이번 안식일 토라 포션은 “테루마”라고 합니다. 히브리어 “테루마”는 기부 또는 헌납이라는 뜻입니다. 읽는 말씀은 출애굽기 25:1~27:19입니다. 선지서에서 읽는 말씀은 열왕기상 5:26~8:13이고, 신약성경에서는 고린도후서 9:1-15를 읽을 것입니다.

바울은 결코 준수자(정통 유대인)가 되는 것을 그만두지 않았으며, 그의 생활 방식도 바꾸지 않았고, 우리 조상들의 관습과 전통을 계속 지켰습니다. 저는 이스라엘에서 살며 일하며 하나님의 말씀을 설교하고 가르치는 우리가, 주후 2세기 말부터 오늘날까지 기독교 신학자들이 그려서 제시한 바울이 아닌, 신약의 바울을 이해하고 내면화하는 것이 아주 중요하다고 생각합니다. 안타까운 것은 오늘날까지도 이스라엘에 기독교의 반-토라 및 반-유대주의의 왜곡된 메시지를 삼키고 이스라엘 땅 현지의 예슈아의 유대인 제자들에게까지 그것을 밀어 넣으려고 애쓰고 있는 그리스도의 유대인 제자들이 있다는 점입니다. 우리의 의무는 기독교 전통과 산타클로스에 대한 것이 아니라, 시대를 분별하는 것입니다. 하나님께서 지금 유대 민족을 이스라엘 땅으로 회복시키고 계시며, 동유럽 게토의 디아스포라가 만든 신이 아닌, 이스라엘의 하나님께로 회복시키고 계시는 시대라는 것을요. 우리는 이스라엘의 회복과 이 민족에게 하나님의 얼굴을 드러내실 것이라는 예언의 약속을 가지고 시대에 맞춰 가야 합니다. 예슈아라는 이름은 애국심과 동의어가 되어야 하며, 유대인들이 하나님에 대한 믿음을 회복하는 생활 방식과 예슈아의 참 제자들의 생활 방식을 지지해야 합니다. 이는 우리가 신약에서 읽은 것과 같은 생활 방식입니다. 바울과 제자들이 주후 1세기에 계속했던 것과 같은 생활 방식입니다. 그렇습니다, 우리에게 필요한 것은 회복이지 유럽의 개신교 종교개혁에서 태어난 교회가 아닙니다. 절기를 지키고 하나님과 토라 전통을 공경하기 위해 갈릴리에서 예루살렘까지 이 나라를 왕래하셨던 예슈아를 재발견합시다. 이 패러다임은 예슈아의 유대인 제자들만을 위한 것이 아니라, 이스라엘 땅의 이스라엘 진영 안에서 살고 일하고 역할을 하는 비-유대인 제자들을 위한 것이기도 합니다.

2. 우리가 전 세계 형제자매님들을 위해 몇 분 동안 기도하는 것은 작은 일 같이 보일지 모르지만, 하나님 나라와 하늘에서는, 메시야 예슈아의 몸이 진짜 한 몸임을 확증하고 그에 맞춘 관심과 진심 어린 중보와 기도에 선한 권위자들의 주의가 기울여집니다.

The Jerusalem Prayer List – February 3, 2022

The Torah portion of this Shabbat is called “Terumah.” “Terumah” in Hebrew means donation or contribution. The reading is from Exodus 25:1 – 27:19. From the prophets the reading is from 1 Kings 5:26 – 8:13. From the New Testament we will be reading 2 Corinthians 9:1-15.
This Shabbat is the only time of the year that we talk about money and donation and contributions. The Torah text demands it and gives us an opportunity to mention the needs and the good works that Netivyah is doing. We have one of the most honored and respected food distribution programs in Jerusalem. We are feeding roughly 1000 people, over 150 families. Many of these families are single parents with many children. Some of the families have 10 or even more children. We have orthodox Jews, Ethiopian Jews, Russian Jews, survivors of the Holocaust, and even a few Arab families from the Old City of Jerusalem. We give several tons of fresh food, fruit and vegetable, and tons of dry goods like pasta, rice, sugar, oil, cereals like cornflakes, and all the other things that children like to eat… The meat, poultry, fish that we give out by more than a ton per month is of the highest quality and meets standards at the highest degree of Rabbinical Kashrut. Every year we bless all the soldiers that are disciples of Yeshua and active in their congregations throughout the land of Israel and serve in the Israeli army, with valuable gifts that are meaningful and useful for the service man and woman in the IDF. We also support an orphanage that is situated in the hills of Judea and has some children that are really in need of some extra blessings and good care. Netivyah publishes the Teaching from Zion magazine already now for more than 40 years. Today the Teaching from Zion is a full-color printed magazine with important articles dealing with topics that are relevant for every disciple of Yeshua worldwide. The latest issue is dealing with family issues and the previous one is dealing with the philosophical undergirding that gives the fuel to our modern 21st Century culture. If you subscribe you can get it in the mail and there is no charge for it, not for the printing and not for the mailing. Each issue of the Teaching from Zion magazine costs us for editing and graphic design and printing and mailing around 11 US dollars. We mail over 4000 magazines in the mail and there are also many hundreds of people who download and read the magazine online. The material that is in this publication is unique and outstanding and it is worth reading, because it deals with issues that are very seldom if ever addressed by the average Christian or Messianic church/synagogue. Netivyah doesn’t belong to nor is it under any foreign Christian or non-Christian denomination or organization. It is one of the first fellowships that is based on local leadership and there is no foreign control over Netivyah. This makes us free to act and to learn and to believe and follow the leadings and guidance of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God. Netivyah is totally dependent on the generosity of brothers and sisters around the world. We have no business. The books that we have written are sold at cost. We don’t have an aggressive fundraising technique and we speak about our needs and report what we do mainly when the Torah is speaking of the needs of the donations and contributions for the building of the Tabernacle in the wilderness. I would like to encourage you to read the Torah portions and the prophets and the short texts from the New Testament every week. Now let me share with you my dear brothers and sisters some of the curiosities from our Torah portion. The text of Exodus 25 right from the beginning starts with these words: “Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring Me an offering. From everyone who gives it willingly with his heart you shall take My offering.” – Exodus 25:2 [NKJV] The thing to note in this text is that the only contribution that is acceptable by the Lord is the one that is given from a “willing heart!” To this I say “wow!” One of the reasons that I say this to these words is that they are almost the same words that the apostle Paul uses when he encourages the brothers and sisters in Corinth to contribute: “Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.” – 1 Corinthians 16:1,2 [NKJV] There is no command in the New Testament to give 10 percent to the Lord. The 10% was given for the Levites, not for building buildings and for the expenses of the community. The 10% was for the maintenance of the Levites. The contributions were commanded by God and the amount is 10% of the top of the income and gain that the other tribes of Israel made from the land. The request of the apostle Paul from all the churches was not for 10% of their earnings, but for a collection for the saints in Jerusalem. No amount is mentioned, and no obligatory amount of the contribution is suggested. The same is true in the second letter to the Corinthian church, chapters 8 and 9. Here is how this text from the apostle Paul brings a different outlook on giving: “Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia: that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality. For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing, imploring us with much urgency that we would receive the gift and the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.” – 2 Corinthians 8:1-4 [NKJV] Notice please, dear brothers, the description of how these brothers and sisters in Macedonia gave their contribution: 1. They were tested by suffering. 2. They were overflowing with joy. 3. They gave out of their extreme poverty, and that kind of giving made them more generous. 4. They gave from their free will (not what they had to give but what they freely wanted to give). 5. They gave all they could give, even more than they could afford. 6. They made an appeal to us (the Jewish apostles) to let them participate in the ministry of God’s kindness to His holy people in Jerusalem. I see here in the second letter to the Corinthians that those brothers in Corinth actually gave from their heart and above their capacity but not above their heart’s desire. We see the same type of giving also in the letter to the Romans. Here is the text of Paul the apostle to the Roman church: “But now I am going to Jerusalem to minister to the saints. For it pleased those from Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor among the saints who are in Jerusalem. It pleased them indeed, and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister to them in material things.” – Romans 15:25-27 [NKJV] The text in first and second Corinthians, and this text in Romans chapter 15, are the main texts that speak about contributions and about giving, in the New Testament. All of these texts are talking about giving for the saints in Jerusalem. All of these texts don’t specify the amount or percentage that ought to be given. All of these texts state that brothers gave out of their own desire and even out of a feeling of obligation or in the word that Paul uses, a feeling of debt to the Christians in Jerusalem. Paul collected the money from these churches in the diaspora for the saints in Jerusalem and brought this money to Jerusalem together with the seven gentile disciples that accompanied Paul to Jerusalem. Where did Paul deposit this money, to whom did Paul give this money, to which poor saints in Jerusalem was this money delivered? Here is what Paul says about these funds that he raised from the gentile churches in Asia Minor, Greece and Rome. “Now after many years I came to bring alms and offerings to my nation…” – Acts 24:17 [NKJV] Paul states clearly that the offering that he raised for the poor saints in Jerusalem he gave to his nation. He gave the money in the Temple in Jerusalem for the poor of Jerusalem. What are the implications of these words of the apostle? The first implication is that when Paul talks about the saints in Jerusalem, both in 2 Corinthians 8 and in Romans 15, and probably also the letter to the Ephesians in chapter 2, he is not speaking of only the disciples of the Messiah but is speaking of the general Jewish poor population in Jerusalem. Paul’s letters all contain an element of fundraising, every single letter, and his concern is for the Jewish nation in Jerusalem. He never uses the word “Christian” or “Christians” about himself or the disciples of Yeshua, neither does Jacob (James), or John. Paul states several times who he is and it is always, an Israelite, a Hebrew, a Pharisee, from the tribe of Benjamin… He states clearly: “And it came to pass after three days that Paul called the leaders of the Jews together. So when they had come together, he said to them: ‘Men and brethren, though I have done nothing against our people or the customs of our fathers…’” – Acts 28:17 [NKJV] This text is one of several where Paul is addressing Jewish leaders and states, as clearly as the sun rises, that he has done nothing against our people, i.e., the nation of Israel. He also states clearly that he had done nothing against the tradition or heritage, or customs, of our fathers. What are the implications of these things and statements of Paul for us today? Paul has never stopped being an observant (orthodox Jew), he never changed his lifestyle and he continued to observe the customs and traditions of our fathers. I think that it is of great importance for us who live and work and preach and teach the Word of God in Israel to understand and to internalize the Paul of the New Testament and not the Paul that is painted and presented by Christian theologians from the end of the second century after Christ to this very day. The sad thing is that there are Jewish disciples of Christ in Israel that have swallowed the Christian anti-Torah and anti-Jewishness twisted message and are trying hard to shove it on the local Jewish disciples of Yeshua in the land of Israel, even up to these days. Our obligation is not to Christian traditions and Santa Claus, our obligation is to discern the times – that God is now restoring the Jewish nation to the land of Israel, to the God of Israel and not the diaspora-made God of the Eastern European ghetto. We need to step in time with the prophetic promises of the restoration of Israel and the revealing of God’s face to this nation. The name of Yeshua has to become a synonym for patriotism and support for the lifestyle of Jewish restoration of faith in God and the lifestyle of true disciples of Yeshua, the same lifestyle that we read about in the New Testament. [ snippet] The same lifestyle that Paul and the disciples carried on in the first century after Christ. Yes, restoration is what we need, and not churches born in the Protestant Reformation in Europe. Let us rediscover the Yeshua that walked up and down this country from the Galilee to Jerusalem to celebrate the feasts and to honor God and the Torah traditions. This paradigm is not only for the Jewish disciples of Yeshua, it is also for the non-Jewish disciples who live and work and function inside the camp of Israel in the land of Israel.

Today we have sad news to share with you. Lev Kovner, Hannah Kovner’s father, passed from this world to the next. He died suddenly the morning of Wednesday, February 2, 2022.
Please pray for Hannah and Miriam her mother, and for Reuven and Hannah’s brother who is in Russia. Lev Kovner was a very good singer and the soloist in one of Jerusalem’s musical singing groups. Especially pray for Miriam, Hannah’s mother, who is a faithful disciple of the Messiah and will have a difficult time after her husband’s death.
Last week we buried our dear sister Ahuva (Lempi) in the same cemetery. This week we are going to the cemetery to bury Hannah’s father Lev.
Please pray for the people listed on this prayer list. They are all dear brothers and sisters from around the world that pray and stand with Israel and with us at Netivyah.
Please keep praying for Marcia my wife and for me. We are both feeling our age and with the coronavirus we are both in need of your prayers, but especially Marcia needs God’s merciful hand to keep her memory and daily activities functioning without forgetting important things that she needs to do for herself and at home. There are some medical tests that she has to do soon, CT and MRI and other tests to understand better what the causes of some of Marcia’s problems are.
Pray for me too. I am having serious back problems and now I have to do CT and MRI and other tests to discover what is the source of this strong pain. Our family doctor suspects that it is a ruptured disc or two in my lower back. I started physical therapy for the back today.
My work schedule is unbelievable. I am teaching every day somewhere around the world. I am teaching a several hours in Yeshua College in Harare Zimbabwe. In fact, I am the academic dean of this new college.
We have 35 adult pastors who are active in their ministries and take three weeks at a time for an intense study on a high academic level to improve their ministry. They are all from the Lemba tribe, a tribe that has some roots in Israel and in suspect being one of the lost tribes of northern Israel.
I am also teaching in Asia just about every week one or two times. In Zimbabwe, I have Yehuda Bachana teaching, Daniel Stern, Matheus from Brazil teaching Hebrew, Lion from Amsterdam teaching Hermeneutics, and I am teaching character-building by working through the biblical heroes and learning form them what it means to walk and talk and hear from God.
I think that learning to build the characters of the leaders is much more important than theological speculations. We have worked our way in two semesters from Adam to Abraham… You would be surprised how much there is to learn from these biblical heroes about our own selves both our weaknesses and our strengths and of course what we need to learn in order not to fall in the same pits that our forefathers fell into.

The situation of our older sisters who are true heroes in the service of the Lord – Leah, Ahuva, and Ilana need our prayers. I am asking you join us all in praying for our older sisters. They are true heroes of faith, and their love for the Lord, and for His people, is without limit.
There is a clear command in the word of God to take care of the widows and orphans. This command appears in the Torah, the prophets, the writings, and in the New Testament - even several times.
Anyone who is getting old or has older family members must know that the fellowship of the saints and of our spiritual family can be trusted to keep this commandment and to take care of our older generation of people who have given their all during their younger years, and it is the responsibility of the saints to take care of their elderly.
Please consider as a church or as individuals to add something extra for the elderly saints of Jerusalem.

Please keep brother Philip Marc in your prayers. Philip is a young man with very serious cancer. He is a truth seeker and a faithful disciple of Yeshua who loves God and who is a lover of Israel. Philip lives far from Israel in a country that we can’t travel to, but Philip's heart is with us, and with God’s people.

The situation in Israel is not getting better yet! Israel is still under closure with limited mobility and most of the economy and businesses are closed, at least for now. The economy is devastated.
It is a good work to pray for people whom you don’t know personally and to pray for the world to recover and bring an end to this horrible pandemic called the coronavirus. Corona is a crown, and I am not sure on the head of which king this virus is a crown.
1. There is a blessing from God to those who pray for other brothers and sisters and intercede through the Holy Spirit for the body of the Messiah.
2. It might seem like a small thing for us to pray a few minutes for brothers and sisters around the world, but in the kingdom and in the Heavens, attention is paid by the authorities of goodness to the caring and sincere intercessory prayer that conforms and confirms that the body of the Messiah Yeshua is truly one body.
a. Pray for all the former and present people involved in Korean Israel Bible Instruction Ministry.
b. Pray for the former board members of KIBI and that those who need to repent and restore their relationship, receive power from on high, to do so.
c. Pray for those members and academics that are and were a part of the Israel Forum.
d. Pray for those who have prayed so faithfully for the salvation of Israel and the peace in Israel.
e. Pray for the spiritual and physical health of all those in Korea who are still praying for the body of the Messiah in Israel and specifically praying and supporting Netivyah. Bless them and inspire them and pray that they be filled with faith, hope and love for the Lord and for Israel.
Pray for me tomorrow. I am going to participate in a kind of “kangaroo court” against a dear brother whom I love and who used to work in Netivyah many years ago. I need your prayer to help me keep my very-sharp tongue in cheek and my patience in a calm and peaceful attitude.
I don’t believe that anyone has appointed some of these foreign denominational missionaries’ judges and executioners of local Jewish disciples of Yeshua. Who died and made them the queen of Sheba! David Stern from our congregation and I started the elders’ conferences in Israel many years ago, but the purpose was to promote unity and cooperation among brothers, both Jews and Arab brothers. The objective was never to judge each other and divide the Body of the Messiah according to denominational lines.
Let us all pray and encourage our spiritual leaders to lead and to point us toward repentance and to confession of our sins and weaknesses, so that the Lord will lift this coronavirus from off of this earth and we will remember the Lord and seek to walk in His paths of righteousness and truth.
Danah our daughter, needs much prayer for her situation as does our granddaughter Noaam. Please lift Danah and Noaam in your prayers. Please lift Barry our son and his family, Beth, and Joey our grandson who are also staying at home and working from home during this time.
We are praying for a three-year-old little girl who is ill with a rare illness and cancer. She lives with her family in California and we need to pray for her and her family to receive attention and healing from the Lord and to be allowed to grow up to serve His kingdom.
I am adding a new prayer request from a leader of God’s people in India, Joy Mathew, and Pastor Isaac from the city of Chennai. Pastor Isaac is suffering from kidney problems and is on dialysis a few times each week. Please lift brother Isaac in your prayers.
Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Brazil. Brazil is one of the countries with a remarkably high count of sick and dead people from the coronavirus. We have brothers and sisters all around Brazil, and I ask you to just say a prayer for divine protection and for wisdom to keep them clear from this deadly plague.
Also include in your prayers Caique de Oliveira Becker. These are people in Brazil who need the Lord’s special grace for healing.
Please do not forget to lift up in prayer the young man Paulo and the Amaral family, in Brazil.
Please keep in your prayers our dear brother Pastor TJ in Taiwan. TJ is going through a new phase in his life.
Keep Ruby Little in your prayers, our dear sister from Oklahoma City. Ruby went through a new set of tests for her cancer and the tests returned with not such a good news. Ruby is in need of our prayers. Pray for God to heal Ruby from her cancer that after two years of treatments not much improvement. Ruby needs a miracle and strength and courage to deal with this challenge in the best way that will give her a better quality of life than chemotherapy, for divine intervention, a miracle of healing.

Keep praying for Nancy, Don and their son Aaron Hook, Rachel David Kim’s wife – Jingyung Lee, Dr. Yuizawa, Tiz H., Lion H, Ilana Abramov, David Stern and his family, Anne West who is now 100 years old. Keep praying for Gary, and Melanie.
Remember the following brothers and sisters from the Roeh Israel Congregation in Jerusalem; Sarit, Gabriela, Ahuva, Leah, Ilana, Hannah, young Gabriela, Zvi D. and Bathsheba, Jonathan B. and his wife Aviva and their baby, and pray for Sister Yoko Nagumo in Japan. Sister Yoko had a stroke, and we pray that her recovery will be quick and full.

I have just received a prayer request from a dear sister from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her father who is 70 years old and diabetic has contracted the COVID-19 virus.
Please see your prayer as casting a vote for healing before the Lord and His angels in Heaven in favor of every brother and sister that you are praying for. Just a word of grace for all of us is a refreshing spirit. Take your prayers before the mercy seat of the Almighty to be heard in favor of those that you are lifting in prayer.

By praying for people who are your brothers and sisters, and whom you do not know personally, you are exercising the right to be God’s ambassador in what is called “agape love.” “Agape love” is the highest form of love, a love that does not look for earthly rewards or give and take, but just does the service of intercession in the kingdom of God.
You will be blessed by the almighty God who gives each of His children good for the good we do and recompense for the bad we do. Your sincere prayers for people around the world do the following things for the Kingdom, the King, and for the body of the Messiah:
1. They unite you and the body in a major transcendent bond of prayer.
2. They demonstrate the oneness of the people of God.
3. Your prayer shows that there are people outside the realm of the physical world and personal interests who have a sincere bond and relationship that is heavenly and not earthly.
4. The Lord knows His children and gives credit and reward according to His promises.

Pray for Israel. Businesses are closing, and bankruptcy is happening to old established companies and businesses and even our national airline is on the verge of bankruptcy. People do not have money to put food on their tables. The number of people in need of basic food is growing.
Netivyah has been feeding the poor of Jerusalem for more than 25 years and we have a highly appreciated humanitarian ministry that is working with the Jerusalem municipality. As the demands for food for people who never before needed such help grows, I pray that the Lord will inspire and motivate brothers and sisters and ministries who can help with this to visit our webpage and do what they can to make it possible for us to double or more than double the number of people and families that we serve.
Our prime minister’s case is still before the courts. I am not happy that this is happening in Israel, but I am praying that true justice and righteousness is exhibited in our court system. The truth must come out and I am not interested in a second prime minister of Israel going to jail. We have had a president in jail, a finance minister in jail, a minister of interior affairs in jail, and a member of the parliament in jail.
Pray for some dear friends, Rabbi Salt, and his family and Rabbi Hasselblad. They are both older and need protection and blessings.
We are praying for Tali and asking you all to pray for Tali. We need to ask God to heal and bless this dear sister that is suffering both physically and materially. Tali has three teenage daughters with health problems and Tali herself has some serious health problems.
I want to bless all of you our dear brothers around the world. I thank you who have prayed for Netivyah and for Israel, and have helps Netivyah to carry on with God’s work and a positive witness of God’s goodness by supporting Netivyah with prayer and with your generous gifts that enable the Lord’s work in Israel and around the world.
