예루살렘 기도 목록 – 2023년 11월 24일

오늘은 이스라엘의 최근 역사에서 매우 중요한 날입니다. 이 날은 유대인과 이스라엘인뿐만 아니라 유대 민족의 모든 정직한 친구들, 특히 이스라엘 민족의 진정한 친구들이 수세기 동안 기억할 것입니다. 오늘 이스라엘은 어둠의 사자와 바알세불의 제자들과 교환을 했습니다. 이 교환은 2023년 10월 7일 인질로 잡힌 13명의 유대인 여성과 어린이들에 대한 것이었습니다. 일부는 가자지구 국경 근처 북부 네게브 사막의 모래밭에서 열린 파티에서, 일부는 키부츠 비어리와 케파르 가자에 있는 집에서, 그리고 몇몇은 가자지구 국경 주변의 다른 평화로운 유대인 농촌에서 인질로 잡혔었습니다. 그날 붙잡힌 유대인 인질은 모두 240명 이상이었습니다.

The Jerusalem Prayer List – November 24, 2023

This is a very important day in Israel’s recent history. This day will be remembered for centuries, not only by Jews and Israelis, but by every honest friend of the Jewish nation and especially by the true friends of the nation of Israel. This day Israël had an exchange with the Messenger of Darkness and Disciples of Beelzebub. The exchange was of 13 Jewish women and children who were taken as hostages on October 7th 2023. Some taken from a party held in the sands of the northern Negev desert near the Gaza border and some from their homes in Kibbutz Beery and Kefar Gaza and several other peaceful farming Jewish communities around the Gaza border. The total number of Jewish hostages taken that day is more than 240.
This afternoon of November 24, 2023, a total of 50 hostages were exchanged for 150 terrorists. Israel received 13 Jews and 37 farm workers from Thailand in exchange for 150 Palestinian prisoners. Each one of you can do the math of how much one of ours is worth to us, to Israel. It is interesting that the Torah portion for this Shabbat is called Vayetze the Hebrew means “And he went out!” How prophetic and profound is this reading on this Shabbat! We and every synagogue in Israel will be reading the following texts: Vayetze from Genesis 28:10 – 32:3, and from the prophets from Hosea 12:13 – 14:10, and from the New Testament John 1:41-51. Each of these readings are full of interesting and important texts that impacts the biblical narrative for the rest of Israël’s history, and for the events that Israel is going through today. I deeply identify with Jacob because of my own personal experience that forced me to leave home at the age of 16. I understand Jacob’s anxiety and worry! I understand how important the dream Jacob has of The Lord standing beside him in the dream and assuring him that He, God, is going with Jacob to a strange land to meet relatives he has never met and has little knowledge about. I didn’t have a ladder from heaven in my dreams while a student in Georgia Christian School in Dasher, Georgia. I did however have angels from God who encouraged me, helped me with laundry, mended my socks and made sure I had enough work to pay for my schooling, food, and even a little pocket money to get a Coca Cola with a nickel from the Coca Cola machine. I did have one dream with Yeshua. I was in bed on the second bunk and a figure stood at the foot of my bed! He was dressed in white, and his face was so very bright! He said my name in Hebrew and asked me a question: “Yosef are you willing to be a beggar?” My answer was a flat “NO! My father didn’t raise me to be a beggar!” The question was repeated a second time and a third time. My answers were the same: “NO!” The man in white said: “Are you willing to be a beggar for me!” I said “No!” He said if you are not willing to be a beggar for me you can’t serve me! “All I wanted in life was to be your servant, I will be a beggar for you!” He said: “if you are willing to be a beggar for me, you will never have to beg!” In fact, that promise that the man in white gave me has been true for 62 years of service. There were periods in our lives, when Marcia and I were in need for basic human needs, but we never had to beg! Now back to Jacob! He arrives to the region where Laban his uncle lives. He comes first to the most popular place in town, the watering well where all the shepherds gather at the end of the day to water their flocks. The shepherds had an agreement that no one will water his flock alone. The well will be opened only when all the local shepherds arrive with their flocks and then and only then they will open the well for service for all. What can we learn from this story and arrangement? The simplest lesson is that the shepherds of Haran didn’t trust each other. They must have feared that some of the local shepherds would take advantage of the water in the well and misuse their privilege for their advantage. Jacob arrives to this well and all the shepherds are not there yet. As he waits there, he opens a conversation with the local shepherds asking about his uncle Laban and attempting to be friendly, but they are not so friendly and welcoming to a stranger from Canaan! He asks questions and they answer him with one-word answers, short, abrupt, and unfriendly. Suddenly he sees a young beautiful woman leading her sheep to the well! Without asking for permission, he walks up to the well and musters enough strength to remove the big and heavy stone off the mouth of the well and invites the beautiful female shepherdess to water her flock and asks her for her family. When he finds out that she is his cousin he slaps a big wet kiss on her, and the self-introduction is finished. Jacob has finally arrived in the home of his uncle Laban. Now Jacob has two reasons to stay in Assyria with uncle. He is far away from his brother Esau who is looking for opportunity to kill him, and a more important reason is the woman he met at the public well of Haran is Rachel his first cousin. The beauty of this story is that in the middle of a battle for survival, in a far and strange land, Jacob falls in love with a woman that for the rest of his life is his beloved. He had to marry Leah, Rachel’s older sister first after working seven year in order to marry Rachel. One of the most amazing statements of true love that Jacob states to his beloved wife Rachel is Genesis 29:20 NKJV: “So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed only a few days to him because of the love he had for her.” This texts has significance for me personally. My father married my mother in 1930 and soon after the marriage my father disappeared off the grid. He left my mother pregnant with my sister Zelma. She was born in December 1931. In 1945, as World War II ended, my father appears in Sofia with a car full of gifts for my mother and grandmother and my mother’s sister and brother. My sister is already 15 years old. This is the first time that she sees her father, a total stranger to her. However, my mother has waited 14 years for the man she loves and all these 14 years she didn’t know if he was dead or alive. When my father appears home in Sofia, all dressed up and with a car full of gifts, my mother receives him like Jacob receives Rachel and resumes her love for him as if those 14 years were just a few days, just like yesterday. My mother and father were two opposite sides of the political spectrum, but love bridged that gap and they were married until my father died in 1971. Their marriage lasted 40 years, not easy years because my father traveled in Europe and North Africa and South America all in capacity of his work. Sometimes he was gone for two or even three years. He was absent from home so much that two of my elementary school teachers used to take me to their home after school and feed me and help me do homework and only after 4:00 p.m send me home, because they knew that my mother would return from her job around 5:00 p.m. My mother Dora Shulam, was faithful to my father her only one true love. Jacob was faithful to Laban his father in-law who was also his uncle, his mother’s brother, even after he lied to Jacob and gave Leah to wed with the cultural excuse that you can’t give in marriage your younger daughter before your older daughter. I actually have serious doubts that such a rule or cultural demand existed in northern Syria in the late Middle Bronze age. He had to work another seven years to marry Rachel, the love of his life. Finally, after 14 years of working to marry Rachel and Leah, he has to work more to be able to have enough wealth to take his two wives back to Canaan. Laban now attempts to deceive Jacob a third time and keep him in Haran. This time the deception is financial, but Jacob is wiser than Laban and his flocks multiply quicker. This third time that Laban deceives Jacob is to keep him and his two wives, his daughters close to home. God blessed Jacob with wisdom and enriched him by returning to him multiple times over the wealth that Laban stole from him. The biblical narrative of our text from Genesis 28:10 – 32:3 is so very rich with short mini series of love and intrigue and jealousy and hate and financial success stories that it would take many pages of Jerusalem Prayer List to mention all of them. These stories hold such lessons that would benefit each one of us to read the Word of God regularly, starting daily even if it is in place of a bed-time story of 15 minutes. These stories convey with clarity the weaknesses and strengths of the character of our forefathers, their humanity. How relevant the Bible can become for your life if you just start in Genesis and read a few minutes of God’s Word, in the morning or in the evening or at noon time. But, do it consistently like taking your daily medicine. I can tell you what will happen to you if you do this simple thing, just read the Bible in order from Genesis to Revelation and don’t stop when you get to the last book of the Revelation of the Apostle John. Just go back to Genesis and start over. (By the way is the secret of success of religious Jews in the marketplace and in their families.) The word of God will thrill you cause you to have many questions, use your heart and your mind and pray and you will be surprised what God has done! ______________________________________________________________________ Dear brothers and sisters, now is the time! It is really Agape Love since you are doing this without any selfish interests and casting a vote in heaven for someone who is your brother but you don’t know him or her, and God looks at these prayers that are unselfish and true expression of love and care for another link in the long chain of love and faith that binds us together even though we might not know each other in this world. When we all get to heaven what a joy it will be to meet people that we prayed for and sometime even cried for brothers and sisters who are physically strangers, but spiritually a part of the same body of Christ that one day we will have the privilege to seat together and share: “I remember praying for you to be healed!” “I remember praying for you to be safe when you were fighting in Gaza to free the hostages from the cruel hands of the terrorists of the Hamas in Gaza.
Serious prayers for our war with Hamas to end soon and all the hostages to be returned safe and in one piece home to their loved ones!
Pray for our soldiers and especially for the soldiers that we know and appreciate: Yuda, Emanuel the son of Victor and Ayala, Amiel and Solomon and Ezekiel Intrater, Reuven and Clil Kovner, and any other children of Believers and of course for all of the men and women serving this country.
I hate that our boys, the men of our congregation, still serve in the Army and most of them in reserves have to fight and use weapons and do war to protect the civilian population of Israel from terrorism driven by hate and blindness.
Please pray for the Middle East and for the world to see and understand what the reality is here in this part of the world. The land that provided King David, the prophets, and Yeshua the Messiah – wants peace with our neighbors.
But they don’t want the hand that is stretched out in peace. They want to kill all the Jews and take their land, which is flourishing and a blessing for all the world, and make it a dump like their own place in Gaza and in the Arab countries.

Ilana Ahijervie, a dear sister who is 98 years old and suffering from memory problems.
Please pray for our dear sister Lea Kurkey.
Sarit, a sister born in Jerusalem, over 88 years old, lives alone. Has no close family, and suffers from several old-age illnesses.
Please keep praying for Marcia Shulam my wife. Pray that Marcia’s memory will stop weakening, and that her arthritis be healed and stop being active, and her strength to return to where she can take more care of herself.

Pray for the millions of victims of the Spanish and Portuguese Inquisition who have been forced to convert to the Catholic church, and now want to return home to the land of Israel and to the faith of our fathers.
Pray for the state of Israel to open the doors for these lost Jews to be able to return and fulfill God’s promises to the prophet Ovadyah:
“But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, And there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. The house of Jacob shall be a fire, And the house of Joseph a flame; But the house of Esau shall be stubble; They shall kindle them and devour them, And no survivor shall remain of the house of Esau, For the Lord has spoken. The South shall possess the mountains of Esau, And the Lowland shall possess Philistia. They shall possess the fields of Ephraim And the fields of Samaria. Benjamin shall possess Gilead. And the captives of this host of the children of Israel Shall possess the land of the Canaanites As far as Zarephath. The captives of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad Shall possess the cities of the South. Then saviors shall come to Mount Zion To judge the mountains of Esau, And the kingdom shall be the Lord’s.” — Obadiah 1:17-21 [NKJV]

Steve Mock - His cognitive condition has declined, and we ask for the grace of God and His Healing and strength. Steve and Josie’s son Joseph - named after Joseph Shulam – has received a wonderful and glorious report. After the last bone marrow transplant the report is that the doctors didn’t find any leukemia his body! Praise the Lord!
