정부는 연로한 분들은 집에 머물러달라고 촉구합니다. 그들이 식료품 쇼핑을 좀 해야 할 경우에는 이런 서비스를 무료로 해주는 자원봉사 단체들이 있습니다. 마르시아는 집에 머물며 전혀 밖으로 나가지 않습니다. 저만 의료 문제와 식료품 쇼핑을 위해 집 밖으로 나갑니다.

이스라엘과 여러분 각자의 나라와 전 세계를 위해 기도해 주십시오. 전능하신 주님께서 지구에서 이 전염병을 박멸해 주시고, 중국과 아시아 전역과 미대륙과 전 세계에 흩어져 있는 우리 형제자매님들을 지켜주시도록 기도해 주십시오. 코로나바이러스에 있는 잠재력은 여러 나라의 경제를 파괴하고 모든 나라들을 마비시킬 수도 있다는 것입니다.
이탈리아는 지금 완전히 마비가 되어 온 나라가 격리에 들어갔습니다. 사람들은 한 지역에서 다른 지역으로 여행할 수가 없습니다. 이탈리아 정부는 바이러스를 봉쇄하고자 하는데, 사람들이 이리저리 여행하며 바이러스를 퍼뜨리면 아주 어렵습니다.

by Joseph Shulam The world is involved with the coronavirus and Israel is in the middle of it. The number of people infected with coronavirus is increasing exponentially. In the last few days, from 200 to over 400 people have been infected with coronavirus. Older people are instructed not to leave their homes. I had to leave home today to get a CTU test. I have waited for a month to get the CTU test for my kidneys and urinary track. So, I had to go out today. The whole country is in panic. The HaMotzi food program of Netivyah is not stopping. The young leaders, Yehudah, Daniel, Nir, and Nancy are there today distributing the food for 175 families, who depend on the gifts of love that Netivyah, and you, who support this program, that is such a big blessing to around 1000 people in the city of Jerusalem. The wonderful thing is that the young leaders of Netivyah who have little children at home are not giving up on this good work of feeding the poor of Jerusalem. The instruction of the Israeli prime minister Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu is to stay home. All the restaurants, coffee shops, movie houses, theaters, and places of entertainment are closed. Bus and public transportation is cut to minimum, and it all stopes at 8:00 PM, and does not resume until 5:00 AM. The buses and trains only take a limited number of passengers because they don’t want to be overcrowded. They want to have 6-foot distance between each passenger. So, the whole country is in a major slowdown. There are thousands of people without jobs, because the airlines and other industries are not working. The airport staff is cut in half and the workers are sent home on leave without pay. Coronavirus is taking the form of a real worldwide plague. China, where this plague started, is now well on the way to recovery. So are South Korea and Singapore. The prediction of the authorities in Israel today is that thousands of people will die from this coronavirus in Israel. They say that tens of thousands will catch the virus. The people who are most vulnerable are people over 70 years old and with pre-existing medical conditions. This is especially dangerous for both Marcia and myself, and the other older people in our congregation. We have several who are pushing 90 years old. We need your prayers and your intercession for all of Israel and for the world. The Lord God of Israel and Yeshua are the authority and Savior for all mankind. For this reason, we the disciples of Yeshua must have a worldwide perspective and pray for God’s children around the world. I suggest that everyone who reads this prayer list to take five minutes to pray in this order, from inside out: 1. Pray for yourself and your family.
2. Pray for your city.
3. Pray for your country.
4. Pray for the nations who are your enemies.
5. Pray for the nations who are your friends.
6. Pray for the unbelievers and idolaters to see the hand of God moving in history.
7. Pray for the healing of the sick and the stopping of the coronavirus.
8. Pray for those in darkness to see the great light of Yeshua, the Light of the World.
9. Pray for your brothers and sisters in the faith to have an intimate relationship with God by the study and reading of His Word.
10. Pray for the salvation of the Jewish people and the return our Lord to Zion! The reading of the Torah this Shabbat is a double portion, called Vayakhel-Pekudei (Exodus 35:1 – 40:38). This Shabbat we finish reading the book of Exodus. In addition, it is the end of the month of Adar and the beginning of the month of Nisan. The second reading for the new month is from Exodus 12:1-20. From the prophets the reading is from 1 Kings 7:13-28,40 – 8:21. From the New Testament we read 2 Corinthians 9:6-11, 3:7-19. As you can see this next Shabbat the reading is a double portion, and that is why we have a double portion from the prophets and from the New Testament. Earlier the Torah dealt with the 10% that all Israelites had to contribute to the Levites and the Kohanim (priests). Then the gifts for the building of the Tabernacle. Now Moses turns to an extra contribution, a freewill offering. This is not a tithe that was obligatory for all of Israel. This occasion is very different. This is what God commands Moses and Israel: “Then Moses gathered all the congregation of the children of Israel together, and said to them, ‘These are the words which the Lord has commanded you to do: Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh day shall be a holy day for you, a Sabbath of rest to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. You shall kindle no fire throughout your dwellings on the Sabbath day.’ And Moses spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, ‘This is the thing which the Lord commanded, saying: “Take from among you an offering to the Lord. Whoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it as an offering to the Lord: gold, silver, and bronze; blue, purple, and scarlet thread, fine linen, and goats’ hair; ram skins dyed red, badger skins, and acacia wood…”’” – Exodus 35:1-7 [NKJV] What can we learn from this text of Exodus 35? There is an obligation that is equal for every member of the Israelite nation. The obligation is like modern income tax in most nations. Everyone has to give an equal portion of his income, 10%. It is a proportional sum of money that everyone has to give. The amount that everyone would give is a relative amount to a person’s income. Now God does not define the amount in percent of a person’s income. Now it is a request for the people of Israel to give a freewill offering, as they have purposed in their hearts. The first thing that God commands that is based on the desire of a person’s heart. The question that comes up here is, what is more valuable for the construction of the Tabernacle in the wilderness? The 10% that was commanded for all of Israel to give to the priests and the Levites, the contributions that were commanded to be given for the construction of the Tabernacle, or this freewill offering that comes from the heart’s desire of each person, without a set amount or percentage? I suggest to you for the Lord what was most significant was the offering that was free, where no amount or percentage was assigned. The first command to give the 10th percentage was uniform and relative to each person. A set 10% from the crops and income of each person. In the second case, the contribution for the building was specified in different kinds of materials. The half-shekel was for the counting of the number of Israel’s population. Also stressing the equality between each soul in Israel. Now we have a contribution that is individual, and from the desire of our hearts. The text says, “Whoever is of a willing heart.” The materials are also suggested but not limited. In the New Testament, this kind of giving is the only kind commanded. The 10% in the New Testament, like in the Old Testament, was only mentioned for the Temple in Jerusalem. The giving in the New Testament is only associated with giving for the “poor saints in Jerusalem”. There is no mention of giving to the church 10%. The apostle Paul says the following things about giving and receiving contributions from brothers in the diaspora: “Now about the collection for the Lord’s people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do. On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made. Then, when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the men you approve and send them with your gift to Jerusalem.” – 1 Corinthians 16:1-3 [NIV] “For Macedonia and Achaia were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the Lord’s people in Jerusalem. They were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in the Jews’ spiritual blessings, they owe it to the Jews to share with them their material blessings.” – Romans 15:26,27 [NIV] “There is no need for me to write to you about this service to the Lord’s people. For I know your eagerness to help, and I have been boasting about it to the Macedonians, telling them that since last year you in Achaia were ready to give; and your enthusiasm has stirred most of them to action. But I am sending the brothers in order that our boasting about you in this matter should not prove hollow, but that you may be ready, as I said you would be. For if any Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we—not to say anything about you—would be ashamed of having been so confident. So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to visit you in advance and finish the arrangements for the generous gift you had promised. Then it will be ready as a generous gift, not as one grudgingly given. Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written: ’They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.’ Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.” – 2 Corinthians 9:1-12 [NIV] This text in 2 Corinthians 9 reveals Paul’s method of raising funds for the saints in Jerusalem. Paul used true psychology as his method. To the Romans he wrote “Achaia” was pleased to make a contribution for the poor saints of Jerusalem. Paul is motivating the people of Corinth to give by provoking the brothers and giving them an opportunity to sow seeds in the blessing of the poor brothers in Jerusalem. Notice that there is no 10% mentioned. There is no amount mentioned. There is only the need mentioned and the blessing of blessing the brothers in Jerusalem. The question is, how do we receive and interpret what was commanded to the brothers by the apostle Paul? And what example do we have in the scriptures, both in the Old and New Testament? We have obligations by the Torah to sustain the priests and the Levites in their service to God and for the people. In the New Testament we see only the pattern of the freewill giving, without a specification of amount. The only thing specified is that the giving ought to be purposed and pre-organized for the giving. The children of Israel responded in this case above and beyond the needs, and they had to be asked to stop. They gave all that is needed, and when it was enough they were asked to stop. It is so much more noble to give for a good cause from your free will and your heart’s desire. This kind of giving is what pleases the Lord most. I am asking you to continue praying for the whole world, but especially for Italy and China, South Korea, and Israel. The number of those infected with this virus is increasing everywhere, and Israel is not an exception. The hospitals are full, and the Dan Hotel chain has turned the Dan Panorama in Tel-Aviv and the Dan and Dan Boutique in Jerusalem into temporary housing for those infected with coronavirus.
Now there are at least 60 countries who have the coronavirus spreading in their midst. This is not only a danger to people, it is a danger to industry, stock markets, the economy, airlines, even a danger to governments. In Israel the number of the unemployed is approaching half a million. The number of the sick has been growing exponentially every day. The number of the people who are quarantined in Israel is approaching 150,000.
There are more than 2000 doctors and nurses and hospital staff that have been infected with the coronavirus. The government is scrambling to find the medical equipment to take care of people with breathing difficulties in sufficient quantity to supply all the needs.
The elderly are urged by the government to stay home. If they need some to do their shopping for food for them, there are organizations that volunteer to provide this service and it is for free. Marcia is staying home and not going out at all. I only go out of the house for medical reasons and food shopping.
The news said that there is an expectation that many thousands of people in all of Israel will be infected with this violent virus, and will either die or be dismissed from their jobs. The tourist industry is totally paralyzed and many hotels are closing for now.
Pray for Israel, and for your own country, and for the world. Pray that the Lord Almighty will eradicate this plague from the Earth, and protect our brothers and sisters from China, through Asia, the Americas, and around the whole Earth. The potential in the coronavirus is there to destroy the economies of nations, and also to paralyze whole nations.
Italy now is totally paralyzed, and the whole country is in quarantine. People can’t travel from one region to the next. The government wants to contain the virus and it is very difficult when people travel around and spread the virus.
I need your prayers for my health. I am still doing medical tests and hope that by the end of March this year I will have a proper diagnosis and the treatment will be decided.
I thank God every day for His goodness and mercy, and trust Him to restore my health so that I can continue to teach His Word to our brothers and sisters from Israel, to Finland, the USA, Brazil, Bulgaria, Hong Kong, China, Korea, Singapore, Philippines, and next year in India, and beyond.
I need your prayers and Marcia needs your prayers. Danah our daughter needs much prayer for her situation, and so does our granddaughter Noaam. She is a wonderful young lady with many gifts, and challenges in life. Please lift Danah and Noaam in your prayers.
Please keep praying for Middle Tennessee. The tornados that swept through Middle Tennessee have made some serious damage to private homes, schools, churches, and industry. People of that region need our prayers. We have so many precious brothers and sisters in that region and we can at least share the burdens by prayer and intercession before the mercy seat of the Almighty Himself.
Keep Michelle Oliveira in your prayers. She is the young lady from Brazil who came to study Hebrew in the University. This was on her bucket list. She came here after a diagnosis that she has Leukemia. When she arrived in Israel she also had a kidney stone problem, but she stayed on course and took a Hebrew course in Jerusalem, and now she has returned to Brazil on the last direct flight from Tel-Aviv to Sao Paulo. Keep Michelle Oliveira in your prayers.
Our good friend Mr. Shukrey Lawrence is suffering from cancer and needs our prayers for strength and healing.
Keep Rachel-Jingyung Lee in your prayer. She is going through chemotherapy. The same is true for dear sister Hannah Yoshida from Kyoto, who is dealing with a serious cancer. Please pray for this sister. Keep praying for Tiz H. and Lion H., who are two heroes. Please keep praying for Ilana Pinto, Michael Shiffman’s mother. Ruby L. from Oklahoma City is struggling with cancer already for a long season. Please pray for healing and remission for these brothers and sisters and don’t forget to pray for Marcia and I, and for Angela from Taiwan, who is also going through recovery from cancer.

There is one more major prayer request for the State of Israel. The election took place. Nothing has changed for the good in this election. Our politicians are not uniting to form a movement. These were the third elections in a period of 12 months.
We are still in a transition government with limited authority. I believe that this situation is a curse on this nation. It is a wakeup call for the whole nation, and especially for all of our politicians who essentially say: “If I can’t have it all no one will have it. Let us go for a fourth round of elections.” The enmity and hate that is buzzing out of their mouths against the other side is so serious that I pray that God will not lose his patience with us as a nation.
I don’t believe that God will abandon us, but I do believe that we, and you, and every friend that Israel has in the world, must pray for this nation to wake up and see the enemies of Israel rejoicing at the sorry condition of our politicians. We don’t want to have a fourth round of elections in 2020. I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish!
