I was in shock by the extent of damage to his apartment and the surrounding area, including cars and other buildings. I was also shaken by the realization of how only by the grace of God had he survived; as I witnessed firsthand the reality of the situation. Many families, including our neighbors up the road, whose homes and property were damaged, are now facing not only the devastation itself, but also the immediate need to provide for basic necessities such as temporary housing, medical care, food, and transportation. While the government institutions do provide compensation, the process takes time, and in the critical first days and even weeks families are left to carry the burden on their own. From this place, we, the elders of the Harvest of Asher congregation, through our non-profit organization, are stepping forward in a new initiative, out of a deep commitment to support families who have been affected during this time. We are launching a project to support families from the Western Galilee, both Jewish and Arab, who have been affected by the war. Our goal is to provide families with initial support of approximately 5,000 NIS, offering them breathing space and relief during this difficult time. This is a small act, yet one that can make a meaningful difference.
