예루살렘 기도 목록 – 2020년 11월 5일

우리 조상 아브라함은 믿음으로 유명하지만, 또한 그의 환대로도 유명합니다. 이번 안식일에 읽을 말씀은 “바예라”, 창세기 18:1~22:24입니다. 전 세계 모든 회당에서 읽을 이 말씀은 창세기의 다른 토라 포션 “노아”와 “레크 레카”처럼 하나님의 말씀에서 아주 중요한 말씀입니다.
선지자의 글에서 읽는 하프타라는 열왕기하 4:1-37입니다. 신약성경에서 읽을 말씀은 누가복음 1:26-38과, 24:36-53입니다. 저는 하나님의 말씀 중에서 중요한 토라 포션을 읽을 때마다 계속해서 놀라고 영감을 받습니다. 하나님의 말씀을 읽고서 놀라며 영감을 받는 비결은 멍청이처럼 읽지 않는 것입니다. 여러분이 성경을 읽을 때 여러분은 여러분의 즐거움을 위해 읽는 것이 아닙니다. 여러분은 저자와 대화하는 것처럼 읽어야 합니다. 여러분은 읽으면서 논쟁하고 이해하려고 애써야 합니다. 읽으면서 질문을 하고 그 말씀이 여러분 마음에 펼쳐 놓은 그 질문에 답하기 위해 그 말씀을 논하기도 하고 깊이 파고 들어야 합니다. 여러분은 경기장에서 빨간 망토를 흔들며 여러분을 향해 코로 거친 숨을 내뿜으며 도전하고 있는 커다란 황소를 향해 도전하고 있습니다. 그 도전은 행동하고, 논쟁하고, 여러분의 안전지대에서 나오라는 것입니다. 그럼, 이제, 창세기 18:1에서 시작되는 파라샷 바예라입니다: “여호와께서 마므레의 상수리나무들이 있는 곳에서 아브라함에게 나타나시니라 날이 뜨거울 때에 그가 장막 문에 앉아 있다가” – 창세기 18:1 이 서문은 이미 대단히 충격적입니다. 지금까지 하나님께서는 꿈으로, 환상으로, 대화로 아브라함에게 그분을 계시하셨지만, 이번은 주님께서 아브라함과 소통하셨던 이전의 그 어떤 경우보다 훨씬 더한 것입니다. 이번 나타나심은 주님께서 두 천사와 함께 공지 없이 그냥 나타나셔서, 말하자면, 그냥 아브라함의 집 문에 노크를 하시는 것입니다! 예고도 없었기에 보통의 경우라면 이것은 적절하지 않았을 것입니다. 왕께서, 주님께서, 온 우주의 창조자께서 팡파레도 없이, 혹은 만왕의 왕의 수행원 앞서 꽃과 붉은 카펫으로 주님을 환영하는 최소 수백 명의 천사들도 없이 그냥 들른다는 것은 아주 이상합니다. 저라면 충격적이라고 말하겠습니다! 제가 이 말씀을 주의 깊게 읽고, 또 이 사건에 대해 언급한 히브리서 13:2를 상고하자면, “손님 대접하기를 잊지 말라 이로써 부지중에 천사들을 대접한 이들이 있었느니라.” – 히브리서 13:2 환대와, 교회 장로들의 환대 요건에 대한 가르침은 이 토라 포션의 아브라함의 예에서 비롯됩니다. 아브라함과 그가 맞이한 손님들의 이 이야기에서 환대의 기본을 상고해 보도록 합시다: “눈을 들어 본즉 사람 셋이 맞은편에 서 있는지라 그가 그들을 보자 곧 장막 문에서 달려나가 영접하며 몸을 땅에 굽혀 이르되 내 주여 내가 주께 은혜를 입었사오면 원하건대 종을 떠나 지나가지 마시옵고 물을 조금 가져오게 하사 당신들의 발을 씻으시고 나무 아래에서 쉬소서 내가 떡을 조금 가져오리니 당신들의 마음을 상쾌하게 하신 후에 지나가소서 당신들이 종에게 오셨음이니이다 그들이 이르되 네 말대로 그리하라.” – 창세기 18:2-5 1. 손님을 환영하며 그들을 겸손히 예우하여 그들이 더 고귀하다는 표시로 땅에 엎드려 절하는 것. 2. 그들은 낯선 사람들이며 아브라함은 그들이 뭘 원하는지 몰랐습니다. 환대의 일환으로 그는 그들에게 머물기를 청합니다. 3. 아브라함은 즉시 중동의 의례를 따라 그의 손님들의 발을 씻어주겠다고 제안합니다. 그들이 길을 걸어왔기에 그들의 발을 씻는 것은 여러분이 극동아시아에 있을 때 신을 벗는 것과 같은 행동입니다. 극동아시아에서 신을 벗고 슬리퍼를 신도록 내어주는 것은 환영하는 관례입니다. 4. 그 다음 아브라함이 한 일은 바로 이 손님들에게 음식을 내놓은 것이었습니다. 우리는 신약성경에 손님을 대접하라고 명령 받았으며, 이것은 교회의 장로들(목사들)의 요건이기도 합니다. 여러분의 장로들과 목사들이 손님을 잘 대접하지 않는다면 그들은 장로 혹은 목사직임(성경에서 이들은 동일한 직임입니다 - 전자는 장로로 후자는 회중의 목자로 섬깁니다 – 말하자면, 신약성경에서 두 직임은 서로 바꿀 수 있는 것입니다)에 자격이 없습니다. 이 이야기 역시 아브라함이 그의 아내 사라에게 손님들을 위해 빵을 준비하라고 청하고, 자신은 가축 떼에 달려가 손님들을 위해 준비할 송아지를 골라오는 구체적인 내용으로 인해 놀라게 됩니다. 세계 중 이 지역에서도 고기를 날마다 먹은 것은 아님을 말하고 있습니다. 고기는 명절이나 결혼식이나 경축할 일이 있는 특별한 때에만 먹었습니다(이 관습은 사무엘상 1장에 기술되어 있습니다). 우리는 아브라함이 아직도 이 세 사람이 누구인지 모른다는 것을 기억해야 합니다! 그는 그냥 지나가는 낯선 사람들을 이런 환대로 대접하고 있는 것입니다. 우리는 아브라함이 그 진영 안에 수백 명의 군사와 가족을 거느린 아주 강한 족장이었다는 것을 기억해야 할 것입니다. 그에게는 하란에서부터 가나안땅까지 그를 따라온 사람들뿐만 아니라 종이 많았음이 분명합니다! 그러나 그는 손수 송아지를 골라 와서 사라에게 고운 가루, 빵을 굽기에 최고인 밀가루로 떡을 준비하라고 말합니다. 여기에는 우리가 성경의 풍습에 대하여 배울 것과, 우리 자신에게 이 성경적 패러다임의 어느 부분이 우리에게 모범이 되어야 하는지 물을 것이 아주 많습니다. 창세기의 이 본문에서 그 다음으로 큰 일은 주님께서 아브라함에게 계시하신 것입니다: “여호와께서 이르시되 내가 하려는 것을 아브라함에게 숨기겠느냐 아브라함은 강대한 나라가 되고 천하 만민은 그로 말미암아 복을 받게 될 것이 아니냐 내가 그로 그 자식과 권속에게 명하여 여호와의 도를 지켜 의와 공도를 행하게 하려고 그를 택하였나니 이는 나 여호와가 아브라함에게 대하여 말한 일을 이루려 함이니라.” – 창세기 18:17-19 주님께서는 그분의 계획을 그분의 종들과 공유하시는데요, 아브라함은 하나님의 종입니다. 아모스 3:7의 이 말씀을 보십시오, “주 여호와께서는 자기의 비밀을 그 종 선지자들에게 보이지 아니하시고는 결코 행하심이 없으시리라.” – 아모스 3:7 이것은 개인적으로 제게 중요합니다. 저는 주님께서 뭘 하고 계시며 나는 뭘 해야 하는지 알고 싶습니다. 주님께서 그분의 말씀으로 저를 깨우치실 때 저는 언제나 그것이 감사합니다. 제가 옳다고 생각하지 않는 것은 마지막 때를 추정하려고 하는 것입니다. 주님께서는 우리에게 깨어 있어 예슈아의 재림에 대비하며 준비되어 있게 할 정보를 충분히 주셨습니다. 추측과 추정은 거짓 예언에 기숙하며 거짓 예언보다 훨씬 더 심각합니다. 우리는 그저 성경에 선포된 예언을 가지고 인내하며, 주님의 손을 재촉하거나 늦추려고 하지 말아야 합니다. 그분의 일정표는 완벽하며 그분만이 사건들이 일어나는 날짜를 아시는 분입니다. 예슈아께서는 그분 자신도 그분의 재림의 날짜와 시간을 모른다고 말씀하십니다. 예슈아께서도 모르시고 천사들도 모른다면, 누가 아는 것입니까? 누구든 자기가 안다고 주장하는 사람이 있다면, 그가 이득을 얻기 위해 자기 일을 하는 텔레비전 목사든 자칭 텔레비전 “선지자”든, 저는 자동으로 그를 의심할 것입니다. 자기가 주님께서 보시기에 의로운 일을 하는 것에 관심이 있는 아브라함의 관심사는 제게 깊은 인상을 주며, 제게 과거, 현재, 미래에 세상에서 일어나고 있는 일에 대하여 걱정하지 말고 두려움을 극복하도록 교훈을 줍니다. 아브라함의 질문은 제게 중요한 이슈입니다: “아브라함이 가까이 나아가 이르되 주께서 의인을 악인과 함께 멸하려 하시나이까?” – 창세기 18:23 아브라함이 묻는 질문은 간단히 말해 “주님, 주님께서 불의하실 수 있으십니까?”입니다. 하나님께서 불의하실 수 있을까요? 하나님께서는 도덕률에 구속될까요? 아니면 하나님의 결정과 행동이 관련되어 있을 때 그분께 제한이 없을까요? 이것들이 아브라함에게 있던 질문이며, 이것이 아브라함에게 예루살렘 올드시티 아랍시장에서 생선을 사는 사람처럼 하나님과 옥신각신할 권리와 힘을 줍니다. 저를 놀라게 만드는 것은 하나님께서 기꺼이 아브라함과 옥신각신하고자 하시며, 사실 하나님께서 시작 전에 끝을 아시고 소돔에 의인이 얼마나 있는지 아신다는 사실에도 불구하고, 기꺼이 아브라함에게 그분의 의로움의 척도를 시험해볼 특권을 허용하신다는 것입니다. 주님께서는 우리의 유익을 위해 아브라함의 이런 옥신각신을 허용하십니다. 주님께서는 우리가 그분께서 의로운 하나님이심을 알기를 원하십니다. 주님께서는 우리가 도시나 나라나 개인을 그들의 죄 때문에 벌해야 할 때, 하나님의 의로운 종들에 대한 고려가 있을 것이며 그들이 무시되지 않을 것임을 알기를 원하십니다. (제2차 세계대전 때 나치 홀로코스트에 대한 질문이 제기 됩니다. 제가 여러분에게 할 수 있는 대답은 오직 주님만이 누가 의롭고 의롭지 않은지 아신다는 것입니다. 그분만이 사람들의 마음속을 들여다보실 수 있습니다. 우리에게는 누가 의인인지 알거나 평가할 수 있는 능력이 없습니다.) 소돔에는 결국 의인이 열 명도 없었습니다. 소돔은 무너져 멸망해야만 했습니다. 바로 이 날까지도 소돔은 도시로 재건된 적이 없습니다. 이 날까지, 예슈아께서 저주하셨던 세 도시, 가버나움, 벳새다, 고라신은 재건된 적이 없이 고고학적 기념물과 관광지입니다. 그렇습니다, 주님께서는 그분의 약속을 지키십니다! 그분께서는 아브라함과, 이스라엘과, 세계에 하신 그분의 약속을 지키십니다. 우리가 아브라함의 이야기에서 무언가 배운다면, 진지하게 받아들여야 하는 두 가지가 있습니다: 1. 주님께서는 그분의 약속을 지키십니다! 2. 주님의 약속마다 우리 인류와 우리 제자들에게 믿음을 지키며 그분의 뜻을 행하며 그분의 자녀를 섬기고 돌봄으로써 그분을 섬기게 하는 부담을 줍니다. 친애하는 형제자매님들, 앞의 이유들이 바로, 서로를 위해 기도하고 우리가 개인적으로 모르는 사람들을 위해서도 기도하는 것이 중요한 이유입니다. 그들을 위해 기도함으로써 우리가 우리와 우리의 작은 공동체와 작은 세상보다 훨씬 더 큰 왕국의 일원임을 확증하기에 그렇습니다. 우리가 사람들을 위해서, 치유나 일자리나 삶과 위로에 관한 다른 필요가 있는 형제들을 위해 기도할 때, 우리는 창조주께서 그분의 피조물과 피조세계를 돌보시고 보호하시고 공급하시는 그분의 일에 동역하는 것입니다. 하나님의 사람들과 동역하거나 동참하기 위해 여러분이 아는 곳이라면 어디든 모든 곳에서, 그리고 여러분이 누군가의 필요를 마주하게 된 곳이 어떤 곳이든 계속 기도하시고 계속 돌보시고 여러분이 할 수 있는 모든 것을 하십시오. 노래 가사처럼, “당신을 위해 조금 기도합니다!”
코로나바이러스가 전 세계에 걸쳐 계속 맹위를 떨치고 있습니다. 유럽과 미국과 이스라엘은 2차 창궐 중이며 3월부터 7월까지 1차 창궐 때보다 더 치명적입니다.
많은 나라에서 엄중한 조치를 취하고 있습니다. 이스라엘에서는 사람들이 폐쇄에서 잠시 해방이 되었으나, 또 다시 증가하는 감염자 숫자 때문에 정부에서는 이미 또 다시 사람들의 자유를 빼앗는 것을 논의하고 있습니다.
식당, 이발소, 그 외 영세 서비스업은 모두 아직까지 문을 닫았으나, 하나님의 뜻이라면 곧 문을 열 것 같습니다. 학교와 보육원들은 어린이들과 직원들이 반드시 마스크를 쓰는 제한을 두고 문을 열었습니다.
세계가 백신을 기다리고 있습니다. 전 세계적으로 코로나바이러스 백신 개발 중인 회사들이 많습니다. 모두가 큰 압박을 받으며 개발 중이며, 코로나바이러스라고 부르는 이 공포에 대한 해결책을 기도하며 기다리고 있습니다.
주님, 저희는 예슈아께서 높이 들리시어 전 세계에서 영광을 받으시는 것을 보고 싶습니다. 저희는 예슈아께서 오셔서 우리가 다함께 그분의 발 아래 모세의 노래와 어린양의 노래로 송축하고 찬양하게 해주시기를 기도합니다. 기도하시고, 기도하시고, 기도하십시오!

우리 영적 지도자들이 우리를 회개로, 죄와 허물을 고백하는 데로 이끌고 지적하여, 주님께서 이 코로나바이러스를 이 땅에서 거두시고 우리가 주님을 기억하며 그분의 의와 진리의 길로 걸어가게 하도록 우리 모두 기도하며 격려합시다.
제 건강과 제 눈을 위해 기도해 주셔서 감사합니다. 저는 수술 전보다 아주 훨씬 더 잘 보게 되었습니다. 저를 위해 기도해 주신 여러분 모두께 감사드립니다.

The Jerusalem Prayer List – November 5, 2020

Our father Abraham is known for his faith, but also for his hospitality. The reading this Shabbat is from Vayera; Genesis 18:1 – 22:24. This text that is read around the world in every synagogue, like the portion of Genesis, and Noah and Lech Lecha, is another very significant reading in God’s Word.
The reading from the prophets, the Haftarah reading, is from 2 Kings 4:1-37. The reading from the New Testament is from Luke 1:26-38, and 24:36-53. I continue to be amazed and inspired every time that I read any significant portion of the Word of God. The key to being amazed and inspired reading the Word of God is not to read like a dummy. When you read the Bible you are not reading for your pleasure. You need to read as if you were in a dialogue with the writer. You are reading to argue and to try to understand. You are reading to ask questions and possibly to argue and dig deep into the text in order to answer the questions that the text opens up in your mind. You are in the arena and you are there to wave the red cape and to challenge the big bull that is snorting challenges at you. The challenges are to act, to argue, to get out of your comfort zone. So, here we are, Parashat Vayera, starting in Genesis chapter 18:1: “Then the Lord appeared to him by the terebinth trees of Mamre, as he was sitting in the tent door in the heat of the day.” – Genesis 18:1 [NKJV] This opening statement is already of great impact. Up until now God had talked to and had revealed Himself to Abraham in a dream, in a vision, and in a conversation, but this is so much more than any previous occasion in which the Lord had communicated with Abraham. In this appearance, the Lord together with two angels simply appears unannounced and so to speak just knocks on Abraham’s door! There was no previous announcement, and under normal circumstances, this would not be appropriate. For a king, for the Lord, for the creator of the Universe, to just drop in without fanfare, or to at least have hundreds of angels preceding the entourage of the King of kings and welcome Him with flowers and a red carpet, is highly unusual, and I would say shocking! If I read this text carefully and also consider the reference to this event in the book of Hebrews 13:2: “Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.” – Hebrews 13:2 [NKJV] The teaching on hospitality and the requirement of hospitality for those who are elders in the church comes from the example of Abraham in this Torah portion. Let us consider the basics of hospitality from this story of Abraham and the guests that he receives: “So he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing by him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, and bowed himself to the ground, and said, My Lord, if I have now found favor in Your sight, do not pass on by Your servant. Please let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree. And I will bring a morsel of bread, that you may refresh your hearts. After that you may pass by, inasmuch as you have come to your servant. They said, ‘Do as you have said.’” – Genesis 18:2-5 [NKJV] 1. Welcoming the guests and honoring them humbly and bowing to the ground as a sign that they are more noble. 2. They were strangers and Abraham didn’t know what they wanted. As a part of his welcome, he begs them to stay. 3. Abraham immediately follows the protocol of the Middle East and offers to wash his guests’ feet. They have been walking on the road and washing their feet is like the gesture of taking your shoes off when you are in the Far East. It is the welcoming convention and in the Far East they offer you slippers to wear. 4. The next thing that Abraham did was to immediately offer the guests food. We are commanded in the New Testament to be hospitable, and this is even a requirement for people who are elders (pastors) in the church. If your elders and pastors are not hospitable they are not qualified to be in the position of elder or pastor (in the Bible these are identical offices – one is an elder and the other serves as a shepherd of the congregation – that is to say, in the New Testament, the two positions are interchangeable). This story also amazes by the detail by which Abraham asks Sarah his wife to prepare bread for the guests, while he himself runs to the flock and picks out a calf to be prepared for them. It bears mentioning that meat was not eaten every day in this part of the world. Meat was only eaten on holidays and on special occasions like weddings and feasts (this custom is described in the first chapter of 1 Samuel). We must remember that Abraham still doesn’t know who these three men are! He is treating strangers, just passersby, with such hospitality. We should remember that Abraham was a very powerful sheik whose camp must have included hundreds of soldiers and their families. He must have had many servants as well as those who had followed him from Haran to the land of Canaan! Yet, he takes it upon himself to personally select a calf and tells Sarah to make cakes from fine meal, the best flour for baking the bread. There is so much for us to learn here about biblical practices and to ask ourselves what part of this biblical paradigm should serve us as an example. The next big thing in this text of Genesis is the revelation that the Lord reveals to Abraham: “And the Lord said, ‘Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing, since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.’” – Genesis 18:17-19 [NKJV] The Lord shares His plans with His servants and Abraham is God’s servant. See this text in Amos 3:7, “Surely the Lord God does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.” – Amos 3:7 [NKJV] This is important to me personally. I want to know what the Lord is doing and what I am to do. When the Lord enlightens me from His Word I always appreciate it. What I don’t think is right is to try to calculate the end times. The Lord has given us enough information to cause us to be vigilant and to be prepared and ready for Yeshua’s return. The speculations and calculations boarder on false prophecy and even more serious than false prophecy. We have to simply be patient with the prophetic proclamations in the Bible and to neither try to rush or delay the hand of the Lord. His calendar is perfect and He Himself is the only one who knows the dates of the events. Yeshua Himself says that He does not know the day and the hour of His return. If Yeshua doesn’t know and the angels don’t know, then who knows? I would automatically question anyone who claims he knows, whether he's a television pastor, or some self-proclaimed television “prophet” who is doing what he does for profit. Abraham’s concern that he does what is righteous in the eyes of the Lord, also makes an impression on me and teaches me to take it easy and to overcome my fears with regard to what is happening in the world, past, present, and future. Abraham’s question is for me a key issue: “And Abraham came near and said, ‘Would You also destroy the righteous with the wicked?’” – Genesis 18:23 [NKJV] The question that Abraham is asking in simple English is: “Lord can You be unrighteous?” Is God able to be unrighteous? Is God bound by moral principles? Or is God without limits when it involves His decisions and actions? These are questions that Abraham has and this gives Abraham the right and the strength to haggle with God like someone buying fish in the Arab market of the Old City of Jerusalem. What amazes me is that God is willing to haggle with Abraham and actually, in spite of the fact that God knows the end before the beginning and knows how many righteous men are in Sodom, God is willing to allow Abraham the privilege of testing His measure of righteousness. The Lord allows this haggling of Abraham, for our benefit. The Lord wants us to know that He is a righteous God. The Lord wants us to know that when it is necessary to punish cities, countries, or individuals for their sins, there will be divine consideration for God’s righteous servants and they will not be ignored. (The question is asked about the Nazi Holocaust of World War II. The answer that I can give you is that only the Lord knows who is righteous and who is not. He is the only one who can see into people’s hearts. We don’t have the ability to know or to evaluate who is righteous.) In Sodom, in the end, there were not even 10 people who were righteous. Sodom had to fall and be destroyed. Until this very day Sodom has not been rebuilt as a city. Until this day, Capernaum, Beit Saida, and Korazim, the three cities that Yeshua cursed, have not been rebuilt and are archaeological monuments and tourist sights. Yes, the Lord keeps His promises! He keeps His promises to Abraham, and to Israel, and to the world. If we learn anything from the story of Abraham there are two things that must be taken seriously: 1. The Lord keeps His promises! 2. Each promise of the Lord puts the burden on us as humans and as disciples to keep the faith and to do His will and to serve Him by serving and caring for His children. These above reasons my dear brothers and sisters are why it is so important to pray for each other and to pray for people whom we don’t even know personally, since by praying for them we confirm that we are members of a kingdom that is much greater than us and our small fellowships and small worlds. When we pray for people, for brothers who are in need of healing or a job, and other needs for their life and comfort, we partner with the Creator in the care and protection and provision of His creatures and creation. Keep praying and keep caring and keep doing everything you can to partner and participate with God’s people anywhere and everywhere you know, and anywhere you are faced with someone’s need. Like the song says, “I say a little prayer for you!”
The coronavirus is continuing to rage throughout the whole world. Europe and the United States, and Israel, are going through a second wave of the virus, and it is deadlier than the first wave of March through July.
In many countries, draconian measures are being applied. In Israel the population was released a little from the closure but there is already talk in the government of again curtailing peoples’ freedoms because the number of cases is again increasing.
Restaurants, barbershops, and other small service businesses are all still closed but God willing they will be opening hopefully soon. Schools and nurseries are open with limitations with children and staff being forced to wear masks.
The world is awaiting a vaccine. There are many companies around the world that are working on a vaccine for the coronavirus. Everyone is working under great pressure, and praying and waiting for a solution to this horror called coronavirus.
We want to see Yeshua lifted up and honored throughout the world. We pray for Yeshua to come down and to allow us to praise and sing together at His feet, the Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb. Pray, Pray, Pray!
I have two very important prayer requests:
1. A very dear and faithful and wonderful sister that has been a faithful member of our congregation and a servant of the Lord in Jerusalem for over 40 years, Ilana Hanhiyervi who is 95 years old, is in need of our prayers. Her mind is sharp and she has been healthy and strong until recently. She needs our prayers these days, a prayer for strength and divine grace for this dear sister.
Also, we have a dear sister, the wife of Zvi Derbaremdicker, who discovered that she has very aggressive cancer in both breasts. Her name is Batsheva Derbaremdicker and she is scheduled to have surgery after some more tests. Please lift her in prayer and ask for a successful surgery and speedy healing.
2. For brother Philip Marc Lee. Philip is a young man with a family and he is sick with stage 4 cancer. Philip is a truth seeker and a faithful disciple and servant of the Lord. Please especially include these two new prayer requests in your prayers.
Don’t forget to continue praying for the rest of those on this long list.
1. Please keep doing intercessory prayer for the whole world, concentrate on your country, but don’t forget Israel.
2. There is a blessing from God to those who pray for other brothers and sisters and intercede through the Holy Spirit for the body of the Messiah.
3. It might seem like a small thing for us to pray a few minutes for brothers and sisters around the world, but in the Kingdom and in the heavens attention is paid by the authorities of goodness to caring and sincere intercession and prayer that conforms and confirms that the body of the Messiah Yeshua is truly one body.
a. Pray for all the former and present people that are involved with Korean Israel Bible Instruction Ministry.
b. Pray for the former board members of KIBI and those who need to repent and restore their relationship and that they may receive power from heaven to do so.
c. Pray for those members and academics that are and were a part of the Israel Forum.
d. Pray for those who have prayed so faithfully for the salvation of Israel and for peace in Israel.
e. Pray for the spiritual and physical health of all those in Korea who are still praying for the body of the Messiah in Israel and specifically praying and supporting Netivyah. May they be blessed inspired and filled with faith, hope and love for the Lord and for Israel.
Let us all pray and encourage our spiritual leaders to lead and to point us toward repentance and to confession of our sins and weaknesses, so that the Lord will lift this coronavirus from off of the Earth and that we will always remember the Lord and seek to walk in His paths of righteousness and truth.
I appreciate the prayers for my health and my eye. I see so much better with my eye than I did before the surgery. Thank you all for your prayers for me.
Please continue to pray for me and for my wife Marcia. Marcia has very little energy these days and sleeps most of the day. She is in pain from the Rheumatoid Arthritis and also her eyes have cataracts and since she is diabetic it is too dangerous to perform surgery.
We need your prayers.
Danah our daughter, needs much prayer for her situation and so does our granddaughter Noaam. Please lift Danah and Noaam in your prayers. Please lift Barry our son and his family, Beth, and Joey our grandson who are also staying at home and working from home during this time. Marcia’s mother June is 91 years old and her health is failing. Please keep in your prayers a dear sister who attends our congregation in Jerusalem. Her name is Hadassah and she just had cancer surgery and is now at home recovering. Pray for Hadassah for a full recovery and remission from cancer in her body.
Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Brazil. Brazil is one of the countries with a very high count of sick and dead people from the coronavirus.
We have brothers and sisters all around Brazil, and I ask you to just say a prayer for divine protection and wisdom to keep clear from this deadly plague. Pray for healing and strength for a 70 year old man by the name of Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias. Also include in your prayers Caique de Oliveira Becker. These are people in Brazil that need the Lord’s special grace for healing. Please don’t forget to lift and pray for a young man Paulo and for the Amaral family in Brazil.

Keep Ruby Little in your prayers, our dear sister from Oklahoma City, who is also battling against cancer and add to your prayers Allison Howard Williams. Allison is the daughter of one of my very special teachers and friends, Dr. George Howard. Allison is also battling cancer.

Just a word of grace before the mercy seat of the Almighty will be heard in favor of these brothers and Um Mahmud Abu-Eid and Jimmy Abu-Eid and his family, Keijo and Salme our dear brothers in Finland, Tim Tucker, Satu-Maria, Sinni Tuuli. Our brother in Finland Erki Murto is gone. Erki passed from this world a few days ago. Please let us keep Sirpa, Erki’s widow in our prayer.
May the Lord comfort her and consul her in these hours of sorrow and grief. Our other brothers and sisters in Finland who need our prayers, Evelina, and Eva H., Patty, Andrea, Julia and Victor, and Aaron Tani, and Hillel and his wife.
Around the whole world, we pray for Zhou Wenrian, Abe family, Toru, Takeo Sensei, Daisuke Sensei, Tomoko San, Yumi and her father Pastor Ohara, George, and Pastor Isaac in Chennai, India, Louisa, and Tony in Hong Kong.
I have just received a prayer request from a dear sister from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her father who is 70 years old and diabetic has contracted the COVID-19 virus. His name is Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias. He is in the hospital and his condition is very challenging. Please join us in lifting Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias in your prayers.
Please see your prayer as casting a vote for healing before the Lord and His angels in heaven in favor of every brother and sister that you are praying for. Just a word of grace for all of us is a refreshing spirit. Take your prayers before the mercy seat of the Almighty to be heard in favor of those that you are lifting in prayer.

It is an act of love and reconciliation to carry before the throne of mercy those dear people who are seeking peace and righteousness looking toward the Lord for mercy and healing.

By praying for people who are your brothers and sisters, and whom you do not know personally, you are exercising the right to be God’s ambassador in what is called “agape love.” “Agape love” is the highest form of love, a love that does not look for earthly rewards or give and take, but just does the service of intercession in the kingdom of God.
You will be blessed by the almighty God who gives each of His children good for the good we do and recompense for the bad we do. Your sincere prayers for people around the world do the following things for the Kingdom, the King, and for the body of the Messiah:
1. They unite you and the body in a major transcendent bond of prayer.
2. They demonstrate the oneness of the people of God.
3. Your prayer shows that there are people outside the realm of the physical world and personal interests who have a sincere bond and relationship that is heavenly and not earthly.
4. The Lord knows His children and gives credit and reward according to His promises.

Pray for Israel. We are going through terrible riots and violence in the streets of Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv and other places around the country. These riots are motivated by the fact that much of the populace of Israel does not understand what the government is doing in relationship to the coronavirus pandemic.
Businesses are closing and bankruptcy is happening to old established companies and businesses and even our national airline is on the verge of bankruptcy. People do not have money to put food on their tables. The number of people in need of basic food is growing.
Netivyah has been feeding the poor of Jerusalem for more than 25 years and we have a highly appreciated humanitarian ministry that is working with the Jerusalem municipality. As the demands for food for people who never before needed such help grows, I pray that the Lord will inspire and motivate brothers and sisters and ministries who can help with this to go to the webpage: www.netivyah.org and do what they can to make it possible for us to double or more than double, the number of people and families that we serve.
Our prime minister’s case is still before the courts. I am not happy that this is happening in Israel, but I am praying that true justice and righteousness is exhibited in our court system. The truth must come out and I am not interested in a second prime minister of Israel going to jail. We have had a president in jail, a finance minister in jail, a minister of interior affairs in jail, and a member of the parliament in jail. Enough!

Pray for brothers and sisters in the New Life Community in Korea – they are experiencing persecution and need strength to carry on and glorify the Lord.

I was asked by brothers and sisters of the Messianic congregation, Shoresh David (The Root of David) in Portland, Oregon, to pray for Portland. Anarchist elements have taken the center of Portland, OR, and turned it into chaos, and disorder. So, please pray for Portland, OR, and for our brothers and sisters in that city.
The coronavirus is threatening the economy of the world with a great recession and depression. Some of our major supporters have already lowered the amount of their support. They have done this not only toward Netivyah, but for all the ministries that they are supporting, and they are many. I would like to first ask you to pray about your part in supporting Netivyah Bible Instruction Ministry.
Second, I would like for you who stand with us in prayer and financially to do your absolute best to stay on board with us and communicate. We realize that times will be hard for several years, but we also realize that God has chosen and blessed you for such a time as this.
Third please pray for a new project that we are starting in Israel in partnership with the Houses for Healing ministry from Abilene, Texas.
The aim is to provide hospitality for families of critically ill patients who are hospitalized in one of Jerusalem’s hospitals and who have no means to stay in hotels while their family members are in the hospitals.
This is a critical need especially in these days when there are hundreds of men and women who are in the Coronavirus ICU units for weeks and even months.
We need your prayer and your help to make this a meaningful and significant blessing both to the sick and to their families.
I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish!
