예루살렘 기도 목록 – 2021년 7월 15일

이번 안식일은 샤밧 하존(“환상”)이라고 부릅니다. 이 특별한 안식일에 이런 특별한 이름이 붙은 이유는 두 가지입니다. 첫 번째 이유는 선지서에서 읽는 부분인 이사야 1:1-27 때문입니다. 이 장의 처음 문구는 이렇습니다:
“유다 왕 웃시야와 요담과 아하스와 히스기야 시대에 아모스의 아들 이사야가 유다와 예루살렘에 관하여 본 계시라.” – 이사야 1:1 두 번째 이유는 이번 안식일이 아브월 9일 전날이기 때문입니다. 이 날은 히브리 달력에서 가장 예사롭지 않은 날 중 하나인데요, 제가 추측하기로 이 날은 인류 역사상 그 어느 민족에게서도 가장 예사롭지 않은 날일 것입니다. 토라에서는 모세오경의 마지막 책인 신명기(라틴어로 “두 번째 율법”)를 읽기 시작합니다. 신명기가 왜 “두 번째 율법”이라는 이름이 붙었을까요? 그 이유는 모세가 출애굽기, 레위기, 민수기의 율법의 주요 부분을 반복했기 때문입니다. 신명기에서는 앞에 있는 책들에 기록된 거의 모든 율법이 아주 다릅니다. 모세가 하나님께서 이스라엘에 영원한 유업으로 약속하신 땅을 멀찍이서 보러 산에 올라가기 전, 모세는 앞서 주신 율법의 많은 부분을 변경하여 반복합니다. 시내산 정상에서 주님께서 친히 말씀하여 주신 십계명조차 신명기에서는 약간 다릅니다. 이런 현상에 대한 설명을 이미 성경 안에 주셨습니다. “대제사장 힐기야가 서기관 사반에게 이르되 내가 여호와의 성전에서 율법책을 발견하였노라 하고 힐기야가 그 책을 사반에게 주니 사반이 읽으니라 서기관 사반이 왕에게 돌아가서 보고하여 이르되 왕의 신복들이 성전에서 찾아낸 돈을 쏟아 여호와의 성전을 맡은 감독자의 손에 맡겼나이다 하고 또 서기관 사반이 왕에게 말하여 이르되 제사장 힐기야가 내게 책을 주더이다 하고 사반이 왕의 앞에서 읽으매” – 열왕기하 22:8-10 열왕기하 22:8-10에 따르면, 요시야왕은 이스라엘에서 큰 종교개혁을 하여 모든 종교 관행 심지어 그 땅의 제단들의 크기까지도 바꾸고 누가 성전에서 섬길 수 있는지에 관한 관행도 바꿉니다. 모든 종교적 관행에 관한 것이 바뀐 것은 신명기에 따른 것입니다. 주요 변화는 예루살렘에서만 예배드리는 예배의 중앙화와, 이스라엘의 하나님께 예배하기 위해 사용된 그 땅의 다른 모든 곳을 멸하고 훼파한 것입니다. 선지서에서 읽은 말씀 역시 선지서에서 가장 강력한 장 중 하나인 이사야 1장입니다. 신약성경에서 읽는 부분은 사도행전 9:1-21입니다. 저는 선지서에서 읽는 부분인 이사야 1장에 집중하고 싶은 유혹이 있지만, 신명기 1~3장에서 몇 마디해야 할 것 같습니다. 모세는 직접 이제 곧 일어나려 하는 일을 설명합니다: “모세가 요단 저쪽 모압 땅에서 이 율법을 설명하기 시작하였더라 일렀으되 우리 하나님 여호와께서 호렙 산에서 우리에게 말씀하여 이르시기를 너희가 이 산에 거주한 지 오래니 방향을 돌려 행진하여 아모리 족속의 산지로 가고 그 근방 곳곳으로 가고 아라바와 산지와 평지와 네겝과 해변과 가나안 족속의 땅과 레바논과 큰 강 유브라데까지 가라.” – 신명기 1:5-7 본문 말씀에 따르면, 모세는 이스라엘 진영과 함께 요단강을 건너가지 않을 것과, 이스라엘 땅의 환경과 상황이 이스라엘 자손이 이 큰 이동 전에 경험한 모든 것과 완전히 새롭고 다를 것이라는 것을 압니다. 그래서 그는 그들에게 하나님께서 시내산에서 그들에게 주신 율법을 재해석해주고 있습니다. 모세에 따르면, 이렇게 율법을 주는 것은 이스라엘 민족이 다른 모든 보통의 나라들처럼 하나님께서 주신 그들의 영토에서 영구히 정주하는 보통의 나라로 살아가도록 구비시키기 위한 것입니다. 이 때문에 그들의 종교적 절차와 관행이 그들의 새로운 환경에 맞도록, 시내광야에서 이스라엘에 주신 율법을 약간 조정하여 변경할 필요가 있었습니다. 모세가 깨달은 첫 번째 것 중 하나는 그가 이 백성을 혼자서 이끌어갈 수 없었다는 것이고 그래서 그들이 그 땅에 들어갈 때 행정 조직이 있어야 할 필요가 있다는 것이었습니다. “너희의 각 지파에서 지혜와 지식이 있는 인정 받는 자들을 택하라 내가 그들을 세워 너희 수령을 삼으리라 한즉 너희가 내게 대답하여 이르기를 당신의 말씀대로 하는 것이 좋다 하기에 내가 너희 지파의 수령으로 지혜가 있고 인정 받는 자들을 취하여 너희의 수령을 삼되 곧 각 지파를 따라 천부장과 백부장과 오십부장과 십부장과 조장을 삼고” – 신명기 1:13-15 이제 하프타라, 이사야 1장으로 가고자 합니다. 제게는 이사야 1장만큼 중요한 장들이 별로 없습니다. 흥분의 이유는 하나님께서 여기에서 우리에게 우리의 종교적 관행과 예배와 제사와 절기와 기도와 사실 모든 종교제도, 전 세계의 회당, 교회 및 다른 모든 소위 “예배처소”에 대한 그분의 진짜 심정을 맛보게 해주시기 때문입니다. 하나님과 우리의 신앙을 위해 가장 손쉽게 할 수 있는 일이 건물, 성전, 예배처소, “거룩한 장소”를 세우는 것입니다. 두 번째로 손쉽게 할 수 있는 일은 “거룩한 사람”, “랍비”, “목사”, “주술사” 등 온갖 영적 지도자들을 임명하여 이들을 모세나 다윗왕의 자리에 두거나, 최소한 그들에게 사도의 권위를 부여하는 것입니다. 세 번째로 손쉽게 할 수 있는 일은 아주 멋진 재능이 있는 음악가들과 춤추는 사람들과 환경미화와 훌륭한 음향시설을 가지고 쇼를 할 줄 하는 준-직업 예배인도자들을 구성하는 것입니다. 이 모든 것들은 아주 잘하는 배우들과 성악가들과 무대 가구에 투자하여 멋지게 할 수 있고 잘 조율할 수 있습니다. 앞에서도 말씀드렸듯이, 이것들은 교회들이 거기에 투자하고 싶어하고 이런 것들이 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 것들이라고 믿고 싶어하는 것들입니다. 그러나 이사야 1장과 사도행전 17장과 예레미야 7:21-23과 호세아 6:6과 성경의 다른 많은 구절들은 우리에게 다르게 말합니다. 혹 사도행전 17:24-29의 바울의 말을 빌자면, “우주와 그 가운데 있는 만물을 지으신 하나님께서는 천지의 주재시니 손으로 지은 전에 계시지 아니하시고 또 무엇이 부족한 것처럼 사람의 손으로 섬김을 받으시는 것이 아니니 이는 만민에게 생명과 호흡과 만물을 친히 주시는 이심이라 인류의 모든 족속을 한 혈통으로 만드사 온 땅에 살게 하시고 그들의 연대를 정하시며 거주의 경계를 한정하셨으니 이는 사람으로 혹 하나님을 더듬어 찾아 발견하게 하려 하심이로되 그는 우리 각 사람에게서 멀리 계시지 아니하도다 우리가 그를 힘입어 살며 기동하며 존재하느니라 너희 시인 중 어떤 사람들의 말과 같이 우리가 그의 소생이라 하니 이와 같이 하나님의 소생이 되었은즉 하나님을 금이나 은이나 돌에다 사람의 기술과 고안으로 새긴 것들과 같이 여길 것이 아니니라.” – 사도행전 17:24-29 요약컨대 우리는 모두 우리의 삶과 하나님과의 관계를 훨씬 더 개인적이고 친밀한 것으로 새롭게 하고 다시 초점을 맞추고 강조점을 두어야 합니다. 이것이 하나님께서 우리에게서 원하시는 것이며 이사야 1장 끝에서 우리에게 권면하는 것입니다. 저는 의도적으로 인용하지 않으려 합니다. 저는 여러분이 이사야 1장으로 가서 처음부터 끝까지 읽고 5분 동안 묵상하며 여러분이 소중히 여기는 창조주와의 관계가 있는 곳을 찾아냈으면 좋겠습니다. 여러분이 여러분에게는 아무 곳도 없고, 여러분이 하나님과의 진짜 개인적인 믿음이나 관계 없이 매우 종교적이었다는 결론에 이르렀다면, 부디 성경을 창세기부터 한 절 한 절 읽어 내려가며 15분마다 멈추고 “하나님 제가 주님을 더 잘 알도록 도와주세요!” 기도하시기 바랍니다. 하나님께는 수천의 천사들이 있어 밤낮으로 천상의 목소리로 그분을 찬양하며 그분께 엎드려 경배한다는 것을 기억하십시오. 네, 우리는 하나님께 예배해야 합니다! 네, 우리는 그분께 찬양을 불러드려야 합니다! 네, 우리는 그분의 영광과 그분의 자녀로서 우리의 정체성을 위해 우리의 삶과 돈과 시간과 재능과 은사를 바쳐야 합니다! 그러나 이 모든 것은 관계에 근거하여 믿음으로 해야 합니다. 하나님께서는 돈이나 아름다운 건물이나 금이나 은과 같은 선물로 살 수 있는 매춘부가 아님을 기억하십시오. 저의 노골적 표현을 용서하시기 바랍니다. 그러나 요는 이것이 바울, 예레미야, 이사야, 호세아가 말하고 있는 것이라는 점입니다! 저는 이것을 보통 사람이 이해할 수 있는 말로 풀어놓은 것입니다. 우리 기도가 천장을 뚫고 그 위로 올라가지 않는다고 느껴진다면, 우리 모두가 해야 할 일은 이스라엘의 전능하신 하나님과 우리 메시아 예슈아와의 관계를 바꾸어 나아지게 하기 위해 우리가 할 수 있는 일이 뭔지 우리 자신에게 물어보는 것입니다. 저는 여러분이 기도와 하나님의 말씀을 읽음으로써 그 답을 찾을 수 있을 것이라고 확신합니다!

The Jerusalem Prayer List – July 15, 2021

This Shabbat is called Shabbat Chazon (“Vision”). There are two reasons for this special name for this special Shabbat. The first reason is that the reading from the prophets is from Isaiah chapter 1:1-27. The first words of this chapter are,
“The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.” – Isaiah 1:1 The second reason is that this Shabbat is the day before the 9th day of the month of Av. This day is one of the most unusual days in the Hebrew calendar, and my guess is that it is the most unusual day in any calendar of any nation in the history of mankind. From the Torah we are starting the reading of the last book of the Pentateuch (The five books of Moses) the book of Deuteronomy (in Latin “The Second Law”). Why is the book of Deuteronomy named “Second Law”? The reason is that Moses repeats a major part of laws from the books of Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers. In Deuteronomy almost every law written in the earlier books is very different. Before Moses goes up the mountain to see from afar the land promised by the Lord to Israel as an eternal inheritance, Moses repeats many of the laws given earlier with changes. Even the Ten Commandments that were spoken by the Lord Himself from the top of Mount Sinai are a little different in Deuteronomy. The explanation for this phenomenon is already given in the Bible itself. “Then Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe, ‘I have found the Book of the Law in the house of the Lord.’ And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it. So Shaphan the scribe went to the king, bringing the king word, saying, ‘Your servants have gathered the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of those who do the work, who oversee the house of the Lord.’ Then Shaphan the scribe showed the king, saying, ‘Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.’ And Shaphan read it before the king.” – 2 Kings 22:8-10 [NKJV] According to 2 Kings 22:8-10, King Josiah makes a major religious reform in Israel that adjusts all the religious practices even the size of the altars in the land and even the practice of who can serve in the Temple. Just about every religious practice is changed according to the book of Deuteronomy. The major change was the centralization of the worship in Jerusalem only and the destruction and defiling of every other place in the land that was used for worship of the God of Israel. The reading from the prophets is also one of the strongest chapters in the prophets, Isaiah chapter 1. From the New Testament it is Acts 9:1-21. I am tempted to concentrate on the reading from the prophets, Isaiah chapter 1, but I have to say a few words from Deuteronomy chapter 1-3. Moses himself explains what is about to happen now: “On this side of the Jordan in the land of Moab, Moses began to explain this law, saying, ‘The Lord our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying: “You have dwelt long enough at this mountain. Turn and take your journey, and go to the mountains of the Amorites, to all the neighboring places in the plain, in the mountains and in the lowland, in the South and on the seacoast, to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the River Euphrates.”’” – Deuteronomy 1:5-7 [NKJV] According to the text, Moses knows that he is not going to cross the Jordan river with the camp of Israel and that the conditions and situation in the land of Israel will be totally new and different from all that the children of Israel have experienced before this mega move. So, he is giving them a reinterpretation of the law that God gave them at Mt. Sinai. According to Moses ,this giving of the law is for the equipping of the nation of Israel to live as a normal nation in permanent dwellings on their own God-given territory like every other normal nation. For this the laws given to Israel in the desert of Sinai need slight tweaking and adjustments to make their religious orders and practices fit their new circumstances. One of the first things that Moses realizes is that he couldn’t lead these people alone and therefore as they enter the land there needs to be in place administration, “‘Choose wise, understanding, and knowledgeable men from among your tribes, and I will make them heads over you.’ And you answered me and said, ‘The thing which you have told us to do is good.’ So I took the heads of your tribes, wise and knowledgeable men, and made them heads over you, leaders of thousands, leaders of hundreds, leaders of fifties, leaders of tens, and officers for your tribes.’” – Deuteronomy 1:13-15 [NKJV] Now I would like to go to the Haftarah, the reading from Isaiah chapter 1. There are few chapters that are as important to me as Isaiah chapter 1. The reason for the excitement is that God here gives us a taste of His real attitude toward our religious practices, worship, sacrifices, holidays, prayer, and in fact all of what religious institutions, synagogues, churches, and all other so called “places of worship” the whole world over. The easiest thing to do for God and for our faith is to build buildings, temples, places of worship, “holy places.” The second easiest thing to do is to appoint a “holy man,” “rabbi,” “pastor,” “juju man” spiritual leaders of every possible kind, and to place these men in the place of Moses, and King David, or at least to endow them with the authority of the apostles… The third thing that is also easy to do is to create semi-professional worship leaders that know how to make a show with wonderfully talented musicians, dancers, decoration, wonderful sound systems. All these things are wonderful and well-orchestrated and invested with both good actors and singers and stage furniture. As I said above, these are the things that churches like to invest in and like to believe that these are the things that please God. But Isaiah chapter 1, and Acts chapter 17, and Jeremiah 7:21-23, Hosea 6:6, and many other places in the Bible tell us differently. Or to put it in the words of Paul, from Acts 17:24-29: “God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, “For we are also His offspring.’ Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising.” – Acts 17:24-29 [NKJV] In summary we all need to refresh and refocus and put the emphasis on our life and relationship with God as a much more personal and intimate thing. This is what God wants from us, this is what the end of chapter 1 of Isaiah recommends to us. On purpose I don’t want to keep quoting. I want you to go and read Isaiah chapter 1 from the beginning to the end of this chapter and spend five minutes in meditation and seek to locate where your treasured relationship with the Creator is. If you come to the conclusion that you don’t have any, that you have been very religious but without real personal faith in and a relationship with God, please start reading the Bible from Genesis, verse after verse, after 15 minutes stop and pray: “God please help me to know you better!” Remember that God has many thousands of angels with angelic voices singing His praises and prostrating themselves by day and night before Him in worship. Yes, we must worship God! Yes, we must sing His praises!Yes, we must sacrifice our lives, our money, our time, and our talents and gifts for His glory and for our identity as God’s children! But it all must be done from faith and based on a relationship. Remember that God is not a prostitute that can be purchased with money or beautiful buildings or gifts of gold or silver… Please forgive me for my crudeness but essentially this is what Paul, Jeremiah, Isaiah, and Hosea are saying! I am just interpreting it in a language that the common man can understand. The thing that we all need to do if we feel that our prayers don’t rise above our ceiling is to ask ourselves what we can do to change and improve our relationship with the Almighty God of Israel and with Yeshua our Messiah. I am sure that through prayer and reading the word of God you will find the answer!
The Netivyah staff has a special prayer request. We need more staff. Our staff is overloaded with work, with the Hamotzi food program, the teachings on Facebook, and the need to modernize our access to the media that the young generation is using. Please pray for Netivyah and for the Ro’eh Israel Congregation in Jerusalem.
We have a dear brother who is the leader of our partner congregation in Curitiba, Brazil, who is in the hospital with complications from the coronavirus. Please pray for our dear brother Jair Amaral, pray for his doctors, and for all those who care and serve Jair in the hospital. It is critical, and we need the Lord to respond with healing for Jair.
Marcia my dear wife needs special prayer because we are getting ready for a second cataract surgery on her right eye. The surgery on the left eye was successful and healing. Please pray for Marcia’s energy level and the rheumatoid arthritis, and the diabetes.
Please pray for Yehudah and his family. They are traveling to Holland to visit family. Pray for their safety from all harm and especially for staying free from the coronavirus. Keep praying for Daniel from our staff and ask God for guidance and wisdom and protection from all harm for him and his family. Please pray for Nir and his family as they are traveling in the USA and need the Lord’s protection from the coronavirus and for a safe return home. Nancy, our dear sister who is a member of the Netivyah staff, is also traveling in the USA and needs the Lord’s protection from the coronavirus.
Marcia’s mother is 91 years old and her condition (lung cancer) has become very serious. Her name is June. Please pray for June, Marcia’s mother, prayer that the Lord’s mercy and grace be present and act for June’s comfort and no pain.
Our dear friend Mahmud’s sister Gouzlan is very sick and I ask you to pray for Gouzlan and also for Maria, Mahmud’s daughter who is getting married in Bulgaria in a few weeks. I am adding Mahmud’s mother and his son Jimmy to this prayer list.
Also, I have been asked to add the mother of Rebekka our dear sister, to our prayers. Pray for Livia Schnell Nothen and for Guilherme Antonio Nothen Becker. Guilherme is in serious health condition. We are also praying for Artuza de Oliveira a dear sister in Brazil and our dear brother Merv who is now living in Canada after more than 30 years of living in Jerusalem and being a member of our congregation.
Pray and support Netivyah during these very hard times, for opportunities to do good and to bless and feed and support the population of Israel, those in need whose number has increased by many percentage points during these difficult days in Israel.
We have a praise report from our dear sister Rita Sassai from Brazil. Rita is back home recovering from the coronavirus. Please keep praying for this dear sister.
Our Sarit from Jerusalem is out of the hospital and back home. Please keep praying for her.
We have many dear brothers and sisters in both India and Brazil who are still very much in serious trouble with the coronavirus situation and need our prayers. We need to continue to pray for India and Brazil and especially for our dear brothers and sisters in these two countries.
Please keep praying for our dear brother in India, Pastor Isaac, and sister Sheela Stephen.

We pray for the Lord to provide a young leader for our youth. Our youth ministry is one of our pride and joys, and we want to invest more and do more with our youth.

You can also subscribe to receive the Teaching from Zion Magazine by mail, a hard copy. This too is free of charge. The Lord has always been faithful to supply our needs. He has also been precise and provided what we need, not too little and not too much.
The Hamotzi food program is restarting with mostly new candidates provided by the city of Jerusalem. Our goal is to simply bless the needy of Jerusalem and make sure that those families with many children and old people, and single mothers, and others, both Jews and a few Arab families, have something fresh and good and healthy to eat. We need your prayers and your help to make this important purely humanitarian service possible. We are following the instruction of Paul in Romans 15:24-27.
Please pray for Netivyah and for the Netivyah leadership and find ways to partner and participate in the great blessing that the ministry of Netivyah is here in Israel and also around the world. Please pray and seek ways to partner and contribute financially for the Lord’s work in Netivyah Bible Instruction Ministry.
Both Yehuda and I continue to teach on Zoom and on YouTube and on the Netivyah Facebook every week and sometimes every day. Please pray for these teachings to bear fruit for the Kingdom of God. Enjoy the very fine teaching and enjoy learning from God’s Word. It is all free of charge!
