예루살렘 기도 목록 – 2021년 5월 27일

이번 안식일 토라 포션은 민수기 8:1~12:16입니다. 이 포션의 이름은 영어 구사자가 발음하기 좀 어려운 “베하알롯트카” (“너희가 등잔대를 준비할 때”)입니다. 선지서에서는 스가랴 2:14~4:7, 신약성경에서는 고린도전서 10:6-13을 읽을 것입니다.

(창세기 13:15와 모세오경에서 동일한 약속을 말하는 다른 20개 예를 보시기 바랍니다.) 저는 주후 1세기 말 이 소아시아 일곱 교회의 죄들 중 어떤 것들은 아직도 오늘날의 교회에 상당히 있다고 생각합니다. 제가 교회에 있다고 말할 때, 한두 개 교파를 의미하는 것이 아니라 전(全) 기독교회를 의미하는 것입니다. 저는 그 죄들을 다시 나열하지는 않을 것이지만, 지성이 있으신 형제자매님들은 앞서 요한계시록 2장과 3장에서 나열된 것으로부터 추론하실 수 있으실 것입니다. 그것만으로도 점들을 연결하기에 충분합니다. 제가 여러분을 도와드릴 수 있는 오직 한 가지는 처음 사랑을 버렸다는 에베소교회의 죄입니다. 저는 여러분께 교회의 처음 사랑이 이스라엘에 대한 사랑, 유대인 공동체와 사랑하는 관계로 나타났던 사랑이라고 제의합니다. 제 생각은 하나님의 처음 사랑 - 이스라엘에 근거한 것입니다. 예레미야 2장에서 하나님께서 말씀하신 바와 같이 이스라엘은 하나님의 처음 사랑입니다. 스가랴 2장과 고린도전서 10장에서 읽는 부분에서도 주님의 이스라엘과 유대 민족에 대한 관계와 기대가 나타나 있습니다: “만군의 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시되 영광을 위하여 나를 너희를 노략한 여러 나라로 보내셨나니 너희를 범하는 자는 그의 눈동자를 범하는 것이라 내가 손을 그들 위에 움직인즉 그들이 자기를 섬기던 자들에게 노략거리가 되리라 하셨나니 너희가 만군의 여호와께서 나를 보내신 줄 알리라 …” – 스가랴 2:8-10 고린도전서 10장에서도 그 관계가 나옵니다: “형제들아 나는 너희가 알지 못하기를 원하지 아니하노니 우리 조상들이 다 구름 아래에 있고 바다 가운데로 지나며 모세에게 속하여 다 구름과 바다에서 세례를 받고 다 같은 신령한 음식을 먹으며 다 같은 신령한 음료를 마셨으니 이는 그들을 따르는 신령한 반석으로부터 마셨으매 그 반석은 곧 그리스도시라 그러나 그들의 다수를 하나님이 기뻐하지 아니하셨으므로 그들이 광야에서 멸망을 받았느니라.” – 고린도전서 10:1-5 여러분도 아시다시피 이 본문에서 바울이 말하고 있는 것은 “다” 광야에 있었고 다 바다 가운데로 지나며 … 했다는 것입니다. 바울이 가르치고 있는 이 부분은 다시금 이스라엘이 광야 40년 시절을 지내며 나라로 빚어지던 시내광야의 맥락에 놓입니다. 그리스도의 몸의 하나 됨은 제 생각에 여러분이 세례받을 때 설교자가 어떤 말을 사용했는가나 여러분이 마짜(무교병)를 가지고 성만찬을 하는지 혹은 보통 빵을 가지고 성만찬을 하는지 … 같은 일부 사소한 문제에 대한 신학적 해석의 문제로 결정되지 않습니다. 하나 됨은 한두 교파의 생존이 아닌, 전 세계 그리스도의 몸의 성경적 믿음과 순종의 표현으로서 기독교의 생존에 핵심 문제입니다. 분파들과 이 분파들에 의해 생기는 적대감은 우리의 세계 선교에 있어 복음 선교와 효과를 체계적으로 약화시키는 것이라고 여겨집니다.
지난 몇 주 동안 이스라엘 상황은 극히 긴장된 상태입니다. 가자지구의 하마스와 다른 테러 조직이 이스라엘 민간인을 목표로 4,300발이 넘는 미사일을 발사했습니다. 1,000채가 넘는 이스라엘 민간 가옥이 400 파운드가 넘는 폭탄을 실어 나르는 로켓포에 의해 피해를 입었습니다.
최악인 것은 로드 시에서는 회당이 9개나 아랍인들에 의해 방화되었고, 100대가 넘는 유대인 소유의 자동차가 방화되었고, 3건의 린치 시도가 있었는데 그 중 한 건은 이 시의 유대인과 아랍인 모두에게서 사랑 받고 존경 받은 한 시민을 살해한 것입니다. 네, 그에 대한 보복으로 무고한 아랍인에 대한 유대인들의 린치 시도도 있었습니다. 이런 사회 붕괴는 기도 제목이며 이스라엘 국가의 유대인 및 아랍인 국민 모두에게 하나님께서 긍휼을 베풀어주시기를 간구해야할 진지한 기도와 중보와 간구의 제목이어야 합니다.
여러분이 이스라엘에서 아무 병원이나 약국에 가면 여러분이 만나는 의사는 이스라엘 국민인 아랍인, 즉 팔레스타인 사람일 가능성이 높습니다. 이스라엘에서 의학을 전공하고 뛰어나며 유대인과 동등하게 일하고 있는 많은 의사들이 아랍인들, 기독교인들, 드루즈인들이며, 모두 국민, 그냥 국민입니다. 이스라엘 국가의 유대인 및 아랍인 국민 사이에 좋은 평화로운 관계가 회복되도록 기도해 주십시오.

The Jerusalem Prayer List – May 27, 2021

The Torah reading for this Shabbat is from the book of Numbers 8:1 – 12:16. The name of this portion is a bit difficult for English speakers to pronounce, Beha’alotecha, “when you arrange the lamps”. From the prophets we will be reading from Zechariah 2:14 - 4:7, and from the New Testament we will be reading 1 Corinthians 10:6-13.
The lampstand in the Temple is today also the symbol of the State of Israel. However, for us as disciples of Yeshua who believe the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation, it is the lampstand that was first made in the wilderness of Sinai, and placed in the Tent of Meeting, the Tabernacle. In our reading this week we find a full description of the menorah (the candelabra). The book of Revelation starts with a description of the seven churches of Asia Minor as the seven branches of the menorah. The question is why are each of these seven churches of Asia Minor, problematic churches, each with some very-serious problem, described as a menorah of seven branches? The secret to understanding this picture of John’s revelation is found in our reading from Numbers: “Now this workmanship of the lampstand was hammered gold; from its shaft to its flowers, it was hammered work. According to the pattern which the Lord had shown Moses, so he made the lampstand.” – Numbers 8:4 [NKJV] You have a piece of gold that is hammered into the shape of seven candles. There is a center shaft with three branches on each side of the shaft. These branches are of different sizes, but they are all connected at the central shaft. The middle shaft that holds the branches has the central candle. The significance of this menorah (candelabra) in the book of Revelation is the following: each one of the seven churches in Asia Minor is different, and the problems are serious. Yes, they are all seven a part of the same menorah, they are all made from the same gold, and they are hammered into shape. The criticism of the revelation of John directed toward these churches is very serious, but they are nonetheless all still a part of the body of the Messiah. Here are some of the problems of these seven churches in Asia Minor: “You have left your first love…” “I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.” “You have those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality.” “Thus you also have those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.” “You allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.” “You are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.” There are some very serious sins and big problems and yet they are still a part of the same menorah, they are still candles that have light and give light in the dark pagan atmosphere of the Eastern portion of the Roman Empire. They are not cut off from the body of Christ, yes some are threatened that if they don’t change, their light will be put out, but in this condition they are still a part of the menorah they are still a part of the body of Christ. This is a very important message from the menorah of seven candles that is used here by the book of Revelation which speaks of these congregations as being a part of the same gold and the same united menorah of seven light-giving candles. There are so many divisions and even enmity between different denominations on much lesser problems than the seven churches of Asia Minor. The unity of the body of Christ is not compromised in these seven churches they are still a part of the same menorah, and they are still a part of the body of the Christ, made of the same gold and connected to the central shaft that holds all the seven candles together. The menorah of the Tabernacle built from the gold that the men and women of Israel contributed for the building of this Tabernacle and later the same menorah was in the Temple in Jerusalem that Solomon built in Jerusalem. It is a symbol of unity and a symbol of the light-giving collective of seven churches that were full of problems that are very serious and that threaten to put out their light, but are yet not expelled or cut off from the menorah, still a part of the same unity of seven churches. Let us learn, dear brothers and sisters, to deal with issues and to even discuss and argue and disagree on some things that are not central to our faith, and not sufficient to declare someone of some group as not being our brother or sister in the Lord. The menorah is until this very day, the symbol of the State of Israel, and signifies the unity of the Jewish nation. We have all kinds of Jews in Israel and throughout the world. We have Sephardic Jews, and Ashkenazi Jews, and Ethiopian Jews, and Asian Jews, and South American Jews, and Jews from the Arab countries that reflect a significant amount of Arab culture and lifestyle… this is why the menorah is still the symbol of theState of Israel and of the unity and unification of the Jews from the world who have returned to the land that God gave to Abraham and to His seed forever. (See Genesis 13:15 and another 20 examples of the same promise in the five books of Moses.) I think that some of the sins of these seven churches of Asia Minor at the end of the first century A.D. (C.E.), are still very much in existence in the church today. When I say in the church, I don’t mean one denomination or another, but the whole spectrum of the Christian churches. I am not going to list those sins again, but I believe that intelligent brothers and sisters can extrapolate from the list above taken from Revelation chapters 2 and 3 which is sufficient for them to connect the dots. The only one that I will help you with is the sin of the church of Ephesus who has left her first love. I propose to you that the first love of the Church was the love of Israel and was exhibited in their loving relationship with the Jewish community. My opinion is based on God’s first love – Israel is God’s first fruit, as He has stated in Jeremiah chapter 2. The readings from Zechariah chapter 2 and from 1 Corinthians chapter 10 also have to do with the Lord’s relationship and expectations for Israel and for the Jewish nation: “For thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye. For surely, I will shake My hand against them, and they shall become spoil for their servants. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me.’” – Zechariah 2:8-10 [NKJV] The connection with 1 Corinthians 10 is also there: “Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.” – 1 Corinthians 10:1-5 [NKJV] As you can see the one point that Paul was making in these texts is that “all” were there in the wilderness and all passed through the sea… That part of Paul’s teaching is again put in the context of the wilderness of Sinai that period in which Israel was going through the 40 years of the wilderness experience and was being formed into a nation. Unity of the body of Christ is, in my opinion, not decided on issues of the theological interpretation of some minor issue, like what words the preacher said when you were baptized, or if you take communion with matzah bread or regular bread… Unity is an issue central to the survival not of one denomination or another, but to the survival of Christianity as a biblical faith and obedient expression of the body of Christ in the world. The divisions, and the enmity that is created by these divisions, is supposedly a systemic weakening of the whole mission and effectiveness of the place of the Good News in our world mission.
The situation in Israel in the last few weeks has been extremely stressful. The Hamas and the other terrorist organizations from Gaza have launched over 4,300 missiles aimed at the Israeli civilian population. More than 1,000 homes of Israeli civilian families have been damaged by rockets that carry more than 400 pounds of explosives.
The worst part is that there were nine synagogues burned by Arabs in the city of Lod and over 100 cars owned by Jews, and there were three lynching attempts and one of these attempts succeeded to kill a citizen of Lod who was loved and respected by both the Jewish and the Arab population of that city. Yes, there was also an attempt of Jews to respond in kind against Arabs who were innocent. This breakdown of society is and must be a subject for prayer, serious prayer, intercession, supplication, and just begging God for mercy on both the Jewish and Arab population in the State of Israel.
If you go to any hospital in Israel or any pharmacy it is very likely that your doctor could be an Israeli Arab, a Palestinian. There are many doctors who have studied medicine in Israel, who are excellent, and they are working, taking care equally of Jews and Arabs, Christians, Druze, and all people, just people. Pray for the restoration of a good peaceful relationship between the Jewish and the Arab population in the State of Israel.
In the Hamotzi food program of Netivyah we feed Jews of all ethnicities, as well as Arab families from the Old City of Jerusalem. We feed Orthodox Jews and Christian Arabs along with Muslim Arabs.
In our stipend to students at the universities in Israel, we have 40 or more students who receive scholarships for their studies from Netivyah, and in the past we have also helped Arab students with scholarships. Please keep Israel in your prayers and pray that the fabric of Israeli society stays whole, and that Jews and their Arab neighbors, and Arabs and their Jewish neighbors, continue to work and to live as good neighbors, together in peace.
Pray and support Netivyah during these very hard times for opportunities to meet needs, to do good, and to bless and feed those in need. The need for support for the population of Israel has increased many fold during these difficult days in Israel.
India and Brazil are still very much in serious trouble with the coronavirus situation. We need to continue to pray for India and Brazil and especially for our dear brothers and sisters in these two countries.
I received a special prayer request from our dear brother Isaac in Chennai, India. Brother Isaac asked us to pray especially for sister Sheela Stephen. Sister Sheela’s lungs are in serious need of oxygen, and right now hospital oxygen is very hard to find for those sick with the coronavirus.
We pray that You Lord will save our brothers and sisters who have the coronavirus. We pray that you will provide the protection and the medical care that they need to survive and to continue praise You and to glorify Your name.
Please continue to pray for Marcia. She has definitely slowed down significantly. She has very little energy and she rests most of the day. I am praying and believing in the Lord’s grace for healing Marcia and restoring her ability to function and travel with me and to be a blessing to the local congregation and community and to our brothers and friends around the world. Pray for Marcia, please!
Pray also for me. My left eye surgery is considered a great success by the doctors. They are very proud of themselves for the great work that they have done on my blind eye. They will be writing medical papers in some of the most prestigious medical magazines in the world.
Right now, I do see something, but it is like the description of the blind man whom Yeshua healed. He said, “I see people walking like trees.” I see now with my left eye like through a thick fog, but the doctors say that this situation will improve with time. This is for sure a true statement. In heaven I will have two good eyes that will see the visible and the invisible.
Our dear brother Yudah Chamero has finally returned home from Columbia. Yudah’s father is in Columbia contending with liver cancer. Please continue to pray for Yudah’s father.
Keep praying for the Rosenfeld family, the young and the old.
Please pray for a dear brother, Malcolm Thomas King, from the UK. Malcolm is already a week in hospital in critical condition. I don’t have any new information from Malcolm and his family.
Please consider helping Netivyah to continue caring and feeding the poor of Jerusalem and blessing the people of this city that need help to feed their children and families.
Also we need your prayers and help to continue to do the Lord's work with the youth in Jerusalem.
Please pray for the Teaching from Zion publication that has been printed and distributed by the thousands around the world free of charge. You can also subscribe to receive the Teaching from Zion Magazine by mail, a hard copy. This too is free of charge. The Lord has always been faithful to supply our needs. He has also been precise and provided what we need, not too little and not too much.
The Hamotzi program for feeding the needy of Jerusalem is ongoing and has not stopped during most of the coronavirus lockdown and quarantine. The number of needy people who come to receive food from our program has increased and overall need has increased.
Please pray for Netivyah and for the Netivyah leadership and find ways to partner and participate in the great blessing that the ministry of Netivyah is here in Israel and also around the world. Please pray and seek ways to partner and contribute financially for the Lord’s work in Netivyah Bible Instruction Ministry.
Both Yehuda and I continue to teach on Zoom and on YouTube and on the Netivyah Facebook every week and sometimes every day. Please pray for these teachings to bear fruit for the Kingdom of God. Enjoy the very fine teaching and enjoy learning from God’s Word. It is all free of charge!

Pray for all those wonderful, dedicated brothers and sisters in Korea who stood with Israel and with Netivyah to revive and to not forget their first love for Israel and for Netivyah.
Danah our daughter, needs much prayer for her health and her situation. Our granddaughter Noam is a senior in high-school and working with Zoom to finish her high school. Pray for the Lord to give Noam guidance and direction for graduation from high school.
Our grandson Joseph also needs prayer to be able to get into college with proper scholarships. Please lift Barry our son and his family, Beth, and Joey our grandson to be protected and spared any contact and infection of the coronavirus. Marcia’s mother June is 91 years old and her health is failing.
I am adding a new prayer request from a leader of God’s people in India, Joy Mathew. Joy has a serious heart condition and has asked for prayer.

Remember Tony and Louisa Tam, and our brothers and sisters at the 611 Church, and the other churches who love God and love Israel in that great city. Remember in your prayers the Cohen family in Hong Kong.
Just a word of grace before the mercy seat of the Almighty will be heard in favor of these brothers and Um Mahmud Abu-Eid and Jimmy Abu-Eid and his family, Keijo and Salme our dear brothers in Finland, Tim Tucker, Satu-Maria, Sinni Tuuli, Anne Mirjami our dear sister and all our other brothers and sisters in Finland who need our prayers, Eva H., Patty, Andrea, Julia and Victor, and Aaron Tani, and Hillel and his wife.

Please pray for the Rantavaara family and especially for Pekka our dear brother and for his whole family. Pekka is in advanced stages of Parkinson and needs the Lord’s healing and strength.
I have just received a prayer request from a dear sister from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her father who is 70 years old and diabetic has contracted the COVID-19 virus. His name is Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias.
Please see your prayer as casting a vote for healing before the Lord and His angels in Heaven in favor of every brother and sister that you are praying for. Just a word of grace for all of us is a refreshing spirit. Take your prayers before the mercy seat of the Almighty to be heard in favor of those that you are lifting in prayer.

Pray for Hadassah for a full recovery and remission from any cancer in her body.
Pray for Israel. We are going through terrible riots and violence in the streets of Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv and other places around the country. These riots are motivated by the fact that much of the populace of Israel does not understand what the government is doing in relationship to the coronavirus pandemic.
I would like a new prayer request for a dear brother Yehuda Hochman who lives in the Negev Desert. Yehuda has to receive Dialysis treatment several times per week.

Please pray for our two grandchildren. They are both graduating in a few weeks from high school. They are both facing this important change in their lives. Noam our granddaughter also has her 18th birthday on May 1st. This is a very big day for Noam. She will be free from high school and also from other obligations and be privileged to make her own decisions and choices in life. Pray for Noam on this major crossroad of life for her and ask the Lord to bless Noam and to give her clear direction and guidance for what is good and right and holy in her life.
Both Noam and Joseph, our two grandchildren, are extremely talented and good students. Both are “A” students and excellent young people, but both need divine protection and guidance to make good and smart and right choices for life.
When I was 18 years old and cut off from my family because of my faith in the Messiah, I had no one on my side and no one to guide me. The Lord’s providential leading and guidance was the only guide that I had. I praise the Lord for His goodness and direction in my life.
I pray that both Joseph and Noam will have such divine strength and vision for their own future that only right and good choices will be their gift from the Almighty God of Israel and Yeshua our Lord.
I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish! The best is yet to come!
