예루살렘 기도 목록 – 2021년 9월 2일

전 세계 모든 유대인들이 읽는 것과 같은 순서로 토라를 읽는 것은 다음과 같은 필요에 소용되는 일종의 세 갈래 포크 같습니다:
첫째, 이것은 예슈아의 사도들이 비-유대인 형제자매들에게 했던 권고 그 이상을 순종하는 것입니다: “그러므로 내 의견에는 이방인 중에서 하나님께로 돌아오는 자들을 괴롭게 하지 말고 다만 우상의 더러운 것과 음행과 목매어 죽인 것과 피를 멀리하라고 편지하는 것이 옳으니 이는 예로부터 각 성에서 모세를 전하는 자가 있어 안식일마다 회당에서 그 글을 읽음이라 하더라.” – 사도행전 15:19-21 사도들의 이 결정은 이방인들이 이스라엘과, 아브라함의 자손이요 다윗의 자손(우리가 “신약”이라고 부르는 책의 첫 절을 보시기 바랍니다.)인 메시아와 함께 하기 위해 할례를 받을 필요가 없는 이유의 핵심입니다. 둘째, 하나님의 말씀을 아는 지식은 성경 첫 장들부터 하나님께서 계획하시고 실행하신 전(全) 구원 계획을 이해하기 위해 필수적입니다. 하나님의 인류구원계획은 예슈아께서 베들레헴에 태어나셨을 때 시작된 것이 아닙니다. 예슈아께서 베들레헴에 태어나신 것은 하나님께서 그렇게 계획하시고 그 일이 일어나게 하시고 그 분의 계획을 이미 스가랴나 이사야 같은 이스라엘의 선지자들의 글에 기록했기 때문입니다. 예슈아의 탄생은 인류구속 이야기의 시작이 아닙니다. 구속 이야기는 창세기부터 시작되었습니다. 이야기의 전체 시야를 모르는 것은 브레이크 패들에 발이 닿지도 않는 여섯 살짜리 아이를 운전석에 앉히고 차를 몰고 돌아다니게 하는 것과 마찬가지입니다. 히브리 성경을 모르는 것은 심지어 소위 개신교 목사라는 이들조차 성경을 모르는 것은, 저는 범죄라고 생각합니다. 마지막으로, 모든 유대인들과 함께 같은 날 같은 토라와 선지서를 읽는 것은 결승선까지 올림픽 성화를 들고 가도록 하나님께서 선택하신 팀을 응원하는 것과 같은 것입니다! 이번 안식일에 읽는 토라 포션은 유대인 달력에 따른 5782년 첫 번째 안식일에 읽는 부분입니다. 우리는 파라샷 니짜빔(“우리가 굳게 서서”), 신명기 29:10~30:20을 읽을 것입니다. 여러분도 아시다시피 우리는 토라의 끝부분에 다다르고 있습니다. 4장만 더 읽으면 토라 읽기를 끝내고 다시 처음부터 시작합니다. 선지서에서는 이사야 61:10~63:9, 신약성경에서는 로마서 10:1-18을 읽습니다. 이번 토라 포션에는 유대인이든 기독교인든 우리 모두에게, 특별히 우리 메시아 예슈아의 유대인 제자들에게 아주 중요한 한 구절이 있습니다. 그 구절은 신명기 29:29입니다: “감추어진 일은 우리 하나님 여호와께 속하였거니와 나타난 일은 영원히 우리와 우리 자손에게 속하였나니 이는 우리에게 이 율법의 모든 말씀을 행하게 하심이니라.” – 신명기 29:29 무지한 기독교인들 중에 유대교에서 카발라라고 하는 것을 탐구함에 이끌리는 일이 쇄도하고 있습니다. 카발라는 위험하고 사람이 만든 것입니다. 이것은 하나님과는 아무 관련이 없으며 성경의 하나님의 계시와 아무 관련이 없습니다. 네, 카발라 추종자들이 성경을 사용하기는 하지만, 그들의 목적을 위해서만 사용하며, 종종 역사적 문맥적 맥락을 벗어나게 사용합니다. 무엇보다 “유대” 카발라의 가장 위험한 면은 그것이 그것을 탐구하는 이들에게 그들이 비밀스럽고 특별한 어떤 정보를 얻는다는 감정과 환상을 준다는 것입니다. 사람들에게 이런 거짓된 가짜 자부심이 생기면 그들은 그들을 곧바로 지옥문으로 데려다줄 스케이트보드를 타는 것입니다. 유대인 율법(“슐한 아룩”)에 따르면, 유대인 남자는 마흔 살이 되어서야 카발라 탐구를 시작할 수 있습니다. 이런 율령의 근거는 주후 2세기경부터입니다. 피르케이 아봇 5:21에서 우리는 랍비 예후다 벤 타마의 가르침을 읽을 수 있는데요, 거기에서 그는 여러 연령층과 그 나이에 뭘 해야 하는가를 토론합니다. 그의 가르침에서 우리는 다섯 살에 성경공부를, 열 살에 미쉬나 공부를 시작하고, 마흔 살에 “비나”를 깊이 이해하기를 추구해야 한다는 것을 알 수 있습니다. 이 말은 사람들이 마흔 살이 될 때까지는 철학이나 카발라를 연구해서는 안 된다는 사상으로 이어졌는데요, 17세기 랍비 샵바타이 하코헨이 그의 슐한 아룩(그보다 약 300년 전에 랍비 요셉 카로가 집대성한 유대 율법) 주석에 요약한 생각입니다(요레 데아 246:6). 카발라는 사람을 이성적이고 논리적인 영역에서 보통의 논리적이고 역사적인 수단으로는 접근하거나 검증하거나 살펴볼 수 없는 신비스러운 정보인 수비학에 근거한 비밀스런 “지식”으로 데려갑니다. 하나님의 말씀에서 모세의 말을 듣는 것이 어떻겠습니까? 모세는 아주 분명하고 큰 소리로 이스라엘 자손에게 말합니다: “감추어진 일은 우리 하나님 여호와께 속하였거니와 나타난 일은 영원히 우리와 우리 자손에게 속하였나니 이는 우리에게 이 율법의 모든 말씀을 행하게 하심이니라.” – 신명기 29:29 네, 하나님께는 감추어진 일들, 우리에게 드러내시지 않기로 한 일들이 있습니다. 유한하고 한계가 있고 약한 우리 인간들은 왜 우리의 교훈과 믿음을 위해 분명하게 기록된 하나님의 계시된 일들을 이해하지 못하면서도 “비밀들” 속으로 들어가고 싶어 할까요? 왜 기본도 모르는 우리 인간은 하나님께서 우리에게 금하시고, 우리에게 매일의 삶에 실질적 적용이 되지도 않는 것을 탐구하고 싶어 할까요? 왜 어둡고, 분명하지 않고, 살펴볼 수도 없으며, 지뢰로 가득한 위험한 영역으로 들어가고 싶어 할까요? 하나님의 말씀을 그냥 단순하게, 말 그대로, 역사적이고 문맥적으로 이해함으로 받아들이고 우리가 거룩하고 고무적이라고 분명히 알고 있는 것을 실행하는 데에 최선을 다하도록 합시다. 이번 토라 포션에서 제가 여러분과 나누고 싶은 두 번째 것은 참된 회개의 모범입니다. “내가 네게 진술한 모든 복과 저주가 네게 임하므로 네가 네 하나님 여호와로부터 쫓겨간 모든 나라 가운데서 이 일이 마음에서 기억이 나거든 너와 네 자손이 네 하나님 여호와께로 돌아와 내가 오늘 네게 명령한 것을 온전히 따라 마음을 다하고 뜻을 다하여 여호와의 말씀을 청종하면 네 하나님 여호와께서 마음을 돌이키시고 너를 긍휼히 여기사 포로에서 돌아오게 하시되 네 하나님 여호와께서 흩으신 그 모든 백성 중에서 너를 모으시리니 네 쫓겨간 자들이 하늘 가에 있을지라도 네 하나님 여호와께서 거기서 너를 모으실 것이며 거기서부터 너를 이끄실 것이라.” – 신명기 30:1-4 이 본문에서 모세의 입을 통해 말씀하신 하나님의 말씀의 표현을 주목해 보십시오! 모세는 “너희가 죄를 지어 하나님께서 너희를 너희 나라에서 내쫓아 너희가 너희 위에 토라의 저주들을 받거든”이라고 말하지 않습니다. 하나님의 선지자로서 모세는 “이제 그 일이 이루어질지라.”라고 말합니다. 이것이 너희에게 일어날 것이며, 너희는 죄를 지을 젓이며, 너희는 하나님의 저주들, 토라의 저주들을 자초할 것이며, 너희는 열방 중에 흩어질 것인데, 너희가 주의 말씀을 청종하지 않았기 때문이다. 그런데 “너희가 주 너희 하나님께 돌아와(회개하다, “테슈바”, 헬라어로 “에피스트렙소”, 뒤로 걷다) 오늘날 내가 너희에게 명하는 모든 것에 따라 너희와 너희 자녀가 마음을 다하고 뜻을 다하여 그분의 음성을 청종하면, 주 너희 하나님께서 너희를 포로에서 다시 데려오시고 너희에게 긍휼을 베푸시고 주 너희 하나님께서 너희를 흩으셨던 열방 중에서 너희를 다시 모으실 것이다. 너희 중 누구든 하늘 아래 가장 먼 곳으로 쫓겨났을지라도 그곳에서도 주 너희 하나님께서 너희를 모으실 것이며 그곳에서 너희를 데려오실 것이다.” 지금 이 회개의 조건이 아주 중요하지만, 에스겔 선지자에 따르면, 사실인즉 하나님께서는 이 목이 곧은 백성이 회개하기를 기다리는 것이 꼭 효과적이지 않을 것이라는 사실을 아신다는 점입니다. 그 분께서 택하신 이 백성은 만만하지 않고 나긋나긋하지 않은, 목이 곧은 백성입니다. 그래서 하나님께서는 에스겔이 아직 바벨론 유수 중일 때 그에게 계시하신 두 번째 계획을 적용하십니다. 하나님께서는 이 선지자에게 그분의 플랜 “비(B)”를 계시하십니다: “그러므로 너는 이스라엘 족속에게 이르기를 주 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시기를 이스라엘 족속아 내가 이렇게 행함은 너희를 위함이 아니요 너희가 들어간 그 여러 나라에서 더럽힌 나의 거룩한 이름을 위함이라 여러 나라 가운데에서 더럽혀진 이름 곧 너희가 그들 가운데에서 더럽힌 나의 큰 이름을 내가 거룩하게 할지라 내가 그들의 눈 앞에서 너희로 말미암아 나의 거룩함을 나타내리니 내가 여호와인 줄을 여러 나라 사람이 알리라 주 여호와의 말씀이니라 내가 너희를 여러 나라 가운데에서 인도하여 내고 여러 민족 가운데에서 모아 데리고 고국 땅에 들어가서 맑은 물을 너희에게 뿌려서 너희로 정결하게 하되 곧 너희 모든 더러운 것에서와 모든 우상 숭배에서 너희를 정결하게 할 것이며 또 새 영을 너희 속에 두고 새 마음을 너희에게 주되 너희 육신에서 굳은 마음을 제거하고 부드러운 마음을 줄 것이며 또 내 영을 너희 속에 두어 너희로 내 율례를 행하게 하리니 너희가 내 규례를 지켜 행할지라 내가 너희 조상들에게 준 땅에서 너희가 거주하면서 내 백성이 되고 나는 너희 하나님이 되리라.” – 에스겔 36:22-28 이 본문은 하나님의 은혜를 잘 보여주는 위대한 증거로서, 고집 세고 목이 곧다고 부르는 민족에게 은혜를 베푸실 수 있는 하나님의 능력과 적극성을 계시합니다. 하나님께서 그분의 계획과, 우리 조상 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 주신 약속들에 대해 보이신 신실하심이 바로, 그분께서 그분의 아들 예슈아를 보내시고, 우리에게 새 마음과 새 영을 주시며, 우리를 죄에서 구속하시고 이 지상에 천국을 세우시기 위해 모든 것 중에 가장 비싼 값, 그분의 독생자 예슈아를 보내심으로 우리를 더러움에서 깨끗케 하신다는 플랜 “비(B)”를 가지고 계신 이유이며 증거입니다. 우리의 돌아옴(회개)과 회복 성취에 있어 이 우주의 창조주이신 하나님과 동역자가 되는 것이 우리의 기도이며 노래입니다. 우리가 유대 달력상 새 해 회개의 계절로 들어가고 있으니, 먼저 우리 마음과 영을 살피고, 교회나 정당이나 우리의 종교 클럽이 아닌, 주께로 돌아갑시다! 우리를 인도하여 우리의 (헬라어로) “파라클레이토스”(변호사, 상담자, 조력자)이신 주께로 다시 데려가실 예슈아의 손을 꼭 붙잡읍시다. 우리 인간은 주님으로부터 너무 멀리 가벼렸기 때문에 혼자 힘으로는 하나님께로 돌아가는 그 여정을 할 수 없어서, 하나님의 유일한 종, 메시아, 하나님께서 이사야 선지자의 입과 펜을 통해 이사야 53장에서 이스라엘에 하신 약속들을 이루신 그분이 필요합니다. 네, 친애하는 형제자매님들, 토라에 회개의 모범이 있기는 하지만, 하나님의 은혜는, 우리가 영적으로 물리적으로 다시 집으로 돌아오는 것을 도우시기 위해 하나님과 그분의 아들 우리 메시아 예슈아께서 빚을 갚으셨다는 신용장을 우리에게 주셨습니다. 우리는 이미 그 과정 중에 있습니다! 주님을 찬양하며, 연약하고 한계가 있는 인간이지만, 마음이 깨끗이 씻기고 할례 받고 우리 삶을 하나님의 아들 우리 구주 예슈아께 바친 저희를 사용해 주시기를 구합니다! 주님, 저희를 사용하시며, 저희를 이스라엘의 구원과 곧 있을 예슈아의 시온으로의 재림을 위한 주님의 병기고에 도구가 되게 하소서! 아멘!

연사 중 두 명은 최초 팀부터 계속 하고 있는데요, 피터 쭈카히라와 저입니다. 이스라엘에서 참여하는 세 번째 강사는 처음으로 아시아 메시아닉 포럼에 참여합니다. 아시아와 이스라엘을 위한 주님과 성령님의 큰 역사의 일부가 되는 것은 언제나 큰 기쁨이며 특권입니다.

여러분의 기도에 이스라엘 정부를 기억해 주십시오. 코로나바이러스가 이스라엘에서 다시 창궐하며 새로운 변이가 전국에 걸쳐 확산되고 있습니다. 사람들은 3차 백신을 맞고 있지만, 상황이 진정되는 데는 몇 주 걸릴 것입니다.
우리는 모두 주님께서 이 전염병을 멈춰주시도록 기도해야 하는데요, 우선 무엇보다 하나님과 그분의 율법과 규례를 아는 유대인과 기독교인들이 기도하고 회개하고 주님을 구하고 긍휼을 간구하며, 우리가 성경에서 읽는 다른 모든 전염병에 대해 주님께서 하셨던 것처럼 이 전염병을 멈춰주시기를 구해야 합니다.
주님께서 그렇게 하실 수 있으시니, 우리는 하나님께 그분의 세상에 대한 긍휼을 베풀어주시도록 중보하며 간구해야 합니다. 이런 일은 오직 기독교인들과 유대인들의 지도자들이 죄를 고백하고 회개할 때에만 일어날 수 있습니다.
다음 주에 로쉬 하사냐(유대 전통적 새해)가 있고 열흘 후에는 욤 하키푸림(속죄일)이고 그로부터 나흘 후에는 장막절입니다. 9월 대부분이 절기입니다!
이 절기들이 이 민족에 영적으로 큰 의미가 있는 것은 이 절기들이 심판날과, 우리 죄의 회개와, 마지막으로 하나님의 은혜에 대한 경축과 이 물리적 세계에서 우리의 연약함의 고백과, 사회의 모든 부분, 선과 악과 추함(도덕적 형사적 추함)과 우리의 하나됨과 협력의 필요성에 초점이 맞춰져 있기 때문입니다.
유대인 사회 말고는 세상에 그 어느 곳에서도 이와 같은 것은 없습니다. 예슈아의 제자들인 우리는 하나님의 거룩한 말씀으로의 다시 회복되는 과정의 일부가 되는 것이 아주 큰 특권이라고 여깁니다.
아주 힘든 이 때에 네티비야를 위해, 이스라엘 사람들에게 선을 행하며 그들을 축복하고 먹이고 지지해줄 기회를 위해 기도하고 후원해 주십시오. 이스라엘에서 이 어려운 시절에 어려움에 처한 이들의 수가 몇 배로 늘었습니다.
저희가 예루살렘의 빈궁한 사람들에게 선을 행하고 축복이 될 지회는 하나님께서 주신 기쁨과 특권의 기회이며 이것은 여러분이 거의 30년 동안 예루살렘의 가난한 이들에게 믿음직스럽고 효과적이며 후했던 이 위대한 사역의 일부가 될 수 있는 기회이기도 합니다!

코로나바이러스가 전 세계적으로, 그리고 이스라엘에서도 다시 창궐하면서 새로운 봉쇄 위협이 생기고 있기에 이스라엘은 더 기도가 필요하고 네티비야도 여러분의 기도와 후원이 필요합니다.
저희는 예슈아의 유대인 및 아랍인 제자들이 대학교에서 수학할 수 있게 하는 장학금을 줄이지 않으려고 최선을 다하고 있습니다. 저희는 저희 차세대 제자들의 기준을 세우는 것이 최우선이라고 믿습니다.
주님께서 우리 형제자매님들 중 어떤 이들을 사용하여 이 프로젝트를 도와주시지 않으시면 저희는 내년도에 학생들 지원 비율을 50% 이상 줄여야 할 것입니다. 네티비야는 40년 사역 동안 한 번도 빚을 진 적이 없고, 앞으로도 어떤 프로젝트든, 심지어 이스라엘의 믿는 자들의 미래에 대한 이 중요한 투자에 대해서도 빚을 질 계획이 없습니다.

주님께서는 기도에 응답하시고 의인들의 기도를 들으시지만, 우리는 우리 형제자매들을 위해서 그리고 각자의 나라와 사역을 위해서 우리 기도를 아뢰어야 합니다. 심지어 우리 원수를 위한 기도도 하나님 말씀의 명령입니다.
그러니, 혹시 있다면 여러분 개인의 원수를 위해, 특별히 이란이나 가자지구 하마스나 가자지구 및 레바논의 헤즈볼라 같은 이스라엘의 원수들이며 테러 국가인 자들을 위해 기도해 주십시오. 이것이 중요한 이유는 여러분이 이들 원수들의 선을 위해 기도할 때 여러분이 사실은 그들 머리에 달군 숯불을 쌓는 것이기 때문입니다. (로마서 12장 끝부분 참조.)

The Jerusalem Prayer List – September 2, 2021

Reading the Torah in the same order that all of the Jewish population around the world reads it, is a kind of three-pronged fork that serves the following needs:
First, it is in obedience to the more than recommendation of the apostles of Yeshua for the non-Jewish brothers and sisters: “Therefore I judge that we should not trouble those from among the Gentiles who are turning to God, but that we write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from things strangled, and from blood. For Moses has had throughout many generations those who preach him in every city, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath.” – Acts 15:19-21 [NKJV] This decision of the apostles is the crux of the reason why the Gentiles don’t need to be circumcised in order to have fellowship with Israel and with the Messiah, son of Abraham, son of David. (Please see the first verse of the book that we call “The New Testament.”) Second, the knowledge of God’s word is essential in order to understand the whole scheme of salvation that God had planned and executed from the first chapters of the Bible. God’s plan of salvation for humanity didn’t start when Yeshua was born in Bethlehem. Yeshua was born in Bethlehem because God had planned it and made it happen and recorded His plan already in the prophets of Israel, like Zechariah and Isaiah. The birth of Yeshua is not the beginning of the story of redemption of the human race. The story of redemption starts in Genesis. Being ignorant of the full scope of the story is like putting a six-year-old child on the driver’s seat and allowing him to drive you around, when his feet don’t even reach the brakes peddle. This ignorance of the Hebrew Bible, even by so called Protestant pastors, is, in my opinion, criminal. Finally, participating with all the Jewish nation reading the Torah and the prophets on the same day is like cheering for the same team that God has chosen to carry the Olympic Torch to the finish line! The reading for this Shabbat is the reading for the first Shabbat of the year 5782 according to the Jewish calendar. We will be reading Parashat Nitzavim (“we stand firm”) from Deuteronomy 29:10 – 20:30. As you can see, we are approaching the end of the Torah, just four more chapters and we will end the reading of the Torah and start over from the beginning. From the prophets we will be reading Isaiah 61:10 – 63:9. From the New Testament we will read Romans 10:1-18. In our Torah reading there is one verse that is of extreme important to all of us, Jews and Christians, and especially the Jewish disciples of Yeshua our Messiah. The verse is from Deuteronomy 29:29: “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” – Deuteronomy 29:29 [NKJV] There is a rush today of innocent Christians being led to delve into what in Judaism is called Kabbalah. Kabbalah is dangerous and manmade, it has nothing to do with God, and nothing to do with God’s revelation in the Bible. Yes, Kabbalists use the Bible, but only for their purposes, and often outside of the historical and textual context. The first and the most dangerous aspect of “Jewish” Kabbalah is the feeling and illusion that it gives those that delve in it that they are special and that they have some information that is secret and special. In any context when people develop this false sense of negative pride, they are riding the skateboard that is going to take them right through the gates of Hell. According to the code of Jewish Law (“Shulchan Aruch”), a Jewish man can start delving into the Kabbalah only from the age of 40. The basis of this statement is from around the 2nd Century A.D. In Pirkei Avot 5:21 we read of a teaching of Rabbi Yehuda ben Tama in which he discusses various ages and what one should be doing at that age. From him we learn that Bible study should begin at age five, study of the Mishnah at 10, and that at age 40 one should pursue “binah”, deep understanding. This statement led to the idea that people should not study philosophy or Kabbalah until they reach 40 years of age, a sentiment codified by 17th century rabbi Shabbatai HaKohen in his commentary on the Shulchan Aruch, the code of Jewish law composed about 300 years ago by Rabbi Joseph Karo (Yoreh Deah 246:6). Kabbalah takes the person from the sphere of the rational and logical to esoteric “knowledge” based on numerology, mystical information that is not accessible, or testable, or examinable with normal logical and historical tools. Why not just hear Moses from God’s word? Moses says to the children of Israel in a very clear and loud voice: “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” – Deuteronomy 29:29 [NKJV] Yes, God has secret things, things that He chose not to reveal to us. Why do we, as finite, limited, and weak humans want to enter into the “secrets” when we don’t even understand the revealed things of God that are explicitly written for our instruction and faith? Why do we, as humans who don’t know the basics, want to delve into what God forbids us, and into something that has no practical daily application for us? Why enter into the dark, unclear, unexaminable dangerous field full of landmines? Let us just take God’s word in the simple, linguistic, historical, contextual, historical, understanding of God’s Word and do our best to practice that which we know clearly to be divine and inspired? The second thing from this Torah portion that I would like to share with you is the paradigm of true repentance. “Now it shall come to pass, when all these things come upon you, the blessing and the curse which I have set before you, and you call them to mind among all the nations where the Lord your God drives you, and you return to the Lord your God and obey His voice, according to all that I command you today, you and your children, with all your heart and with all your soul, that the Lord your God will bring you back from captivity, and have compassion on you, and gather you again from all the nations where the Lord your God has scattered you. If any of you are driven out to the farthest parts under heaven, from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there He will bring you.” – Deuteronomy 30:1-4 [NKJV] Notice the language of God’s word in this text that is spoken by the mouth of Moses! Moses does not say, “If you sin and God sends you out of your country into exile, and you receive the curses of the Torah upon yourself.” As a prophet of God Moses says, “Now it shall come to pass.” This is going to happen to you, you will sin and you will bring upon yourselves God’s curses, the curses of the Torah, and you will be scattered among the nations because you didn’t obey the Lord. However, “if you return (repent, “teshuva”, “epistrepso” in Greek, walk back) to the Lord your God and obey His voice, according to all that I commanded you today, you and your children, with all your heart and with all your soul, then the Lord your God will bring you back from captivity, and have compassion on you, and gather you again from all the nations where the Lord your God has scattered you. If any of you are driven out to the farthest parts under heaven, from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there He will bring you.” Now this condition of repentance is of great importance, but the truth is that according to Ezekiel the prophet, God Himself understood that to wait for this stiff-necked nation to repent is not going to exactly work. The people that He chose are not an easy and pliable people, they are stiff necked. God therefore applied a second plan that He reveals to Ezekiel while he is still in Babylonian exile. God reveals to the prophet His plan “B”: “Therefore say to the house of Israel ‘Thus says the Lord God: “I do not do this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for My holy name’s sake, which you have profaned among the nations wherever you went. And I will sanctify My great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst; and the nations shall know that I am the Lord,” says the Lord God, “when I am hallowed in you before their eyes. For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land. Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. Then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; you shall be My people, and I will be your God.”’” – Ezekiel 36:22-28 [NKJV] This text is one of the greatest demonstrations of God’s grace and a revelation of God’s ability and willingness to show grace to a nation that is called rebellious and stiff-necked. God’s faithfulness to His plan and to the promises that He gave to our forefathers – Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob – is the demonstration and reason why He had this plan “B” to send His Son, Yeshua, and give us a new heart and a new spirit and clean us from our filthiness, by the highest price of all, sending His only-begotten son Yeshua to redeem us from our sins and to establish the kingdom of Heaven down here on this Earth. This is our prayer and our song to become partners with God, the Creator of this Universe, in the fulfilment and accomplishment of our return (repentance) and restoration. As we enter into this new season of repentance, according to the Jewish calendar of the year, let us first seek our own hearts and spirits and return to the Lord, not to church, not to our political parties, not to our religious clubs, but to the Lord! Let us hold on to the hand of Yeshua who will lead us back to the Lord as our (in Greek) “paraklētos” (advocate, counselor, helper). We, humans, can’t make that journey back to God alone, because we have gone so far away from the Lord, that we need that unique Servant of God, the Messiah, the one that fulfilled God’s promises made to Israel by the mouth and pen of Isaiah the prophet in chapter 53. Yes, dear brothers and sisters, the paradigm of repentance is in the Torah, but God’s grace has given us credit paid for by Him and Yeshua His Son, our Messiah to help us come back home spiritually and physically. We are already in the process! Praise the Lord and please use us weak and limited humans, whose hearts have been washed and circumcised, and who have dedicated our lives to Yeshua the son of God and our Savior! Use us Lord and make us tools in your arsenal for the salvation of Israel and the soon return of Yeshua back to Zion! Amen!
Let us pray for the Christian brothers and sisters who are left in Afghanistan in the hands of the Taliban. These brothers and sisters are in grave physical danger for their lives.
Please pray for the Asia Messianic Forum that is going on these days. Thursday September 2nd is the last day of this Forum that was started by our Japanese brothers 16 years ago.
It started in Japan with mainly Israeli brothers and Japanese participants. Today the Forum is virtual with Zoom, but we have hundreds of participants from most of the Asian countries.
Two of the speakers are still from the original team, Peter Tsukahira and myself, and we have the third speaker from Israel who is participating in the AMF for the first time. It is always a big joy and privilege to be a part of this major move of the Lord and the Holy Spirit for Asia and for Israel.
Please pray for this biannual conference and ask God to bless the people who have planned it and made it possible and bless Israel and the disciples of Yeshua in Asia!
The cruelty and carnage of innocent people in Kabul and in Afghanistan is going on although in a less public form, but our prayers go out for Afghanistan and especially for the Christians and foreigners who are stranded in Kabul.
Our dear friend Mahmud Abu-Eid’s sister Gouzlan is very sick, and I ask you to pray for Gouzlan and for Maria Mahmud’s daughter who is getting married in Bulgaria in a few weeks.
Please keep praying for Rebekka Becker’s mother and brother. Pray for a dear sister in Brazil, Artuza de Oliveira. Pray for a very dear family who now lives in Canada, Merv and Merla Watson. They are older and need a good portion of God’s grace for their lives now.
Keep the Israeli government in your prayers. The coronavirus is again raging in our land and the new mutations are spreading throughout the land. People are getting vaccinated with the third vaccine shot, but it will take some weeks for the situation to stabilize.
We must all pray that the Lord will stop this plague, and that first and foremost the Jews and the Christians who ought to know God and His laws and regulations must pray and repent and seek the Lord and beg for mercy, and ask the Lord to stop this plague, like He did every other plague that we read about in the Bible.
He can do it, and we must intercede and beg for God’s mercy over His world. This can only happen if the leadership of both Christians and Jews take to confession and repentance.
Next week is Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish traditional New Year Feast) and ten days later is Yom HaKippurim (The Day of Atonement) and four days later is the Feast of Tabernacles. Most of this month of September is holidays!
These holidays have great significance spiritually in this nation, because they focus on the judgment day, and on repentance for our sins, and finally celebration of God’s grace and a confession of our vulnerability in this physical world, and the need for our unity and cooperation with all segments of society, the good, the bad and the ugly (morally and criminally ugly).
There is nothing like this anywhere in the world except in the Jewish communities. As disciples of Yeshua we feel such a privilege to be a part of the restoration process back to the holy Word of God.
Pray and support Netivyah during these very hard times, for opportunities to do good and to bless and feed and support the population of Israel, those in need whose number has increased by many percentage points during these difficult days in Israel.
Our opportunities to do good and to be a blessing to the needy population in Jerusalem is a God-given opportunity of joy and privilege and it will be your opportunity to be a part of this great ministry that has been faithful and effective and generous to the poor of Jerusalem for near 30 years. Stand with us and enjoy the blessings!
The needs of Netivyah for more staff to be able to keep up with the amount of work and the challenges that take both time and money, and to keep up with the needs and the opportunities that God is putting in front of Netivyah.
With the coronavirus raging wild throughout the world, and in Israel, and with the threat of a new closure, Israel needs much prayer, and Netivyah needs your prayers and your support. We are doing our best not to cut the scholarship funds to Jewish and Arab disciples of Yeshua for study in the universities. We believe that building up the standard of our next generation of disciples is a priority.

We will have to cut more than 50 percent of the support for students for this next year’s academic year if the Lord does not use some of our brothers and sisters to help with this project. Netivyah has never gone into financial debt in 40 years of ministry, and we have no plan to go into debt for any project and not even this important investment in the future of the believers in Israel.
We have many dear brothers and sisters in both India and Brazil who are still very much in serious trouble with the coronavirus situation and need our prayers. We need to continue to pray for India and Brazil and especially for our dear brothers and sisters in these two countries.
The Lord answers prayers and hears the prayers of righteous people, but we must speak our prayers before the Lord for the sake of our brothers and sisters and for the sake of our countries and ministries. Even prayer for our enemies is a command of God’s Word.
So, pray for your personal enemies if you have any, and especially for Israel’s enemies and terrorist states like Iran, and the Hamas in Gaza, and the Hizballah in Gaza and Lebanon… This is important, because when you pray for the good of these enemies you are actually heaping hot coal on their head. (See Romans 12, the last verses.)

The Hamotzi food program is restarting with mostly new candidates provided by the city of Jerusalem. Our goal is to simply bless the needy of Jerusalem and make sure that those families with many children and old people, and single mothers, and others, both Jews and a few Arab families, have something fresh and good and healthy to eat. We need your prayers and your help to make this important purely humanitarian service possible. We are following the instruction of Paul in Romans 15:24-27.

Danah our daughter, needs much prayer for her health and her situation. Our granddaughter Noam has graduated from high school. She is looking for a job and looking for her path in life. Please pray for both Danah our daughter, and Noaam, our granddaughter.

Pray for Sister Yoko Nagumo in Japan. Sister Yoko had a stroke, and we pray that her recovery will be quick and complete.
From Chennai, India, please remember Pastor Isaac. Pastor Isaac is an older man with severe kidney problems and has to have dialysis several times per week. Remember Tony and Louisa Tam, and our brothers and sisters at the 611 Church, and the other churches who love God and love Israel in that great city. Remember in your prayers the Cohen family in Hong Kong.

Please pray for the Rantavaara family and especially for Pekka our dear brother and for his whole family. Pekka is in advanced stages of Parkinson and needs the Lord’s healing and strength.
I have just received a prayer request from a dear sister from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her father who is 70 years old and diabetic has contracted the COVID-19 virus. His name is Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias.
Please see your prayer as casting a vote for healing before the Lord and His angels in Heaven in favor of every brother and sister that you are praying for. Just a word of grace for all of us is a refreshing spirit. Take your prayers before the mercy seat of the Almighty to be heard in favor of those that you are lifting in prayer.

Ahuva. Please pray for a dear brother who is well into his 90’s and lost his wife a couple of weeks ago. His name is Dov H. Please keep in your prayers a dear sister who attends our congregation in Jerusalem. Her name is Hadassah and she just had cancer surgery. Pray for Hadassah for a full recovery and remission from any cancer in her body.
Pray for Israel. We are going through terrible riots and violence in the streets of Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv and other places around the country. These riots are motivated by the fact that much of the populace of Israel does not understand what the government is doing in relationship to the coronavirus pandemic.
I would like a new prayer request for a dear brother Yehuda Hochman who lives in the Negev Desert. Yehuda has to receive Dialysis treatment several times per week.

Please pray for our two grandchildren. They are both graduating in a few weeks from high school. They are both facing this important change in their lives. Noam our granddaughter also had her 18th birthday on May 1st. This was a very big day for Noam. She is free from high school and also from other obligations and is privileged to make her own decisions and choices in life. Pray for Noam on this major crossroad of life for her and ask the Lord to bless Noam and to give her clear direction and guidance for what is good and right and holy in her life.
Both Noam and Joseph, our two grandchildren, are extremely talented and good students. Both are “A” students and excellent young people, but both need divine protection and guidance to make good and smart and right choices for life.
When I was 18 years old and cut off from my family because of my faith in the Messiah, I had no one on my side and no one to guide me. The Lord’s providential leading and guidance was the only guide that I had. I praise the Lord for His goodness and direction in my life.
I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish! The best is yet to come!
