이번 주 토라 포션은 출애굽기 27:20~30:10입니다. 선지자의 글에서 읽는 부분은 아주 흥미롭습니다. 부림절 바로 전 안식일에 읽는 선지자의 말씀은 언제나 똑같습니다. 읽는 말씀은 신명기 25:17-19와 사무엘상 15:1-34입니다. 신약성경에서 읽는 말씀은 히브리서 13:10-17입니다.

이번 주가 특별한 안식일인 이유는 에스더서의 절기, 부림절 바로 전이기 때문입니다. 바사(페르시아, 이란) 제국에서 유대인들의 적은 바사의 총리, 아각사람 하만이었습니다.

아각사람은 사울왕이 (주님의 명에 불순종하여) 죽이지 않았던 아말렉 왕 아각의 후손입니다. 사무엘 선지자가 사울에게 왔고, 사울의 불순종 때문에 사울왕은 그의 왕권을 잃었습니다. 지금 우리(유대인들)는 바사왕 아하수에로(크레르세스라고도 하는)의 시대에 있습니다.

이번 주에 선지자의 글에서 읽는 주요 본문은 사실 신명기 25:17-19의 세 구절입니다:

“너희는 애굽에서 나오는 길에 아말렉이 네게 행한 일을 기억하라 곧 그들이 너를 길에서 만나 네가 피곤할 때에 네 뒤에 떨어진 약한 자들을 쳤고 하나님을 두려워하지 아니하였느니라 그러므로 네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 기업으로 주어 차지하게 하시는 땅에서 네 하나님 여호와께서 사방에 있는 모든 적군으로부터 네게 안식을 주실 때에 너는 천하에서 아말렉에 대한 기억을 지워버리라 너는 잊지 말지니라.” - 신명기 25:17-19

아말렉에 대한 깊은 적개심은 그들의 전쟁 방식과 그들의 잔인성과 그들의 혈통에서 비롯됩니다:

“에서의 아들 엘리바스의 첩 딤나는 아말렉을 엘리바스에게 낳았으니 이들은 에서의 아내 아다의 자손이며.” - 창세기 36:12

이 토라 포션에는 우리가 배울 흥미로운 것이 많이 있지만, 저는 이 파라샤의 첫 몇 구절을 다뤄보기로 했습니다:

“너는 또 이스라엘 자손에게 명령하여 감람으로 짠 순수한 기름을 등불을 위하여 네게로 가져오게 하고 끊이지 않게 등불을 켜되 아론과 그의 아들들로 회막 안 증거궤 앞 휘장 밖에서 저녁부터 아침까지 항상 여호와 앞에 그 등불을 보살피게 하라 이는 이스라엘 자손이 대대로 지킬 규례이니라.” - 출애굽기 27:20,21

질문해야 할 질문은 주님께서 왜 모세에게 광야에서 지어진 성막 안에 등불을 밝히는 것과 관련하여 이스라엘 자손에게 명하라고 명하셨는가 입니다. 성경 전체에 걸쳐 모세가 직접 제사장에게 가서 그들에게 일곱 가지를 가진 등대를 밝히는 데에 어떤 종류의 감람유를 사용해야 하는가와 관련하여 명해야 하는 명확한 명령이 있는 곳은 딱 두 곳뿐입니다.

하나님께서는 모세가 직접 제사장들에게 가서 등불을 밝히는 것과 그들이 사용해야 하는 기름 종류에 관해 명하기를 원하셨습니다. 지금 관습은 등불을 밝히는 데에 값싼 올리브유(감람유)를 쓰는 것이었습니다.

이제 하나님께서 모세를 보내 제사장들에게 “처음 착즙한 엑스트라 버진 냉착즙 감람유”를 사용해야 한다고 말하라고 말씀하십니다. 이것은 등불용으로는 가장 귀하고 가장 비싼 올리브유입니다. 꼭 이렇게 순도 높은 기름을 쓸 필요는 없습니다.

바로 이 이유 때문에 하나님께서는 모세를 직접 보내 제사장들에게 명하시는 것입니다. 그렇게 간단한 명령에 대해서는 모세가 그의 보좌관 중 한 명을 보내 제사장들에게 이 명령을 전달하는 것이 자연스러웠을 것입니다. 그런데 여기에서 하나님께서 원하신 것은 수장인 모세가 직접 가서 제사장들에게 이 명령과 요구를 하는 것이었습니다.

이것은 주님께서 그분의 자녀에게 요구하시는 모든 것에 일관된 것입니다. 병들거나 손상된 소나 염소나 양이나 다른 아무 것도 제물로 하나님께 드려질 수 없다는 명령이 있습니다. 예배하는 자는 주님께 아주 최고의 것을 드려야 합니다.

그 어떤 차선도 먹히지 않을 것입니다. 하나님께서는 우리가 가진 아주 최고의 것을 받으실만하십니다. 등불을 밝히는 기름 같이 아주 사소한 것조차 최고의 것이어야 합니다. 등불의 질이 그다지 다르지 않을지라도 말입니다. 더 흥미로운 것은 주님께서는 성막 안의 등불을 밝히는 데에 사용되기를 원하시는 감람유와 관련하여 돈을 아끼는 것에 대해 그다지 염려하지 않으신다는 것입니다.

이 말씀에서 우리가 배울 수 있는 교훈은 무엇입니까? 이것은 아주 간단한 교훈입니다. 우리는 대부분의 사역단체와 교회와 회당이 염려하는 것과 정반대의 것을 염려해야 한다는 것입니다. 아덴 아레오바고에서 한 바울의 설교를 기억해 보십시오:

“우주와 그 가운데 있는 만물을 지으신 하나님께서는 천지의 주재시니 손으로 지은 전에 계시지 아니하시고 또 무엇이 부족한 것처럼 사람의 손으로 섬김을 받으시는 것이 아니니 이는 만민에게 생명과 호흡과 만물을 친히 주시는 이심이라.” - 사도행전 17:24,25

이 말씀은 “주께서 손으로 진은 전에 계시지 않으시기” 때문에 우리가 주님을 섬기는 섬김과 예배는 필연적이지 않다는 잘못된 결론에 이르게 하는데 이용될 수도 있습니다. 올바른 결론은 하나님께서는 우리가 아끼지 않은 것을 신경 쓰지 않으신다는 것이어야 할 것입니다. 그분께서는 우주를 만드시고 모든 생물에 생명을 주십니다. 그분께서는 우리의 최선을 받으실만하시며, 성막(과 예루살렘 성전) 안의 빛을 밝히는 데에는 최고의 가장 순전한 감람유가 있어야 마땅합니다.

랍비들은 출애굽기 27:20-24 말씀에 관하여 미드라쉬를 가져와 그 의미를 확대하며, 그것을 다른 영역으로 가져갑니다. 이 랍비들에게는 성막과 성전 안의 빛은 그저 물리적인 빛이기만 한 것은 아니었습니다. 랍비들은 이 명령의 진지함과, 하나님께서 모세에게 직접 제사장들에게 가서 그들에게 이 요구를 하라고 명하신 이유를 이해하기 위해 다른 말씀들도 가져옵니다.

이사야 60:19,20과 연결됩니다:

“다시는 낮에 해가 네 빛이 되지 아니하며 달도 네게 빛을 비추지 않을 것이요 오직 여호와가 네게 영원한 빛이 되며 네 하나님이 네 영광이 되리니 다시는 네 해가 지지 아니하며 네 달이 물러가지 아니할 것은 여호와가 네 영원한 빛이 되고 네 슬픔의 날이 끝날 것임이라.” - 이사야 60:19,20

랍비들이 연결시킨 것은 빛의 참된 계시이신 하나님께서 친히 역사 가운데 우리의 영원한 빛이 되실 날이 올 것이라는 것입니다. 이사야에 의하면, 하나님께서는 영원한 빛이십니다. 그러므로 성전과 회막 안의 등대는 역사상 모든 충성된 자들에게 유산이기에, 이것은 성막 안에서의 봉사를 위한 빛을 나타낼 뿐만 아니라, 거룩한 빛 그분 자신을 나타내는 것이기도 합니다.

이사야 60장은 이 테마로 시작합니다:

“일어나라 빛을 발하라 이는 네 빛이 이르렀고 여호와의 영광이 네 위에 임하였음이니라.” - 이사야 60:1

미드라쉬에서 랍비들은 하나님께 이런 질문을 합니다: “주님 당신은 세상의 빛이십니다, 그럼 왜 저희에게 기름으로 등불을 밝히라고 하십니까? 주님의 빛에서 우리는 빛을 볼 것입니다.” 랍비 마이어는 말했습니다: 주님께서 말씀하시기를 아론의 아들들이 성막에서 밝히는 빛은 내게 하늘에 걸린 빛들보다 더 귀하다고 하셨다. 이는 주님께서 “주께서는 너희의 영원한 빛이 될 것이다.” 말씀하셨기 때문이다.

“그가 이르시되 네가 나의 종이 되어 야곱의 지파들을 일으키며 이스라엘 중에 보전된 자를 돌아오게 할 것은 매우 쉬운 일이라 내가 또 너를 이방의 빛으로 삼아 나의 구원을 베풀어서 땅 끝까지 이르게 하리라.” - 이사야 49:6

“나라들은 네 빛으로, 왕들은 비치는 네 광명으로 나아오리라.” - 이사야 60:3

“너희는 세상의 빛이라 산 위에 있는 동네가 숨겨지지 못할 것이요.” - 마태복음 5:14

“예수께서 또 말씀하여 이르시되 나는 세상의 빛이니 나를 따르는 자는 어둠에 다니지 아니하고 생명의 빛을 얻으리라.” - 요한복음 8:12

“내가 세상에 있는 동안에는 세상의 빛이로라.” - 요한복음 9:5

이제 여러분이 이 말씀들을 읽고 다시 출애굽기 27:20-24로 돌아가 읽으시면, 하나님께서 성막 안에 있는 메노라의 불을 밝히는 것을 어떻게 보시는지 이해하시게 될 것입니다.

주요 본문은 우리에게 하나님께서 바로, 지금은 우리 인류에게 감춰진, 영원한 빛이시라는 아주 특수한 확대된 개념을 줍니다. 그러나 그분께서 해와 달과 별들을 대신하실 날이 올 것이라는 개념은 실현될 감춰진 진리입니다.

하나님께서 모세에게 성전의 메노라를 밝히는 데에 가장 순전하고 가장 귀한 기름을 사용하라고 명하신 이유의 요약이자 설명입니다:

“그 안에 생명이 있었으니 이 생명은 사람들의 빛이라 빛이 어둠에 비치되 어둠이 깨닫지 못하더라.” - 요한복음 1:4,5

토라와 선지서와 신약성경은 모두 연결되어 있는데요, 이 말씀들은 한 분 성령님의 산물이기 때문입니다. 이 성경 말씀들의 주제와 비밀은 우리가 창세기부터 요한계시록 끝까지 서로 연결하여 이해하고 심도 있게 연결시키게 하기 위해 있습니다.

이것은 모두 연결되어 있고, 모두 같은 점 – 인류와 온 지구의 구속을 가리키고 있습니다. 예슈아께서는 영원한 빛이시며, 역시나 영원한 빛이신 아버지와 동등이십니다. 그리고 그분의 제자인 우리는 빛이 되라고 명령 받았고, 이스라엘 나라는 열방에 빛이 되라고 명령 받았습니다.

예슈아께서는 하나님의 영원한 빛을 가져다주시고 그것을 열방에 퍼뜨리신 이스라엘의 빛이십니다. 여러분이 하나님의 영원한 빛을 받으셨다면, 그 빛 가운데 살며 그 빛을 모든 사람과 나누십시오.

저는 전 세계 여러 곳의 다음의 형제자매님들을 위해 기도해 주시기를 부탁드려왔습니다. 코로나바이러스가 전 세계로 번져 세계적인 유행병이 되고 있는 요즈음, 전 세계와 이 치명적인 바이러스에 감염된 저 수천 명의 모든 이들을 위해 기도하는 것은 우리 의무입니다.

이 바이러스의 문제는 이것이 새롭고, 의료계가 아직 어떻게 번지는 것을 모르고, 이 코로나바이러스에 대한 특정 백신이 없다는 것입니다. 모르는 것에서 오는 두려움이 전 세계적으로 역사하고 있고, 이스라엘과 이탈리아 같은 나라들과 다른 나라들이 이 코로나바이러스를 막거나 억제하기 위해 취하는 조치들은 전례가 없습니다.

이스라엘은 모든 외국인들에게 문을 닫았고 요즈음 이스라엘로 오려고 하는 이들은 다니도록 허락을 받기까지 14일 동안 격리되어야 합니다. 모든 나라들을 위해 기도해 주시되, 특별히 중국과 이탈리아와, 코로나바이러스에 감염된 60개국 이상의 모든 나라들을 위해 기도해 주십시오.

중국과 그 외 세계를 위해서 기도해 주시기 바랍니다. 지금 코로나바이러스가 15개국 이상의 나라에 퍼졌는데, 이들 나라 속에서 번지고 있는 것 같습니다. 이스라엘도 이런 나라 중 하나이지만, 이스라엘 안에서 봉쇄되었습니다.

우한과 후베이성에서는 수가 감소하고 있는 것 같으니, 주님을 찬양 합니다. 미국 질병관리센터는 이미 이 코로나바이러스가 세계적 전염병이라고 선포했습니다. 이것이 이전의 전염병만큼 나쁘지 않을지 모르지만, 그래도 우리는 기도하여 주님께서 우리의 세계에 대해 그분의 분노와 진노보다 자비를 베풀어주시어 이 바이러스와 다른 바이러스의 변종을 막아주시도록 구해야 합니다.

세계가 이스라엘의 주 하나님, 만물의 아버지께서 이 세상을 너무 사랑하시어 아무도 멸망치 않고 모두 영생을 얻도록 그분의 독생자를 주셨음을 알게 하소서.

우리는 여러 가지 건강 문제로 고생하고 있는 다음 형제자매님들을 위해 기도해오고 있습니다.

우리 이사회 이사인 지미는 집에 있고 날마다 점점 더 강건해지고 있습니다. 우리는 여러분께 지미를 위해 기도해 주신 것에 감사드리고, 지미의 완전한 회복을 위해 계속 기도해주시기를 부탁드립니다.

이번 주에 끔찍한 토네이도 폭풍을 겪은 미국 테네시주 중부에 있는 가족들을 위해 기도해 주십시오. 이들은 20명이 넘는데요, 지역사회가 토네이도로 초토화되었습니다.

이스라엘 나라를 위한 큰 기도 제목이 하나 더 있습니다. 저는 현대 민주주의 역사에 일 년도 안 되어 연거푸 세 번의 총선거를 치르는 나라나 국가는 한 번도 없었다고 믿습니다.

이스라엘 사람들은 3월 2일에 있었던 이 세 번째 선거 이후에 더더욱 하나님의 도움이 필요합니다. 양대 정당은 거의 동수의 득표와 의석수를 얻었습니다. 각자 차기 정부를 구성할 자격이 있다고 주장하고 있습니다. 정치인들은 추잡하게 굴며 위협하며 언론을 통해 진흙탕 싸움을 하고 있습니다.

저는 이스라엘의 점잖은 사람이라면 그 누구도 이 상황을 달가워하지 않을 것이라고 믿습니다. 이는 마치 이스라엘의 주 하나님께서 저희 정치인들에게 저희 나라에 대해 혼란과 어리석음의 영을 가져다주신 것 같습니다. 한 쪽이 분명하고 결정적인 승리를 얻어야 하는 필요성과 그 기도는 하나님께서 응답해 주시지 않으셨습니다. 더한 혼란과 정치인들의 더 더러운 선거유세와 선거 후 행동이 요즈음 이스라엘의 매일 양식입니다.

이스라엘을 위해서 저희의 모든 정당이 좀 제 정신을 차리고 무엇이 이 나라를 위해 참되고 정당하고 의로운지에 대한 예의가 있도록 기도해 주십시오. 주님, 저희 지도자들에게 지혜를 주시고 저희 정치인들에게 국민과 국토에 대한 진정한 사랑을 주십시오. 저희와 함께 이스라엘 나라와 이 지구상에서 유일한 유대국가를 위해 기도해 주시기 바랍니다.

저는 이스라엘 편에 서서 예루살렘을 위해 기도하시는 여러분 모두에게 주님의 최고의 축복과 그분께서 그분의 충성된 자녀에게 약속하신 모든 약속이 이루어지기를 바랍니다. 하나님의 말씀을 듣고 그분의 뜻을 행하는 사람들은 지혜로운 사람이라고 합니다! 그분의 말씀만 듣고 행하지 않는 사람들은 어리석은 자라고 합니다! 우리 모두는 지혜로운 사람이 되고 결코 어리석은 자가 되지 않도록 애씁시다! 최고의 것은 앞으로 올 것입니다!

The Jerusalem Prayer List

The reading this week is from Exodus 27:20 - 30:10. From the prophets the reading is very interesting. The Shabbat before Purim always the reading from the prophets is the same. The reading is from Deuteronomy 25:17-19 and 1 Samuel 15:1-34. The New Testament reading is from Hebrews 13:10-17.

The reason for this special Shabbat is that it is just before the feast of Purim, the Feast of Esther. The enemy of the Jewish people in the Persian (Iran) empire was the prime minister of Persia, Haman the Aggagite.

An Aggagite is a descendent Aggag, the King of Amalek, who King Saul didn’t kill (in disobedience to the Lord’s command). Samuel the prophet came to Saul, and because of his disobedience, King Saul lost his kingship. Now we are in the days of King Ahasuerus (also spelled Xerxes), King of Persia.

The main text for this reading from the prophets is actually the three verses from the book of Deuteronomy 25:17-19:

“Remember what Amalek did to you on the way as you were coming out of Egypt, how he met you on the way and attacked your rear ranks, all the stragglers at your rear, when you were tired and weary; and he did not fear God. Therefore it shall be, when the Lord your God has given you rest from your enemies all around, in the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance, that you will blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. You shall not forget.” - Deuteronomy 25:17-19 [NKJV]

The deep enmity against Amalek comes from their methods of warfare, their cruelty, and their origin:

“Now Timna was the concubine of Eliphaz, Esau’s son, and she bore Amalek to Eliphaz. These were the sons of Adah, Esau’s wife.” - Genesis 36:12 [NKJV]

The Torah portion has so many interesting things for us to learn, but I have chosen to deal with the first verses of the parasha:

“And you shall command the children of Israel that they bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to cause the lamp to burn continually. In the tabernacle of meeting, outside the veil which is before the Testimony, Aaron and his sons shall tend it from evening until morning before the Lord. It shall be a statute forever to their generations on behalf of the children of Israel.” - Exodus 27:20,21

The question that needs to be asked is why the Lord commanded Moses to command the children of Israel regarding the lighting of the lamp in the Tabernacle that was built in the wilderness. There are only two places in the whole Bible that there is such an emphatic command that Moses himself has to go to the priests and command them in regards to what kind of olive oil they need to use for the lighting of the candelabra with the seven candles.

God wanted Moses himself to go and command the priests about the lighting of the candelabra and the type of oil that they must use. Now the custom was to use cheaper olive oil for light in the candles.

Now God sends Moses to tell these priests that they must use, “extra virgin cold pressed, first pressing olive oil.” This is the most precious and expensive olive oil and for lighting. It is not really necessary to use this fine oil.

For this very reason God sends Moses himself to command the priests. For such a simple command it would have been natural for Moses to send one of his helpers to pass this command on to the priests. However, what God wanted here was for the chief himself, Moses, to go and make this command and demand from the priests.

This is consistent with all that the Lord demanded from His children. There is the command that a sick or damaged bull, goat, sheep or anything else cannot be offered to God as a sacrifice. The worshipper must offer his very best to the Lord.

No second-best would work. God deserves the very best that we have. Even a simple thing like the oil for the candelabra has to be the best. Even though the quality of the light would not differ much. What is more interesting is that the Lord didn’t worry much about saving money when it came to the olive oil that He wanted to be used for lighting the oil lamps in the Tabernacle.

What is the lesson that we can learn from this reading? It is a very simple lesson. We need to worry about exactly the opposite of what most ministries, churches, and synagogues worry about. Remember Paul’s sermon in Athens, Mars Hill:

“God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things.” - Acts 17:24,25 [NKJV]

A reading of this text could be used to come to the wrong conclusion, that our service to the Lord and worship is non-consequential because, “the Lord does not dwell in temples made with hands.” The right conclusion ought to be that God does care for us not to be stingy. He created the world and gives life to all living creatures. He deserves our best, and the light in the Tabernacle (and the Temple in Jerusalem) deserves to have the best and the purest olive oil.

The rabbis take the midrash on the text of Exodus 27:20-24 and expand the meaning, taking it to other regions. For the rabbis, the light in the Tabernacle and in the Temple was not only a physical light. The rabbis bring some other texts in order to understand the seriousness of this command, and the reason why God commands Moses himself to go to the priests and make this demand from them.

The connection is made with Isaiah 60:19,20:

“The sun shall no longer be your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; But the Lord will be to you an everlasting light, and your God your glory. Your sun shall no longer go down, nor shall your moon withdraw itself; For the Lord will be your everlasting light, and the days of your mourning shall be ended.” - Isaiah 60:19,20 [NKJV]

The connection made by the rabbis is that the day will come in history in which God Himself, the true revelation of light, will be our everlasting light. God is the everlasting light, according to Isaiah. And therefore, since the candelabra in the Temple and in the Tent of Meeting is an inheritance for all the faithful in history, therefore it represents not only light for the service in the Tabernacle, but it is a representation of the divine light Himself.

Chapter 60 of Isaiah starts with the same theme:

“Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.” - Isaiah 60:1 [NKJV]

The rabbis in the midrash ask this question from God: “You are the light of the world, so why do You ask us to light a candlelight with oil?” “From your light we will see light.” Rabbi Maier said: The Lord said that the lights that the sons of Aaron light in the Tabernacle are more precious to Me from the lights that I have hung in the heavens.” For the Lord has said “For the Lord will be your everlasting light.”

Let us look at the following texts that give us a new perspective both from the Old Testament and the New Testament on the need to light the eternal lights in the Tabernacle of Meeting in the wilderness and in the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem:

“I, the Lord, have called You in righteousness, and will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, as a light to the Gentiles.” - Isaiah 42:6 [NKJV]

“Indeed He says, ‘It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also give You as a light to the Gentiles, that You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth.’” - Isaiah 49:6 [NKJV]

“The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.” - Isaiah 60:3 [NKJV]

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” - Matthew 5:14 [NKJV]

“Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.” - John 8:12 [NKJV]

“As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” - John 9:5 [NKJV]

Now when you read these texts and then go back and read the text of Exodus 27:20-24, you begin to understand how God sees the lighting of the menorah that is inside the Tabernacle.

The main text gives us a very particular expansion of the concept that God Himself is the eternal light that right now is hidden from us humans. But the concept that the day will come when He replaces the sun, moon, and stars is a hidden truth that will become a reality.

Here is the summary and explanation of why God commanded Moses to use the purest and most precious oil for the lighting of the menorah in the Temple:

“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” - John 1:4,5 [NKJV]

The Torah and the prophets and the New Testament are all connected, because these texts are a product of the same Holy Spirit. And the topics and secrets of the scriptures are there for us to connect and understand, to make the deep connections from Genesis all the way to the end of Revelation.

It is all connected, and it is all pointing toward the same point – the redemption of humanity and the whole Earth. Yeshua is the eternal light, equal to the Father, who is also the eternal light, and we, His disciples, are commanded to be the light, and Israel as a nation is commanded to be the light for all the nations.

Yeshua is that light of Israel that has brought the divine eternal light and spread it to all the nations. If you have received the eternal light of God, live in the light and share that light with all.

I have asked you to pray for the following brothers and sisters around the world. These days, when the coronavirus is spreading around the world and becoming a pandemic, it is our duty to pray for the whole world and all those thousands of people who are infected with this deadly virus.

The problem with this virus is that it is new, and medical science does not know yet how it really spreads, and it does not have a specific vaccine for coronavirus. The fear from the unknown is working well around the world, and the measures that nations like Israel and Italy and others are taking to stop or curb the coronavirus are unprecedented.

Israel has closed entrance to all foreigners and those who want to come into Israel these days have to stay 14 days in quarantine before they are allowed to get about. Pray for all the nations, but especially for China and Italy, and all the more-than-60 countries that have been infected with coronavirus.

Please pray for China and the rest of the world. Now the coronavirus has spread to more than 15 countries and it seems to be spreading inside these countries. Israel is one of these countries, but it is contained in Israel.

In Wuhan and the province of Hubei it seems like the numbers are going down, praise the Lord. The CDC has already declared this coronavirus as a worldwide plague. It might not be as bad as previous plagues, but we still are obligated to pray and ask the Lord to have mercy above His anger and wrath for our world and bring a speedy end to the coronavirus, and stop the mutation of this virus and others.

Let the world learn that the Lord God of Israel, and the Father of all, loved the world so much that He gave us His only begotten Son so that no one would perish but all have everlasting life.

Jimmy, our board member, is at home and getting stronger and stronger by the day. We thank you for praying for Jimmy’s health, and ask you to please keep on praying for Jimmy’s full and total recovery.

Eli Levi, my nephew, is in Bulgaria. He had his brain surgery, and he too is at home and getting stronger by the day. Keep Eli in prayer.

I need your prayers. I have more tests to take in relationship to the prostate problem, and also more treatment in relationship to my left leg and the pain that started last summer and is still with me. I am doing physiotherapy and other tests for the leg, and medication, but the progress is very, very slow. Danah our daughter is still contending and praying for her job and life in the United States. Please lift Danah up and pray to the Lord for blessing on our daughter Danah. Nothing is conclusive yet with Danah’s situation. I ask you to pray for the Lord to bring the truth to light and reveal the false accusations in His light.

Pray for the families in Middle Tennessee who have experienced the terrible tornado storm this week. There are more than 20 people dead, and whole neighborhoods deleted by the tornados.

I add a dear friend, Mr. Shukrey Lawrence, who is suffering from cancer and needs our prayers for strength and healing. Shukrey also needs prayer for his sons to mobilize and take better charge of his business.

Nancy and Don Hook are back in Jerusalem and working. Praise the Lord for their recovery and return home. Rachel – Jingyung Lee is going through chemotherapy, Hannah Yoshida from Koyto is dealing with a serious cancer and needs your special prayers, Tiz H., Lion H. are two heroes who are on the way to full recovery, but please keep them in your prayers.

Ilana Avrahamov is also getting treatment and on the way to recovery. Pray for Michael Shiffman’s mother. Ruby L. from Oklahoma City is now living in an assisted living place, and still getting chemotherapy. Please keep her in your prayers.

Sister Angela from Taiwan is also going through chemotherapy treatments, and I ask to lift sister Angela and her family before the throne of grace and healing.

There is one more major prayer request for the State of Israel. I believe that in the history of modern democracies there has never been a country or a state that has had three major national elections, one after the other, in a period of less than one year.

The people of Israel need God’s help even more after this third election that took place on March 2nd. The two major parties have about the same number of votes and seats in the parliament. Each is claiming to be entitled to create the next government. The politicians are being nasty and threatening and having a mud battle through the media.

I don’t believe that any decent person in Israel is happy with the situation. It looks like the Lord God of Israel has brought our politicians a spirit of confusion and dumbness on our nation. The need and prayer for one side to have a clear and decisive victory didn’t get answered by God. More confusion and more dirty campaign and post campaign behavior of our politicians is Israel’s daily bread these days.

Please pray for Israel and for all our political parties to get some sense and decorum of what is true and just and righteous for this nation. Lord please give wisdom to our leaders and give true love for the people and the land to our politicians. Please pray with us for Israel as a nation and the only Jewish state on the face of this world.

I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish! The best is yet to come!
