이집트 감옥의 지하에서 바로의 궁전까지. 가난에서 부유함으로! 보디발의 집 안주인에 의해 성희롱 혐의로 거짓 고소된 노예에서 바로의 떡 굽는 관원장(술 맡은 관원장)이 옥에서 나가 이전의 영광을 회복하는 것을 알리는 꿈을 해석해 주는 사람이 되기까지. 요셉의 이런 경이로운 인물됨은 저에게 기쁨의 눈물을 흘리게 만듭니다. 사랑하는 형제자매님들, 여러분도 아시다시피, 저도 메시아 예슈아를 믿고 침례를 받았다는 이유로 제 가족에게서 쫓겨났었습니다. 저는 또 제 나라에서 미국 조지아 주 오커퍼노키 습지의 변두리로 보내지기도 했습니다. 요셉의 이야기는 성경에서 아주 여러 번 반복되며, 우리 믿음의 아주 많은 영웅들이 비슷한 거절을 경험했으며 돌아와서는 이스라엘을 구하기 위해 하나님의 손의 도구가 되었습니다. 다윗 왕 자신도 그의 형들에게서 무시당하고 거절당했고, 오직 하나님만 그의 편인 채 홀로 남겨졌었지만, 블레셋의 거인 골리앗에게서 이스라엘을 구하고, 이스라엘의 가장 중요한 왕이 되었습니다. 자신의 피붙이 형제들에 의해 너무나 혹사당하고 학대받았지만 결코 포기하지도, 우울해 하지도, 자기의 갈 길을 잃지도 않았던 사람에게는 영감을 주는 무언가가 있습니다. 요셉은 거꾸로 된 이 세상에서 어떻게 살아남을 수 있는지 배울 수 있는 사람입니다. 이번 안식일 토라 포션은 창세기 41:1~44:17이며, 하프타라(선지서에서 읽는 부분)는 열왕기상 3:15~4:1, 신약성경에서는 로마서 10:1-13를 읽습니다. 읽는 세 부분 모두의 메시지는 하나님의 사람들과 하나님의 백성이 학대받고, 추락하고, 억압당하던 상태에서 구원의 높은 곳으로 올라 많은 사람들의 구원과 구속을 위한 하나님 손의 도구가 될 수 있다는 것입니다. 저는 하나님께서 바로에게 주신 꿈을 면밀히 살펴보고 싶습니다. 그 꿈은 아름답고 살진 일곱 암소가 흉하고 파리한 일곱 암소에게 먹힌 이야기입니다. 약자가 승리를 거두고 강자를 멸하는 패러다임은 성경과, 특히 유대인과 이스라엘 국가 역사에서 중요한 주제입니다. 우리는 수전절인 하누카 절기를 축하하는 한가운데에 있습니다. 하누카는 소수의 약자들이 다수의 강자를 이긴 승리를 축하하는 절기입니다. 그것은 오늘날의 텔 아비브 근처 벤 구리온 공항에서 멀지 않은 모데인 마을의 한 제사장 가문이, 잔인하고 강한 셀레우코스 왕조(알렉산더 대왕의 제국의 일부를 물려받은 그리스인들) 제국에 대해 반란의 깃발을 치켜들기 위해 한 일입니다. 마타티아스 가족은 모데인에서 그리스 셀레우코스 왕조에 맞서 행동했습니다. 요셉의 이야기처럼, 불가능은, 하나님의 의를 믿는 순전한 믿음의 능력과 하나님의 약속에 대한 고집스러운 믿음과 의뢰를 통해 가능해졌습니다. 약자들이 셀레우코스 왕 안티오쿠스 에피파네스의 대군을 상대로 승리를 거두었습니다. 요셉이 구덩이에 있을 때 말한 것과 똑같은 신앙의 힘, 하나님께서 결국 승리하신다, “포기하지 말고 강해지라!”는, 마타티아스의 다섯 아들과 소수의 유대 게릴라 전사들에게 셀레우코스의 군대를 예루살렘에서 쫓아낼 수 있게 한, 하나님을 믿는 믿음에서 비롯된 힘, 능력입니다. 그들은 예루살렘과 성전을 되찾아 다시 유대인의 손에 오게 하고, 우상에게 제사 지냄으로 가증했던 성전과 제단을 정화하고 예루살렘 성전에서 이스라엘 하나님께 제사 드리는 것을 회복시켰습니다. 요셉은 마타티아스와 그의 다섯 아들처럼, 삶이 아무리 힘들고 어렵더라도 주님께서 궁극적으로 다스리시며 그분의 약속들이 성취될 것을 알았습니다. 메시아 예슈아의 유대인 제자인 우리가 하나님과 메시아 예슈아를 믿는 믿음이 있다고 말할 때 “믿음”이라는 단어는 무엇을 의미합니까? 우리가 신봉하는 어떤 교리를 의미합니까, 아니면 우리가 지금 당장 눈에 보이지 않는 것을 보고, 하나님의 입으로 선지자들을 통해 우리에게 전해진 그 비전을, 하나님의 약속의 성취를 기대하며 우리의 눈을 돌리고, 고집스러운 끈기로, 세상과 현재의 현실에 저항하는 도도한 힘으로 만드는 능력을 의미합니까? 불과 몇 주 전에 저는 100세지만 아직도 상당히 힘이 넘치는 하나님의 사람인 아주 유명한 초정통유대교 랍비를 방문했는데요, 그는 제2차 세계대전 중 나치 독일의 죽음의 수용소에서 살아남은 분이었습니다. 그 랍비는 그와 700명의 유태인 남성들이 수용되었던 막사에 대해 이야기했습니다. 이 막사는 500명만 수용할 수 있는 공간이었습니다. 그 죽음의 수용소에 있는 이 유대인들은 아주 적은 음식을 먹으며 하루에 많은 시간 고되게 일하기도 했기에, 이기적인 동물처럼 행동할지, 아니면 함께 일하며 살아남아 그 지옥에서 그들을 구원하시는 하나님의 손길을 볼 것인지 결정해야 했습니다. 이 랍비가 있던 막사에는 예슈아를 믿는 정통 유대인이 있었습니다. 그 유대인의 이름은 마이어의 아들인 조셉 박터였습니다. 이 랍비는 모든 사람이 한 사람처럼 단합하여 함께 일하고, 모두가 살아남는 것을 보고, 그들의 약함 중에 승리를 보는 것이 옳은 일이라고 판단했습니다. 왜냐하면 하나님께서는 신실하시어 그분의 약속을 지키실 것이기 때문입니다. 요셉이 버려지고 이집트에 노예로 보내지고, 또 거기서 감옥으로 보내졌다가, 결국에는 바로 다음의 2인자가 되기까지 가장 힘들고 가장 어려운 순간들마다 그을 지탱해준 것은 이런 종류의 믿음입니다. 이것은 요셉이 그에게 죄를 짓고 그를 너무 싫어하여 그에게 “샬롬”조차 말하지 않았을 바로 그 형들에게 복수나 보복을 모색하지 않았던 그런 믿음의 힘입니다. 그렇습니다, 요셉은 음식을 구하기 위해 이집트로 내려온 형들을 알아보았지만, 자기의 감정을 통제하며, 하나님께서 이런 상황을 가지고 어떻게 하실 것인지 보려고 하나님께 자기의 욕망을 억제하고 자제력을 유지하게 도와주시도록 해드렸습니다. 언제나 이 세상의 악을 이기게 하는 것은 바로 이런 믿음입니다. 역사가들은 로마 제국을 무너뜨린 무기는 순교자의 피였다고 말했습니다. 3세기 교부 중 한 명인 터툴리안은 이렇게 말했습니다: “순교자의 피가 교회의 씨다!” 다음은 우리가 요셉의 이야기에서 배워야 할 가장 중요한 세 가지이며, 그것은 우리 주 예슈아께도 적용됩니다: 첫째, 하나님께서 개인적으로든 집단적으로든 여러분에게 어떤 약속을 주시면, 굳건히 있으며, 온 마음과 영혼과 존재로 그 약속을 믿으십시오. 하나님께서는 그분의 약속을 지키십니다. 온갖 불만과 생존의 문제를 가지고 이스라엘에 있는 저희는 하나님께서 그분의 약속을 지키고 계시며, 디아스포라 망명자들이 고향 이 땅으로 돌아오고 있고, 이 곳이 번성하고 있음을 보여주는 산 증인입니다. 그렇습니다, 문제도 있고 상상할 수 있는 온갖 종류의 어려움도 있지만, 도시들이 건설되고 있으며 이스라엘은 물리적, 기술적, 영적, 과학적으로 세상에 기여했으며, 저는 심지어 도덕적으로도 기여했다고 말할 수 있을 것 같습니다. 아우슈비츠, 베르겐-벨젠, 트레블링카, 그 외 죽음의 수용소의 화장터의 잿더미에서부터 세워진 국가 이스라엘을 보십시오. 교회에 가서 예수 이름으로 기도했던 기독교인들의 손에 죽은 사람들은 지금 하늘의 전당에서 주님의 천사들과 함께 기뻐하고 즐거워하며 시온의 노래와 시편에 맞춰 춤을 추고 있습니다. 반면에 기독교인이라고 고백하던 저들은 큰 구렁텅이의 반대편에서 나사로에게 와서 찬물을 한 방울 떨어뜨려 그들의 혀를 식혀달라고 간청하고 있습니다. 무죄였지만 거짓 고소로 옥에 갇혔던 요셉은 바로의 궁전에 있고, 이집트의 모든 사람들은 그의 명령에 따르며 이스라엘의 이 아들에게 감사를 표했습니다. 요셉이 말을 타고 높이 올랐을 때 보디발의 아내는 어디에서, 뭘 하고 있었을까요! 바로가 요셉이 2인자이며 온 애굽의 경제와 식량 공급을 담당할 것이라고 공표할 때 보디발은 뭘 하고 있었을까요! 둘째, 여러분의 냉정을 유지하며 여러분이 비참한 중에도 다른 사람들에게 도움이 되고 유익이 되며 복이 되도록 최선을 다하는 것이 현명한 일입니다. 가난한 중에도 내어주며, 여러분이 가진 작은 것조차 나누며, 특히, 인생의 어려운 순간을 겪고 있을 때에도 이기적이거나 자기중심적이 되지 마십시오. 우리가 저지르는 실수는 우리가 조금 가지고 있을 때, 우리는 그것을 더 꼭 붙들고 우리 주변에 더 불운하고 더 곤궁한 사람들을 무시한다는 것입니다. 우리 주 예슈아께서는 예루살렘 성전에서 다음과 같이 가르치셨습니다: “예수께서 눈을 들어 부자들이 헌금함에 헌금 넣는 것을 보시고 또 어떤 가난한 과부가 두 렙돈 넣는 것을 보시고 이르시되 내가 참으로 너희에게 말하노니 이 가난한 과부가 다른 모든 사람보다 많이 넣었도다 저들은 그 풍족한 중에서 헌금을 넣었거니와 이 과부는 그 가난한 중에서 자기가 가지고 있는 생활비 전부를 넣었느니라 하시니라.” – 누가복음 21:1-4 마지막으로, 우리 모두는 인내심을 가져야 합니다. 요셉처럼 고난을 겪으면서도 자제하며, 우리에게 닥친 고난 때문에 하나님이나 동료 사람들에게 화를 내지 않을 수 있는 능력은, 요셉의 위대한 은사 중 하나입니다. 우리가 이용당하고 있고 삶은 공평하지 않으며 이 세상에는 희망이 없고 정의는 결코 이뤄지지 않을 것이라는 감정은 매우 파괴적이고 해를 끼치며, 지옥의 구덩이에서 바로 우리를 공격하는 이러한 감정에서는 아무런 좋은 것이 나오지 않습니다. 우리는 하나님의 약속을 신뢰하고, 그분의 심판 때조차도 그분의 정의를 신뢰하는 소망의 자녀가 되어야 합니다. 저는 19세기 말 프랑스에서 발생한 알프레드 드레퓌스 사건을 생각합니다. 프랑스 육군의 한 미혼 유태인 장교가 반유태주의자였던 일부 동료 장교들에 의해 독일을 위해 밀정질을 했다는 혐의로 거짓 고소되었습니다. 그의 친구들 중 누구도 그를 도우러 오거나 그의 편에 서지 않았습니다. 그런데, 가장 예상치 못한 프랑스의 외딴 곳에서 도움이 왔는데요, 작가이자 출판가인 에밀 졸라가 “나는 고발한다!”라는 기사를 게재한 것입니다. 졸라는 악마의 섬 프랑스령 기아나에서 알프레드 드레퓌스를 구하고, 악마의 섬에서 살아나올 수조차 있을까 아무런 희망이 없었던, 거짓으로 고소당했던 그 유대인을 해방시켰습니다. 졸라의 기사 덕분에 그는 혐의를 벗고 그의 계급으로 복원되었습니다. 졸라는 1901년에 첫 번째, 1902년에 두 번째 노벨 문학상에 지명되었습니다. 그렇습니다, 사랑하는 형제자매 여러분, 요셉 이야기 같은 이야기가 역사에서도 일어나며, 요셉 이야기 같이 가장 극적이고 삽화 같은 이야기가 하나님의 아들, 이스라엘의 메시아, 구세주, 시온으로 재림하는 메시아, 나사렛 예슈아의 이야기입니다. 그렇습니다, “그는 멸시를 받아 사람들에게 버림 받았으며 간고를 많이 겪었으며 질고를 아는 자라 마치 사람들이 그에게서 얼굴을 가리는 것 같이 멸시를 당하였고 우리도 그를 귀히 여기지 아니하였도다.” – 이사야 53:3 지금, 바로 그 예슈아께서는 우리 우주의 창조주, 이스라엘의 전능하신 하나님의 오른편에 영광 중에 앉아 계십니다! 예슈아께서 영광 중에 예루살렘으로 재림하실 때, 모든 무릎이 꿇고 모든 입이 그분께서 영광의 왕임을 고백하게 될 것입니다. 저는 전심으로 이것을 믿으며, 그 일이 일어날 때 예루살렘에서 살아 있기를 바라며 기다리고 있습니다! 여러분도 이 약속을 믿으며 이 일이 더 속히 곧 우리 시대에 일어나도록 여러분과 여러분이 가진 모든 것을 사용하시라고 여러분의 삶과 모든 존재를 그분의 손에 드림으로 그 일이 일어나는 것을 볼 준비를 하고 있기를 바랍니다! 우리가 예슈아께서 예루살렘으로 돌아오실 것을 정말로 정말로 믿고, 전 세계 메시아의 몸이 “구약전서”에도 “신약전서”에도 나오는 이 진리의 약속을 믿는다면, 이스라엘 예루살렘에 있는 예슈아의 유대인 제자인 우리의 처지는 마땅히 안전하고 훌륭할 뿐일 것이며, 예루살렘을 메시아를 영접할 준비가 되어 있는 곳으로 만드는 것은 우리에게 달려 있을 것입니다! 예슈아를 영접하기 위해 우리가 어떻게 우리 자신과 예루살렘을 준비시켜야 하는지에 대해 우리는 또 다른 경우에 글을 쓰고 이야기해야 할 것입니다. 이스라엘의 아들 요셉에게서 배우도록 합시다. 그는 외적으로는 형들이 알아보지 못하는 이집트인이었지만, 내면으로는 하나님께서 아브라함에게 약속한 아들 이삭의 손자이며, 라헬과 이스라엘의 아들 요셉이었습니다!

벨로-오리손떼의 귀한 형제님이자 목사님인 호르헤 목사님도 호흡기 증상으로 병원에 입원해 있습니다. 여러분의 기도에 이 형제자매님들을 하나님의 보좌 앞에 올려드려 주시고 긍휼과 치유를 위해 중보해 주시기 바랍니다.
우리의 귀한 케이조 린드만 형제님은 퇴원하여 핀란드 노키아 집에 있습니다. 병원 측의 실수로 케이조 형제님은 거의 죽을 뻔했지만, 주님께 찬양드리는 것은 케이조 형제님이 집에서 회복 중이기 때문입니다. 이제는 그의 아내 살메 자매님이 건강 때문에 우리의 기도가 필요합니다. 하나님의 나라에서 위대하고 훌륭하고 중요한 이들 케이조와 살메 형제자매님을 위해 기도해 주시기 바랍니다.

스스로 분열한 그 어떤 집도 생존할 수 없습니다. 저는 메시아께서 곧 오셔서 그분의 발을 올리브산에 딛으시고 지구에 평화와 온 인류에 호의를 선포하시도록 기도합니다!

The Jerusalem Prayer List – December 2, 2021

I really can’t help myself getting emotional when I read this portion of the Torah. It is not only because it is speaking of Joseph in Egypt becoming second to Pharaoh himself.
From the dungeons of the Egyptian jails to the palaces of Pharaoh. From poverty to riches! From being a slave, falsely accused of sexual harassment by the mistress of the house of Potiphar the Priest of On, to the one who interprets a dream as indicating the restoration of Pharaoh’s chief baker back to his former glory and out of jail. This phenomenal character of Joseph inspires me to tears of joy. You see dear brothers and sisters; I was also rejected by my family for believing in Yeshua the Messiah, and being baptized. I was also sent out of my country to the edges of the Okefenokee Swamp in the state of Georgia in the United States. The story of Joseph is repeated so many times in the Bible, and so many of the heroes of our faith experienced similar rejection and returned and became instruments in God’s hand to save Israel. King David himself was ignored and rejected by his brothers and left alone with only God on His side, and saved Israel from the Philistine giant Goliath, and became the most important king of Israel. There is something inspiring about a man who was so mistreated and so abused by his own flesh and blood brothers but he never gave up and never got depressed nor lost his way. Joseph is someone to learn from how about how to survive in this upside-down world. Our portion of the Torah starts in Genesis 41:1 - 44:17, and the Haftarah (the reading from the prophets) comes this Shabbat from 1 Kings 3:15 - 4:1. From the New Testament we read this Shabbat from Romans 10:1-13. The message of all these readings is that from being abused, fallen, downtrodden, the men of God and the people of God can rise into the heights of salvation and become tools in His hands for the salvation and redemption of the multitudes. I would like to look closely at the dream that God gave Pharaoh. The dream is speaking of seven cows that were fat and fertile that were devoured by seven that were skinny and poor. This paradigm of the weak having victory and destroying the strong is a major theme in the Bible, and especially in the history of the Jewish people and the State of Israel. We are in the middle of the celebration of the feast of Hanukkah, the Feast of Dedication. Hanukkah is a feast of celebration of the few and weak having victory of the many and the strong. It is what one family of priests from the village of Modein (not far from today’s Ben Gurion Airport, near Tel-Aviv), did to raise the flag of rebellion against the cruel and powerful empire of the Seleucids (Greeks who inherited a part of Alexander the Great’s empire). The family of Mattathias acted in defiance of the Greek Seleucids in Modein. Like in the story of Joseph, the impossible became possible by the sheer power of faith in the righteousness of God and through stubborn faith and trust in God’s promises. The weak had victory over the vast army of the Seleucid King Antiochus Epiphanes. The same power of faith that told Joseph when he was in the well, God will have the victory in the end, “don’t give up, be strong!” is the power that gave the five sons of Mattathias and the few Judean guerrilla fighters the strength that comes from faith in God the ability to drive the Seleucid army out of Jerusalem. They took Jerusalem and the Temple back into their Jewish hands, purified the Temple and the altar from the abominations that were offered there to idols and restored the worship of the God of Israel in the temple in Jerusalem. Joseph, like Mattathias and his five sons, knew that no matter how hard and difficult life gets the Lord is ultimately in control and His promises will be fulfilled. When we, as Jewish disciples of Yeshua the Messiah, speak of having faith in God and in Yeshua the Messiah, what do we mean by the word “faith” – do we mean some doctrine that we espouse or do we mean the power to see what is not visible right now and making that vision delivered to us by the mouth of God through the prophets a flood of power to, with a deep streak of stubborn tenacity, resist the world and the present reality, with our eyes turned with expectation toward the fulfillment of God’s promises? Just a few weeks ago I visited a very famous ultra-Orthodox rabbi who is 100 years old, and still very much a powerful man of God, who survived the death camps of Nazi Germany, during World War II. The rabbi spoke of the barracks in which he and another 700 Jewish men were housed. There was room in this barrack for only 500. These Jews in that death camp were also worked hard for many hours per day with very little food, and had to decide to either act like selfish animals or to work together and survive to see the hand of God in their deliverance from that hell. In the same barracks that this rabbi was in, there was an Orthodox Jew who was also a believer in Yeshua. The name of that Jew was Joseph Vactor, son of Maier. This rabbi decided that the right thing to do was for all to stand united as one man and to work together, to see that all survived and, in their weakness, to see the victory is because God is faithful to keep his promises. It is this kind of faith that sustained Joseph in his hardest and most difficult moments of being rejected and being sent to be a slave in Egypt, and from there to jail, and finally as the second to Pharaoh himself. This is the same power of faith that didn’t seek vengeance or retribution from his brothers, the very ones that sinned against him and the same brothers who hated Joseph so much that they wouldn’t even say “Shalom” to him. Yes, Joseph recognized his brothers who came down to Egypt to seek food, but he controlled his emotions and allowed God to restrain his desires and to help him to retain his self-control, to see what God was going to do with this situation. It is this kind of faith that will always have victory over the evils of this world. Historians said that the blood of the martyrs was the weapon that brought down the Roman Empire. Tertullian, one of the 3rd century church fathers, said: “The blood of the Martyrs is the seed of the church!” Here are the three most important points that we must learn from the story of Joseph, and it applies also to Yeshua our Lord: First, when God gives you a promise, either personally or collectively, stay strong and believe that promise with all your heart, soul, and being. God keeps his promises. We in the state of Israel with all of our complaints and issues of survival, are a living witness that God is keeping His promises and that the exiles are returning home to the land and that the place is flourishing. Yes, there are problems and there are challenges of every kind imaginable, but the city is being built and the contribution of Israel to the world is both physical and technological and spiritual and scientific and I would say even moral. Look at Israel, a state built from the ashes of the crematoriums of Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen, and Treblinka and the other death camps. Those who died at the hands of Christians who went to church and prayed in Jesus’ name, are now celebrating in the halls of heaven with the angels of the Lord and dancing to the songs of Zion and the Psalms. While those confessing Christians are on the other side of the great divide begging the Lazarus’s to come and give them a drop of cold water to cool their tongues. Joseph, who was innocent, but in jail because of false accusations, was in Pharaoh’s palace and all of Egypt was at his command and in gratitude for this son of Israel. Where and what was the wife of Potiphar doing when Joseph was riding high on his horse! What was Potiphar doing when Pharaoh announced that Joseph would be second-in-command and in charge of the economy and the food supplies of all of Egypt! Second, the wise thing to do is keep your cool and to do your best to be helpful and beneficial and to bless others, even in your misery. Give out of your poverty, share even from what little you have, don’t be selfish and self-centered, especially when you are going through the difficult moments of your life. The mistake that we make is that when we have a little, we hold to it tighter and ignore those around us that are less fortunate and in greater need. Here is what our Lord Yeshua was teaching in the Temple in Jerusalem: “And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. So He said, ‘Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.’” – Luke 21:1-4 [NKJV] Finally, we all need to have patience. The ability to suffer and to restrain ourselves like Joseph, and to not become angry at God or at our fellow men, for the hardships that have befallen upon us, is one of Joseph’s great gifts. The feelings that we have been taken advantage of and that life is not fair, and that this world has no hope, and that justice will never come, is a very destructive and damaging and nothing good can come from these feelings that attack us right from the pits of hell. We ought to be children of hope trusting on the promises of God and trusting in His justice even in His judgment. I am thinking of the Alfred Dreyfuss affair in France at the end of the 19th Century. A single Jewish officer in the French Army, falsely accused of spying for the Germans by some fellow officers who were anti-Semitic. None of his friends came to his aid or stood by him. However, help came from the most unexpected corner of France, the writer and publicist, Émile Zola, published an article J'Accuse…! Zola saved Alfred Dreyfuss from Devil’s Island in French Guiana and liberated the falsely-accused Jew that had no hope to ever come out of the Devil’s Island alive and, thanks to Zola’s article, was exonerated and restored to his rank. Zola was nominated for the first and second Nobel Prize in Literature in 1901 and 1902. Yes, my dear brothers and sisters, stories like that of Joseph do happen in history and the most dramatic and illustrated story like that of Joseph is the story of Yeshua from Nazareth, the Son of God, the Messiah of Israel, the Savior of the world, and the returning-to-Zion Messiah. Yes, “He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.” – Isaiah 53:3 Now, this same Yeshua is seated in glory at the right hand of the Almighty God of Israel the Creator of our Universe! When Yeshua returns to Jerusalem in glory, every knee shall bow, and every tongue will confess that He is the King of Glory. I believe this with all my heart and am hoping and waiting to be alive in Jerusalem when it happens! I hope that you too believe this promise and are preparing to see it happen by giving your life and your whole being in His hand to use you and yours to make this happen quicker and soon in our days! If we would really really believe that Yeshua is returning to Jerusalem and the body of the Messiah worldwide believes this promise of truth that appears both in what is called “The Old Testament” and in the “New Testament,” our situation in Jerusalem, Israel, as Jewish disciples of Yeshua, ought to be just secure and wonderful and it will be up to us to make Jerusalem a place ready to receive the Messiah! About how we ought to prepare ourselves and Jerusalem to receive Yeshua we will have to write and speak about on another occasion. Let us learn from Joseph the son of Israel who was outwardly an Egyptian that the brothers didn’t recognize, but inwardly He was Joseph the son of Rachel and Israel, and grandson of Isaac, the son of God’s promise to Abraham!

I am praying and worried but hopeful and trusting the Lord for Marcia my dear wife.

A dear sister Renata Dias, from Rio de Janeiro, is in ICU in the hospital in Rio de Janeiro. Please pray for Renata’s quick recovery and exemption from complications of the illness and restoration of her normal breathing.
A dear brother and pastor Jorge from Belo-Horizonte, Brazil, is in the hospital with the same breathing issues. Please lift these brothers and sisters in your prayers and intercede for them before God’s throne for mercy and healing.
Our dear Brother Keijo Lindeman is out of the hospital and at home in Nokia, Finland. A mistake in the hospital almost cost Keijo his life but praise the Lord Keijo is recuperating at home and his wife Salme now needs our prayer for her health. Please pray for both Keijo and Salme, great and wonderful important brothers in the Kingdom of God.
My eye still needs prayer! I still have to take medication and will have to do so for at least another year. The cornea that was transplanted in my eye is from a donor and there is always the danger of rejection.
It seems like the Western World has forgotten our brothers and sisters left in Afghanistan in the hands of the Taliban. The suffering and martyrdoms of Christians is a daily affair in that horrible country.
The so-called Christian West, including the governments and their heads go to church every Sunday don’t seem to care what the radical Muslims are doing to their Christian brothers and sisters.
Let us who are weak and distant from the seats of power in this world, approach the seat of higher power and the one seated on the right hand of God and beg for mercy and grace for our brothers in Afghanistan and other countries where Christians and Jews too are being persecuted and martyred daily.
Now Steve Mock is at home after the massive CVA (stroke) but with major challenges in his speech and mobility.
Our dear friend Mahmud Abu-Eid’s sister Gouzlan is very sick, and also Mahmud’s mother needs our prayers. The Abu-Eid family is one of the finest and dearest families of Palestinian friends and soul brothers that we have. Please lift them up in your prayers.
Please pray also for Jimmy, the son of the Abu-Eid family. He is getting married in a week and needs our prayer and blessing in this marriage.
The apostle Paul commands us to pray for the wellbeing of our government. The idea behind this command is a very old biblical idea. The Lord God of all is the one who controls His world and He is the one that ultimately appoints the powers that rule this world, our governments.
We must pray for a divine wakeup call for all the spiritual leaders of the Israeli population, Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Druze, and what not, to work on changing the hate mongering. Hate in a country is a very dangerous and destructive force that can cause God to destroy our society and country.
No house can be divided against itself and survive. I pray that the Messiah comes soon and puts His feet on the Mount of Olives and proclaims peace on Earth and good will toward all men!
Would you join with me with this prayer that comes from the last part of one of the oldest prayers in Judaism, the Kaddish?
May there be abundant peace from heaven, and a good life for us and for all Israel; and say, Amen. He Who makes peace in His heavens, may He make peace for us and for all Israel; and say, Amen.
Pray and support Netivyah during these very hard times, for opportunities to do good and to bless and feed and support the population of Israel, those in need whose number has increased by many percentage points during these difficult days in Israel.
Pray for our opportunities to do good and to be a blessing to the needy population in Jerusalem, and to believers who are students at the universities. God gives opportunities of joy and privilege and every opportunity that the Lord gives us to do good and to be a blessings, is also a test of our judgement and charity.
I ask for a special prayer for the spiritual authorities of the Orthodox Jewish world to wake up and seek unity and cooperation and partnership with each other and with the secular population of Israel (the majority).
Keep praying for the Rosenfeld family, the young and the old.

I am asking for you to pray for a dear sister Ema in China. She is a wonderful and very dear servant of the Lord and is in special need of much prayer and guidance from God.

Please pray for the Rantavaara family and especially for Pekka our dear brother and for his whole family. Pekka is in advanced stages of Parkinson and needs the Lord’s healing and strength.

Ahuva. Please pray for a dear brother who is well into his 90’s and lost his wife a couple of weeks ago. His name is Dov H. Please keep in your prayers a dear sister who attends our congregation in Jerusalem. Her name is Hadassah and she just had cancer surgery. Pray for Hadassah for a full recovery and remission from any cancer in her body.
I would like a new prayer request for a dear brother Yehuda Hochman who lives in the Negev Desert. Yehuda has to receive Dialysis treatment several times per week.
From our congregation in Jerusalem, we ask you to join us in prayer for the following dear brothers and sisters: Gary, Melanie, Sarit, Gabriela, Ahuva, Leah, Ilana, Hannah, young Gabriela, Jonathan B. and his wife Aviva and their new baby.
Pray for some dear friends, Rabbi Salt, and his family and Rabbi Hasselblad. They are both older and need protection and blessings.
Please pray for our two grandchildren. They are both graduating in a few weeks from high school. They are both facing this important change in their lives.
Please pray for Yeshua College in Harare, Zimbabwe. We have a number of teachers in this new college for the Lemba, tribe in Africa from the Netivyah Staff in Jerusalem, and from Brazil.
It is a major challenge and a project of such great importance. Yehuda and Daniel and Matheus and I are the only teachers now, but we must pray for more teachers.
The students are adults, already leading congregations in the countryside of Zimbabwe and coming to Harare for three weeks to study and sharpen their tools to do the work of the Lord in their country and among the Lemba tribe.
I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish! The best is yet to come!
