우리는 그의 치욕을 짊어지고 있는가?
이번 주에 우리는 두 개의 토라 포션을 읽습니다. 두 토라 포션은 “후캍”과 “발랔”인데요, 각각 민수기 19:1~22:1와 민수기 22:2~25:9입니다. 토파 포션 “후캍”에 보통 함께 읽는 선지서는 사사기 11:1-33이고, “발랔”에 함께 읽는 선지서는 미가 5:7~6:8입니다. 토파 포션 “후캍”에 신약성경에서 읽는 말씀은 요한복음 3:10–21이고, “발랔”에는 요한계시록 2:12-23입니다. 여러분은 지금 완전히 혼란스러울지도 모르겠습니다. 그렇습니다, 이스라엘 땅에서 읽는 말씀은 디아스포라(전 세계)에서 읽는 말씀과 다릅니다. 가끔 디아스포라, 즉 이스라엘 밖에서 토라 포션을 두 개 읽을 때가 있는데요, 바로 이번 안식일 2023년 7월 1일에 그렇습니다. 이스라엘에서는 토라 포션 “후캍”, 민수기 19:1~22:1, 선지서에서는 사사기 11:1-33, 신약성경에서는 요한복음 3:10-21만 읽습니다. 제가 뭐라고 할 수 있을까요, “친환경적이 되는 것은 쉽지 않습니다!” 이스라엘 땅과 그 외 세계에서 읽는 토라 읽기 일정에는 차이가 있습니다. 아랍권과 스페인권 유대인(스파라드 유대인)이 읽는 말씀과 이디쉬(동유럽 언어와 섞인 독일어)권 유대인이 읽는 말씀에도 차이가 있습니다. 그래서 “친환경적이 되는 것은 쉽지 않다!”는 말은 맞는 말입니다. 이제 “법의 율례”로 번역된 토라 포션 “후캍” 본문으로 갑니다. 이것은 “헌법”으로도 번역될 수 있습니다. 이 토라 포션은 매우 흥미로운데요, 왜냐하면 “붉은 암송아지”라고 불리는 것으로 시작되기 때문입니다. 이것은 붉은 (남자나 여자의 붉은 머리칼 같이) 암소입니다. 토라에서 이 독특한 가르침이 매우 흥미로운 이유는 성전(광야에서는 성막) 밖에서 드려지는 유일한 제사이기 때문입니다. 사실 이것은 광야에서 이스라엘 온 진영 밖에서 드려졌고, 아무도 이 제물의 어느 부분도 먹지 않는 제사였습니다. 이 제물은 통째로 재가 될 때까지 태워서 그 재만 여러 모양으로, 문둥병자의 정결케 함과 간음으로 참소당한 여인의 정결케 함에 사용되었습니다(민수기 5:11-30 참조). 붉은 암송아지의 재가 없이는 의례적으로 부정함과 의료적 부정함에서 정결해질 수 없었습니다. 이스라엘에는 진영 밖에서 드려진 이 제물이 반드시 있어야 했습니다. 지금 전 세계 모든 유대인에게는 이런 종류의 제사도, 성전도, 코셔 제사장직도 없기에, “붉은 암송아지”의 재도 없습니다! 신약성경 히브리서 13:10-16에 이렇게 기록되어 있는 것이 흥미롭습니다. “우리에게 제단이 있는데 장막에서 섬기는 자들은 그 제단에서 먹을 권한이 없나니 11 이는 죄를 위한 짐승의 피는 대제사장이 가지고 성소에 들어가고 그 육체는 영문 밖에서 불사름이라 12 그러므로 예수도 자기 피로써 백성을 거룩하게 하려고 성문 밖에서 고난을 받으셨느니라 13 그런즉 우리도 그의 치욕을 짊어지고 영문 밖으로 그에게 나아가자 14 우리가 여기에는 영구한 도성이 없으므로 장차 올 것을 찾나니 15 그러므로 우리는 예수로 말미암아 항상 찬송의 제사를 하나님께 드리자 이는 그 이름을 증언하는 입술의 열매니라 16 오직 선을 행함과 서로 나누어 주기를 잊지 말라 하나님은 이같은 제사를 기뻐하시느니라” 히브리서 저자가 말하고 있는 이 제사가 진영 밖에서 드려졌다는 점을 주목하시기 바랍니다. 제사장들이 이 제물을 먹을 수 없었다는 점과, 이 제물의 피를 죄 속함을 위해 성전 안으로 가져왔다는 점을 주목하십시오. 이 저자는 대제사장의 죄나, 개인의 죄에 대해서가 아니라 성전에서 섬기는 이들의 집단적 죄에 대해 말하고 있는 것입니다. 민수기 19장 본문을 읽고 나면 히브리서 저자(그 자신이 틀림없이 유대 광야에서 살았을)가 이번 안식일 토라 포션 “후캍”에 나오는 붉은 암송아지 제사가 희생제물이 되신 예슈아(예수)에게 적용되고 이루어졌다고 하는 점이 매우 흥미롭습니다. “자기 피로써 백성을 거룩하게 하려고 성문 밖에서 고난을 받으셨느니라” 이 상황의 결론은 예슈아께서 실제로 궁극적으로 진영 밖 붉은 암송아지 제물이었고, 우리 예슈아의 제자들은 기꺼이 예슈아와 함께 진영 밖으로 나가 그의 치욕을 짊어져야 한다는 것입니다. 이것은 우리 랍비, 구주, 하나님의 아들, 육신을 입으신 하나님의 말씀, 친히 살아있는 토라이신 예슈아의 제자들인 우리를 부르신 성령님의 아주 중요한 가르침입니다. 세상적 교회는 더 이상 기꺼이 그의 치욕을 짊어지거나 세상의 박해나 배척을 당하고자 하지 않습니다. 오늘날 세상적 교회는 콘서트에 있는 것 같이 되고 싶어 하고, 세상과 합의를 이루려 하고, 세상의 부를 상속하고 그 안에서 뒹굴고 싶어 합니다. 오늘날 세상적 교회는 진영 밖에 있고 싶어 하지 않고 세상을 십자가 고난과 희생과는 멀리 이끌어 가고 싶어 합니다. “십자가를 지고 예슈아를 따라”가고 싶어 하지 않습니다. 히브리서 본문입니다. 저는 해당 본문을 다시 반복하면서 전 세계 메시아의 몸의 모든 지도자들과 교사들이 우리 주와 사도들이 우리에게 행하며 살라고 명한 대로 살며 행하며 실천하는 예슈아의 제자들에 대한 배척과 박해와 소외와 절교를 각오할 것을 촉구합니다. “그런즉 우리도 그의 치욕을 짊어지고 영문 밖으로 그에게 나아가자 14 우리가 여기에는 영구한 도성이 없으므로 장차 올 것을 찾나니 15 그러므로 우리는 예수로 말미암아 항상 찬송의 제사를 하나님께 드리자 이는 그 이름을 증언하는 입술의 열매니라” (히브리서 13:13-15) 1960년대와 1970년대와 1980년대 예슈아의 제자로 이스라엘에 살았던 저희는 예슈아의 치욕을 짊어진다는 것이 신체적으로, 정서적으로, 때로는 몇 달 동안 매일, 진짜로 어떤 것인지 잘 압니다. 다음은 예슈아를 따르며 진영 밖에서 그분의 치욕을 짊어지는 일부로, 제 아내 마르시아와 제 온 가족이 겪었어야 했던 일들입니다. 짧게 열거해 보겠습니다: 오전 10시 문을 두드리는 소리가 있었습니다. 젊은 두 정통유대교 남자들이 그들의 손에 큰 갈색 종이가방 두 개를 들고 서 있었습니다. 제가 문을 열자 그들이 그 종이가방 안에 있던 것을 집 안으로 던졌습니다. 아이들은 자고 있었습니다. 흰색과 검정색과 갈색의 실험실 쥐들이 저희 아파트 안에서 사방으로 뛰어다녔습니다. 쥐를 정말 무서워하는 저희 어머니와 마르시아와 전날 밤 저희 집에 손님으로 왔던 살림 무나예르가 그 쥐들을 잡아 욕조에 던져넣기 시작했습니다. (욕조 안에는 물이 없었습니다.) 쥐 39마리를 잡아 담은 후, 살림 무나예르와 저는 그 쥐들을 예루살렘 경찰서로 가져갔습니다. 이미 자정이 넘은 때였습니다. 저희는 야간 근무 중이던 경찰관 책상에 그 쥐를 담은 가방을 내려놓았습니다. 그의 이름은 미키 레비였습니다. 최근 그는 예루살렘 크네셋(의회) 대변인을 역임했습니다. 경찰관 미키 레비는 “그것들을 여기서 가지고 나가세요!” 소리 지르기 시작했습니다. 이 사건은 세 달 넘게 밤낮 계속된 박해, 재산 피해, 저를 죽여 토막을 내겠다는 위협, 허위 신고 등의 서막이었습니다. 이 박해에 대한 마르시아의 대답은 “좋아, 내 남편은 이제 천국에 가니 너희는 영원히 지옥에 갈거야!”였습니다. 이 상황은 미국 테네시주 상원의원 하워드 베이커의 보좌관이었던 마이크 아담스가 이 뉴스를 미국 대통령에게 알리고 나서야 멈췄습니다. 미국 대통령이 이스라엘 대사에게 전화를 하고, 그 대사가 예루살렘에 전화를 하자, 곧 모욕과 박해가 그쳤습니다. 저는 20세기에 예슈아의 치욕을 짊어진다는 것이 어떤 것인지의 한 예로 이 일들을 여러분에게 나누는 것입니다. 저는 저를 살해하려던 세 번의 시도가 있었던 것도 나눌 수 있을 것 같습니다. 수류탄 사건, 제 집에서 차를 타고 가파른 언덕을 내려가는 동안 죽게 하려고 제 차를 만진 사건, 폭행 등이었습니다. 친애하는 형제님들, 제 요점은 히브리서 저자가 1세기에 쓴 것이 이론이 아니라는 것입니다. 그것은 실제입니다. 지금도 예루살렘에서 바로 얼마 전 6월 28일 오후에 기독교인들이 돌을 맞고 그들의 집이 파손되는 피해를 입은 사건이 이스라엘 텔레비전에 방송되었습니다. 지난 주에는 가톨릭 신부들이 올드시티 거리에서 폭행을 당했습니다. 그렇습니다, 친애하는 형제님들, 21세기에도 예루살렘뿐 아니라 전 세계에서 예슈아의 신실한 제자들이 예슈아의 치욕을 당하고 있습니다. 친애하는 형제자매님들, 여러분의 믿음 때문에 그 어떤 치욕도 짊어지지 않으며 자유롭게 사는 여러분은 다음과 같은 가능성 중 하나를 생각하셔야 합니다: 1) 여러분은 거룩하고 민주적인 기독교 공동체에 살고 있는 것입니다. 2) 여러분은 사실은 예슈아를 따르고 있지는 않으며, 세상의 일부로 살아가면서 여러분이 위협적이지 않기 때문에, 여러분이 교회에 가면서 예슈아의 제자라고 주장하지만 여러분의 삶과 행동이 전혀 세상에 위협이 되거나 비판적이지 않기 때문에 세상이 여러분을 좋아하고 여러분을 토닥이고 있는 것입니다. 3) 여러분은 사실 이름만 기독교인으로 여러분의 삶을 예슈아께 드린 적도, 하나님의 나라를 위해 드린 적도 없는 것입니다. 여러분은 명목상 “기독교인”일 뿐입니다. 어쩌면 핀란드나 스칸디나비아 같이 여러분의 세금 중 일부가 교회에 가고 가끔 교회에도 갈지도 모릅니다. 이 중 몇 가지가 여러분에게 해당된다면, 회개의 문은 언제나 열려 있고 여러분이 예슈아(예수)를 진지하게 받아들이고 헌신하여 마음을 바꾸어 예슈아(예수)를 여러분의 주와 구주로 삼고 그분을 섬기기 시작하며, 기꺼이 성문 밖으로 예슈아의 치욕을 짊어져 어둠 속에 빛을 비추는 회중 전등 같이 두드러지고자 하더라도 결코 늦지 않습니다. 이번 안식일에 이스라엘 밖에서 읽는 두 번째 토라 포션은 “발랔”이라고 하는 토라 포션입니다. 이 토라 포션은 이스라엘을 저주하여 모압과 이스라엘의 다른 적들이 유리한 위치에 두어 이스라엘을 이겨 이스라엘이 약속의 땅으로 들어오지 못하도록 막으려고 메소포타미아 주술가를 고용했던 모압왕의 이름을 따른 포션입니다. “발랔” 포션은 민수기 22:2~25:9입니다. 이야기 전체가 흥미롭지만, 가장 흥미로운 것은 발람의 나귀입니다. 발락은 모압왕으로, 주술가 발람에게 와서 이스라엘에 저주를 내려 이스라엘이 저주받아 하나님께서 그들을 버려서 그의 땅에 들어와 지나가지 못하게 하도록 그를 초청합니다. 발락왕은 발람에게 기꺼이 금으로 값을 쳐주려 하고, 발람은 그가 오직 하나님께서 말씀하시는 것만 듣고 행하겠노라 주장합니다. 그런데 발람의 욕심이 그를 이겨 그는 두 세계의 좋은 것을 원합니다. 발람은 그가 이스라엘을 저주하면 발락이 약속한 금도 갖고 싶고, 동시에 하나님께서 그에게 명하신 것을 듣고 행하고도 싶습니다. 토라 포션 “발랔”이 흥미로운 이유는 국제적으로 유명한 주술가 발람에게 이스라엘을 저주할 수 있는 능력이 있었기 때문입니다. 모압왕 발락은 발람에게 금과 부를 제안하고, 발람은 발락이 제안하는 금과 부를 받고 싶습니다. 그는 세상의 부와 인정과 세상이 그에게 줄 수 있는 것 사이의 적정선을 원합니다. 그런데 동시에 발람은 이렇게 말합니다: “발람이 발락의 신하들에게 대답하여 이르되 발락이 그 집에 가득한 은금을 내게 줄지라도 내가 능히 여호와 내 하나님의 말씀을 어겨 덜하거나 더하지 못하겠노라 19 그런즉 이제 너희도 이 밤에 여기서 유숙하라 여호와께서 내게 무슨 말씀을 더하실는지 알아보리라” (민수기 22:18-19) 발람은 세상의 부와 정치적 갈채를 원하지만, 또 동시에 “나는 주 나의 하나님의 말씀 이상 나아가 더도 덜도 할 수 없다”고 말합니다. 우리 중 얼마나 많은 사람이 이와 똑같은 딜레마를 가지고 있을까요? 예루살렘 태생의 88세가 넘으신 사리트 자매님은 혼자 살고 계십니다. 가까운 가족이 없고 여러 가지 노인 질환을 앓고 계십니다.

The Jerusalem Prayer List – June 30, 2023

Do We Bear His Reproach?
This week we will read a double portion from the Torah. The reading will be from the portions called Chukat and Balak: Numbers 19:1-22:1, and for Balak the reading is from Numbers 22:2 – 25:9. The normal reading from the prophets this Shabbat for Chukat is from Judges 11:1-33, and for Balak from Micah 5:7 – 6:8. From the New Testament the reading this next Shabbat will be for Chukat from John 3:10 – 21, and the reading for Balak is from Revelation 2:12-23. You might be totally confused now. Yes, the reading in the Land of Israel is different from the readings in the diaspora (around the world). Sometimes, there are two weekly portions read together in the Diaspora and of course this is what is happening this Shabbat of July 1st, 2023 outside of Israel. In Israel the reading will be only from the portion of Chukat, i.e., from Numbers 19:1-22:1, and from the Prophets from Judges 11:1-33, and from the New Testament from the Gospel of John 3:10-21. What can I say, “It is not easy being green!” [1] There are differences in the Torah readings schedule between the Land of Israel and the rest of the world. There are also differences in the readings between Jews from the Arab and Spanish countries (Sephardic Jews) and those Jews who come from the Yiddish (Germanic language mixed with eastern European languages). So, it is true, “it is not easy being green!” Now to the actual Torah texts; from the Torah portions called Chukat which is translated in NKJV as “ordinance of the law”. It could also be translated as “Constitution.” This Torah portion is very interesting because it starts with what is called the “Red Heifer.” This is a cow that is red (like a red headed hair of a man or a woman.). The uniqueness of this teaching in the Torah is very interesting because it is the only sacrifice that was offered outside the temple (also outside of the Tabernacle in the Wilderness.). In fact, it was offered outside the whole camp of Israel in the wilderness and none of the offering was eaten by anyone. The whole animal was burned all the way to ashes, and only the ashes were used for different modes of purification of lepers, and clearing a woman who is accused of adultery (See Numbers 5:11-30). Without the ashes of the Red Heifer there cannot be any purification from ceremonial or medical impurity. It is essential for Israel to have this sacrifice that was sacrificed outside the camp. Right now, all of the Jews in the world don’t have this kind of sacrifice, don’t have a temple, and don’t have a kosher priesthood, and therefore don’t have the ashes of the RED HEIFER! It is interesting that in the New Testament, it is written in Hebrews 13:10 -16. “We have an altar from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat. 11 For the bodies of those animals, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned outside the camp. 12 Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate. 13 Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach. 14 For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come. 15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. 16 But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” Please notice that this sacrifice, that the writer of the book of Hebrews is talking about, is sacrificed outside the camp. Notice that the priests are not allowed to eat from this sacrifice. Notice that that blood of this sacrifice is brought to the temple for atonement of sins. He is not talking about the sin of the High Priest’s sins, or individual sins, but the collective sins of those who serve in the temple. After reading the text from Numbers 19 – it is very interesting that the writer of the book of Hebrews (who himself must have lived in the desert of Judea) makes the RED Heifer sacrifice, that comes from our Torah reading on this Shabbat from the portion Chukat, applicable and fulfilled in Yeshua (Jesus) who was sacrificed “Outside the camp in order to sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate.” The conclusion of this situation is that Yeshua was actually the ultimate sacrifice of the Red Heifer outside the camp and we, Yeshua’s disciples, must be willing to go with Yeshua outside the camp, and bear His reproach. This is a very important teaching by the Holy Spirit calling us, the disciples of Yeshua, the followers of our Rabbi, Savior, Son of God, The Word of God that has put on flesh, i.e., the living Torah Himself. The worldly church is no longer willing to bear His reproach or suffer the persecution and rejection of the world. The worldly church today, wants to be in concert and consensus with the world; to inherit the wealth of the world and wallow in it. The worldly church today wants to be not outside the camp, but to lead the world away from the suffering and sacrifice of the cross. It doesn’t want to “take up the Cross and follow Yeshua!” Here is the text itself from the book of Hebrews. I am repeating the relevant text and urging all the leaders and teachers in the Body of the Messiah, worldwide, to get ready for rejection, and persecution, and alienation and repudiation of the followers of Yeshua ,who are living and walking and practicing what our Lord and the Apostles commanded us to do and live. “Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach. 14 For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come. 15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.”(Hebrews 13:13) Those of us who lived in Israel as disciples of Yeshua in the 1960’s and 1970’s and 1980’s – know well what it means to bear the reproach of Yeshua for real, physically and emotionally, sometimes daily for months. Here are some of the things that Marcia my wife, and my whole family, had to go through as a part of following Yeshua and bearing His reproach outside the camp. This is going to be a short list: 10 p.m. a knock on the door! Two young Orthodox Jewish men, stand with two big brown paper bags in their hands. I open the door and they cast the content of the two bags into our house. The children are sleeping. Laboratory mice, white, black, brown, run in our apartment in every direction. My mother, who was truly afraid of mice, and Marcia and Salim Munayyer who was our guest that night, started catching the mice and throwing them into the bathtub. (There was no water in the tub.). After catching 39 mice and loading them, Salim Munayyer and I took the mice to the main police station in Jerusalem. It was already past midnight. We drop the bag of mice on the desk of the policeman who was on night duty. His name was Mikey Levi. Recently he was the speaker of the Knesset (Parliament) in Jerusalem. Mikey Levi the policemen started to scream, “Take them out from here!” This event was the opening chapter of over three months of daily and nightly persecution, damage to property, threats, false reports that they have killed me and cut me to pieces. Marcia’s answer to the persecutors was, “Fine, my husband is now in Heaven, and you are going to hell forever!” The situation stopped only after Mike Adams, who was the congressional aide to senator Howard Baker from Tennessee, took the news to the President of the USA. The President called the Israeli ambassador, who called Jerusalem, and immediately that wave of reproach and persecution stopped. I am sharing these things with you just as an example of what it means to bear the reproach of Yeshua in the 20th century. I could continue sharing three times attempted murder on me, a military hand-grenade, a tinkering with my car so that I would die going down a steep hill going out of my house with the car…. beatings and more. My point my dear brothers is that what the writer of the book of Hebrews is writing in the first century is not in theory. It is real, and just now, the Israeli television, on June 28th, in the afternoon, in Jerusalem, Christians were stoned and damage was caused to their home. In the last week Catholic Priests were beaten in the streets of the Old City. Yes, my dear brothers even in the 21st Century all over the world, not only in Jerusalem there are faithful disciples of Yeshua suffering His reproach. You, my dear brothers and sisters, who live in freedom and without bearing any reproach for your faith,must consider one of the following possibilities: 1) That you are living in a community that is Christian and holy and democratic. 2) That you are not really following Yeshua, but living your life as a part of the world and the world likes you and pampers you because you are not threatening it and although you are going to church and claim to be a disciple of Yeshua, your life and action has no threat or criticism of the world. 3) That you are actually Christian by name only and have never given your life to Yeshua and to the Kingdom of God. You are nominally “a Christian!” May be like in Finland, and Scandinavia, you give a part of your taxes to the Church and sometimes you might even go to Church. If some of these apply to you, the doors of repentance are always open and it is never too late for you to take Yeshua (Jesus) seriously and be committed and be converted and make Yeshua your LORD and SAVIOR and start serving Him; willing to go outside the doors of the city and bear His reproach like a flashlight shining in the dark, stand out. The second reading portion on this Shabbat, outside of Israel, is the reading from the Torah portion called Balak. This Torah portion is named after a Mesopotamian sorcerer (magician) who was hired by the King of Moab to curse Israel and give advantage to Moab and the other enemies of Israel to achieve victory and keep Israel from entering into the promised land. The portion of Balak starts from Numbers 22:2 – 25:9. The whole story is fascinating, but the most fascinating thing is Balaam’s donkey. Balak is the King of Moab, and he invites Balaam the magician the sorcerer to come and put a magic spell on Israel so that they would be cursed, and God would abandon them, and they would not enter pass through his land. Balak, the King, was willing to pay in gold to Balaam, who claimed that he will listen and do only what God will tell him. But Balaam’s greed gets the best of him, and he wants the best of both worlds. Balaam wants the gold that Balak promised him if he would curse Israel, and also at the same time wanted to hear and do what God commands him. The Torah portion Balak is fascinating because Balaam, the international famous magician, had the ability to curse Israel. Balak, the King of Moab, offers Balaam gold and wealth and Balaam wants to receive the gold and wealth that Balak is offering, and he titers between wanting the wealth and approval of the WORLD and what the World can give him, but at the same time Balaam says these words: “Then Balaam answered and said to the servants of Balak, “Though Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more. 19 Now therefore, please, you also stay here tonight, that I may know what more the LORD will say to me.” Balaam wants the wealth of the world and the political acclaim, but he also states that “I could not go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more.” (Numbers 22:18-19) How many of us also have the same dilemma? On the one hand, we want to be faithful to the Creator, to our God and father. On the other hand, we want to be in with the WORLD and enjoy the riches and sinful pleasures of this world. It is difficult for us all to step out of our cities, our world, and to out to the desert to meet and fellowship with Yeshua. The world is strong and tempting and inviting and Balaam was fortunate to have a donkey that could see more of the spiritual things than the famous Balaam. The Angel of the Lord stands in the way of Balaam; trying to keep Balaam from falling into his temptation to curse Israel. The Angel tries to stop Balaam, but Balaam doesn’t see the Angel of the Lord. Balaam’s donkey sees the Angel holding the sword in his hand and threatening Balaam. The donkey does all that he knows how to do to stop Balaam, but Balaam is blind to what is standing in front of him. The international magician and prophet doesn’t see the Angel, but his donkey sees the angel, and has a conversation with the Angel. Balaam doesn’t understand why his donkey is behaving so differently and not being obedient and starts beating the donkey on the head with his stick. The donkey starts actually speaking to Balaam and conducting a conversation with Balaam and finally Balaam sees the Angel holding his sword in his hand. The moral of the story for us today, is very simple and important. A beast of burden like the donkey, sometimes sees and hears more of God’s revelation than some prophets and “men of God!” We have the text from Isaiah that says, “Who is Blind like my servant Jacob.” There are so many lessons to be learned from the story of Balak and Balaam, but the main and most important lesson is that God can guide the man of God even by a speaking donkey, or even by a dumb donkey. Sometimes a donkey can see more from God and be closer to God than the “man of God” – the pastor - the elder or the bishops. Leadership can often be blind to the Lord and His revelation, when a small child or a donkey, with open eyes, can be a leader for God’s people. Click Here Before I get into the prayer list – I would like to write you about a new project that Netivyah has partnered with the Houses of Healing Ministry from Abilene, Texas. Houses of Healing is a special and very unique ministry. It offers a place to live, a "tiny house" that is fully equipped with all that is needed to live for a season. It is in fact, already in use right now, to provide a place to live for patients or families of people who are hospitalized in the Hadassah Hospital and other hospitals in Jerusalem. You see dear brothers, when a family member, especially a child, is ill, the family needs to be with the patient that is in the hospital, but they often can’t afford to go to a hotel or rent a place so that during the day they can be with their sick family member. So, Netivyah together with the Houses of Healing from Abilene, Texas, and with Jonathan Milles who has one of the extraordinary and most unique ministries in the world are filling this need. Many years ago, Jonathan and his family became aware of the serious state of affairs of very young babies, and other children, who need immediate open-heart surgery. Jonathan and his wife and children actually moved to live in the middle of a Palestinian refugee camp in Gaza and ministered to the families and the sick children, facilitating open heart surgery for babies that had serious heart deformities and saving lives. In fact, Jonathan has brought to Israel, young children and even babies and their families to have Israeli doctors do open heart surgeries and save the lives of their babies. Jonathan has housed these families in different places, but now, with the idea that our dear brother from Abilene, Texas, of Houses of Healing, Jonathan, and Netivyah have joined and opened a home for patients and families hospitalized in Jerusalem. The building is rented in partnership with Houses of Healing from Texas and Johnathan Milles and Netivyah, to provide a place to stay and food and prayer, and logistical help while their family members are hospitalized and getting treatment by Israeli medical doctors. These doctors provide their expertise to save Arab babies from almost sure death if they don’t get heart surgeries for their children. Right now, in the Jerusalem House of Healing, there are several people who need a place to stay while they or their family members are undergoing surgery and treatment. We have a mother of two from the Galilee, we will have next week a young soldier from upper Galilee who needs daily treatment in the Hadassah hospital. This soldier is getting a place to stay. We also have a family from an Arab country that is not friendly with Israel, and Israeli doctors are treating their child free of charge including heart surgery, as well as two families from Gaza. We receive these people by referral from the social workers of the hospitals. We provide this need to these people, and have Jews and Arabs from the Arab countries, living together in the same building eating together at the same table, and sharing the goodness and mercy that you our dear brothers provide; Netivyah, and Houses of Healing from Abilene, Texas, and Johnathan Milles. We ask you to pray and stand with all three ministries; Netivyah, Houses of Healing, and Johnathan Milles. These three ministries are doing good, giving free medical treatment to these families, and bringing light, hope, and support for the future glorification of Yeshua’s name in preparation for His return to Jerusalem. Please don’t forget to pray for this vital ministry and for each of the three ministries that are involved in this project. Also, remember to help financially for the Jerusalem House of Healing. I will share with you that last year when I was hospitalized in the Hadassah hospital for 9 days, a man in the corner of the room was hospitalized with a similar problem as I had. His wife was with him all day and night for several weeks. Every time she would make him a cup of tea or coffee, she would also make me also a cup of tea or coffee. This old woman was sleeping as much as she can on an easy chair, every night, all night long, and taking care of her husband, and a little also of me. Now people like these will be referred by the social workers of the Hadassah Hospital and other hospitals in Jerusalem to the House of Healing in Jerusalem, not far from the Hadassah Hospital. The house has a garden and three very nice, remodeled apartments with all new and modern furniture, their food will be provided by Netivyah and Israeli doctors do the needed surgery to heal and give them a good life of health and prosperity in their lives. The three ministries working together are creating islands of peace and cooperation between Jews and Arabs who serve together the Lord of Hosts and the people who are most needy in the land of Israel. Please pray for Israel which is in a situation that can easily turn into an end of democracy in the State of Israel. The problem is not one-sided, it is from both sides of the political spectrum.

Ilana Ahijervie, a dear sister who is 98 years old and suffering from memory problems.
Sarit, a sister born in Jerusalem, over 88 years old, lives alone. Has no close family, and suffers from several old-age illnesses.
Yehuda Hochman, is a dear older brother living in the Negev desert with some illness that needs healing.
Please keep praying for the Shulam family. Pray for our health and strength to continue to serve our people and disciples of Yeshua around the whole world. Pray especially for Marcia, my wife, and don’t forget me and our family. Don’t forget Netivyah because Netivyah is truly doing an amazing work in Israel and around the whole world. Pray for the congregations related to Netivyah in Brazil, to have the strength and stamina to face the challenges in front of them with courage and strength of faithfulness to the Lord, and to the vision of the restoration of the church and Israel.
Pray for the millions of victims of the Spanish and Portuguese Inquisition who have been forced to convert to the Catholic church, and now want to return home to the land of Israel and to the faith of our fathers.
Pray for the state of Israel to open the doors for these lost Jews to be able to return and fulfill God’s promises to the prophet Ovadyah:

Joseph Mock, a young man in his 30s, a dear brother that was named after me, has leukemia in an advanced stage. He is in the hospital and needs our urgent prayers. Joseph Mock is the son of Steve Mock, who is also one of the faithful disciples of Yeshua who became a believer in the early years of Netivyah.
Steve Mock is also in need of our prayers. He had a massive stroke and now he cannot speak, and has other limitations. Please keep Steve Mock also in your prayers, and pray for his wife Josse for strength and blessings and good health.
Pray for three women of God in Canada who need healing, Lynda, Sandy and Joanne.
I am asking a special prayer for a dear brother and friend who is now doing a greatly important work in a very dangerous and precarious part of the world. Just mention DadyLion in your prayers, and ask for divine protection and angelic accompaniment for this man of God.

We ask you to join us in prayer that the right young people, talented and anointed by the Spirit of God will come and work with us, and the provision to pay the Netivyah workers a fair and just payment.
I pray that the Lord will inspire and motivate brothers and sisters and ministries who can help with this to visit here do what they can to make it possible for us to double or more than double, the number of people and families that we serve.
