The Jerusalem Prayer List – May 5, 2023

The summer is still not here, but spring is blossoming all over this land. In nature, in the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, in the civil demonstrations against the government and for the government, for the reforms in the Israeli legal system, in the educational format, and in the system of the State of Israel.
In my opinion, the judicial reform that the Israeli governing coalition is proposing to enact, is a judicial reform that will give the governing party absolute control on the Supreme Court of the State of Israel. Again, in my opinion, this kind of move made by the governing party will end the democracy in Israel because the parliament will have the right to ignore and cancel any Supreme Court ruling and the government will be free to pass any laws; even laws that would trample the civil rights of particular parties that the present government does not like or appreciate. Not everyone agrees with this. And we must pray for Israel and for the peace inside of Israel and also from the outside of Israel, by enemies like Iran, that keep repeating their desire to delete Israel off the world map. Shabbat’s reading for May 6th 2023, from the Torah will be Parashat Emor, from Leviticus 21:1 – 24:23, and from the Prophets, the reading will be from Ezekiel 44:15-31. From the New Testament, we will read from 1 Peter 2:4-10. This Shabbat we will have the guests from Brazil, our dear brothers Marcelo Guimaraes and his family who are coming to Israel to celebrate their grandson, Daniel, Bar-Mitzvah. They will attend our congregation on Shabbat and we hope that Daniel will also read his portion from the Torah and be blessed by all of us for his Bar-Mitzvah together will all of his family. The Emor Torah portion from Leviticus 21:1 – 24:23, starts with rules for the priests from Aaron’s family and tribe not to be defiled, even from the dead of their own family. Even until today, if your family name is Cohen or any variation of this name, you can’t touch the dead person or enter into a cemetery for a funeral, even of a close family member. This tradition is very old and in fact from the Torah itself. Jews who have a blood line from the priestly families could be called Cohen, or Spiro, Katz, Kahanah, and Cahoun, and many other names that are all names of priestly families from the tribe of Levi. The next very impressive and important teaching from the Torah portion of Emor, is the realization that being a priest, one is not a free person: to marry any one he wants and wear anything he wants and do anything he wants. A priest is a servant of God and he has many restrictions put on his life that don’t allow him to do or go anywhere freely. This aspect of the Torah could have implications to those of us who are serving God in the virtual Temple of the Lord in the synagogues and in the churches. I know that in the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, priests have some similar restrictions and rules that are stiff and not easy like the Torah imposes on the LEVITICAL priesthood. As evangelicals and Messianic Jews, we have adapted a very free and casual attitude toward our ministry and often times the Pastors and Church // Messianic Synagogue workers seem to take their responsibility very casually and informally. The treatment of the ministry could be at times deemed like a private business. The attitude of the Pastor// Messianic Rabbi could be that his service in the church or synagogue is actually his, as he is the owner of the church or ministry. Sometimes the ministry is also called by the name of the pastor or the leader. The LEVITICAL priesthood was a much more structured and formal and required greater discipling and team work with the other priests and assistants. The second major topic of our Torah reading is the “The feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts.” The issue of the feasts of the Lord is one of the most challenging for the Messianic Jews in Israel. There is significant progress in the attitude of most of the Messianic Jewish fellowships in Israel. But in the world, the clouds of Roman Christianity are still hovering over the practices and attitudes of many Messianic fellowships. Here are some points that I would like to bring up that ought to encourage Messianic Jewish and even Protestant Christians to take the FEASTS OF THE LORD more seriously. 1. The Biblical Feasts are not Jewish Feasts; they are the Feasts of the Lord. 2. These same feasts are the feasts that Yeshua and his disciples kept and celebrated and gave special meaning to their lives and clear identification with the Torah and with the prophets, and with the continued revelation for the early community that celebrated these feasts well into the second century after the Messiah and even into the fourth century. 3. The Passover is clearly commanded to be celebrated to the church in Corinth “Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. Therefore, let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” (1 Corinthians 5:7–8 NKJV) It is important for both Jews and Gentile Disciples of Yeshua, to get free from the false teachings and traditions of Catholic Christianity and the pagan holidays that were adapted by the Churches, and return to the same faith and roots of Yeshua’s faith and teaching that all came and are based on the Torah, and nothing else! There is that old Gospel song, that was sung in the American frontier and has long been forgotten and needs to be restored: Give me that old-time religion

Pray for faithful brothers and sisters in Israel.
Please pray for the State of Israel and the government of Israel and for the Prime Minister of Israel! Now!
Please pray for Israel which is in a situation that can easily turn into an end of democracy in the State of Israel. The problem is not one-sided, it is from both sides of the political spectrum.
In Jerusalem pray for the following brothers and sisters who are in need of divine grace and the gentle touch of the hand of God for healing and strength.
Ilana Ahijervie, a dear sister who is 98 years old and suffering from memory problems.
Lea Korky, a dear sister who is 89 years old and served for many years as a nurse in the Sha’arei Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem.
Sarit, a sister born in Jerusalem, over 87 years old, lives alone. Has no close family, and suffers from several old-age illnesses.
Yehuda Hochman, is a dear older brother living in the Negev desert with some illness that needs healing.
Please continue to pray for My wife Marcia and her health. We need to pray for her strength and her energy and her arthritis and diabetic and memory problems, as well as for help in my house that will free me to do more for the Kingdom.
Your prayers for Alexander and Sarah, and Andrew, who were raised as believers and have left their faith behind, have been answered, the Divine Shepherd guided these members of the same family gently back to the fold, please keep praying for their general and spiritual welfare!
Pray for Adam R. Adam has lost much of his hearing as a result of a virus. Pray for Adam and his family of 8 children.
Pray for Adam’s father and mother, Barry and Dalia. They too have some health problems and challenges.
Pray for Miriam and for Hannah, her daughter. Miriam is a dear sister and has lost her husband recently.

Brazil
Pray for the congregations related to Netivyah in Brazil, to have the strength and stamina to face the challenges in front of them with courage and strength of faithfulness to the Lord, and to the vision of the restoration of the church and Israel.
Pray for the millions of victims of the Spanish and Portuguese Inquisition who have been forced to convert to the Catholic church, and now want to return home to the land of Israel and to the faith of our fathers.
Pray for the state of Israel to open the doors for these lost Jews to be able to return and fulfill God’s promises to the prophet Ovadyah:
“But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, And there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. The house of Jacob shall be a fire, And the house of Joseph a flame; But the house of Esau shall be stubble; They shall kindle them and devour them, And no survivor shall remain of the house of Esau, For the Lord has spoken. The South shall possess the mountains of Esau, And the Lowland shall possess Philistia. They shall possess the fields of Ephraim And the fields of Samaria. Benjamin shall possess Gilead. And the captives of this host of the children of Israel Shall possess the land of the Canaanites As far as Zarephath. Pray for Bernardo Antonio Nothen Becker. Bernardo is addicted to gambling and playing poker. This caused deep sorrow to his family.
Fernanda Nothen Becker, our dear sister has problems with her job that cause her pressure and challenges. Pray for the social situation in Fernanda’s work to turn and her suffering to turn into joy and friendship.
A 70-year-old Pastor Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias, He is the father of a dear sister in Brazil, and suffers from diabetes.
Pray for Roberto Morias, a dear brother who is going through heart surgery and an angiogram.

Pray for Pastor Barnabas in Korea, who is in a coma.
Pray for Bee Kim’s younger sister who suffered a massive stroke on 26 February on her 71st birthday and has not regained consciousness till now.

In India, Pastor Isaac, from Chennai, needs our prayers. Pastor Isaac is suffering from kidney problems and has to have dialysis several times per week.

Pray for the Cohen family in Hong Kong and for the leadership and congregation of 611 in Hong Kong.

Please pray for Ruby K. from Hong Kong. Ruby has gone through a very complicated surgery for multiple cancers in her body. The surgery was very long, and Ruby is back home now recovering. Please lift Ruby K. and ask the Lord to heal and deliver Ruby from Hong Kong.
Pray for family and friends and dear brothers and sisters in the United States of America.
Please pray for the daughter of Bill Colwell, who is very sick with cancer.
Please pray for my family in the United States: Barry my son and his wife Beth, and for Joey my grandson. Pray for their divine protection and health.
Pray for Danah my daughter's health issues. I pray for the Lord to give Danah wisdom and peace and calm in life and in her work.
Pray for Noaam my granddaughter. She is working two jobs now and needs good health and wisdom to make the right choices and plans for life, education, immigration to Israel, and just general protection from all harm.
Pray for David Young the preacher in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, who is back to preaching after recovering from medical issues. Please keep David in your prayers.
Pray for Ruby Little, our dear and faithful sister who has cancer and has stopped receiving medical treatment for the cancer that she has. Please pray for Ruby that the Lord will heal and strengthen her and provide for all her needs both medically and socially.
Aaron Hook, Nancy Hook’s oldest son, needs our prayers for wisdom and healing from past issues of life.
Lift for blessing and healing Jonathan B. and his wife Aviva and their new baby, his mother, and his brother Daniel. Pray for these very important men of God: Rabbi Salt, his family, and Rabbi Hasselblad. They are both older and need protection and blessings.
Pray a blessing for a dear sister Angela Isby and her situation. Pray for Tiz H. and Lion H.
Also pray for Ilana Avramov who is married to my cousin Nissim and lives in New York City. Ilana has fallen and in now in rehab learning how to walk again. We pray for her full recovery. She and Nissim both need our prayers.
Joseph Mock, a young man in his 30s, a dear brother that was named after me, has leukemia in an advanced stage. He is in the hospital and needs our urgent prayers. Joseph Mock is the son of Steve Mock, who is also one of the faithful disciples of Yeshua who became a believer in the early years of Netivyah.
Steve Mock is also in need of our prayers. He had a massive stroke and now he cannot speak, and has other limitations. Please keep Steve Mock also in your prayers, and pray for his wife Josse for strength and blessings and good health.
Pray for three women of God in Canada who need healing, Lynda, Sandy and Joanne.
Please pray for Netivyah and for the good work that Netivyah is doing in Israel and around the world.
We need more workers because of the challenges and needs and opportunities to bless the King Yeshua and His Kingdom down here on Earth and bless the poor people of Jerusalem visit here do what they can and produce more materials, books, and magazines.
We ask you to join us in prayer that the right young people, talented and anointed by the Spirit of God will come and work with us, and the provision to pay the Netivyah workers a fair and just payment.
I pray that the Lord will inspire and motivate brothers and sisters and ministries who can help with this to visit here do what they can to make it possible for us to double or more than double, the number of people and families that we serve.
