예루살렘 기도 목록 – 2024년 5월 11일
요셉 슐람 – 이스라엘 예루살렘에서

이번 안식일 토라 포션은 제가 보기에 토라 중에서 가장 중요한 본문 중 하나입니다.

토라에서는 레위기 19:1~20:27을 읽을 것입니다.
선지서에서는 아모스 9:7-15를 읽고,
신약성경에서는 베드로전서 1:13-16, 고린도전서 6:9-20, 요한복음 4:22를 읽습니다.

그 이유는 이번 토라 포션(파라샤)이 우리에게 어떻게 성도가 되고 어떻게 거룩해지는가를 가르치기 때문입니다. 케도심이라는 단어는 “거룩한” 혹은 “성화한”이라는 뜻입니다. 매우 드물기는 하지만 우리가 기독교인들이 거룩함 혹은 성화됨에 대해 말하는 것을 들을 때 대부분의 시간 그것은 추상적이고 막연하고 불가능한 요구같이 들립니다. 일반적으로 말해서 기독교인들은 사도 바울의 로마서에서의 가르침을 훨씬 더 강조합니다:

“기록된 바 의인은 없나니 하나도 없으며” (로마서 3:10).

대부분의 기독교인들이 모르는 것은 바울이 축어적으로 전도서 7:20을 인용하고 있다는 것입니다. 우리가 신약성경을 찾아보면 분명히 어떤 사람들을 의인이라고 부르고 있는 다음과 같은 말씀들을 찾을 수 있습니다:

마가복음 2:17 예수께서 들으시고 그들에게 이르시되 건강한 자에게는 의사가 쓸 데 없고 병든 자에게라야 쓸 데 있느니라 나는 의인을 부르러 온 것이 아니요 죄인을 부르러 왔노라 하시니라

누가복음 1:5-6 유대 왕 헤롯 때에 아비야 반열에 제사장 한 사람이 있었으니 이름은 사가랴요 그의 아내는 아론의 자손이니 이름은 엘리사벳이라 6 이 두 사람이 하나님 앞에 의인이니 주의 모든 계명과 규례대로 흠이 없이 행하더라

누가복음 5:31-32 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 건강한 자에게는 의사가 쓸 데 없고 병든 자에게라야 쓸 데 있나니 32 내가 의인을 부르러 온 것이 아니요 죄인을 불러 회개 시키러 왔노라

누가복음 23:47 백부장이 그 된 일을 보고 하나님께 영광을 돌려 이르되 이 사람은 정녕 의인이었도다 하고

야고보서 5:16 그러므로 너희 죄를 서로 고백하며 병이 낫기를 위하여 서로 기도하라 의인의 간구는 역사하는 힘이 큼이니라

히브리어 성경에서 우리는 “의인”이라고 불린 다음과 같은 남녀를 볼 수 있습니다!

노아는 창세기 6:9에서 의인이라고 묘사되어 있습니다. 롯은 베드로후서 2:7-8에서 의롭다고 불립니다. 다니엘 선지자도 에스겔 14:14에서 의롭다고 불립니다. 이들은 그들의 올곧음과 하나님께 충직함과 하나님의 명령에 순종하는 것으로 인정받았습니다.

저는 의로운 남녀에 대해 말하는 구절을 더 가져올 수 있을 것입니다.

그렇다면, 바울이 신약성경과 구약성경의 이 말씀을 인용할 때 무엇을 전하고 있는 것일까요? 성경적 실제를 묘사하는 이 그림을 보면, 바울의 전도서 7:20 인용은 4세기 그리스 교부들에게서 물려받고 마틴 루터와 존 칼빈 때까지 이어져 온 기독교의 규범적 시각과는 다른 해석이 있음이 분명합니다. 이들 신학자들은 인간과 우주에 대해 페르시아적 관점을 가진 이교도 그리스 철학자들의 시각으로 바울을 해석했습니다.

다음은 유대적 관점과 역사 배경에서 전도서 7:20을 해석한 것입니다.

“선을 행하고 전혀 죄를 범하지 아니하는 의인은 세상에 없기 때문이로다” (전도서 7:20).

사도 바울은 여러분이 성경을 읽는 방법을 알 것으로 추정하면서 이 구절을 인용하고 있습니다. 그는 여러분이 하나님의 말씀을 주의 깊고 정확하게 읽는 법을 배운 선하고 신실한 바리새인이라고 추정하고 있습니다.

다시 한 번 이 구절은 이렇습니다: “선을 행하고 전혀 죄를 범하지 아니하는 의인은 세상에 없기 때문이로다”

이 본문이 아무도 의롭지 않다고 말하고 있습니까? 아닙니다, 이 본문은 그렇게 말하고 있지 않습니다!
이 본문이 말하고 있는 것은 무엇입니까? 이 본문은 의로운 그 누구도 완전하지 않으며 의인조차도 때로는 죄를 짓는다고 말하고 있습니다. 이 구절의 후반부는 선을 행하는 의인조차도 때로는 죄를 짓는다는 것을 증명합니다.

하나님께서 주시는 계명으로 시작되는 레위기 19장의 주요 본문으로 계속하자면: 레위기 19:1-2
“여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하여 이르시되 2 너는 이스라엘 자손의 온 회중에게 말하여 이르라 너희는 거룩하라 이는 나 여호와 너희 하나님이 거룩함이니라”

이 본문은 분명한 명령입니다! 이 본문은 권고가 아닙니다. 이것은 단호한 명령입니다: “너희는 거룩하라!” 너희가 거룩해야 하는 이유는 “나 여호와 너희 하나님이 거룩하기 때문이니라!” 이 구절은 이후 성경의 나머지 부분에서 그 어떤 본문보다도 더 자주 인용됩니다! 이 본문은 신약성경에서 다음 구절들에 언급되었습니다:

마태복음 5:43: “또 네 이웃을 사랑하고 네 원수를 미워하라 하였다는 것을 너희가 들었으나”

마태복음 19:19: “네 부모를 공경하라, 네 이웃을 네 자신과 같이 사랑하라 하신 것이니라”

마태복음 22:39: “둘째도 그와 같으니 네 이웃을 네 자신 같이 사랑하라 하셨으니”

마가복음 12:31: “둘째는 이것이니 네 이웃을 네 자신과 같이 사랑하라 하신 것이라 이보다 더 큰 계명이 없느니라”

로마서 13:9: “간음하지 말라, 살인하지 말라, 도둑질하지 말라, 탐내지 말라 한 것과 그 외에 다른 계명이 있을지라도 네 이웃을 네 자신과 같이 사랑하라 하신 그 말씀 가운데 다 들었느니라”

갈라디아서 5:14: “온 율법은 네 이웃 사랑하기를 네 자신 같이 하라 하신 한 말씀에서 이루어졌나니”

야고보서 2:8: “너희가 만일 성경에 기록된 대로 네 이웃 사랑하기를 네 몸과 같이 하라 하신 최고의 법을 지키면 잘하는 것이거니와”

레위기의 이 본문은 신약성경의 다음 구절에서도 언급됩니다: 마태복음 5:48, 누가복음 1:74-75, 고린도후서 6:14-16, 에베소서 4:24, 히브리서 12:14, 베드로전서 1:15-16, 베드로후서 3:11.

그렇다면, 이 본문에 있어서 어려운 점은 무엇입니까? 대부분의 기독교인들은 레위기 19장 말씀을 계속 읽어 내려가지 않습니다. 그들은 2절에서 멈추어 얼어붙습니다. 여호와께서 거룩하심같이 거룩해지는 방법에 대한 상세한 설명이 명령 바로 뒤에 옵니다. 이 방법은 명령 그 자체보다 더 중요합니다. 살과 피와 뼈로 이루어진 아담과 이브의 후손인 우리가 어떻게 만군의 여호와께서 거룩하심같이 거룩해질 수 있는지 이해하거나 상상하는 것은 어렵습니다. 이 명령은 우리가 상상하는 데에 어려움을 주는 것입니다. 그렇게 크고 심각한 명령에 걸맞게 살아가는 것은 우리의 본성을 거스르는 것입니다. 하나님께서 이 명령을 주시고 바로 다음에 하나님처럼 거룩해지는 “방법”에 대한 지침이 이어집니다.

여호와처럼 거룩할 수 있는 실제적인 방법을 알려주는 목록입니다.

레위기 19:3: “너희 각 사람은 부모를 경외하고 나의 안식일을 지키라 나는 너희의 하나님 여호와이니라”

레위기 19:4: “너희는 헛된 것들에게로 향하지 말며 너희를 위하여 신상들을 부어 만들지 말라 나는 너희의 하나님 여호와이니라”

레위기 19:5: “너희는 화목제물을 여호와께 드릴 때에 기쁘게 받으시도록 드리고”

레위기 19:11-12: “너희는 도둑질하지 말며 속이지 말며 서로 거짓말하지 말며 12 너희는 내 이름으로 거짓 맹세함으로 네 하나님의 이름을 욕되게 하지 말라 나는 여호와이니라”

레위기 19:13-14: “너는 네 이웃을 억압하지 말며 착취하지 말며 품꾼의 삯을 아침까지 밤새도록 네게 두지 말며 14 너는 귀먹은 자를 저주하지 말며 맹인 앞에 장애물을 놓지 말고 네 하나님을 경외하라 나는 여호와이니라”

레위기 19:15-16: “너희는 재판할 때에 불의를 행하지 말며 가난한 자의 편을 들지 말며 세력 있는 자라고 두둔하지 말고 공의로 사람을 재판할지며 16 너는 네 백성 중에 돌아다니며 사람을 비방하지 말며 네 이웃의 피를 흘려 이익을 도모하지 말라 나는 여호와이니라”

레위기 19:17-18: “너는 네 형제를 마음으로 미워하지 말며 네 이웃을 반드시 견책하라 그러면 네가 그에 대하여 죄를 담당하지 아니하리라 18 원수를 갚지 말며 동포를 원망하지 말며 네 이웃 사랑하기를 네 자신과 같이 사랑하라 나는 여호와이니라”

레위기 19:19: “너희는 내 규례를 지킬지어다 네 가축을 다른 종류와 교미시키지 말며 네 밭에 두 종자를 섞어 뿌리지 말며 두 재료로 직조한 옷을 입지 말지며”

이 구절들을 실행하십시오, 그러면 여러분은 여호와께서 거룩하심같이 거룩해질 것입니다. 이 명령들 중 어떤 것은 간단하게 들리지만, 결코 간단하지 않습니다.

오래 전 저는 “내가 귀먹은 자에게 욕을 한들 무슨 해가 있을까?”, “내가 맹인 앞에 걸림돌을 놓은들 누가 알까?” 궁금해한 적이 있습니다.

귀먹은 자는 듣지 못하니 누가 그에게 욕을 했는지 모를 것이고, 맹인도 마찬가지로 모를 것이므로 죄를 면하기 아주 쉬을 것입니다. 어쩌면 자기 가족의 식탁에 빵을 가져다 놓기 위해 일해야 하는 노동자라면 내가 고용주이기 때문에 나를 고소할 수도 없을 것입니다!

다시 말씀드리지만, 레위기 19:2은 규율이며 율법이고, 이 장의 나머지 부분은 여러분이 하나님께서 거룩하심같이 거룩해지기 위해 여러분이 어떻게 살고 행동해야 하는지 일일이 상세히 설명하는 것입니다.

이 장은 근본적인 것, 특히 우리가 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱의 전능하신 하나님과 맺는 관계에 대해 근본적인 것을 우리에게 가르치고 있습니다. 제게 가장 인상 깊은 것은 이 지침이 아주 간단하여 여러분이 거룩해지기 위해 에베레스트산에 오를 필요가 없다는 것, 보도에 벽돌을 놓아 그것에 걸려 넘어질 수 있는 사람이 있을 수도 있다는 것을 생각해야 한다는 것입니다. 길 건너편 벤치에 앉아 맹인이 걸려 넘어지면서 방금 전 슈퍼마켓에서 산 달걀 한 판을 깨는 것을 보고 깔깔대며 웃지 마십시오.

저는 예루살렘의 어린 녀석일 때 어니스트 스튜어트의 자녀들과 함께 이런 종류의 행동, 즉 한 노인이 손에 달걀 한 판을 들고 가다가 전봇대에 부딪히는 것을 보고 숨어서 웃었던 적이 있음을 고백합니다. 저는 아직도 이런 나쁜 행동이 기억날 때 기분이 별로 좋지 않습니다.

제가 말씀드릴 수 있는 것은 저의 어린 시절 나쁜 행동 때문에 저는 저의 죄를 사해주시도록 메시아 예슈아의 삶과 죽음과 부활을 더욱 더 의지합니다. 저의 어린 시절 어떤 죄 때문에 저는 제가 할 수 있는 한 적극적으로 회개했습니다만, 다른 사람들을 위해서는 저를 사해주시도록 하나님의 아들의 희생의 피를 의지해야 합니다!

그러나 우리가 우리 자신을 사랑하는 것처럼 우리 이웃을 사랑하지 않는 것에 대해서는 변명의 여지가 없습니다. 이 개념은 존 던의 이 시를 연상시킵니다:

그 누구도 섬이 아니다
그 누구도 섬이 아니다,
온통 자기뿐인;
모든 사람은 대륙의 한 부분이다,
덩어리의 한 부분.
흙 한 덩어리가 바다에 씻겨 나가면,
유럽은 더 작아진다,

요셉 슐람의 5월 6일 예루살렘에서의 종양과 상담은 미국 의사들과의 협의를 기다리며 6월에 또 양전자방출단층촬영을 하기로 했습니다. 그리고 췌장암 전문의와 어떤 치료법을 선택할지에 관한 상담도 일정을 잡을 것입니다.

 밧탸 세갈 자매님은 항암 치료 후유증을 겪고 있으며 깨끗한 양전자 방사 단층 촬영 결과를 믿음으로 기다리고 있습니다.

 귀한 일라나 아히저비 자매님은 98세이시며 기억력 문제로 고생하시고 계십니다.

 우리의 귀한 레아 커르키 자매님을 위해 기도해 주시기 바랍니다.

 예루살렘 태생의 사리트 자매님은 88세가 넘으셨고 혼자 살고 계십니다. 가까운 가족이 없고 여러 가지 노인 질환을 앓고 계십니다.

 여러분이 알렉산더와 사라와 앤드류를 위해 기도한 것은 응답받았습니다. 이들은 믿는 자로 자랐으나 믿음에서 떠났었습니다. 하나님의 목자께서 이 한 가족 식구들을 다시 양떼 안으로 인도해 주셨습니다. 이들의 일반적 복지와 영적 복지를 위해서 계속해서 기도해 주시기 바랍니다!

 아담의 부모님인 배리와 달리아를 위해 기도해 주십시오. 이분들도 건강 문제와 어려움이 좀 있습니다.

 홍콩 출신의 귀한 친구 보니가 호주에 살고 있는 그녀의 오빠(혹은 남동생), 레이 첸을 위해 기도해 달라고 부탁했습니다. 레이 첸을 언급하며, 하나님께 이 사람에게 하나님의 은혜와, 몸과 영혼을 고치시는 하나님의 강력한 치유와, 믿음과 거룩하고 신성한 삶의 회복을 보여주시도록 기도해 주시기 바랍니다.

핀란드에서는:

 믿음 안에 귀한 자매인 에스터 자매님은 은혜로 검사를 끝냈고 검사 결과는 좋은 소식입니다. 저희는 여러분의 기도에 대해 감사드립니다.

 마우노 렘포넨 형제님은 상당히 깊어진 암 진단을 받았습니다. 저희는 하나님께서 그에게 그의 가족과 건강히 보내는 날을 주시도록 하나님의 뜻이 이루어지기를 간구하고 있습니다. 서로 의지가 되어주고 있는 힐카, 미이카, 에스터를 위해 기도해 주십시오.

The Jerusalem Prayer List – 11 May, 2024

The reading of this Shabbat is, in my opinion, one of the most important texts in the Torah.

Torah, we will be reading from Leviticus 19:1–20: 27,
Prophets reading Amos 9:7-15,
New Testament from 1 Peter 1:13-16, 1 Corinthians 6:9-20, and John 4:22.

The reason is that this Torah portion (Parasha) teaches us how to be saints and how to be holy. The word Kedoshim means Holy or Sanctified. Most of the time, when we hear Christians speaking about being holy or sanctified, which at best is very rare, then it sounds like an abstract, vague, and impossible demand. Christians, generally speaking, stress much more the teaching of the Apostle Paul in the letter to the Romans:

"There is none righteous, no, not one…" (Romans 3:10).

What most Christians don't know is that Paul is quoting verbatim Ecclesiastes 7:20. If we look in the New Testament, we find the following texts that state clearly that some people are called righteous:

Mark 2:17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."

Luke 1:5-6, "There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah. His wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. 6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless."

Luke 5:31 Jesus answered and said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."

Luke 23:47 So when the centurion saw what had happened, he glorified God, saying, "Certainly this was a righteous Man!"

James 5:16, "Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much."

In The Hebrew Bible, we find the following men and women called "Righteous"!

Noah is described as righteous in Genesis 6:9. Lot is called righteous in 2 Peter 2:7-8. The prophet Daniel is also called righteous in Ezekiel 14:14. These individuals were recognized for their uprightness, faithfulness to God, and obedience to His commandments.

I could bring more texts that speak of righteous men and women.

So, what is Paul conveying when he brings these quotations and statements from the New and Old Testaments? With this picture of Biblical reality, it is clear that Paul's quoting of Ecclesiastes 7:20 has a different interpretation than the standard Christian viewpoint inherited from the Greek Church fathers from the 4th Century through time up to Martin Luther and John Calvin. These theologians interpret Paul through the eyes of the pagan Greek philosophers with a Persian view of humanity and the Universe.

Here is the interpretation of the text in Ecclesiastes 7:20 from the Jewish perspective and history.

"For there is not a just (righteous) man on earth who does good And does not sin." (Ecclesiastes 7:20).

The Apostle Paul quotes this verse and presumes you know how to read the Bible. He presumes you are a good and faithful Pharisee who learned to read carefully and accurately in God's Word.

This text is again: "For there is not a just (righteous) man on earth who does good And does not sin."

Does this text say that no one is righteous? No, it does not!
What does this text say? It says that no one who is righteous is perfect and that even the righteous person sometimes sins. The verse's second half proves that even the righteous, the Just man who does good, also sins sometimes.

Continuing with the main Torah text of Leviticus 19, which starts with a God-given command: Leviticus 19:1
"And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2 "Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say to them: "You shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy."

This text is a clear command! This text is not a recommendation. It is an emphatic command: "You shall be holy! The reason that you shall be Holy is because "I the LORD your God am Holy!" This verse is quoted more often in the rest of the Bible than in any other text! In the New Testament, this text is mentioned in the following texts:

Matthew 5:43 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy."'

Matthew 19:19: "Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'"

Matthew 22:39: "And the second is like it: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'"

Mark 12:31: "And the second, like it, is this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."

Romans 13:9: "For the commandments, "You shall not commit adultery," "You shall not murder," "You shall not steal," "You shall not bear false witness," "You shall not covet," and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

Galatians 5:14: "For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

James 2:8: "If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well;"

This text from Leviticus 19 is also alluded to in the following texts in the New Testament: Matthew 5:48, Luke 1:74-75, 2 Corinthians 6:14-16, u:1, Ephesians 4:24, Hebrews 12:14, 1 Peter 1:15-16, and 2 Peter 3:11.

So, what is the difficulty with this text? Most Christians don't continue to read the text of Leviticus 19 – they stop in verse 2 and freeze. The detailed explanation of how to be holy, like the Lord is holy, comes immediately after the command. This how-to is of greater importance than the command itself. It is difficult for us, made from flesh, blood, and bone, to understand or imagine how we, the children of Adam and Eve, can be holy like the Lord of Hosts Himself is Holy. The command is challenging for us to imagine. Living up to such a tall and serious command goes against our nature. God gives the command and immediately follows with the instruction booklet on HOW TO be holy like God.

Here is a shopping list of practical ways to be holy like the Lord.

Leviticus 19:3: "Every one of you shall revere his mother and his father, and keep My Sabbaths: I am the LORD your God."

Leviticus 19:4: "Do not turn to idols, nor make for yourselves molded gods: I am the LORD your God."

Leviticus 19:5: "And if you offer a sacrifice of a peace offering to the LORD, you shall offer it of your own free will."

Leviticus 19:11: "You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie to one another. 12 And you shall not swear by My name falsely, nor shall you profane the name of your God: I am the LORD."

Leviticus 19:13: "You shall not cheat your neighbor, nor rob him. The wages of him who is hired shall not remain with you all night until morning. 14 You shall not curse the deaf, nor put a stumbling block before the blind, but shall fear your God: I am the LORD."

Leviticus 19:15: "You shall do no injustice in judgment. You shall not be partial to the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty. In righteousness, you shall judge your neighbor. 16 You shall not go about as a talebearer among your people; nor shall you take a stand against the life of your neighbor: I am the LORD."

Leviticus 19:17: "You shall not hate your brother in your heart. You shall surely rebuke your neighbor, and not bear sin because of him. 18 You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.

Leviticus 19:19: "You shall keep My statutes. You shall not let your livestock breed with another kind. You shall not sow your field with mixed seed. Nor shall a garment of mixed linen and wool come upon you."

Practice these verses, and you will be holy like the Lord is holy. Some of these commands sound simple, but they are anything but simple.

Years ago, I wondered, "What damage will it be if I curse the deaf?" "Who would know if I put a stumbling block before a blind person?"

It would be incredibly easy to get away with because the deaf would not know who cursed him as he didn't hear, and the Blind man would not know the same thing. Perhaps the worker who needed to work to put bread on his family's table couldn't accuse me because I was the boss!

Let me repeat that Leviticus 19:2 is the rule and the law, the rest of the chapter is a detailed breakdown of how you have to live and behave to achieve the status of being holy like God is holy.

This chapter teaches us something fundamental, especially about our relationship with the Almighty Gods of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Most impressive for me is that these instructions are so simple, and you don't have to climb Mount Everest to be holy; you have to be considerate with those who could stumble and fall by putting a brick in front of them on the sidewalk. Don't sit on a bench across the street and laugh your heart out, watching a blind person stumble and break the egg carton that he just purchased in the supper market.

I confess that as a young lad in Jerusalem, together with the children of Ernest Stewart, we did this kind of thing, and we hid and laughed and had fun watching an older man run into the electric pole holding a carton of 30 eggs in his hands. I still do not feel good about these bad deeds.

All I can say is that my childhood's bad deeds have caused me to rely more on the life, death, and resurrection of Yeshua, the Messiah, to forgive my sins. For some of my old childhood sins, I repented actively because I could, but for others, I have to trust the blood of the sacrifice of God's son to forgive me!

However, no excuse exists for not loving our neighbors as we love ourselves. This concept is reminiscent of this poem from John Dunne:

No Man Is an Island
No man is an island,
Entire of itself;
Every man is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less,
As well as if a promontory were:
As well as if a manor of thy friend's
Or of thine own were.
Any man's death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind.
And therefore, never send to know for whom the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee.

Love your neighbor as yourselves! It is a source of great joy to celebrate our relationship to the community and to love all, the young and the old, the healthy and the sick, those who give and those who receive, and for each one to remember the blood of Yeshua was shed for all!

Your prayers for brothers and sisters you don’t know personally is a pure love and building of the Body of the Messiah. It is Agape Love since you are doing this without any selfish interests and casting a vote in heaven for someone who is your brother. Still, you don't know them, and God looks at these prayers that are unselfish and genuine expression of love and care for another link in the long chain of love and faith that binds us together even though we might not know each other in this world.

When we all get to Heaven, it will be a joy to meet people we prayed for and sometimes even cried for. Brothers and sisters who are physically strangers but spiritually a part of the same body of Christ, I believe that one day we will have the privilege to sit together and share: "I remember praying for you to be healed!" "I remember praying for you to be safe when you were fighting in Gaza to free the hostages from the cruel hands of the terrorists of the Hamas in Gaza."

Dads next oncology consultation in Jerusalem on 6th of May resulted in an agreement with the USA doctors to wait and do another PET CT in June. In addition a new consultation with a Pancreatic Cancer specialist regrading options for treatment will be scheduled.

 Batya Segal is coping with the cancer treatment's effects and is faithfully waiting for clean PET Scan results.

 Ilana Ahijervie is a dear sister who is 98 years old and suffering from memory problems.

 Please pray for our dear sister, Lea Kurkey.

 Sarit, a sister born in Jerusalem, is over 88 years old and lives alone. She has no close family and suffers from several old-age illnesses.

 Your prayers for Alexander, Sarah, and Andrew, who were raised as believers but have left their faith behind, have been answered. The Divine Shepherd guided these members of the same family gently back to the fold. Please keep praying for their general and spiritual welfare!

 Pray for Adam’s father and mother, Barry and Dalia. They have some health problems and challenges.

 Pray for Miriam and Hannah, her daughter. Miriam is a dear sister and has lost her husband recently.

 Pray for Daniel S. and his children.

 Pray for the Congregations related to Netivyah in Brazil to have the strength and stamina to face the challenges ahead of them with courage and strength of faithfulness to the Lord and to the vision of the restoration of the church and Israel.

 Pray for the millions of victims of the Spanish and Portuguese Inquisition who have been forced to convert to the Catholic church and now want to return home to the land of Israel and to the faith of our fathers.

 Pray for the state of Israel to open the doors for these lost Jews to be able to return and fulfill God’s promises to the prophet Ovadyah:

“But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, And there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. The captives of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad Shall possess the cities of the South.  Pray for a dear young man, Paulo, from Curitiba, Brazil, who seriously needs our prayers for sanity and mental health.

 Please pray for a dear sister named Claudia Rita Souze Arau. She has cancer and needs God’s healing hands to touch her with healing.

 Fatima Maria Docarmo Guimararaes - pray for her health and her granddaughters’ twin babies.

 Pray for Livia Schnell Nothen. She has some issues with her physical health and a growth in her adrenal gland.

 Guilherme Antonio Nothen Becker is suffering from back problems.

 Aratuza de Oliveira and his wife. Pray for their 3-year-old child, Caique de Oliveira Becker, who has severe problems with his eyes, and ask the Lord to give healing to his eyes.

 A 70-year-old Pastor, Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias, is the father of a dear sister in Brazil and suffers from diabetes.

 Pray for Roberto Morias, a dear brother who is going through heart surgery and an angiogram.

 Please pray for dear sister Bee Kim, a 71-year-old who lost consciousness on February 26, 2023. She has not regained her consciousness after a massive stroke.

 Pray for sister Reiko Ishiida, Elder Takeo, his wife Tomoko from Tokyo, Dr. Yuizawa, Pastor Yushida and his family.

 In India, Pastor Isaac, from Chennai, needs our prayers. Pastor Isaac is suffering from kidney problems and has to have dialysis several times per week.

new Larry is asking for prayers for his grandchildren. I would say most of us that have grandchildren are concerned about the states of the world. The state of intolerance. The temptations out there. Please pray for the holy sprit to guide them in making good choices.

new Bill C. is having some additional test this week. We all dont like additional test so we can relate to this. Pray for Jill supporting him.

praise Sue Earnest is Marcia's sister in-laws Mother. She has recovered from her fall and surgery.

 Brother Philip Slate and his wife. She is suffering from several physical and mental health challenges.

 Drayton Ford (Marcia's great nephew), age 14, has had health issues related to mold exposure that are affecting his ability to heal and participate in public school with mold contamination. Please pray for the family to have support and peace in the choices they need to make for Drayton's health and schooling.

 Barbra and Angie in Alaska. Barbra has some pains and discomfort related to old age. Please lift them in prayer for strength and reduction in pain.

 Ray Jimenez from California is batteling leukemia. Pray for God to sustain him and his time with the family.

 Please continue to pray for the daughter of Bill Culwell, who is very sick with cancer and is receiving a second round of treatment. Please pray for success and healing.

 Jonathan Bernis is in a long six-month recovery from a liver transplant. We thank God for this match. Please pray for this new liver to function and provide much-needed function. Please pray for Elisangela and the girls and the doctors and nurses attending our dear brother Jonathan Bernis.

 Andrew Huffines has complications from long-term COVID-19.

 Please pray for my family in the United States: Barry, my son, and his wife, Beth, and for Joey, my grandson. Pray for their divine protection and health.

 Please pray for Danah, my daughter's health issues. I pray for the Lord to give Danah wisdom, peace, and calm in life and her work.

 Pray for Noaam, my granddaughter. She is working two jobs now and needs good health and wisdom to make the right choices and plans for life, education, immigration to Israel, and just general protection from all harm.

 Pray for David Young, the preacher in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, who is back to preaching after recovering from medical issues.

 Aaron Hook, Nancy Hook’s oldest son, needs our prayers for wisdom and healing from past life issues.

 Lift for blessing and healing Jonathan B., his wife Aviva, their new baby, his mother, and his brother Daniel.

 Pray for these important men of God: Rabbi Salt, his family, and Rabbi Hasselblad. They are both older and need protection and blessings.

 Also, pray for Ilana Avramov, who is married to my cousin Nissim and lives in New York City. Ilana has fallen and is now in rehab, learning how to walk again. We pray for her full recovery. She and Nissim both need our prayers.

 Pray for Steve Mock - His cognitive condition has declined, and we ask for the grace of God and His Healing and strength. Steve and Josie’s son Joseph has received a wonderful and glorious report. After the last bone marrow transplant, the report is that the doctors didn’t find any leukemia in his body! Praise the Lord!
