이 코로나바이러스의 출처가 뭔가는 사실 큰 문제가 아닙니다. 문제는 우리 예슈아의 제자들이 혼자서 그리고 우리 공동체에서 금식기도하며, 주님께 우리가 살고 있는 이 세상에 긍휼을 베풀어주시기를 간구해야 한다는 것입니다. 아마 우리 대부분은 우리가 알 수도 있는 죄 혹은 우리가 범했는지 알지 못할 수도 있는 죄를 회개해야 할 것입니다.
형제자매님들, 회개하는 것이 맞습니다. 이런 전염병은 성경적 규모이며 가혹한 것입니다. 우리는 세계 경제의 빠른 회복을 위해서도 기도해야 합니다. 우리는 우리 지도자들과 전 세계 의료계를 위해 지혜를 구하며 기도해야 합니다. 우리는 해결책, 이 코로나바이러스가 계속 하나님의 세상에서 죽은 자들과 병든 자들을 거둬들이는 것을 멈추게 할 백신을 빨리 찾아내도록 기도해야 합니다.
이스라엘과 여러분 각자의 나라와 전 세계를 위해 기도해 주십시오. 전능하신 주님께서 지구에서 이 전염병을 박멸해 주시고, 중국과 아시아 전역과 미대륙과 전 세계에 흩어져 있는 우리 형제자매님들을 지켜주시도록 기도해 주십시오. 코로나바이러스에 있는 잠재력은 여러 나라의 경제를 파괴하고 여러 나라들을 마비시킬 수도 있다는 것입니다.
이탈리아는 지금 완전히 마비가 되어 온 나라가 격리에 들어갔습니다. 사람들은 한 지역에서 다른 지역으로 여행할 수가 없습니다. 이탈리아 정부는 바이러스를 봉쇄하고자 하는데, 사람들이 이리저리 여행하며 바이러스를 퍼뜨리면 아주 어렵습니다.

저는 마운트 스코푸스에 있는 하닷사병원의 비뇨기과 교수의 진료를 받을 약속이 있었으나, 정부에서 활동을 거주지에서 100미터 이내로 제한하는 새로운 시행령을 발령했기 때문에 그 약속을 취소해야만 했습니다. 중국 후베이성 우한에서 그랬던 것 같았습니다. 지금 중국 정부는 중국과 우한에서의 격리를 완화하고 있습니다.
이스라엘에서는 정부가 격리를 더욱 엄중하게 하고 있습니다. 이탈리아와 프랑스에서는 사망자 수가 이미 수천 명에 이르렀습니다. 이스라엘은 3,000명의 이스라엘 젊은이들을 긴급 수송하여 데려오기 위해 페루로 비행기들을 보냈습니다. 비행 비용은 의연금으로 자금 조달되었고 1회 비행은 이스라엘 정부가 삯을 지불했습니다. 세계의 다른 나라 중에 자국민을 위해 이런 서비스를 하는 정부는 없습니다.
이탈리아에서도 스페인에서도 인도와 태국에서도 똑같이 데려왔고 다음은 폴란드입니다. 예슈아의 제자들인 우리 모두는 이스라엘 편에 서서, 코로나바이러스의 결과로 전 세계적으로 오도가도 못 하게 된 자국민을 위해 제공하는 이런 보살핌을 후원해야 할 것입니다.

netivyah.org ======================================================= The Jerusalem Prayer List March 26, 2020 by Joseph Shulam We are beginning the readings this Shabbat from the book of Leviticus. The book of Leviticus is the name given by the church. As you know, in the Hebrew Bible the books don’t have names. They are identified by the first significant word in the book. Therefore, Genesis is in Hebrew “Bereshit”, which in English ought to be translated “in the beginning.” The word Genesis is from the Latin tradition of the Catholic Church, just as are the names of all the books of the Bible. Numbers in Hebrew is “Bamidbar” (“in the wilderness”), Deuteronomy in Hebrew is “Devarim” (“words”)… The first chapters of the book of Leviticus are called in Jewish tradition “Torat Hakohanim” (“The Law of the Priests”). It is all the procedures related to the sacrificial covenant. Sacrifices are an essential part of every ancient religion in all the seven continents of our globe. From the most primitive tribes to the most advanced cultures, since the dawn of pre-history and history, sacrificing is a major part of worship and devotion to the gods. Maimonides does not deny that animal sacrifices are part of the halakha; having devoted an entire section to them in his Mishneh Torah – to say nothing of the fact that they are spelled out in the Written Law – how could he? He explains God’s rationale as a concession to the psychological needs of a primitive people just emerging from idolatry. He cites the written law, as well as the prophets, to make the point that even in biblical days, animal sacrifice was at best a second-rate sort of mitzvah. “In addition to the teaching of truths, the Law aims at the removal of injustice from mankind. We have thus proved that the first laws do not refer to burnt-offerings and sacrifices, which are of secondary importance.” – Maimonides, “The Guide for the Perplexed” In the New Testament we have a kind of ambivalence related to the animal sacrifices. Social justice and righteousness are more important than the sacrificial cult in the Temple. Yeshua gave us the following lesson on this issue in The Sermon on the Mount. “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.” – Matthew 5:23-24 [NIV] This shows Yeshua’s clear emphasis on man-to-man sins as being of number one importance, not atoned for by the sacrificial system. And it is up to the individual him or herself to resolve his or her debt to his or her brother and only than can sacrifice and worship of God be put in its proper place. The second instance in the New Testament that seems to indicate that there are greater sacrifices than the Temple sacrifices, is the sacrifice of “self” for the sake of others, even strangers. There is a third example in the New Testament of what takes the highest place in the order of the sacrificial system. That is the sacrifice of one’s self for a higher cause. Here are some examples of self-sacrifice from the Tanakh: “Now it came to pass on the next day that Moses said to the people, ‘You have committed a great sin. So now I will go up to the Lord; perhaps I can make atonement for your sin.’ Then Moses returned to the Lord and said, ‘Oh, these people have committed a great sin, and have made for themselves a god of gold! Yet now, if You will forgive their sin—but if not, I pray, blot me out of Your book which You have written.’” – Exodus 32:30-32 [NKJV] Moses and Paul (Romans 9:1-4) were both willing to give up their salvation for the sake of the nation of Israel. They were willing to damn themselves (Anathemas) for the salvation of the people of Israel. The Apostle Paul commands us all to offer ourselves, our bodies, as a living sacrifice in the service of our Lord (Romans 12:1-3). Today nowhere in the world do the Jewish people have a temple that has real “Kohanim” (priests) offering animal sacrifices. There are synagogues called temples in the West – but they are only reform American cultural temples of liberal Jews. So, whatever we know about the Kohanim and the sacrifice of bulls, goats, sheep, and even birds, we have learned from the Book of Leviticus. Therefore, the command of the Apostle Paul to offer our bodies, our beings, as a living sacrifice must be fleshed out into smaller increments and practical bites. The first thing we need to know about all sacrifices – is that they are essentially painful, and costly, and require labor and sometimes hard work. Let us start with the most difficult aspect of sacrifice in the Bible. A sacrifice that is sick or damaged cannot be offered to God. The Lord demands a perfect, healthy, specimen that is figuratively mortgage-free, not somebody else’s property. It must be your personal possession. If it is an animal the sacrifice must be healthy, but if it is not an animal – if it is me, or mine, it must be offered freely and with joy. Sacrificing our own bodies means first and foremost our physical bodies, that involves our head, hands, and if necessary, our legs, as well as our time and money. It is nobody’s business what I do or how I might go about performing my sacrifice to the Lord. There is no set measure to our sacrifices, and it is all relative to who we are and what we know and what we have and how much we love the Lord and His Kingdom and His children. This principle is of great importance because following the command of the Apostle Paul without working it out so as to make it relevant in the real world and in practice will not result in any personal gain. So, please, let me take some of the priestly practices as regards the offering of sacrifices in accordance with the Book of Leviticus and bring them up to date so as to make them relevant in our times. The classic story in the New Testament that deals with one of the main principles of sacrificing to the Lord is the story in the Book of Acts of Hananiah and Shifra. So, today we don’t have a temple in Jerusalem or anywhere else, and the churches are not temples, all they are is a place for the saints to gather and study, worship, and serve the community, just like any of the world’s synagogues. The only thing that is holy inside the synagogue is the Torah Scroll and the people who worship God and serve the community. The New Testament Church was people not buildings. The first so called “Church Building” was created (not built) in the second quarter of the 4th Century BC, in Asia Minor during Constantine’s time. So, you might ask, just where did the Saints worship? That’s a good question. Let’s look at the New Testament and see if we can discern where the Saints met to fellowship and worship. “‘They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service.’” – John 16:2 [NKJV] This text is one of the very few passages in all the four Gospels that are relevant to our question. We see that the disciples of Yeshua worshiped in the synagogues and we have more than one scripture that tells us that Yeshua Himself was going to the synagogues and even teaching in all the synagogues of the Galilee. (Note the following texts: Matthew 4:23, 9:35, 12:9, 13:54, Mark 1:21-23, 1:39, 3:1, — I could go on to the gospels of Luke and John. The list would be long.) To summarize this point there is one more text from Mark 6:2: “And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, ‘Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands!’” – Mark 6:2 [NKJV] If I continued through the Book of Acts and the letters you would see that the place most often mentioned as the place where the disciples of Yeshua went to worship was the synagogue. The other places that are mentioned in the Book of Acts and in the letters of Paul, Peter, James, John, are by the river (where Paul met Lydia on the Sabbath day). They had no synagogue, so they went a short way out of town to worship. Another place that is mentioned more than one time as a place of meeting for the disciples of Yeshua to worship was their homes: Acts 2:42, 12:12, 18:7, 21:8, 16. In all these texts the disciples of Yeshua from all around the Mediterranean Sea were meeting in people’s homes. They had no church buildings. My point, dear brothers, is that our sacrificial service to the Lord is much more than just investing in buildings. Buildings are not the church, the Saints that use the buildings or the city parks or the picnic grounds by the river outside of town are not the church, only the people are the church — those who are a living sacrifice to the Lord. I realize that for many of us this section is calling for a change of paradigm, and it is not easy after 1800 years of “Christian” history to erase the “hard drive” and reset our minds and thinking to conform to a more biblical view. Please note one thing from the texts above. Yeshua was a rabbi who was accepted in the synagogues of the Galilee, and even in Jerusalem and around Jerusalem, as being a great Teacher of the Torah and prophets. He was not always rejected by the Jewish people, and neither were His disciples in Israel or in the Diaspora. Paul was accepted as a rabbi and given the opportunity to teach in many synagogues in Greece and in what is today Turkey.
The coronavirus is a real plague, a pandemic, a worldwide plague, that has now spread to more than 140 countries across the entire Earth. There are already more than 20,000 deaths around the world, and we haven’t heard much news from Africa, and Central and South America. There are many who think that they have proof that this virus is so sophisticated and complex that is must have been engineered by humans for the purpose of biological warfare.
It really does not much matter what the source of this coronavirus is. What matters is that we, the disciples of Yeshua must fast and pray alone and in our communities and beg the Lord for mercy on our world. Probably most of us need to repent of some sins that we might be aware of or sins that we are not even aware that we have committed.
Repentance is in order, dear brothers and sisters. Plagues like this are of Biblical size and severity. We must also pray for a quick recovery of the world economy. We must pray for wisdom for our leaders and for the medical community around the world. We must pray for a quick discovery of a solution, a vaccine to stop the coronavirus from continuing to reap death and illness on God’s World.
Pray for Israel and for your own country and for the world. Pray that the Lord Almighty will eradicate this plague from the earth and protect our brothers and sisters in China, and throughout Asia, the Americas, and around the whole Earth. The coronavirus has the potential to destroy the economies of nations, and also to paralyze industry in nations.
Italy now is totally paralyzed and the whole country is in quarantine. People can’t travel from one region to the next. The government wants to contain the virus and it is very difficult when people travel around and spread the virus.
Now the coronavirus has spread to more than 120 countries and it seems to be spreading inside these countries. Israel has the coronavirus and in the last week the numbers of people who have contracted the coronavirus has quadrupled and we already have 5 people dead. They are all older men and women and it is dangerous for people who have chronic illnesses.
I had an appointment to see a professor of urology at Hadassah hospital on Mt. Scopus but I had to call to cancel the appointment since the government has issued new rules restricting movement to within 100 meters of you place of residence. Like it was in China, in Wuhan and the province of Hubei. Now the Chinese government is easing the quarantine in China and in Wuhan.
In Israel the government is making the quarantine more stringent. In Italy and France, the number of dead is already in the thousands. Israel has sent airplanes to Peru to bail out 3000 young Israelis and bring them home. The flights were financed by donations and one flight was paid for by the Israeli government. There is no other government in the world that has done this kind of service for its citizens.
The same was done in Italy and Spain, and India, and Thailand, and next is Poland. As disciples of Yeshua we all ought to stand with Israel and support the care that it is providing for its citizens stranded all around the world in the wake of the coronavirus.
The CDC has already declared this coronavirus as a worldwide plague. Let the world learn that the Lord God of Israel, and the Father of all, who loves the world so much that He gave us His only begotten Son so that no one would perish, but all have everlasting life, will never leave us nor forsake us.

I need your prayers for my health. I am for sure not 100 percent well. However, I thank God daily for His goodness and mercy and am trusting Him to restore my health so that I can continue to teach His Word to our brothers and sisters from Israel, to Finland, the US, Brazil, Bulgaria, Hong Kong, China, Korea, Singapore, the Philippines, and next year in India, and beyond. I need your prayers and Marcia needs your prayers. Danah our daughter needs much prayer for her situation and so does our granddaughter Noaam. She is a wonderful young lady with many gifts, and challenges in life. Please lift Danah and Noaam in your prayers.
Please keep Michelle O. in your prayers. Michelle is a young lady who has been diagnosed with Leukemia, and who also suffers from kidney stones. She needs our prayers. We believe in a God who is above all Gods and who is able to heal and renew our bodies and our lives. It is a good deed to pray for brothers and sisters whom you don’t know personally and from whom you will receive no gain. This is the purest form of service for the Body of our Messiah. We are praying for her and ask you to join us by mentioning her name before the Lord and asking for healing and God’s mercy for this fine young lady.
Mr. Shukrey Lawrence, is suffering from cancer and needs our prayers for strength and healing. Shukery also needs prayer for his sons to mobilize and take better charge of his travel agency. He has served so many brothers and sisters for more than 40 years in organizing tour groups and special projects.
Nancy and Don Hook are back in Jerusalem and working. Praise the Lord for their recovery and return home, Rachel – Jingyung Lee is going through chemotherapy, Hannah Yoshida from Koyto is dealing with serious cancer and needs your special prayers. Tiz H. and Lion H. are two heroes who are on the way to a full recovery but please keep them in your prayers, Ilana Avrahamov is also receiving treatment and is on the way to recovery, Michael Shiffman’s mother, Ruby L. from Oklahoma City has been struggling with cancer for some time. Please pray for her healing and remission.
Sister Angela from Taiwan is also going through chemotherapy treatments and I ask you to lift sister Angela and her family before the throne of grace and healing. There is one more major prayer request for the State of Israel. The total mess that the Israeli government is in right now has never happened before. The chances for a unity government are becoming slimmer and slimmer from day to day. The two big political parties have lost their compass and can’t find a way to square the circle and form a government.
It is truly a sad time for the Israeli government and for politicians on all fronts and of all party lines. We need your prayers for Israel and also for your own countries. It seems like this coronavirus has driven the world into a tailspin that is hard to get out of. The enmity and hate that is buzzing out of the mouths of these politicians against the other side is so serious that I pray that God will not lose his patience with us as a nation.
Leadership problems were considered by the 8th century BC prophets as being a divine punishment. The rejection of the Lord’s authority and our depending on the power of men is something that just might be a divine punishment for our nation. I hope not and pray that it is not something that God has ordained for us.
I ask you to intercede for Israel and for the disciples of Yeshua in this land. We too must find ways to unite and to care for and work with each other, ignoring denominational lines and looking for a restoration of order and cooperation and the unity that is absolutely necessary in such a time as this. We can’t shine a light in the darkness without being a light within the body of the Messiah first.
Alone, our personal light is weak. If we unite our joint light will be as a million watt projector that will be seen over the whole land of Israel. This is my prayer for the body of the Messiah in Israel and around the world. I don’t believe that God will abandon us, but I do believe that we, and you and every friend that Israel has in the world must pray for this nation to wake up and see the enemies of Israel rejoicing at the sorry condition of our politicians. We don’t want to have a fourth round of elections in 2020.
The coronavirus is threatening the economy of the world with a great recession and depression. Some of our major supporters have already lowered the amount of their support. They have done this not only toward Netivyah, but for all the ministries that they are supporting, and they are many. I would like to first ask you to pray about your part in supporting Netivyah Bible Instruction Ministry. Second, I would like for you who stand with us in prayer and financially to do your very best to stay on board with us and communicate. We realize that times may be hard for several years, but we also realize that God has chosen and blessed you for such a time as this.
I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish!
