I am not referring to the rockets which Hamas was shooting into Israel; but our Arabic neighbors mainly from Muslim background who took to rioting in the once quiet neighborhoods. This was due to a choice to join in the jihad where its commanded for a Muslim to fight against what they call the infidels, which in their eyes are the ones who took the land which belongs to them. Jihad is a holy fight for Muslims, one where you are commanded to kill your enemy, even at the cost of your own life. There are additional ways in which a jihad can be carried out. One is through the media where a call goes out to join the holy fight. This is how the youth in the mixed cities and surrounding area were led to our streets. Also, there is a jihad against the economy when there is a boycott from purchasing goods manufactured in lands defined as being occupied by the enemy. This also includes agricultural products gown on that land. If you are disabled and cannot join physically, it is still jihad if your prayers are directed against the enemy. Even the women who give birth to children who will eventually join in the holy war or jihad to defend Islam; are considered jihadists. So, for those in the mixed cities like Acco, who have been living a life of pluralism and honoring one another and their differences and beliefs, they are in shock to see what is happening at their doorsteps; when neighbor turns against neighbor. Israel’s enemy has witnessed how in the last two years we have had four elections, no unity and in effect, an unstable government. He perceived this as a good time to hit at Israel’s soft spot. What our enemy didn’t realize is that you cannot overcome Israel and her people with this tactic because it is in the hard times when we rise up above our differences and join together in the fight. Unfortunately, a lack of trust surfaced between Jewish and Arab neighbors after these riots. We, the leadership of the believing community are the priests that stand before God representing the people. I believe we have failed in this area. Especially when the leadership of the believing community here in the land were more focused on our differences, causing division and lack of attention to God’s heart, His people. I see that the period of instability in the land, beginning with multiple elections and disunity and now leading to riots in the streets is connected to and began with the division in the leadership of the Messianic Body in Israel. Only when we will put our differences aside; coming in humility to wash one another’s feet will we see change. As for the mixed cities, those spiritual leaders who serve Yeshua; both Arab and Jew must come together standing in the gap for our cities. We must stand in a place where the blood and body of our Lord is ever before us. A place where His blood continually cleanses all iniquity. For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread. 1 Corinthians 10:17 |
