The Jerusalem Prayer List – March 31, 2023

We are reading the second portion of the book of Leviticus and the name of this portion in Hebrew is TZAV - Leviticus 6:8 - 8:36. From the prophets the reading is Jeremiah 7:21 – 8:3, and 9:23-24. From the New Testament we will be reading from Romans 12:1-8.
Leviticus chapter 7:21 starts with the following words: The word TZAV means “Command!” The normal communication of God with Moses was, “speak” – “call”, like the first Torah portion of Leviticus that in Hebrew it is called “Vayikra” = “And He Called…”. The word for command in the Hebrew Bible is not a rare word, it appears in the Hebrew Bible 202 times. It is a very direct and emphatic, and leaves no doubt of what God expects from people whom he commands to take action in obedience to His command. Now God commands Moses, and through Moses’ command, Aaron his brother. Aaron is to command his sons and they are to pass on the instruction to the people who will come to worship in the Tabernacle. They also instruct the people what they need to do to bring their offerings and present them to the Lord. This simple information seems almost too simple for someone to make a teaching from this chain of command that starts and ends with God and it is passed all the way to us in the 21st Century, thousands of years later for our instruction and guidance. The Mishnah that is a collection of Rabbinical teachings and instruction that starts with a tractate called “Avot” – “The Fathers!” With the following words: “Moses received the Torah at Sinai and transmitted it to Joshua, Joshua to the elders, and the elders to the prophets, and the prophets to the Men of the Great Assembly. They said three things: Be patient in [the administration of] justice, raise many disciples and make a fence round the Torah.” People ask how was the Bible written and transmitted to us? Well, this text from the Torah Portion of “TZAV” from Leviticus 6:8 – 8:36, gives us a window into the process of transmission of God’s word. Moses received the Torah from God on top of Mount Sinai, and passed it on to Joshua, and Joshua to the elders, and it was transmitted from one generation to the next. The Bible as we know it today, is a collection of divinely transmitted texts, written by faithful witnesses who wrote what they experienced and what other witnesses experienced. The collection of texts was accepted as divine revelation from the Almighty Creator of the world, and handed to the Jewish nation. This charge, that God gave to the Jewish people as a nation, is generally speaking, totally ignored by the vast majority of Christians. The impression that Christians hand down is that the Bible is their heritage and that it is a Christian book. However, the transmission of the Bible, both what is called “Old Testament” and what is called “New Testament,” was by far written by Jews, in a Jewish context and settings mostly in the land of Israel. If it was not written in the land of Israel, like the book of Daniel, and the book of Esther, and Ezekiel, the writers were looking with passion at the land of Israel, as God given, and the home land of the Jewish nation, both in the present and definitely for the future. Here is an interesting text that gives us a small window on the process of transmission of God’s Word; the LORD said to me, “Take a large scroll, and write on it with a man’s pen concerning Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz. And I will take for Myself faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiahu.”” (Isaiah 8:1–2 NKJV) Today, we are living in a very skeptical world; a world that doubts everything and especially doubts the veracity of the Word of God. But the interesting thing that is happening in the land of Israel is that several times per year, there is another archaeological find that substantiates the faithfulness of the transmission of God’s revelation of His will and commandments for mankind: is trust worthy and faithful all the way from the days of Moses to our own day. Can you imagine that recently, archaeologists officially announced the discovery of a 3,100-year-old inscription from the site of Khirbet al-Ra‘i that may be evidence of Gideon the Judge? Khirbet al-Ra‘i is the biblical city of Ziklag, that was the headquarters of David and his collection of vagabonds and criminals that followed him during the days of his escaping from King Saul’s chase to kill him. Ziklag and the story of David is from 1 Samuel 30. Ziklag was not known until the Israeli archaeologist, Joseph Gurfinkel, excavated and found it in Khirbet al-Ra’I, just east from Kiryat Gath, and West of Tel-Lachish. It is a small hill settlement about 2.5 miles west of Tel Lachish, the important Canaanite city-state and, later, a city in the triable territory of Judah. Ziklag was an important strategic center that was destroyed by Sennacherib (701 B.C.E.). In this important city, that the King of Lachish gave to David and his men to live and escape from King Saul, who was looking for David to kill him, a small pot-shred was found with ancient Hebrew text that had the name of Gideon (the judge from Ephrat). This is an amazing find that substantiates the faithfulness of the transmission of the Biblical narrative. We must remember that the Word of God was transmitted for thousands of years before the printing press, and before computers. Faithful men sat to copy, by hand, every word and every jot and tittle: all by hand. It took and takes a scribe a year to just write the five Books of Moses by hand, on goat skins with a handmade feather pen, and special ink, made by hand, around a year’s time. Every time that the scribe has to write the holy name of God, the four letters, the scribe has to go to the mikva (immersion pool) and purify himself and then return to his place and write the four letters of God’s holy name! It is most important for us to understand and trust the chain of transmission of God’s revelation from the ancient days that could be 3000 years old. In the last years Biblical Archaeology, it has been discovered in Jerusalem alone seals, with the names of Isaiah the prophet, and names of officials from the days of Jeremiah the prophet, that are mentioned only one time in the whole Bible. The writing of God’s Word is faithful and done by faithful man (Scribes) and the narrative of the biblical stories is proven over and over again as a true and trustworthy narrative that can and ought to be trusted. The whole issue must be trusted and examined and studied is this chain of transmission from one witness to the other, from one scribe to the next; the text is protected by divine providence. We know this for sure because we have the whole book of Isaiah from the 2nd century B.C.E. – from Qumran. When you compare the Qumran Isaiah text, the faithfulness of the scribes that copied the 66-chapter long Isaiah text, that is now for our 21st century disciples, it is a confirmation of the faithful transmission of God’s word from the 2nd Century B.C.E., all the way to our own days. The word of God is trust worthy and proven a thousand times over, to be true and faithful, by every possible parameter; science, archaeology, prophecy, and above all by the history and fulfillment of God’s promises throughout the history of Israel. The very transmission of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation at least from around 200 B.C., until now, is a miracle not repeated in the annals of human history. Yes, we have older documents that speak of creation, and the flood, but there is no living, breathing, tribe or nation or documented existing descendants who claim that they are the people of whom their ancient documents were recorded. This chain of transmission from father to son, from a tribe, to a nation, from a nation to the whole world, is a unique and special in world history. The most wonderful of all is that today in the 21st Century, with all the technology and the landing of man on the moon, and cellular phones in the hands of toddlers who don’t know yet how to read and write, - the message and the echo of that message given by the God who created the heavens and the Earth, is still reverberating both in the hearts of the Jewish people; but not only of the Jewish people, but also of a vast majority of the millions of Christians around the whole Earth. Thinking about this historical chain of transmission from God to man, from man to man, from man nation, from nation to the whole world is a living chain that reminds me of Aretha Franklin’s song: (Chain, chain, chain) God can and has used fools [in the sight of the world. Noah was a fool, Abraham was a fool, Moses was a fool, Jesus was a fool to die for such a foolish people as you and me.] Chain of fools! For (five) [] long years, I thought you were my man, But I found out I'm [We are] just a link in your chain. Oh, you got me where you want me! [In the eyes of this world] I ain't nothin' but your fool. [ When I was bad and disobedient] You treated me mean! Oh, you treated me cruel [[exile to Babylon and Inquisition and holocaust]] …Chain, chain, chain, Chain of fools! Every chain has got a weak link! I [] might be weak, yeah! [You said:] But I'll give you strength, oh, hey, you told me to leave you alone… My father said, "Come on home" - My doctor said, "Take it easy” … Oh, but your lovin' is much too strong!” You see dear brothers and sisters the Lord chose to use us, the earthen vessels that He created in his own image and in the image of the ONE who was with the Creator even before the Creation of the world. We might seem to be weak and divided and not able to fit the challenges that stand before us, but we, the disciples of the Messiah, the children of God, sanctified by the blood of the lamb, (We are just a week before Passover) and with our weakness and sometimes feeling like fools; we are still the only vehicle and a part of that chain that started from Abraham. We, the disciples of Yeshua the Messiah, are still the only tool that the Creator has devised to transmute and preserve and restore the original question that man, all men and women, are being asked by God, Ayecka! = Where are you? This is the question that the Voice (the Word) of God that was walking in the Garden after Adam and Eve sinned, asked Adam and Eve. This is one of the essential questions that all of humanity must ask itself; “Where are you?” Where are you in relationship to the Creator and in relationship to the Creation and in relationship to your people and tribe and nation, and this blue ball called EARTH? I would like to end this prayer list with a quotation from the Mishnah (Rabbinical collection of sayings from Rabbis who lived around 80 B.C.E. to 210 C.E.). The tractate is called Avot = Fathers, and the quotation is from Avot, chapter 3:1. “Akabyah ben Mahalale”l said: Mark well three things and you will not come under the power of sin: Know from where you come, and where you are going, and before whom you are destined to give an account and reckoning. From where do you come? From a putrid drop (of semen). Where are you going? To a place of dust, of worm and of maggot. Before whom you are destined to give an account and reckoning? Before the King of the Kings, the Holy One, blessed be he.” These words are repeated in every Jewish burial in the cemetery. In such an occasion, when you are going to bury your dead friends or family members, you hear these words and they enter into your intestines and you can’t help it to ask yourself these questions. Your life goes by you like a very fast forward movie and you ask yourself as a disciple of Yeshua (The Messiah) “What am I doing here in this life?” “Where am I going?” “What do I belong to?” “Who do I belong to?” “What is going to happen to me after I die?” I don’t want to be like the guy from the song “16 Tons and what do I get …”. I want to be a part of that chain. A part of the race and transfer and pass on the baton in the race to the next generation, and be a witness of God’s faithfulness to keep His promises. I would like to sing! “Standing on the promises of Christ my King, Thro’ eternal ages let His praises ring; Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing, Standing on the promises of God. Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God my Savior; Standing, standing, I’m standing on the promises of God.” I hope and pray that you too are standing on the promises of God, and being a part of that human chain that receives and passes on the good news that God loves us, human beings. Since we are just before the Passover Feast, let me share with you a verse that gives us the purpose of all the hard work and preparation for the Passover! Please notice that the whole feast is for your children and the hard work of cleaning and preparing and the ceremony is all for your children; for the next generation, for the CHAIN to keep going, for the transmission of God’s love and revelation! “For the LORD will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the LORD will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you. And you shall observe this thing as an ordinance for you and your sons forever. It will come to pass when you come to the land which the LORD will give you, just as He promised, that you shall keep this service. And it shall be, when your children say to you, “What do you mean by this service?’ that you shall say, “It is the Passover sacrifice of the LORD, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt when He struck the Egyptians and delivered our households.’” So the people bowed their heads and worshiped.” (Exodus 12:23–27 NKJV) I invite you to go to our website to enjoy more teachings:

A dear friend from Hong Kong, Bonnie, asked that we pray for her brother who lives in Australia. Bonnie’s brother’s name is Ray Chen. Please mention the name Ray Chen and ask God to show this man the grace of God and God’s powerful healing of body and soul and restoration of faith and life of holiness and sanctity.

Brazil
Pray for the congregations related to Netivyah in Brazil, to have the strength and stamina to face the challenges in front of them with courage and strength of faithfulness to the Lord, and to the vision of the restoration of the church and Israel.
Pray for the millions of victims of the Spanish and Portuguese Inquisition who have been forced to convert to the Catholic church, and now want to return home to the land of Israel and to the faith of our fathers.
Pray for the state of Israel to open the doors for these lost Jews to be able to return and fulfill God’s promises to the prophet Ovadyah:
“But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, And there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. The house of Jacob shall be a fire, And the house of Joseph a flame; But the house of Esau shall be stubble; They shall kindle them and devour them, And no survivor shall remain of the house of Esau, For the Lord has spoken. The South shall possess the mountains of Esau, And the Lowland shall possess Philistia. They shall possess the fields of Ephraim And the fields of Samaria. Benjamin shall possess Gilead. And the captives of this host of the children of Israel Shall possess the land of the Canaanites As far as Zarephath. The captives of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad Shall possess the cities of the South. Guilherme Antonio Nothen Becker, who is suffering from back problems. Aratuza de Oliveira his wife. Pray for this 3-year-old child that has serious problems with his eyes and ask the Lord to give healing to his eyes. This child’s name is Caique de Oliveira Becker.
Pray for Bernardo Antonio Nothen Becker. Bernardo is addicted to gambling and playing poker. This caused deep sorrow to his family.
Fernanda Nothen Becker, our dear sister has problems with her job that cause her pressure and challenges. Pray for the social situation in Fernanda’s work to turn and her suffering to turn into joy and friendship.
A 70-year-old Pastor Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias, He is the father of a dear sister in Brazil, and suffers from diabetes.
Pray for Roberto Morias, a dear brother who is going through heart surgery and an angiogram.

Pray for Bee Kim’s younger sister who suffered a massive stroke on 26 February on her 71st birthday and has not regained consciousness till now.

In India, Pastor Isaac, from Chennai, needs our prayers. Pastor Isaac is suffering from kidney problems and has to have dialysis several times per week.

Please pray for Ruby K. from Hong Kong. Ruby has gone through a very complicated surgery for multiple cancers in her body. The surgery was very long, and Ruby is back home now recovering. Please lift Ruby K. and ask the Lord to heal and deliver Ruby from Hong Kong.

Pray for Noaam my granddaughter. She is working two jobs now and needs good health and wisdom to make the right choices and plans for life, education, immigration to Israel, and just general protection from all harm.
Pray for David Young the preacher in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, who is back to preaching after recovering from medical issues. Please keep David in your prayers.
Pray for Ruby Little, our dear and faithful sister who has cancer and has stopped receiving medical treatment for the cancer that she has. Please pray for Ruby that the Lord will heal and strengthen her and provide for all her needs both medically and socially.
Aaron Hook, Nancy Hook’s oldest son, needs our prayers for wisdom and healing from past issues of life.
Lift for blessing and healing Jonathan B. and his wife Aviva and their new baby, his mother, and his brother Daniel. Pray for these very important men of God: Rabbi Salt, his family, and Rabbi Hasselblad. They are both older and need protection and blessings.
Pray a blessing for a dear sister Angela Isby and her situation. Pray for Tiz H. and Lion H.
Also pray for Ilana Avramov who is married to my cousin Nissim and lives in New York City. Ilana has fallen and in now in rehab learning how to walk again. We pray for her full recovery. She and Nissim both need our prayers.
Joseph Mock, a young man in his 30s, a dear brother that was named after me, has leukemia in an advanced stage. He is in the hospital and needs our urgent prayers. Joseph Mock is the son of Steve Mock, who is also one of the faithful disciples of Yeshua who became a believer in the early years of Netivyah.
Steve Mock is also in need of our prayers. He had a massive stroke and now he cannot speak, and has other limitations. Please keep Steve Mock also in your prayers, and pray for his wife Josse for strength and blessings and good health.
Pray for three women of God in Canada who need healing, Lynda, Sandy and Joanne.
Please pray for Netivyah and for the good work that Netivyah is doing in Israel and around the world.
We need more workers because of the challenges and needs and opportunities to bless the King Yeshua and His Kingdom down here on Earth and bless the poor people of Jerusalem visit here do what they can and produce more materials, books, and magazines.
We ask you to join us in prayer that the right young people, talented and anointed by the Spirit of God will come and work with us, and the provision to pay the Netivyah workers a fair and just payment.
I pray that the Lord will inspire and motivate brothers and sisters and ministries who can help with this to visit here do what they can to make it possible for us to double or more than double, the number of people and families that we serve.
