요셉 슐람 이 기도 목록을 읽으시는 귀한 형제자매 여러분 모두께 샬롬 인사드립니다. 이 기도 목록을 처음 읽으시는 분이시라면, 이 기도 목록의 목적은 두 가지입니다. 첫 번째 목적은 간단합니다. 저는 여러분이 사도들의 조언과 명령을 따를 것을 권장합니다. 사도행전 15장에서 사도들과 예루살렘 교회 장로들은 예슈아의 모든 비-유대인 제자들을 위한 명령과 한 가지 권고를 했습니다: “하나님이 처음으로 이방인 중에서 자기 이름을 위할 백성을 취하시려고 그들을 돌보신 것을 시므온이 말하였으니 선지자들의 말씀이 이와 일치하도다 기록된 바 이 후에 내가 돌아와서 다윗의 무너진 장막을 다시 지으며 또 그 허물어진 것을 다시 지어 일으키리니 이는 그 남은 사람들과 내 이름으로 일컬음을 받는 모든 이방인들로 주를 찾게 하려 함이라 하셨으니 즉 예로부터 이것을 알게 하시는 주의 말씀이라 함과 같으니라 그러므로 내 의견에는 이방인 중에서 하나님께로 돌아오는 자들을 괴롭게 하지 말고 다만 우상의 더러운 것과 음행과 목매어 죽인 것과 피를 멀리하라고 편지하는 것이 옳으니 이는 예로부터 각 성에서 모세를 전하는 자가 있어 안식일마다 회당에서 그 글을 읽음이라 하더라” (사도행전 15:14-21) 사도 바울을 포함하여 모든 사도들의 명령인데요, 사도 바울은 이 결정이 내려질 때 그곳에 참석하여 이 결정에 전적으로 동의했습니다. 회당에서 하나님의 말씀을 들으라는 이 강력한 권고를 한 이유는 당시에는 사도들에게 오늘날 우리처럼 하나님의 말씀을 여러 번역본으로 볼 수 있는 아이폰이나 아이패드가 없었기 때문입니다. 하나님의 말씀이 있는 유일한 곳은 회당이었을 테니까요. 그곳에서 매주 안식일마다 토라 포션과 선지서 포션을 공중 낭독했을 테니까요. 전 세계 대부분의 교회에서 여러분은 일요일 아침마다 설교단에서 성경 몇 구절을 언급하는 것을 들을 수 있을 것입니다. 그러나 성경의 상당한 분량을 공중 낭독하지는 않습니다. 이 때문에 제가 35년 넘게 매주 안식일에 전 세계 모든 회당에서 읽을 바로 그 성경 포션에서 뭔가를 써오고 있는 것입니다. 물론, 우리는 신약성경에서 병행 구절을 더 읽기도 합니다. 그렇게 우리는 토라 포션과 선지서와 신약성경에서 연관된 포션을 읽고 있습니다. 귀한 제임스 타볼 박사님은 제 오랜 친구인데요, 그가 일요일 아침에 일리노이주에 있는 한 교회에서 설교하시던 때에, 그의 회중은 토라와 선지서와 신약성경과 미쉬나에서 말씀을 읽었습니다.[1] 이번 안식일(토요일)에 읽을 토라 포션과 선지서 포션과 또한 신약성경에서 읽을 부분은 다음과 같습니다. 토라 포션은 베하알로트카, 민수기 8:1~12:16입니다. 선지서에서 읽는 부분은 스가랴 2:14~4:7입니다. 신약성경에서 읽는 부분은 마태복음 14:14-21입니다. 이 토라 포션의 이름은 “베하알로트카”입니다. 다음과 같이 번역되는 민수기 8장 1절 중에 이 한 단어가 있습니다: “모세가 장막 세우기를 끝내고 그것에 기름을 발라 거룩히 구별하고 또 그 모든 기구와 제단과 그 모든 기물에 기름을 발라 거룩히 구별한 날에 … 여호와께서 또 모세에게 말씀하여 이르시되 아론에게 말하여 이르라 등불을 켤 때에는 일곱 등잔을 등잔대 앞으로 비추게 할지니라 하시매” 민수기의 이 장들은 가장 극적인 것들과 특별히 하나님의 백성의 지도자들에게 아주 중요한 실제적 조언을 담고 있습니다. 민수기 8장–12장의 토라 포션에서 21세기에 주는 실제적인 주된 교훈은 다음과 같은데요, 장별로 정리되어 있고 각각의 통찰은 본문에 근거하여 현대 우리의 현실에 적용됩니다: 민수기 8장 – 봉헌 및 봉사 1. 우리의 예배와 봉사는 목적적이어야 합니다. 우리 회중을 자동 조종으로 날아가게 해서는 안 됩니다. 하나님께서는 하나님을 섬기도록 레위인들을 선택하셨습니다. 그들은 성막에서의 봉사를 위해 훈련되고, 준비되고, 성별(聖別)되었습니다. 오늘날에는 성막이 없습니다. 예루살렘이나 그 어느 곳에도 성전이 없습니다. 우리에게는 여러 곳 출신의, 다양한 배경을 가진 형제자매들의 회중이 있습니다. 이것은 이점이지, 결코 짐이 아닙니다. 우리 회중에는 현지 출신과 여러 나라에서 온 형제자매들이 있습니다. 우리는 우리 자신과 하나님께서 우리에게 주신 이들을 구비되게 하고 성별되게 해야 합니다. 이 장은 우리에게 오늘날에도 우리의 지도자들의 영적 역할에는 헌신과 준비와 성별이 필요하다는 것을 상기시킵니다.[2] 우리는 영적 영역이든, 교육적 영역이든, 사회적 영역이든 우리의 영역에서 서로를 섬기도록 부름 받았고, 전도유망한 미래를 추구하는 사람이라면 누구든 분명한 목표와 의도가 필수적입니다. 2. 건강한 지도자에게는 평생 학습과 준비가 있어야 합니다. 레위인들은 25세에 봉사하기 시작해서 50세에 봉사에서 물러났습니다. 그들은 50세 이후에도 계속 젊은 지도자들을 돕고 인도할 것으로 기대되었습니다. 이것은 생애 주기 존중에 있어서 고무적입니다: 겸손히 시작해서 은퇴가 아닌, 모범이 되고 인도함으로써 젊은 세대 지도자들에게 본이 되고 그들을 지켜주는 멘토로 옮겨가는 생애 주기 말입니다. 3. 빛은 측정할 수 있고, 볼 수 있고, 주위 모든 것에 강력한 영향력이 있는 물리적 요소입니다. 메노라는 성소를 비추기 위해 밝히는데요, 우리가 세상의 빛이 되라고 부름 받은 것을 상징합니다(마 5:14-16). 우리의 말과 행동은 혼돈과 종교적 사기로 자욱한 세상에 투명함과 온기와 도덕적 지향점을 가져다 주어야 합니다. 성막의 성소 안의 등대는 이스라엘에서 하나님에 대한 예배의 핵심 설비였습니다. 국제연합이 이스라엘 국가를 인정했을 때, 프랑스 정부는 거의 2,000년 만에 예루살렘에 수립된 첫 유대 의회에 두도록 성막의 메노라를 본 딴 청동 메노라를 이스라엘 국가에 기증했습니다. 오늘날까지 이스라엘 정부의 상징인 이 메노라는 이스라엘 의회 가까이에 있습니다. 오늘날 이스라엘에 적대적으로 행동하고 있는 프랑스 정부는 얼마나 다른지요! 그렇게 된 이유는 다른 모든 서유럽 국가들과 마찬가지로, 프랑스도 에덴 동산에서 이브에게 말을 걸었던 바로 그 뱀을 삼켰기 때문입니다. 유대계 불가리아 시인의 헌사와 함께 자유의 여신상을 뉴욕에 기증했던 것도 프랑스였습니다. 민수기 9장 – 유연성 및 충직함 여기에, 요셉 슐람에 관한 한, 토라에서 가장 놀랍고, 탁월하고, 중요한 본문 중 하나가 있습니다. 그 이유는 간단하면서 가장 중요합니다. 이스라엘이 첫 번째 유월절 이후 어느 한 달에 출애굽의 기념일로 두 번째 유월절을 지키도록 하나님께서 마련하신 것은 하나님의 성품을 드러내는 것입니다. 1. 하나님께서는 경직적인 율법주의자가 아니며 모진 독재자가 아닙니다. 2. 하나님께서는 인간의 연약함, 날씨, 일하러 다니는 것, 아픈 사람이나 여러분의 시간과 봉사가 필요한 사람이 있는 것, 이것이 하나님의 은혜와 구원을 기념하는 날인 성경 절기 중 가장 중요한 절기인 유월절일지라도 명령을 지키는 것보다 더 중요하다는 것을 이해하십니다. 하나님께서는 이스라엘 민족에게도, 우상숭배와 이교의 비도덕성을 버리고 이스라엘에 합류한 이방인들에게도 가장 중요한 역사적 사건을 기념하는 날인 유월절을 정해진 날짜에 지킬 수 없는 사람들에게 또 다른 기회를 주십니다. 사도 바울은 전에 이방인이었던 이런 사람들에게 명령에 따라 유월절을 지키라고 명합니다. 바울의 말은 백주대낮같이 명백합니다. 그런데도, 지금 대부분의 기독교인들에게 이것은 진흙과 스페인과 포르투갈 종교재판과 나치 홀로코스트의 순교자들의 피와 2023년 10월 7일 가자지구 국경 근처 마을들과 키부츠 공동체의 학살 때 희생자들의 피로 덮여 있습니다. 잔혹한 적들은 아기들과 할머니 할아버지들을 그들의 아들, 딸들과 함께 죽이도록 훈련받고 정진했으며, 아기들을 참수했습니다. 그러한 행위가 일어날 수 있는 유일한 경우는 사람들이 모든 인류에 심겨진 하나님의 형상을 잃었을 때뿐입니다. 제가 아랍 민족이나 이슬람 신앙을 가진 사람들에 대해 말하고 있는 것이 아님을 분명히 해야 할 필요가 있습니다. 그것이 아니라, 저는 사람이라고 불릴 권리를 잃은 테러리스트 단체에 대해 말하고 있는 것입니다. 저희 나라의 유일한 여성 수상이었던 골드 메이어는 말했습니다: “저는 우리의 적들이 우리를 미워하고 우리를 죽이고자 할 때 그들을 용서할 수 있습니다. 저는 그들이 우리 군인들로 하여금 그들과 그들의 가족, 아이들을 죽이게 만드는 것은 결코 용서할 수 없습니다.” 오늘날 우리는 우리 핸드폰과 자동차에 위성항법시스템(지피에스)이 있습니다. 세계 어느 곳이든 가가호호 우리를 안내해주는 프로그램이 있습니다. 그런데 이스라엘 진영 중심 성막 위에 하나님께서 이스라엘에 신호를 주는 낮에는 구름 기둥, 밤에는 불 기둥이 있어, 여행 안내자처럼 모세와 온 이스라엘에 언제 짐을 싸고 움직이기 시작하고, 언제 정지하여 짐을 풀고 다시 갈 때까지 기다리도록 신호를 준다고 생각해 보십시오. 낮에 있는 구름, 밤에 있는 불은 계속되는 하나님의 임재와 적기(適期)를 나타냅니다. 과도한 일정과 자기 신뢰의 우리 시대에 이것은 우리에게 영적 민감성과 예상할 수 없을지라도 하나님의 적기에 대한 신뢰의 중요성을 가르칩니다. 저는 제 위에 언제 주차하고 언제 운전해야 하는지 안내해 줄 그런 구름이 있으면 좋겠습니다. (민수기 10장) - 지시에는 소통이 필요합니다. 하나님께서는 온 이스라엘 진영과 소통할 수 있는 수단을 주셨습니다. 1. 하나님께서는 모세와 아론에게 분명한 소통, 공동체 조정, 전쟁과 평화에 대한 지시, 언제 정주하고 언제 움직이며, 언제 전쟁에 나가 싸우고, 언제 퇴각해야 하는지를 소통하기 위해 은 나팔을 만들라고 명하셨습니다. 이런 종류의 소통은 모든 공동체에 필수적이기에, 하나님께서는 이 나팔을 통해 이스라엘에 언제 전쟁에 돌입할지, 언제 전쟁을 그칠지, 언제 잠잠히 진을 치는 것이 중요한지에 대한 규칙과 지시를 주셨습니다. 이 은 나팔들은 로마 포룸의 티투스 개선문에 기록되어 있는데요, 여기에 예루살렘 파괴 후 예루살렘 성전의 기구들을 가져와 로마 거리를 따라 과시하며 행진하는 것이 새겨져 있습니다.

======================================================= The Jerusalem Prayer List – 13 June, 2025
by Joseph Shulam Shalom to all of you dear brothers and sisters reading this prayer list. If you are a new reader of this prayer list, it has two goals. The first goal is simple. I want to encourage you to follow the advice and command of the Apostles. In Acts 15, the Apostles and some of the church elders in Jerusalem made commands and one recommendation for all the non-Jewish disciples of Yeshua: “Simon has declared how God at the first visited the Gentiles to take out of them a people for His name. And with this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is written: 'After this I will return And will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; I will rebuild its ruins, And I will set it up; So that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, Even all the Gentiles who are called by My name, Says the Lord who does all these things.' "Known to God from eternity are all His works. Therefore, I judge that we should not trouble those from among the Gentiles who are turning to God, but that we write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from things strangled, and from blood. For Moses has had throughout many generations those who preach him in every city, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath." (Acts 15 :14 -21 NKJV) . All the Apostles' commands included the Apostle Paul, who was there when these decisions were made and was in total agreement with these decisions. This strong recommendation to hear the word of God read in synagogues is because then, the disciples didn't have iPhones and iPads with multiple versions of the Word of God in their pockets like we have today. The only place with God's word would be a synagogue. There, every Shabbat, the Torah portion and the portion from the prophets would have been publicly read. In most churches worldwide, you might hear a few lines or verses mentioned from the pulpit on Sunday mornings, but no serious portion of the scripture is read publicly. This is one reason I have been writing for more than 35 years, every week, something from the same portion of the scriptures that is read in all the synagogues worldwide on the Sabbath. Of course, we also add the parallel portion of scriptures from the New Testament. So, we have the Torah portion read and the portion connected from the prophets and the New Testament. I have a dear old friend, Dr. James Tabor, who, when he was preaching in a church in Illinois on Sunday, in his congregation they read from the Torah, the Prophets, and from the New Testament, and also from the Mishnah[1] On this next Sabbath (Saturday), the readings will be from the Torah portion and the prophets, and we will also be reading from the New Testament. Beha'alotcha, Numbers 8:1-12 – 12:16. The reading is from the prophets, Zechariah 2:14 to 4:7. From the New Testament, Matthew 14:14 to 21. The name of this portion is "Beha'alotcha". This one word in the opening of this chapter 8 of the book of Numbers is translated in English with the following words: “Now it came to pass, when Moses had finished setting up the tabernacle, that he anointed it and consecrated it and all its furnishings, and the altar and all its utensils; so he anointed them and consecrated them." And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 'Speak to Aaron, and say to him, 'When you arrange the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light in front of the lampstand.' "" These chapters of the Book of Numbers contain some of the most dramatic and essential practical advice, especially for the leadership of God's people. Here are the main practical lessons for the 21st century from the Torah reading of Numbers 8–12, organized by chapter, with each insight rooted in the text and applied to our modern reality: Numbers 8 – Dedication and Service 1. Our worship and service must be purposeful. We cannot have a congregation flying on autopilot. God chooses the Levites for divine service. They are trained, prepared, and consecrated for the service in the Tabernacle. We don't have a Tabernacle today. We don't have the Temple in Jerusalem or anywhere else. We have a congregation of people and brothers and sisters from many different places and backgrounds. This is an advantage, not a burden at all. We have brothers and sisters, local and International. We must equip and sanctify ourselves and those whom God gave us. This chapter reminds us that even today, spiritual roles require dedication, preparation, and sanctity[2] in our leadership. We are called to serve each other in our sphere—whether spiritual, educational, or social—clear goals and intentions are necessary for anyone seeking a promising future. 2. A healthy leader needs Lifelong Learning and preparation. The Levites began their service at 25 and retired at 50. They were expected to continue supporting and guiding the younger leaders after age 50. This encouraged honoring seasons of life: beginning with humility and transitioning into mentorship, not retirement, to be a good example and to protect the young generation of leaders by guiding and setting an example. 3. Light is a strong physical element that is measurable, visible, and strongly influences all the surroundings. The menorah is lit to illuminate the sanctuary, symbolizing our calling to be light in the world (cf. Matthew 5:14-16). Our words and deeds must bring clarity, warmth, and moral orientation in a world clouded by confusion and religious deceptions. The candelabra in the Holy of Holies in the tabernacle was a central fixture of the worship of God in Israel. When the UN recognised the State of Israel, the government of France contributed to the first Jewish Parliament in Jerusalem after nearly 2000 years, a copy of the Menora of the Tabernacle in bronze to the state of Israel. And until today, the Menora is near the Israeli parliament, the symbol of the Israeli government. How different is the French government acting today against Israel! The reason is that France, like all of Western Europe, has swallowed the snake, the same one that was talking to Eve in the Garden of Eden. This is also the same France that contributed the Statue of Liberty to New York with the inscription of a Jewish Bulgarian poet. Numbers 9 – Flexibility and Faithfulness Here is one of the most amazing, excellent, and essential texts in the Torah, as far as Joseph Shulam is concerned. The reason is simple and most important. God's arrangements for Israel to celebrate a second Passover one month after the first Passover, an anniversary of the exodus, are a revelation of God's character. 1. God is not a legalistic, stiff, and brutal dictator. 2. God understands our human weaknesses, the weather, being on a trip for work, and having someone sick or in need of your time and services, it is more important than keeping a command, even if it is the Passover, the most important biblical holiday, and Memorial Day of God's grace and salvation. God gives to those who couldn't keep the Passover on the correct date, on the Memorial Day of the most important historical event for the nation of Israel, and also for the Gentiles who left their idolatry and pagan immorality and joined Israel, another opportunity. The apostle Paul commands these ex-gentiles to follow the command and keep the Passover. Paul's words are as clear as daylight. Still, now for most Christian's it is covered with mud and blood of the martyrs of the Spanish and Portuguese Inquisition and the Nazi holocaust and by the bloody massacre of October 7th 2023 in the surrounding villages and Kibbutz communities around the boarders of Gaza. The monstrous enemies trained and drudged to kill babies and grandmothers and grandfathers together with their sons and daughters, and babies were beheaded. The only way such behavior can happen is when people lose the image of God that is imbedded in all mankind. I need to make it clear that I am not talking about the Arab nation or people of the Muslim faith. No, I am talking about a group of terrorists who have lost the right to be called Humans. Our only female prime minister, Gold Mayer, said: “I can forgive our enemies when they hate us and want to kill us. I can never forgive them for forcing our soldiers to kill them and their families and children. Today, we have GPS on our cell phones and in our cars. We have programs that guide us from door to door anywhere in the world. But imagine that in the center of the camp of Israel above the tent of meeting, the Holy Tabernacle there is a cloud by day and a pillar of fire there is a signal given to Israel by God that is guiding Moses and all of Israel like a tour guide when to pack up and start moving and when to settle down and unpack the tents and wait when to go and when to park. The cloud by day and fire by night represent God's ongoing presence and timing. In our age of over-scheduling and self-reliance, this teaches us the importance of spiritual sensitivity and trusting divine timing, even when unpredictable. I wish I had such a cloud above me to guide me when to park and when to drive. Order requires communication. God provided tools to communicate with the whole camp of Israel. 1. God commanded Moses and Aaron to make silver trumpets for clear communication, Community Coordination, and instruction for war and peace, of when to pack and when to move, when to fight in the war, and when to retreat. This kind of communication is essential for every community, and God gives Israel the rules and the instructions to make the signals from these trumpets of when to enter the war, when to stop the war, and when it is crucial to calm down and camp. These silver trumpets are documented in the arch of Titus in the Roman Forum, which records the taking of the furniture of the temple in Jerusalem and parading it through the streets of Rome after the fall of Jerusalem. 2. Honoring Allies from Outside the Covenant: Moses invites Hobab, a Midianite, to guide them. This shows respect for non-Israelite wisdom and cooperation and encourages us to build bridges with those outside our community, nation, or faith today. 3. Movement with Purpose: Israel moves forward toward the Promised Land. Likewise, our lives and institutions must avoid stagnation and move forward with intentionality and alignment with divine direction. Numbers 11 – Grumbling, Provision, and Spirit God responds uniquely to the children of Israel's grumblings about bread and meat. A typical response from leadership in any community today would be to simply scream at the people and say: "You ungrateful bunch of lazy idiots. You are always only complaining, 'we want–we need–we deserve…" God's grace and understanding of our human weakness are essential paradigms in our relationship with the Almighty God, creator of the universe. We, Israel, complained, fussed, cried for bread. God sent them Manna fresh every morning, and more than enough for all of Israel and the tribes of non-Israelite tribes that joined them out of Egypt. They complained, and God provided. Daily and fresh delivery every morning, fresh and free Manna. This Manna was incredibly special because it converted to different tastes according to the wishes of those who ate it. The text from Numbers 11:7 says, “Now the manna was like coriander seed, and its colour was like bdellium." We find different tastes described as the Manna from heaven: “And the house of Israel called its name Manna. And it was like white coriander seed, and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey." Exodus 16:31. Moses is getting older—he is 70 years old—and he cannot bear the burden of leadership alone any longer. He needs to share the authority that God gave him. This need is now public, and in any situation like this, there are wolves and bears waiting around the corner to take Moses down and take over the full leadership of God's people. What Moses is looking for is God's intervention in the solution of this real leadership problem. The Torah brings up the challenge of transfer of leadership, which immediately brings up all kinds of opportunists and people over-motivated with selfish power hunger, like Eldad and Medad, who smelled the fact that Moses was weak and were looking for an opportunity to become leaders. They began to prophesy outside the camp. Outside the Camp because they know that inside the camp, they will be confronted by Moses and be shamed because their plot would become evident to all of Israel. “The Spirit Goes Where He Wills: Eldad and Medad prophesy outside the main gathering. Moses rejoices, saying, "Would that all the LORD's people were prophets!" (Num. 11:29). Moses's reaction is wonderfully humble and correct, and it disarms Eldad and Medad publicly. This teaches openness to spiritual inspiration beyond the official structures—a needed humility in today's religious leadership. The last episode of our Torah reading on Shabbat is important, and it is mentioned and referenced several times in the New Testament. Numbers 12. Miriam and Aaron, Moses's sister and older brother, smell Moses's weakness as a man and as a leader in his mild reaction to Edad and Medad's action. They feel that perhaps the leadership of God's people should be given to them. They are family, and they have been there from the beginning. Miriam is a prophet, and the leadership ought to stay in the family. Here is the text: “Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married; for he had married an Ethiopian woman. So they said, "Has the Lord indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us also?" And the Lord heard it." (Numbers 12:12). This short text needs an in-depth look to be understood better. God's response to Miriam and Aaron's devious approach and proud attitude was to trick them with leprosy. There were two major sins in the encounter of Aaron and Miriam with Moses and their demand their right as family to inherit his position and position as the leaders of the people of Israel. 1) The sin of pride. 2) The sin of a slanderous attitude, thinking of taking advantage of their family relationship with Moses. Here again, God intervenes by striking Miriam and Aaron with Leprosy. Leprosy is one of the most infectious illnesses in the ancient world, and there is no cure for it; it is easily passed on to others by touch, spit, and other means. It is important to note that this idea of gossip and speaking evil is serious and will definitely damage everyone involved in such behavior. Even today, with smartphones, computers, and iPads, people seem to think they are not gossiping and spreading lies, thinking that this is not gossip or false accusations because the person is not there. We all must be more careful and more aware that sin can be committed in person and by electronic means across oceans and mountains. God have mercy on all of us and protect us from sin and sinners. [2] Sanctity is a quality that allows us to enter into a holy relationship with the almighty and develop a commitment that is based on our understanding and comprehension that we are like grasshoppers before the greatness and holiness of God, and that we are at most servants and not bosses. Dad and mom need your prayers. Mom's eyesight is declining due to her diabetes.
I hope I can update in the next week regarding the expense and the travel budgets goals. We are getting closer.
