신명기는 토라 중에서, 그리고 사실 모든 성경 중에서 독특한 책입니다. 신명기는 이스라엘 자손이 요단강을 건너 하나님께서 이스라엘의 영원한 유업으로 약속하신 가나안 땅에 들어가기 전 모세가 요단강가에서 한 연설입니다. 모세는 요단강 동편에 남아 이스라엘 자손이 요단강을 건너는 것을 볼 것이었습니다. 모세는 홀로 요단강 동편의 가장 높은 산 중 하나에 올라 그곳에서 죽을 것이었습니다. 전승에 의하면, 하나님께서 모세를 묻어주셨고 아무도 그의 무덤이 어디인지 모릅니다.

이번 안식일 토라 포션은 쇼프팀 = 재판장들이라고 부르는 신명기 16:18~21:9입니다.
선지서에서 읽는 부분은 이사야 51:12~52:12입니다.
신약성경에서 읽는 부분은 요한복음 14:9-20입니다.

토라와 선지서를 읽는 관습은 오래된 것으로, 이스라엘 자손이 바벨론 포로에서 되돌아온 에스라와 느헤미야 시대까지 거슬러 올라갑니다. 그 때 이전에는 오직 성전에서 섬기는 제사장들만 토라 두루마리에 접근할 수 있었습니다. 신약성경에서는 회당을 41번 언급합니다. 예수님께서는 회당에 가셔서 이사야 61장 말씀을 읽으셨습니다. 사도 바울은 매 안식일마다 회당에 갔는데요, 심지어 그리스, 소아시아, 예루살렘으로 여행하는 중에도 그랬습니다.

신약성경 사도행전 15장에서 사도들은 바울과 실라와 다른 사람들과 만나 예슈아의 희생으로 구원받은 이방인들의 의무를 논의했습니다.

“그러므로 내 판결은 이러하니 곧 우리가 이방인들 가운데서 [하나님]께 돌아온 자들을 괴롭게 하지 말고 다만 그들에게 글을 써서 그들이 우상들의 더러운 것과 음행과 목매어 죽인 것과 피를 멀리하게 하자는 것이라. 옛적부터 모세에게는 각 도시에서 그를 선포하는 자들이 있어 안식일마다 회당들에서 모세의 글을 읽느니라, 하더라. 이에 사도들과 장로들이 온 교회와 더불어 자기들의 동료 중에서 택한 사람들을 바울과 바나바와 함께 안디옥으로 보내는 것을 기쁘게 여기니라. 그들은 곧 형제들 가운데 주요 인물인 바사바라 하는 유다와 실라더라.” (사도행전 15:19-22, 킹제임스흠정역)

이방인들은 회당에 가서 토라 낭독을 들어야 합니다. 사도들은 그리스도의 몸 안의 비-유대인들에게 왜 이런 명령 혹은 권고를 내렸을까요? 그 대답은 간단합니다 – 사람들이 성경을 가지고 있지 않았기 때문입니다. 마을 회당은 하나님의 말씀을 들을 수 있는 유일한 곳이었습니다. “회당(시나고그)”이라는 단어는 헬라어 두 단어 “신” – 함께 – 공동체 – 이라는 단어와 “고그” – 모이는 장소 – 건물 – 라는 단어에서 파생된 단어입니다. 초대교회 때 예슈아의 사도들이 명령한 다른 모든 명령들처럼, 이 명령은 의도적으로 혹은 무지에서 간과되고 무시되고 있습니다.

선지서에서 읽는 부분(하프타라) 중 이사야 51:1-17입니다:

“의를 따르며 여호와를 찾아 구하는 너희는 내게 들을지어다 너희를 떠낸 반석과 너희를 파낸 우묵한 구덩이를 생각하여 보라 너희의 조상 아브라함과 너희를 낳은 사라를 생각하여 보라 아브라함이 혼자 있을 때에 내가 그를 부르고 그에게 복을 주어 창성하게 하였느니라 나 여호와가 시온의 모든 황폐한 곳들을 위로하여 그 사막을 에덴 같게, 그 광야를 여호와의 동산 같게 하였나니 그 가운데에 기뻐함과 즐거워함과 감사함과 창화하는 소리가 있으리라 내 백성이여 내게 주의하라 내 나라여 내게 귀를 기울이라 이는 율법이 내게서부터 나갈 것임이라 내가 내 공의를 만민의 빛으로 세우리라 내 공의가 가깝고 내 구원이 나갔은즉 내 팔이 만민을 심판하리니 섬들이 나를 앙망하여 내 팔에 의지하리라 너희는 하늘로 눈을 들며 그 아래의 땅을 살피라 하늘이 연기 같이 사라지고 땅이 옷 같이 해어지며 거기에 사는 자들이 하루살이 같이 죽으려니와 나의 구원은 영원히 있고 나의 공의는 폐하여지지 아니하리라
“의를 아는 자들아, 마음에 내 율법이 있는 백성들아, 너희는 내게 듣고 그들의 비방을 두려워하지 말라 그들의 비방에 놀라지 말라 옷 같이 좀이 그들을 먹을 것이며 양털 같이 좀벌레가 그들을 먹을 것이나 나의 공의는 영원히 있겠고 나의 구원은 세세에 미치리라 여호와의 팔이여 깨소서 깨소서 능력을 베푸소서 옛날 옛시대에 깨신 것 같이 하소서 라합을 저미시고 용을 찌르신 이가 어찌 주가 아니시며 바다를, 넓고 깊은 물을 말리시고 바다 깊은 곳에 길을 내어 구속 받은 자들을 건너게 하신 이가 어찌 주가 아니시니이까 여호와께 구속 받은 자들이 돌아와 노래하며 시온으로 돌아오니 영원한 기쁨이 그들의 머리 위에 있고 즐거움과 기쁨을 얻으리니 슬픔과 탄식이 달아나리이다
“이르시되 너희를 위로하는 자는 나 곧 나이니라 너는 어떠한 자이기에 죽을 사람을 두려워하며 풀 같이 될 사람의 아들을 두려워하느냐 하늘을 펴고 땅의 기초를 정하고 너를 지은 자 여호와를 어찌하여 잊어버렸느냐 너를 멸하려고 준비하는 저 학대자의 분노를 어찌하여 항상 종일 두려워하느냐 학대자의 분노가 어디 있느냐 결박된 포로가 속히 놓일 것이니 죽지도 아니할 것이요 구덩이로 내려가지도 아니할 것이며 그의 양식이 부족하지도 아니하리라 나는 네 하나님 여호와라 바다를 휘저어서 그 물결을 뒤흔들게 하는 자이니 그의 이름은 만군의 여호와니라 내가 내 말을 네 입에 두고 내 손 그늘로 너를 덮었나니 이는 내가 하늘을 펴며 땅의 기초를 정하며 시온에게 이르기를 너는 내 백성이라 말하기 위함이니라 ​
“여호와의 손에서 그의 분노의 잔을 마신 예루살렘이여 깰지어다 깰지어다 일어설지어다 네가 이미 비틀걸음 치게 하는 큰 잔을 마셔 다 비웠도다”

선지서에서 읽는 부분 – 하프타라 – 은 예언적이며 전 세계 유대민족의 심장을 꿰뚫는 화살과 같습니다. 이사야 51장 말씀은 제 심장을 꿰뚫는 화살입니다. 저는 이번 안식일에 회당에 가서 이 이사야 말씀 낭독을 듣는 전 세계 수백만 유대인들은 이스라엘과 그 땅과 그 백성의 상태를 묘사하는 하나님의 말씀에 울거나 떨며 울 것 같습니다. 이사야의 이 말씀은 오늘날 이스라엘 땅과 이스라엘 나라에 적용됩니다.

성경적으로 말하자면, 이스라엘의 전쟁들과 오랫동안 계속되는 미움과 이스라엘 땅 삼면을 둘러싼 이웃 나라들과의 교전은 언제나 있었습니다. 이 땅에는 평화가 오래 지속된 적이 없습니다. 이 땅에서의 유대민족의 역사는 이따금 나로 하여금 생각하게 만듭니다. 하나님께서는 아브라함의 씨에서 만드신 이 민족을 사랑하십니다. 그런데 하나님께서는 왜 아브라함을 남쪽으로 보내어, 동쪽으로는 아라비아사막이 있고 서쪽으로는 지중해가 있고 북쪽과 남쪽으로 두 제국(남쪽으로는 아프리카 대륙에 이집트, 북쪽으로는 앗수르, 바벨론, 페르시아(지금의 이란))이 있는 이 좁은 땅으로 오게 하셨을까요? 하나님, 왜, 저희를 서쪽으로 스위스로 보내지 않으셨나요? 스페인이나 포르투갈이었어도 좋았을 텐데요. 이 민족의 조상들, 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱의 분투도 이미 그들 당시에 시작되었습니다. 이 민족의 조상들 중 이교 이웃 나라와 문제가 없고 다툼이 없었던 조상이 하나라도 있습니까?

저, 요셉 슐람이 누구라고 하나님의 지혜와 그분의 소중한 소유인 아브라함의 씨, 이스라엘 민족, 책의 민족을 다루시는 법을 의심하겠습니까! 하나님께서는 왜 하나님을 믿지 않는 끔찍한 광야 거주자들이 이스라엘을 박해하고 테러를 행하는 것을 허용하시는 것일까요? 만약 이스라엘이 없었다면, 그들이 그들의 형제들에게 똑같이 했을까요? 제1차 세계대전 후에 유대인들이 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 유업으로 주신 이 땅으로 귀향하도록 하나님께서 이스라엘 땅의 문을 여시기 전에, 아랍인들은 서로 평화롭게 살았을까요? 아브라함이 창조주 하나님의 권위 아래 이 땅에 내려왔을 때, 유럽, 아시아, 아프리카에서 이교도 일곱 민족이 이곳으로 모여들었고, 그들은 모두 서로 싸우고 전쟁을 했습니다.

제 자신이 내린 답은 하나님께서 아브라함을 이곳으로 보내 이 땅을 아브라함의 씨에게 영원한 소유로 주셨다는 것입니다. 이것은 유명한 가수 죠니 캐시의 노래 “수라는 이름의 사내아이” 같습니다! 이 노래에 제가 강조하는 가사가 있습니다. 저는 보통은 이렇게 하지 않지만, 이스라엘의 역사가 왜 그렇게 복잡하고 가혹하고 도전적인지 보여주고, 하나님께서 왜 이스라엘을 거룩한 제사장 나라가 되어 이 세상의 나머지 나라들을 우리 아버지이며 창조주이신 하나님께 가까이 데려오도록 섬기도록 선택하셨는지 설명하기 위해 저는 “수라는 이름의 사내아이”라는 죠니 캐시의 노래가 좋은 예인 것 같다는 생각이 들었습니다. 평소 답지 않게 이 예루살렘 기도 목록에 그 가사를 가져왔습니다.

그렇습니다, 하나님께서 지으신 두 다리로 걷는 포유동물, 아브라함의 씨, 이스라엘은 회백질로 가득한 머리가 있고, 생각할 수 있고, 사랑할 수 있고, 싫어할 수 있고, 거듭날 수 있고 우리에게 “이스라엘”(수!)이라는 이름을 주신 하늘에 계신 우리 아버지처럼 거룩할 수 있습니다!

저는 제가 제 부모님에게, 유대인으로, 키가 작고, 코가 크고, 완고하고 고집 세게 태어난 것에 대해 하나님께 화가 나거나 기분이 언짢지 않습니다! 저는 하나님께서 만들기로 의도하신 대로의 저라서 기쁜데요, 그 이유는 열여섯 살 때 도전에 응하고 이른 나이부터 제 사명과 삶의 목적을 알았기 때문입니다.

유대인의 왕 예슈아께서는 여전히 유대인이시고 이스라엘인이시며 이스라엘 예루살렘으로 다시 오실 것이며, 친애하는 형제님들, 여러분이 이스라엘과 전 세계 유대인과 동일시해야 하는 이유가 되십니다. 우리의 구주시며 아랍인, 이란인, 러시아인, 우크라이나인의 구주께서는 여전히 유대인이시기에, 만약 여러분이 그분의 동포 유대인 형제들을 박해하고 해를 끼친다면, 언짢아지실 것입니다. 유대인들은 세상에서 성부와 성자와 성령께서 하신 다음과 같은 약속을 가진 유일한 민족입니다:

여러분이 개인적으로 모르는 형제자매들을 위해 드리는 기도는 순전한 사랑이며 메시아의 몸을 세우는 것입니다. 여러분이 이기적인 이해관계 없이 여러분이 모르지만 형제인 누군가를 위해 천국에서 투표를 하는 것이기에 이것은 아가페 사랑입니다. 그리고 하나님께서는 우리가 이 세상에서는 서로 모를지라도 우리를 함께 묶는 사랑과 믿음의 긴 사슬로 연결된 다른 사람을 위해 하는 이기적이지 않고 참된 사랑과 관심의 표현인 이 기도를 보고 계십니다.

우리가 천국에 가서 우리가 위해서 기도했고 때로는 울부짖었던 사람들을 만나게 되면 기쁜 일일 것입니다. 그들은 육신적으로는 모르지만 영적으로는 같은 그리스도의 몸의 지체인 형제자매들로서, 언젠가 함께 앉아 “제가 당신이 치유되도록 기도한 것이 기억납니다!”, “당신이 가자지구 하마스 테러리스트들의 잔인한 손아귀에서 인질들을 구하기 위해 가자지구에서 싸울 때 제가 당신이 안전하도록 기도한 것이 기억납니다!” 이야기 나누는 특권을 누리게 될 이들입니다.

하나님의 은혜와, 치유와 힘을 주시는 하나님의 부드러운 손길이 필요한 다음 형제자매님들을 위해 기도해 주십시오.

The Jerusalem Prayer List – 6 September, 2024

Deuteronomy is a unique book in the Torah and, in fact, in all the Bible. The book of Deuteronomy is the speech Moses gave on the shores of the Jordan River before the children of Israel crossed to the land of Canaan, which God promised as Israel's everlasting inheritance. Moses would then stay behind on the east side of the Jordan River and watch the children of Israel cross the Jordan. Alone, Moses would climb one of the highest mountains east of the Jordan and die there. According to Tradition, God would bury Moses, and no one knows where his grave is.

This Shabbat, the Torah portion is called Shoftim = Judges. Deuteronomy 16:18–21:9.
The reading from the Prophets is from Isaiah 51:12-52:12.
From the New Testament, John 14:9-20.

The custom of reading the Torah and the Prophets is ancient, dating back to Ezra and Nehemiah when the children of Israel returned from Babylonian exile. Before that time, only the priests in the temple had access to the Torah scriptures. The New Testament mentions synagogues 41 times. Jesus went to the synagogue to read from Isaiah 61. The Apostle Paul went to the synagogue every Shabbat, even in all his travels in Greece, Asia Minor, and Jerusalem.

In the New Testament, in Acts 15, the apostles, together with Paul, Silas, and others, met to discuss the obligation of the Gentiles saved by Yeshua's sacrifice.

"Therefore, I judge that we should not trouble those from among the Gentiles who are turning to God, but that we write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from things strangled, and from blood. For Moses has had throughout many generations those who preach him in every city, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath." Then it pleased the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, namely, Judas who was also named Barabas, and Silas, leading men among the brethren." (Acts 15:19-22 NKJV)

The Gentiles need to go to a synagogue to hear the Torah read. Why did the Apostles issue this command or recommendation for the non-Jews in the Body of Christ? The answer is simple – people didn't have Bibles in their possession. The community synagogue was the only place to hear God's word. "Synagogue" derives from two Greek words: "Syn" – together – community – "Gogue," a place of gathering a building. Like all the other commands that the Apostles of Yeshua commanded in the early church, this command is ignored and neglected on purpose or out of ignorance.

The reading from the Prophets (The Haftarah) is from Isaiah 51:1-23.

"Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness, you who seek the Lord: look to the rock from which you were hewn, and to the quarry from which you were dug. ​Look to Abraham, your father, and to Sarah who bore you; for he was but one when I called him, that I might bless him and multiply him. For the Lord comforts Zion; he comforts all her waste places and makes her wilderness like Eden, her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the voice of song. "Give attention to me, my people, and give ear to me, my nation; for a law will go out from me, and I will set my justice for a light to the peoples. My righteousness draws near, my salvation has gone out, and my arms will judge the peoples; the coastlands hope for me, and for my arm, they wait. ​Lift up your eyes to the heavens and look at the earth beneath; for the heavens vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment, and they who dwell in it will die in like manner; but my salvation will be forever, and my righteousness will never be dismayed.

"Listen to me, you who know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear not the reproach of man, nor be dismayed at their revilings. ​For the moth will eat them up like a garment, and the worm will eat them like wool, but my righteousness will be forever, and my salvation to all generations." Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the Lord; awake, as in days of old, the generations of long ago. Was it not you who cut Rahab in pieces, who pierced the dragon? Was it not you who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep, who made the depths of the sea a way for the redeemed to pass over? ​And the ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

"I, I am he who comforts you; who are you that you are afraid of man who dies, of the son of man who is made like grass, and have forgotten the Lord, your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth, and you fear continually all the day because of the wrath of the oppressor when he sets himself to destroy? And where is the wrath of the oppressor? He who is bowed down shall speedily be released; he shall not die and go down to the pit, neither shall his bread be lacking. ​I am the Lord your God, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar— the Lord of hosts is his name. ​And I have put my words in your mouth and covered you in the shadow of my hand, setting up the heavens and laying the foundations of the earth, and saying to Zion, 'You are my people.'"

“Wake yourself, wake yourself, stand up, O Jerusalem, you who have drunk from the hand of the Lord the cup of his wrath, who have drunk to the dregs the bowl, the cup of staggering."

The reading from the Prophets – the Haftarah- is prophetic and like an arrow into the heart of the Jewish Nation worldwide. The words of Isaiah 51 are an arrow into my heart. I am sure that millions of Jews around the whole world who go to synagogue on this next Shabbat and hear these words of Isaiah read – will either cry or shake and cry at such clear words from God that describe the state of affairs of Israel, the land and the people. These words of Isaiah apply today to the land of Israel and the nation of Israel.

Biblically speaking, the wars of Israel, the perennial hate and hostility of our neighbors surrounding the land of Israel from three sides have always been there. This land has never had peace for a long time. The history of the Jewish nation in this land at times made me think. God loves this nation that He created from the seed of Abraham, so why did he send Abraham south to this narrow strip of land between the vast Arabian Desert on the East and the Mediterranean Sea on the West, and both north and south two empires one in Africa in the south, Egypt. The other empires in the north were Assyria, Babylon, Persia, and now Iran. Why, God, why didn't you send us west to Switzerland? Even Spain and Portugal would have been just fine. The struggles of the fathers of this nation, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, already began in their own days. Is there one of the fathers of this nation that didn't have problems and struggles with the pagan neighbors?

Who am I, Joseph Shulam, to doubt God's wisdom and treatment of His prized possession, The Seed of Abraham, the nation of Israel, the people of the book! Why is God allowing these infidel, horrible desert dwellers to persecute and terrorize Israel? If they didn't have Israel, they would do the same to their brothers. Before God opened the doors of the Land of Israel after World War I for Jewish people to return home to the land given to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as an inheritance, did the Arabs live in peace with each other? When Abraham landed in this land under the authority of the Creator God Himself, seven pagan nations gathered here from Europe, Asia, and Africa, and they all fought and had wars with each other.

The answer that I have for myself is that God sent Abraham here and gave this land to Abraham's seed as an everlasting possession, in my opinion. It is like the famous singer Johnny Cash's song "A Boy Named Sue!" Here are the words that I emphasize in this song. I usually don't do this, but to demonstrate why Israel's history is so complex and harsh and challenging and to explain why God chose Israel to be a holy priesthood and serve the rest of the world to bring them close to God, our Father and Creator, I feel that Johnny Cash's song "A Boy Named Sue!" is a good illustration. So, here are the lyrics in this unusual Jerusalem Prayer List.

First, I want to apologize, but not sincerely, for Johnny Cash's language. But the song is important to me, and it helps me understand my father but, above all, God as our father. God engineered the world's salvation before He created this world, which we know from several texts in the Bible. He knew the end before the beginning was made. God knew what kind of character humans would have. This is clear from the 10th Generation after creation, the Generation of Noah, and the flood. So, immediately upon seeing that the flood didn't change humanity that much, He, God, produced an insurance policy for the success and salvation of His prized possession, The Blue Ball floating in space in our solar system, the blue ball called Earth. The insurance policy was Abraham and his seed, Israel.

Those who don't know God hate those of us who know God. The Creator Himself binds together Jews and Christians to ensure that at the judgment day of all flesh, there will be people of all races, colors, and hairstyles who will know God and His Grace and Love for His creation and the top of His creation is a mammal called Adam, man! Humanity has the divine DNA of intelligence, creativity, and love. Humanity can also imagine and create, just like the creative impulse of our Heavenly Father, inventing things and establishing a FATHER and Child relationship.

Yes, Israel, Abraham's seed, the mammals created by God who walk on two legs, have a head full of gray matter, can think, can love, can hate, can be born again and holy like our Heavenly Father who named us "Israel" (Sue!)

I pray for our world. I pray for Jews and Christians in the world to unite and invite all of humanity to recognize the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit as our family and work for the salvation of the rest of humanity to bring those of us who have chosen to walk that narrow path that is difficult now! But, most wonderful and joyful for eternity!

I am not angry at God or upset that I was born to my parents a Jew, short, big-nosed, opinionated, and stubborn! I am glad to be who God made me because I picked up the gauntlet at the age of 16 and knew what my mission and purpose for living was from an early age.

I met John Cash, his wife, and his camera team in Jericho 1977. Ernest Stewart, Mary Francis, his wife, and I were eating at Green Valley in Jericho. I recognized Johnny Cash. The restaurant's owner was a friend, but he didn't know who was eating lunch in his restaurant. So, I shouted to the owner, -Mahmud, do you have cash for Johnny?" A few minutes passed, and suddenly, powerful hands clutched both of my shoulders. I felt a hefty weight on my shoulders and a strong grip. I looked up, and Johnny Cash was there pushing me down. He smiled and said: "Son, there are better ways to get my attention!" He opened up a conversation between all at our table and all at Johnny's table. The conversation led to a discussion of our faith and Johnny's faith. We discovered that day that we are genuine brothers by virtue of our common faith! There was no offense or a problem between us because of our faith and new birth in Christ. Mahmud, the restaurant owner, came to ask if all is well with us! We assured him that there is peace in the Green Valley in Jericho!

The parable within "A Boy Named Sue." illustrates why God has chosen Israel and why He sent Abraham and gave him the land of Canaan, the worst neighborhood in the history of humankind, but the only land bridge to three significant continents of this world.

Yeshua, the King of the Jews – is still a Jew and an Israelite, and He is returning to Jerusalem, Israel, and why you, dear brothers and sisters, must identify with Israel and with the Jews in the world. Our Savior and the Savior of the Arabs, Iranians, Russians, and Ukrainians is still a Jew, and he would be offended if you persecute and harm his fellow Jewish brothers, who are the only people in the world that have the following promise by God the father and by the Son and the Spirit:

"For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: "The Deliverer will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; For this is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins." (Romans 11:25-27 NKJV)

Your prayers for brothers and sisters you don’t know personally is a pure love and building of the Body of the Messiah. It is Agape Love since you are doing this without any selfish interests and casting a vote in heaven for someone who is your brother. Still, you don't know them, and God looks at these prayers that are unselfish and genuine expression of love and care for another link in the long chain of love and faith that binds us together even though we might not know each other in this world.

When we all get to Heaven, it will be a joy to meet people we prayed for and sometimes even cried for. Brothers and sisters who are physically strangers but spiritually a part of the same body of Christ, I believe that one day we will have the privilege to sit together and share: "I remember praying for you to be healed!" "I remember praying for you to be safe when you were fighting in Gaza to free the hostages from the cruel hands of the terrorists of the Hamas in Gaza."

Pray for the following brothers and sisters who need divine grace and the gentle touch of the hand of God for healing and strength.

In Jerusalem:

 new Yehuda is going back into military service next week. Pray for his safe return home.

 new Reuven is also returning into military service next week. Pray for his safe return home.

 Yehuda Levi is in the hospital with stage 4 lymphoma for the fourth week. We ask for prayers for his family. Especially the difficult time that Elisheva is experiencing. A reminder - in past JPL (in 2010) Yehuda is the father of Major Emmanuel Levi , who died in a tragic training exercise.

Consultation on biopsy resulted in a schedule for another test and biopsy of the stomach area. Marcia's health needs are the same and ask for prayers to strengthen her health and memory.

 Ilana Ahijervie is a dear sister who is 98 years old and suffering from memory problems.

 Please pray for our dear sister, Lea Kurkey.

 Pray for Adam’s father and mother, Barry and Dalia. They have some health problems and challenges.

 Pray for Hannah suffering from Migraine Headaches. Miriam is a dear sister old age dementia.

 Please pray for the Romero family, who live deep in the Negev desert. It is hot there, and they are far from our congregation, and we miss them.

 Mauno Lemponen has been diagnosed with cancer in advanced stages. We are asking for Gods Will to be done, giving him healthy days with family—prayers for Hilka, Miika, and Ester, who support each other.

 Pray for Keijo and Salme, our dear partners and fellow workers in God’s flock. Both Keijo and Salme have some challenging heart issues.

 Pray for Satu-Maria, Sinni Tuuli, Anne Mirjami, our dear sisters.

In Brazil:

 Max Rodrigues. his mothers health issues. she has stomach problems that have yet to be diagnosed. The hospital is taking a long time to complete tests. Pray for her salvation. Pray for Max as he navigates a challenging period in his life. He has confidence Gods victory in his life.

 Pray for the Congregations related to Netivyah in Brazil to have the strength and stamina to face the challenges ahead of them with courage and strength of faithfulness to the Lord and to the vision of the restoration of the church and Israel.

 Pray for the millions of victims of the Spanish and Portuguese Inquisition who have been forced to convert to the Catholic church and now want to return home to the land of Israel and to the faith of our fathers.

 Pray for a dear young man, Paulo, from Curitiba, Brazil, who seriously needs our prayers for sanity and mental health.

 Please pray for a dear sister named Claudia Rita Souze Arau. She has cancer and needs God’s healing hands to touch her with healing.

 Pray for Fatima Maria Docarmo Guimararaes - pray for her health and her granddaughters’ twin babies.

 Guilherme Antonio Nothen Becker is suffering from back problems.

 new Pat R is having surgery for a Mastectomy today. A dear Widowed sister in faith a kind soul to all.

 Sarah Sacks has received the news that she has aggressive carcinoma. I am asking that you raise your prayers for Jonathan & Sarah as they begin the road of diagnosis and treatment for Cancer. However we believe in the power of healing that only God can provide.

 Elisheva is studying for passing Financial certifications in September. Please pray for calmness in her studies and confidence in passing her exams next month. also for health and her household.

 Jerry Rogers - a long time prayer warier and supporter in Dallas has been diagnosed with cancer. he is starting treatments and we lift up his doctors and medical team & family in prayer.

 Larry is asking for prayers for his grandchildren. I would say most of us that have grandchildren are concerned about the states of the world. The state of intolerance. The temptations out there. Please pray for the holy sprit to guide them in making good choices.

 Bill C. is doing well. I received wonderful news that his cancer markers continue to trend to the normal states. A true answer to prayers. Please pray a thanks to God and continue to ask for success of the treatments.

 Brother Philip Slate and his wife. She is suffering from several physical and mental health challenges.

 Barbra and Angie in Alaska. Barbra has some pains and discomfort related to old age. Please lift them in prayer for strength and reduction in pain.

 Jonathan Bernis is continuing recovery from a liver transplant. Please pray for Elisangela and the girls and the doctors and nurses attending our dear brother Jonathan Bernis.

 Pray for Steve Mock - His cognitive condition has declined, and we ask for the grace of God and His Healing and strength. Steve and Josie’s son Joseph has received a wonderful and glorious report. After the last bone marrow transplant, the report is that the doctors didn’t find any leukemia in his body! Praise the Lord!
