예루살렘 기도 목록 – 2021년 3월 18일

이번 주 토라 포션은 레위기의 처음 장들입니다. 히브리어로 레위기는 “그리고 그가 불렀다.”라고 부릅니다. 히브리어에서 성경의 각 책의 이름은 보통 그 책의 첫 단어들로 지어집니다. 레위기 첫 장 처음 단어들은 “이제 주님께서 모세를 부르셨다”입니다.

우리는 레위기 1:1~6:7을 읽습니다. 이 포션은 제가 저의 13번째 생일 저의 바 미쯔바 때 예후다 거리에 있는 회당에서 읽었던 포션입니다. 네, 이 말은 제가 오는 이 주에, 주님의 뜻이라면, 서구식으로 만 75세가 된다는 뜻입니다. 아시아식이나 스파라드 유대인식이나 불가리아식으로는 76세가 될 것입니다. 저에게 이것이 어떻게 그런 것이냐고 묻지 마시기 바랍니다. 이것은 그렇게 세는 사람들한테 그냥 그런 것이니까요.

이번 안식일에 전 세계 회당에서 읽힐 선지서의 포션은 이사야 43:21~44:23이 될 것입니다. 신약성경에서는 히브리서 10:1-18, 13:10-15를 읽을 것입니다.

흥미로운 점은 기독교에서 성경의 책들에 지은 이름들입니다. 성경의 책들의 이름은 논리적인데요, 그 이름들은 성경의 내용에 따라 부여되었습니다. 레위기의 랍비식 이름은 “코하님의 토라” 즉 “제사장들의 법”입니다. 토라의 다른 책들도 마찬가지로, 각 책의 내용에 따라 이름이 부여되었습니다.

레위기의 첫 13 장은 전적으로 토라의 제사제도에 할애되었습니다. 모든 종류의 제사가 아주 상세히 기술되어 있어, 각 제사와, 제사를 드리려는 사람의 사회경제적 지위가 무엇인지에 따라 어떤 동물이 드려질만한지, 그리고 속죄제일 경우 제사를 드리려는 사람이 지은 죄가 무엇인지 등 상세히 설명합니다.

저에게 흥미로운 점은 주님께서 각 사람의 사회적 지위와 재정적 능력에 따라 제물을 구분하셨다는 것입니다. 부유한 사람은 자기 죄에 대한 속죄제로 수소를 가져오는 반면 가난한 사람의 제물은 비둘기 두 마리를 가져오는 것만으로도 충분했습니다.

이것은 하나님의 지혜와, 우리의 사회적 지위를 고려하시는 하나님의 배려와, 사람에게 그들이 할 수 있는 이상을 요구하지 않으시는 하나님의 은혜를 보여주는 것입니다. 저는 이것이 주님의 사랑과 성품을 아주 잘 보여주는 것이라고 생각하며 우리 각 나라 세법상의 지도자들과 교회 및 회당 지도자들이 사람들의 능력을 배려하고 그들을 밀어붙이지 않고 그들이 할 수 있는 대로 헌금하도록 고무하는 것을 주님으로부터 배우기를 바랍니다.

저는 선지서에서 읽는 부분인 하프타라에서 몇 말씀 나누고 싶습니다. 이번 주에 읽는 부분은 이사야 43장과 44장에서 옵니다. 일부 기독교인들은 로마서 11:25-26, “온 이스라엘이 구원을 받으리라”는 바울의 선언을 받아들이는 데에 어려움이 있습니다. 바울은 꿈꾸다가 이 개념을 갖게 된 것이 아닙니다. 하나님께서 이스라엘을 구원하실 것이라는 약속은 선지서에 최소 여섯 번 나옵니다. 그 중 하나가 여기 이사야 43장에 있습니다:

“야곱아 너를 창조하신 여호와께서 지금 말씀하시느니라 이스라엘아 너를 지으신 이가 말씀하시느니라 너는 두려워하지 말라 내가 너를 구속하였고 내가 너를 지명하여 불렀나니 너는 내 것이라 네가 물 가운데로 지날 때에 내가 너와 함께 할 것이라 강을 건널 때에 물이 너를 침몰하지 못할 것이며 네가 불 가운데로 지날 때에 타지도 아니할 것이요 불꽃이 너를 사르지도 못하리니 대저 나는 여호와 네 하나님이요 이스라엘의 거룩한 이요 네 구원자임이라 내가 애굽을 너의 속량물로, 구스와 스바를 너를 대신하여 주었노라 네가 내 눈에 보배롭고 존귀하며 내가 너를 사랑하였은즉 내가 네 대신 사람들을 내어 주며 백성들이 네 생명을 대신하리니 두려워하지 말라 내가 너와 함께 하여 네 자손을 동쪽에서부터 오게 하며 서쪽에서부터 너를 모을 것이며 내가 북쪽에게 이르기를 내놓으라 남쪽에게 이르기를 가두어 두지 말라 내 아들들을 먼 곳에서 이끌며 내 딸들을 땅 끝에서 오게 하며 내 이름으로 불려지는 모든 자 곧 내가 내 영광을 위하여 창조한 자를 오게 하라 그를 내가 지었고 그를 내가 만들었느니라 눈이 있어도 보지 못하고 귀가 있어도 듣지 못하는 백성을 이끌어 내라 열방은 모였으며 민족들이 회집하였는데 그들 중에 누가 이 일을 알려 주며 이전 일들을 우리에게 들려 주겠느냐?” – 이사야 43:1–9

바울의 서신에 감동을 주신 바로 그 성령님의 감동을 받은 이사야의 이 말은 아주 분명합니다. 그리고 저는 이 핵심 진리를 강조하는 이사야서의 다른 말씀을 추가하고 싶습니다.

우리는 이사야 때 이스라엘이 결코 의롭지도 공정하지도 않았다는 것을 기억해야 합니다. 이스라엘은 국가적 죄, 개인적 죄, 우상숭배 등 죄에 빠져있었고, 이사야 선지자는 1장 시작부터 이스라엘을 힐난하기에 충분했습니다. 이사야 선지자는 호된 말로 이스라엘을 힐난하며 이스라엘에 대한 하나님의 진노를 표출합니다.

우리는 주님께서 온 인류의 아버지이심을 기억해야 합니다. 이것은 사도 바울의 말입니다:

“하나님은 다만 유대인의 하나님이시냐 또한 이방인의 하나님은 아니시냐 진실로 이방인의 하나님도 되시느니라 할례자도 믿음으로 말미암아 또한 무할례자도 믿음으로 말미암아 의롭다 하실 하나님은 한 분이시니라 그런즉 우리가 믿음으로 말미암아 율법을 파기하느냐 그럴 수 없느니라 도리어 율법을 굳게 세우느니라.” – 로마서 3:29-31

우리는 우주의 창조주 하나님께서는 실수하지 않으신다는 것을 기억해야 합니다. 그분께서 아브라함과 그의 씨를 영원히 택하셨을 때, 주님께서는 그분께서 무슨 일을 하고 있는지 잘 알고 계셨습니다. 그분께서는 이스라엘이 뭘 할 수 있는지를 아셨고 시작 전부터 끝을 보실 수 있으셨습니다.

하나님께서 우리 인류에게 죄 지을 자유 혹은 자유의지를 허용하신 것은 그분의 피조물과 인류를 향한 사랑인데요, 이러한 자유가 없이는 사랑과 존경에 근거한 관계는 있을 수 없기 때문입니다.

이것은 하나님께서 이스라엘에게 하신 약속을 상기시키는 이사야서의 또 다른 말씀입니다:

“하늘이여 노래하라 땅이여 기뻐하라 산들이여 즐거이 노래하라 여호와께서 그의 백성을 위로하셨은즉 그의 고난 당한 자를 긍휼히 여기실 것임이라 오직 시온이 이르기를 여호와께서 나를 버리시며 주께서 나를 잊으셨다 하였거니와 여인이 어찌 그 젖 먹는 자식을 잊겠으며 자기 태에서 난 아들을 긍휼히 여기지 않겠느냐 그들은 혹시 잊을지라도 나는 너를 잊지 아니할 것이라 내가 너를 내 손바닥에 새겼고 너의 성벽이 항상 내 앞에 있나니.” – 이사야 49:13-16

이사야 선지자의 이 말은 우리에게 하나님께서 이스라엘에 대해 맺고 있는 관계를 얼마나 잘 보여주는지요! 하나님의 손바닥에 이스라엘을 새기셨다니 하나님을 얼마나 잘 묘사한 그림인지요! 선한 기독교인들은 주후 첫 몇 세기 동안 로마가톨릭교회에 꾐 당하여 그들의 믿음의 원천 이스라엘로부터 멀어지게 되었습니다.

그들은 하나님께서 결코 주신 적 없는 권위를 가지고 있다고 주장하는 이교도들에 의해 둔해졌습니다. 그들은 성경 말씀에 미혹의 막을 덧붙여 말씀의 원뜻을 바꾸고, 안식일을 지우고, 교회에게서 그 뿌리인 이스라엘과의 관계를 끊었습니다.

드디어 19세기에 와서야, 종교개혁이 갈 곳은 없으며, 유일한 해답은 회복, 즉 처음으로 되돌아가서 청사진을 보고 다시 시작하는 것뿐임을 깨달은 기독교 지도자들이 생겼습니다.

그 바람은 숭고했고, 환경도 좋았지만, 문화가 강력한 요소입니다. 마귀는 더 이상 하나님의 말씀을 왜곡할 수 없게 되면, 문화를 사용해 선하고 순진한 기독교인들의 관심을 딴 데로 돌렸습니다.

친애하는 형제자매님들, 이제 회복의 패러다임을 회복하고 “개신교/복음주의” 교회 안에 약한 세 가지, 메시아의 몸의 연합과 성경 진리에 대한 갈망을 급진적으로 찾아야 할 때입니다.

성경 진리는 우선적으로 성경 본문의 문맥과, 어떤 사건이 일어났을 때, 사도들이 기록했을 때 그 당시 시간과 장소로 돌아간 역사적 맥락에 근거합니다. 오늘날은 이렇게 하는 것이 19세기보다 훨씬 더 쉽습니다. 오늘날 우리는 랍비 구글닷컴이 있으니까요. 모든 사람이 아무 비용 없이 무료로 정보에 접근할 수 있습니다. 우리에게 필요한 것은 하나님의 말씀과 그 진리에 전념하는 것뿐입니다.

여기에 요구되는 것은 우리가 헌신하는 대상이 우리 교단이 아니라는 것, 우리를 서로에게서 분열되게 하고 소외되게 하는 당 짓는 영이 아니라는 것을 아는 것입니다. 지도자들은 다른 사람들이 여러분을 가르치는 것을 못 봅니다! 하나님의 말씀을 읽으십시오. 기도하며 진리를 찾으며 읽고 무엇보다 클러치를 눌러서 내리고 높은 기어로 옮겨 여러분의 생각을 최고로 사용하십시오.

제가 제일 좋아하는 19세기 회복운동 주창자 중 한 분은 바튼 더블유(W.) 스톤입니다. 바튼 더블유(W.) 스톤은 케인 릿지 장로교회 목사였습니다. 바튼은 장로교회 목사로서가 아니라 예슈아의 보통 제자로서 말씀을 읽다가 그가 지금 하고 있는 것이 틀렸음을 깨닫고 마틴 루터처럼 그의 교회 건물 문에 비망록을 못 박아 걸었습니다. 이 비방록에 바튼 더블유(W.) 스톤은 자기가 더 이상 장로교회 목사일 수 없다고 선언했습니다.

창세기부터 요한계시록까지의 하나님의 말씀만이 우리에게 있는 유일한 표준이며 유일한 권위입니다. 제가 이사야 선지자의 말씀을 보면서 이 말씀을 로마서의 사도 바울의 말과 연결시키자, 제 마음은 계속 갈 소망과 확신과 안심으로 가득 찼습니다!

저희 집 현관에서 동쪽으로 올려다보면서 마운트 스코푸스와 감람산 너머로 주님께서 내려오시는 것을 보며 나팔 소리를 듣기를 기다립니다. 이것은 맑은 날 천둥번개가 치는 것처럼 언제든 일어날 수 있습니다.

그런데 말입니다, 메시아께서 오시는 것을 기다리며 보려고 이스라엘 예루살렘에 살 필요는 없습니다! 저는 모든 눈과 모든 귀가 주님께서 시온으로 다시 오시는 것을 보고 듣도록 하나님께서 사람으로 하여금 텔레비전과 인터넷과 현대 커뮤니케이션 기기를 발명하도록 허용하셨다고 생각합니다. 고품질 전자기기와 와이파이의 확산으로 전 세계에서 사람들이 메시아의 재림을 목격할 수 있을 것입니다.

예슈아의 재림을 위해 기도하십시오! 이것은 모든 사람의 매일 기도 목록에 있어야 합니다. 우리가 살고 있는 세계는 코로나바이러스뿐만 아니라, 인류의 미래에 훨씬 더 중요하고 위험할지도 모를 다른 이슈들로 병 들었습니다. 그 문제들에 대한 유일한 백신은 하나님의 말씀입니다.

코로나바이러스와 봉쇄 때문에 많은 사람들이 일자리를 잃고 사업장이 문을 닫았습니다. 예루살렘의 가난한 사람들에게 식료품으로 축복해 줄 수 있도록 조금 더 힘써 주시기 바랍니다. 이것은 바울이 로마 교회에 한 말입니다:

예루살렘의 가난한 사람들을 먹이기 위한 하모찌 프로그램은 계속되고 있으며, 코로나바이러스로 인한 봉쇄와 격리 대부분의 기간 동안 멈춘 적이 없습니다. 저희 프로그램에서 식료품을 받으러 오는 필요한 사람들의 수가 증가했고 전반적인 필요도 늘었습니다.

The Jerusalem Prayer List – March 18, 2021

The Torah reading this week is from the first chapters of the book of Leviticus. In Hebrew the book of Leviticus is called, “And He Called.” The Hebrew names of the books of the Bible are generally given by the first words of the book. The first words of the first chapter of the book of Leviticus are: “Now the Lord called to Moses.”

We read from Leviticus chapter 1:1 – 6:7. This was the portion of my Bar Mitzvah that I had to read in the synagogue on Yehuda Street when I had my 13th birthday. Of course, this means that this next week, the Lord willing, I shall be according to Western count fully 75 years old. According to Asian and Sephardic and Bulgarian count I shall be 76 years old. Don’t ask me how this works – it does work for those who count that way.

The portion of the prophets that will be read in the synagogues around the world this Shabbat is going to be from Isaiah 43:21 – 44:23. From the New Testament our reading will be Hebrews 10:1-18, 13:10-15.

An interesting note is on the names of the books of the Bible in the Christian Bibles. The names of the books are logical, they are given according to the content of the book. The rabbinical name of the book of Leviticus is “Tarah’s Cohanim,” “the law of the priests”. The same is with the other books of the Torah the names are given according to the content of the book.

The first 13 chapters of the book of Leviticus are dedicated mainly to the sacrificial system of the Torah. Every type of sacrifice is described in great detail, what animal will be acceptable for each sacrifice and what is the social and economic status of the person that is going to sacrifice and if it is a sin offering what is the sin that was committed by the person who is bringing the sacrifice.

The interesting thing to me is that the Lord grades the sacrifices according to the social status and the financial capabilities of each person. The rich have to bring a bull for sin offering for their sin whereas the sacrifice of the poor can be satisfied by bringing two pigeons.

This is a demonstration of the wisdom of God and the consideration of God for our social status, and the grace of God that does not require of men to do more than they are capable to do. I think that this is a wonderful depiction of the Lord’s love and character and I hope that our leaders both in our countries and also in the tax code and also the church and synagogue leaders will learn from the Lord to be considerate of the people’s capabilities and encourage them to give what they can without pushing.

I would like to share a few words from the Haftarah, the reading from the prophets. This week the reading comes from Isaiah 43 and 44. Some Christians have a hard time accepting Paul’s declaration in Romans 11:25-26, “All Israel shall be saved.” Paul didn’t get this idea while dreaming. The promise that God will save Israel appears at least six times in the prophets. Here in Isaiah 43 is one of those times:

“But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place. Since you were precious in My sight, you have been honored, And I have loved you; Therefore, I will give men for you, And people for your life. Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your descendants from the east and gather you from the west; I will say to the north, “Give them up!” And to the south, “Do not keep them back!” Bring My sons from afar, And My daughters from the ends of the earth— Everyone who is called by My name, Whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him.’ Bring out the blind people who have eyes, And the deaf who have ears. Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled. Who among them can declare this, and show us former things?” – Isaiah 43:1 – 9 [NKJV]

These words of Isaiah inspired by the Holy Spirit, the same Holy Spirit that inspired Paul’s writings, are so clear, and I would like to add another text from Isaiah that just accentuates this central truth.

We must remember that during the time of Isaiah Israel was in no way righteous or just. Israel was embroiled in sin, national sin, personal sin, idolatry, and Isaiah the prophet had enough condemnation of Israel starting from chapter 1 the prophet condemns Israel with harsh words and expresses the anger of the Lord against Israel.

We must remember that the Lord is the father of all mankind. Here are the words of the apostle Paul:

“Or is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also, since there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith. Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law.” – Romans 3:29-31 [NKJV]

We must remember that God, the Creator of the Universe does not make mistakes. When He chose Abraham, and His Seed for ever, the Lord knew well what He is doing. He knew what Israel is capable of and He could see the end before the beginning.

It is God’s love for His creation and for humanity that allowed us, humans, the freedom to sin and have free will because without this freedom there can’t be a relationship based on love and honor.

Here is another text from Isaiah that resonates God’s promises to Israel:

“Sing, O heavens! Be joyful, O earth! And break out in singing, O mountains! For the Lord has comforted His people and will have mercy on His afflicted. But Zion said, ‘The Lord has forsaken me, and my Lord has forgotten me.’ Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely, they may forget, Yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me.” – Isaiah 45:13-15 [NKJV]

What a great picture these words of Isaiah, the prophet, give us of God’s relationship to Israel, what a great picture of God inscribing Israel on the palm of his hands. Good Christians have been kidnaped by the Roman Catholic Church in the early centuries after Yeshua and dragged away from the source of their faith, Israel.

They have been desensitized by pagans who claimed to have the authority, an authority that God has never given them. They changed the meaning of the texts by overlaying a film of deception over the text, canceled the Shabbat, they disconnected the relationship of the church from its root, Israel.

Finally in the 19th century there were Christian leaders who realized that the Protestant Reformation is going nowhere and that the only answer is restoration, going back to the drawing board and looking at the blueprint and starting over.

The desire was noble, and the conditions were good, but culture is a strong element, and if the devil could no longer twist the word of God, he used culture to divert the good and innocent Christians.

It is time my dear brothers and sisters to restore the paradigm of restoration and radically search for three things that are weak in the “Protestant/Evangelical” churches, unity of the body of the Messiah, and a hunger for biblical truth.

Biblical truth that is based first on the text in context, the historical context, going back to the time and place when the events happened, and when the apostles wrote it down. Today it is much easier to do this than it was in the 19th century. Today we have Rabbi Google.com. There is free access for everyone to information, at no cost. All that we need is a commitment to the word of God and to its truth.

All that this requires is that we understand that our commitment is not our denominations, not to the party-spirit that divides and alienates us from each other. Leaders don’t look for others to teach you! Read the Word of God, pray and read in search of truth and above all put your minds in gear, push the clutch down and shift to high gear.

One of my favorite preachers of the 19th century Restoration movement is Barton W. Stone. Barton W. Stone was the pastor of the Cain Ridge Presbyterian Church. When Barton read the word not as a Presbyterian pastor, but like a plain disciple of Jesus he understood that what he was doing is wrong and like Martin Luther nailed a note on the door of his church building. In this note Barton W. Stone stated that he could no longer be the pastor of the Presbyterian Church.

God’s word from Genesis to Revelation is the only standard and the only authority that we have and when I look at the words of Isaiah the prophet and connect these words with those of the apostle Paul in Romans – my heart is filled with hope and with assurance and security to keep on keeping on!

Looking up from my porch toward the East – over to Mt. Scopus and the Mt. of Olives waiting to see the Lord descend and hear the trumpet sound. It could happen at any moment like a lightning and thunder on a clear day.

“My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand.”

By the way, you don’t have to live in Jerusalem, Israel, to wait and see the Messiah’s coming! I think that this is why God allowed humans to invent television and internet and modern communication so that truly every eye and every ear can hear and see the return of the Lord to Zion. From across the world people will be able to witness the Messiah’s return with the new spread of high-quality electronic devices and Wi-Fi.

Pray for Yeshua’s return! This ought to be on everyone’s prayer list daily. Our world is sick not only with the coronavirus, but with other issues that might be even more important and dangerous for the future of humanity. Issues that the only vaccine for them is the word of God.

Please continue to pray a special prayer for Marcia. Praise the Lord she received the first vaccination for the coronavirus, and on March 5th, Marcia received the second vaccine. She is doing well, and I ask you to continue to pray for Marcia and for the rest of my family. Pray for Danah and Noaam, and for Barry, Beth, and Joey. Marcia has definitely slowed down significantly. She has very little energy and she rests most of the day. I am praying and believing in the Lord’s grace for healing Marcia and restoring her ability to function and travel with me and to be a blessing to the local congregation and community and to our brothers and friends around the world. Pray for Marcia, please!

We have a new prayer request from a dear family in Jerusalem that needs urgent divine help and guidance. The family of our dear brother Adam R.

Please add brother Yehuda Hochman in your prayers. Yehuda has kidney problems, and he is on dialysis and needs our prayers. Also add a pastor who lives in the state of Bahia in Brazil in the town of Alaguinia. Pastor Renz and his whole family are sick with coronavirus, and many in their fellowship are also infected. These are precious brothers living in the interior of Bahia. Your prayers will help.

Please consider helping Netivyah to continue caring and feeding the poor of Jerusalem and blessing the people of this city that need help to feed their children and families.

Because of the Coronavirus and the lockdowns many people have lost their jobs and businesses were closed. Please make an extra effort to bless the poor people of Jerusalem with food. Here are the words of Paul to the church in Rome:

“But now I am going to Jerusalem to minister to the saints. For it pleased those from Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor among the saints who are in Jerusalem. It pleased them indeed, and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister to them in material things.” (Romans 15: 25-27 [NKJV])

The Hamotzi program for feeding the needy of Jerusalem is ongoing and has not stopped during most of the coronavirus lock-down and quarantine. The number of needy people who come to receive food from our program has increased and overall need has increased.

Also we need your prayers and help to continue to do the Lord's work with the youth, and with the publication of the “Teaching from Zion” Magazine and so many other things that have influence around the world.

Please continue to pray for a very special kindergarten in Jerusalem “Little Hearts.” The director of this special kindergarten is one of our own from the congregation.

Keep praying for a dear sister, Livia Schnell Nothen. Please keep brother Philip Marc in your prayers. Pray for Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias. He is the father of a dear sister in Brazil.

Pray for all those wonderful, dedicated brothers and sisters in Korea who stood with Israel and with Netivyah to revive and to not forget their first love for Israel and for Netivyah.

Danah our daughter, needs much prayer for her health and her situation. Our granddaughter Noam is a senior in high school and working with Zoom to finish her high school. Pray for the Lord to give Noam guidance and direction for graduation from high school.

Our grandson Joseph also needs prayer to be able to get into college with proper scholarships. Please lift Barry our son and his family, Beth, and Joey our grandson to be protected and spared any contact and infection of the coronavirus. Marcia’s mother June is 91 years old and her health is failing.

Our dear sister Hadassah continues her healing and recovery from cancer. Keep her in your prayers.

I am adding a new prayer request from a leader of God’s people in India, Joy Mathew. Joy has a serious heart condition and has asked for prayer.

Please keep in your prayers our dear brother Pastor TJ in Taiwan.

Keep Ruby Little in your prayers, our dear sister from Oklahoma City, who is also battling against cancer and add to your prayers Allison Howard Williams. Allison Howard Williams is the daughter of one of my most important teachers Dr. George Howard.

Pray for Rachael and Daniel, a brother and sister who need jobs and emotional healing. Lift these brothers and sisters in your prayers: Angela Isby, Aries Franklin Mayers Sr., and Tony Black. Keep praying for Nancy, Don and their son Aaron Hook, Rachel David, Kim’s wife – Jingyung Lee, Dr. Yuizawa, Tiz H., Lion H., Ilana Abramov, Cynthia Parveen’s sister, David Stern and his family, Anne West who is now 100 years old. Keep praying for Gary, and Melanie.

Remember the following brothers and sisters from the Roeh Israel Congregation in Jerusalem; Sarit, Gabriela, Ahuva, Leah, Ilana, Hannah, young Gabriela, Jonathan B. and his wife Aviva and their baby. Pray for Sister Yoko Nagumo in Japan. Sister Yoko had a stroke, and we pray that her recovery will be quick and complete.

From Chennai, India, please remember Pastor Isaac. Pastor Isaac is an older man with severe kidney problems and has to have dialysis several times per week. Remember Tony and Louisa Tam, and our brothers and sisters at the 611 Church, and the other churches who love God and love Israel in that great city. Remember in your prayers the Cohen family in Hong Kong.

Just a word of grace before the mercy seat of the Almighty will be heard in favor of these brothers and Um Mahmud Abu-Eid and Jimmy Abu-Eid and his family, Keijo and Salme our dear brothers in Finland, Tim Tucker, Satu-Maria, Sinni Tuuli, Anne Mirjami our dear sister and all our other brothers and sisters in Finland who need our prayers, Eva H., Patty, Andrea, Julia and Victor, and Aaron Tani, and Hillel and his wife.

We continue to pray for Zhou Wenrian, Abe family, Toru San, Takeo Sensei, Daisuke Sensei, Tomoko San, Yumi and her father Pastor Ohara, George, and Pastor Isaac in Chennai, India.

I have just received a prayer request from a dear sister from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her father who is 70 years old and diabetic has contracted the COVID-19 virus. His name is Paulo C. Pereira Braga Dias.

Please see your prayer as casting a vote for healing before the Lord and His angels in Heaven in favor of every brother and sister that you are praying for. Just a word of grace for all of us is a refreshing spirit. Take your prayers before the mercy seat of the Almighty to be heard in favor of those that you are lifting in prayer.

Keep praying for Guilherme Antonio Nathan Becker and his wife Artuza de Oliviera, also add Rachael and Daniel Webster and Lizette Nancy, and Jose Carlos from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Please keep in your prayers a dear sister who attends our congregation in Jerusalem. Her name is Hadassah and she just had cancer surgery. Pray for Hadassah for a full recovery and remission from any cancer in her body.

Pray for Israel. We are going through terrible riots and violence in the streets of Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv and other places around the country. These riots are motivated by the fact that much of the populace of Israel does not understand what the government is doing in relationship to the coronavirus pandemic.

I pray that the Lord will inspire and motivate brothers and sisters and ministries who can help with this to visit our webpage and do what they can to make it possible for us to double or more than double, the number of people and families that we serve.

I would like to ask you to pray for a pastor whom I don’t know personally but I hear that he is a man of God who helps spread the Good News and establish congregations in remote villages in India. Please pray for Pastor Christopher.

The coronavirus is threatening the economy of the world with a great recession and depression. Some of our major supporters have already lowered the amount of their support. They have done this not only toward Netivyah, but for all the ministries that they are supporting, and they are many. I would like to first ask you to pray about your part in supporting Netivyah Bible Instruction Ministry.

Second, I would like for you who stand with us in prayer and financially to do your absolute best to stay on board with us and communicate. We realize that times will be hard for several years, but we also realize that God has chosen and blessed you for such a time as this.

Third, please pray for a new project that we are starting in Israel in partnership with the Houses for Healing ministry from Abilene, Texas.
 

I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. P.S. I find it such a blessing to pray for people whom I don’t know personally, and I have nothing to gain from them in this world. I feel that by praying for these people across the globe I am connecting to the ocean of God’s people that the Lord willing, one day I will be acquainted with them when I walk on the corridors of Heaven and one or two of them come and say, “I thank you for praying for me! I am happy to make your acquaintance up here in this wonderful place.” Let’s go to Rahab’s restaurant and have a divine 5 o’clock tea together and become acquainted before the Lord calls us for Vesper with Elijah and Elisha. These two interesting characters will lead our worship.
