예루살렘에서 격리 중인 요셉 슐람

예슈아의 제자들인 우리는 모든 구름 안에서 광명을 보아야 합니다. 이스라엘에서 코로나바이러스 팬데믹 대혼란이 시작된 지 한 달이 조금 넘었습니다. 부림절 직전에 시작되어 지금은 유월절이 지났습니다.

이번 안식일에 우리는 두 토라 포션을 읽습니다: 같은 안식일에 연속된 두 포션을 읽는 것인데요, 레위기 12:1~13:59 타즈리아, 레위기 14:1~15:33 메쪼라입니다. 선지자의 글에서도 열왕기하 4:42~5:19와 열왕기하 7:3-20, 신약성경에서도 마가복음 15:1-16과 로마서 6:8-23 두 포션을 읽습니다.

네, 전 세계 회당에서 읽는 하나님의 말씀 분량이 많습니다. 메시아 예슈아의 제자들인 우리에게는 신약성경에서 읽는 부분이 더 있습니다. 그 이유는 간단합니다. 상품이 언제나 상품을 파는 세일즈맨보다 더 중요하기 때문입니다.

랍비나 목사는 단지 세일즈맨일 뿐입니다. 우리가 함께 모이는 이유는 하나님으로부터 말씀을 들으려는 것입니다. 목사는 단지 세일즈맨일 뿐입니다. 그래서 우리는 우리에게 영감을 주고 우리를 가르치고 우리를 감동시켜 선행을 하고 하나님의 지혜를 나누게 하기 위해 하나님의 말씀에 많은 시간을 들입니다.

이제 토라 포션으로 가자면, 레위기 12장의 첫 부분은 출산한 여성에게 지시하는 것입니다.

누가복음 2:21-24에서 우리는 이 말씀을 읽습니다:

“할례할 팔 일이 되매 그 이름을 예수라 하니 곧 잉태하기 전에 천사가 일컬은 바러라 모세의 법대로 정결예식의 날이 차매 아기를 데리고 예루살렘에 올라가니 이는 주의 율법에 쓴 바 첫 태에 처음 난 남자마다 주의 거룩한 자라 하리라 한 대로 아기를 주께 드리고 또 주의 율법에 말씀하신 대로 산비둘기 한 쌍이나 혹은 어린 집비둘기 둘로 제사하려 함이더라.” – 누가복음2:21-24

본문 24절 “주의 율법에 말씀하신 대로”라고 말할 때, 이것은 이번 안식일에 읽는 레위기 12장 말씀을 가리키는 것입니다. 누가복음의 이 짧은 말씀은 대부분의 기독교인들에게는 눈을 뜨게 해주는 놀라운 말씀이어야 합니다.

누가는 우리(사도바울과 예루살렘으로 바울과 함께 여행한 이들의 사역의 결실인, 메시아 예슈아의 이방인 제자들)에게 뭘 말하려는 것일까요? 첫째 누가는 우리가 우리 주 예슈아께서 생후 8일째에 할례를 받은 전형적인 유대인이시라는 것을 분명히 알게 하고 있습니다.

둘째, 예슈아와 그분의 가족은 부유하지 않았다는 것입니다. 그들은 주님께 산비둘기 두 마리를 드렸습니다. 누가가 우리에게 분명이 알게 하는 세 번째 것은 예슈아께서 예루살렘 성전에서 그분의 어머니 마리아와 함께 온당한 정결예식을 모두 거쳤다는 것입니다.

이것이 왜 모든 기독교인에게 중요합니까? 그 이유는 전통적인 교회인 로마 가톨릭과 콘스탄티노플 정교회와, 독일, 프랑스, 영국, 네덜란드, 그리고 지금 미국의 개신교는 그들의 역사 속에 교회가 예루살렘으로부터, 그리고 아브라함의 자손이며 다윗의 자손 하나님의 아들 예슈아, 유대인의 왕으로부터 멀어지도록 놔두었기 때문입니다.

뿌리에서 멀어짐으로써 교회는 그들 주변에 잡초가 많이 자라게 하고, 생명을 주는 아들을 가리게 놔두었습니다. 여러분에게 본연의 성자가 없으면, 여러분은 나무나 금이나 은이나 플라스틱으로 만든 성자를 만들어 십자가에 못 박아 두어야 합니다.

이 플라스틱 예수가 십자가에 못 박혀 있지 않다면, 아무 것도 그를 그 자리에 붙들어 둘 것이 없습니다. 진짜 예수, 다윗의 자손 메시아이며 하나님의 친 아들이신 예슈아는 이미 오래 오래 전부터 십자가에 달려 있지 않습니다.

예슈아께서는 하나님 우편에서 그분의 나라의 일들을 경영하시며 여러분과 제가 그분을 십자가에 달리신 분이실 뿐만 아니라 우리의 만왕의 왕으로 받아들이기를 기다리고 계십니다.

이번 주에 읽는 말씀은 아주 내용이 풍부하기에 저는 여러분 각자가 레위기와 열왕기하와 마가복음과 로마서 말씀의 토라 포션을 모두 읽으시기를 권장합니다. 이 모든 본문의 연계성을 찾아보십시오, 그러면 여러분은 여러분의 영혼이 부유해지는 것을 발견하게 될 것입니다.

코로나바이러스는 180개국 이상의 나라에 퍼졌습니다. 끝이 보이지 않습니다. 세계 유수의 과학자들이 이 바이러스가 영향을 미치는 사람 몸 속에서 어떤 기제로 어떻게 작용하고 있는지 알아내기 위해 초과근무하고 있습니다.

많은 사람들이 몇 년 전 세계를 강타했던 사스나 메르스 코로나바이러스처럼 자연발생적 돌연변이가 아니라고 믿고 있습니다. 많은 이들에게 이 바이러스는 세계 경제를 파괴하고 서구 권력을 약화시키는 궁극적인 무기로 소용되기 위해 사람에 의해 특별히 공학적으로 설계되었다고 보이는 것 같습니다.

사람이 한 눈을 감고도 볼 수 있는 것처럼, 일부 세계 열강은 더 강해지며 이 코로나바이러스 여파로부터 활황의 비즈니스를 하고 있는 것 같습니다.

As disciples of Yeshua we are obligated to see the silver lining in every cloud. Well, it is a little more than a month since the Coronavirus pandemic pandemonium started in Israel. Just before the feast of Purim, and now we are past the feast of Passover.

This next Shabbat we are reading a double portion of the Torah: Two portions back to back on the same Shabbat: Tazria, Leviticus 12:1 – 13: 59, and Metzora Leviticus 14:1 – 15:33. There are also two readings from the Prophets: 2 Kings 4:42 – 5:19, and 2 Kings 7:3-20, and from the New Testament also a double reading Mark 15:1-16 and Romans 6:8-23.

Yes, there is much reading of the Word of God in the Synagogues around the world. For us disciples of Yeshua the Messiah we also add the reading from the New Testament. The reason is simple, the product is always more important than the salesmen.

The Rabbi and the Pastor are only salesmen. The reason why we gather together is to hear from God, the pastor is only the salesman. So we give the majority of the time to God’s Word to inspire us and teach us and move us to good deeds and sharing of God’s wisdom.

Now to the Torah reading. The first part of Leviticus 12, gives the instruction to women who have given birth.

In Luke 2:21-24 [NKJV], we read:

“And when eight days were completed for the circumcision of the Child, His name was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb. Now when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they brought Him to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord (as it is written in the law of the Lord, ‘Every male who opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord’), and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the law of the Lord…” – Luke 2:21-24 [NKJV]

When the text says in verse 24, “according to what is said in the law of the Lord,” it is referring to this Shabbat’s reading from Leviticus 12. This short text in the Gospel of Luke ought to be an eye opener for most Christians.

What is Luke trying to tell us (The Gentile disciple of Yeshua the Messiah, fruit of the work of the Apostle Paul and a fellow traveler with Paul to Jerusalem)? First Luke is making sure that we know that Yeshua our Lord is a Jew. A proper Jew circumcised on the eighth day.

Second, Yeshua and his family were not rich, they offered two turtle doves as a sacrifice to the Lord. The third thing that Luke is making sure that we know is that Yeshua went through all the proper ceremonies of purification together with Mary his mother, in the temple in Jerusalem.

Why is this important for every Christian? The reason is that the historical churches, the Catholics in Rome and the Orthodox in Constantinople, and the protestants from Germany, France, England, Holland, and now from the USA, have allowed their history to take them far from Jerusalem, and far from the King of the Jews, Yeshua the son of God the son of David and the son of Abraham.

By staying far from the roots they have allowed much wild grass to grow around them and hide the Son that gives life. When you don’t have a natural Son you have to produce one that is made of wood, gold, silver, or plastic and keep him nailed to the cross.

If this plastic Jesus is not nailed to the cross there is nothing to hold him in place. The real Jesus i.e. Yeshua the Son of David, the Messiah and the Son of God Himself, is already from a long, long, time ago not on the cross.

Yeshua is on the right hand of God running the affairs of His Kingdom and waiting for you and for me to accept Him not only as the crucified One, but as our King of Kings.

The reading this week is very rich and I recommend each one of you to read all of it, from the book of Leviticus and the 2 Kings and from both Mark and Romans. Seek the connections between all these texts and you will find enrichment for your soul.

I need your prayers for my health. I thank God every day for His goodness and mercy and trust Him to restore my health so that I can continue to teach His Word. I need your prayers and Marcia needs your prayers.

Danah our daughter needs much prayer for her situation and so does our granddaughter Noaam. She is a wonderful young lady with many gifts, and challenges in life. Please lift Danah and Noaam in your prayers.

Please keep Michelle O., in your prayers. Michelle is a young lady who has been diagnosed with leukemia, and also has kidney stones. She needs our prayers.

Pray for a dear brother Mr. Shukrey Lawrence, who is suffering from cancer and needs our prayers for strength and healing. Pray also for Lawrence Tours and the entire Tourist industry in Israel. There are no tourists and Hotels are being converted into temporary hospitals for the thousands of coronavirus victims.

The Tourist industry in Israel is suffering a death blow if there is not a reasonably quick lifting of all the restrictions and the return of airports to their normal function.

Please add to your prayers a special prayer for the following brothers and sisters who need divine intervention in their behalf: Angela I, Rachael and Daniel a brother and sister who need jobs and emotional healing. Also add Tony B., and Aries Franklin Mayers Sr.

Don’t forget Nancy and Don Hook, Rachel – Jingyung Lee, Hannah Yoshida from Koyto, and Dr. Yuizawa , Tiz H., Lion H., Ilana Avrahamov, Michael Shiffman’s mother, Ruby L., Sister Angela from Taiwan, who has new challenges that are very serious and needs special prayer for a miracle from the Lord.

All this list includes people who are dealing with a major pandemic even greater than the coronavirus. They are all dealing with cancer in acute stages.

We, the disciples of Yeshua must take the ministry that was given to us by the Lord Himself, to ask in His name and He will bring our appeals before His Father.

Please remember my family, Marcia and Danah and Noaam, Barry, Beth, and Joey Shulam. Please see your prayer as casting a vote for healing before the Lord and His angels in Heaven in favor of every brother and sister that you are praying for. Just a word of grace before the mercy seat of the Almighty will be heard in favor of these brothers and sisters from around the world.

The coronavirus has spread to more than 180 countries. There is no end in sight. Scientist around the world are working overtime to understand how this virus works and what systems in the human body it affects.

There are many who believe that this virus is not a natural mutation of the Sars and Mars coronaviruses that struck our world a few years back. It seems to many that this virus is especially engineered by humans to serve the ultimate weapon to destroy the economies of the world and weaken the world powers in the West.

As one can see even with one eye shut, that some of the world powers are getting stronger and doing a brisk business from the coronavirus aftershock.

I am happy to see that the Chinese government is easing the quarantine in China and in Wuhan and returning slowly to business as usual. This is a good sign to other countries that it is not impossible to conquer the coronavirus.

For those who need blessings in their life and Business: Roger W., Ema, Deborah Ruth, Lydia, Sima, Laurel S., Naomi, Orna, David S., Daniel, Ayla, Hillel, Elhanan, Tony, Dr. Song, Michael Knezevich, Ismael Alves, Asher Gabriel, M. The coronavirus is threatening the world economy with a great recession and depression. Some of our major supporters have already lowered the amount of their support. They have done this not only toward Netivyah, but for all the ministries that they are supporting, and they are many.

I would like to first ask you to pray about your part in supporting Netivyah Bible Instruction Ministry. Second, I would like for you who stand with us in prayer and financially to do your very best to stay on board with us and communicate. We realize that times will be hard for several years, but we also realize that God has chosen and blessed you for such a time as this.

I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish! The best is yet to come!
