누가 이스라엘을 건국했는가, 하나님인가 UN 인가?
두 명의 전 유엔 사무총장들은 국제 기구가 유대 국가를 창설했다는 사실을 계속적으로 이스라엘에게 상기 시켰다. 틀린 말은 아니지만, 영적인 측면에서 보면 그 때를 계획한 것은 분명 하나님이시다. - 아비엘 슈나이더-
유엔 총회는 1947년 11월29일, 팔레스타인 땅을 아랍과 유대 국가로 분할하고 예루살렘을 국제 통제 하에 두기로 결정하였는데, 이스라엘은 올해로 역사적 전환점이 되었던 이 유엔 총회의 60주년을 맞이하게 되었다.
유엔의 분할 계획은 33개국의 지지와 10개국의 반대 그리고 13개국의 기권으로 승인되었다. 6개월 후인 1948년 5월 14일, 유대 국가는 건국되었고, 곧이어 UN 의 계획에 반대했던 주변의 아랍 국가들이 이스라엘을 공격하면서 독립 전쟁이 발발 했다.
2차 세계대전 동안 유대인들을 말살하려 했던 아돌프 히틀러의 종말이 있은지 3년후: 스위스 바젤에서 1차 시온주의 회의가 있은지 50년 후: 예루살렘에 있던 2차 성전이 파괴된 지 1878년 후; 그리고 이 땅에 메시아가 오신 지 1948년이 지난 후에 이스라엘이 건국된 것이다.
그렇다면 이스라엘 국가는 누가 건국한 것일까? UN 인가 아니면 하나님인가? 전 유엔 사무총장 코피 아난과 그의 전임자였던 보우트로스-갈리는 국제 기구가 유대 국가를 창설했다는 사실을 계속적으로 이스라엘에 상기시켰다.
그것이 틀린 말은 아니지만, 영적인 측면에서 보면 그 때를 계획한 것은 분명 하나님이시다. 유엔은 2차 세계대전 당시 유대인 대학살이 있은 직후 유대 국가 건설에 대한 투표를 실시했다. 하나님께서는 자신의 계획을 성취시키기 위해서 각 나라의 연민을 이용하셨다. 몇 년만 더 지났어도, 이러한 연민의 정은 사라지고 이스라엘의 국가 창설의 꿈은 좌절되었을 것이다. 하나님께서는 그의 때에 유엔 투표가 있게 하셨고, 또한 정확한 시간 즉 분할 계획에 관한 결정적인 투표가 있기 25개월 전에 유엔이 창설되게 만드셨다.
“시온주의는 운 좋게도 마지막에 역사를 이루었던 것입니다“ 라고 이스라엘 건국에 관한 토론회를 주최했던 쉴로모 샌드 교수는 말했다. ” 조금만 늦었어도, 우리는 유대 국가 건설을 하지 못했을 것입니다.“
이것이 정치적이던 신의 개입이던지 간에, 성경에 나와 있는 하나님의 약속은 결국 성취되었다: “ 주 여호와의 말씀에 내가 이스라엘 자손을 그 간바 열국에서 취하며 그 사면에서 모아서 그 고토로 돌아가게 하고 그 땅 이스라엘 모든 산에서 그들로 한 나라를 이루시어”(겔37:21,22)

Technically this is true, but spiritually it was God who organized the timing.

The State of Israel has marked a significant milestone of the 60th anniversary of the UN General Assembly vote on the division of Palestine into an Arab and a Jewish state, with Jerusalem to be placed under international supervision. It took place on November 29, 1947.
The UN Partition Plan was approved with 33 countries voting in favor, 10 against, and 13 abstentions. Six months later, on May 14, 1948, the Jewish state was founded. Immediately afterward, the surrounding Arab nations, which rejected the plan, attacked Israel in what became known as the War of Independence.
Israel was established three years after the end of Adolf Hilter’s attempt to exterminate the Jews during World War II; 50 years after the First Zionist Congress in Basel, Switzerland; 1,878 years after the destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem; and 1,948 years after the Messiah walked in this Land.
So who is responsible for the establishment of the State of Israel, the UN or God? The two previous UN secretaries- general, Kofi Annan and before him Boutros Boutros-Ghali, reminded Israel repeatedly that the Jewish State owes its existence to the world body.
Technically this is true, but spiritually it was God who organized the timing. The UN would have voted for the establishment of a Jewish state only in the immediate aftermath of the genocide of the Jews during World War II. God used the sympathy of the nations to bring about His plan. Just a few years later, and this sympathy would have dissipated, thwarting the creation of the State of Israel.
Since God allowed the UN vote to take place in His timing, He also made sure that the UN was founded at the right time, 25 months before the decisive vote on the Partition Plan.
“Zionism was lucky to take hold of history at the last minute,” said Professor Shlomo Sand, who hosted a panel discussion on the creation of the State of Israel. “A short time later, we might have missed the Jewish state.”
Whether it was politics or divine intervention, in the end God’s promises in His Word were fulfilled:
“Behold I will take the sons of Israel from among the nations where they have gone and I will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land. I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel” (Ezekiel 37:21, 22).
“They will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them, they will plant vineyards and drink their wine and make gardens and eat their fruit. I will also plant them on their land” (Amos 9:14, 15).
