As Mary looks into the sepulchre, she sees the two angels sitting, one at the head and one at the feet of where Yeshua's body had lain. Suddenly there is a powerful revelation given to Mary that we all are in need of, but we must first stoop down low and look into the tomb, seeking the One our soul desires even as she did, in order to receive it. And you will make a mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half will be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof. And you will make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work will you make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat. And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat will you make the cherubims on the two ends thereof. And you will put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark you will put the testimony that I will give you. And there I will meet with you, and I will commune with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel. Exodus 25:17-22 The angels have come to reveal to Mary that Yeshua is the everlasting Mercy Seat and the place where God communes with us. They prepare Mary for an encounter with the One who communes between the two cherubim. Mary is one of scripture's finest examples of a tenacious seeking heart that provides the motivation for all who would also tarry, stoop down low and look into the sepulchre in order to have a similar encounter with the Mercy Seat not made by hands. Whom God has set forth to be a propitiation (Greek: ‘mercy seat’) through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God. Romans 3:25 Yeshua knows Mary's heart. He comes to commune with her "between the two cherubim." Finally, He calls Mary by name and her eyes are opened to know Him. Rabboni, she cries! He orders her not to touch Him because He hasn't yet ascended to the Father. It seems that He has come back to the tomb on His way to the Father, to comfort Mary and the disciples who are disoriented and lost without their Master. He commands Mary not to cling to Him as before, for He is ushering in a new dispensation. He has rent the veil forever. He is ascending to the Father so that now and forevermore we will all be able to approach His throne of grace to find everlasting mercy, for He is our Mercy Seat not made by hands. Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
