예루살렘 기도 목록 – 2020년 8월 20일

매주 회당에서 읽는 토라 포션은 우리 시대, 형세와 관련이 많은 것 같습니다. 이번 주 안식일에 읽는 부분은 파라샷 쇼프팀, 신명기 16:18~21:9입니다. 이 파라샤의 이름은 첫 구절에서 왔습니다:

“네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 주시는 각 성에서 네 지파를 따라 재판장들과 지도자들을 둘 것이요 그들은 공의로 백성을 재판할 것이니라.” - 신명기 16:18

여러분은 저희 이스라엘 정부의 체질이 얼마나 불안정한지, 요즈음 어떤 소란을 일으키고 있는지 상상하실 수 있으실 것입니다! 저희 네타냐후 수상과 간츠 예비수상은 이 나라를 14개월 동안 네 번째 선거로 이끌어가고 있고, 그들의 주요 이슈는 판사들과 법무부 장관 같은 각 행정부 장관 임명문제입니다.

네타냐후 수상은 그에 대한 소송이 기각되도록 여건을 유리하게 마련하고 싶어 합니다. 그는 그의 사건을 처리할 판사와 여타 모든 사람을 임명할 전권을 갖고 싶어 합니다.

그러니, 요즈음 충돌의 길에 들어선 폭발물을 실은 두 대형 차량 네타냐후와 간츠 사이에 있는 이스라엘을 위해 기도해 주시기 바랍니다. 저는 선하신 주님께서 이스라엘 이 나라에 긍휼을 베풀어 주시기를, 그것도 다음 일요일 전 마지막 순간에 합리성과 지혜가 이 나라의 두 지도자 간츠와 네타냐후를 사로잡아 이 나라의 유익이 다른 모든 이슈나 고려사항보다 우선되기를 기도합니다.

이번 안식일에 선지자의 글에서 읽는 말씀도 이스라엘과 세계정세와 아주 관련이 있습니다. 우리는 이사야 51:12~52:12를 읽을 것입니다. 선지서 중 이 부분은 히브리달력의 여섯 번째 달 엘룰월이 시작되는 안식일에 읽는데요, 엘룰월은 히브리력의 신년인 나팔절을 비롯하여 열흘 후 욤키푸르(속죄일)와 그로부터 나흘 후 초막절 등 큰 절기의 직전 달입니다.

그래서 엘룰월은 심령을 살피고 회개하는 달, 속죄일을 준비하는 달입니다. 그렇게 토라와 선지서에서 읽는 말씀은 우리 시대와 시절에 아주 관련성이 큽니다. 토라 포션은 이 말씀으로 시작됩니다:

“네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 주시는 각 성에서 네 지파를 따라 재판장들과 지도자들을 둘 것이요 그들은 공의로 백성을 재판할 것이니라 너는 재판을 굽게 하지 말며 사람을 외모로 보지 말며 또 뇌물을 받지 말라 뇌물은 지혜자의 눈을 어둡게 하고 의인의 말을 굽게 하느니라 너는 마땅히 공의만을 따르라 그리하면 네가 살겠고 네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 주시는 땅을 차지하리라.” - 신명기 16:18–20

지금과 같은 때에 이 하나님 말씀만큼 얼마나 더 적합할 수 있을까요? 고등법원부터 이스라엘 법무부의 검찰총장, 모든 검찰당국에 이르기까지 전 사법체계가 의문인 상황입니다!

토라는 생생히 살아 있으며 만물의 주님께서는 때와 시절을 그분의 손 안에 가지고 계십니다. 우리는 이것을 잊지 말아야 합니다. 아브라함, 이삭, 이스라엘의 전능하신 하나님께서 세상을 깨우시기 위해, 특별히 태평양 북부 연안의 밴쿠버섬에서부터 대서양 동부 연안 핼리팩스와 남극대륙에 이르기까지 이른바 “기독교권”을 깨우시기 위해 보내신 전 세계적 전염병이 창궐하는 지금과 같은 때는 더욱 잊지 말아야 합니다.

심각하게도 세상에 잃어버린 두 가지 요소가 있는데요, 진리와 정의입니다. 이 두 요소는 정치인들뿐만 아니라 기독교회 지도자들까지 감염시킨 정치적 옳음이라는 운동으로 희석되었습니다. 하나님의 약속들을 아는 사람들에게서 희망이 발견되고 있습니다:

“진리는 땅에서 솟아나고 의는 하늘에서 굽어보도다.”- 시편 85:11

똑같은 것을 말하고 똑같은 약속이 있는 다른 구절들도 많지만, 이 구절이 짧고 시적입니다. 코로나바이러스가 하나님의 세계를 감염시키는 것을 그칠 것이며, 전 세계적으로 훨씬 더 심각한 영적 바이러스도 끝날 것입니다.

하나님의 공의가 드러날 것이며 모든 눈이 시온으로 돌아오시는 인자를 보고 모든 무릎이 그분께 무릎 꿇을 것입니다. 마라나-타, 우리 주시여 어서 오시옵소서.

이 구절은 이사야 말씀입니다:

“여호와께 구속 받은 자들이 돌아와 노래하며 시온으로 돌아오니 영원한 기쁨이 그들의 머리 위에 있고 즐거움과 기쁨을 얻으리니 슬픔과 탄식이 달아나리이다 이르시되 너희를 위로하는 자는 나 곧 나이니라 너는 어떠한 자이기에 죽을 사람을 두려워하며 풀 같이 될 사람의 아들을 두려워하느냐?” - 이사야 51:11,12

저는 하나님 말씀을 100% 믿고 안심합니다. 저는 한쪽 눈만 가졌어도 하나님께서 그분의 약속을 지키시는 데에 얼마나 신실하신지 볼 수 있습니다. 우리 세계를 흔드는 찻잔 속의 태풍은 모두 하나님의 손 안에서는 아무 것도 아닙니다.

하나님께서는 바람과 바다와 별들과 해와 그분의 창조세계의 모든 것을 다스리십니다. 우리는 하나님의 약속들을 믿고, 그것들을 과도한 궤변이나 신학적 농담 없이 “액면” 그대로 받아들이는 것을 배워야 합니다. 주님을 믿고 바로 그분을 섬기며 따르고자 하는 사람들에게는 모든 것이 잘 될 것입니다.

이스라엘은 아직도 코로나바이러스와 싸우고 있는데요, 2차 창궐 중이며 매일 코로나바이러스 신규 확진자가 2,000명 가량 생기고 있습니다.

사망자수는 500명이 넘었고, 사망자의 평균연령은 82세입니다. 이것은 노인들과 당뇨병 같은 기저질환이 있는 사람들이 제일 위험하다는 것을 보여줍니다. 코로나바이러스가 어느 정도 변이된 것 같기는 합니다. 지금은 훨씬 더 젊은 사람들조차 고위험군에 들고 많은 사람들이 코로나바이러스 합병증으로 죽고 있습니다.

우리는 전 세계와 각자의 나라를 위해 그리고 거기에 이스라엘을 추가하여 기도해야 합니다. 저는 이 코로나바이러스가 이스라엘을 훈육하여 그들이 하나님과 더 좋은 관계로 회복되고 그들의 창조주를 더 존경하도록 하나님께서 보내셨던 성경의 다른 모든 염병 같은 전염병이라고 믿습니다. 이스라엘이 회개했을 때나 모세가 들어 올렸던 놋뱀을 바라보았을 때, 그들은 치유 받았습니다.

우리 모두는 우리 지도자들이 우리를 회개로, 죄와 허물을 고백하는 데로 이끌어 주님께서 이 코로나바이러스를 이 땅에서 거두시고, 우리가 주님을 기억하며 그분의 의와 진리의 길로 걸어가도록 기도합니다.

마르시아의 건강과 기억력과 당뇨와 류마티스 관절염을 위해 계속 기도해 주시기 바랍니다. 저희 딸 다나는 지금 처한 상황 때문에 여러분의 기도가 많이 필요하고, 저희 손녀 노아암도 그렇습니다. 여러분의 기도 가운데 다나와 노아암을 올려드려 주십시오. 역시 이 시기에 집에 있으면서 재택근무하고 있는 저희 아들 배리와 그의 가족 베쓰와 저희 손자 죠이도 올려드려 주십시오. 마르시아의 친정어머니 준은 91세시며 마르시아의 오빠들과 그들의 가족들도 모두 우리의 기도가 필요합니다.

브라질은 코로나바이러스와 사업계 상황이 별로 좋지 않은 양상이며, 사회적 불안도 큰 도전입니다. 브라질에 우리의 기도와 중보가 필요한 형제자매님들이 아주 많습니다.

이 힘든 때에 우리의 기도와 하나님의 은혜가 필요한 브라질 공동체와 형제자매님들 목록은 이렇습니다: 브라질에 있는 네티비야 자매 공동체들인 하르 찌온, 엔세냔도 데 시아오, 꾸리띠바에 있는 샤르 엘, 그리고 꾸리띠바시에 있는 다른 형제자매님들.

The Jerusalem Prayer List – August 20, 2020

Each week the reading of the Torah in the synagogues seems to have something relevant to our time and condition. This Shabbat the reading is Parashat Shoftim, Deuteronomy 16:18 – 21:9. The name of the parasha comes from the opening text:

“You shall appoint judges and officers in all your gates, which the Lord your God gives you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with just judgment.” - Deuteronomy 16:18 [NKJV]

You can imagine what the beef of our unstable Israeli government is and what they are fussing about these days! Our prime minister, Netanyahu, and the spare prime minister Mr. Ganz, are leading the country to a fourth election in 14 months, and one of their main issues is the appointment of judges and top administrators, like the attorney general of Israel.

Prime Minister Netanyahu wants to stack the cards so that the court case against him can be dismissed. He wants the exclusive right to appoint the judges and everyone else that is dealing with his case.

So, please pray for Israel these days because we are on a collision course between two large vessels loaded with explosives, Netanyahu and Ganz. I am praying that the good Lord will have mercy on the nation and people of Israel and that at the last moment before next Sunday, logic and wisdom will take over regarding both of our heads of state, Ganz and Netanyahu and the good of this nation will be placed above all other issues and considerations.

The reading from the Prophets this Shabbat is also of great relevance for Israel and for the world. We shall be reading from Isaiah 51:12 – 52:12. This section of the prophets that is read on Shabbat is at the opening of the month of Elul – the 6th Month of the Hebrew calendar, just before the High Holidays, starting with the feast of trumpets – the modern Jewish new year, and ten days later is Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) and four days later is the Feast of Sukkoth, Tabernacles.

So, the month of Elul is the month of soul-searching and repentance and preparation for the Day of Atonement. So, the reading of the Torah and of the prophets is very relevant to our times and seasons. The Torah portion starts with these words:

“You shall appoint judges and officers in all your gates, which the Lord your God gives you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with just judgment. You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality, nor take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous. You shall follow what is altogether just, that you may live and inherit the land which the Lord your God is giving you.” - Deuteronomy 16:18–20 [NKJV]

How much more relevant can the word of God be for such a time as this? We have a situation where the entire judicial system, from the High Court down to the Attorney General, and all of the prosecution departments of the Israeli Ministry of Justice is in question!

The Torah is alive and the Lord of all holds the times and the seasons in His hands. We must not forget this, especially now during this worldwide plague sent by the almighty God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel to wake the world, but especially the so called “Christian West” – From Vancouver Island on the north shores of the Pacific Ocean to Halifax on the east shore of the Atlantic Ocean, and all the way to Antarctica at the South Pole.

There are two ingredients seriously missing in the world, truth and justice. Both of these ingredients have been watered down by the politically correct movement that has infected not only the politicians but also the leadership of the Christian churches. There is hope to be found for those people who are aware of God’s promises:

“Truth shall spring out of the earth, And righteousness shall look down from heaven.”- Psalm 85:11 [NKJV]

There are many other texts that say the same thing and have the same divine promises, but this one is short and poetic. The coronavirus will cease to infect God’s world, and the spiritual virus that is much more serious around the whole world will also end.

God’s Righteousness will be revealed and every eye will see and every knee will bow down to the Son of Man returning to Zion. Marana – Ta, come quick our Lord.

These are the verses from Isaiah:

“So the ransomed of the Lord shall return, And come to Zion with singing, With everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness; Sorrow and sighing shall flee away. ‘I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you should be afraid Of a man who will die, And of the son of a man who will be made like grass?’” - Isaiah 51:11,12 [NKJV]

I have 100% security and trust in the words of our God. Even with one eye, I see how faithful He is to keep His promises. All the storms in a tea-cup that rock-and-roll our world are nothing in the hands of God.

He rules the winds and the sea and the stars and the Sun and all of His creation. We must learn to trust God’s promises and accept them at “face value” without too much sophism and theological giggling. All will be well with those who put their trust in the Lord and quickly seek to serve and follow Him.

Israel is still fighting the coronavirus and we are still in the second wave and around 2000 people in Israel are added every day to the list of those who have been infected with the coronavirus.

The number of dead has risen above 500 people, and the average age of the dead is 82 years old. This is a clear indication that those who are old and with pre-existing conditions like diabetes are at the greatest risk. Although it seems like the coronavirus has mutated some and now even much younger people are at high risk and many die with coronavirus complications.

We must pray for the whole world and each of us for his own country and to add Israel. I believe that this coronavirus is a plague like all the biblical plagues that God sent to educate Israel and restore them to a better relationship with Him, and to greater respect for their creator. When Israel repented or looked at the brass snake that Moses lifted up, they received healing.

Let us all pray and encourage our leaders to lead and point us toward repentance and to confession of our sins and weaknesses, so that the Lord will lift this coronavirus from off of this earth and we will remember the Lord and seek to walk in His paths of righteousness and truth.

Please keep praying for Marcia’s health, her memory, diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis. Danah our daughter, needs much prayer for her situation and so does our granddaughter Noaam. Please lift Danah and Noaam in your prayers. Please lift Barry our son and his family, Beth, and Joey our grandson who are also staying at home and working from home during this time. Marcia’s mother June is 91 years old and her brothers and their families all need our prayers.

Brazil is in bad shape with the coronavirus and the problems of the business community, and the social unrest is also a major challenge. We have so many brothers and sisters in Brazil that need our prayers and intercession on their behalf.

Here is a short list of communities and brothers and sisters in Brazil who need our prayers and God’s grace in these hard times: Pray for the sister communities of Netivyah in Brazil, Har Zion, Ensenando de Siao, and Sar-El in Curitiba and other brothers and sisters in the city of Curitiba.

There is another congregation of brothers and sisters in Curitiba led by brother Claus and brother Moses, please pray for these dear brothers also and for and the Messianic congregations in Fortaleza, Santa Maria, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and in other cities in Brazil. Pray for our dear older and more vulnerable brothers and partners in Brazil, Michelle O., Marcelo Guimaraes family and especially his father, Paulo, Marty Galante. The Resende family.

Pray for the healing of these brothers and sisters around the world: Sister Angela is in special need these days and her life is hanging on the mercy and grace of our Lord. Please lift sister Angela and T.J. her husband as they are battling their battle and are totally dependent on God’s mercy and healing. Keep Ruby Little in your prayers, our dear sister from Oklahoma City, who is also battling against cancer. Lift up in prayer the following brothers and sisters:

Samuel Lopes a 17-year-old boy who is going through an extremely hard time now. Pray for Rachael and Daniel a brother and sister who need jobs and emotional healing.

Lift these brothers and sisters in your prayer: Angela Isby, Aries Franklin Mayers Sr., and Tony Black. Keep praying for Nancy, Don and their son Aaron Hook, Rachel David Kim’s wife – Jingyung Lee, Dr. Yuizawa , Tiz H., Lion H., Michael Schiffman, Joe Mays, Ilana Abramov, Cynthia Parveen’s sister, David Stern and his family, Anne West who is now 100 years old. Keep praying for Gary, Melanie (Melanie’s brother Neil has just passed away from the coronavirus in New York City.)

Please see your prayer as casting a vote for healing before the Lord and His angels in Heaven in favor of every brother and sister that you are praying for. It is an act of love and reconciliation to carry before the throne of Mercy those dear people who are seeking peace and righteousness looking toward the Lord for mercy and healing.

Keep praying for Guilherme Antonio Nathan Becker and his wife Artuza de Oliviera, also add Rachael and Daniel Webster and Lizette Nancy, and Jose Carlos from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

By praying for people who are your brothers and sisters, and whom you do not know personally, you are exercising the right to be God’s ambassador in what is called “agape love.”

“Agape love” is the highest form of love, a love that does not look for earthly rewards or give and take, but just does the service of intercession in the kingdom of God.

You will be blessed by the Almighty God who gives each of His children good for the good we do and recompense for the bad we do. Your sincere prayers for people around the world do the following things for the Kingdom, the King, and for the body of the Messiah:

1. They unite you and the body in a major transcendent bond of prayer.

2. They demonstrate the oneness of the people of God.

3. Your prayer shows that there are people outside the realm of the physical world and personal interests who have a sincere bond and relationship that is heavenly and not earthly.

4. The Lord knows His children and gives credit and reward according to His promises.

These are brothers and sisters from around the world that need a little more grace from our Father in Heaven, Reuven and Clil who the Lord willing will be on their way home to Israel this weekend. Keep them both in your prayers. Their return home is what I have asked you to pray for in the last few weeks and the Lord is answering our prayers. God keep them safe and bring them back home.

We have brothers and sisters in Israel and in China and I ask you to pray for their safety and protection: Deborah Ruth, Lydia, Sima, Laurel S., Naomi, Orna, David S., Daniel, Dalia D., Ayla, Hillel, Elhanan, Tony, Dr. Song, Michael Knezevich, Ismael Alves, Asher Gabriel, M. Ahuva. Please pray for a dear brother who is well into his 90’s and lost his wife a couple of weeks ago. His name is Dov H.

Pray for Israel. We are going through terrible riots and violence in the streets of Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv and other places around the country. These riots are motivated by the fact that much of the populace of Israel does not understand what the government is doing in relationship to the coronavirus pandemic.

Businesses are closing and bankruptcy is happening to old established companies and businesses and even our national airline is on the verge of bankruptcy. People do not have money to put food on their tables. The number of people in need of basic food is growing.

Netivyah has been feeding the poor of Jerusalem for more than 25 years and we have a highly appreciated humanitarian ministry that is working with the Jerusalem municipality. As the demands for food for people who never before needed such help grows, I pray that the Lord will inspire and motivate brothers and sisters and ministries who can help with this to go to the webpage: www.netivyah.org and do what they can to make it possible for us to double or more than double, the number of people and families that we serve.

Our prime minister’s case is still before the courts. I am not happy that this is happening in Israel, but I am praying that true justice and righteousness is exhibited in our court system. The truth must come out and I am not interested in a second prime ministry of Israel to go to jail. We have had a president in jail, and finance minister in Jail, a minister of interior affair in Jail, and member of the parliament in jail. Enough!

The world is in a terrible flux as millions of people are dealing with this coronavirus and hundreds of thousands of families have already lost their loved ones to this plague of biblical proportions. Still, we also need to be grateful for countries like Israel who are beginning to come out and return to normality with caution and care.

From our congregation in Jerusalem we ask you to join us in prayer for the following dear brothers and sisters: Gary, Melanie, Sarit, Gabriela, Ahuva, Leah, Ilana, Hannah, young Gabriela, Zvi D. and Bathsheba, Jonathan B. and his wife Aviva and their new baby.

Pray for some dear friends, Rabbi Morton Salt, and his family and Rabbi Hasselblad. They are both older and need protection and blessings. Pray also for the Orthodox Rabbinical group called Tzoaar. A group of courageous Rabbis in Israel who want to see a restoration of Torah values and a more uncomplicated approach to Jewish values and life-style. They are doing a great job in bringing the reality of the Torah into practice in the 21st century.

I was asked by brothers and sisters of the Messianic congregation, Shoresh David (The Root of David) in Portland, Oregon, to pray for Portland. Anarchist elements have taken the center of Portland, OR, and turned it into chaos, and disorder. So, please pray for Portland, OR, and for our brothers and sisters in that city.

The coronavirus is threatening the economy of the world with a great recession and depression. Some of our major supporters have already lowered the amount of their support. They have done this not only toward Netivyah, but for all the ministries that they are supporting, and they are many. I would like to first ask you to pray about your part in supporting Netivyah Bible Instruction Ministry.

Second, I would like for you who stand with us in prayer and financially to do your absolute best to stay on board with us and communicate. We realize that times will be hard for several years, but we also realize that God has chosen and blessed you for such a time as this. 
 

I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish! The best is yet to come!
