예루살렘 기도 목록 – 2020년 9월 24일

이번 안식일은 유대력에서 특별한 안식일 중 하나입니다. 이번 안식일에 부여된 이름은 “샤밧 슈바”입니다. 이 이름인 이유는 이 안식일에 호세아 선지자의 책 14:2부터 요엘 20절까지 읽는 말씀 때문입니다. 읽는 이 말씀의 첫 구절은 호세아 14:1입니다:

“이스라엘아 네 하나님 여호와께로 돌아오라 네가 불의함으로 말미암아 엎드러졌느니라.” – 호세아 14:1

이 말씀은 욤 키푸르(대속죄일) 직전 안식일에 언제나 채용됩니다. 이것은 가장 의미심장한 말씀 중 하나로, 회개로의 부름입니다. 우리가 우리 동류 사람에 대해 지은 죄를 회개하는 개인적 회개가 아니라, 나라의 집단적 죄를 회개하기 위함입니다.

나 개인의 죄와 나라의 집단적 죄 사이에는 아주 중요하고 특별한 구분이 있습니다. 서구 문명은 개인의 구원을 강조하며 개인에 초점을 맞춥니다. 저희도 개인의 정체성과 개인의 죄가 있지만, 저희는 공동의 몸, 공동체, 나라의 일원이기도 하다는 것을 기억해야 합니다.

궁극적으로 우리는 호모 사피엔스 종의 일원입니다. 그렇습니다, 우리 각자의 정체성 역시 중요하고 우리에게 가장 밀접합니다. 그러나 우리는 우리의 씨족, 종족, 혹은 우리 국적의 일부로서 우리의 책임에서 벗어날 수 없습니다.

제가 개인으로 잘못하거나 죄를 지을 때는 제가 저의 행동에 대한 책임을 집니다. 공동의 몸의 일원으로서도 우리 공동체나 정부나 회사가 행한 선이나 악이나 추한 일 때문에 그 몸에 대한 집단적 책임이 있습니다.

욤 키푸르는 이런 특수한 목적 때문에 하나님께서 우리에게 주신 것입니다. 이날은 뉘우치는 마음으로 금식하며 우리의 집단적이고 단체적인 죄에 대해 중보하는 국가 회개의 날입니다.

토라(모세오경) 레위기 16장에는 메시아를 가리키는 것들이 많이 있습니다. 저희 역사상 유대 랍비 중 몇 분은 성전 제단에서 드려지지 않고 유대광야에 놓아 보내는 희생양(염소)이 메시아의 전형이며 상징임을 아주 잘 깨달았습니다.

우리 자신의 죄에 집중하는 것은 중요합니다. 그러나 우리 모두가 우리를 단지 개인으로서만 아니라, 더 큰 공동체의 일원으로 보는 것 역시 중요합니다. 여러분이 이런 공동체를 교회라고 부르고 싶거나, 혹은 나라라거나, 혹은 그냥 클럽이라고 부르고 싶을 수도 있겠지만, 시인 존 도니가 말했듯이:

“그 누구도 완전히 혼자만의 섬이지 않다. 모든 사람은 대륙의 한 조각, 주된 것의 일부이다. 흙 한 덩이가 바다에 씻겨 사라진다면 … 어떤 사람의 죽음도 나를 작아지게 하는 이유는 내가 인류에 포함되어 있기 때문이다. 그러므로 누구를 위하여 종이 울리는지 알려고 사람을 보내지 말지니, 그것은 그대를 위해 울리는 것이기에.” – 존 도니

이것이 정말 키푸르(대속)의 날의 위대함입니다. 우리에게 성전과 대제사장과 희생제사가 있던 시대에 그 의식들은 의미가 풍부했습니다.

한 사람, 하나님의 아들 예슈아께서 우리의 대속이신 오늘, 우리는 예루살렘의 로마 십자가에서 일어난 일과, 3일 후 죽은 자 가운데 살아나 차가운 돌 동굴에서 걸어 나오시고 40일 후 나 개인의 구주일 뿐만 아니라 세상의 구주로서 승천하신 그분을 통해 마땅히 하나님의 은혜를 기념해야 합니다.

예슈아께서는 저와 여러분을 위해서만 그분의 생명을 주신 것이 아니라, 온 세상을 위해서도 주셨습니다. 이것은 제게 세상이 하나님께서 모든 사람을 위해 무슨 일을 하셨는지 알게 해야 하는 부담을 주는데요, 여러분에게도 그러하기를 바랍니다. 그래서 이번 “샤밧 슈바(회개의 안식일)”에 호세아 선지자의 책 14장에서부터 요엘 20절까지 읽을 때 그 본문 말씀은 우리에게 말하여 오늘날 우리가 죄로 생각하지도 않는 다음과 같은 죄들을 회개하라고 촉구할 것입니다:

“우리가 앗수르의 구원을 의지하지 아니하며 말을 타지 아니하며 다시는 우리의 손으로 만든 것을 향하여 너희는 우리의 신이라 하지 아니하오리니 이는 고아가 주로 말미암아 긍휼을 얻음이니이다 할지니라.” – 호세아 14:3

우리는 호세아 14장의 이 말씀을 오늘날 우리에게 어떻게 해석해야 할까요? 이스라엘에 있는 저희에게 제안하는 해석은 이렇습니다. 다른 분들은 각자의 버전으로 “플러그를 꽂고 재생”할 자유가 있습니다!

“우리가 미국의 구원을 의지하지 않을 것이며, 전쟁 무기, 탱크, 비행기를 의지하지도 않을 것입니다. 우리는 우리 손으로 이룬 일이 우리를 구해줄 것이라고 의지하지 않을 것입니다. 우리는 더 이상 우리 자신의 능력이나 업적을 우리의 신으로 여기지 않을 것입니다. 주님 안에서만 우리가 위로를 찾을 수 있으므로 주님만이 우리가 의지할 분이시기에 그렇습니다.”

이것은 우리 시대 우리 문화에 큰 죄 중 하나입니다. 우리는 “자수성가한 사람들”의 정서가 있습니다. 그것은 우리의 능력과 재능만으로 우리 주변에 있는 모든 것을 성취했다는 것입니다. 우리는 우리 삶에 누가 진짜 상사인지, 누가 우리 모두를 위해 최종 결정을 하는 분인지 잊었습니다!

우리가 회개하고 돌아가 그 누구도 아닌 주님께 의지하면 그 결과는 호세아 선지자의 책에 주님께서 말씀하신 것과 같이 될 것입니다:

“내가 그들의 반역을 고치고 기쁘게 그들을 사랑하리니 나의 진노가 그에게서 떠났음이니라 내가 이스라엘에게 이슬과 같으리니 그가 백합화 같이 피겠고 레바논 백향목 같이 뿌리가 박힐 것이라 그의 가지는 퍼지며 그의 아름다움은 감람나무와 같고 그의 향기는 레바논 백향목 같으리니.” – 호세아 14:4-6

호세아는 이스라엘에 말한 것이지만, 메시아 예수아를 자기 주와 구주로 영접하고 하나님께서 이스라엘에 주신 약속들을 받은 열방 중에서 온 모든 이들에게도 해당됩니다.

토라 포션 신명기 32장은 아주 강력한 말씀으로, 여러분이 주의 깊게 읽으시면 사도 바울의 신학 대부분이 이 장에 근거하고 있음을 아실 수 있을 것입니다.

다음은 바울이 특별히 로마서 9~11장에서 말하고 있는 것에 대하여 여러분의 눈을 밝혀줄 몇 구절입니다. 이 장들은 바울이 메시아 안에서 그의 사명을 신학적으로 설명하는 주요 설명문 중 하나입니다:

“그들이 다른 신으로 그의 질투를 일으키며 가증한 것으로 그의 진노를 격발하였도다 그들은 하나님께 제사하지 아니하고 귀신들에게 하였으니 곧 그들이 알지 못하던 신들, 근래에 들어온 새로운 신들 너희의 조상들이 두려워하지 아니하던 것들이로다 너를 낳은 반석을 네가 상관하지 아니하고 너를 내신 하나님을 네가 잊었도다 그러므로 여호와께서 보시고 미워하셨으니 그 자녀가 그를 격노하게 한 까닭이로다 그가 말씀하시기를 내가 내 얼굴을 그들에게서 숨겨 그들의 종말이 어떠함을 보리니 그들은 심히 패역한 세대요 진실이 없는 자녀임이로다 그들이 하나님이 아닌 것으로 내 질투를 일으키며 허무한 것으로 내 진노를 일으켰으니 나도 백성이 아닌 자로 그들에게 시기가 나게 하며 어리석은 민족으로 그들의 분노를 일으키리로다 그러므로 내 분노의 불이 일어나서 스올의 깊은 곳까지 불사르며 땅과 그 소산을 삼키며 산들의 터도 불타게 하는도다.” – 신명기 32:16-22

이제 다음은 로마서 11:11-15에 바울이 말한 것입니다:

“그러므로 내가 말하노니 그들이 넘어지기까지 실족하였느냐 그럴 수 없느니라 그들이 넘어짐으로 구원이 이방인에게 이르러 이스라엘로 시기나게 함이니라 그들의 넘어짐이 세상의 풍성함이 되며 그들의 실패가 이방인의 풍성함이 되거든 하물며 그들의 충만함이리요 내가 이방인인 너희에게 말하노라 내가 이방인의 사도인 만큼 내 직분을 영광스럽게 여기노니 이는 혹 내 골육을 아무쪼록 시기하게 하여 그들 중에서 얼마를 구원하려 함이라 그들을 버리는 것이 세상의 화목이 되거든 그 받아들이는 것이 죽은 자 가운데서 살아나는 것이 아니면 무엇이리요.” – 로마서 11:11-15

저는 여러분께 이번 주말에 온 이스라엘과 여러분 각자의 나라를 위해 기도하시기를 부탁드립니다. 우리는 이 세상에 소금과 빛이 되라는 위임을 받았는데, 이 팬데믹의 시절에 메시아의 몸 말고 누가 이런 책임을 떠맡겠습니까?

우리는 전 세계와 각자의 나라를 위해 그리고 거기에 이스라엘을 추가하여 기도해야 합니다. 저는 이 코로나바이러스가 이스라엘을 훈육하여 그들이 하나님과 더 좋은 관계로 회복되고 그들의 창조주를 더 존경하도록 하나님께서 보내셨던 성경의 다른 모든 염병 같은 전염병이라고 믿습니다.

이스라엘이 회개했을 때나 모세가 들어 올렸던 놋뱀을 바라보았을 때, 그들은 치유 받았습니다. 물론, 우리는 모세 때처럼 놋뱀이 필요하지는 않지만, 우리의 눈을 들어 그 무엇도 아닌 우리 주 예슈아께 초점을 맞출 필요가 있습니다.

이것이 의미하는 것은 우리의 믿음을, 메시아의 몸을 분열시켰고 또 다시 분열되었으며 우리의 믿음의 중심을 십자가에 달리신 분으로부터 교회 제도로 돌려버린 교단/교파가 아닌, 메시아의 복음에 다시 맞추라는 것입니다.

저는 하나님의 말씀에 나타난 다른 모든 전염병과 마찬가지로 이 전염병도 하나님으로부터 왔고 하나님에 의해 멈춰질 수 있다고 믿습니다.

우리 영적 지도자들이 우리를 회개로, 죄와 허물을 고백하는 데로 이끌고 지적하여, 주님께서 이 코로나바이러스를 이 땅에서 거두시고 우리가 주님을 기억하며 그분의 의와 진리의 길로 걸어가게 하도록 우리 모두 기도하며 격려합시다.

마르시아의 건강과 기억력과 당뇨와 류마티스 관절염을 위해 계속 기도해 주시기 바랍니다. 저희 딸 다나는 지금 처한 상황 때문에 여러분의 기도가 많이 필요하고, 저희 손녀 노아암도 그렇습니다. 여러분의 기도 가운데 다나와 노아암을 올려드려 주십시오. 역시 이 시기에 집에 있으면서 재택근무하고 있는 저희 아들 배리와 그의 가족 베쓰와 저희 손자 죠이도 올려드려 주십시오. 마르시아의 친정어머니 준은 91세시며 건강이 나빠지고 있습니다.

The Jerusalem Prayer List – September 24, 2020

This Shabbat is one of the special Shabbats in the Jewish calendar. The name given to this Shabbat is, Shabbat Shuva. The reason for this name is the reading from Hosea the prophet chapter 14:2 to Joel verse 20. The first verse of this reading is Hosea 14:1:

“O Israel, return to the Lord your God, For you have stumbled because of your iniquity…” – Hosea 14:1

This reading is always used on the Shabbat day prior to Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement). It is one of the most significant texts and a call to repentance. Not for the private repentance of our sins against our fellowmen – but for our collective, national sins.

There is a very important and special distinction between my personal sins and the collective sins of the nation. Western culture is focused on the individual, with the stress being on individual salvation. We do have an individual identity and individual sins, but we must remember that we are also part of a corporate body, of a community and of a nation…

Ultimately we are members of the homo sapiens species. Yes our individual identity is also very important and it is the closest to us. However, we cannot escape our part and responsibility to our clan, our race, or our nationality.

When I as an individual do wrong and sin, I bear the responsibility for my actions. As a part of a corporate body there is also a collective responsibility to that body for the good, the bad, and the ugly, that our communities and governments and corporations do.

Yom Kippur is given to us by God for this specific purpose. It is a national day of repentance and fasting with contrite hearts interceding for our collective and corporate sins.

In the Torah (the Law of Moses) in Leviticus chapter 16 there are many pointers that point toward the Messiah and a few of the Jewish rabbis throughout our history, understood well that the scapegoat that was not offered on the altar in the Temple and was released in the wilderness of Judea was a type and symbol of the Messiah.

It is important to concentrate and to on our own sins and but it is also important for all of us to see ourselves not only as individuals, but as parts of larger communities. If you wish you could call these communities, churches. Or you could call them countries, or even clubs, but as the poet John Donne said:

“No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea… any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind. And therefore, never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.” – John Donne

This is really the greatness of the day of Kippur (atonement). In the days when we had a temple and high priest and sacrifices, the ceremonies were rich with meaning.

Today when one man, Yeshua the son of God, is our atonement. We ought to celebrate God’s Grace through what happened in Jerusalem on the Roman Cross, and through the one who three days later was raised from the dead and walked out of a cold stone cave, and who 40 days later ascended to heaven not only as my personal savior, but as the savior of the world.

Yeshua didn’t give His life only for me and you, but for the whole world. This puts a burden on me, and I hope on you too, to make sure that the world knows what God has done for everyone. So, this Shabbat Shuva (Shabbat of repentance) when we are reading Hosea the prophet chapter 14 through to Joel verse 20, the text should speak to us and call us to repent for sins like the following that we don’t even think of today as being sins:

“Assyria shall not save us, We will not ride on horses, Nor will we say anymore to the work of our hands, ‘You are our gods.’ For in You the fatherless finds mercy.” – Hosea 14:3 [NKJV]

How ought we interpret this text from Hosea 14 for us today? Here is a suggestion for us in Israel and others are free to “plug and play” their own version!

“The USA will not save us, we will not put our trust in weapons of war, tanks, and airplanes. We will not trust the work of our hands to save us. We will no longer consider our own abilities and accomplishments as our gods. For you Lord are the only one in whom we can trust because in you Lord and in you alone can we find our comfort.”

This is one of the major sins of our times and culture. We have a feeling that we are “self-made men.” That with our talents and gifts alone, we have accomplished all that is around us. We forget who the real boss in our lives is, and who is the one who makes the final decisions for all of us!

If we repent and return and put our trust in the Lord and in no one else, the results will be as Hosea the prophet says the Lord said:

“I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely, For My anger has turned away from him. I will be like the dew to Israel; He shall grow like the lily and lengthen his roots like Lebanon. His branches shall spread; His beauty shall be like an olive tree, and his fragrance like Lebanon.” – Hosea 14:4-6 [NKJV]

Hosea was speaking to Israel, but all those from among the nations that have received the Messiah Yeshua as their Lord and savior have received the promises that God gave to Israel.

The Torah portion from Deuteronomy chapter 32, is a very strong text that if you read carefully, you will see that most of the apostle Paul’s theology is based on this chapter.

Here are a few verses to enlighten you of what Paul was talking about especially in Romans 9-11, which is one of Paul’s major theological explanations of his mission in the Messiah:

“They provoked Him to jealousy with foreign gods; With abominations they provoked Him to anger. They sacrificed to demons, not to God, To gods they did not know, To new gods, new arrivals that your fathers did not fear. Of the Rock who begot you, you are unmindful, and have forgotten the God who fathered you. And when the Lord saw it, He spurned them, Because of the provocation of His sons and His daughters. And He said: ‘I will hide My face from them, I will see what their end will be, For they are a perverse generation, Children in whom is no faith. They have provoked Me to jealousy by what is not God; They have moved Me to anger by their foolish idols. But I will provoke them to jealousy by those who are not a nation; I will move them to anger by a foolish nation. For a fire is kindled in My anger, and shall burn to the lowest hell; It shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.’” – Deuteronomy 32:16-32 [NKJV]

Now here is what Paul said in Romans 11:11-15:

“I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Gentiles. Now if their fall is riches for the world, and their failure riches for the Gentiles, how much more their fullness! For I speak to you Gentiles; inasmuch as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, if by any means I may provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh and save some of them. For if their being cast away is the reconciling of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?” – Romans 11:11-15 [NKJV]

I ask you to pray for all of Israel this weekend and for your own countries. We have been given a commission to be salt and light in this world and in these days of pandemic, who else shall take this responsibility other than the body of the Messiah?

We must pray for the whole world and each of us for his own country and to add Israel. I believe that this coronavirus is a plague like all the biblical plagues that God sent to educate Israel and restore them to a better relationship with Him, and to greater respect for their creator.

When Israel repented or looked at the brass snake that Moses lifted up, they received healing. Of course, we don’t need a brass serpent like in the days of Moses, but we do need to lift up our eyes and focus on Yeshua our Lord and on nothing else.

What this means is a refocusing of our faith on the Gospel of the Messiah and not on the denominations that have divided and divided again the body of the Messiah and diverted the center of our faith from one that was crucified to the institution of the church.

I believe that this plague like every other plague in the word of God comes from God and can be stopped by God.

Let us all pray and encourage our spiritual leaders to lead and to point us toward repentance and to confession of our sins and weaknesses, so that the Lord will lift this coronavirus from off of this earth and we will remember the Lord and seek to walk in His paths of righteousness and truth.

Please keep praying for Marcia’s health, her memory, diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis. Danah our daughter, needs much prayer for her situation and so does our granddaughter Noaam. Please lift Danah and Noaam in your prayers. Please lift Barry our son and his family, Beth, and Joey our grandson who are also staying at home and working from home during this time. Marcia’s mother June is 91 years old and her health is failing.

Brazil is in bad shape with the coronavirus and the problems of the business community, and the social unrest is also a major challenge. We have so many brothers and sisters in Brazil that need our prayers and intercession on their behalf.

Here is a short list of communities and brothers and sisters in Brazil who need our prayers and God’s grace in these hard times: Pray for the sister communities of Netivyah in Brazil, Har Zion, Ensenando de Siao, and Sar-El in Curitiba and other brothers and sisters in the city of Curitiba.

There is another congregation of brothers and sisters in Curitiba led by brother Claus and brother Moses, please pray for these dear brothers also and for and the Messianic congregations in Fortaleza, Santa Maria, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and in other cities in Brazil. Pray for our dear older and more vulnerable brothers and partners in Brazil, Michelle O., Marcelo Guimaraes family and especially his father, Paulo, and for Marty Galante, and for the Resende family.

I am asking you to pray for TJ who is the pastor of the congregation in Taiwan.

Keep Ruby Little in your prayers, our dear sister from Oklahoma City, who is also battling against cancer. Lift up in prayer the following brothers and sisters:

Samuel Lopes, a 17-year-old boy who is going through an extremely hard time. His father and mother are extremely upset that He is not walking with the Lord and I heard from his father he has joined with friends who are far from the paths of righteousness.

Pray for Rachael and Daniel, a brother and sister who need jobs and emotional healing.

Lift these brothers and sisters in your prayers: Angela Isby, Aries Franklin Mayers Sr., and Tony Black. Keep praying for Nancy, Don and their son Aaron Hook, Rachel David Kim’s wife – Jingyung Lee, Dr. Yuizawa, Tiz H., Lion H., Michael Schiffman, Joe Mays, Ilana Abramov, Cynthia Parveen’s sister, David Stern and his family, Anne West who is now 100 years old. Keep praying for Gary, and Melanie.

Remember the following brothers and sisters from the Roeh Israel Congregation in Jerusalem; Sarit, Gabriela, Ahuva, Leah, Ilana, Hannah, young Gabriela, Zvi D. and Bathsheba, Jonathan B. and his wife Aviva and their baby, and pray for Sister Yoko Nagumo in Japan. Sister Yoko had a stroke and we pray that her recovery will be quick and full.

From Chennai, India, please remember Pastor Isaac. From Hong Kong, remember all of Hong Kong during these days of several different kinds of viruses and the coronavirus. Remember Tony and Louisa Tam, and our brothers and sisters at the 611 Church, and the other churches who love God and love Israel in that great city.

Just a word of grace before the mercy seat of the Almighty will be heard in favor of these brothers and Um Mahmud Abu-Eid and Jimmy Abu-Eid and his family, Keijo and Salme our dear brothers in Finland, Tim Tucker, Satu-Maria, Sinni Tuuli. Our brother in Finland Erki Murto is gone. Erki passed from this world a few days ago. Please let us keep Sirpa, Erki’s widow in our prayer.

May the Lord comfort her and consul her in these hours of sorrow and grief. Also pray for our other brothers and sisters in Finland who need our prayers, Evelina, and Eva H., Patty, Andrea, Julia and Victor, and Aaron Tani, and Hillel and his wife.

Around the whole world, we pray for Zhou Wenrian, and the Abe family, for Toru, Takeo Sensei, Daisuke Sensei, Tomoko San, Yumi and her father Pastor Ohara, George, and Pastor Isaac in Chennai, India, Louisa, and Tony in Hong Kong.

I have just received a prayer request from a dear sister from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her father who is 70 years old and diabetic has contracted the COVID-19 virus. His name is Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias. He is in the hospital and his condition is very challenging. Please join us in lifting Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias in your prayers.

Please see your prayer as casting a vote for healing before the Lord and His angels in Heaven in favor of every brother and sister that you are praying for. Just a word of grace for all of us is a refreshing spirit. Take your prayers before the mercy seat of the Almighty to be heard in favor of those that you are lifting in prayer.

Please add to your prayers the family of Um Mahmud Abu-Eid and Jimmy their son. I believe that this is a good thing for us to pray for friends and acquaintances who are Muslims. It is an act of love and reconciliation to carry before the throne of mercy those dear people who are seeking peace and righteousness looking toward the Lord for mercy and healing.

I am adding to the prayer list the daughter of one of my important university professors, Allison Howard Williams, she is the daughter of Patsy Wilkerson Howard, and Dr. George Howard who was one of my favorite and most important Bible teachers.

Keep praying for Guilherme Antonio Nathan Becker and his wife Artuza de Oliviera, also add Rachael and Daniel Webster and Lizette Nancy, and Jose Carlos from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

By praying for people who are your brothers and sisters, and whom you do not know personally, you are exercising the right to be God’s ambassador in what is called “agape love.” “Agape love” is the highest form of love, a love that does not look for earthly rewards or give and take, but just does the service of intercession in the kingdom of God.

You will be blessed by the almighty God who gives each of His children good for the good we do and recompense for the bad we do. Your sincere prayers for people around the world do the following things for the Kingdom, the King, and for the body of the Messiah:

1. They unite you and the body in a major transcendent bond of prayer.

2. They demonstrate the oneness of the people of God.

3. Your prayer shows that there are people outside the realm of the physical world and personal interests who have a sincere bond and relationship that is heavenly and not earthly.

4. The Lord knows His children and gives credit and reward according to His promises.

We have brothers and sisters in Israel and in China and I ask you to pray for their safety and protection: Deborah Ruth, Lydia, Sima, Laurel S., Naomi, Orna, David S., Daniel, Dalia D., Ayla, Hillel, Elhanan, Tony, Dr. Song, and his wife Sister Harriet Kim, Michael Knezevich, Ismael Alves, Asher Gabriel, M. Ahuva. Please pray for a dear brother who is well into his 90’s and lost his wife a couple of weeks ago. His name is Dov H.

Pray for Israel. We are going through terrible riots and violence in the streets of Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv and other places around the country. These riots are motivated by the fact that much of the populace of Israel does not understand what the government is doing in relationship to the coronavirus pandemic.

Businesses are closing and bankruptcy is happening to old established companies and businesses and even our national airline is on the verge of bankruptcy. People do not have money to put food on their tables. The number of people in need of basic food is growing.

Netivyah has been feeding the poor of Jerusalem for more than 25 years and we have a highly appreciated humanitarian ministry that is working with the Jerusalem municipality. As the demands for food for people who never before needed such help grows, I pray that the Lord will inspire and motivate brothers and sisters and ministries who can help with this to go to the webpage: www.netivyah.org and do what they can to make it possible for us to double or more than double, the number of people and families that we serve.

Our prime minister’s case is still before the courts. I am not happy that this is happening in Israel, but I am praying that true justice and righteousness is exhibited in our court system. The truth must come out and I am not interested in a second prime minister of Israel going to jail. We have had a president in jail, a finance minister in jail, a minister of interior affairs in jail, and a member of the parliament in jail. Enough!

From our congregation in Jerusalem we ask you to join us in prayer for the following dear brothers and sisters: Gary, Melanie, Sarit, Gabriela, Ahuva, Leah, Ilana, Hannah, young Gabriela, Zvi D. and Bathsheba, Jonathan B. and his wife Aviva and their new baby.

Pray for some dear friends, Rabbi Salt, and his family and Rabbi Hasselblad. They are both older and need protection and blessings.

I was asked by brothers and sisters of the Messianic congregation, Shoresh David (The Root of David) in Portland, Oregon, to pray for Portland. Anarchist elements have taken the center of Portland, OR, and turned it into chaos, and disorder. So, please pray for Portland, OR, and for our brothers and sisters in that city.

The coronavirus is threatening the economy of the world with a great recession and depression. Some of our major supporters have already lowered the amount of their support. They have done this not only toward Netivyah, but for all the ministries that they are supporting, and they are many. I would like to first ask you to pray about your part in supporting Netivyah Bible Instruction Ministry.

Second, I would like for you who stand with us in prayer and financially to do your absolute best to stay on board with us and communicate. We realize that times will be hard for several years, but we also realize that God has chosen and blessed you for such a time as this.

Third please pray for a new project that we are starting in Israel in partnership with the Houses for Healing ministry from Abilene, Texas.

The aim is to provide hospitality for families of critically ill patients who are hospitalized in one of Jerusalem’s hospitals and who have no means to stay in hotels while their family members are in the hospitals.

This is a critical need especially in these days when there are hundreds of men and women who are in the Coronavirus ICU units for weeks and even months.

We need your prayer and your help to make this a meaningful and significant blessing both to the sick and to their families. 
 

I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish! The best is yet to come!
