하나님께 가장 중요한 것은 무엇인가?
이번 안식일에 토라, 선지서(하프타라), 신약성경에서 읽는 부분은 신명기 21:10~25:19, 이사야 54:1-10, 마태복음 24:29-42입니다. 이 토라 포션의 이름은 “키 테쩨”입니다. 이 토라 포션의 첫 절은 이렇게 시작됩니다: “네가 나가서 적군과 싸울 때에 네 하나님 여호와께서 그들을 네 손에 넘기시므로 네가 그들을 사로잡은 후에” 토라가 The Jerusalem Prayer List – August 25, 2023

What is Most Important to God?
The reading from the Torah, the Prophets (The Haftarah) and the New Testament, this Shabbat, are from Deuteronomy 21:10-25:19, and from the prophets, Isaiah 54:1-10, and from the Gospel, Matthew 24:29-42. The name of this Torah portion is “Ki Teze.” The first verse of our reading starts: “When you go out to war against your enemies, and the LORD your God delivers them into your hand, and you take them captive…”. This unique list of commands that the Torah prescribes for the Israeli soldiers and military leaders is a revelation for all of us. This is, for me, a clear glimpse of what is most important for God! We have an enemy that wants to delete us from the face of God’s earth and we have a war with the cruel and powerful enemy that has only one goal: to destroy Israel, and kill Israelites. We fight and we have victory and the first instruction and command that God gives us is: you have rights. But you must control your passion and your appetites, and your desires, and put them under control with restraint and take into account the needs of your captives. Don’t be an animal that thinks that because the Lord has given you victory over your enemy you can do with the captives of your enemy as you wish. Our history as Israel in our Land, in the Land that God gave to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as an eternal inheritance, has seen some horrors and atrocities that would make you so sick that you wouldn’t be able to eat for a few days without vomiting. Just think of the reports of what the Russian Army and the Wagner Group has been doing in Ukraine right in the last year. Indiscriminate public rape of women, with no restraint or respect for young girls, and boys. Grandmothers being gang raped by multiple soldiers and then mutilated in the eyes of their family members. For Jews today, it should be known that in the Bible, that the Jewishness of Jews was decided by who the father is. But today, the Jewishness of a person is decided by who the mother is. This happened in the first half of the 2nd century A.D. It happened because at the fall of Jerusalem and Judea, the Roman legions mass raped the Jewish women. There were thousands of babies born to raped Jewish girls and women. If the men continued to decide who is a Jew, than all these babies born to Jewish mothers would have not been recognized as Jews, and the tragedy would have multiplied the horror and tragedy. The Torah puts a limit to the right of the victorious side in war as to what can or cannot be done with the captives of those who lost the war. The Torah teaches the following in our portion of the Torah: 1) You see a woman from the enemy that you desire. You can’t just take her for the satisfaction of your passion. 2) Before you can have relationship with her, you must get married to her legally and bring her to your house. 3) You have to leave her alone and not have sex with this woman for one month. This would allow her to morn for her situation and get used to you and your home before you are allowed to have sexual relationship with her. I just want you to read this Torah portion and get the difference in this God given law, and the practice of war; not only in the ancient world, but even in the 20th and 21st, centuries A.D. Just think of the Armenian Holocaust in the beginning of the 20th Century. Think of the fact that many countries, and may be even your country, has not yet condemned Turkey for the rape and murder of both men and boys and girls and mothers, and even grandmothers, of over 1million people in Armenia. There are many countries that have not condemned Turkey or demanded reparations for the families of the Armenian victims. The Turks are not the only ones. The American soldiers in Viet Nam, and Russian soldiers in Ukrainian conflict, are going completely free. The barbarian, and worse than animal behavior, of so-called Christians in war situations in our own time is still going completely free from any punitive and criminal condemnation of their barbarian actions. We have The Word of God that is at least 3000 years old, that already teaches us that we can’t act like animals just because we win a war against a bad and cruel enemy that wants to delete us from the face of the world. Dear brothers and sisters, the Torah is miles above any of the ancient codes of law like the Code of Hammurabi, the Twelve Tables, and the Tang Code. These are some of the most famous ancient legal codes. There is no comparison between these famous laws and the God given Torah and the consideration for our human behavior even toward the enemy. Please read the rest of Deuteronomy chapter 21. Another very important command, from Deuteronomy chapter 22, takes the responsibility to take care for the animals of your neighbor and even the beasts of burden of your enemy. You can’t do what you want with your animals and even with the animals of your neighbor or a stranger. Here is the gist of these laws: “You shall not see your brother’s ox or his sheep going astray, and hide yourself from them; you shall certainly bring them back to your brother. And if your brother is not near you, or if you do not know him, then you shall bring it to your own house, and it shall remain with you until your brother seeks it; then you shall restore it to him. You shall do the same with his donkey, and so shall you do with his garment; with any lost thing of your brother’s, which he has lost and you have found, you shall do likewise; you must not hide yourself. “You shall not see your brother’s donkey or his ox fall down along the road, and hide yourself from them; you shall surely help him lift them up again.” (Deuteronomy 22:1–4 NKJV) I remind you dear brothers and sisters that these words of God, these laws of God, are so unique, even today, and they apply not only to the animals and lost pets of people whom you don’t know. According to God’s Word if you find a lost pet wondering in your street you can’t ignore it but you have to look for the owner and return the pet to the owner and if you can’t find the owner you ought to take care of this pet and seek your “brother” and make an effort to return the animal to his rightful owner. The Bible is thousands of years old and even today the laws and the instruction of the Torah are miles above in many of the countries in our world. There are other important teachings in our Torah portion every week and also this week, but I can’t make this prayer list too long. I just have to point out some of these important and wonderful and essential instructions from God. Keep reading the Word of God. The best is read from the Torah and from the Prophets and what we, the disciples of Yeshua, have added to the traditional reading from the New Testament. In just a few months of practicing the reading of God’s Word you will be surprised what is going to happen to you both spiritually and physically. Suddenly you will be gaining confidence in your faith and relationship to the Almighty. Another very important word that takes a central stage in Yeshua’s teaching, is from our Torah portion. “When a man takes a wife and marries her, and it happens that she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some uncleanness in her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house, when she has departed from his house, and goes and becomes another man’s wife, if the latter husband detests her and writes her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house, or if the latter husband dies who took her as his wife, then her former husband who divorced her must not take her back to be his wife after she has been defiled; for that is an abomination before the LORD, and you shall not bring sin on the land which the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.” (Deuteronomy 24:1–4 NKJV) The misunderstanding of this text by many Christian pastors and teachers has caused great damage to many marriages in their Protestant / Evangelical / and Messianic Congregations. All of Yeshua’s teaching and Paul the Apostle, is contingent on understanding this text and the important place that this text had in the debates and Rabbinical arguments on divorce. Let me bring here a Jewish Rabbinical understanding of this text: This is a commentary written by one of my favorite Jewish Rabbinical commentators of the Bible. “Because a man will take a wife, even though according to God, the intention of this text come to teach only that he should not bring back his ex-wife after she has married another man, and now wants to come back to her first husband who divorced her earlier. If a man divorces his wife and sends her away, he needs to know all the laws that apply to divorce. The cause of the spirit of jealousy that comes and suspicion that comes over the man that his wife fornicates under her husband and might marry a second husband she ought to know that her first husband cannot take her back. The point of this text in Deuteronomy is that if a man finds in his wife something ‘unseemly’, some sexual wrongdoing, and divorces her, he can’t later, after she fornicated, remarry her. The reason given by first century Rabbis is that once the trust is broken between a husband and his wife, this union is finished and he can’t and ought not marry the same woman again. There no forbidding of marriage to another woman, or for the other side to another man, but the teaching of Yeshua (Jesus) in Matthew 19 is like the Rabbis of his day, that the woman can’t return to her first husband even if he might desire her to return to him.” Another very famous Rabbi Rashi wrote: “WHEN A MAN HATH TAKEN A WIFE, AND MARRIED HER, AND IT COMES TO PASS THAT SHE FINDS NO FAVOUR IN HIS EYES.] BECAUSE HE HATH FOUND SOME SCANDALOUS THING IN HER; [THEN LET HIM WRITE A BILL OF DIVORCEMENT … AND SEND HER AWAY.” We ought to remember that Yeshua is teaching the same thing; the divorce includes the fulfillment the Bill of Divorcement. A contract is made with the woman that guarantees that if she is divorced by her husband for any reason, there will be a financial and property settlement by the husband as agreed contractually before the marriage. This document is a part of the process of marriage and it is absolutely commanded by the Torah and Yeshua’s teaching on divorce is absolutely supporting the Torah Teaching and requirement. “Furthermore, it has been said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’” (Matthew 5:31 NKJV) “They said to Him, “Why then did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce and put her away?” He said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.” (Matthew 19:7–8 NKJV) All the teaching of Yeshua on divorce is based on this text from our Torah reading this Shabbat, from Deuteronomy 24. It is so important to know this and always look at where Yeshua and the Apostles got their information. Just to reveal to you a secret: Yeshua and the Apostles didn’t get their information and inspiration from the Christian Fathers of the Catholic Church. They all got their sources and information from the Hebrew Bible, and the Holy Spirit. Read the Word of God, dear brothers, and the best way is to start is in Genesis 1 and read a chapter every day; just one chapter. Don’t jump around from one book to the other. Just read chapter after chapter and you will be surprised what this does for your life and faith. God chose to provide His revelation to man, in a text, written text, so that we can apply the rules of reading any text. There is order. A beginning and an end, and what is in between the beginning and the end makes sense only when it is approached in the order that the writer intended. Please pray for Israel. In the last 48 hours Israel entered into the city of Gennin – a terrorist hothouse. More than 18 Jews were killed in the last two months by terrorists that came out of the city of Gennin.
As I am writing this prayer list – I am also watching television and seeing the operation that the Israeli Military is conducting in this nest of snakes called Gennin. Praise the Lord that from the several thousand Israeli soldiers no one has been killed or wounded in the last 48 hours.
We need to pray that this continues to be the case. We need to pray for the World to understand and see that Israel is dealing with people that at least their leadership, is not interested in peace. They are radical Islamists who are only driven by hate for Israel and for Jews and peace is the last thing on their minds.
Our government was holding back for months from opening this Pandora’s box and getting rid of the terrorists that are not only killing Jews and terrorizing the peaceful Israeli population, but also preventing their own people from working in Israel in good paying jobs provides honorable living for their families.
I hate that our boys, the men of our congregation, still serve in the Army and most of them in reserves have to fight and use weapons and do war in order to protect the civilian population of Israel from terrorism driven by hate and blindness.
Please pray for the Middle East and for the world to see and understand what the reality is here in this part of the world. The land that provided King David, and the prophets and Yeshua the Messiah – wants peace with our neighbors.
But they don’t want the hand that is stretched out in peace. They want to kill all the Jews and take their land, that is flourishing and being a blessing for all the world, and make it a dump like their own place in Gaza and in the Arab countries.
In Jerusalem pray for the following brothers and sisters who are in need of divine grace and the gentle touch of the hand of God for healing and strength.
Ilana Ahijervie, a dear sister who is 98 years old and suffering from memory problems.
Sarit, a sister born in Jerusalem, over 88 years old, lives alone. Has no close family, and suffers from several old-age illnesses.
Yehuda Hochman, is a dear older brother living in the Negev desert with some illness that needs healing.
Please keep praying for Marcia Shulam my wife. Pray that Marcia’s memory will stop weakening, and that her arthritis be healed and stop being active, and her strength to return to where she can take more care of herself.
Please pray for people in the prayer list: as you can see, we pray for people in every continent, because we have brothers and sisters around the world, and our interest is not only for ourselves, but for God’s people in the north and south, east and west, even in the far islands of the oceans. A dear friend from Hong Kong, Bonnie, asked that we pray for her brother who lives in Australia. Bonnie’s brother’s name is Ray Chen. Please mention the name Ray Chen and ask God to show this man the grace of God and God’s powerful healing of body and soul and restoration of faith and life of holiness and sanctity.

Pray for Keijo and Salme, our dear partners and fellow workers in God’s flock. Both Keijo and Salme have some challenging heart issues.
Sipra, our dear sister in Nokia who is a widow with some health issues.
Satu-Maria, Sinni Tuuli, Anne Mirjami, our dear sisters, and all our other brothers and sisters in Finland who need our prayers: Eva H., Patty, Andrea, Julia and Victor, and Aaron Tani, and Hillel.
Please don’t forget to pray for the health of Kari Antilles in Finland. He is a dear brother and supporter in prayer for Netivyah for many years.
Brazil
Pray for the congregations related to Netivyah in Brazil, to have the strength and stamina to face the challenges in front of them with courage and strength of faithfulness to the Lord, and to the vision of the restoration of the church and Israel.
Pray for the millions of victims of the Spanish and Portuguese Inquisition who have been forced to convert to the Catholic church, and now want to return home to the land of Israel and to the faith of our fathers.
Pray for the state of Israel to open the doors for these lost Jews to be able to return and fulfill God’s promises to the prophet Ovadyah:
“But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, And there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. The house of Jacob shall be a fire, And the house of Joseph a flame; But the house of Esau shall be stubble; They shall kindle them and devour them, And no survivor shall remain of the house of Esau, For the Lord has spoken. The South shall possess the mountains of Esau, And the Lowland shall possess Philistia. They shall possess the fields of Ephraim And the fields of Samaria. Benjamin shall possess Gilead. And the captives of this host of the children of Israel Shall possess the land of the Canaanites As far as Zarephath. The captives of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad Shall possess the cities of the South. Guilherme Antonio Nothen Becker, who is suffering from back problems. Aratuza de Oliveira his wife. Pray for this 3-year-old child that has serious problems with his eyes and ask the Lord to give healing to his eyes. This child’s name is Caique de Oliveira Becker.
Pray for Bernardo Antonio Nothen Becker. Bernardo is addicted to gambling and playing poker. This caused deep sorrow to his family.

Fernanda Nothen Becker, our dear sister has problems with her job that cause her pressure and challenges. Pray for the social situation in Fernanda’s work to turn and her suffering to turn into joy and friendship.
A 70-year-old Pastor Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias, He is the father of a dear sister in Brazil, and suffers from diabetes.
Pray for Roberto Morias, a dear brother who is going through heart surgery and an angiogram.

Please pray for a dear 71-year-old sister called Bee Kim. She lost consciousness on February 26, 2023. She has not regained her consciousness after a massive stroke.

In India, Pastor Isaac, from Chennai, needs our prayers. Pastor Isaac is suffering from kidney problems and has to have dialysis several times per week.

Please pray for Ruby K. from Hong Kong. Ruby has gone through a very complicated surgery for multiple cancers in her body. The surgery was very long, and Ruby is back home now recovering. Please lift Ruby K. and ask the Lord to heal and deliver Ruby from Hong Kong.

Pray for Noaam my granddaughter. She is working two jobs now and needs good health and wisdom to make the right choices and plans for life, education, immigration to Israel, and just general protection from all harm.

Please pray for our dear sister Ruby Little who begins to get Hospice Care for her cancer situation.
Aaron Hook, Nancy Hook’s oldest son, needs our prayers for wisdom and healing from past issues of life.
Lift for blessing and healing Jonathan B. and his wife Aviva and their new baby, his mother, and his brother Daniel. Pray for these very important men of God: Rabbi Salt, his family, and Rabbi Hasselblad. They are both older and need protection and blessings.
Pray a blessing for a dear sister Angela Isby and her situation. Pray for Tiz H. and Lion H.
Also pray for Ilana Avramov who is married to my cousin Nissim and lives in New York City. Ilana has fallen and in now in rehab learning how to walk again. We pray for her full recovery. She and Nissim both need our prayers.
Joseph Mock, a young man in his 30s, a dear brother that was named after me, has leukemia in an advanced stage. He is in the hospital and needs our urgent prayers. Joseph Mock is the son of Steve Mock, who is also one of the faithful disciples of Yeshua who became a believer in the early years of Netivyah.
Steve Mock is also in need of our prayers. He had a massive stroke and now he cannot speak, and has other limitations. Please keep Steve Mock also in your prayers, and pray for his wife Josse for strength and blessings and good health.
Pray for three women of God in Canada who need healing, Lynda, Sandy and Joanne.
I am asking a special prayer for a dear brother and friend who is now doing a greatly important work in a very dangerous and precarious part of the world. Just mention DadyLion in your prayers, and ask for divine protection and angelic accompaniment for this man of God.

We ask you to join us in prayer that the right young people, talented and anointed by the Spirit of God will come and work with us, and the provision to pay the Netivyah workers a fair and just payment.
I pray that the Lord will inspire and motivate brothers and sisters and ministries who can help with this to visit here do what they can to make it possible for us to double or more than double, the number of people and families that we serve.
