토라 출애굽기 35:1-40:38, 12:1-20

신약성경 누가복음 22:1-13.

이번 안식일에 전 세계 모든 회당에서 읽을 토라 포션은 히브리어로 “바야크헬”(“그리고 그가 모았다”)이라고 하고, 하나님께서 이스라엘 백성에게 안식일을 지키라 명하시는 것으로 시작됩니다. 모세가 미쉬칸(성막)을 짓는 데 필요한 재료를 헌납하라고 요구하자, 백성이 헌납합니다. 하나님께서 지명하신 일단의 솜씨 좋은 장색(匠色)들이 미쉬칸을 짓기 시작합니다. 미쉬칸이라는 이 히브리어 단어는 “위치하다/두다/놓다”라는 의미의 “거하다”라는 단어의 어근에서 파생된 단어입니다.

이번 안식일의 두 번째 토라 포션은 “세다”라는 단어에서 파생된 “페쿠데이”(“물목/결산목록”)입니다. 이번 안식일에 우리는 출애굽기 읽기를 마칩니다. 페쿠데이는 출애굽기 마지막 포션입니다. 여기서는 제사장이 미쉬칸(성막)에서 입는 의복 제작과 성막 완성을 설명하고 있습니다. 하나님의 명령에 따라 모세가 미쉬칸을 세우고 기구들을 정해진 위치에 놓자 하나님의 임재가 미쉬칸을 가득 채웁니다.

이번 안식일 토라 포션은 출애굽기 35:1-40:38, 12:1-20인데, 조금 이상합니다. 출애굽기 12:1-20를 추가로 읽는데요, 그 이유는 토라에서 이스라엘의 고대 달력의 니산월이라는 이 달 때문에 이번 안식일은 샤밭 하호데쉬(새해 직전 안식일)이라는 이름이 붙고 이 안식일에 추가로 읽기 때문입니다. 이교도 이웃 나라들을 따라 채용하여 양각 나팔을 부는 11월 나팔절이 아닌 이때가 실제로 토라의 새해인데요, 3월 말경 봄이 시작될 때 토라에서 “첫째 달”(달들의 우두머리)이라고 부르는 니산월이 시작되는 이 안식일을 부르는 이름입니다. 토라 포션은 출애굽기 35:1-40:38와 추가로 출애굽기 12:1-20입니다.

샤밭 하호데쉬 하프타라(선지서 포션)는 에스겔 45:16-46:18입니다. 저는 지금은 스파라딤과 아쉬케나짐 사이의 토라와 선지서 포션의 차이에 대해 깊이 들어가지는 않을 것입니다. 그러나 짧게 한 말씀 드리자면, 진짜 평화와 형제애는 종교적 전통에서 단지 한 걸음 떨어져 있으며 그것은 우리 유대인에게도 마찬가지입니다. 우리 중에는 500여 년 동안 스페인 및 포르투갈과 그 식민지들 같이 스페인어를 구사하는 나라들에 유배되었던 스파라딤 유대인이 있습니다. 또한 북유럽 및 중부 유럽의 게르만어(이디쉬)를 구사하는 나라들에 유배되었던 아쉬케나지 유대인들이 있습니다. 그래서 스파라딤이 읽는 하프타라는 에스겔 45:18-46:15이고, 아쉬케나짐이 읽는 하프타라는 에스겔 45:16-46:18입니다. 여러분은 저희 유대인 전통에서 저희가 그토록 사소한 것에 집중하여 그것에 대해 논쟁하는 것을 주된 일로 삼아 우리에게는 결코 명분이 없지 않다는 것, 그리하여 “결코 지루하지 않다”는 것을 보실 수 있을 것입니다.

이제 신약성경 포션에 대해서 말씀드리자면, 저희에게 신약성경에 대한 전통은 없지만, 다소 간의 합의된 것은 있습니다. 우리는 누가복음 22:1-13을 읽을 것입니다. 물론, 우리는 유월절에 가까워지고 있습니다. 당연히 우리는 봄의 시작과 함께 이 큰 역사적 구속(구원) 사건과 새로운 시작에 맞춰 우리의 마음과 삶을 준비합니다.

우리의 적 혹은 우리의 죄와 허물로부터의 구속/구원의 과정에는 성경에서 여러 차례 반복되는 패턴이 있습니다. 토라 포션은 사실 성경에서 반복적으로 패턴을 정립 했습니다.

우리의 성경의 절기들이 이러한 패턴을 따르고 있는 것이 흥미로운데요, 이는 하나님께서 아브라함을 택하시고 그를 모든 민족에게 빛이 되도록 택하신 하나님의 백성 이스라엘 민족의 조상으로 삼으신 시대 이후 저희의 현실을 반영하는 것입니다.

우리는 부림절을 막 지냈습니다. 부림절은 바사(페르시아) 왕과 그의 재상 하만이 유대 민족 전체를 멸절시키려 했던 실질적이고 구체적인 위협으로부터의 구원을 기념하는 명절입니다. 당시 세계에서 가장 강력한 제국이었던 페르시아/이란의 소원으로부터의 구원을 기념한 몇 주 후, 우리는 애굽(이집트)에서의 오랜 노예 생활에서 해방되어 자유를 얻고 시내산에서 하나님으로부터 토라를 받은 하나님의 구원을 기념합니다.

슬픈 점은 이러한 패턴이 성경에서 여러 번 반복되었고, 우리 역사에서도 여러 차례, 심지어 20세기에도 한 번 이상 반복되었다는 것입니다.

만약 제가 성경 역사 전체에서 구속(구원)의 씨를 선택한다면, 그것을 통해 보고 배우고, 죄로 인해 고통받고 죄값을 치르고 다시 일어서서 죄를 씻고 세워나가는 악순환에 빠지지 않도록 노력하는 것은 간단할 것입니다. 그리고 우리 각자가 그 패턴을 이해한다면, 이번 안식일 토라 포션에서도 다음과 같은 것을 배울 수 있을 것입니다:

우리는 공동체, 가족, 국가, 그리고 한 집단으로서, 각 구성원은 공동체에 대한 책임을 지고 있습니다. 따라서 각 사람은 공동체의 이익을 위한 공동의 노력에 참여해야 합니다. 비록 각 사람이 1 세겔을 내든 5 세겔짜리 동전 하나를 내든, 그는 자신이 공동체에 대한 소유의식을 갖고 있으며, 그 소유의식이 자신을 공동체 전체의 일원으로 만든다는 것을 알고 있습니다. 각 사람은 최소한 다른 구성원들과 마찬가지로 동등한 금액을 투자했고, 이는 공동체의 미래를 위해 기여함에 있어서 평등함, 그리고 공동체로부터 비롯되는 권리와 특권에서의 불평등에 있어서 평등함을 느끼게 해줍니다.

이러한 패턴의 다음 단계는 각 사람이 공동체 전체보다 더 큰 목적과 사명을 가진 총체로 통합되는 것입니다. 이사야 선지자의 말처럼, “하나님께서는 우리를 이방의 빛으로 부르셨습니다!” 이러한 순환은 성경 역사에서 여러 번 전환점을 맞이하는데, 그 중 하나가 노아와 그의 가족 시대입니다. 두 번째 순환은 아브라함 가문의 문제입니다. 그의 증손자들은 가족 구성원을 이용해 먹고 야곱과 에서의 경우처럼 두 형제 사이에 증오와 적개심의 새로운 악순환을 만들어냅니다. 이 순환이 끝나자 야곱의 자손들은 동생 요셉을 미워하고 시기하여 그를 죽이고 애굽에 노예로 팔아넘기려 합니다. 이렇게 새로운 순환이 시작되고, 애굽 제국의 감옥에서 새로운 구속자(구원자)가 나타납니다.

친애하는 형제님들, 이러한 악순환을 해결하거나 적어도 늦추는 비결을 이해하는 것은 그리 어렵지 않습니다. 그 비결은 공동체 구성원 각자가 모두 참여하여 최소한 5 세겔짜리 은화 한 닢씩을 내는 것입니다. 이번 토라 포션에서 알 수 있듯이, 하나님의 지혜는 각 개인이 공동체 전체의 유익을 위한 공동의 노력에 참여할 수 있고 또 참여해야 한다는 것을 보여줍니다. 부자는 본인이 원한다면 더 많이 낼 수 있지만, 공동체의 모든 구성원이 적어도 최소 금액을 낼 수 있고 또 내야 합니다. 왜냐하면 그것이 그들에게 공동체의 동등한 구성원으로서의 권리와 특권을 부여하기 때문입니다. 이 원칙은 시내 광야에 성막을 짓는 일에서 볼 수 있을 뿐 아니라, 우리 모두가 같은 무교병 마짜를 나눠 먹는 유월절을 지킬 때도 볼 수 있습니다. 우리는 모두 같은 포도주 잔에 무교병을 찍어 먹고, 함께 앉아 같은 어린양을 먹습니다. 신약성경은 우리에게 이렇게 행하여 유월절을 지키라고 명령하고 있지만, 기독교는 성경의 메시지를 왜곡하고 하나님의 말씀과 명령에서 멀어졌습니다. 이 본문을 보면 하나님의 지혜가 얼마나 분명하게 드러나는지 알 수 있습니다.

너희가 자랑하는 것이 옳지 아니하도다 적은 누룩이 온 덩어리에 퍼지는 것을 알지 못하느냐 너희는 누룩 없는 자인데 새 덩어리가 되기 위하여 묵은 누룩을 내버리라 우리의 유월절 양 곧 그리스도께서 희생되셨느니라 이러므로 우리가 명절을 지키되 묵은 누룩으로도 말고 악하고 악의에 찬 누룩으로도 말고 누룩이 없이 오직 순전함과 진실함의 떡으로 하자 (고린도전서 5:6-8) 이것은 권고가 아니라, 예슈아의 모든 제자들이 이 절기를 지키고 기념하라는 명령입니다.

우리는 우리 조상들이 빠졌던 함정과 그들의 조상들이 얼마 전에야 빠져나온 수렁에 다시 빠지지 않도록 기념하고, 기억하고, 배우며 교훈을 얻는 것입니다.

New Testament Luke's Gospel 22:1-13.

The Torah portion that will be read in every synagogue around the world on this next Shabbat is called in Hebrew Vayakhel ("He Assembled"), which opens as God commands the Israelites to observe the Sabbath. Moses asks for material donations for the building of the Mishkan (Tabernacle), and the people donate. A group of artisans designated by God begins building the Mistakan. This Hebrew word comes from the root of the word " doweling ", meaning " to place.

The second reading of this Shabbat comes from the word “to count” - Pekudei “Accountings”. This Shabbat we are finishing the readings from the book of Exodus. It is the final Torah reading in the Book of Exodus. It describes the making of priestly garments worn in the Mishkan (Tabernacle) and the completion of its construction. At God’s command, Moses erects the Mishkan and puts its vessels in place, and God's presence fills the Mishkan.

The readings from the Torah on this Shabbat are a bit strange, from Exodus 35:1-40:38, 12:1-20. There is an additional reading of this Shabbat from Exodus 12:1-20 because according to Israel’s older calendar in the Torah this month of Nissan gives the name for this reading as Shabbat HaChodesh. This is the actual read Torah Jewish New Year not in November with the blowing of the trumpets (Ram’s horn) that we learned and borrowed from our pagan neighbours, but with the beginning of Spring time in the end of March and the beginning of Nissan that is called in our Torah reading on this Shabbat “The first month”, (The head of the months). The Torah reading: Exodus 35:1-40:38, plus Exodus 12:1-20.

The Haftarah (reading from the prophets is from Ezekiel 45:16-46:18 | Shabbat HaChodesh. I will not enter now into the differences in the reading of the Torah and prophets between the Sephardim and the Ashkenazim. But just a short note real peace and brotherhood is always just a foot away from religious traditions and that is true also for us the Jews. We have the Sephardim – Jews that were around 500 years exiled in the Spanish Speaking countries, like Spain and Portugal and their colonies. And we have the Ashkenazi Jews that were in Exile in the Germanic (Yiddish) speaking countries more north and Central Europe. So, reading the Haftarah for Sephardim: Ezekiel 45:18-46:15. Reading the Haftarah of the Ashkenazim is from Ezekiel 45:16-46:18. You can see from our Jewish Traditions how we have learned to concentrate on such minors and make them majors to give us something to argue about so that we are never without a cause and therefore “never bored.”

Now, from the New Testament, we don't have a real tradition, but we have more or less a consensus. We will be reading from Luke's Gospel 22:1-13. Of course, we are approaching the Passover. Naturally, we are beginning to prepare our minds and life tuned to these mega historical events of redemption and new beginnings together with the beginning of the spring season.

The process of redemption // Salvation from the enemy or from our own sins and mistakes has a pattern that repeats itself several times in the Bible. The Torah readings actually set up the pattern repeatedly in the Bible.

It is interesting that our Biblical holidays follow this pattern, which is a reflection of our reality since the days when God chose Abraham and commissioned him to be the father of the nation of Israel, God's people chosen to be the element of light for all the nations.

We just celebrated the feast of Purim – the real and tangible threat of extinction for the whole Jewish nation by the King of Persia and his prime minister, Haman. A few weeks after the desire of the most powerful empire in our part of the world, Persia // Iran, we celebrate the divine deliverance from a long period of slavery in Egypt and exit to freedom and receiving the Torah from God's hand on Mount Sinai.

The sad part of this pattern that repeats itself several times in the Bible and more times in our history, even in the 20th Century, more than one round.

If I would chose the very seed of redemption in all of Biblical history, it would be simple to see and learn from it and try to avoid falling into this cycle of falling and suffering and paying for our sins and having to get up and clean up and build up and if we as individuals understand the pattern we would learn even from our Torah portion of this next Shabbat the following:

We are a collective, a family, a nation, a group of people where each member has a responsibility to the collective. Therefore, he (the individual) must take part in the general effort for the good of the collective. Even if the individual contributes one Shekel or a coin of five Shekels, the individual knows that he has ownership in the collective and that ownership makes him a part of all the community. The individual has invested in himself at least an equal amount, like most of his fellow individuals, and that gives him a good feeling of being equal in the giving and inequality in rights and privileges that come from the community for the community's future.

The next stage of the pattern is the consolidation of the individuals into a collective with a purpose and a mission that is greater than the whole of the community. To put it in the words of the prophet Isaiah, "God called us to be a light to the Gentiles!" This cycle has several turns in biblical history, one of which is the generation of Noah and his family. A second cycle is the problem in Abraham's family and his great-grandchildren take advantage of their own family members and start a new cycle of hate and enmity between two brothers like Jacob and Esau and when this cycle ends a new cycle begins between Jacob's children that hate and envy their younger sibling Joseph and are willing to kill him first and settle by selling him to be a slave in Egypt. There you have it, a new cycle starts with a new redeemer rising from the dungeons of the Egyptian empire.

The secret, dear brothers, for the solution or at least slowing down this cycle, is not so difficult to understand. The secret is general participation and contribution of at least one coin of five silver shekels by each one of the members of the community. God's wisdom is demonstrated in our Torah readings that each individual can and must take part in the collective effort that is for the good of the whole community. The rich can give more if they want to do so, but every one of the members of the community can and must give at least the minimum amount because that gives them the right and privilege to be an equal member of the whole community. This principle is seen in the building of the tabernacle in the wilderness of Sinai, but also in the Passover feast celebration we all share from the same unleavened bread, the Matzah. We all dip in the same cup of wine, and we all sit together and eat from the same lamb. The New Testament commands us to do this and celebrate the Passover, but Christianity has corrupted the biblical message and distanced itself from God's word and commandments. Just see this text and see God's wisdom demonstrated so clearly.

Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? Therefore, purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. Therefore, let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 1 Corinthians 5:7-8. This is not a recommendation; it is a command for all disciples of Yeshua to celebrate and keep the feast.

We celebrate, remember, and learn not to fall into the same traps that our ancestors stumbled into and the same pits that their fathers just recently came out of.

Pray for the following brothers and sisters who need divine grace and the gentle touch of the hand of God for healing and strength.

In Jerusalem:

 new Danah : Her flights out of Israel are canceled. Pray for a safe flight to open up for her.

 new Joseph and Hannah are Traveling next week to Portugal and Brazil - safe travels.

 Please pray for our dear sister, Lea Kurki who is in her 90s with a home care taker.

 Judy is near 100 years old and has been placed in a special home for her needs.

 Pray for Adam’s father and mother, Barry and Dalia. They have some health problems and challenges.

 Pray for Miriam a dear sister old age dementia.

 Pray for Um Mahmud Abu-Eid, Jimmy Abu-Eid, and all of the family. This is a dear family of old friends that needs healing and wisdom for the children and for their work.

 Please pray for the Romero family, who live deep in the Negev desert. It is hot there, and they are far from our congregation, and we miss them.

 Mauno Lemponen health has not changed which is a good thing. they are evaluating moving closer to other family members — prayers for Hilkka, Miika, and Ester who will support this possible change. Please pray as moving is always a big task.

 Keijo and Salme are doing well. Both Keijo and Salme need your prayers for their health issues.

 Cynthia M asked that you for praying for her health. She has neutropenia and chronic asthma and I has been undergoing biological treatment with injections every two weeks since 2021 so I ask you to pray for better results and better health conditions as the symptoms, respiratory infections, medications and injections make me very tired every day.

 Mass has lost his wife and has small children. Please pray for Mass a this children as he navigates this major change in his life and the Childrens life. May God bless him with direction.

In Brazil:

 Elisheva’s husband is recovering from a fourth surgery. on September 23 he will have a 5th surgery. Also prayer for healing for Elisheva's left leg and hip joint healing. Also a interview next week for a new job.

 Manny is asking for prayers for his fathers health that is in decline.

 new Shirleyann - was in the hospital this week for internal bleeding. Low BP, Low Sugar. She is back home today recovering. She is a tough bird at 91. Please keep her in your prayers and blessings.

 Jordan Issac - prayer for his treatments to work. Prayer for a mentor to step in and support him in his search for the Lord.

 Pete and Marge. Marge is undergoing test for Breast cancer and they are in the process of trying to get legal guardianship of their grandkids. They are both in the mid 80s. Please pray for strength and longevity to get these kids past college age.

 Aida Ramirez turned 100 this past Tuesday dec 23. is in a wheelchair recovering from a hip surgery and is dealing with dementia. continue to pray for her and her family (Aida Gonzalez is taking care of it)

 Pat S pain management has improved with some shots. Keep Philip who is 89 and is caring for Pat in you prayers.

 Larry is asking for prayers for his grandchildren. I would say most of us that have grandchildren are concerned about the states of the world. The state of intolerance. The temptations out there. Please pray for the holy sprit to guide them in making good choices.

 Juli got a good report on her last scan and she is also in remission. So praise God. Give thanks to the Lord for he is Good.

 Bill has been able to change the regiment where the side effects are manageable and we are thankful for that. We are praying for healing and strength and comfort for Jill and Bill.

 Barbra and Angie in Alaska. Barbra has some pains and discomfort related to old age. Please lift them in prayer for strength and reduction in pain.

 Please pray for Danah, my daughter's health issues. I pray for the Lord to give Danah wisdom, peace, and calm in life and her work.

 Aaron Hook, Nancy Hook’s oldest son, needs our prayers for wisdom and healing from past life issues.

 Pray for these important men of God: Rabbi Salt, his family, and Rabbi Hasselblad. They are both older and need protection and blessings.

 pray for Ilana Avramov, who is married to my cousin Nissim and lives in New York City. Ilana is home now. her health is in a decline like Marcia. She and Nissim both need our prayers.

 Pray for Steve Mock - His cognitive condition has declined, and we ask for the grace of God and His Healing and strength. Steve and Josie’s son Joseph has received a wonderful and glorious report. After the last bone marrow transplant, the report is that the doctors didn’t find any leukemia in his body! Praise the Lord!
