번역: 김미애 의의 면류관 바울이 디모데와 디도에게 쓴 서신인 디모데전ㆍ후서와 디도서는 목자들과 하나님의 집 사역에 부름받은 사람들에게 안내서와 지침서로 알려져 있습니다. 이들 서신은 지도자들에게 그들의 개인적 삶과 회중을 인도하고 가르침에 있어서 성결과 거룩과 예절 면에서의 지침뿐만 아니라 경고와 권면도 주고 있습니다. 바울은 죽음에 가까워지던 때 디모데후서 4장에서 디모데에게 그의 마지막 지침을 주었습니다. 5절에서 그는 디모데에게 끝까지 깨어 있고 전도자로서 모든 싸움을 견디라고 권면합니다. 바울 자신도 평생 예슈아를 위해 많은 고난을 받았습니다. 고린도후서 11장 16절에서 33절까지 기록된 바와 같이, 그는 내쳐지고, 비방당하고, 매 맞고, 거의 죽을 뻔하고, 돌 맞고, 거의 물에 빠져 죽을 뻔했습니다. 그 자신 유대인과 이방인과 거짓 선지자들에 의해 위험에 처했고, 주리며 목마르고 여러 번 굶고 춥고 헐벗었습니다. 바울은 자신에게 집중하는 것이 아니라 회중과 하나님의 백성의 필요를 돌보는 일에 집중하면서 예슈아를 위해 이러한 일들을 겪었습니다. 33절에서 우리는 바울이 목숨을 건지기 위해 어떻게 광주리를 타고 들창문으로 성벽을 내려가 피신했는지를 읽습니다. 저는 여기에서 자신에 대해서는 염려하지 않으나 주를 섬기는 일에는 완전히 헌신된 한 사람을 봅니다. 다시 디모데후서로 돌아가서, 4장 7절에서 바울은 “나는 선한 싸움을 싸우고 나의 달려갈 길을 마치고 믿음을 지켰으니”라고 말합니다. 바울은 세상으로부터 의/공의의 결여를 느끼고 경험했을지라도, 그의 마음과 생각과 영혼은 의의 면류관을 향하고 있었습니다. 예슈아를 사랑하며 이 세상의 여러 곳에서 살고 있는 이 시대 우리는 어떤가요? 우리는 바울이 디모데에게 가르친 대로 어떻게 경성/깨어 있을 수 있을까요? 무엇보다 우리는 우리가 이 세상에서 살고 있다는 것과 이 세상은 하나님의 말씀에 거스르고 있다는 것을 알아야 합니다. 믿는 이들을 그들의 삶 속에서 하나님의 목적에서 멀리 떼어놓으려는 영들이 있습니다. 우리는 이런 일이 일어날 때 그것이 이 세상의 선인지 아니면 이 세상의 악과 고통인지를 알아차려야 합니다. 지난 세 달 동안 저는 미디어가 두려움과 분열과 불안과 분노와 원한과 쓴 마음과 의심 등의 씨를 뿌림으로써 어떻게 하나님의 뜻에 반하게 쓰이고 있는지를 깨달았습니다. 저는 제게 말하고 저를 깨어 있게 해주는 유일한 미디어는 하나님의 말씀뿐이라는 것을 알게 되었는데요, 거기에서 그분의 약속과 마지막 때에 대한 미래의 부르심을 볼 수 있기 때문입니다. 예슈아를 믿는 자로서 저는 이 세상으로부터 받아들이는 정보의 양을 줄여야 합니다. 그래야 그것이 저를 하늘이 면류관으로부터 멀어지도록 하지 않을 테니까요. 우리는 이 지구에서 우리의 마지막 숨을 쉴 때 바울이 디모데에게 말한 것과 같이 말할 수 있게 될까요? “나는 선한 싸움을 싸우고 나의 달려갈 길을 마치고 믿음을 지켰으니” ------------------------------------------------------- Crown of Righteousness The epistles written by Paul to Timothy and Titus are known as the epistles for the guidance and instruction of the shepherds and those who are called to ministry in the house of God. In the epistles the leaders are given warnings and encouragement as well as instruction in the areas of purity, holiness and manners; for their individual lives and for their ability to guide and instruct the congregation. Paul, in 2 Timothy 4 gave his final instruction to Timothy when close to death. In verse 5 he asks Timothy to remain awake and to stand in the face of all struggles as an evangelist until the end. Paul himself, throughout his lifetime, suffered much for Yeshua. As written in 2 Corinthians 11:16-33, he was rejected, slandered, beaten, close to death, stoned and he almost drowned. He found himself endangered by Jews, Gentiles and false prophets; suffering from famine and thirst and while often fasting he was cold and naked. These things Paul suffered for Yeshua while focusing not on himself but while caring for the needs of the congregation and the people of God. In vs 33 we read how, in order to save his life, Paul escaped by being lowered through a window in a basket. What I see here is a person that is not worried about self but fully committed to serving the Lord. Going back to 2 Timothy 4:7, Paul says, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." Even though Paul felt and experienced the lack of justice/righteousness from the world, his heart, mind and soul was toward the crown of righteousness. What about us today in our times, those of us who love Yeshua and live in different places in the world? How can we stay watchful/awake/alert as Paul instructed Timothy? First of all we must be aware that we are living in this world and that this world is against the word of God. There are spirits which will try to pull the believers away from God's purpose in their lives and we must recognize when this is happening. Whether it's the goodness of this world or the evil and suffering of this world. In the last three months I have realized how the media is used mainly against God's will by sowing seeds of fear, division, insecurity, anger, resentment, bitterness, doubt and so on. I myself find that the only media which speaks to me and keeps me alert is the word of God because there I find His promises and future calling for the end times. As a believer in Yeshua I must decrease the amount of information I intake from the world so it will not take me away from the heavenly crown. Will we say, as Paul did to Timothy, with our last breath on this planet? "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course I have kept the faith." |
