우리가 살고 있는 세상은 아픕니다! 전 지구적으로 무고한 사람들을 훨씬 더 많이 죽음으로 몰아넣는 3차 창궐로 세상의 대다수를 공격하고 있는 코로나바이러스로 아픕니다. 우리가 살고 있는 세상은 자기 주변에서 일어나고 있는 일들은 무시하고 오로지 자기들의 야망과 욕망만 생각하는 정치인들과 일반 대중의 이기심과 사리사욕의 쓰나미로 아픕니다.

저희 회중의 지체인 쯔비 형제님의 아내 밧셰바 데바렘디커 자매님은 어제 예루살렘에서 암 수술을 받았습니다. 의사가 할 수 있는 한 (암세포를) 많이 제거하기는 했지만, 자매님은 아직 암 수술 후 전반적인 치료를 모두 받아야 합니다. 여러분의 기도에 밧셰바 자매님을 기억해 주시기 바랍니다. 우리의 귀한 하닷사 자매님은 암 수술 후 회복 중입니다. 브라질의 우리 페르난다 자매님의 어머니도 암 수술이 필요하지만, 병원에 코로나바이러스 환자로 가득 차서 수술이 지연되고 있습니다. 페르난다 자매님의 어머니와 브라질 병원들의 중환자실 병상들을 위해 기도해 주시기 바랍니다.
95세이신 우리의 귀한 일라나 자매님은, 자매님을 돌보는 일을 아주 훌륭하게 잘 하는 네티비야의 젊은 지도자들 유다, 다니엘, 한나 케이(K.), 한나 에스(S.), 아비가일과 다른 이들로 인해 축복 받았습니다. 일라나 자매님을 돌봐드리는 종일 돌보미가 아주 잘 해주고 있고, 네티비야는 돌보미 비용을 지불하고 있는데요, 더 나은 해결책과 재정적 부담이 다른 방법으로 충당되기를 바라고 있습니다.

The Jerusalem Prayer List – December 10, 2020

Our world is sick! Sick with coronavirus that is now attacking the majority of the world with a third wave of a much deadlier harvest of innocent people around the globe. Our world is sick with a tsunami of selfishness and self-interest of both politicians and regular folk that are ignoring what is happening around them and thinking only of their own aspirations and desires.
Normally in history when there was a disaster a war a plague people would band together knowing and understanding that together we stand and alone we fall apart. Understanding that, “No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as any manner of thy friends or of thine own were; any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind. And therefore, never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.” – John Donne (1572-1631) On Monday morning this week I awoke with the following on my mind. It was not a normal thought it was a nagging, frustrating and disturbing idea. In my mind’s eye, the text of the book of Revelation chapter 15, was dancing before me. I opened the book and started to read. Seven Angels and Seven bowls of the wrath of God were being poured out on the Earth. Each day another bowl of wrath. Each day worse than the one before it. I was wondering if there had ever been such a worldwide plague, such a plague that doesn’t distinguish between Christians, Jews, Muslims, white, black, yellow, brown and black people. I than remembered Noah and his family, Noah, who built an ark at a time when the world didn’t have rain as we know it today! A time when the majority of the world’s people were in deep sin and far from the face, the will and the goodness of the Creator. A time when the human race had been living hundreds of years and had become convinced that it was invincible and free from restraints. It was a happy-go-lucky, topsy turvy world in the days of Noah. Evil was considered good and good was considered evil. Truth was ignored and myth was celebrated. But those days of Noah were not devoid of some good people who knew God, but it was devoid of good people who were willing to step up and say something that was not politically correct in the eyes of that evil and perverse generation. The thing that came as a difficult awakening for me last Monday morning was that I have not heard a wide call for repentance from any major and prominent spiritual leader. Not from the leading Jewish orthodox rabbis, not from the Christian leaders of the major Christian movements and denominations, and not from the Muslim clerics, and not even from the Buddhist and other pagan idol-worshiping leaders. When the coronavirus first started in the West, in the early days of 2020, I had already taken up the Bible and looked up the different words that are translated as plagues. The next “Teaching From Zion” magazine of Netivyah will be on the topic of Plagues. I know that it will be a fascinating issue of the Teaching from Zion magazine. (For those of you who may not know: The Teaching from Zion magazine has been published for more than 40 years by Netivyah. I started publishing the Teaching from Zion magazine in 1978, since the time when Rabbi Moshe Emmanuel Ben-Maier passed away. It has always been published, distributed and made available, free of charge. You can go to the Netivyah library and download many of the issues for free.) Back to last Monday morning. These are the thoughts that came to mind: “Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, ‘Go and pour out the bowls of the wrath of God on the earth.’ So the first went and poured out his bowl upon the earth, and a foul and loathsome sore came upon the men who had the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image.” – Revelation 16:1,2 [NKJV] Immediately a parallel text from the Talmud came to mind: “The Sages taught in a Baraita, an external,outside source: With regard to the seven-year period, i.e., the Sabbatical cycle, during which the Messiah, son of David, comes: During the first year, this verse will be fulfilled: ‘And I will cause it to rain upon one city and cause it not to rain upon another city’ (Amos 4:7). During the second year of that period, arrows of famine will be shot, indicating that there will be famine only in certain places. During the third year there will be a great famine, and men, women, children, the pious, and men of action will die, and the Torah is forgotten by those who study it.” “During the fourth year there will be plenty but not great plenty. During the fifth year there will be great plenty and they will eat, and drink, and rejoice, and the Torah will return to those who study it. During the sixth year, heavenly voices will be heard. During the Sabbatical Year, wars, e.g., the war of Gog and Magog, will be waged involving the Jewish people. During the year after the conclusion of the Sabbatical Year, the son of David will come.” – Babylonian Talmud Sanhedrin 97a This is a similar seven-year cycle to Revelation 15… the first year (day) looks like global warming… the second day looks like the economic situation in the world as a result of the COVID-19 virus… I don’t really know much about eschatology and normally don’t delve into such things. Yet, I find it strange that these parallel texts from revelations and the rabbinical text converged in my mind… the only real universal plague was Noah’s flood. COVID-19 might be the second such plague and the world might be on the second day of a seven-day cycle before the Messiah comes. How long is one day is debatable in the Bible! I don’t know if I know what I am talking about! The Reading for this Shabbat is from Genesis, Parashat Vayeshev, from Genesis 37:1- 40:23, and from the prophets, Amos 2:6-3:8, and from the New Testament, Matthew 1:18-25. Of course, the Torah portion is the beginning of the story of Joseph, the son of Rachel, the beloved wife of Jacob. This story of Joseph is one of the most fully developed and complete novelettes (mini-novels) in the Bible. It is almost a complete script for making a Hollywood movie. The narrative and plot of the story of Joseph has a beginning that is dramatic and a middle that is enchanting and an end that is a happy ending. I want us to see the full picture of this Shabbat’s Torah reading. Here is the key: If you cut into any part of this story and separate it and analyze it you probably will come up with the opinion that this is a terrible tragedy of a family that is falling apart and an old father that is not able to take care of his own family and make peace and order among his own sons. It would be considered as being a totally dysfunctional family. However, if you back up and look at the whole story the whole narrative of the story of Joseph you see that each picture in the story, each scene in the plot is like a freight train where each car is hooked to the next and is pulling the other cars, with each car connected to the other, and even though each car is full of sadness and horrible events the train itself is headed in a happy direction toward a happy ending. There is much similarity between the story of Joseph and the story of Yeshua (Jesus). Everything in his life is one tragedy after another. Yeshua is neglected and rejected by His own brothers, and rejected by the people of Nazareth, where He was raised. He is a person that one might identify today as being “homeless.” Like Superman, He came from another world, and has to live as a stranger in His own land. Joseph, the son of Jacob, is very much the same. He is misunderstood, by his brothers, and even by his father and mother. He is hated by his brothers because of the revelation and prophecy that he received from God. They want to kill him and they end up selling him to a caravan of merchants. Later, in Egypt where Joseph serves as a slave, the head steward of the house of Potiphar, the chief warden of Pharaoh’s prison, he is falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife of rape, and ends up in jail. One could easily end the story there and see it as a kind of Greek tragedy. However, this is not the end of the story. What I would like to show you from this Shabbat’s reading is that just as this week’s reading contains one tragedy after the other, that is not the end of the story. The same is true with Yeshua, our Lord and Messiah: Where we stand today is not the end of the story, the cross is not the end of the story, the resurrection of Yeshua from the grave is not the end of the story. The end of the story has not yet happened. Yeshua is now in Heaven, like Joseph was in Egypt, serving as the prime minister. Joseph was second only to Pharaoh himself, leading the world’s most powerful empire, the foremost civilization of the world of his day. Egypt, in the days of Joseph, ruled from Tunisia in North Africa, to the Arabian Peninsula in the east and to Somalia in the south east of Africa, all the way to the south of Lake Victoria. The riches and power of ancient Egypt can still be viewed in Egypt today, and in every major historical museum in the world. Please read this Shabbat’s reading yourselves, take some time to enjoy God’s word. Read it like a novel, not like some holy book. Imagine that you are reading a Tolstoy or Hemingway novel, and you will find the story both fascinating and inspiring, as well as encouraging. Because the story of Joseph is the quintessential proof that, “all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord!” When the Apostle Paul wrote this in Romans chapter 8, he really meant that “all things,” the good the bad and the ugly, work together for the good of those who love the Lord. Of course, remember my dear brothers “all things don’t always work together for the good of those who don’t really love the Lord!” Just make sure that you and your family truly love the Lord and you will see that all things work together for you who love the Lord and that while the interest is collected in this life, the principal is collected in eternity.
Marcia and I are in the States now, staying with our son Barry and his family. Marcia had dental surgery yesterday. Two wisdom teeth from her upper side where surgically extracted and it was not an easy extraction because the doctor had very little of exposed tooth to work with, and he had to dig deep and forcibly extract the roots of each tooth.
So today, Marcia is suffering from both pain and swelling, and is in danger of infection or other possible complications. Add to this the fact that she is a diabetic and you can see why we are sincerely in need of your prayers.
Bathsheba Derbaremdicker the wife of Zvi, a member of our congregation, had cancer surgery yesterday in Jerusalem. The surgeon removed as much as he could but she still has to go through the complete gamut of post cancer surgery treatment. Please keep Bathsheba in your prayers. Hadassah, our dear sister, is recovering from her cancer surgery. The mother of our sister Fernanda from Brazil is in need of cancer surgery, but the hospitals are full of Covid patients so the surgery is being delayed. Please pray for Fernanda’s mother and for beds for the ICUs of the hospitals of Brazil.
Ilana, our dear 95-year-old sister, has been blessed by the young leaders of Netivyah, Yudah, and Daniel, and Hannah K, Hanna S, and Avigail, and others who have done a great job of caring for her. The full-time caregiver for Ilana is doing a good job, and Netivyah is handling the costs of the caregiver and hoping for a better solution and that the financial burden will be met by other means.
Until this happens Netivyah has assumed the full cost of caring for Ilana and if necessary, for our other senior members. We have several older individuals in our congregation who have been faithful and active members of our fellowship for many years. The Lord has been faithful to place these dear sisters and several brothers in our care, and we know that He, the Creator of the Universe and Yeshua always keep their promises, and they have hidden servants who will stand up and take up the challenge to be a part of this great Mitzvah.
There is a clear command in the word of God to take care of the widows and orphans. This command is repeated in the Torah, the prophets, the writings, and in the New Testament even more than one time. Anyone who is getting old or has older family members must know that the fellowship of the saints and of our spiritual family can be trusted to keep this commandment and to take care of our older generation. They have given their all, during their younger years, and now it is the responsibility of the saints to provide for their needs.
Please consider as a church or as individuals to add something extra for the elderly saints of Jerusalem.

We received a prayer request from a dear sister, Livia Schnell Nothen, who has been with us in Portugal and has stood with our brothers in Brazil and with us on the issue of the Anussim (the “coerced ones,” descendants of 15th century Spanish and Portuguese Jews who were forced to convert to Catholicism and who continued to secretly practice their Judaism. Getting the State of Israel to accept them as Jews under the Law of Return has been an issue.) and their plight. Livia is ill with a serious illness that needs healing and comfort from the Lord. Please pray for Livia and her health.
Please keep brother Philip Marc in your prayers. Philip is a young man with very serious cancer. He is a truth seeker and a faithful disciple of Yeshua who loves God and who is a lover of Israel. Philip lives far from Israel in a country that we can’t travel to, but Philip’s heart is with us and with God’s people.
Pray for Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias. He is the father of a dear sister in Brazil.
I realize that this prayer list is getting longer and longer, but I also know what a privilege and a blessing it is to read it and to just say a prayer in your heart for each of the names in this list and you will see that the Lord’s principles work and that by the measure you measure to others the Lord Himself will measure back to you. Please keep praying for the whole list – just mention the names before the mercy seat of the almighty one of Israel and before Yeshua, our Lord, and ask for healing and blessings. It is a great privilege to pray for others and there is a blessing for you when you bless others. This is a biblical principle.
Israel is still under closure with limited mobility and most of the economy and businesses are closed, at least for now. The economy is devastated. The country is now under a special closure during the Hanukkah festival with citizens are being restricted from visiting each other’s homes between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and midnight during the holiday. The fine for violating this restriction is NIS 500 or $153.
I wrote last week in the Jerusalem Prayer List that it is a good work to pray for people whom you don’t know personally and to pray for the world to recover and bring an end to this horrible pandemic called the coronavirus. Corona is a crown, and I am not sure on the head of which king this virus is a crown.
1. Please keep doing intercessory prayer for the whole world, concentrate on your country, but do not forget Israel.
2. There is a blessing from God to those who pray for other brothers and sisters and intercede through the Holy Spirit for the Body of the Messiah.
3. It might seem like a small thing for us to pray a few minutes for brothers and sisters around the world, but in the Kingdom and in the Heavens attention is paid by the authorities of Goodness to the caring and sincere intercessory prayer that conforms and confirms that the body of the Messiah Yeshua is truly one body.
a. Pray for all the former and present people involved in the Korean Israel Bible Instruction Ministry.
b. Pray for the former board members of KIBI and that those who need to repent and restore their relationship with Netivyah, receive power from on high to do so.
c. Pray for those members and academics that are and were a part of the Israel Forum.
d. Pray for those who have prayed so faithfully for the salvation of Israel and the peace in Israel.
e. Pray for the spiritual and physical health of all those in Korea who are still praying for the body of the Messiah in Israel and specifically praying and supporting Netivyah. Bless them and inspire them and pray that they be filled with faith, hope and love for the Lord and for Israel.
Let us all pray and encourage our spiritual leaders to lead and to point us toward repentance and to confession of our sins and weaknesses, so that the Lord will lift this coronavirus from off of this earth and we will remember the Lord and seek to walk in His paths of righteousness and truth.
I appreciate the prayers for my health and my eye. I see so much better with my eye than I did before the surgery. Thank you, all your prayers, for me. Please continue to pray for me and for my wife, Marcia. Marcia has truly little energy these days and sleeps most of the day. She is in pain from rheumatoid arthritis and her eyes have cataracts but since she is diabetic it is too dangerous to operate. We need your prayers.
Danah our daughter, needs much prayer for her situation and so does our granddaughter Noaam. Please lift Danah and Noaam in your prayers. Please lift Barry our son and his family, Beth, and Joey our grandson who are also staying at home and working from home during this time.
Marcia’s mother June is 91 years old and her health is failing. Our sister from Jerusalem, Hadassah, had her surgery for cancer and is now at home recovering. Please keep her in your prayers.
We are praying for a three-year-old little girl who is ill with a rare illness and cancer. She lives with her family in California and we need to pray for her and her family to receive attention and healing from the Lord and to be allowed to grow up to serve His kingdom.
I am adding a new prayer request from a leader of God’s people in India, Joy Mathew. Joy has a serious heart condition and has asked for prayer. I am praying that some of the local elders will go to Joy, anoint him with oil, and pray for his healing, in accordance with the instructions given by James the brother of Yeshua in his letter to the twelve tribes of Israel living in the diaspora.
Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Brazil. Brazil is one of the countries with a remarkably high count of sick and dead people from the coronavirus. We have brothers and sisters all around Brazil, and I ask you to just say a prayer for divine protection and for wisdom to keep them clear from this deadly plague. Pray for healing and strength for a 70-year-old man by the name of Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias. Also include in your prayers Caique de Oliveira Becker These are people in Brazil who need the Lord’s special grace for healing. Please do not forget to lift up in prayer the young man Paulo and the Amaral family, in Brazil.
Please keep in your prayers our dear brother Pastor TJ in Taiwan. TJ is going through a new phase in his life, having lost his wife.
Keep Ruby Little in your prayers, our dear sister from Oklahoma City, who is also battling against cancer and add to your prayers Allison Howard Williams. Allison is the daughter of one of my incredibly special teachers and friends, Dr. George Howard. Allison is also battling cancer.

By praying for people who are your brothers and sisters, and whom you do not know personally, you are exercising the right to be God’s ambassador in what is called “agape love.” “Agape love” is the highest form of love, a love that does not look for earthly rewards or give and take, but just does the service of intercession in the kingdom of God.
You will be blessed by the almighty God who gives each of His children good for the good we do and recompense for the bad we do. Your sincere prayers for people around the world do the following things for the Kingdom, the King, and for the body of the Messiah:
1. They unite you and the body in a major transcendent bond of prayer.
2. They demonstrate the oneness of the people of God.
3. Your prayer shows that there are people outside the realm of the physical world and personal interests who have a sincere bond and relationship that is heavenly and not earthly.
4. The Lord knows His children and gives credit and reward according to His promises.

Her name is Hadassah and she just had cancer surgery. Pray for Hadassah for a full recovery and remission from cancer in her body.
Pray for Israel. We are going through terrible riots and violence in the streets of Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv and other places around the country. These riots are motivated by the fact that much of the populace of Israel does not understand what the government is doing in relationship to the coronavirus pandemic.
Businesses are closing and bankruptcy is happening to old established companies and businesses and even our national airline is on the verge of bankruptcy. People do not have money to put food on their tables. The number of people in need of basic food is growing.
Netivyah has been feeding the poor of Jerusalem for more than 25 years and we have a highly appreciated humanitarian ministry that is working with the Jerusalem municipality. As the demands for food for people who never before needed such help grows, I pray that the Lord will inspire and motivate brothers and sisters and ministries who can help with this to visit our webpage: www.netivyah.org and do what they can to make it possible for us to double or more than double, the number of people and families that we serve.
Our prime minister’s case is still before the courts. I am not happy that this is happening in Israel, but I am praying that true justice and righteousness is exhibited in our court system. The truth must come out and I am not interested in a second prime minister of Israel going to jail. We have had a president in jail, a finance minister in jail, a minister of interior affairs in jail, and a member of the parliament in jail. Enough!

Anarchist elements have taken the center of Portland, OR, and turned it into chaos, and disorder. So, please pray for Portland, OR, and for our brothers and sisters in that city.
The coronavirus is threatening the economy of the world with a great recession and depression. Some of our major supporters have already lowered the amount of their support. They have done this not only toward Netivyah, but for all the ministries that they are supporting, and they are many. I would like to first ask you to pray about your part in supporting Netivyah Bible Instruction Ministry.
Second, I would like for you who stand with us in prayer and financially to do your absolute best to stay on board with us and communicate. We realize that times will be hard for several years, but we also realize that God has chosen and blessed you for such a time as this.
Third please pray for a new project that we are starting in Israel in partnership with the Houses for Healing ministry from Abilene, Texas.
The aim is to provide hospitality for families of critically ill patients who are hospitalized in one of Jerusalem’s hospitals and who have no means to stay in hotels while their family members are in the hospitals.
This is a critical need especially in these days when there are hundreds of men and women who are in the Coronavirus ICU units for weeks and even months.
We need your prayer and your help to make this a meaningful and significant blessing both to the sick and to their families.
I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish! The best is yet to come!
