakia. Turn your faces toward Jerusalem and say: “maranatha!” (“Lord come now!”) The Lord’s community (church) will be with an Israel that is sanctified and purified and made holy by the Lord Himself and by the sacrifice of Yeshua and by His blood! Holy, not only theoretically, but Holy practically, so that all might see us dressed in white and singing the Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb. This will happen and we need to be ready for it by starting now as individuals to let it happen in our own lives.
Please continue to pray for Marcia. She is definitely slowed down significantly. She has very little energy and she rests most of the day. I am praying and believing in the Lord’s grace for healing Marcia and restoring her ability to function and travel with me and to be a blessing to the local congregation and community and to our brothers and friends around the world. Pray for Marcia, please!
Pray also for me. In the last few days I have been feeling weak and cold, and suffer from pain in my left leg and also my back sides. I suppose and hope that these are just an old man’s normal pains and aches. The Lord can heal and strengthen and give energy.
I am scheduled for eye surgery on May 2nd. The surgery will be on my left eye. My left eye has been blind since 1951, and now the top doctors in Jerusalem are anxious to do surgery on that eye and hope that I will be able to see from both eyes. For me this is no less than a miracle, but I need your prayers. Marcia will also have cataract surgery on one of her eyes sometimes after me in the month of May.
Please Pray for Yudah Chamero who took a flight to Columbia to see his father who is in his 80th, and has been diagnosed with stage four liver cancer. The doctors in Columbia urged Yudah to come and see his father. Please pray for Yudah’s father and pray for a miracle of healing!
Please keep praying for the family of Adam R. who is the person who does the media work in Netivyah, recording, editing our writings and videos. Dear brother Adam R.
Please prayer for a dear brother, Malcolm Thomas King from the UK. Malcolm has already been in the hospital for a week and is in critical condition.
Please consider helping Netivyah to continue caring and feeding the poor of Jerusalem and blessing the people of this city that need help to feed their children and families.
Also we need your prayers and help to continue to do the Lord's work with the youth in Jerusalem, and with the publication of the “Teaching from Zion” Magazine that goes around the world in about 4000 issues and gives people a different perspective of the life and practices of the Bible and the Early Church in Israel.
Printing several thousands of issues of the Teaching from Zion Magazine is costly. It costs several thousands of dollars to edit and do the graphics and to print and to mail. We are not charging money for every service and teaching that we do around the world. We have our M.O. from the very beginning of Netivyah in the year 1980, we want to share the Lord’s goodness free of charge. We are teaching around the world, and now we are doing it through modern technology and feeding spiritual truths and teachings. Just a few hours ago, I gave a teaching of nearly three hours to leaders from Italy. All our teachings both at home and around the world are carried out free-of-charge for those who receive them, but at high cost to Netivyah for the production and printing of these valuable teachings.
The Hamotzi program for feeding the needy of Jerusalem is ongoing and has not stopped during most of the coronavirus lockdown and quarantine. The number of needy people who come to receive food from our program has increased and overall need has increased.
Please pray for Netivyah and for the Netivyah leadership and find ways to partner and participate in the great blessing that the ministry of Netivyah is here in Israel and also around the world. Please pray and seek ways to partner and contribute financially for the Lord’s work in Netivyah Bible Instruction Ministry.
Please continue to pray for a very special kindergarten in Jerusalem “Little Hearts.” The director of this special kindergarten is one of our own from the congregation.
Keep praying for a dear sister, Livia Schnell Nothen. Please keep brother Philip Marc in your prayers. Pray for Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias. He is the father of a dear sister in Brazil.
Pray for all those wonderful, dedicated brothers and sisters in Korea who stood with Israel and with Netivyah to revive and to not forget their first love for Israel and for Netivyah.
Danah our daughter, needs much prayer for her health and her situation. Our granddaughter Noam is a senior in high-school and working with Zoom to finish her high school. Pray for the Lord to give Noam guidance and direction for graduation from high school.
Our grandson Joseph also needs prayer to be able to get into college with proper scholarships. Please lift Barry our son and his family, Beth, and Joey our grandson to be protected and spared any contact and infection of the coronavirus. Marcia’s mother June is 91 years old and her health is failing.
Our dear sister Hadassah continues her healing and recovery from cancer. Keep her in your prayers.

Pray for Sister Yoko Nagumo in Japan. Sister Yoko had a stroke, and we pray that her recovery will be quick and complete.
From Chennai, India, please remember Pastor Isaac. Pastor Isaac is an older man with severe kidney problems and has to have dialysis several times per week. Remember Tony and Louisa Tam, and our brothers and sisters at the 611 Church, and the other churches who love God and love Israel in that great city. Remember in your prayers the Cohen family in Hong Kong.
Just a word of grace before the mercy seat of the Almighty will be heard in favor of these brothers and Um Mahmud Abu-Eid and Jimmy Abu-Eid and his family, Keijo and Salme our dear brothers in Finland, Tim Tucker, Satu-Maria, Sinni Tuuli, Anne Mirjami our dear sister and all our other brothers and sisters in Finland who need our prayers, Eva H., Patty, Andrea, Julia and Victor, and Aaron Tani, and Hillel and his wife.
We continue to pray for Zhou Wenrian, Abe family, Toru San, Takeo Sensei, Daisuke Sensei, Tomoko San, Yumi and her father Pastor Ohara, George, and Pastor Isaac in Chennai, India.
I have just received a prayer request from a dear sister from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her father who is 70 years old and diabetic has contracted the COVID-19 virus. His name is Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias.
Please see your prayer as casting a vote for healing before the Lord and His angels in Heaven in favor of every brother and sister that you are praying for. Just a word of grace for all of us is a refreshing spirit. Take your prayers before the mercy seat of the Almighty to be heard in favor of those that you are lifting in prayer.
Keep praying for Guilherme Antonio Nathan Becker and his wife Artuza de Oliviera, also add Rachael and Daniel Webster and Lizette Nancy, and Jose Carlos from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Ahuva. Please pray for a dear brother who is well into his 90’s and lost his wife a couple of weeks ago. His name is Dov H. Please keep in your prayers a dear sister who attends our congregation in Jerusalem. Her name is Hadassah and she just had cancer surgery. Pray for Hadassah for a full recovery and remission from any cancer in her body.
Pray for Israel. We are going through terrible riots and violence in the streets of Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv and other places around the country. These riots are motivated by the fact that much of the populace of Israel does not understand what the government is doing in relationship to the coronavirus pandemic.
I would like a new prayer request for a dear brother Yehuda Hochman who lives in the Negev Desert. Yehuda has to receive Dialysis treatment several times per week.
I pray that the Lord will inspire and motivate brothers and sisters and ministries who can help with this to visit our webpage and do what they can to make it possible for us to double or more than double, the number of people and families that we serve.

The coronavirus is threatening the economy of the world with a great recession and depression. Some of our major supporters have already lowered the amount of their support. They have done this not only toward Netivyah, but for all the ministries that they are supporting, and they are many. I would like to first ask you to pray about your part in supporting Netivyah Bible Instruction Ministry.
Second, I would like for you who stand with us in prayer and financially to do your absolute best to stay on board with us and communicate. We realize that times will be hard for several years, but we also realize that God has chosen and blessed you for such a time as this.
Third, please pray for a new project that we are starting in Israel in partnership with the Houses for Healing ministry from Abilene, Texas.
I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish! The best is yet to come!
