저는 이 예루살렘 기도 목록을 벌써 35년 이상 써오고 있습니다. 목표는 하나님의 세계 모든 곳의 우리 형제자매님들에게 예루살렘과, 이스라엘과, 우리 조상 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 영원한 소유로 주어진 이 땅에 있는 유대인 및 비-유대인 형제자매들을 위한 기도에 연합하도록 권하고 간청하기 위한 것입니다.
여러분도 이미 눈치채셨겠지만, 저는 네티비야와, 이스라엘과 문자 그대로 전 세계에서의 오랫동안 안정적이며 후한 사역을 위해 재정적 후원을 요청하거나 구걸한 적이 한 번도 없습니다. 기적이자 하나님의 은혜인 것은 전 세계의 많은 형제자매님들이, 아주 먼 곳에서, 그리고 네티비야 스텝이 한 번도 가본 적 없는 곳에서 자발적으로 네티비야를 재정적으로 후원하기로 한 것입니다. 저는 놀라는 것을 넘어서, 네티비야 웹페이지를 통해 헌금하신 귀한 형제자매님 모두에 대해 감사와 찬양과 축복이 넘칩니다. 저 개인에게 가장 큰 축복인 것은 곤궁한 처지에 놓인 형제자매들이, 어떤 분은 집을 잃고 직장도 잃게 된 처지에도 네티비야를 사랑하는 마음에 단 몇 달러라도, 또 다른 화폐로 1달러 정도되는 돈이라도 헌금해 주시기도 한 것입니다. 이것은 제게 대단한 격려이고 좋은 본입니다. 저는 전에 이 지면에서 하나님께서는 우리 모두를 상대적 기준으로 판단하신다고 썼습니다. 우리가 누구인지, 우리 직업이 뭔지, 우리가 얼마나 되는지, 무엇보다 동전 두 닢을 헌금한 늙은 과부와 같이 우리가 얼마나 사랑하는지를 보시는데요, 하나님께서 보실 때 이 과부의 동전 두 닢은 바리새인이 헌금하는 1천 디나르보다 더 큰 것입니다. 저는 예슈아께서 말씀하셨지만 패러다임은 완전히 유대적이고 랍비 전통적인 이 중요한 이야기가 그냥 좋습니다. 하나님께서는 여러분 모두에게 복 주시고 건강과, 좋은 삶과, 모든 사람에게, 무엇보다 믿음의 권속에게 선을 행할 많은 기회를 풍부히 주십니다! 이번 안식일에 우리는 “하예이 사라”(사라의 일생)라고 부르는 토라 포션을 읽습니다. 읽는 말씀 본문은 창세기 23:1~25:18입니다. 그리고 선지서에서 읽는 하프타라는 열왕기상 1:1-31입니다. 신약성경에서는 읽는 말씀은 마태복음 1:1-17과 고린도전서 15:50-57입니다. 오늘 저는 신약성경에서 읽는 고린도전서 15:50-57에서 논의를 시작하고 싶습니다: “형제들아 내가 이것을 말하노니 혈과 육은 하나님 나라를 이어 받을 수 없고 또한 썩는 것은 썩지 아니하는 것을 유업으로 받지 못하느니라 보라 내가 너희에게 비밀을 말하노니 우리가 다 잠 잘 것이 아니요 마지막 나팔에 순식간에 홀연히 다 변화되리니 나팔 소리가 나매 죽은 자들이 썩지 아니할 것으로 다시 살아나고 우리도 변화되리라 이 썩을 것이 반드시 썩지 아니할 것을 입겠고 이 죽을 것이 죽지 아니함을 입으리로다 이 썩을 것이 썩지 아니함을 입고 이 죽을 것이 죽지 아니함을 입을 때에는 사망을 삼키고 이기리라고 기록된 말씀이 이루어지리라 사망아 너의 승리가 어디 있느냐 사망아 네가 쏘는 것이 어디 있느냐” — 고린도전서 15:50-55 인쇄된 성경에서는 마지막 두 절은 이탤릭체로 되어 있습니다. 왜 그럴까요? 성경 본문의 글자체가 다르거나 활자체가 다르거나 글자색이 다를 경우에는 그 성경 번역본 출판자가 우리에게 뭔가를 말하려고 하는 것인데요, 우리가 그것을 파고들어 그 이유를 알아내기를 기대하는 것입니다! 이 경우에 바울은 바울의 이 서신 본문 안에 히브리어 성경 선지서의 두 구절, 이사야 25:8과 호세아 13:14을 인용하고 있기 때문입니다. 바울이 여기에서 사용하고 있는 이 문제에서 우리는 뭘 배울 수 있을까요? The Jerusalem Prayer List – November 17, 2022

I have been writing write this Jerusalem Prayer List already for more than 35 years. The objective is to encourage and beg our brothers and sisters all through God’s world to unite in prayer for Jerusalem and for Israel, and for the local Jewish and non-Jewish brothers and sisters in this land gifted to our forefathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as an everlasting possession.
As you have already noticed, there has not been one time that I have asked or begged for financial support for Netivyah and the long, stable, and generous ministry in Israel and literally around the world. The miracle and the grace of God is that many brothers and sisters around the world, from faraway places, and from places that none of the Netivyah staff have ever visited, have taken upon themselves to send financial support to Netivyah. I am more than amazed and surprised and full of gratitude and praise and blessings for all those dear brothers and sisters who contributed through the web page of Netivyah. What is the biggest blessing to me personally is those brothers and sisters who are in a very needy situation, some who are on the edge of being homeless and jobless, and they contribute to Netivyah their love with just a few dollars or other currency that has the value of $1. This for me is such a great encouragement and an example. I have written before in this forum that God judges us all on the basis of relativity. Of who we are and what we are and how much we are, and above all how much we love with and, do like the old widow woman who gave two cents, that in God’s eyes her two cents were more than 1000 dinar that the Pharisee gave… I just love this important narrative that is from Yeshua, but the paradigm is totally Jewish and rabbinical. God bless you all and enrich you with good health, and good life, and many opportunities to do good to all man, but more of all to those of the household of faith! This Shabbat we will be reading from the Torah portion called in Hebrew “Chayei Sarah” (“the life of Sarah”). We will read from Genesis 23:1-25:18, and from the prophets (the Haftarah) we read from 1 Kings 1:1-31. From the New Testament we will read from Matthew 1:1-17, and from 1 Corinthians 15:50-57. Today I want to start our discussion from the New Testament reading from 1 Corinthians 15:50-57: “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: ‘Death is swallowed up in victory.’ ‘O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?’” — 1 Corinthians 15:50-55 In a print Bible, the last two verses are in a different script and in italics. Why? When the biblical texts have a different font or script or color, the publishers of our translations are trying to say something to us, and it would be expected for us to dig and find out why! In this case it is because Paul is bringing into his own text a quotation from two Hebrew prophets; the two Scripture passages are combined: Isaiah 25:8 and Hosea 13:14. What can we now learn from these questions that Paul uses here? Our lives are not limited to this physical world, that is a corruptible world. Everything that we see and feel and smell and touch in this world is corruptible. In fact, according to Isaiah the prophet and also the book of Revelation, the whole world, the solar system, is corruptible and not eternal. I enjoyed reading “A Brief History of Time” by Stephen Hawking. In his book Stephen Hawking makes it clear that our universe, like other universes in the vast expanse of space, is not endless. Stars are born and stars die, universes along the Milky Way are sometimes many millions of years old, but some become a “black hole” or a “black dwarf”. Other new stars and universes are born. Some of the readers of Stephen Hawking were left with open mouths, Wow! How smart is Stephen Hawking? Well, we have Isaiah in the 8th Century BCE stating clearly the following: “And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” — 1 John 2:17 [NKJV] “The sun shall no longer be your light by day, Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; But the Lord will be to you an everlasting light, And your God your glory. Your sun shall no longer go down, Nor shall your moon withdraw itself; For the Lord will be your everlasting light, And the days of your mourning shall be ended.” — Isaiah 60:19,20 [NKJV] “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind. But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create; For behold, I create Jerusalem as a rejoicing, And her people a joy. I will rejoice in Jerusalem, And joy in My people; The voice of weeping shall no longer be heard in her, Nor the voice of crying.” — Isaiah 65:17-19 [NKJV] There are more texts in the Hebrew Bible that hint and create an expectation of the end of the world. But, I think that these texts listed above are enough to know with assurance that that this world is not endless, and that we will some day have a new heaven and a new earth. This paradigm has to influence our lives and remind us what the Bible states several times. In our lives and in our minds we must remember that we are all “strangers and sojourners”. Living with the idea that we have nothing permanent in this life and in this world is a very powerful force. It gives us strength to take and receive the difficult moments of our lives with a coolness that gives confidence and comfort when there is a loss or difficulty. No matter how hard things can be in this life, we know that it is all temporary, and that there is another world better and with no illness or criminals. The material things in life have a much less importance, and even if we collect them and love them, we know that they are but a trifle. There are other advantages that we have if we really internalize and accept these biblical facts. One of which is to learn to invest and stress the things that will bless us eternally and not only temporarily. “The land shall not be sold permanently, for the land is Mine; for you are strangers and sojourners with Me.” — Leviticus 25:23 [NKJV] “Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God…” — Ephesians 2:19 [NKJV] Now back to the Torah reading from Genesis, “Chayei Sarah” (“the life of Sarah”). The main point in this Torah portion is that Sarah, the wife of Abraham’s youth, is gone. She died at the age of 127 years. This would make Isaac 37 years old and still not married. Abraham now is saddled with the need to bury his beloved wife Sarah. Remember that although God gave Abraham and his seed the whole land of Canaan, Abraham didn’t own legally one square yard of land in this land. So, now Abraham needs some land that is permanently his private property. One of the main lessons from this Torah portion is Abraham’s way of dealing with the Hittite population of Hebron. Here is a very short introduction of the Hittites: the Hittites were a great nation from the central mountains of Anatolia, Turkey of today. They were great builders and also, like other nations, had their eyes on Egypt, and for this reason they came and conquered important strategic cities in the land of Canaan. One of their main cities was the city of Hebron, that was the stronghold for the protection of one of this land’s main highways. Today this highway is called “The Way of Our Fathers”, in Hebrew “Derech Ha’avot”. This highway runs through the backbone of this land, the central mountain range. Abraham has pitched his tent right next to Hebron, on the outskirts of the Hittite town, in Kiribati Arabah. He is in a camp, not in a city, not in a wall-protected space. Abraham is looking for a permanent, self-owned space to bury his wife Sarah. I have written before about this Torah portion, about how to deal with a hostile neighboring population and keep your honor and your land rights. I am not going to repeat the whole story, but I will give you the main points: 1. Don’t trust your neighbors that don’t belong to your nationality or clan on issues of ownership of immobile assets. I would include things like cars, expensive working instruments, or your children. 2. Always deal with super-fairness and do it publicly, never secretly, with all the documentation open and exposed to all, and legally and officially notarized. 3. Don’t look for discounts. Pay the true price and don’t ask for favors from those who are your potential enemies. You don’t want anyone in the world to say, “I did this favor for Abraham, or Joseph, or Moses”. 4. Don’t forget that you are the owner of the property and that your children are to posses your property and inherit it after you. Insure your property by visiting it and using it, and pass it on to the next generations with documentation and tradition. Please read the Torah portion, especially chapter 23:1-20, and take time to meditate on it. You should also remember your purchases of land or home, or even a car. Review your own actions in your life and the major expenditures that have long-range implications for your life and your family. Learn from the Bible some important practical principles that are stamped with the Lord’s Holy Spirit, like the story of Abraham and the Hittite Ephron and his clan. The next story of great importance is the condition of Isaac, Abraham’s son of promise. He is now 40 years old and not married. This becomes Abraham’s major concern and worry. This is the son of God’s promise, all of Abraham’s blessings and mission is dependent on Isaac. Isaac is not married. Why is Isaac not married? He is not married because of Ishmael, the son of the Egyptian servant of Sarah, Hagar. As a child, this first son Ishmael was afraid that Isaac will inherit Abraham, and he will be left out. So, Ishmael tried to destroy Isaac’s manhood by having a homosexual relationship with Isaac. This is the reason that Sarah insisted to expel and kick out Ishmael and his mother Hagar. This idea comes from the Hebrew word, “metzahek”. Here are the places in the book of Genesis that this word is used and you can come to the right conclusions if you use your gray cells in the brain. Please read them carefully and learn: “And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, scoffing [‘metzahek’].” — Genesis 21:9 [NKJV] “Now it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked through a window, and saw, and there was Isaac, showing endearment [‘metzahek’] to Rebekah his wife.” — Genesis 26:8 [NKJV] The context of this following text is Potiphar’s wife trying to subdue Joseph, and now accusing him. The same word here is translated “mock”: “…that she caught him by his garment, saying, ‘Lie with me.’ But he left his garment in her hand, and fled and ran outside. And so it was, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and fled outside, that she called to the men of her house and spoke to them, saying, ‘See, he has brought in to us a Hebrew to mock [“metzahek”] us. He came in to me to lie with me, and I cried out with a loud voice.’” — Genesis 39:12-14 [NKJV] Now Abraham is worried, and he sends Eliezer his old servant to go all the way up to Aleppo, Haran, in Syria, to look for a wife for Isaac. This story is really a fascinating story and has many lessons to be learned, especially for the young men who are looking for a wife. The old Eliezer was wise, and did a good job looking for a wife for Isaac. He found Rebecca, who was less than half the age of Isaac. This is why, according to the Hebrew text, when she saw Isaac the first time she actually fell off the camel. Falling from a camel is not an easy fall! I know that the English NKJV wrote: “she dismounted from her camel”. The rest of Rebecca and Isaac’s life reflect this difference in their age, and the way that Rebecca manipulated Isaac for the rest of his life. Well, there are so many other important things to discuss in every page and every verse of God’s word, but I need to finish here for today.

Lea Korky, a dear sister who is 89 years old and served for many years as a nurse in the Sha’arei Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem.
Sarit, a sister born in Jerusalem, over 87 years old, lives alone. Has no close family, and suffers from several old-age illnesses.
Yehuda Hochman, is a dear older brother living in the Negev desert with some illness that needs healing.
Please put Marcia Shulam and me, Joseph Shulam in your daily prayers. We trust in the Almighty God His mercy is sufficient for us, but prayer by honest and sincere brothers and sisters can surely wake up God’s mercy and at least stop the deterioration of Marcia’s memory.
My dear wife is suffering from severe diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis and now also from memory loss. She was diagnosed with dementia. Childhood-onset Diabetics are susceptible to memory problems.
Marcia can’t be left alone, and I must stay home most of the days of the week, and if I leave the house someone has to come and stay with Marcia to make sure that she takes her insulin. We are praying for someone to live with us and help us with caring for Marcia.
Pray for Adam R., Adam works in Netivyah as the media director and he, like Yehuda and Daniel, has been raised in Netivyah congregation in the Galilee. Adam has lost much of his hearing as a result of a virus. Pray for Adam and his family of 8 children.
Pray for Adam’s father and mother, Barry and Dalia. They too have some health problems and challenges.
Pray for Miriam and for Hannah, her daughter. Miriam is a dear sister and has lost her husband recently. Pray for Daniel S. and his children. Our dear leader in the Ro’eh Israel congregation, Gary, and his health, and for his wife Melanie and their family.
Pray for Um Mahmud Abu-Eid and Jimmy Abu-Eid and all of the family. This is a dear family of old friends that needs healing and wisdom for the children and for their work.
Please pray for the Romero family who live deep in the Negev desert. It is hot there and they are far from our congregation, we miss them, but we wish them a wonderful summer.
Please pray for Alexander West and his sister Sarah West. Alexander has a very serious case of Covid, and he has asked for prayer. This is a good thing, since Alexander has been estranged form the faith for a season. Pray also for Ronan, Alexander’s wife, who also has a challenging case of Covid.
Pray for the Ro’eh Israel congregation and the leadership of Netivyah. I have received my last check in the end of August. I am no longer employed by Netivyah. I am continuing the Lord’s work without stopping or slowing down for one minute. I need your prayers because from January I will be living on a pension. Until January, by God’s grace!

Pray for the congregations related to Netivyah in Brazil, to have the strength and stamina to face the challenges in front of them with courage and strength of faithfulness to the Lord, and to the vision of the restoration of the church and Israel.
Pray for the millions of victims of the Spanish and Portuguese Inquisition who have been forced to convert to the Catholic church, and now want to return home to the land of Israel and to the faith of our fathers.
Pray for the state of Israel to open the doors for these lost Jews to be able to return and fulfill God’s promises to the prophet Ovadyah:
“But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, And there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. The house of Jacob shall be a fire, And the house of Joseph a flame; But the house of Esau shall be stubble; They shall kindle them and devour them, And no survivor shall remain of the house of Esau, For the Lord has spoken. The South shall possess the mountains of Esau, And the Lowland shall possess Philistia. They shall possess the fields of Ephraim And the fields of Samaria. Benjamin shall possess Gilead. And the captives of this host of the children of Israel Shall possess the land of the Canaanites As far as Zarephath. The captives of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad Shall possess the cities of the South. Pray for a dear young man, Paulo, from Curitiba, Brazil, who is seriously needing our prayers for sanity and mental health.
Pray for our dear brother Marcelo G. and his family. Marcelo is a pioneer in the establishing the Teaching from Zion ministry in Brazil and the Har Zion Congregation in Belo-Horizonte.
Pray for Marcelo’s father who is up in the years. Pray for our brothers in the Har Zion congregation, the widow of Pastor George, and for those who are ill and need healing.
Pray for Livia Schnell Nothen, she has some issues with her physical health and a growth in her adrenal gland. And other health issues.
Guilherme Antonio Nothen Becker, who is suffering from back problems. Aratuza de Oliveira his wife. Pray for this 3-year-old child that has serious problems with his eyes and ask the Lord to give healing to his eyes. This child’s name is Caique de Oliveira Becker.
Pray for Bernardo Antonio Nothen Becker. Bernardo is addicted to gambling and playing poker. This caused deep sorrow to his family.
Fernanda Nothen Becker, our dear sister has problems with her job that cause her pressure and challenges. Pray for the social situation in Fernanda’s work to turn and her suffering to turn into joy and friendship.

In India, Pastor Isaac, from Chennai, needs our prayers. Pastor Isaac is suffering from kidney problems and has to have dialysis several times per week.
Tony Tam and his wife Luisa and son Marco need special prayer for their situation.

Please pray for Ruby K. from Hong Kong. Ruby has gone through a very complicated surgery for multiple cancers in her body. The surgery was very long, and Ruby is back home now recovering. Please lift Ruby K. and ask the Lord to heal and deliver Ruby from Hong Kong.

Pray for Noaam my granddaughter. She is working two jobs now and needs good health and wisdom to make the right choices and plans for life, education, immigration to Israel, and just general protection from all harm.
Pray for David Young the preacher in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, who is back to preaching after recovering from medical issues. Please keep David in your prayers.
Pray for Ruby Little, our dear and faithful sister who has cancer and has stopped receiving medical treatment for the cancer that she has. Please pray for Ruby that the Lord will heal and strengthen her and provide for all her needs both medically and socially.
Aaron Hook, Nancy Hook’s oldest son, needs our prayers for wisdom and healing from past issues of life. Pray for Don, Aaron’s father and Nancy’s husband. Don and Nancy are now in the USA. Keep Nancy in your prayers.
Lift for blessing and healing Jonathan B. and his wife Aviva and their new baby, his mother, and his brother Daniel. Pray for these very important men of God: Rabbi Salt, his family, and Rabbi Hasselblad. They are both older and need protection and blessings.
Pray a blessing for a dear sister Angela Isby and her situation. Pray for Tiz H. and Lion H.
Also pray for Ilana Avramov who is married to my cousin Nissim and lives in New York City. Ilana has fallen and in now in rehab learning how to walk again. She and Nissim both need our prayers.
Joseph Mock, a young man in his 30s, a dear brother that was named after me, has leukemia in an advanced stage. He is in the hospital and needs our urgent prayers. Joseph Mock is the son of Steve Mock, who is also one of the faithful disciples of Yeshua who became a believer in the early years of Netivyah.
Steve Mock is also in need of our prayers. He had a massive stroke and now he cannot speak, and has other limitations. Please keep Steve Mock also in your prayers, and pray for his wife Josse for strength and blessings and good health.
Pray for three women of God in Canada who need healing, Lynda, Sandy and Joanne.
I pray that the Lord will inspire and motivate brothers and sisters and ministries who can help with this to visit here do what they can to make it possible for us to double or more than double, the number of people and families that we serve.
Please pray for Netivyah and for the good work that Netivyah is doing in Israel and around the world.
We need more workers because of the challenges and needs and opportunities to bless the King Yeshua and His Kingdom down here on Earth and bless the poor people of Jerusalem and produce more materials, books, and magazines.
