가자지구에서의 전쟁과 북쪽에서는 헤즈볼라와의 전쟁이 끝나지 않고 있습니다. 이번 전쟁의 전선에서는 우리 사람들의 필요가 줄지 않고 있습니다. 주님께서 네티비야 성경교육사역과 로에 이스라엘 회중을 오직 하나님만이 여실 수 있는 방식으로 사용하고 계십니다. 하나님의 기적적인 직접 개입으로 네티비야만이 전선에 있는 우리 사람들에게 필요한 장비와 우리 군인들에게 따뜻한 식사를 공급하는 놀라운 일을 하고 있습니다. 네티비야가 그곳에서 하고 있는 육신적인 일들보다 더 중요한 것은 전 세계 수천의 기도 용사들이 손을 들고 마음을 올려드리며 주님 앞에 엎드려 이스라엘의 전능하신 하나님께 우리 원수들의 어두운 마음에 맞서 전선에 나가 있는 우리 사람들을 보호해주시고 인도해주시고 방향을 알려주시며, 저 어두운 마음들이 영원히 지옥의 불로 청소되도록 즉시 도우시기를 구하는 기도입니다. 이스라엘 편에 서주시고 가자지구와 북쪽 전장에 나가 있는 우리 사람들에게 많이 필요한 전술장비를 공급해주신 모든 분께 감사드립니다.
이번 안식일 토라 포션은 “톨돝”, 창세기 25:19~28:9입니다. 선지서에서 읽는 부분은 말라기 1:1~2:7이고, 신약성경에서는 로마서 9:1-13을 읽을 것입니다. 저는 이번 토라 포션에서의 가르침을 “톨돝”이라는 단어로 시작하고 싶습니다. 이 단어는 우리가 주의를 기울일만한 매우 흥미로운 단어입니다. 이 히브리어 단어의 어근은 ‘욜레드’인데요, ‘낳다’라는 뜻입니다. 히브리어 ‘톨레돝’은 문자 그대로 “낳음, 생식”이라는 뜻입니다. 이 “톨돝”이라는 단어는 히브리어 성경에 39회 나옵니다. 이것은 다음과 같이 번역되었습니다: 족보, 세대, 전말, 자손, 역사. 이러한 번역에서 우리가 볼 수 있는 것은 무엇일까요? 우리는 히브리어 단어 “톨돝”을 세대, 족보, 역사, 그 외 그냥 단순히 “전말”이라는 단어를 사용하는 많은 비전(秘傳)의 번역과 연관시키는 공통된 실이 있는 것을 볼 수 있습니다. 그런데 우리가 이 “톨돝”이라는 단어와 관련하여 특별히 참작해야 하는 한 곳이 있습니다: 창세기 5:1 “이것은 아담의 계보를 적은 책이니라 하나님이 사람을 창조하실 때에 하나님의 모양대로 지으시되”
이 구절을 두드러지게 만드는 것은 아담에게는 아무 족보(계보)도 없다는 사실입니다. 그는 하나님께서 진흙 덩어리로 지으시고 그 진흙 덩어리에 생기를 불어넣어 지음 받았습니다: 창세기 2:7 “여호와 하나님이 땅의 흙으로 사람을 지으시고 생기를 그 코에 불어넣으시니 사람이 생령이 되니라”
그럼, 아담은 어떤 종류의 ‘족보(계보)’가 있는 것일까요? - 아무 것도 없습니다! 아담은 아버지도 어머니도 없이 진흙 덩어리로 지음 받았습니다.
그런데, 이와 똑같은 구절이 나오는 구절이 한 곳 더 있습니다: 마태복음 1:1 “아브라함과 다윗의 자손 예수 그리스도의 계보라”
첫 번째 복음서를 쓴 예슈아의 사도들 중 한 명인 마태가 창세기 5:1을 인용하여 그의 복음서를 시작하고 있는 이유는 틀림없이 모두에게 분명할 것 같습니다. 그 이유는 분명합니다. 마태가 메시아 예슈아의 복음을 쓰던 당시에도 이미 예슈아의 출생 이야기에 대한 비판이 있었던 것입니다. 이미 동정녀 출생이라는 것은 가능하지가 않다고 말하는 사람들이 있었던 것입니다. 이러한 이유로 마태는 그의 복음서를 창세기 5:1을 인용한 구절로 시작하여 계속해서 14명의 이름 목록을 만들어 매우 정교한 예수님의 족보를 계속해 나갑니다. 여기서 14라는 숫자에 맞게 만든 것은 14가 히브리어의 다비드(다윗)의 글자값이기 때문입니다. 그는 이 족보에 히브리 민족의 어머니들 중 몇 명을 끼워넣고 있는데요, 모두 좋다고 할 수 없는 점이 있는 여인들입니다: 다말, 라합, 룻, 밧세바. 물론 적어도 룻은 분명 태생이 히브리인 혹은 유대인이 아닙니다. 그리고 이스라엘 사람들이 여리고를 기적적으로 함락하기 전에 이 고대 도시 출신인 라합도 마찬가지입니다. 여호수아와 이스라엘 자손이 여리고성을 함락할 당시 여리고는 이미 수천 년 된 도시였습니다. 여리고는 세계에서 가장 오래된 도시 중 하나입니다. 다시 이번 주 토라 포션으로 돌아갑니다! 창세기 25:19 아브라함의 아들 이삭의 족보는 이러하니라 아브라함이 이삭을 낳았고 20 이삭은 사십 세에 리브가를 맞이하여 아내를 삼았으니 리브가는 밧단 아람의 아람 족속 중 브두엘의 딸이요 아람 족속 중 라반의 누이였더라 21 이삭이 그의 아내가 임신하지 못하므로 그를 위하여 여호와께 간구하매 여호와께서 그의 간구를 들으셨으므로 그의 아내 리브가가 임신하였더니 22 그 아들들이 그의 태 속에서 서로 싸우는지라 그가 이르되 이럴 경우에는 내가 어찌할꼬 하고 가서 여호와께 묻자온대 23 여호와께서 그에게 이르시되 두 국민이 네 태중에 있구나 두 민족이 네 복중에서부터 나누이리라 이 족속이 저 족속보다 강하겠고 큰 자가 어린 자를 섬기리라 하셨더라.
리브가도 그녀의 시어머니 사라와 마찬가지로 임신하지 못해서, 사라처럼 하나님께 태를 열어주시도록 간구해야 했고 하나님께서는 그녀에게 두 아들을 주셨습니다. 이 둘은 리브가의 태 속에서부터 이미 싸우기 시작했습니다. 이 두 아기 사이의 싸움은 리브가의 도움으로 이스라엘 역사 대부분에 걸쳐 증오와 적의의 싸움이 되었습니다. 오늘날까지도 저희의 가장 힘들고 잔인하고 가학적인 원수들 중 일부는 유전적으로 유대인에게 가장 가까운 자들입니다. 저는 성령님께서 이삭의 족보를 시작하기 바로 전에 이스마엘의 족보부터 시작하는 것이 맞겠다고 보신 것이 매우 흥미롭다고 생각합니다. 이삭의 결혼 전에 이삭의 나이가 먼저 언급된 것도 매우 흥미롭습니다. 이삭이 리브가와 결혼하기 전에 마흔 살이라는 것을 우리가 들은 데에는 틀림없이 특별한 이유가 있습니다. 이스마엘이 열입곱 살 정도이고 이삭이 겨우 다섯 살 정도였을 때 이스마엘과 이삭 사이에 있었던 사건이 이삭이 결혼하고 싶어 하지 않도록 영향을 주어 그의 아버지 아브라함이 그의 종 엘리에젤을 시리아 북부/메소포타미아까지 보내 그의 아들 이삭을 위한 아내를 찾아오라고 했어야 했을 정도였음에 틀림없을 것입니다. 아브라함은 아들 이삭의 아내를 찾아 리브가를 이삭의 아내로 데려올 때 라반에게 줄 금과 선물과 신붓값을 실은 낙타들을 보내야 했습니다. 제가 언급하고 있는 본문 말씀은 창세기 21:9-10입니다: 사라가 본즉 아브라함의 아들 애굽 여인 하갈의 아들이 이삭을 놀리는지라 10 그가 아브라함에게 이르되 이 여종과 그 아들을 내쫓으라 이 종의 아들은 내 아들 이삭과 함께 기업을 얻지 못하리라 하므로.
이스마엘이 이삭에게 행하고 있던 일이 무엇이었든 사라는 그것을 본 즉시 아브라함에게 하갈과 그 아들 이스마엘을 내쫓으라고 할 정도로 심각했다는 것이 분명합니다.[1] 우리는 창세기에서 리브가의 태에서 나온 두 아기 야곱과 에서의 후손들의 역사가 이삭의 이 두 아들들의 어릴 때부터 시작된 분쟁의 역사라는 것을 볼 수 있습니다! 하나님께서 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 주신 이 땅에서 이스라엘의 가장 힘든 이웃들 대부분은 역사적으로나 정치적으로 이스라엘의 가장 쓰라린 원수들입니다. 이것은 역사에서만 그런 것이 아니라, 현재 독립국 민주주의 이스라엘 국가의 생존에 있어서도 마찬가지입니다. 우리는 리브가의 태에서 시작된 싸움이 제가 이 예루살렘 기도 목록을 쓰고 있는 오늘까지도 계속되고 있는 것을 보고 있습니다. 한 가족 식구 간의 싸움보다 더 쓰라린 것은 없습니다. 역사적으로 동기가 된 형제 간의 증오를 청산하는 일보다 더 힘든 일은 없습니다. 저는 똑같은 잘못을 저지르고 똑같은 해를 끼치는 가까운 가족의 일원을 용서하고 축복하는 것보다 어느 정도 먼 사람과 화해하고 용서하는 것이 더 쉽다는 것을 알게 되었습니다. 여러분의 가족인 누군가가 여러분에게 끔찍한 악을 행하는 끔찍하고 나쁜 일이 있을 때, 용서하고 화해하는 일은 매우 어렵습니다. 저는 여러분께 지금 저희 나라 남쪽으로는 이스라엘과 가자지구 사이의 전쟁, 북쪽으로는 이스라엘과 이란을 대리한 헤즈볼라 사이의 전쟁을 놓고 기도해 주시기를 부탁드려야 할 것 같습니다. 이 전쟁은 양쪽에 비극을 가져오며 이삭과 리브가의 두 아들 에서와 야곱 사이에 번영과 평화를 가져오는 대신 계속 증오와 적의를 키워가는 전쟁입니다. 이 토라 포션에서 배워야 할 아주 중요한 교훈이 하나 더 있습니다! 가족과는 사업을 하지 마십시오. 여러분의 형제자매와는 사고 팔고 하지 마십시오. 형제자매와는 금전적 이득을 얻으려고 거래하지 마십시오! 여러분의 재산을 가지고, 여러분이 재산이 없다면 가난한 중에라도, 선물을 주고 서로 축복하는 것이 훨씬 더 낫습니다. 여러분의 가난 중에는 시간을 나눠주고 육신으로 할 수 있는 일로 서로를 위해 일을 해주어 도와주고 빚을 계산하지 말고 갚으라고 요구하지 마십시오. 가족이 빚을 갚지 않더라도 위협하거나 채근하지 마십시오. 가족 간의 관계가 그 어떤 사업이나 금전 거래보다 훨씬 더 중요하므로 정중하고 돈이 필요한 점을 나누고 언제나 충분한 호의를 베푸십시오. 이번 토라 포션에서 야곱은 에서의 배고픔을 이용해 그에게 이삭의 축복과 기업을 대가로 한 그릇의 죽을 팝니다. 그리고 리브가는 야곱을 도와, 사실 야곱이 그의 아버지와 그의 형에게 거짓말을 하게 만들어, 결국에는 야곱이 그의 삼촌 라반의 집에서 양치기로 21년을 살고 돌아와 요단강을 건널 때 그의 형 에서가 그를 만날 때 군대와 함께 만나게 되었습니다. 야곱은 에서에게 선물을 쏟아부었는데요, 여러분이 그 가치를 계산해보면 그가 이삭에게서 받는 유산보다 배 이상이나 되었을 것입니다. 사실, 여기서 흥미로운 점은 결국 눈이 어두운 이삭이 야곱에게 축복해주고 에서에게도 축복해 주었다는 것입니다. 이 두 축복을 비교해보고 야곱과 에서 중에 누가 더 가치있는 축복을 받았는지 보도록 합시다. 야곱에 대한 이삭의 축복
창세기 27:27-29, … 내 아들의 향취는 여호와께서 복 주신 밭의 향취로다 하나님은 하늘의 이슬과 땅의 기름짐이며 풍성한 곡식과 포도주를 네게 주시기를 원하노라 만민이 너를 섬기고 열국이 네게 굴복하리니 네가 형제들의 주가 되고 네 어머니의 아들들이 네게 굴복하며 너를 저주하는 자는 저주를 받고 너를 축복하는 자는 복을 받기를 원하노라 에서에 대한 이삭의 축복

여러분이 개인적으로 모르는 형제자매들을 위해 드리는 기도는 순전한 사랑이며 순전히 메시아의 몸을 세우는 것입니다. 여러분이 이기적인 이해 관계 없이 여러분이 모르지만 형제인 누군가를 위해 천국에서 투표를 하는 것이기에 이것은 진정한 아가페 사랑입니다. 그리고 하나님께서는 우리가 이 세상에서는 서로 모를지라도 우리를 함께 묶는 사랑과 믿음의 긴 사슬로 연결된 다른 사람을 위해 하는 이기적이지 않고 참된 사랑과 관심의 표현인 이 기도를 보고 계십니다. 우리가 천국에 가서 우리가 위해서 기도했던 사람들과, 때로는 육신적으로는 모르지만 영적으로는 언젠가 함께 앉아 “제가 당신이 치유되도록 기도한 것이 기억납니다!”, “제가 당신이 가자지구 하마스 테러리스트들의 손아귀에서 인질들을 구하기 위해 가자지구에서 싸울 때 당신이 안전하도록 기도한 것이 기억납니다!” 이야기 나누게 될 같은 그리스도의 몸의 지체이기에 위해서 부르짖었던 형제자매들을 만나게 된다면 얼마나 기쁠까요!
하마스와의 전쟁이 조속히 끝나고 모든 인질들이 안전하고 온전하게 그들의 사랑하는 가족에게로 돌아오도록 진지하게 기도해 주십시오!
저희 병사들을 위해서, 특히 우리가 알고 귀히 여기는 병사들을 위해서 기도해 주십시오: 유다, 빅터와 아얄라의 아들 에마누엘, 아미엘·솔로몬·에제카이엘 인트레이터, 루우벤·클릴 코브너, 그 외 믿는 이들의 자녀들, 또한 이 나라를 위해 복무 중인 모든 남녀.
우리는 이런 일이 계속 사례가 되도록, 세계가 이스라엘이 평화에 관심 없는 사람들을 대하고 있음을 알도록 기도해야 합니다. 그들은 이스라엘과 유대인에 대한 증오를 원동력 삼으며 그들의 생각에 평화는 가장 마지막에 오는 과격 이슬람주의자들입니다.
저희 정부는 몇 달 동안 이 판도라의 상자를 열어, 유대인을 죽임으로써 평화로운 이스라엘 국민을 공포에 몰아넣을 뿐만 아니라 자기편 사람들이 이스라엘에서 급여가 좋은 일자리에서 일하여 가족들을 부양할 수 있게 하지도 못하게 하는 테러리스트들을 없애는 일을 참고 있었습니다.
저는 아직 군복무 중이거나 대부분 예비군인 저희 회중의 자녀들이 맹목적인 증오가 원동력인 테러주의자들로부터 이스라엘 민간인들을 보호하기 위해 무기를 들고 전쟁에 나가 싸워야 하는 것이 정말 싫습니다.
중동과 세계를 위해 여기 이 지역에서 무엇이 사실인지 보고 알도록 기도해 주시기 바랍니다. 다윗왕과 선지자들과 메시아 예슈아를 내놓은 이 땅은 저희 이웃들과의 평화를 원합니다.
그러나 그들은 평화를 위해 내민 손을 외면합니다. 그들은 유대인들을 죽이고, 지금 번성하며 전 세계에 복이 되고 있는 이 땅을 빼앗아 가자지구와 아랍국가들에 있는 그들의 정착지들처럼 쓰레기장으로 만들고자 합니다.
하나님의 은혜와, 치유와 힘을 주시는 하나님의 부드러운 손길이 필요한 예루살렘의 다음 형제자매님들을 위해 기도해 주십시오.

The Jerusalem Prayer List – November 16, 2023

The war in Gaza and in the north with the Hizballah is not stopping. The needs of our men in the front lines of this war are not decreasing. The LORD is using Netivyah Bible Instruction Ministry and the Roeh Israel Congregation in ways that only God could open. Netivyah only by a direct and miraculous intervention of God is doing a fantastic work of both supplying our men in the front with necessary equipment and also providing hot meals for our soldiers. Above all the physical things that Netivyah is doing there the more important prayers of many thousands of prayer warriors around the world that are lifting up their hands and their hearts and prostrating themselves before the Lord begging the Almighty God of Israel to protect and guide and direct our men in the front lines to the dark chambers of our enemies hearts, and instantly help them get cleaned by hell fire forever. Thank you all who are standing with Israel and providing the much-needed tactical equipment for our men in the battlefield, both in Gaza and in the North.
The Torah reading for this shabbat is from the Torah Portion called TOLDOT, Genesis 25:19 – 28:9. From the Prophets our reading will be from Malachi 1:1 – 2:7. From the New Testament, we will read from Romans 9:1-13. I would like to start this teaching from our Torah Reading with the word TOLDOT, This is a very interesting word and deserves our attention. The rood of this Hebrew word is YOLED – with means to give birth. Heb. tōlᵉdōt means literally “begettings.” This word “Toldot” appears in the Hebrew Bible 39 times. It is translated into English in the following ways: NKJV – genealogy, KJV – generations, NIV + GWT - account, NRSV – descendants, WEB – history, Webster Bible – generations. What do we see from these English translations? We see that there is a common thread that relates the Hebrew Word “TOLDOT” with generations, genealogy, history, and many of the esoteric English translations just simply use “Account!” However, there is one place that we need to take special account with this word, TOLDOT: Genesis 5:1 “This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God.” What makes this verse stand out is the fact that Adam didn’t have any genealogy. He was created by God from a lump of clay that God breath into this lump of clay Genesis 2:7 “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” So, what kind of ‘genealogy’ did Adam have – none! Adam didn’t have a father or a mother he was created from a lump of clay. However, it is interesting that there is one more place that this same verse appears, Matthew chapter 1:1, “The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham:” It must be obvious to all why Matthew, one of Yeshua’s apostles who is writing the first Gospel is starting it with this quotation from Genesis 5:1…. The reason is clear, already in the days that Matthew is writing the Gospel of Yeshua the Messiah there is already criticism of the birth story of Yeshua. There is already some people who say that a virgin birth is not possible. For this reason Matthew starts his Gospel with this text from Genesis 5:1, and continues with the very elaborate genealogy of Jesus that creates a list of 14 names because the numerical value of the name DAVID in Hebrew is 14…. He also inserts in this genealogy some of the mothers of the Hebrew nation, all of which have some dubious character: Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba, and of course at least Ruth for sure is not born as a Hebrew or Jewish, and neither is Rahab who was from Jericho before the Israelite miraculous conquest of that ancient city. In the time of Joshua and the Children of Israel conquered the city of Jericho it was already thousands of years old. Jericho is one of the oldest cities in the world. Back to our Torah portion for this shabbat! Genesis 25:19, “This is the genealogy of Isaac, Abraham’s son. Abraham begot Isaac. 20 Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah as wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian. 21 Now Isaac pleaded with the LORD for his wife, because she was barren; and the LORD granted his plea, and Rebekah his wife conceived. 22 But the children struggled together within her; and she said, “If all is well, why am I like this?|” So she went to inquire of the LORD. 23 “And the LORD said to her: “Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples (nations) shall be separated from your body; One people shall be stronger than the other, And the older shall serve the younger.”” It is also interesting that like Sarah her mother-in-law Rebecca too was not able to have children, and like Sarah God Rebecca also had to plead with God to open Rebecca’s womb and give her two sons, that started the war between these two already in Rebecca’s womb. The struggle between the two babies became with Rebecca’s help a struggle of hate and enmity throughout much of Israel’s history. Some of our most difficult and cruel and sadistic enemies, even today are genetically closest to the Jewish race. I find it very interesting that the Spirit saw fit to start with the genealogy of Ishmael just before he embarked into the genealogy of Isaac. It is also very interesting that Isaac’s age is mentioned before his marriage. There must be some special reason why we are told that Isaac was 40 years old before he married Rebecca. The interlud between Ishamael and Isaac when Ishamel was about 17 years old and Isaac was only about 5 years old must have influenced Isaac not to want to get married bad enough and his father Abraham had do send his servant Eliezer all the way to upper Syria / Mesopotamia to find a wife for his son Isaac. For this wife Abraham had to send camels loaded with gold and gifts and payment to Laban to get Rebecca as a wife for Isaac his son. The text that I am referring to is from Genesis 21:9-10, “And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, scoffing. 10 Therefore she said to Abraham, “Cast out this bondwoman and her son; for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, namely with Isaac.” It is clear that whatever Sarah saw Ishmael doing to Isaac was serious enough to immediately command Abraham to cast out Hagar and her son Ishmael.[1] We see in the book of Genesis and in the history of the descendants of both Jacob and Esau, the two babies that came out of Rebecca’s womb is a history of conflict from a young age of these two sons of Isaac! Many of Israel’s most difficult neighbors in the Land that God gave to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, are both historically and politically Israel’s bitterest enemies. It is not only true historically, but it is also true in our own and very immediate season of our existence as an independent and democratic state of Israel. We see the struggle that started in Rebecca’s womb continues even as I am writing this Jerusalem Prayer List today. There is nothing more bitter than a war between members of the same family. There is nothing more difficult than to clean up historically motivated hate between brothers…. I find it easier to make peace and forgive some distant soul that did me harm than to forgive and bless some close family member that did the same wrong and the same harm. There is something horrible and bad when someone who is you family does you something horribly evil. Forgiving and making peace becomes very difficult. I must ask you to pray right now for the war between Israel and Gaza in our south and Israel and the Hizballah, Iran’s proxy, from the North. It is a war that brings tragedy to both sides and keeps rolling forward the hate and enmity in place of having prosperity and peace between these sons of Isaac and Rebecca, Esau and Jacob. I have another very important lesson to be learned from this Torah portion! Don’t do business with family members, don’t buy and sell with your brothers and sisters, don’t trade with them for financial gain! It is much better give gifts and bless each other with your wealth even from your poverty if you are not wealthy. From your poverty share time and help with physical things, do things for each other, don’t calculate debts and demand payments. If a family member doesn’t return debts – don’t threaten and don’t press. Be gracious and share your need for the money and always give enough grace because family relationship is much more important than any business or financial transaction. In our Torah portion Jacob took advantage of Esau’s hunger and sold him a bowl of soup for his blessing and inheritance from Isaac, and Rebecca helped Jacob, in fact lead Jacob to lie to his father and to his brother, and in the end when Jacob returns from being 21 years in uncle Laban, house working as a shepherd and he crosses the Jordan River his brother Esau meets Jacob with an army. Jacob showers Esau with gifts that when you calculate their value might be more than double a full payment for any inheritance that he got from Isaac. In fact, what is interesting here is that in the end Isaac, blind old Isaac blesses Jacob and also blesses Esau, and let us compare these two blessings and see who got more valuable blessing, Jacob or Esau. Isaac’s blessing on Jacob Genesis 27: 27-29, “Surely, the smell of my son Is like the smell of a field Which the LORD has blessed. Therefore, may God give you of the dew of heaven, of the fatness of the earth, and plenty of grain and wine. Let peoples serve you, and nations bow down to you. Be master over your brethren and let your mother’s sons bow down to you. Cursed be everyone who curses you, and blessed be those who bless you!” Isaac’s blessing on Esau Genesis 27:39-40, “Then Isaac his father answered and said to him: “Behold, your dwelling shall be of the fatness of the earth, And of the dew of heaven from above. By your sword you shall live, And you shall serve your brother; And it shall come to pass, when you become restless, That you shall break his yoke from your neck.” These stories are at the very root of the Israeli Arab conflict until now, we Jews are the descendants of Jacob and the Arabs are the decedents of Ishmael. The blessing that was engineered by Rebecca and the Arabs are the decedents of Jacob continued to seek to improve the land and be a part of this blessings and Esau was a nomad fighting character and all we have to do is look at his offspring. Marcia and I we are still with Barry our Son and Beth our daughter-in-law in Middle Tennessee. We would have returned home to Israel although the war there is still raging, and rockets are still flying both from the South and from the North be the Hizballah. Please pray for us to return home with the third attempt this time with EL – AL the Israeli airlines on December 10th, 2023. As most of you dear brothers who stand with Israel and with Netivyah during these days know I have retired in August 2022, and am no longer receiving a salary from Netivyah Israel. I am still working just as much for Netivyah in Israel as I am working for Netivyah USA. I have traveled in the last month to Brazil for the 25th Anniversary and it was a marvelous event with about 1000 participants from all around Brazil and some guests from the USA and me from Israel and others from Portugal and other countries in South America. From Brazil I returned for four days to Tennessee and took a very long flight to Goa India for the Asia Messianic Forum. Both events were marvelous and inspiring and Just a few days later returned to the United States of America. In the course of 16 days, I was on an airplane for over 40 hours and traveled more than 20,000 miles. In every location it was wonderful and challenging. Netivyah in Israel is doing a great job serving and suppling our soldiers in the battlefields with things that have tactical and military significance that will help our men in uniform have an edge over the enemy and also things for their comfort and for their stomach. Everything is truly a miracle, and the soldiers are so happy to receive that help like up-to-date bullet proof vests with ceramic plates that sophisticated drones that can help locate the enemy from the sky and many other things that the men in the battlefields in Gaza and in the Northern Galilee need, even coffee making field kits. In the United States I have been speaking in Churches and encouraging Christians to help through Netivyah Israel and those in the United States or have easier way to help Netivyah through the United States and also receive the tax credit for their contributions, ought to use the USA connection to deposit their contributions so that they can get their tax credit. I know that every little bit helps, and why not take advantage of the tax laws in the USA that allow this benefit. Our plan is to do a updated webpage for Netivyah USA that will especially concentrate help for Netivyah and the war effort in Israel and re-orient ourselves for the post war in the Middle East to be of help to both our brothers and sisters in Israel and also look for ways to be a blessing and show our concern and try to help brothers and sisters in the Messiah among the Arab Christian population in the war zones. _________________________________________ [1] The word “scoffing” or “Mocking” in this verse of Genesis 21:9-10 is used two more times in the book of Genesis and the context in these other times is clearly sexual and the Rabbis explain that whatever happened between Ishmael and Isaac in this occasion was the reason why Isaac didn’t show much interest in women and Abraham his father had to send his old servant Eliezer to fetch for Isaac a wife. Please read the following texts in Genesis to understand better what was going on there between little Isaac his older half-brother Ishmael. Our dear brother and friend Jonathan Bernis is in the intensive care unit hospital in Phoenix. He has liver problems, and we all need to join in prayer with Jonathan and all family, friends, and brothers in the Messiah for a quick liver transplant. Please pray for Elisangela and the girls and also for the doctors and nurses that are attending our dear brother Jonathan Bernis.
The second special prayer request is for a dear young man, Andrew Huffines, he has complications from long term covid.
We have the long list of prayer requests from all around the world, and I know for sure how important it is for you to lift these brothers and sisters in prayer.
Your prayers for brothers and sisters whom you don’t know personally is a pure love and pure building of the Body of the Messiah. It is really Agape Love since you are doing this without any selfish interests and casting a vote in heaven for someone who is your brother but you don’t know him or her, and God looks at these prayers that are unselfish and true expression of love and care for another link in the long chain of love and faith that binds us together even though we might not know each other in this world. When we all get to heaven what a joy it will be to meet people that we prayed for and sometime even cried for brothers and sisters who are physically strangers, but spiritually a part of the same body of Christ that one day we will have the privilege to seat together and share: “I remember praying for you to be healed!” “I remember praying for you to be safe when you were fighting in Gaza to free the hostages from the cruel hands of the terrorists of the Hamas in Gaza.
Serious prayers for our war with Hamas to end soon and all the hostages to be returned safe and in one piece home to their loved ones!
Pray for our soldiers and especially for the soldiers that we know and appreciate: Yuda, Emanuel the son of Victor and Ayala, Amiel and Solomon and Ezekiel Intrater, Reuven and Clil Kovner, and any other children of Believers and of course for all of the men and women serving this country.
We need to pray that this continues to be the case. We need to pray for the World to understand and see that Israel is dealing with people who are not interested in peace. They are radical Islamists who are only driven by hate for Israel and for Jews and peace is the last thing on their minds.
Our government was holding back for months from opening this Pandora’s box and getting rid of the terrorists that are not only killing Jews and terrorizing the peaceful Israeli population but also preventing their people from working in Israel in good-paying jobs that provide honorable living for their families.
I hate that our boys, the men of our congregation, still serve in the Army and most of them in reserves have to fight and use weapons and do war to protect the civilian population of Israel from terrorism driven by hate and blindness.
Please pray for the Middle East and for the world to see and understand what the reality is here in this part of the world. The land that provided King David, the prophets, and Yeshua the Messiah – wants peace with our neighbors.
But they don’t want the hand that is stretched out in peace. They want to kill all the Jews and take their land, which is flourishing and a blessing for all the world, and make it a dump like their own place in Gaza and in the Arab countries.
In Jerusalem pray for the following brothers and sisters who need divine grace and the gentle touch of the hand of God for healing and strength.
Ilana Ahijervie, a dear sister who is 98 years old and suffering from memory problems.
Please pray for our dear sister Lea Kurkey.
Sarit, a sister born in Jerusalem, over 88 years old, lives alone. Has no close family, and suffers from several old-age illnesses.
Please keep praying for Marcia Shulam my wife. Pray that Marcia’s memory will stop weakening, and that her arthritis be healed and stop being active, and her strength to return to where she can take more care of herself.
Also ask prayer for me and my family and for all the sick and needing healing and grace from our Heavenly Father!
Your prayers for Alexander and Sarah, and Andrew, who were raised as believers and have left their faith behind, have been answered, the Divine Shepherd guided these members of the same family gently back to the fold, please keep praying for their general and spiritual welfare!

Pray for the congregations related to Netivyah in Brazil, to have the strength and stamina to face the challenges in front of them with courage and strength of faithfulness to the Lord, and to the vision of the restoration of the church and Israel.
Pray for the millions of victims of the Spanish and Portuguese Inquisition who have been forced to convert to the Catholic church, and now want to return home to the land of Israel and to the faith of our fathers.
Pray for the state of Israel to open the doors for these lost Jews to be able to return and fulfill God’s promises to the prophet Ovadyah:
“But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, And there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. The house of Jacob shall be a fire, And the house of Joseph a flame; But the house of Esau shall be stubble; They shall kindle them and devour them, And no survivor shall remain of the house of Esau, For the Lord has spoken. The South shall possess the mountains of Esau, And the Lowland shall possess Philistia. They shall possess the fields of Ephraim And the fields of Samaria. Benjamin shall possess Gilead. And the captives of this host of the children of Israel Shall possess the land of the Canaanites As far as Zarephath. The captives of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad Shall possess the cities of the South. Then saviors shall come to Mount Zion To judge the mountains of Esau, And the kingdom shall be the Lord’s.” — Obadiah 1:17-21 [NKJV]

Lift for blessing and healing Jonathan B. and his wife Aviva and their new baby, his mother, and his brother Daniel. Pray for these very important men of God: Rabbi Salt, his family, and Rabbi Hasselblad. They are both older and need protection and blessings.
Also, pray for Ilana Avramov who is married to my cousin Nissim and lives in New York City. Ilana has fallen and in now in rehab learning how to walk again. We pray for her full recovery. She and Nissim both need our prayers.
Steve Mock - His cognitive condition has declined, and we ask for the grace of God and His Healing and strength. Steve and Josie’s son Joseph - named after Joseph Shulam – has received a wonderful and glorious report. After the last bone marrow transplant the report is that the doctors didn’t find any leukemia his body! Praise the Lord!
Pray for three women of God in Canada who need healing, Lynda, Sandy and Joanne.
