예루살렘 기도 목록 – 2020년 8월 13일
요셉 슐람, 이스라엘 예루살렘 이번 안식일 토라 포션은 “르에”라고 하는 신명기 11:26~16:17입니다. 이 포션은 토라 중에서 제가 제일 좋아하는 부분 중 하나입니다. 저는 선택하는 것을 좋아합니다. 이 토라 포션의 첫 구절은 우리 온 인류에게 개인의 삶에 가장 중요한 선택을 제시합니다: “내가 오늘 복과 저주를 너희 앞에 두나니 너희가 만일 내가 오늘 너희에게 명하는 너희의 하나님 여호와의 명령을 들으면 복이 될 것이요 너희가 만일 내가 오늘 너희에게 명령하는 도에서 돌이켜 떠나 너희의 하나님 여호와의 명령을 듣지 아니하고 본래 알지 못하던 다른 신들을 따르면 저주를 받으리라.” – 신명기 11:26–28 바른 정신을 가진 사람이라면 누가 복보다 저주를 선택하겠습니까? 글쎄, 하나님의 선한 지구 위 대부분의 사람들은 복이 아니라 저주를 선택했습니다. 여기에 우주의 창조주께서 내려주신 원칙은 그렇게 복잡하지 않습니다. 여러분이 기계장치나 전자기기를 사면 그 새 “장난감”을 가지고 뭘 하고 어떻게 사용해야 하는지를 알려주는 핸드북이나, 혹은 요즘은 전자문서로 된 사용설명서를 받습니다. 여러분이 똑똑하고 현명하다면 먼저 설명서를 읽고 그 책에서 언제, 무엇을, 어떻게를 배울 것입니다. 여러분이 대부분의 사람들 같다면 즉흥적으로 해보고 힘들게 자기 식으로 알아내려고 할 것입니다. 전자기기 설명서를 무시하는 것은 현명하지 않으나, 손해는 단지 새 기계를 망가뜨리는 것뿐이거나 돈을 낭비하는 정도일 것입니다. 그러나 하나님께서 우리에게 주신 설명서인 성경 안에 있는 가르침을 무시하는 것은 여러분에게 훨씬 큰 댓가를 치르게 하는데요, 심지어 하나님께서 여러분께 가까이 계시지 않는 영원의 댓가를 치르게 될 수도 있습니다. 주님께서는 선하시며 은혜로우시며 오래 참으시며 은혜와 진리가 충만하십니다. 하나님께서는 세계와 그 안에 있는 만물을 만드셨고, 그분의 자녀인 인류가 우리의 존재의 목적을 이루기를 원하십니다. 우리가 우리 주 하나님의 명령을 따른다면 축복입니다. 이제 메시아 예슈아의 제자인 우리는 토라가 말하고 있는 것과 예슈아께서 그분의 제자들에게 가르치신 것 사이에 어떤 모순을 찾을 수 있을까요? 입니다. 저는 세 가지를 제안합니다: 첫째, 주님을 더 잘 알기를 구하며 하나님의 말씀을 진지하게, 개인적으로, 성실하게 읽고 공부하십시오. 여러분은 하나님의 말씀에서 하나님을 발견하시기를 바라십시오. 여러분이 하나님의 말씀을 읽을 때 여러분을 그 장면에 두도록 해 보십시오. 아브라함에 대해 읽을 때는 여러분이 그의 종이라고 상상해 보십시오. 시내산에서 율법을 주시는 이야기를 읽을 때는 여러분이 그 산자락에 있다고 상상해 보십시오. 예슈아께서 십자가에 달리시는 것에 대해 읽을 때는 여러분이 십자가에서 약 9 미터 떨어진 곳에 있고 주님께서 로마 십자가에서 죽임 당하고 있다고 상상해 보십시오. 여러분은 어떤 감정을 느끼게 될까요? 여러분은 뭘 하고자 할까요? 이야기 속 인물들을 동정하고 그들과 공감함으로 하나님의 말씀이 생생하게 살아있게 만드십시오. 성경의 서사에 낯선 사람이 되지 마십시오. 성경을 교회 책의 하나로 읽지 마시기 바랍니다. 성경을 하나님께서 인류에게 드러내신 계시로 읽으십시오. 둘째, 여러분과 가까운 다른 사람들에게 여러분을 흥분시키고 여러분이 더 신실해지도록 감동을 준 하나님의 말씀을 나누십시오. 이것이 단순하게 하나님께서 다스리시고 예수님께서 곧 오신다는 복음을 전하는 것입니다. 셋째, 여러분의 과거에서 후회하는 것들을 생각하고 주님 앞에 회개하고 그분의 용서와 은혜를 받아들이시고, 여러분의 삶을 계속하며 주님께 여러분을 성령으로 충만케 해주시고 인도해주시라고 기도하십시오. 엘리야의 때는 하나님께서 우리를 불러 각기 자기의 소견에 옳은 대로 행하는 것을 그치라고 하시는 때입니다(신명기 12:8 참조)!
이스라엘은 아직도 코로나바이러스와 싸우고 있는데요, 2차 창궐 중이며 매일 코로나바이러스 신규 확진자가 2,000명 가량 생기고 있습니다.
사망자수는 500명이 넘었고, 사망자의 평균연령은 82세입니다. 이것은 노인들과 당뇨병 같은 기저질환이 있는 사람들이 제일 위험하다는 것을 보여줍니다. 코로나바이러스가 어느 정도 변이된 것 같기는 합니다. 지금은 훨씬 더 젊은 사람들조차 고위험군에 들고 많은 사람들이 코로나바이러스 합병증으로 죽고 있습니다.
우리는 전 세계와 각자의 나라를 위해 그리고 거기에 이스라엘을 추가하여 기도해야 합니다. 저는 이 코로나바이러스가 이스라엘을 훈육하여 그들이 하나님과 더 좋은 관계로 회복되고 그들의 창조주를 더 존경하도록 하나님께서 보내셨던 성경의 다른 모든 염병 같은 전염병이라고 믿습니다. 이스라엘이 회개했을 때나 모세가 들어 올렸던 놋뱀을 바라보았을 때, 그들은 치유 받았습니다.
우리 모두는 우리 지도자들이 우리를 회개로, 죄와 허물을 고백하는 데로 이끌어 주님께서 이 코로나바이러스를 이 땅에서 거두시고, 우리가 주님을 기억하며 그분의 의와 진리의 길로 걸어가기를 구하도록 기도합니다.

The Jerusalem Prayer List – August 13, 2020
by Joseph Shulam, Jerusalem, Israel The Torah reading this Shabbat is called “Re’eh” – Deuteronomy 11:26 – 16:17. This reading is one of my favorite texts in the Torah. I love choices and the first verse of the Torah reading gives us, and all humanity, the most important choice in a person’s life: “Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse: the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you today; and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known.” – Deuteronomy 11:26–28 [NKJV] Now who in his right mind would chose the curse over the blessings? Well, the fact is that most people on God’s good earth have chosen the curse and not the blessing. The principle that is set down here by the creator of the universe is not so complicated. When you buy any mechanical or electronic device you get a handbook or today you get an electronic file with instructions on what to do and how to use your new “toy.” If you are intelligent and smart you will first read the instructions and learn from the book how, what, and when. If you are like many people you will try to wing it and to figure it out the hard and solitary way. To ignore the instructions for an electronic device is not smart, but the damage would probably be just breaking the new gadget and possible financial loss. To ignore the instructions that God gave us in His instruction book, the Bible, could cost you much more and even an eternity where God is not near you. The Lord is good and gracious and long-suffering, full of grace and truth. He made the world and all that is in it and He wants His children, the human race, to fulfill the very purpose of our existence. The blessing is if we obey the commandments of our Lord God. Now as disciples of Yeshua the Messiah, can we find any contradiction between what the Torah says and what Yeshua taught His disciples? I will not make this a long and drawn out prayer list – but I will give you one example from the very end of Yeshua’s ministry here on Earth. What did Yeshua command His disciples before He ascended to Heaven and returned to the Father to sit at His right hand? Yeshua’s last words to His disciples are: “‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.” – Matthew 28:18-20 [NKJV] I find it very strange that Yeshua in His last instructions to His apostles commands them to make disciples of all the nations and this is all that the majority of Christians in the world note, only taking into consideration the beginning of Yeshua’s statement: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…” The second half of Yeshua’s statement is completely ignored by ninety-eight percent of those who call themselves “Christians” – followers of the Christ (Messiah). I have been a disciple of Yeshua the Messiah since 1962, and there has not been one weekend that I have missed having fellowship with brothers and sisters who follow Yeshua and are members of churches and are active disciples of Yeshua, and many were or are missionaries. The Great Commission. This is what this text of Matthew 28:18-20 is called. I would not be exaggerating if I were to say that since 1962 I have heard at least 1000 sermons by some of the famous television “evangelists” promoting this text from Matthew 28. Every one of these preachers, pastors, and evangelists stopped the quotation of Matthew 28:18-20 at the end of verse 19. Verse 20 was completely ignored. It is ignored because the average Christian leader does not know what to do with this text. The responses that I have heard from preachers of name to this question are too many to list here, but let me share at least a few of the answers that church leaders gave me: Did Jesus give us commandments that we must obey today? Why do we need to keep the commandments Jesus delivered to us in the Gospels? Another explanation is that these words of Jesus before the resurrection are a part of God’s revelation to Moses and the children of Israel and the revelation of the Lord through the prophets of the Old Testament. If Jesus is teaching or contradicting the revelation of the Lord to Moses and the Prophets, He is contradicting His own commitment and teachings in the Gospels. The apostle Paul himself kept all the Torah and commandments by his own confession: “…though I also might have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ.” – Philippians 3:4-7 [NKJV] (See also Acts 25:8, 28:17, Romans 3:29-31.) Another answer: “We are saved by Grace and not by works!” Commandments that we need to keep have never had the power to save us, but not keeping them has the power to damn us for not being faithful and hearing and obeying the will of our father in Heaven. Our faithfulness to God is measured by our doing the will of our father in Heaven, hearing His voice, and doing His will is the basis of God’s grace. Here is what Jeremiah the prophet said to Israel nearly 2,750 years ago: “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: ‘Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices and eat meat. For I did not speak to your fathers, or command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices. But this is what I commanded them, saying, “Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.”’” – Jeremiah 7:21–23 [NKJV] Read the letter of James (Jacob) and 1 John, the words of Jesus in the sermon on the mount in Matthew 5 - 7 and see that this is the teaching not only of Moses, but also of the New Testament. Faith is essential, and grace is the help that God has given us to be able to do His will and obey Him. He is not the God of lawlessness or of anarchy or chaos. He is not the God of “each man does what is right in his own eyes.” Just follow this phrase in the Bible and you will discover how angry God gets when this happens and His reaction to the generation where each man does what is right in his own eyes. Dear brothers, please read this week’s portion there are so many important principles that you will gain from seeing how God has dealt with the children of Israel. Remember that God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. God is the constant and we humans, are the variables. This coronavirus might last three years according to some medical scientists and commentators.I believe that like in the days of Elijah this plague will shake and break the systems of the world. The institutions that people chose to lean on and depend upon are weakening and our trust and reliance on our rulers is being shaken all around the world. These are the days of Elijah. The days where a few individuals are called by the almighty Lord of all, to stand in the gap and call God’s people to stand for what is good, and holy, and just, and righteous! Some of the churches that have been busy to magnify themselves and their preachers have become obtuse to the real world and the mission that God gave us in His word. At the end of this coronavirus we will see the Mount Carmel ordeal repeated worldwide. The faithful will face the worldly church and call upon the Lord to send fire from heaven, God’s powerful revelation to the world in a tangible and visible demonstration. God’s faithful children in the world need to prepare for the demonstration of God’s power, and hopefully for the revelation of the Messiah to the unsaved Asian continent. The question for all of us is how to prepare for these days that are coming? I have three suggestions: First, read and study the word of God seriously, and personally, and sincerely seek to know the Lord better. You want to discover God from His Word. When you read God’s word try to put yourselves in the picture. When you read about Abraham imagine that you are his servant. When you read about the giving of the law at Mt. Sinai, imagine you are there at the foot of the mountain. When you read about the crucifixion of Yeshua imagine that you are right there about 30 feet from the cross and your Lord is being killed on the Roman cross. What are the emotions that you will be feeling! What would you be willing to do? Make the Word of God alive through sympathy and empathy with the characters. Don’t be a stranger to the biblical narratives. Please don’t read the Bible like a church book. Read it like the history of God’s revelation to humanity. Second, share with others who are close to you the words of God that excite you and move you to be more faithful. This is the simple spread of the good news that God is in control and Jesus is coming back. Third, think of things that you regret from your past and repent before the Lord and accept His forgiveness and His grace, and get on with your life asking the Lord to fill you with the Holy Spirit and to guide you. The days of Elijah are those days where God is calling us to stop doing what seems right in the eyes of each man (see Deuteronomy 12:8)!
Israel is still fighting the coronavirus and we are still in the second wave and around 2000 people in Israel are added every day to the list of those who have been infected with the coronavirus.
The number of dead has risen above 500 people, and the average age of the dead is 82 years old. This is a clear indication that those being old and with pre-existing conditions like diabetes are at the greatest risk. Although it seems like the coronavirus has mutated some and now even much younger people are at high risk and many die with coronavirus complications.
We must pray for the whole world and each of us for his own country, and to add Israel. I believe that this coronavirus is a plague like all the biblical plagues that God sent to educate Israel and restore them to a better relationship with Him, and to greater respect for their creator. When Israel repented or looked at the brass snake that Moses lifted up, they received healing.
Let us all pray and encourage our leaders to lead and point us toward repentance and to confession of our sins and weaknesses, so that the Lord will lift this coronavirus from off of this earth and we will remember the Lord and seek to walk in His paths of righteousness and truth.
Please keep praying for Marcia’s health, her memory, diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis. Danah our daughter, needs much prayer for her situation and so does our granddaughter Noaam. Please lift Danah and Noaam in your prayers. Please lift Barry our son and his family, Beth, and Joey our grandson who are also staying at home and working from home during this time. Marcia’s mother June is 91 years old and her brothers and their families all need our prayers.
Brazil is in bad shape with the coronavirus and the problems of the business community, and the social unrest is also a major challenge. We have so many brothers and sisters in Brazil that need our prayers and intercession on their behalf. Here is a short list of communities and brothers and sisters in Brazil who need our prayers and God’s grace in these hard times: Pray for the sister communities of Netivyah in Brazil, Har Zion, Ensenando de Siao, and Sar-El in Curitiba and other brothers and sisters in the city of Curitiba.
There is another congregation of brothers and sisters in Curitiba led by brother Claus and brother Moses, please pray for these dear brothers also and for and the Messianic congregations in Fortaleza, Santa Maria, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and in other cities in Brazil. Pray for our dear older and more vulnerable brothers and partners in Brazil, Michelle O., Marcelo Guimaraes family and especially his father, Paulo, Marty Galante. The Resende family.
Pray for the healing of these brothers and sisters around the world: Sister Angela is in special need these days and her life is hanging on the mercy and grace of our Lord. Please lift sister Angela and T.J. her husband as they are battling their battle and are totally dependent on God’s mercy and healing. Keep Ruby Little in your prayers, our dear sister from Oklahoma City, who is also battling against cancer. Lift up in prayer the following brothers and sisters:
Samuel Lopes a 17-year-old boy who is going through an extremely hard time now. Pray for Rachael and Daniel a brother and sister who need jobs and emotional healing.

Keep praying for Nancy, Don and their son Aaron Hook, Rachel David Kim’s wife – Jingyung Lee, Dr. Yuizawa , Tiz H., Lion H., Michael Schiffman, Joe Mays, Ilana Abramov, Cynthia Parveen’s sister, David Stern and his family, Anne West who is now 100 years old. Please see your prayer as casting a vote for healing before the Lord and His angels in Heaven in favor of every brother and sister that you are praying for. Just a word of grace for all of us is a refreshing spirit. Take your prayers before the mercy seat of the Almighty to be heard in favor of those that you are lifting in prayer.
Today is also the big feast of the Muslim world, Eid Al Adcha, the Feast of the Sacrifice. Muslims and Druze the world over are celebrating this feast by a sacrifice of a lamb or a goat. We have good friends who are Muslims and I have asked you to pray for their family and for healing.
Please add to your prayers the family of Um Mahmud Abu-Eid and Jimmy their son. I believe that this is a good thing for us to pray for friends and acquaintances who are Muslims. It is an act of love and reconciliation to carry before the throne of Mercy those dear people who are seeking peace and righteousness looking toward the Lord for mercy and healing.
I am adding to the prayer list the daughter of one of my important university professors, Allison Howard Williams, she is the daughter of Patsy Wilkerson Howard, and Dr. George Howard.
Keep praying for Guilherme Antonio Nathan Becker and his wife Artuza de Oliviera, also add Rachael and Daniel Webster and Lizette Nancy, and Jose Carlos from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
By praying for people who are your brothers and sisters, and whom you do not know personally, you are exercising the right to be God’s ambassador in what is called “agape love.”
“Agape love” is the highest form of love, a love that does not look for earthly rewards or give and take, but just does the service of intercession in the kingdom of god.
You will be blessed by the almighty God who gives each of His children good for the good we do and recompense for the bad we do. Your sincere prayers for people around the world do the following things for the Kingdom, the King, and for the body of the Messiah:
1. They unite you and the body in a major transcendent bond of prayer.
2. They demonstrate the oneness of the people of God.
3. Your prayer shows that there are people outside the realm of the physical world and personal interests who have a sincere bond and relationship that is heavenly and not earthly.
4. The Lord knows His children and gives credit and reward according to His promises.
These are brothers and sisters from around the world that need a little more grace from our Father in Heaven, Reuven and Clil who the Lord willing will be on their way home to Israel this weekend. Keep them both in your prayers. Their return home is what I have asked you to pray for in the last few weeks and the Lord is answering our prayers. God keep them safe and bring them back home.
We have brothers and sisters in Israel and in China and I ask you to pray for their safety and protection: Deborah Ruth, Lydia, Sima, Laurel S., Naomi, Orna, David S., Daniel, Dalia D., Ayla, Hillel, Elhanan, Tony, Dr. Song, Michael Knezevich, Ismael Alves, Asher Gabriel, M. Ahuva. Please pray for a dear brother who is well into his 90’s and lost his wife a couple of weeks ago. His name is Dov H.
Pray for Israel. We are going through terrible riots and violence in the streets of Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv and other places around the country. These riots are motivated by the fact that much of the populace of Israel does not understand what the government is doing in relationship to the coronavirus pandemic.
Businesses are closing and bankruptcy is happening to old established companies and businesses and even our national airline is on the verge of bankruptcy. People do not have money to put food on their tables. The number of people in need of basic food is growing.
Netivyah has been feeding the poor of Jerusalem for more than 25 years and we have a highly appreciated humanitarian ministry that is working with the Jerusalem municipality. As the demands for food for people who never before needed such help grows, I pray that the Lord will inspire and motivate brothers and sisters and ministries who can help with this to go to the webpage: www.netivyah.org and do what they can to make it possible for us to double or more than double, the number of people and families that we serve.
Our prime minister’s case is still before the courts. I am not happy that this is happening in Israel, but I am praying that true justice and righteousness is exhibited in our court system. The truth must come out and I am not interested in a second prime ministry of Israel to go to jail. We have had a president in jail, and finance minister in Jail, a minister of interior affair in Jail, and member of the parliament in jail. Enough!
The world is in a terrible flux as millions of people are dealing with this coronavirus and hundreds of thousands of families have already lost their loved ones to this plague of biblical proportions. Still, we also need to be grateful for countries like Israel who are beginning to come out and return to normality with caution and care.
From our congregation in Jerusalem we ask you to join us in prayer for the following dear brothers and sisters: Gary, Melanie, Sarit, Gabriela, Ahuva, Leah, Ilana, Hannah, young Gabriela, Zvi D. and Bathsheba, Jonathan B. and his wife Aviva and their new baby.
Pray for some dear friends, Rabbi Morton Salt, and his family and Rabbi Hasselblad. They are both older and need protection and blessings. Pray also for the Orthodox Rabbinical group called Tzoaar. A group of courageous Rabbis in Israel who want to see a restoration of Torah values and a more uncomplicated approach to Jewish values and life-style. They are doing a great job in bringing the reality of the Torah into practice in the 21st century.
I was asked by brothers and sisters of the Messianic congregation, Shoresh David (The Root of David) in Portland, Oregon, to pray for Portland. Anarchist elements have taken the center of Portland, OR, and turned it into chaos, and disorder. So, please pray for Portland, OR, and for our brothers and sisters in that city.
The coronavirus is threatening the economy of the world with a great recession and depression. Some of our major supporters have already lowered the amount of their support. They have done this not only toward Netivyah, but for all the ministries that they are supporting, and they are many. I would like to first ask you to pray about your part in supporting Netivyah Bible Instruction Ministry.
Second, I would like for you who stand with us in prayer and financially to do your absolute best to stay on board with us and communicate. We realize that times will be hard for several years, but we also realize that God has chosen and blessed you for such a time as this.
I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish!
